One of the best Thai restaurants in the USA I've been to. Very friendly family run place with excellent food. The Pineapple Fried Rice was extremely good.

First timer but I am definitely coming back. Small place with super friendly staff. Tried the pad thai because it is the staple and I use it to measure against others. Darn good plus you can cool it down (peanuts) or heat it up (chili's in fish sauce) at your table. Definitely be careful with ratings. I ordered 10 and it was a 10. Friends ordered 5's and they thought it was more like a 7 at other places. Need to go back and start trying the rest of the menu. Thanks for all the great reviews that lead me to this place.

This meal was fantastic. The spring rolls were the best I've ever had. The chicken entree was quitw good. The restaurant building is old, but the whole place was quite clean. The staff was very friendly and prompt.

Pretty decent foodstuffs. We went with a large group and there was a slight delay in production of the dishes. That is to be understood. the 2 gracious ladies that were cooking and waiting on us were so patient and we should have been more understanding. The overall wait was understandable for our group size and there is nothing wrong because it was good. The yellow curry was my favorite and the Panang was pretty great too. The star of the meal was the Spring rolls that were far less sticky than many others I have had. The tofu was good (I wish there was more) and the overall flavor was genuine. My only gripe is the lack of labeling on the spices in the four pack dispenser. the chili oil tasted of fish and there was no warning that it contained fish oil. allergens beware. I was informed that any dish could be amended to avoid any issues and I like that open, honest shop talk. I will be back many times. mostly sunny warm times, but soon enough

Delicious and seems pretty authentic. Cash only, closes a little early. I suppose it's not the *best* Thai food I've ever had, but it's great. Recommend: soups, basil chicken, spring rolls

I've eaten here many of times and have never had a bad meal. The ladies working are always super nice and helpful. If you have a question about anything, just ask. The green papaya salad is amazing. Spicy but not too spicy, just enough to make you want to keep eating bite after bite. I've tried several different entrees but my favorite is #35 the Nuay Teay Nuea Sahb (Noodles in Ground Beef Gravy). I have no idea how to describe the taste of it but it's amazing. The last visit here, I had the Sweet Rice Coconut Milk with Thai Custard. She had just made the custard that day and even though I was super full, I seriously thought about ordering another one to eat. This is definitely our favorite Thai place in town.

Food and service were both amazing when my husband and I came in a couple of days ago! We ordered the crispy spring rolls, Poor Man's Noodles, and a curry dish. They were all delicious and I'm already craving another visit. I knocked off 1 star for the portion size - for their prices I expected to have enough to take home for another meal and I did not.

Great Thai food! Ambiance is nothing to write home about but for me, yelp is all about food. Pad Thai ($9.99 and enough for 2) was fresh and perfectly spicy (we asked for 5 out of 10 spice level). Fried spring rolls ($.99 each) were a AMAZING! Freshly made, crispy, great Thai style dipping sauce. The waitress was courteous and knowledgeable. They offer cooking classes and sell the Thai dipping sauce to customers. Next time we are in Omaha, we WILL stop by again.

At first glance, the restaurant is filled with Buddha and Thailand travel photos everywhere, which I thoroughly enjoyed. My favorite this about Asian restaurants is when the decor is a little whack, but shows pride in the different cultures. I was with my boyfriend and waiting for two more guests. Our waiter had gone up to us multiple times after telling them we were waiting for guests if we wanted to order our entrees. That was a little weird. When I was served my Thai iced tea I had ordered, I was delivered it with half the liquid running down the sides with no napkins to spare. Also, a little weird, but tastes very good! When my guests arrived and we ordered, my dad ranted about how good the pho was here so I definitely had to try it. Before the pho, we ordered the fried spring rolls and they were EXTREMELY greasy. The extra napkins I needed for my messy drink were needed to dab off the excess of oil. Also, I was a little disappointed that the fried spring rolls didn't have meat in them so they were a little flavorless to me. All four of us ordered the pho, and we all would say it was very good. I'm not sure how different Laos/Thai pho is from Vietnamese pho, but the broth was delicious! Very favorable and I loved the fact I didn't need to add any hoisin for flavor, just sriracha. The only downfall was for 11 dollars, I felt like I got stiffed for that amount. I've gone to other restaurants, gotten a 6 dollar bowl of pho and could never finish my bowl. Here, I ate every last bit and still wanted to eat something else. Overall, I would say that the bowl of pho I got was one of the better ones I've had in Omaha! I will definitely come back to try the other Thai and Laos dishes they have to offer.

