I went here with some friends for the first time about a week ago, it was one of the better meals that I have had in Omaha, NE. The whole dinner was great, and the service was excellent. You have to check this place out, you will not be disappointed.

We finally decided to try Le Voltaire this past weekend and it was everything I had heard it would be. The ambiance is quaint and rather intimate--perfect for a birthday dinner with my "bae." We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Our server, Elizabeth, stopped by immediately to bring us waters and tell us about the specials for the night. She was very knowledgeable and polite with us as we butchered each French word on the menu. I decided to start with the French Onion soup--how could I not? And Jim started with the Duck Confit. The soup was perfectly hot, but not burn the roof of your mouth hot that typically happens when anything is topped with cheese and broiled--and I really appreciated being able to mash immediately when it came out. It was very good and next time I may even have to opt for a bowl. Jim really enjoyed his duck. Its served on thin bread with balsamic and arugula. I wish I could tell you more about it, but before I could sneak a try, Jim had devoured it. For entrees, I had the Shrimp and Scallop Pasta. It was amazing. Scallops cooked perfectly and the homemade pasta was outstanding. The sauce was a cream-tomato that I made sure to sop up with the complimentary bread. As good as my meal was, Jim's Seafood Stew was the real standout of the evening! The broth was delicious and though I didn't try each piece of fish in there, Jim said all of it was cooked wonderfully and one of the best meals he has had--pretty big surprise from a typical steak order-er. After all the food, we couldn't fit in any dessert, but we asked if any would travel well for us to take home. Elizabeth enthusiastically recommended the Chocolate Mousse, and we are so glad we did! Despite not having the room, we managed to eat it within minutes of getting home--whoops! Our 2 appetizers, entrees, desserts, 2 glass of wine and 2 beers came out to $100--quite practical for the quality you are getting...and even the quantity, as I said we were both very full. With outstanding food, wonderful service this place is a solid 5-star restaurant that I know we will be back to soon.

Our experience was a roller coaster with some ups and downs. I do not each much at one sitting, so I had the crab cakes from the appetizer menu. I used to live in Maryland, so I'm used to the heavenly Chesapeake Blue Crabs, catch of the day. Perhaps it's not fair so use that the standard by which I measure all others. But...I do. And the crab cakes at Le Voltaire are good, but they do not measure up. They are not excellent. The flavor of the crab was bland, the seasoning was mediocre. But the size was perfect. Likewise, my companion is picky about his French onion soup, and he declared this IS excellent. His ribeye was not cooked correctly, though. He asked for medium well, and it came out rare. So my crab cakes got cold, as I waited for his steak to come back before continuing eating. Our profiterolles were awesome. We may not order anything else, but we will be back for the profiterolles. The service was excellent, too. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and very attentive without being obnoxious...not too much, not too little, met our needs without interrupting our conversation or our chewing. The person we were seated next to was extremely loud in his speaking to the folks at the table on the other side of him...who also seemed to want this stranger to shut up and let them have their own conversation. Until he left, we were unable to converse. The staff should have asked him to speak more quietly. But they called him by name, so I guess he was a regular; it seemed they would rather upset others than risk offending him. We feel like our needs will not be cared about fully until we, too, become regulars.

What an incredible meal! It was Omaha restaurant week and they had specials going on all over. Here, they had a three course meal that was SPECTACULAR! The place is a very nice French restaurant, with soft music and a very special feel to it. I had the Escargots that were delicious, then the petite steak with blue cheese and onions that was incredible! So many flavors! The plate came with mashed potatoes and roasted Brussels sprouts and carrots. The person I was with had the French onion soup and thought it was great! He had the beef cheeks and you could pull the meat off with your fork. Pretty amazing. For dessert we had the bread pudding and the Creme Brûlée, both of which were outstanding! It's an expensive restaurant but worth it!

Went to try it out but the doors were locked! Hours of operation were up but it looked like they closed early or they are Closed for good?? To bad my son really wanted to check out the Retro arcades.

