I haven't lived in Omaha for over ten years yet anytime I'm back, I go here. I remember the first time I had a bite of the God send of a dessert known as THE torte. It was like nothing I'd ever tasted. I was hooked. Since I moved to Texas, and now Oklahoma, I am always in search of a decent kolache. Not this sausage wrapped in dough concoction. Real kolaches live here at this bakery! I may have bought them out last time I was in town. And a torte. Let's be real here. I'm not even Eastern European but one would wager I am thanks to my love of this place...and perogis...and blood sausage. Just go here and gorge yourself.

Kismet that I found treats from the motherland in my trek through Omaha. Since Chamberlain has closed in Detroit, I know of no other way to keep my old Lithuanian pop happy. Got a loaf of sourdough rye, some blood sausage, and a piece of torte for my friend who asked, "how good could it be?". He looked skeptical. Later while driving, I heard both the sounds of foodgasm and the familiar snore of diabetic coma. He enjoyed it. To top things off, the gentleman behind the counter was happy to share that they ship all over the US. Looks like Dad is getting a torte for Christmas.

It's easy to have low expectations for the Lithuanian Bakery. They have a late 1980's or early 1990's pastel colored logo, a quaint interior, and their famous Lithuanian Torte ($24) comes in a mass produced box. These signs don't scream amazing, but man, was I wrong! However, after eating this torte, I must say this is the best napoleon I've ever eaten! This torte is so delicious that I want to move to Omaha and eat it everyday.

YUM! Cute location. Reasonably priced. Super service. Delicious pastries. I visited with my mom this morning and it was A+ service all the way. We were greeted promptly by the 20-something gentleman with a warm demeanor behind the counter. I ordered a cheese streusel, my mom ordered an apple dumpling (?). Plus two coffees, that was $5.20. Perfect! Said gentleman grabbed our coffees and refilled as needed. My cheese streusel was delicious. And for $0.90, a nice little deal. The perfect price for the perfect breakfast treat. We'll be coming back (to try their torte)!

i was craving for something sweet and decided to look for this bakery. the atmosphere was simple with a good variety of baked goods and european grocery items. i couldn't decide whether to get a strudel, kolache, or torte (napoleon or chocolate) so i bought one of each item. the apple kolache was good, the raspberry strudel was delicious, and both tortes were great!! *Update* Their Napoleon torte is now one of my FAVORITE cakes/tortes. I absolutely love it!! It's not excessively sweet, but just enough blend of apricot jam and custard cream tucked between layers of puff pastry. It's dense, flaky, and tasty!

I've had the torte for years now and it never fails to disappoint. This is a great dessert item to pick up for after taking non-local visitors to somewhere like the Drover nearby. Their breakfast pastries are also excellent. The tortes can get a bit expensive but honestly given the richness they can serve a large group. Pro tip - you can ask for the large size torte which they don't always have out front. I see their tortes at HyVee and other grocery stores from time to time but why by from the grocery store when you can drive here and get it yourself?

Five stars for the torte, four for the bread and veggie sandwich, three for the other food items (reuben and soup) and two for atmosphere for a meal. Ask about 'the sauce' to go with the torte... amazing.

I only go here for the Bohemian Sourdough Rye. It's amazing stuff, and where else do you find such a unique bread?

Where else to go for blood sausage, one asks? We had our first torte from here in April when we were just tourists. Now that we have moved here, I made a point of stopping and seeing what else they had. Staff is very friendly and happy to explain offerings to this curious non-Lithuanian. I had a very light and flaky cherry pastry that they offered to warm up for me and a cup of coffee in house. Then I bought some brats for my hubby, some salami, some Baltic-style farmer's cheese, and a loaf of pumpernickel for me. Oh, and a chocolate-raspberry torte!

Prior to experiencing the torte and several other fantastic pastries here, I had no idea that Lithuanians had this much to offer. Of course, this could have been based on an experience in Chicago where a friend of mine slept with our Lithuanian cab driver and we ended up getting free fare around the city of Chicago for an entire weekend. That is, until they got into a fight and he dumped us as far from our hotel as you could get without being in Wisconsin. What amazes me about the Lithuanian Bakery is that despite it's popularity and amazing pastries, the prices are excellent. Some local bakeries vary in quality based on when you end up there (later in the day being worse, which sucks for those of us below the age of 70), but the quality here seems to be very consistent.

I came here to try a slice of their world famous torte. Well it was good...but not spectacular. I can see how they can become addicting and I believe that is why they are still in business, mail order tortes. The lady there was kind enough to exchange my overdone bread for a more moist one.

Can't say enough good things about their cheese streusel. Actually all of their streusel's are delicious...but the cheese is the best!

Dont let the decor fool you. Amazing desserts for a great price! We went to get bread and we got a sour dough that was a day old for under $3. I'm definitely coming back to try more of their baked goods.
