Love this La Mesa's. When I go to Omaha.. La Mesa's is on the top of my list. I like this location the best.

La Mesa is not even close to being the best Mexican food in Omaha. Food is very bland. "Salsa" if you can call it that, is canned tomato sauce with a few green leaves. Was there tonight. We had the worst waiter ever. Miguel sucked. He brought the drinks, we waiting a really long time for our food. When it came the plate was too hot to touch. He basically dropped it on the table and we never saw him again....well I saw him, standing around by the order entry machine the whole time. When he did walk by we flagged him down to get our water glasses refilled. He took one. Then we had to flag him down for our check. He never asked how the food was or if we needed anything. He never smiled or said thank you or bite me or anything. We will not be going back.

Nice decor, good atmosphere. Ordered shredded beef chimichanga, which was very good, other person ordered burrito and an enchilada..(he couldn't tell the difference between the two other than one was much smaller), he was happy with the flavor. They immediately give you chips and salsa which is good because after that we didn't see our waiter for quite a while, prob about 15 min at least. Couldn't understand the delay since there were plenty of staff sitting in the bar and only 6 tables that were occupied by customers in the restaurant. Other than the snail service, the food was good and love the chips and salsa!

If the salsa is good, chances are the food is at the very least edible, & this salsa was tasty! I could have just filled up on chips & salsa, but lucky for my taste buds, I didn't :) The Shrimp Cocktail was good. It actually had plenty of shrimp, an ingredient that is oddly left out many a times! The Tacos de Carne Asada plate came with 3 tacos. More than enough for me! Plenty of meat, cooked well & it came with pico de gallo & a green tomatillo sauce. I used both liberally on each taco & found them all delectable. The location is large enough so that even though it was a busy lunch hour, I didn't have to wait to be seated. Like!

God I truly hate this place. I have had several things on the menu and everything was absolutely terrible. If you have to eat here do not order the chicken, it is as tough as beef jerky. Seriously it's really bad. I would rather go to Taco Bell for fine dining instead of La Mesa. One word: Yuck!!!!!

I took a spot at the bar because, when I travel, I usually go solo and I hate to wait. The seats were much lower than I'd expected, so I had a flashback to when I was twelve, the last time I remember not being quite tall enough to sit at a bar normally. Weird and funny. So, to start, Modelo Especial. They had Negro Modelo, Tecate, Carta Blanca, Dos Equis, Pacifico, El Presidente, all the favorites. The Modelo was fresh, so that's a win. Skunky Modelo is saddening. Guacamole Dip... worth it. Even with the obligatory chips and (excellent) salsa, I went for the guacamole because when it's done correctly, it's very good. Salty and tasty, correct. I went hot and spicy, the Chili Colorado... way hot, perfecto. In fact, much spicier than I usually see, maybe people have more tolerance for heat in Nebraska. Much appreciated. I didn't really want to construct tortillas but whatever, I did and it was good. I didn't get dessert but I did notice a large wall of tequilas. It looked like a gorgeous challenge to anyone thinking about Tequila Night. Brands I'd never heard of or seen, on glass shelving which let you peek at the main dining area. The whole experience was rather pleasant and I was in and out in 45 minutes. A win for all. --#

The food is ok. Nothing nears as good Senior Matas was but still good. The service on the other hand is pretty poor. Even on slow week day evenings the waiters seem overwhelmed.

Really, this is not Mexican food. Voted best in Omaha???? Paaaaalease! If you are looking for bland and generally lousy service, then you have found your place. Omaha residents, get a grip! This place is barely a step above Taco Bell!

Enchilada, wow. Margaritas, also wow. Service, slow and meh. You can wear big hats. Or so guest pictures suggest. But I did not get to. :( Haiku review.

First time here. Awesome meal! They were packed. We got seated within five minutes. The food was out in about fifteen minutes and was very good. The margarita was big enough for two. Great experience, looking forward to next visit!

I like the decor in this place with the waterfall in the middle of the room. Very good feel for Mexico, nice and colorful! The Margaritas are good and I love the glasses they are served in! I always get one thing here and that is the Chicken Chimichanga, it is large and stuffed with lots of white meat! It has a good white cheese sauce smothered on top and is served with beans and rice on the side. The best part is you get sour cream, pico, and lettuce to dress the Chimichanga. Reasonable prices and friendly service.

Service was very slow.Quality of food was less than good. Drink was horrible. When first seated I ordered a Top Shelf Margarita that didnt arrive at table until after food was served AND I had to remind waitress. Drink was absolutely horrible. Tasted like pure mix. Hurts to say this but Hectors will be the first consideration next time we want a good Mexican meal.

They always treat us well here. We've never had an issue with the food. Occasionally we have slower service or a language barrier, but overall good experiences.

Wow, that experience was almost painful! I'm sad that anyone would recommend this place. Food and service were horrible, yuck!

This is American-ized mexican. Really bad. Usually this is a 3-star place. Salsa was barely salsa. Canned stuff with a little cilantro added. Chicken burritos filled with dry chicken, and beans that seemed to be diluted with their red sauce. Rice was ok. I don't mind the chain style mexican restaurants that while independent, sell almost exactly the same stuff. But this place didn't even hit that standard today. Was craving Abelardos, but had a coupon for la Mesa and really kick myself now.

I have been to La Mesa a couple of times. Each time, I am impressed. The service is excellent. Very responsive to seat you, bring you drinks, take your order, deliver your food. The atmosphere is truly gorgeous; love the fountain in the middle of the restaurant. The portions of food are HUGE. You will not walk away hungry from here. I order the nachos where you can choose beef or chicken. I order the chicken. Excellent flavors abound. The white cheese queso dip and chips are to die for. The prices are definitely in line with what you would pay at a large chain restaurant. One of my favorite restaurants in Omaha.

I haven't had the chance to try very many Mexican places in Omaha, so for now this is my favorite. The atmosphere and service are good enough to keep me coming back, but not the best I have ever had. The chips and salsa are warm and always fresh. I love the chicken taco salad, it has a flakey delicious shell and the chicken is nicely seasoned and of good quality. I also really like the chicken fajita nachos. My favorite thing about La Mesa is their margarita happy hour! You can get a top shelf margarita for the price of a normal margarita, and they are amazing! Just a warning, if you decide to get two...you may not be able to stand up!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