I came here with a few of my coworkers after reading some reviews on Yelp and getting recommendations from some locals. I normally don't have French food, so I wasn't sure what to expect from this place. The interior wasn't as nice as I thought it would be, given the $$$ price range. It was ok, but didn't look as nice as another $$$ restaurant we had just gone to the night before. However, it was pretty peaceful inside and we were all able to hear each other pretty well. We went on a Tuesday, which was perfect because they do half off wine bottles on Tuesdays. We ended up getting a pretty meh red Bordeaux that was called "a classic" on the menu. It tasted a bit bland at first, but later was better after we mixed it with some food. Speaking of food, I spent a good amount of time eating the complementary bread, which was quite crispy. There also seems to be a salad with a decent vinaigrette that was pretty good. I didn't choose to order an appetizer since I was full from an earlier snack, and went with the duck contif. It had some vegetables, bacon, and sausage to go with it. The duck itself was tasty and fell right off the bone, a trait I always like when eating meat. The vegetables were also good and mixed well with the main duck. Overall, the food wasn't bad. The main reason I'm giving this place 5 stars is the service. The waitress was absolutely phenomenal. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and gave us plenty of time to make our decisions. After our meal, she spent a good 20 minutes telling us about all the other great restaurants in the Omaha area. I have never seen a waitress/waiter go as above and beyond like she did. I now have a giant list of places to try in Omaha. I hope she enjoys the hefty tip we left her!

This is a darling bistro. I had terrific shrimp pasta and tiramisu. Downsides: need a bit more spice and the strip-mall location is less appealing.

GREAT service, GREAT food and a GREAT time. We were greeted and seated promptly and the server was terrific. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and checked in JUST enough to keep the meal moving without being intrusive. As for the meal, we shared the foie gras and the salmon pate. The breads for both were nice accompaniments to allow the foie gras and pate to shine through. Both were fresh and some of the best I have ever had. Main course wise, I had the duck confit and my dining partner had the quail special. Both birds were cooked to perfection with just enough crispness without drying out the birds. The brussel sprouts on the side were well seasoned and tasted nice on their own. For dessert we both had the chocolate bread pudding with raspberry/apricot ice cream. Home run on this dish as the flavors exploded and melded together so wonderfully. It was a perfect ending to a great meal. This was a true fine dining experience - approximately 2 hours of relaxing food and visiting. We never felt rushed and the server was very gracious on my questions regarding the chef and restaurant in general. The tables were far enough apart that conversations didn't blend together and the restaurant definitely caters more to couples based on the layout (though there were a couple of larger parties there).

I'm a bit hesitant to write this review only because I still feel like this place is one of the best kept secrets in Omaha. On a recent Friday afternoon I met up with some girlfriends for lunch. By girlfriends, I mean retired women of leisure who have made their mark on society but now have nothing but time for savoring the joys of life. Thus, I took the afternoon off, knowing that there would be day-drinking (if you can call sipping on higher caliber reds that compliment your meal as day-drinking) and the savoring of foods, rather than the normal squeeze-in-a-meal-while-working-on-your-computer type of situation. What I noticed immediately: welcome to Le Voltaire, where Cedric and Desarae (as if we're actual long-time friends) have created an atmosphere of community. Community is the only way to describe my 2+ hour dining experience on this Friday afternoon (although you can get in and out much more quickly, if you want). Meet us. Know us. Tell us your story. So while I can wax poetic about the meal I actually consumed, enough Yelpers have done so, so I refrain. Instead I give five stars for the service...for the community..for the hours I'll never get back but don't want to get back...for forcing us to stop, to converse, to connect. Communing around a table of food (and wine) gives us as opportunity to just be, get to know each other, and recall that we really do live in a lovely place and Cedric and Desarae has created a space to remind us. The food is lovely. The experience divine. The wine selection exquisite. My next visit is already marked on my calendar.

Long past due review. This place is one of my favorite restaurants in Omaha. The food always brings a smile to my face. Personal favorites are the Bouillabase and Moules Frites. The food is always fresh and the waiters and waitresses are so knowledgeable about the food. Our most recent experience was with the guy waiter (I can't recall his name), but his attention to detail is impeccable - clearing the table, keeping water filled, timing our appetizers and entrees perfectly, etc. Super friendly. I always bring my out-of-town guests to dine at least once here. Love this restaurant!!

