Forget how kool the signs are; La Casa is simply the BEST pizza in Omaha. Chicken with artichoke heart's amazing. Fried ravioli sauce is rich, sweet, and interesting. Quite the opposite of the pizza sauce, which is light and tangy in a good way. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!

I LOVE La Casa. I used to always get the cheese pizza from the 84th location and never really thought that this one was much different. I didn't realize they had a full menu. Every single thing I have had here is very, very good. The eggplant parmesan is delicious and one of my favorite foods. It is a little expensive but I get 2 meals out of it, and it comes with a salad. The creamy romano dressing is really good. I've tried the eggplant parmesan, broccoli lasagna, a make your own calzone, the tomato pasta, a couple of appetizers, and two different pizza varieties. They were all delicious. I don't think service has ever been a problem. We usually go right when they open on Saturday so we don't have to wait for a table. We have always had good service.

One of the best restaurants I've been to for the ol' pizza/pasta standby. You can't go wrong with the thin crust pizzas, they are baked to perfection. I'm more of a pasta girl, and am never disappointed with the Mostacollli dinner. Plus it comes with this super soft white bread to sop up the last of the sauce. I'm salivating thinking about it right now!

Let me say that this has always been one of my families' favorite pizza places growing up. The pizza is consistently great. I believe they fancy themselves as a napoletana pizzeria. I'm not so sure about that. The pizzas are rectangle and very thin. Even the crust is pretty thin. I highly doubt they are cooked in a wood fired oven but I guess I don't know for sure. Now I guess you don't have to be DOC certified to call your pizza napoletana but I'm just expecting a hand tossed (normally round) pie with a puffy, slightly charred crust with a soft chewy interior. Of course the middle would be very thin like La Casa's pizza. I'm just trying to caution those who might be expecting a true napoletana pizza. Some people are pizza snobs. While I don't consider myself one, I probably just proved otherwise. I want to reiterate that I love this pizza and it to me it is unique and definitely worth trying. Things you cannot go wrong with: Hamburger pizza Onion rings toasted ravioli The place is old and has character. (that is the nice way of saying it isn't the prettiest place to eat and the bar smelled a touch musty) If it weren't for the slightly unpleasant odor and lack luster bartender I would have given it 5 stars

Goood pizza. I've only had take-out, so I don't have much to say for the atmosphere or service (yet), but this is some good, cheap pizza.

La Casa has decent pizza, but it is a bit pricey. A large vegetarian combo is $18.49 plus tax. It's not my favorite pizza, but every so often I do eat here. I do like their mostaccioli with marinara sauce. However, for $7.99, it's not that great of a deal for what is essentially just pasta, sauce, and a little cheese. It does come with a dinner salad, but I think they should charge maybe $1 less or something for the vegetarian pastas. The atmosphere inside is decent, and they also have a take-out area. All around, I think La Casa is a fairly average pizza/pasta restaurant, but they do have quite a few vegetarian options available, so it's certainly worth checking out.

This is the best pizza I have ever eaten. La Casa pizza crushes anything we have here in Seattle. I would dine there on a regular basis if afforded the luxury of a Seattle location! The crust is a synergy of the paper thin "authentic" style that is all the rage here in the Puget Sound and traditional New York style. Basically, it is a unique crust that has it's roots firmly in the old country, but with just enough substance to hold the toppings, unlike most American "artisan" or "authentic" style crusts. The toppings are high quality and unique in flavor as well. The meatless ravioli are off the charts, I think they come with the Rosy sauce . Freindly staff and cool, low-key atmosphere contribute to a satisfying dining experience!

OK, I didn't want to give a bad review because apparently this place is like an Omaha institution. We were psyched to try it and we stayed positive right up until the pizza came. But we just didn't like it. The toppings were bland, the cheese was sparse, and I guess the sort of cracker-y crust is just not my style. I'm sorry Omaha. I realize this place has history, but it doesn't have very good pizza...

In my head I knew it was a bad idea. I've been to La Casa before and while my memories of it are generally fond I'm pretty sure that's due to the alcohol and the company. But once in a while I get a craving for a cheese pizza. Just a simple cheese pizza. Even though I KNEW it was a bad idea, I thought eh, let's go to La Casa. I mean, it's a cheese pizza. How poorly can it go? I think the churning in my stomach is answering that. Neapolitan my ass. Give me that tasty, chewy crust and some cheese that doesn't make me want to puke. Their crust isn't tasty and crispy. It's a greasy mess. This is pizza that sits in the bottom of your stomach and stays because even your stomach acids don't want to deal with it. All in all, it's a grandparent restaurant. Smooth jazz (blech!), horrible paint, plastic table coverings and dim lighting at lunch. The wait staff was friendly and not overbearing or inattentive but that's as far as the compliments go. Gordon Ramsey to the rescue...please? Give me Dante's, Pitch, Zio's, or Orsi's any day. Hell, I can make a more authentically Neapolitan pizza than that. With so much tasty pizza in Omaha, why waste my time at La Casa?