Came here because of the awesome reviews on yelp; however, we left extremely disappointed and hungry afterward. We came at dinner time around 7pm. There were 6 customers in the store including us. We waited for 10 minutes until our water. There were two ladies who were cooking, cleaning, waitressing and arguing with someone about paying bills. Finally got the waitress attention for the menu and two straws. After another 15 minutes we finally ordered our foods. While we were waiting for our foods, the two ladies in the store kept on arguing with some other customers about money (yes loudly enough that everyone in the could hear them). Our foods finally arrived 25 minutes later and the portion was ridiculously small for the price. We order beef fried noodle and five spices duck noodle and the bill was $27 not including tips. The foods were heavily seasoned with fish sauce and MSG. The owner did not even once check up on us during our meal. Lastly, the store did not even credit card and there was no restroom. I would highly recommend everyone to stay away from this restaurant because there are so many other wonderful Thai restaurants in town.

Good food. Good service. Good prices spice was reasonable at a three out of ten and was well balanced. Be sure to get there before close and bring cash. ATM in the back.

I havent been here in a good number of years (due to moving away, not because I dont like it!!!) and was so happy the ladies in the kitchens are the same ones! Same annoying meter parking, same menu, same atmosphere, same yummy food. It's good things dont change. But bring change, (for the meter), and cash, for your meal :)

We had just finished a trip to the zoo and were famished from all that walking so we Yelped for nearby restaurants and found this place. The reviews were good, so we thought "Why not?" How I wish I could turn back time and not gone here. Why you ask? Read on. We walked in and there were only 2 other tables which indicated to me "They're not busy so you'll get things fast". Boy, was I wrong. Unfortunately for them, there were only 2 staff members. One lady taking orders (and making misc. food/drinks) and then one lady cooking the entrees. Side Note: They were REALLY nice and I was trying to be patient, but when you're hungry and you have a hungry 2 and 4 year old, it's not easy. So in general...water was served immediately then we waited 15 minutes before our orders were taken, then 10 minutes later the appetizer was served, then 25-30 minutes after that the food came in. You know in those movies where things are so slow that you can count the seconds ticking? This TOTALLY felt like that! The other major downside for me was the value. I don't mind paying $10-$12 dollars for a Thai dish, but to pay $10-$12 dollars and get a lunch sized portion...nuh uh girlfriend! Mai Thai which is a lot nicer, in a better location, and has tastier dishes charges the exact same except there's at least 150% more food what you pay. Makes no sense. So in summary: 1.5 Stars for Service- She tried, but it was still really slow. 3 Stars for Taste- Average, not amazing. 1 Star for Value- You're better off buying a frozen microwave Thai dish. How I wanted to like you so much more!!!

First off - congrats for cash only. The food and service here are both great. It has that "eating at someone's house" feel to me and I like that. We have had many dishes over the years and have never been disappointed. There are more and more Thai options in town but this continues to be one of our favorites.

  • Rustin L.

I must add my admiration for a well execute Thai restaurant tucked amongst the more Latino offerings surrounding this location. The spring rolls and Pad Thai were great. My Pad Thai was ordered as "middle of the road" spicy and it was great. The spice came on right at the end and didn't spoil rest of the flavors. I now have two places to go for Thai food in Omaha on opposite sides of the city. Yeah me!

This is the hidden GEM!!!! I love this place. A must stop in family run business. the food has always been prepared perfectly. The staff is always carefull to double check if the spice number is correct. from the spring rolls, lettuce wraps, to their many noodle dishes. I actually think the fried rice is the best. I have yet to try any of the curry dishes but someday will P,S Bring cash . no plastic accepted and there is not an atm close by that I could find

So delicious! We had pineapple fried rice, drunk noodles, Pad Thai, and fresh spring rolls!! Great service too!

  • Cody J.

This is my favorite Thai restaurant. The green curry is my favorite! Especially when they give it a little extra kick! They can make anything as hot or mild as you want, though. It's all made to order, authentic, and always amazing! The staff is very friendly, and remember me, when I come in.

    (5)
  • Lauren R.

Cash only, there is non-street parking on the backside of this place, and pick up never takes long! This place and Salween are on the "legit thai spicy" level, so beware if you don't like it hot...or maybe just mild on an adventurous day, stay in the 1-5 range. If you're like me and you like to clear out your sinuses with those lovely little thai chili pepper seeds floating around in your soup, this place delivers! I've had a multitude of dishes here, everything has been great and service is always wonderful. Oh! and they cater, and they do it well :)

For a great food experience ditch your credit card and bring your hunger to the cash only, no frills Loas Thai Kitchen. Order up the crispy spring rolls, Thai tea and the chicken pad Thai (level 3 - mild) and go to your happy place! Service may be a tad slow at times but it gives you time to take in the simple homey feel of the Market.

A little pricey for the small portions and the area of town you're in, but the quality was there.

  • Erin F.

Love love love love love. A friend recommend this as the best Thai restaurant in Omaha and I think it is some of the best Thai I've ever had. I don't like spicy food but find some places food tastes bland without the spiciness. That is not true at Laos. I got the chicken pad thai and loved all the flavor in the dish despite the lack of heat. The veggie spring rolls were delicious as well. The waitress was so nice, the restaurant was clean, and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. I couldn't ask for anything more and plan to come back here again and again.