I went there for lunch and ordered the french onion soup which was really good, it is the only reason why they are getting three stars. I also had a chicken caesar salad which I returned twice. The first time it came out, I got searing hot whole chicken breast on top of a already wilted salad, I was kind of confused by this because.....how can you fail at a caesar salad? I'm given a fork and I guess expected to cut the really freaking hot chicken myself. So I return it only for it to come back lazily sliced up and tossed back on the already greasy wilted salad, at this point my time is up and I have to leave so I return it for a refund. When they asked why I was returning my salad I was honest told them it was greasy and unappealing. The bartender informs me that all their chicken is organic and local which is all well and good but it still doesn't solve the fact that I don't want my caesar salad dressed in grease and a restaurant of their caliber shouldn't be so lazy in their presentation.

This place is still 5 stars in my book! Recently went there with another couple about a month ago and everything was just as I remembered it. The ONLY thing that was a little annoying was that (for a Tuesday night) it was exceptionally slow. Part of me believes they did that on purpose so we could enjoy our evening and not feel rushed, but the hungry/impatient part of me believes they had one person running the kitchen for the entire restaurant. Our waiter overhead my friend and I talking about how much we liked sissy wines (moscato, etc.) and he presented us with two glasses of blended wine to resemble moscato for free. That was a pleasant surprise! Keep up the good work, Cedric and Team!

I have not eaten French food in Nebraska before so was a bit nervous. But after researching online I was confident of having a good experience and was pleasantly surprised. I would highly suggest making a reservation for dinner and was happy I had. The place was packed on Saturday night. We started with Escargot which was simply presented with light garlic butter and optional blue cheese and almonds. For mains I had a seafood medley and my wife had the nightly special Monk fish, both dishes were flawless and simple. Fortunately the dishes were not too creamy and cheesy as often is the case when eating French food out of France. The presentation was colorful and the portions were sturdy but not excessive. The broth on the seafood medley was tangy and the perfect accompaniment to my dish. I forgot to mention the house salad was fantastic, I'm not a huge fan of spinach salads but the dressing forced me to love the dish. The dressing consisted of oil and vinegar with a hint of lemon. The restaurant has tasteful decor and a small but cozy bar. The only tacky item was the giant plastic dusty tree which lay in wait as you go to the toilet. It takes up half of the bathrooms hallway which is narrow enough to begin with. Throw that atrocity out, the establishment is far too good for cheap plastic foliage. On a final note our server was highly attentive without being pressuring or over the top. This skill is a fine art to master especially here in the Midwest. Also it was pleasant to have time to enjoy your food by individual courses without having dishes thrown on the table before completion of the previous. The restaurant is a real gem and we will back from Lincoln to visit frequently. Being a European that grew up going to France regularly it's comforting to find such quality.

We went for dinner on a Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary. It's a small place and very busy but we had reservations and were seated within 5 minutes. The food was excellent. The French onion soup is the best I've ever tasted -- and that includes bistros in Paris. We ordered the Coq au vin and Coquilles Saint-Jacques and both were well prepared and beautifully plated. Creme Brulee and Profiterolles for dessert. The Profiterolles were outstanding. What prevents me from giving Le Voltaire 5 Stars is the service. There were quite a few regulars dining that night and the wait staff fawned over them -- practically standing guard to anticipate their every need. The rest of us were virtually ignored. Moreover, the regulars were extreamly loud and distracting, making it an almost unpleasent experience having been seated next to them. I would have given 3 stars if it were not for the French onion soup and Profiterolles. I don't think we'll be back which is a shame because the food really is excellent.

While I am not sure how anxious I would be to drive back out to 156th & Dodge to eat here I must say it was delicious. A group of four went for lunch today. We ordered the steak and frites, goat cheese salad, grilled lamb & the tartines parisiennes. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The grilled lamb was mine and it was probably the best (most tender) lamb I have ever had. I ordered escargot with it (pick 2 lunch) and they were wonderful as well. We had no real complaints and the portion sizes were perfect.

Very enjoyable dinner at Le Voltaire, our third visit in a year. Impeccable service from Elizabeth, who is a pro. Friendly and attentive yet unobtrusive at the same time. But we are there mainly for the food. My girlfriend had french onion soup. While it could have used a touch more broth, it was nonetheless delicious. I had duck breast, girlfriend had salmon. Both were excellent. While I had my eye on chocolate mousse, we were too full for dessert. We felt good about the world after our interlude at Le Voltaire.