I'm a crust-hater. I never eat pizza crust unless it is smothered in marinara, with that said; this was the best pizza crust I've ever had. The dinner salad sucked so they lost a star.

Still and always the best pizza in Omaha, not to mention the pasta and onion rings are great as well. Funny people criticize a place for being busy and not much parking. That's usually a good sign that the food they are serving is worth the wait. If you want to go someplace where you don't have to wait and there is plenty of parking try Pizza Hut or some other generic chain.

I think this place is....okay. People here seem to love it, and i do appreciate the fact that it is an Omaha tradition. I have had pretty good pizza here but the last few times it was really really burnt. To the point that the bottom crust was black and tasted really burnt. We've had another stuff here--husband has had something called the "meat roll" which really makes me want to vomit. Not the top of my list for pizza!

Appalling from the service to the food, quality a -3. been there a few times over the years thought maybe I caugth them on an off day. OK so we tried them again. While we waited for our (senior) waiter who was more concerned with counting his money bag (tips???) right in front of our table. Ok so after coutning his money he FINALLY came over and took our order. I should mention They weren't real busy at 7:30 PM. Took awhile to get the wife's glass of wine as well as our water. We ordered two salads and a large pizza with various toppings expecting to take some home. The only higlight of the evening was the crust. it was good the rest of the experience (salads included) was sub par. 35.00 for 2 salads a Small ( but large by their standards) Pizza and a glass of wine. Sorry STRIKE 3 your OUT!!!! Should've gone to the grocery store bought a Jacks (UGHH) pizza and a bag of salad for less than 10.00

Sorry to say, but I was sadly dissapointed in this after hearing people rave about it. I'm from Southeastern WI, which, surprizingly, blows most pizza places out of the water, so maybe my review is a bit skewed. I like a nice thin crust, but here, it wasn't that good. The sauce was a bit bland and the toppings were scarce. Thought it may have been a one time fluke, but I've tried it on several occassions now and have gotten the same results.

  • Andrew M.

With Pizzeria in the name of your restaurant you would expect something great...the pizza is average at best and you get very little bang for your buck. The creamy romano salad dressing is the best thing here, I have been many times because my wife loves it and I have noticed that the service is always pretty slow. Don't know what people love about this pizza, I think it is bland, non-filling and usually gets soggy pretty fast (they also bring it to you on a plastic serving tray that looks like something you use in a cafeteria) it is definitely not for everyone.

  • Therese H.

Best pizza ever. A suggestion to take the tomato and cheese romano from spectacular to out of this world is to top it with a little of their meat sauce. It makes it both salty and a tiny bit sweet. There is no food better in the whole world.

I use to live close to La Casa and always enjoyed going to this pizza joint. I ended up taking visiting friends and family here for a low-key simple and good dinner. The service was fast, fun, efficient, and they were rather hospitable. This is fine and all, but without good food, who cares? Well, they do indeed make a pretty good pizza. I have tried numerous combinations and have enjoyed them. I appreciate that they can accommodate requests (such as no sauce/tomatoes on half of a pizza for my Mom) without any hesitation or issues. I like the casual atmosphere, which can be loud at times. The parking can be slightly challenging and require a few laps but it is not enough of an issue to worry about, just good to know. We never did reservations and the lines were rarely long, usually 10-15 minutes. I've enjoyed coming here, recall the fond memories, and do occasionally miss not having my La Casa nearby.

Pizza is very different but i like it. Not for everyone. Thin crust, funky sauce but i think it is good. Not terribly filling so order a lot. Great the next day as a left over.

  • STACY M.

If you like Pizza Hut, Dominos, Papa John's, etc.. THIS IS NOT YOUR PLACE! But if you like a super thin crust pizza with Romano instead of mozzerella (its Neopolitan style), then this place ROCKS THE HIZZY! My foodie friends here in Denver always ask if my brother will ship up some! There's not a lot of good things to say about Omaha, but La Casa's and Warren Buffet are two great things to come out of there.

    (5)
  • Anndrea H.

Not recommended. Everything was great, except the pizza :(. It was a thin crust and it had a great crunch but it tasted like a pizza I could have made at home. There really wasn't anything special about it and the large cost us $19. Which would be fine if it was worth it. We won't be going back unfortunately.

  • Mike S.