  • Moira R.

Everyone has their favorite Thai restaurant and this is hands-down mine, as well as one of my favorite restaurants overall. I always order the Pad Thai and add generous amounts of the sweet Thai sauce (yellow bottle) and peanuts. There is also a hotter sauce in a red bottle. During lunch all entrees are served with a fried spring roll. The heat level is on a scale of 1-10 and their scale is pretty standard - I have a moderate heat tolerance and order a 4 or 5, which is perfect. The owners are the sweetest family and service is always very friendly and everything is made to order. If you want some out-of-this-world Thai food, this is the place to get it. Just a heads up, it is cash only.

  • Robert N.

It's like I get to eat at my long-lost Thai Grandma's, anytime I want, as long as I bring cash. Delicious food served by friendly people. Parking can be a pain.

I came to check out this Thai restaurant after reading plenty of positive reviews on Yelp. With an open kitchen in the back, each table was vertically arranged with colorful tablecloths and cultural artifacts all along the walls. The ambiance is casual and the interior is good for groups. I was the only customer dining in but there were plenty of foot traffic for take outs. I first tried the Som Tom ($8.99) that encompassed shredded green papaya, fish sauce, lime, chili, and tomatoes. The papaya salad came with plenty of heat, but the fresh, crispy texture was missing. The dish could also use a sprinkle of peanuts, dried shrimp or raw crab to further complicate both textures and flavors. I was disappointed. Then I tried the Kao Nahn Pedd ($9.99) that came with roast duck, chili, and broccoli. The duck was way too dry and the presence of brown chili sauce and bitter broccoli made it into an awful Chinese stir-fry. The only bright spot was their complimentary egg roll that was crispy, fresh, and delicious with plenty of cabbage and glass noodles at the center. Service was friendly and brief. There was too much compromise in these dishes along with Western and Chinese influences for me to rate them higher. 1.5 stars for the experience. I won't be coming back.

This is my home kitchen away from home. We come here so often they have gotten to know not only our dietary needs, but us in general. Last time I was there she noticed I had a lil sniffle and hooked me up with more spice than usual. Some of our favorites include the Pad Thai, yellow curry with tofu, curry fried rice, fresh spring rolls, and their soups are worth a trip in a blizzard. Prices are very reasonable and portions are big enough for leftovers. Bring cash, they don't accept any other form of payment. I guess there's parking in the back, but I have never had a problem finding parking in the street.

Wow I've lived here for a year (moved from Washington DC) and was really missing Thai food. This place did not disappoint! We got happy meatballs appetizer and pad Thai and Thai pepper steak. Everything was very fresh, very hot, and appropriately spicy when we asked for medium heat. Will definitely visit again! Excellent food!

This is the best Thai food in Omaha! I love the atmosphere. It's cozy and inviting. The service is friendly and you can see right into the kitchen. The cook is always smiling back at me. I work down town and have lunch here often. I have been going here to eat for ten years plus and will tell anyone who asks that it is delicious and they should try it.

  • Colleen L.

Hole-in-the-wall is accurate. It ain't pretty... but its delicious! I'm picky about my Thai food, and they get the spice level correct and all the flavor just how I like it. It is surprising to find perfection at this edge of town, but there it is!

    (5)
  • Mary-Anne H.

Small little hole in the wall. You have to park on the street, but it never really was an issue for my husband and I. People don't come to this place for the ambiance, they come here for the FOOD. Delicious indeed, and the owner is such a funny lady. She'll help you out if you're new to Thai food :) Don't forget, CASH ONLY!

I was the only 'gaijin' in Laos Thai when I ate here; everyone else was Thai. Real Thai people speaking Thai - not 2nd generation Thai. Always a good sign. The waitress speaks English well. I enjoyed a Thai iced tea and the crispy vegetable spring rolls and pad thai. (OK, I know that's totally cliché meal to order, but did I mention I'm a gaijin?). ; ) Laos Thai prepared the spice level of the meal to my liking and serves really fresh-cut lime wedges. The pad thai is somehow more flavorful than others I've had. They also have a small 'market' (shelves) up front where you can buy various Thai spices if you want to try making this wonderful stuff at home.

