I was very happy when a friend suggested this hidden gem in west Omaha. Among this area it sometimes seems like a chain restaurant mecca. And those restaurants that aren't chains have yet to really impress me as a whole. Med Bistro changed that. It's one of only a handful of places in the area that I would count among my favorite and am always eager to go to. I've only been for lunch, but I'm sure dinner would be equally as appealing if I can ever convince myself to drive out here after work hours. I love their Spanakopita, Combo Kabob, and Chicken Wrap. All very filling and fresh.

This restaurant is really a hidden treasure! I would never have found this place on my own. My husband went here on a business meeting one day and thought of it when I was craving some really good meats. So, I said why not! I always like trying something new and if he suggested it, it has to be okay. When we finally made it to the restaurant, we walk in to a comfy looking restaurant. The seats in the booths remind me of a couch. It wasn't too crowded or anything which is perfect for a nice, laid back meal. I ordered the kabobs, my daughter got one too, and my husband got some other meat dish. My kabob was so tasty! I just loved it! With my meal, I also got some rice too. That was also very tasty! I love all the different flavors their food has. The only problem with this restaurant to me, is the wait time. We had to wait a really long time to get our meal and if you only have a little amount of time to eat, that wouldn't work. That being said, I still will come here again. The food is delicious!

Nice atmosphere and great food and service. I had the Super Combo Kabob with Salmon, chicken and beef. Do yourself a favor and add the raisins and almonds to your rice for a buck twenty five. You'll thank me later. Excellently prepared and generous portions. Tried some of my son's lamb and it was delicious too. For dessert, I was going to order the baklava but my mouth blurted out "Banana Princess!" I think I posted a photo of it... bananas and ice cream (maybe some whipped cream, too) sandwiched between a couple flaky pastries drizzled with chocolate sauce. It sounds pretty good but it was unbelievable good. I didn't share and don't feel the slightest bit guilty. With appetizers, meals, dessert and a few glasses of wine, it came to about $40 per person including tip. Pretty expensive but worth it. Put it on your list if your looking to splurge somewhere new.

I wanted to love this place. Really I did. We came in excited to eat, left disappointed in the whole experience. As foodies, this seemed like a win, a "hidden gem" if you will. I'm sorry to say that our experience does not warrant another trip. The hummus was good, that was the one positive aspect of the night.

Had a great meal here. Somethings I didn't like but that's to be expected from any restaurant. Worth the stop plus carry out is a nice plus.

I've been here at least 10 times. Great food, AWFUL service. It's a shame because the cooks turn out incredible food. The meats are always so tender and juicy, especially the chicken. So, props to the cooks. You get a lot for your money as well. The downside: the service is so bad. I've had experience with three different gals - only one has been ok and worth tipping. The other two are so rude, inattentive, oblivious and lack a sense of urgency. I thought it was just me, but after reading some other Yelp reviews, I realized I was not alone. It's like they don't appreciate your repeat business. Unfortunately, I'll keep coming back for the food (maybe not as often though).

Very pleased with my lunch item at this restaurant. I ordered the Greek salad with grilled chicken. Would highly recommend. Other items on the menu were tempting. I plan on visiting again.

Creamy soup crisp falafel crunchy salad. What a way to start. The warm pita n hummus is yummas. Live guitar music. Soft yet easily heard without over powering your conversation. Half chicken very flavorful. Hubs. Loved his kabob of lamb and tenderloin. Too full for dessert. Don't come if you are in a rush, but do come for a flavorful relaxed time. We will return

We went on game day, so the place was empty - only 3 tables were occupied. We had the appetizer platter, vegetarian knobs and chicken kabobs. The dolmas were warm and very good. The vegetables were perfectly seasoned with just enough char. The chicken was juicy and delicious. An excellent find. The decor is a little outdated (mood lighting, bead curtains) but the food was delicious