Everything I have tasted has been exquisite. My daughter and I dined on the cheese plate prior to our meal and it included 6 samples of cheeses with a large supply of bread. The baguette was fresh and with the perfect crunch. My daughter inhaled the delicious, very garlicy escargot. I loved the french onion soup as well. I have had meetings here too ... did you know they have a room in the back? Great service and wonderful food in this surprise in a strip mall location.

We went here last night and my boyfriend and I were both very impressed. I started with the French onion soup, which was perfect. Just the right amount of cheese on top and served nice and hot. Next was the spring mix salad, which was very tasty. I had the salmon, with pineapple sauce as my main course. It was well seasoned and had a nice, tangy taste. It was also served hot, which was nice. I hate going to a restaurant and being served room temperature food because it sat for awhile, before being brought to the table. That brings me to the service. Elizabeth was our server and she was wonderful. I can't say enough good things about her. Polite, friendly, knowledgeable about the menu. Just top notch, perfectly timed service all around. I can't wait to go back.

My friend and I ate here for the first time, tempted by their Restaurant Week offerings. And it was an incredible meal, indeed. We both stared off with the French Onion Soup and it had such great depth of flavor...the broth was rich and satisfying, the onions perfectly cooked, the cheese nutty and smooth. For the entree, I had the Lucky Beef Cheeks and they were utterly delicious. So tender and perfectly seasoned. My friend had the Salmon with lemon caper sauce, light, delicate and steamed to perfection. We paired these dishes with a lovely Grenache wine (half price bottles on Tuesdays!). Dessert was creme brûlée for me a and butterscotch pot du creme for my pal. Based on this experience, we will most definitely return!

This was our first time at Le Voltaire. Enjoyed it very much. Tried escargot for the first time, YUM!! Hubby had the Coq au vin and I had the duck confit, we both enjoyed our entree. Oh and the French onion soup AMAZING!! We will be returning. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the food and did a great job.

My friends and I picked this restaurant to try during Omaha Restaurant Week. We were definitely amazed by the food quality here. We each started off with some escargot which was searing hot (i couldn't wait, way too hungry). Next was the salad, then i got some ridiculous beef cheeks that were just falling apart and packed a punch of flavor. There was complete silence during the entree portion of our meal. We were completely focused on the food. We also shared a nice bottle of wine to enjoy throughout our meal. Overall, I would dine here again. The ambiance really sets a tone for the meal, and the food was excellent.

Late night stop to this place and I have to say, for what we ordered we had some pretty good portions. But for those people saying portions are small...well...that's french cuisine for you. Its not to be mistaken for Italian where they give you 2 lbs of food. French cuisine is usually about being not huge portioned but being huge in taste and elegance. Anyways we went here and started with the escargo(snails) and the were good and tender and as for the portion...there were six of them and that's how they usually come. I got my entree on with a medium rare steak and french fries...not very French but my steak was perfect and the fries were fries. Good seasoning on all fronts and an easy to cut steak. My Special Lady Friend got the Bouillabaisse de Marseille which byher reaction was good but not mind-blowing. She still prefers the one offered at Spezia. It tasted good to me but I'll let her tend to that issue on her review. We finished up with the bread pudding for me and the creme brulee for her. Mine was pretty good, the flavor of the day being cranberry. It was well flavored and the berries really popped with goodness. As for My Special Lady Friend, she had the brulee which was good but...they burnt a lil bit of the sugar on top which was a lil bit of a bummer and once again I leave the impact of that to her review of this place. So all in all it was good and the portions for what we ordered were very good and the flavors were on. The service was also great so factored in with only a few misteps I would say this place is highly recommendable. Eat up Minions!!

Love the bistro menu for lunch and dinner. I can indulge my French-tooth here to my heart's content. Food is consistent and always prepared in a traditional way from scratch, nothing mass produced or pre-made frozen. This is not fast dining mind you. Don't come here when you have only a half hour. With multi-course meals, service is critical so that you do not have plates piling up at the table and your entree cools as you hurry to finish your starter. Their service is always timed appropriately. Occasionally at lunch service can lean toward a bit slow if the dining room fills up at once. Cocktails and wine choices are always satisfying.