Good Thai. Appropriate spicyness levels appreciated. CASH ONLY. A bit hard to find, located at 4520 S. 24th Street. Google Maps had difficult time locating, so after I was close, I parked an walked a couple blocks. Ordered takeout over the phone at around 735pm, when the hours said they closed at 8pm. No matter, no fuss. Ordered Tohm Kai Gai, Pad Thai, and Thai Tea to go. After arriving, got takeout and paid - cash only. Few diners in place were still inside, the owners/staff made no attempt to close them out or push them at closing time. Friendly and good staff. Onto the food. Tohm Kai Gai - soup was decent, but I expected more after I (was spoiled) ate at Salween. Tasted a bit more stale than Salween's, but I guess that could be in part to the later arrival? I don't know, but I expected more spice and flavor. They give you a generous serving of sticky rice to go with it. Pad Thai - great! I'd say this combo Pad Thai is slightly better than Salween's, due in part to amount of meat in dish. Right proportions, right flavors. I wasn't shorted on meat here. Thai Tea - nothing special, flavors were great. Tasted a bit of something (either ginger or cinnamon), and as always, was really sweet (probably due to evaporated milk or sugar content). Overall, was $29 for those items. A bit more pricey than Salween, but more meat in Pad Thai is always good! Restaurant itself is hole-in-the-wall, seats maybe 25 total. Felt like they needed some more pictures of menu, so I offered to post here after reviewing. Hopefully you can read them correctly (looks like the price changes sporadically).

This place has the best Thai food in Omaha. We have been looking for a place since moving back from Guam. This place is it! It's cash only and nothing fancy. Go for the food.

Excellent pad Thai and red curry. This place was spicy- I ordered mild and it was spicier than I expected! Very friendly waitress, she even brought a toy over for our daughter. Excellent food, excellent service, a must try in Omaha. Only bummer- cash only and pay to park out front. Parking in back was totally full from other businesses on a weekday at 1 pm.

  • Kerry G.

Oh man, why didn't I try this place years ago? It will take a few more visits to be sure, but I'm pretty sure it just got added to our short list of favorite Thai restaurants in Omaha (the other two being Bangkok Cuisine and Thai Spice). It's a real hole in the wall with zero ambiance but the food was excellent! We got one cup of the Tom Yum Gai and one of the tofu soup, which were both light and flavorful. Since I'm picky about Pad Thai, we stuck with brown sauces to be on the safe side and got Shrimp Rad Nar and Chicken Drunk Noodles. Both came out attractively presented and bursting with fresh, crisp veggies. I was also impressed by the huge, juicy shrimp in the rad nar. The service was friendly but a little slow. Overall, a great experience. We will definitely be back!

I was here on a business trip with two others at lunchtime. It was a very easy location to find and we were able to park right out front - those are pluses. The ambiance was really weird, like Thai crossed with an old school diner. Only Thai place I've ever been with pop-country music playing. I had cashew tofu, the others had meat dishes. The cashew tofu was in a chili sauce, which isn't how cashew dishes are usually served, but it was very good. The others were also very pleased with the food. The -1 star is because, given the ambiance and location, the food was actually a little overpriced. There was no lunch menu and the dish I ordered cost more than it would have at almost any Thai restaurant in Chicago, probably all of which would have had a less weird ambiance.

Laos Thai Market started about 16 years ago as an Asian market with a small restaurant attached. Today, it's a successful restaurant with a very down home feel. As other Yelp reviewers have remarked, when you step into the restaurant you feel like you've stepped into your Thai grandmother's kitchen. The staff is talking on the phone; Thai TV is on the tube; and the grandmother is chatting with friends at a nearby table while eating her bowl of rice noodle soup. Your stomach is already thanking you for the good things to come. Before I get to the review, a quick comment about the location. As you drive from the north down South 24th Street, you can't help but wonder wether you're in the right place. The area is heavily Hispanic, with lots of restaurantes and tiendas clearly catering to a Hispanic customer base. The area has a very urban feel to it, which in my opinion only adds to the character. There is a Catholic church and elementary school right across the street. OK, now for the food. My wife and I started with the fresh spring roll and fish cakes. The spring roll was OK; we could have used a little more cilantro and bean sprouts for a fuller flavor and texture profile. (For those in Kansas City, the spring rolls at Saigon 39 set the standard.) The fish cakes were great. My wife ordered the Poor Man's Noodles and I had the Drunken Noodles. The Poor Man's Noodles were really good, so good in fact that we switched dishes a third of the way through. (I like sweet foods and so LOVED the Poor Man's Noodles.) The Drunken Noodles (Phad See Eaw to fans of Thai food) were OK, but we've had better at The Thai Place in Kansas City. There were many more dishes on the menu we would have liked to try. The next time we are in Omaha we will definitely make the effort to stop by Laos Thai Market.

I'm going to go ahead and reiterate what some other reviewers have written; cash only. You know you have a wallet full of plastic, and you better do something about that or you're going to end up washing dishes. There's actually a Wells Fargo right next door, so you're gonna be ok. I've only tried the Pad Thai so far, but it was amazing. It's probably my favorite PT now. I look forward to getting an opportunity to try some other stuff, and I have a feeling it's going to work out just fine. It was fairly slow on a Friday night, and I guess that's probably mainly because of the location. You probably never really have to worry about getting a table. The food took a little while to come out, so you might want to bring someone that can put a conversation together. If you start to doubt your decision on the person or the food while you're waiting, just try to have a little faith and hang in there. The area appears to be a little sketchy. The next block over was taped off with crime scene ribbon when I left, and I'm seriously pretty sure someone got capped while I was enjoying my delicious Pad Thai. I'm just saying you might want to make sure you lock your car up and keep your girl/guy close. Don't let that steer you away though, because the food is worth the risk of getting murdered/raped/mugged.