La Casa is one of my very favorites in Omaha. I worked there when I was younger and still go back. that says a lot. the crust on the pizzas a neopolitan style which means it is very thin. kind of floppy if you had a standard wedge shaped slice, but it is cut in rectangles. Almost everything is made from scratch and you can tell it with the taste. The most popular pizza is the Hamburger, black olive with both cheeses. Mozzarella and Romano. They like romano here and make the best salad dressing with it to boot. the onion rings are hand cut (that job sucks, BTW) and lightly breaded. The lasagna is much different than others places that offer similar items and I love the canneloni as well. There is a reason these folks have been around since 1946 and that is service and quality. While the style of pies they have may not be for all, they are unique to Omaha and are worth the wait. Pro Tip: Call ahead and show up in 15 minutes. Your pizza should be ready then

I've always been meaning to try La Case -- you've got to with a reputation this good for pizza. Best in Omaha? I'm going to have to say...no. Good pizza? Sure. It's fine. Nothing great but nothing bad, either. We ordered a mushroom and artichoke heart pizza and I'm usually reluctant to get these toppings because they can throw off a lot of water during the cooking process and keep the dough and the cheese and the sauce from marrying together nicely. Sure enough, the ingredients put off a lot of water, especially if you put uncooked, fresh mushrooms on top. At home, I like to sauté my mushroom, cook 'em up just beyond when they release the water so I don't have to drink my pizza. So the pizza was a bit soggy and the cheese just slid right off the top when you grabbed a slice. BUT...the crust was really good. Usually I don't bother eating the crust, but this crust was perfectly browned and buttery. Really good. Cheesy garlic bread? Again, good. Fine. Fresh cheese and Rotella's bread. I had a rough day so I splurged on a beer. Blue Moon draft. It was warm. I didn't send it back. I'm just not a "send it back if you're unhappy" person. I drank it regardless but would have loved it to be ice cold. So, overall, just a-ok. Glad I experienced it, but I won't be hurrying back.

We recently moved to the area and the sign out front stating Food Network gave it "Best Pizza in Omaha" drew us in. The servers were very pleasant and professional. The atmosphere was fairly lively with plenty of people (multiple large groups))...though it was very clean it's pretty dated inside and out. We had a salad and pizza. The salad was good with fresh mozzarella and homemade dressing (on the side!). The pizza just wasn't good though. We got a build your own and the best thing I can offer is the crust was good (though my husband even disagrees with that). It was nearly flavorless and I'll admit to being somewhat put off by being charged (another $1 for 2oz...yes they're specific) when I asked for any cheese to shake on top. I want to like it more...but If this is the best Omaha has to offer...I think I might go to Council Bluffs.

Two strikes and you're out; what was supposed to take 30 minutes to have a pizza and an order of raviolis ready, took nearly one hour. Considering that we places the carryout order by phone about 45 min before the 30 min wait. You do the math . This is the second time we have been to this restaurant and the service has been extremely slow and disappointing. I am not sure if they are managed by the same person or not, but I have never had these issues at the Grover Street location, which is an extremely busy site. My advice to anyone craving a slice of pizza is this; go down the street to the QT gas station and grab a slice of pizza.. As they say in Italian "Ciao, Ciao, LaCasa"

I just realized I have never written a review on La Casa Pizza! Unbelievable! I've been eating pizza from this joint on Leavenworth Street for years. I mean I grew up on this stuff! The pizza is the best there is...locally owned and NOT a franchise! I don't normally like fried food and typically steer clear of appetizers so it doesn't ruin my meal, but I do like to get their ravioli's for an appetizer. Not sure how they make these different than other restaurants, but they have good flavor and you don't just taste the "grease" they are fried in. The marinara they are served with is perfectly delish. The Neapolitan style crust is unique at La Casa. My favorite pizza is the four cheese Quattro Formaggio pizza. Their sauce is not sweet, but rather savory/zesty which I like in a pizza sauce. You really can't go wrong with any of their pizzas. I always order mine with both cheeses...Romano and mozzarella. Their hamburger pizza is made with hamburger that appears to be cooked slowly so that the hamburger is in little pieces as opposed to big chunks. I think it really brings out the flavor of the quality hamburger cooking it this way and makes it super tender. Their lasagna is fantastic as well. It's made with both Romano and mozzarella cheeses and baked to perfection. Hungry for spaghetti? Their pasta dishes are great too! I love the spaghetti with the Spicy Rosa sauce. It's a blend of Valorosa tomatoes and heavy cream with fresh garlic, romano cheese, Italian herbs, and cayenne pepper for a little heat. This place can get super busy in the evenings and they do not take reservations. Expect a bit of a wait, but you can head into the bar for a drink to pass the time. Although the pizza is great for take-out (I do that often) it's even better eating it there without it hitting a cardboard box. It's served on a plastic cafeteria tray bubbling hot, and after your first bite you will agree that it was well worth the wait for a table! Although there are two La Casa locations in Omaha, this one on Leavenworth Street is the original and for whatever reason their pizza greatly outshines the other location...any La Casa Pizza connoisseur would agree! So....if you haven't been there...quit reading this and head to La Casa on Leavenworth Street!