I met up with my boyfriend here for lunch one day a few years ago. I had no idea what 'Mediterranean' consisted of, and because I'm clearly an airhead, forgot my glasses. I swear, this is still his favorite story... Without being able to actually read the menu, I ordered the Spicy Chicken Tacos. Our waitress was sweet and set off. He grinned and said 'I have no idea what you just ordered, but I promise, this place does not serve tacos..." What came instead was the Spicy Chicken Toss. Here's the thing... everything on the menu is delicious, but I can't bring myself to order anything besides the spicy chicken toss because it is AMAZING. Sadly, I probably wouldn't have been adventurous enough to try something I was so unfamiliar with on purpose, so thank heavens for my airhead moments =) Now, I bring new victims... er.. friends, about twice a month and force them to order something else so I can try their food =) I can tell you that the escargot, falafel, lavosh, pomegranate chicken, baba ganoush, hummus, and the Persian lentil soup are all incredible =) Additionally, the waitress who is ALWAYS there is kind, attentive, and thoughtful. They had a waitress who seemed to have a vendetta against everyone for a while, but I haven't seen her in months. Seriously, go. I promise not to steal any food off of your plate.... *while you're looking* ;)

I've been here several times, and I've always had a good experience. I love, love, love the lamb kebab. The vegetables are perfect, the lamb is moist and well prepared. I've recommended this place to several people. It's maybe a little more expensive than most, but just a little. It's worth the money. It's usually pretty quiet on a weeknight. I've not tried a lot of things on the menu, but the meals I've had have made me want to go back. I would recommend this restaurant.

Went for a business lunch. Ordered the Pomegranate and Walnut Chicken ($9), per reviewers suggestions, and was very disappointed. The sauce was syrupy sweet! There wasn't a brilliant culmination of flavors like I was expecting, just overly sweetened sauce and dry chicken. Even the barley soup that came with the meal was average, and served lukewarm. Soup should always come out hot, always. Lukewarm is never a good sign. I know this place offers good food, but maybe it was an off day. I guess I was the only person under 40 in this place for a reason.

This place used to be so good, so either their kitchen staff had a really bad day or someone is intentionally trying to take this restaurant down. My family agrees this is the worst meal we have ever experienced. We picked up take-out and we simply could not even stomach it. The Kubideh Kabob was so tough and hard it was difficult to cut through it with a knife. How does ground beef get that tough? The Ghormeh-Sabzi was the saltiest thing we have ever tasted in our lives. No one would take more than one bite. And the Eggplant Pilau was way too sweet. Bottom Line: We tossed it all in the trash and called in an order to Jaipur and, thankfully, the Jaipur delivered the same consistency of delicious food.

It's been a couple years since we ate here last. We got the pomegranite chicken which was good but not great as we remembered. Our host ordered lamb shank which was somewhat gamey. The barley soup was good. Chai tea came lukewarm with whipped cream, which we returned.

First dinner at the Mediterranean Bistro was over a year ago. Ordered the Seafood Kabob and Shish Kabob, but was disappointed. Food was dry and tasteless. Like A.L., I was certain that it must've been an off night...after all, many of my friends and family rave about this place. Last Saturday evening, gave it another go. A little post Turkey Day family dinner. Ordered the Appetizer Platter to start (which includes hummus, baba ghanoush, dolmeh, falafel and spanakopita). I'm giving them a thumbs up for the falafel. On the recommendation of our waitress, I ordered the Lamb Shank with the barley soup. My daughter (also a serious foodie) gave the Royal Sultani Kabob with salad a go. Yet again, I thought the overall meal was pretty okay. It's not so much that the food is bad, it's just boring. The Lamb was cooked well, but the flavor of the tomato based sauce lacked any dimension. The Royal Sultani Kabob (comes with two types of meat) was cooked well, but again, was missing just a little something. I also tasted the Pomegranate Chicken (a bit too sweet and dry) and the Spicy Toss Kabob (which wasn't very spicey, but did perk up with the addition of the spiced sauce on the table). The house salad was a bit overdressed and wilty. The barley soup can improve slightly if a) it's served hot and b) you squeeze a lemon wedge or two in it. The Baklava was sweet, so sharing two orders among 10 people worked well. You should expect to spend about $15 per entree, give or take a few dollars. Again, not on my recommended list, but will more than likely eat here again in the next year because someone in my circle of peeps will have a craving- the reason, however, will continue to remain a mystery to me.