Overall (8/10) - I'm happy Food (8/10) - Great, small-ish portions Price (7/10) - Decent CASH ONLY First thing, I get a viet coffee. It makes me happy, and it's made well (unlike Bangkok Cuisine). Strong back coffee with condensed milk, mmmmm tasty. The noodle dishes here are great, and I love their service. Phad Thai, pad see ew, curries, all on point. This has been the best place in omaha to date that I found for Thai food. Please pay this place a visit, and you will be happily rewarded! BTW they will ask you how spicy you like it. I get an 8/10, which is spicy enough for me (I like spicy). Will I be back? YESsir

We started with some fresh spring rolls (in lieu of fried) then lo and behold... free fried spring rolls! One comes with each meal, apparently. I've never met a fresh spring roll I didn't like, so obviously those were good. And the fried ones were nice crispy/flaky and as light as anything fried can be under the circumstances. Of course I had to try their Thai iced tea, which they served in a nice big hurricane glass. For $2, the price was pretty typical, but the tea was several notches above average. We took our time ordering, but I settled on chicken pad Thai (my Thai-food measuring stick) and I was very pleased with the result. Two kinds of noodles, identifiable vegetables, plenty of meat and plenty of sauce. Though, I did end up adding more chili garlic and sweet sauces, which are brought out to each table in ketsup and mustard bottles. And I was so distracted I totally forgot about trying the other condiments supplied - traditionally - in the condiment caddy before it was whisked away to another table. Bottom line is that I need to go back soon to solidify my rating. I teetered on the border of five stars because it's so classically a family run restaurant and the food was really good, but even though it might be the best Thai food in town, I'm not positive of that yet. Next time, I'll be ordering a soup and a curry.

Went here with a couple of co-workers for lunch. Is it fancy inside? Nope. Kind of a hole in the wall place. Might have walked past it if my co-worker didn't know where it was. The wait staff was nice. And the owner of the restaurant came to out table and chatted with us during the lunch. We had fresh spring rolls for appetizers, which were good. I'm not a peanut fan, so the sauce that came with them was just okay. (But, if you like peanut sauces, you'll be fine.) I ordered the yellow curry with tofu. I ordered a five in the spicy level. Not too spicy and pretty tasty. My lunch mates ordered dishes with a five spice level and both complained about them being too spicy (although both still ate most of it). When the owner came over and we told them that some people's food was too spicy, she offered to re-make the dishes, which I thought was nice. Not at all defensive or upset. I've been to a gazillion Thai places in a few different cities--this ranks about in the middle. I'd go again, for sure. Prices are reasonable and even at lunch time, the wait wasn't crazy long. Do I dream about their food when I haven't been there in awhile? Not really. It was good, but not a stand out.

Another one of the first places I went to in Omaha. They opened in 1996. I had just moved here and I read a review in the Reader. I immediately went down. This is a small restaurant in the back of the Thai Grocery. It is located directly across the street from South High School. Street parking is usually your best bet although there is a little parking lot in the back. I don't usually park back there--I tried to once and there was a woman passed out lying against the building--kind of freaked me out. What I love about this place is that you can go in, watch Brenda, Darunee or Lucky cook your meal, watch them sit at a table and pull basil leaves. It's just great. I love their Drunk Noodles, spring rolls and Tom Kai Gai. They are all fabulous. They have good currys, beef salad, and I love the mango with sweet rice (although they don't always have it--i guess they have to have a good mango!) This is the same group that opened Thai Spice in 1997 and a second Thai Kitchen out west recently. Their cooking classes are also great. You sit in a "U" while they cook for you. The recipes are often cryptic. People are begging for exact amounts and Lucky may say, just add it till it tastes right. THey will teach whatever the group wants to learn, which is great because then you can purchase the ingredients there and cook yourself at home. You have to ask but they do have kaffir lime leaves for purchase. We regularly make the Tom Kai Gai, curries, and the spring rolls. We are really lucky to have such a place in Omaha.

Can it be? A legit asian place in Omaha?? Yup. Although i'm not super crazy about Thai food, Laos Thais Market puts out a good product. The Tom Yum rivaled anything I've had in Honolulu or Chicago. I got the yellow curry at spiciness 8/10...it wasn't real spicy. But maybe I just have a high tolerance? In any case, highly recommended! Only problem, or thing to note, is that it's cash only.