I'm surprised that La Casa doesn't have a 5-star rating, but then I remember that pizza is such a divisive topic. As someone who hates deep dish, I can't get enough of La Casa's thin crust. They also use Romano instead of Mozzarella, I think. The tomato sauce is fresh, i.e., not pureed and salted beyond recognition. I like all of these things, but I understand that others don't, so... do your research before going... and yes, be prepared for not-the-best service.

Cash only, no ATM. The lady who took our order was not excited to be at work that day. No greeting, no interaction. Kinda strange. I thought everything was good. My boyfriend wasn't impressed. Maybe because we went out of our way? We got the hamburger and the quattro formaggio pizzas and the cheese bread. It was a lot of food. Had plenty for breakfast the next day.

Omaha's best Pizza? While visiting Omaha and Council Bluffs the kids wife and friends decided to stop in to La Casa Pizzaria. The online reviews and the fact the place was labeled Omaha's best pizza sounded promising. The outside looked a bit run down but I never judge a place too much on looks. Upon entering we found the place to be emaculate. Everything was clean and gorgeous' not what we thought a little pizzeria would look like. They moved some tables together to fit our group and we're extremely accomodating. Our orders were taken with special attention. Everything was going wonderful. Then the food arrived. I am no pizza expert but I have grown a taste for awsome pizza and I figured "Omaha's Best Pizza" should be close. Alas, it barely came close to edible. We were all very hungry and that may have made us able to finish, or I take too seriously the motto "even bad pizza is good pizza". Firstly both me and my wife ordered the special pizza and salad or pizza, pasta and salad. The salads we got had way too much Italian dressing on them, it tasted like strait vinnegar. My pasta was mediocre and the spicy sauce it came with was barely spicy. Now the pizza. Because we ordered specials we had to pick from four different topped pizzas. What sounded like a good slice turned out to be a dryed out bland bar type pizza. The crust was soggy and over cooked at the same time which led me to believe it sat under a heat lamp or they microwaved it before serving. The top was also dry and the toppings overcooked, again probably heat lamp for hours. I can see food like this at a cheap little hole in the wall dive bar but not some place claiming to have the best pizza in Omaha. Either my standards are way too high or I'm spoiled on the Des Moines scene pizza.

10 Stars - classic Omaha in every way. Pizza is amazing-service is very good. Really busy on a Wednesday night when we were there and staff was still very friendly- a most go to pizza place!!!

Always the best pizza in the country. Not cheap and not always the best service but always the best pizza. Both locations are great but do believe the 84th street location is just a tad better. Try it an Omaha tradition for over 50 years.

La Casa is fun. It is a Omaha favorite, and Leavenworth in general is very fun slice of America in general, and the old school place makes the stretch a must visit if you are a fan of places like this. You will want to take pictures of the old time sign and a few other places here. Vibe is strictly working class roadside bar and pizza joint. Just in a part of the city that is about to bounce back. ( Buy real estate now.) After being greeted by the signed photo of Alex Trebek, among other things, you get a very old, clean but showing its age, pizza restaurant. One side bar, other table. The bar side is a hoot as the building codes weren't too strictly enforced - there is a general slant off of level to the place. The service is very old school neighborhood friendly. The pizza is ok. Not too spicy, certainly not flavored with herbs or garlic to a great degree, thin cracker crust, decent toppings. Square and checker cut, a bit soggy in the middle. Think what is referred to as East Coast Italian pizza, and you won't be too excited. For mid America, its ok, and you hit this place as much for the atmosphere anyway.

Living in north Omaha, I don't get many chances to get LaCasa's so when my son said he wanted pizza when we were coming home from South Omaha, I jumped at the chance. My son and I split a large classic hamburger pizza and couldn't quite finish it. The romano cheese gives it a little tang which I kinda like. Nice crispy crust. Wife had some sort of salad. Busboy had a super cool Black and blue bowling shirt with a dragon and sportcar on it. Couldn't take my eyes off it. My wife said I could forget ever owning a shirt like that. Dang it. I'm definitely going to come back. While I might be a little disappointed if the dude isn't wearing his shirt, I'm sure the pizza will leave me satisfied.

This one is going to be short and sweet, so sue me, Yelp. They can't even spell "pizzeria". Need I really say more than that? If so, have a look at the photos of their "food" for a thousand words.