Came here a few months ago with my girlfriend. Loved it. My girlfriend loved it even more. Reminds me of food that Gordon Ramsey would cook and present in his shows. My salmon could have used a little more sauce, but everything else was perfect! (maybe the sauce was the perfect serving for all I know!) I look forward to my next visit, and what kinds of creative, artistic, and flavorful dishes they will have since they actually have a chef with talent!

I have been here a few times. The first was because of a groupon. The remaining visits were because of the excellent food. I have had the following: Cassoulet, Bouillabaisse, Escargots, Foie Gras, Stuffed Mushrooms, Steak frites, Crème Brulée, and Espresso Mousse. I thoroughly enjoyed all of these dishes with the exception of the mushrooms, which were stuffed with crab and spinach. The mushrooms just weren't as impressive as everything else. Voltaire is pricey, so I only come here on special occasions. They do however have the following options, which are more economical: Choice of one appetizer + one main entrée OR One main entrée + one dessert $27.00 Choice of one appetizer + one entrée + one dessert $31.00 Add a bottle of wine and it's easy to spend $100+ for two. On the last visit, we had the chef's special, which isn't advertised, but you can request it when making reservations. There are two options, four course or six course. We opted for the six course, which was paired with six glasses of wine. It is well worth the money, if you can manage it. I agree with another reviewer that the majority of the patrons are older and being younger than 30, I was probably the youngest person in the restaurant. However, I personally could care less. If this food was served in a nursing home, I would gladly visit. Good food is good food. Great service. Impressive food. Pricey-but worth it. This has been my favorite restaurant, and remained unchallenged until I recently tried Dario's. I will have to try Dario's a few more times, before making up my mind...

I finally tried Le Voltaire yesterday and I was seriously impressed. I can't believe it took me this long to go there but I will definitely be returning. My husband and I stopped in for lunch and it was all I could do not to go back for dinner the same day. I ordered the coq au vin and it was to die for. My husband got the duck confit and it was fantastic as well. I also got creme brulee for dessert and it was the best I've had in Omaha. The lunch prices are very reasonable I think, and though the portions are not large they are certainly adequate. I left feeling immensely satisfied but not the least bit stuffed which is perfect. Can't wait to go back in the evening and try the Bouillabaisse!

Great food at a reasonable price for a French resturant . The service was good and our waitress knowledgable and friendly. The fish special was wonderfully prepared and the wine pairing just right . We were all too full to try the desert menu . Best the relatively low sound level allowed us to enjoy our conversations. Can,t wait to take my mother

We went here to use a groupon that we'd picked up on a whim. The decor is very subtly elegant, and the restaurant as a whole was very clean and intimate. It was very softly lit and would be a great date restaurant if your guy or gal is into the classical romantic dinner thing. I've no complaints about the service. We were seated quickly and waited on by servers who knew the menu and gladly answered our questions, when we had them. The wine was excellent, as was the selection. Not much else to say about that. The meal was the low-point of the evening. The portions are embarassingly small on some dishes, while others are a veritable mountain of food. The scallops were tasty, but very scant and the mango chutney on them seemed to throw the dish off (and since it came with no side, this was a bad thing). The steak-frites, meanwhile, came with plenty of "frites" and was more than my dear mother could eat (no big-meat-mom jokes, please). After eating our meals, we couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed, given the amount of money that it (would have) cost us (without the groupon). Luckily, the dessert came to the restaurant's rescue! The creme brulee was literally the best I've ever tasted. If I could have, I would have ordered it as my appetizer, meal AND dessert. So good. On balance, then, three stars. The meals simply weren't good enough to warrant anything more, and honestly held the restaurant back. If this place wasn't on the other side of town from Dario's Brasserie, I'd recommend getting your French-food-fix (alliteration up in this bizzle) there, and then swinging in to Le Voltaire for some great wine and dessert. Alas, dinner is more important to me than dessert, though. So I recommend anyone craving French food, who doesn't care about fancy pretense, to head to Dario's instead. That said, if you in the area Le Voltaire isn't a bad choice (provided you've got a half-off Groupon in your wallet).