I may revise my review to a five after a few more visits, but I was very happy with my dinner there today. The spring rolls were fresh and delicious, served with homemade sweet chili sauce. I had one of the special Thai dishes listed on the last page of the menu (I can't remember the exact name-something about clear noodles, but it was #60 I believe), which was yummy. A bit different than most of the Thai food I've had, this dish was interesting with it's tiny clear noodles. To drink I got a Thai coffee, which I haven't seen before. It was just as good as Thai iced tea, and I enjoyed trying something different. When she asked how spicy I wanted my dinner, I said 7, and that I like my nose to run a bit when I'm eating Thai food. It wasn't nearly as spicy as this rating is at most other restaurants, so I added quite a bit of the condiments provided at the table (I recommend the one with the chunks of green and red chilis floating in it if you like spice). The staff was friendly, food came out quickly, and everything was great. I'll be back!

Let me start off by saying, thank you! To the owner and super friendly lady who let us sit down to eat 10 minuets before they closed. You spared us from fast food!! This place is a really eclectic place. It basically looks like you sat down for dinner at your Thai friends house. Little knick-knacks are stacked on the shelf along the wall, paintings and posters line some walls, and the waitress is quite motherly too. She was super nice and even gave us some spring rolls.... on the house. (I'm guessing cause she was closing up for the day, and we were the last ones in) We all split a few dishes, since I must admit the place is a little pricey for Thai food. We had the green curry, drunken noodled, and thom yum soup to start. The thom yum was delicious. Dropped in a few slivers of thai chili peppers and it really took it to the next level. The broth was perfect and the tofu was nice and firm. The Drunken noodles were nicely stir fried, crunchy veggies. Well seasoned. Our favorite dish was the green curry. The sauce was perfect! A little more lemongrass-y then most curries I've had but thats what made this most likely the best green curry I have ever had. Great place, I would definitely stop in again when I am in Omaha.

Far and away one of the best Thai restaurants I have been to. Have enjoyed everything I order from them. Especially like their soups and salads. Only downside is that they only take cash, which is the norm for more of the restaurants and shops in that area. Also, service can be a bit slow so budget at least an hour for a meal there.

Laos Thai Market has a ton of stuff going for it. First, its an in exciting and interesting environment, its own ambiance matching the environment. The prices were fantastic and the food was equally as good. I had the fresh spring rolls which are a match to Osha in San Francisco. That is saying a lot imho. I had the Beef Ball noodle soup which was really tasty and comparable to Pho. They gave me a lot of different spice options and choices. The one drawback is probably their times, only being open till 730 and my conference going to 630 means I can't eat there again tonight.

Totally solid. Not exciting, but not bad at all. Portions seemed a bit small for the price. The menu lists chicken, beef, shrimp, and pork as your meat options, but my wife and I both asked for tofu with our dishes and they didn't bat an eye. We were not charged extra for having tofu as our "meat". It was particularly well-prepared and probably the highlight of the meal. I got the yellow curry and my wife had basil fried rice, and both were tasty. The Thai Tea was well-priced and as tasty as we find it anywhere. Personally, I found the ambiance and decor delightfully dinky. Perfect spot for having a quiet bite. There are many interesting objects to catch your eye, and while it certainly resembles more of a greasy spoon than a fine dining establishment, the tablecloths were gorgeous and there were many nice touches overall.

Just awesome! We eat here twice a year on our semiannual business trip. The food and service never disappoint!

I went here for dinner last night with a friend. I had the Pad Thai with chicken and she had Drunken Noodles with Tofu. Both dishes were very good. We also had Papaya Salad, Spring Rolls, and Sweet Rice with Mango. We loved all of it! As requested, the server/owner/cook made sure that my friend's dishes did not have fish sauce since she is a vegetarian. Food - amazingly tasty Service - right on! Atmosphere - quiet, homey, pleasant We will definitely go again. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Oh, boy. While this wasn't the best Thai food I've had, it's certainly not the worst, either. I do give them an "A" for effort, that's for sure. The place is converted from what used to be apparently a half-market, half-kitchen, now into a little restaurant. Though it's not barebones, they definitely have little upkeep in the way of setting the tone with decor and furniture and table setting/dishware appointments. It's sort of dive-y that way, but not in a bad sense, if you get how I mean. We were there around 7 on a Friday, and the tables were about 2/3 filled. Tom ka and tom yum soups were okay - much better than my homemade version - but not better than what I've had elsewhere. Spring rolls didn't have shrimp, maybe a piece of tofu? in there, but they were fresh, and I liked the peanutty sauce that accompanied them. Entrees: beef drunken noodles were like no other I've had anywhere else, so either they gave us the wrong dish, or they have their own special recipe for it - almost tasted like pad thai with beef, minus the egg. Mind you, it still tasted good, just not what I was expecting for drunken noodles. Our other selection was green curry chicken - again, not bad, but lacked a certain something in comparison to other versions I've had, and the vegetables consisted only of bamboo shoots. I'm used to eggplant and baby corn added in there as well. Overall, it's a decent choice if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get here.