One of the best pizza's I have ever had. Not only that but as soon as my Dad get's off the plane when he visit's the first thing we do is go to La Casa, the food is so damn good, always always delicious and consistent. It has been this way for years and years, this was a place we went growing up and it is just as good now as it was then! Brings back great memories! Thanks La Casa

Sixty one years old that's an Omaha staple for sure. La casa has a great pizza that is baked then grilled giving it that extra crunch. I ordered a half pepperoni half cheese pizza that did not disappoint. The entire staff was eager to take my order and very helpful. I watched the busy staff contruct my pizza from the take out window. I turned out pretty fantastic.

Hands-down the best pizza I have ever had. I've never seen a pizza built the way that Lacosta makes their's. Although they would be better served to take my advice and add diced tomatoes on top of their 4 cheese pizza I really can't find anything to complain about. Hello I used to get a dozen and a half big pizzas and take them out with me when I lived in California. That's how good they are

Growing up in Omaha, you would think I would have tried this place before now but nope, never saw the need. I also have no issues spending extra money on quality pizza. My hubby and I love lots of Omaha staples. Zios, Pudgy's, Mama's and Johnny Sortinos are all great choices. You would think I would like this place but honestly no, it wasn't that special. One, for the price I paid for two large pizzas, I could have easily gone to Zios and gotten twice the amount of pizza and at a much higher quality. The hamburger was well seasoned like everyone says but their sauce is so bland and our pizza was rather soggy that it didn't matter how good the hamburger tasted. I heard La Casa had the best hamburger pizza in Omaha but alas it was just meh. If I want a good hamburger pizza I would go to Pudgy's, where their hamburger pizza is superb. I really wanted to like this place and I can see that maybe at one time they could have put more care in their pizza but I just did not get the quality everyone else is raving about. Oh wells.

La Casa thin-crust pizza has a very distinctive, crave-worthy taste very different than its generic competitors. I find myself needing to buy some every few months or so. I always get carry-out so I can't comment on the service except for the people at the register who are always friendly. My only tips are that you make sure you bring cash - they don't accept cards (ancient, I know) and note that they are closed on Mondays.

Best pizza in town??? Nah.... People need to get out more and try other things because it wasn't the best pizza. I asked a server to recommend me the featured pizza so I got the classic hamburger pizza. And I love mushroom so I added the topping. Also I put both cheese mozzarella and Romano cheese. Ordered toasted ravioli and onion rings. My order was for take out. Packaging was good for pizza and onion rings but ravioli box was too big for 5 pieces and it banged around in the box. Well it was not soft kind since it was toasted so there were no damages on the food but wished hey packed the small order in the small box. Now to pizza, opened the box and we saw burnt crust with overlooked mushroom and hamburger. Couldn't even see the cheese so I guess not showing cheese on the pizza is their thing... Got that but taste was salty and it wasn't the wow worthy. Onion rings were bad shape as well since all onion was made out of outer layer so they were thin and long and very chewy (let's say nicely very much fiber) anyway, I don't think I will go back to try this Omaha best pizza. I felt like I wasted my $34 on this order. Oh well now I know. Right?

Great old school pizza and Italian restaurant. The service was top notch, our waitress went the extra mile to entertain my two little girls. The hamburger pizza which they are famous for was good and my wife's chicken artichoke pizza was great. We will be back next fall when we return to Omaha.

I really, really did not like this. They seem to pride themselves on using Romano cheese in addition to traditional mozzarella. I realize it's an option and you can get mozzarella only, but they almost recommended getting it with Romano saying it was their customers' preference. I'm sure it's a personal preference but I thought it was near terrible. The crust seemed crispy at first, but turned soggy fairly quickly. I really like pizza, just not this one. The value also just was not there. Our large pizza (the largest they offer) was only the size of maybe a medium at most other places and cost $20 with two toppings. I will not be back.

Good flavor. Sauce and cheese are yummy. Only thing I didn't like which is difficult to avoid in any cheesy pizza is it was greasy. Well, I lied-- that isn't the only thing I didn't like... I didn't like how small the pizza was... and it was a LARGE pizza... it as what I'd expect for a medium size pizza. But all in all, I'd go back.

Excellent pizza! I love the style, especially this time if year. The bar is good too. Believe it or not, you can go to the bar and get some great beer on tap. Almost the entire Tap selection is Emperyan Brewing and the selection is great. La Casa is and always has been local and they kept the beer selection local too. The service is great and friendly, especially at the bar if you're waiting for a pizza to go. La Casa is an Omaha institution!

I am not sure why this place is still in business. I order two large pizzas to be picked up because my brother in. Law is in town and loves this pizza for some reason. I have not had a bite yet but am dreading it. As they cut and boxes the pizza or looked burned and the person cutting the pizza kept picking something off the top and throwing it in the garbage. What was on the pizza when it was cooked that they do not want to serve? I definitely would not eat here again. I would probably order Simon is before eating here again

  • Lauren G.