a group of 12 of us went there on a tuesday. Except for 2 other people we were the only ones there. It took almost 3 hours for our meal, water glasses were not refilled and when several of us ordered dessert, the waitress rolled her eyes. at the end of our evening, the kitchen staff took the trash out walking out right next to our table. And to top it off, after horrible service and poor quality food, the waitress charged us 20% gratuity! Our group will not go back

I ordered the falafel wrap, with a side of potatoes. I was given a choice of tortilla flavors, I chose the spinach. The wrap was VERY good. Th falafel was crunchy and nutty flavored. The lettuce and vegetables were fresh. It was served with a small dish of tadziki & hummus. The potato's were also good, but did not stand out like the wrap. I would definitely recommend and will be back.

The waitress we had was unattentive. We had to steal our utensils and napkins from a table next to us. She also brought our appetizer and entrees out at the same time. The food here was ok. Mainly kabobs, they also have a few other dishes. I ordered the lamb kabobs medium and they came out well done. I was really disappointed. Most kabobs range about $12-$16. You get one skewer and a side of rice. It was about $50 without tip for dinner for two, an appetizer, dessert and a couple of drinks.

    (2)
  • Holly B.

My experience was a lot better than Matt's, but I think it was because we went with some regulars, so service was up to normal, except at the end when they started cleaning the tables with pungent chemicals - but we had stayed a long time after our meal not eating dessert or drinking coffeej just talking and hanging out and it was 9pm on a Sunday in Omaha, so we got the message. Back to the meal. We had the appetizer sampler and everything was good. Smaller than the appetizer plate at El Basha, but more variety. The pita bread was warm and nicely spiced. The persian barley soup was creamy and tasty. My combo kabobs (2 skewers for $16 or $17) were good, but the steak was also well done (they did not ask me how I wanted the steak). This is the first restaurant I have been to that did not leave the skewers in and frankly I like not having to wrestle with my meal. One of my friends had the chicken in pomegranate and walnut sauce and that was delish! I would come back to try that.

Excellent, authentically Mediterranean dishes plus a couple of fusionesque offerings. The fesenjan ("Pomegranate and Walnut Chicken") is comparable to what you'd find in a Persian joint in L.A. However, the mound of rice is about 1/4 the size -- just FYI. We wish they served albaloo polo too. All in all, a good value for the price, and astronomically better than the infuriating disappointment that is Ahmad's.

  • Sean M.

Food is great! I have been coming here for 10 years. I crave the hot sauce. I had to laugh because the waitress and service had not changed in over 10 years. They are very unattentive and frankly a little unaware on how to be a good server. I write this as my party of have waiting for 20 minutes to just let her know we need the check. The food is good but have two hours for lunch.

We love Mediterranean Bistro, food is always excellent. Have the hummus and baba gunoush appetizer. All the kabobs are excellent but I love (an always order) either the Chicken Tabuli salad or the FESENJUN (Chicken in pomegranate sauce) with rice. This is a little sweet )the sauce) so if you dont like any sweetness in your entree you may not like it, otherwise it is excellent.

This place has the best Mediterranean place in Omaha. We get their catering all the time at work and I've also ate in a few times and the food is always good and fresh. The beef and chicken kabobs are my favorite, as well as the pitas, rice and grilled vegetables. My only few complaints about this place is sometimes it makes me a little tummy sick and also the service could be better. When ordering catering over the phone once the lady who answered lectured me about calling at a busy time and told me to call back later. My last issue is the decor, this inside of this place is really dated and it could be cleaner but overall the food is wondeful.