Great Thai food. Make sure to get everything, fresh spring rolls, soup, main course, dessert.

I highly recommend this restaurant. Excellent Thai food. We ordered the spring rolls which were good and enjoyed the accompanying sauces. The papaya salad was excellent with a nice slow burn from the spiciness and not too fishy. Very refreshing. The thom yum soup with shrimp was also amazing. Five large tasty shrimps in the bowl of soup with a nice sweet and sour and lemongrass flavor. The #34 noodle dish we ordered was also good. Moving here from MN which has a lot of Thai restaurants I was worried I wouldn't be able to find a good Thai restaurant in Omaha but after eating at Laos Thai market I have found my Omaha Thai food fix location. Definitely will be back. Only drawbacks were somewhat slow service and it is very casual. Neither of these bothered me too much.

This is my favorite Thai Resturant in Omaha. The food is authentic. The woman who owns the place cooks everything to order. This means that everyone at your table might not get their food at the same time but its definately worth the wait. The restaurant is in an old converted grocery store. The tables are covered with some sort of latex that reminds me of the plastic furniture covers from the 60s and 70s. This restaurant is worth the trip to South Omaha.

Thai domination. This place is excellent. A little out of the way (off 24th & L) in a part of town that you typically go to for Mexican food goodness, but great nonetheless. Located in a strip mall and sort of "hides in plain sight". Look close for the Thai signage. I had the Pad Thai, which was served up in a large portion with peanuts and various greenery for $7.99. You can choose the heat (levels 1-10), I had 3 and would consider it very mild. Will probably up it to 5 or 6 next time. Also came with a crispy spring roll. Served very quickly to-go. Would be easy to come here on a 30 minute lunch and make it back to work on time, if you're in the area. CASH ONLY. Luckily, I had enough to cover it, otherwise would have been embarrassed. Will recommend this as the place for thai food in Omaha to out of towners from now on. Hours are 11a-7p.

Prior experience has taught me that Yelp reviews for Asian restaurants in Omaha carry as might weight as a feather. I've been to a few places with rave reviews to only find terrible food that made me yearn for Panda Express. So I was skeptical when I saw 4.5 stars for this place. Surprisingly, Laos Thai Market did not disappoint. I had the Pad Thai and an order of Thai Fried Rice and they were acceptable and pretty authentic renditions of the popular dishes. While the food is pricey, a couple dollars per dish more than what I usually pay, you probably won't find anything better in Omaha.

This is the best Thai food we have had in Nebraska. We had a Thai Iced Tea, the crispy spring rolls, and the green and red curries. The curries are ordered on a spiciness scale from 1 to 10 - we had the green at a 5 and the red at a 7. The curries were packed with veggies - largely bamboo shoots and carrots - with pieces of chicken as the protein. They came with rice and shredded carrots and cabbage as accents. They were creamy, spicy (especially the red!), and piping hot. We couldn't stop eating them, even with steam coming off, clearly just made. The spring rolls were phenomenal, being perfectly cooked, light in texture even though they were fried, and served with two sauces in ketchup and mustard bottles (spicy red chili sauce and a sweeter sauce). The Thai iced tea was a perfect accompaniment, taking the heat away. The only bad thing about this place is the parking, largely street, but we had no trouble finding a spot on a Thursday afternoon. For Lincolnites, the food at this place blows Blue Orchid out of the water. The atmosphere is not as nice as Blue Orchid, nor is there alcohol (to our memory), but it's well worth the drive to Omaha.

Pretty good. Not the usual 'sweet' pad Thai but clean and my munchkins loved it. Ginger chicken was tasty as well. Didn't get the immediate affect from MSG so maybe low usage or none. Will try again.

Extremely informal (as in more so than a diner, with a fridge sitting adjacent to the dining area). But unique silk tablecloths under glass at each table. I had the drunken noodles made "thai spicy" (warning: when you say thai spicy they really do thai spicy. I still feel it.) and the dish was outstanding. The service was A+; the lady was so nice and accommodating to my requests.

Finally, a nice and cheap thai food place! From the outside it looks like you're walking into a thai plant shop with groceries. But, just go inside, it's a quaint little restaurant. Everything is about 8.99...noodles, curries, etc. And you get a pretty nice quantity of food! It is kind of in the ghetto, but definitely worth it. Apparently the cook gives cooking lessons, something I'd definitely be interested in if i had the time. lol. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good asian food in Omaha (trust me, there isnt a lot of places).