Ugh my family ALWAYS wants to get take out from here. I mean come on guys. The reason why I'm simply not too much of a fan is the cheese. It just isn't good ol mozzerella like I know and loved. What is it? Aged cheese? Idk.... Crust isn't nothing to RAVE about either. Okay mom I'll just eat salad. Hey they can do that well. The three stars go for my mom dad and brother but you aren't earning my love... Oh I do like how it's squared shaped.. Nice!!!

I absolutely loved the hamburger pizza! Also, the service was excellent (e.g., my bike did not have a lock and the manager let me keep it down in the basement; also, I wanted to try their home-made dressing but I love blue cheese - waiter's suggested to add blue cheese crumbles on the side - the salad was humble but the dressing and crumbles hit the spot. Try the original hamburger pizza that started it all. The crust was thin and perfect - the flavor was awesome.

La Casa has been exemplary for the 25+ Years that my family has been going there. After a 10+ year absence since moving away, coming back to the same outstanding quality is now definitely something to look forward too on every trip back!

Stopped in here for lunch this afternoon. Friendly staff, logical mid town location. Upon entering, the layout and decor were pleasant. I ordered the a 'slice special' of the day, two slices of pepperoni with a salad. Plus onion rings and a drink, the outcome was about $10. Not bad for lunch at all! The quality I the food was acceptable, rich in flavor and fresh out I the oven. I found the portions to be a little small, but the quality made up for the quantity. Overall a good experience! I very might well be back soon. Tip: if your server doesn't tell you already, ask about daily specials. See what they're offering. Also parking limited, so try to avoid the lunch rush. It got a little crowded around 1145am.

La casa was pretty tasty tonight. Its pretty rare these days that the service out shines the food. gina was our waitress. She was prompt, friendly, and checked on us multiple times through out dinner. Its always a nice suprise and very welcomed when a person takes the time to box up your leftovers instead of throwing a couple of boxes at you. Thanks Gina for taking pride in everything you do.

Really? Yeah... they bake and then GRILL the crust to finish it! Good idea? Yes! First off, the worst thing in pizzadom is flaccid crust. That is worse than... never mind. ; ) The crust on these pies is snap crispy even after you transport the pizza to you grazing pasture. Speaking of pasture, the hamburger laden pizza was bang-on delicious. The Chicken artichoke I had was also very tasty... although it has enough sauce to get just a little soggy in the center. These dream squares are not cheap... about $20 a pop. But you need them. You really do.

Food: Ordered two large hamburger pizzas with salads. The crust was cracker-like and delicious, but the topping was bland and puréed. It was like they took some sauce and cooked hamburger, threw it into a blender for a minute, poured it onto an already cooked crust, and browned it for a few minutes...am I right? No cheese, but my piece came with a big black hair on it...bonus! Salad was old, wilted iceberg lettuce with a single ring of red onion and two small olives...and what's the big deal about the dressing? Some bottled Italian with shake cheese floating in it. Service: Carry out...game day, so they were busy, but the guy helping us was really nice. Price: Two large (1 foot by 1 1/2, rectangular), and four side salads set us back $54. Overall I would recommend heading down Saddle Creek street to Mama's.

My parents hate La Casa pizza. My parents also don't eat food with seasoning, flavor, spice, kick, or awesomeness. This being said, even though they've been cursed with a lack of taste buds or sense of food adventure, they set aside their boring preferences and join with me every year for my birthday La Casa pizza tradition. Introduced to me in high school by an ex-boyfriend's family tradition of their own (yeah, yeah I know, get my own tradition), I immediately fell in love with the thin crispy Neapolitan style pizza with zesty Romano cheese and homemade sauce. My favorite is the crumbly ground beef with green olives for that extra bam of flavor. I'm not going to lie, I'd eat a La Casa pizza if you topped it with bits of shoe. Well, at least I'd try it. What I like best about La Casa pizza is that upon finishing an entire square tray of pizza myself, it doesn't make me feel like I should be rolled out of the restaurant in some kind of wheeled apparatus. I feel good. And not ashamed. Be advised that they're closed all day Mondays and on Sunday afternoons so if you're looking for a hangover fixing, just sleep until about 4pm that Sunday. Oh and I see that they now offer to ship frozen pizzas "coast to coast." You go ahead and take over the world La Casa!

Well the pizza was decent and the building looks pretty cool on the outside. I got a slice of one of their daily specialties, some kind of sliced sausage with a ton of black olives and a couple green peppers. It was burnt but still tasted good (some things I actually prefer slightly burnt, such as crackers and roasted peanuts), and featured a very crispy thin crust which I enjoyed. The "meat sauce" they served with my mushy spaghetti was insulting. It tasted like aluminum alloy tomato paste (not the good stuff, the store brand). The softish cheese that was served on the side appeared to be milled through a potato ricer. Is it provel? I know what it's not: parmesan or romano. My waitress was very nice and attentive. However, the lady that greeted me when I first walked in didn't really greet me, and the weird dude with glasses who took my drink order ran away puzzled when I asked for a domestic beer. I had some lavendar stained glass to look at while I waited. Not the best first impression. Next time I will just order a pizza for carryout.