This is a truly excellent restaurant - certainly in the Omaha Top 10 (if such a list exists). The cuisine is French/Continental. The wait staff and the owner are very warm and friendly. Not a large place, perhaps 15 tables in the main dining area and they also have a party room. Fairly well stocked with good quality wine. Prices are moderate to high for Omaha ($15 to $25 per dinner entree) but the food quality and ambiance justifies the cost. The Located on the Northeast corner of 156th & Dodge - same shopping center as Bakers.

Unfortunately, Open Table restricts the amount one can write. I tried reviewing there. We were seated promptly but were never assigned waitstaff so we had to ask after 15 minutes for someone to wait on us. We used a "Groupon" and ordered the crabcakes and vegetable terrine after choosing the "bistro menu" which is a fixed price for three courses. The crabcakes were more cake than crab but not unpleasant. The terrine was small in quantity but tasty. Salads were fine although I ordered the addition of blue cheese and almonds on mine and it was served on both. Entrees were the scallops with mange salsa, which were well cooked but the salsa overwhelmed the flavor of the scallops. I had the steak frites, which was a nice cut of ribeye, tender, cooked to order, however, the "frites" were right out of a bag, which is a huge disappointment for what could be a top-notch French bistro. Don't serve me fries that are frozen and coated with some seasoning?? Twice fried, fresh cut fries are the only option. And they were served with no aioli, only Dijon Mustard. The desserts were the best part of the meal, a perfect cream brulee and chocolate cake with a buttercream filling and chocolate ganache. Both were very good. The waitstaff was somewhat unprofessional. Two of the waitresses did much too much "chit chatting" with their customers while others waited for service. Our waiter told us that because of the snaffu with our being seated then ignored, he would take off the cost of our dessert. He never did. Needs work to become a place that I would frequent often.

We ate here last Friday night. First off the staff is awesome and very accomadating. We were using our Groupon and didn't even think that the place would be booked up that night! We stopped in at 7 and told us to come back at 8 and they would get us a place at the bar. They certainly took care of us from start to finish. Even though the place was full they still gave top notch service. We did a 2 course menu that included the escargot, steak and frites and duck confit. It was my first time having escargot and it won't be my last!! It was well prepared! I personally love duck and the entire dish melted in my mouth!! Perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection! My bf had the ribeye and gave the same compliments. He loved the seasoning and it came out perfect (medium rare). All in all, I can't wait to go back!! It is in our neighborhood so I look forward to the next time and recommend it to others! Granted it is one of the pricier places to eat; if you have the money you won't regret a thing!! I also recommend the house red wine!! It is delicious!

Le Voltaire is just ok, not my favorite dining experience in Omaha. The menu consists of typical French fare, and prices of French food. My husband had the duck confit and I had the coq au vin. I would probably go to Le Voltaire again, though prices were a little high for just a Friday night dinner and atmosphere unexciting.

I gave them a shot on a Tuesday night around 730pm. It wasn't too busy, maybe 3-4 tables. Inside it's nice and intimate, decorated well. They have a little bar area up front. Once in the door it was confusing. There isn't a wait to be seated sign, and the servers were busy at tables. So you don't know if you are supposed to wait or seat yourself. I stood around near the entrance for 3-4 minutes looking dumb before a server was available and gave me a table. The server was very helpful going over the specials. I started out with iced tea and a foie gras appetizer. The iced tea has a weird flavor, almost a coffee aftertaste. The foie gras on toasted bread came out fairly quick. To be honest I've never had it before. It has a very mild liver taste, I kind of liked it, but don't know for me if it was the special thing people make it out to be. (that really has nothing to do with the restraunt, I'm just saying foie gras, meh nothing special). Salad was good, nice viniagrette, not over dressed. The main course was veal loin roulade with spinach and goat cheese over some mashed potatoes with cranberry tomoato sauce. I honestly don't know what to think of this. The veal was really chewy, the meat was really tough. Also it was underdone in spots. To be honest again, I've never had veal that wasn't veal parm, which is beaten up so it's tender. I don't is veal supposed to be tough and chewy, especially loin? Beef loin is like butter, this is like an eraser. I didn't really like the tart gravy with the rest of it either, that's probably just a taste thing. Desert I had the creme brulee. That was good, I liked it. Most items on the menu for entrees are going to cost you in the $20 range, apps around $10. I really wanted to like it, but I didn't care for it. For the right person this might be a great place to go, I wasn't that person.