This is probably one of the best authentic Thai restaurants in the midwest. I had the Thai iced tea, fresh spring rolls, and green curry. The veggies were extremely fresh and they make the food to order. I had the curry medium, and found it to be a typical medium spiciness, maybe on the spicier side if you're not used to Thai. As stated in other reviews, they only accept cash, so come prepared. I would highly recommend Laos Thai Market.

After being disappointed to find Mother India closed on Mondays, we turned to Thai Kitchen (AKA Laos Thai Market)...to find it closed at 6 pm. However, we were in luck because the lovely women working there let us in, told us to walk down the street to the Wells Fargo to get cash, and come back and they would cook for us because they were still there, so why not. The food was great! My husband said the Pad Thai was the best he has ever had. I had the yellow curry which was also wonderful, though I'm not sure they believed me when I said I liked my food spicy as it could have had much more of a punch. I would go back in a heartbeat if for no other reason than the amazing service and kind hospitality, but luckily the food is great too, and the place is so quaint it makes you feel at home.

Better than Bangkok. Forgot the name/number of my lunch salad/dish but it was tasty...and big enough to take half home with me. As I recall it was some sort of rice vermicelli salad...perhaps some cabbage thrown into the mix, adequate spice, and a little on the salty side. Thai Iced Tea gave me a big enough buzz to blast through the rest of my work day.

I liked it. Their location is a little out of my way but I made a special trip with friends to check it out. We found out when we arrived that they are CASH ONLY so be prepared when you go, we had to get creative. I had a spicy Pad Thai and was very impressed. The flavor was great, and the spice was enough to open my sinuses. The appetizers were a little average but of course I still ate them.

As a long time fan of Thai Pepper, I was amazed to discover that Laos was even better. We had papaya salad, yellow curry and drunken noodles and all were outstanding. Thai food this good and friendly service more than makes up for the drive South and the fact that they don't take credit cards. Note that the website linked above is not technically for this restaurant, as they are no longer affiliated. However, the menu linked therein for Thai Kitchen in West O is pretty well identical to the take out menu from Laos.

Great food, great prices! You get a TON of food at this place and is very tasty. By far the best Thai restaurant in Omaha. I've pretty much tried most Thai places here and this one is the best IMO. This would be a great place for a lunch or casual dinner. Not really a first date atmosphere where you want to dress and impress. More like, you're in a steady relationship and don't really care what you look like and not looking to impress your significant other, lol. The owner lady is very nice and so are the waitresses. My friend ordered a 10 on the spicy scale and the lady got scared and talked him down to a 9. Overall, a great restaurant that probably isn't the first places to come to mind if you are looking for Thai food but this place is better than any Thai place in town!

I love this place! The food puts me in a great mood instantly. Everything is fantastic and the portions are so generous. The owner genuinely cares and takes her time to explain the menu and helps you find exactly what you are looking for, my food was made to order! The basil chicken and yellow curry are my favorites, but there is so much goodness to choose from your taste buds will never get bored. Please support this local owned business, its by far the best in town!

Love Thai Kitchen, miss Thai Kitchen! Thai Kitchen is a wonderful little gem in South O - dine in or carry out the food was always perfect! Oh what I wouldn't do for a Thai Iced Tea, some fresh vegetarian spring rolls, and a green curry with tofu! Omaha is spoiled with the Thai food - remember that and eat it often! The crew here was always so friendly and got my picky no this no that order correct every time. Plus if you are wanting to attempt making Thai food on your own the groceries are right here. However, I leave the Thai food cooking to the professionals!

Great food and friendly staff. Prices can be a bit high but for Thai food it is average. They are CASH ONLY. Also they are a bit slow so don't expect to drop in and get takeout in 2 minutes. It is worth the wait!

I've tried all the Thai places in town and Laos Thai is the best, by far. The food is more flavorful and more spicy than the others...the Thai restaurant on bob boozer rd is just plain bad, really I have to be honest because it would likely fail health inspections with the leaking toilets, cans of old veggies cluttering the hallway and jars of "spice" that sit out on the tables. My husband and I got sick there several times. The owner is also very pushy and gives you nasty looks if you don't order a drink and dessert. Laos Thai is SO much better. The food is fresh and the owner is very nice. Enough said.

This is my favorite Thai restaurant. The green curry is my favorite! Especially when they give it a little extra kick! They can make anything as hot or mild as you want, though. It's all made to order, authentic, and always amazing! The staff is very friendly, and remember me, when I come in.

Hole-in-the-wall is accurate. It ain't pretty... but its delicious! I'm picky about my Thai food, and they get the spice level correct and all the flavor just how I like it. It is surprising to find perfection at this edge of town, but there it is!

    (4)
  • Scott R.

Great food and friendly staff. Prices can be a bit high but for Thai food it is average. They are CASH ONLY. Also they are a bit slow so don't expect to drop in and get takeout in 2 minutes. It is worth the wait!

Very delicious yellow curry and killer fresh spring rolls! If you want Thai you can't get a better meal than this.