The Holy Grail! I have eaten pizza all over, but this is the finest! If I could choose my last meal on Earth, it would be here. Favorites are classic hamburger pizza with both cheeses, or broccoli lasagna. The best of the best, awesome old school ambiance. This ain't some wood fired thing made with local, free range critters. Just the coolest, most flavorful thin crust pizza available.

Your temptingly greasy pizza with its extraordinarily high grease:bread:cheese:topping ratio gave me the runs like nothing has ever done before. I suppose if I were prepping for a colonoscopy I might come back. But until that time you can keep your awesome logo and I'll keep my gastrointestinal health.

A favorite with my mother in law and a good friend of mine who considered himself a foodie. I liked it alright, I lived in the neighborhood to the south for 5 years and only went a couple time. The pizza is very unique, crispy crust, and toppings that were far more meaty and saucy the cheesy, nothing like I have had before, based on that I would suggest people try it. For me I thought it was very expensive for what you got.

Eating in was good, though parking was dicey. We had pizza. We're recent transplants from the East so eating pizza in squares seems odd and somehow affects the taste. However, overall, the crust was closer to NY style, which we prefer, and the toppings and seasonings were good. For the next experience we did carry out. We decided that in the future we should eat at the restaurant, which is almost always best for pizza. We noticed other menu items being served when we ate in, and some looked and smelled delicious. Our waitress was truly outstanding. She was so friendly and attentive without being overly so. It was crowded but we didn't have to wait and the atmosphere was a nice old-fashioned Italian one. Overall, looking forward to going back.

I need to know why people in Omaha Like this Place? The Pizza is overpriced, the beef topping is shredded and not flavorful, and the crust, although thicker then thin crust is hard? The Staff, well, they are friendly enough, but don't complain because no resolution happens. When I said my crust was hard, they remade the ENTIRE pizza. It took 20 minutes, came out hard again. So, I guess for me, this is a NO GO place, but I do thank the staff for correcting the issue (or at least trying to.)

Came here with the family and enjoyed my experience. The service from Angie was great. We had plenty of food also. I don't think the food was outstanding by any means, but Mom and Dad love it, so this was the place. Would give 2.5 but that's not an option, so I went with the 2.

My wife loves this place and the location on 84th and Grover. The Pizza is good, it is not like anything I had ever eaten before but was good. The romano cheese kind of gives it a different flavor, we only ever get the hamburger. We try to order one at least once every couple months, it has been fewer recently since we moved to Bellevue. Word of advice, the 84th street location does not take debit or credit cards. Cash and check only.

I am sorry - I know alot of people in Omaha think this place is just the greatest thing ever but to me it tastes like cardboard with low grade toppings. Never have liked it - never will. I'll agree that some of their other items aren't as bad - the ravioli and the little bambino sandwich to name a few. But for a place famous for pizza it's just not that good. There are many better options in Omaha.

I've driven by La Casa dozens of times and wondered what kind of pizza that crazy neon Italian guitarist serves up. Tonight, I decided to find out. I wish I hadn't. I'm feeling lazy and La Casa did little to inspire me, so this will be another boring, category review. Service: After walking in the door, we stood a foot away from two hosts for a few moments while neither could be bothered to stop what they were doing for long enough to even say "Hi, we'll be with you in a moment." Does that sound overly picky to you? Well who the hell do you think you are? This is my review. Read it or beat it. Once seated, our server was friendly and prompt enough. Drinks: Don't know, didn't try any. "Why are you including it in your review, then" you might ask. "Why is your face so stupid," I would respond. Appetizers: Oh deary me. The combo/sampler ran us over $11. Each and every dollar they charged was an insult. The toasted (deep fried) ravioli was bland, the fried mozzarella was bland, the onion rings were slightly sweet (but mostly bland) and the sauces were bland. Eating food this bad, this expensive makes me consider bulimia. Obviously, I'm exaggerating here. The mozzarella and ravioli were good enough to eat, though they were disappointing and I really didn't touch the onion rings after trying the first bite. The Pizza: Not bad. Thin, flaky, pastry crust that I could definitely eat a lot more of was covered with a bit too much sauce and a bit too little cheese. Still, I'd eat it again, if it were served to me. I think 14 bucks for the medium pizza that we ordered was a bit steep, since it didn't fill the two of us. Then again, the crust is pretty good and there are certainly MORE expensive pizzas out there... The Desserts: The cannoli was alright, and the cheesecake was probably the closest anything came to tasting like it was worth the price we paid for it. The Verdict: "Meh. I've experienced better." I probably won't be back on my own, but if someone suggested it I wouldn't throw a fit.