we ordered: (Artichokes heart wrapped in prosciutto, red bell pepper and cheese) (Six escargots baked in garlic, butter and parsley, the Classic) which was good. Just the typical escargots and good for a very good price. I was sorely disappointed with foie gras dish (Foie Gras Frais au Gros sel marin toasté $13.95) I felt like eating toasts since I could hardly taste the fois gras. I am used to having a very petite piece of toast (2" wide) and eating the foie gras as the main item. my recommendation is to give smaller toast sizes and thicker foie gras and MORE. I do not mind paying $25 for a decent small size but thick enough where I can spread it on my tiny toast. That is WORTH the space in my stomach. The Canard confit, pommes de terre rissolées $17.95 (Duck confit served potatoes sautéed in duck fat was ok but dry. We ordered other specials (beef) which was decent but nothing to write home about. It was good but it was not Oh My God good. I am a foodie and this bistro was decent. The size was too large for me but that is me. My brother finished his duck dish quickly :) I will come back for the price and decent food. It is definitely a place that I'd go back for a business dinner or lunch. But would I go back regularly??? I hope they look at their appetizers and put more focus on the quality over size. The service could use improvement. My attendant keep on dropping forks or plate while she was taking my items away. But I gave her a good tip since she such a sweet person.

The overall service was superb. The waiter knew wine and the menu very well. He was very helpful and would have turned my experience into a 4 star experience, if not for my disappointment with the food. I ordered the blanc de poulet. The reduction was packed with exquisite flavor, unfortunately, the chicken was a little dry and over cooked. For dessert I ordered the creme brulee the flavor was phenomenal, but the crunchy crystallized and caramelized sugary crust was lacking. This was unfortunately the most disappointing portion of my experience. Overall, the flavor was excellent, but the execution of the final product was disappointing. I would go back just to see if there is improvement.

If I was 50+ and looking for a romantic, quiet place to eat with my hubby, I might give this place 5 stars. But, I'm not. I'm an under 30 gal (at least for a few more months) who went out with a girlfriend for Le Voltaire's Wednesday night special - $10 for wine and an appetizer. Appetizers were good, although very small. Wine was fine. But, we were by far the youngest people there and it just wasn't the atmosphere we were looking for. A bit too quiet, a bit too formal. So, I'm giving it three stars, but you just have to understand what my perspective was at the time.

I don't come here very often, but I have to say that the food is good. The food portions, however, are a little disappointing. I got the duck, and there just wasn't a lot. Good, but the portions make me hesitate from going there again.

Amazing. Fantastic. Inexpensive! Here's what $31 did: Pate de Campagne - a fantastic pork pate with cranberries, served with a small mixed green salad with vinaigrette and cornichons. Really really tasty. Mixed green salad - yes, there was MORE salad. I'm not complaining - it was terrific. Confit de canard - this duck confit would make a Frenchman cry - skin was perfectly crispy. Add to that potatoes roasted in duck fat, and carrots and haricots verts. The duck was cooked perfectly and fork - tender. Mousse au chocolate - delicious chocolate mousse. A generous portion, served in a glass with real whipped cream. Service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing. The atmosphere is very serene, with French jazz and pop softly playing in the background. Wine list has several reasonable selections, including a carafe of house white or red as well as wines by the glass. Selections range in price from $24 - $250. Yes, the restaurant is in a strip mall, and if you were staying downtown, it would be a bit of a hike...and worth every mile.

We have been enjoying Le Voltaire annually and it just gets better each year. Tonight we did their 3 course Bistro special. I had escargot, a small salad and escolar, all of which were 'to die'. This is a Omaha restaurant that is a MUST!!

Wow, this place continues to have excellent food and service year to year. We take it in yearly on our trip to Omaha, it's located in a strip mall but is nicely decorated and has great food. They have a app/meal/dessert special price that is always good. Try it and you will return!