My family has been going to La Casa for years now. I love their rectangular, thin crust pizzas. I usually go with a simple one topping pizza, but whatever you choose to get on your pie I recommend asking for both romano and mozzarella cheese (they only put both on by request otherwise I believe it's just romano). The side salad is pretty plain with a couple black olives and onions... but the creamy romano dressing is awesome. Whether you get pizza, pasta, or whatnot the fried raviolis are a must for appetizers (get the full order, it's worth it)! I usually just get take out, since I live in the neighborhood. It makes for a nice easy family dinner. If you dine in, the decor is a little outdated and currently the parking lot is under some construction.

Original review with photos can be found here: omahapizzareview.com/201… La Casa Pizzaria (yes, pizzaria) has been serving up their unique Neapolitan pizza in Midtown Omaha since the early 1950's. The original Leavenworth location is considered an Omaha institution, but for those who'd like to stay out west they also have a location near 84th and I-80. We wanted to get the full La Casa experience, so we opted to make the longer drive and visit their original location. It was just before 6pm on a Sunday, and the place was already packed. We were looking at a good 30 minute wait, so we decided to kick it in the bar with a Blue Moon and a Stella. If you're in more of a rush, you can order and eat right in the bar or get your order to go and enjoy it at home - or in your car if you just can't wait that long. Exactly 30 minutes later our name was called and we were taken to a table in the main dining area. It's a good sized restaurant, a little dark and certainly dated, with local artwork and photos on the walls. I doubt much has changed over the years, but if it ain't broke... Having studied the large menu in the bar over our beverages, we already already knew what we wanted by the time our waitress arrived. We decided on the toasted ravioli, salads, a veggie pizza, and a Carne Classico. After a wait that was probably shorter than it seemed (we were hungry!), our half order of ravioli arrived with side of meat sauce for dipping along with a basket of fresh bread, which was an unexpected surprise. The ravioli is stuffed with beef, hand breaded and deep fried to golden perfection. They were crispy and flavorful. I was especially impressed with the meat sauce which was dark, rich, very flavorful, and absolutely delicious. I personally made sure none of the marinara made its way back to the kitchen. My dinner salad had a tasty creamy Romano dressing and The Pizza Wife's spinach salad came with a under seasoned tomato vinaigrette dressing. Next came the stars of the show - the pizzas! La Casa produces a very unique crust not matched by anyone else in Omaha. It's very thin, buttery, flaky with a charred and crispy bottom and edge. I prefer a slightly thicker and chewier crust, but I was really impressed with the taste and texture of theirs. The sauce is a very simple sauce, perhaps being nothing more than just pureed tomatoes. There wasn't any hint of herbs or other ingredients in it. Another unique feature at La Casa is that you can choose to have Ramano or mozzarella cheese (or a mix of the two) as your topping. We stuck with mozzarella for both pies. Another thing we noted was the small pizzas are round in shape while the medium and large pies are rectangular. The veggie pizza comes with diced tomatoes, mushrooms (which seemed to be fresh), black olives, onions and green peppers (no substitutions!). The Pizza Wife found it tasty but she isn't a fan of the flaky crust. Like me, she prefers the foundation of a pie to be slightly thicker and chewier. Also, La Casa is one of the many places that load their veggie pizzas with black olives. A few are fine, but The Pizza Wife would prefer more of the fresh vegetables. The sweet tang of diced tomatoes was a welcome surprise. The Carne Classico features spicy Italian sausage, pepperoni, prosciutto, green peppers and onions. Again, no substitutions please. I normally don't stray much from the standard pepperoni pizza, but the Carne Classico pizza just sounded so good on the menu. And it was. This was one of the best tasting pizzas I've had in some time. The sausage was spicy, tasty and was certainly the star of the show, while the rest of the toppings blended together nicely making this an instant classic. Overall we really enjoyed our visit to La Casa. I think I enjoyed the experience a little bit more than The Pizza Wife. This was one of the best tasting pies I had in a while. We found the prices of the pizzas to be on the higher side when compared to other places we've visited however. The good: pretty much everything, great spicy sausage, tasty and crispy crust, fresh veggies The bad: more expensive than most other pizza places, busy Oven: stone oven (just a guess as I couldn't peek in to the kitchen) Crust: thin, flaky, crispy and charred Sauce: simple and sweet Cheese: your choice of Romano or mozzarella Review by The Omaha Pizza Review Crew OmahaPizzaReview.com Facebook.com/PizzaReview… Twitter.com/PizzaReviewer

Great family owned pizza restaurant around since the 1950s. Square pizzas with fresh toppings and your choice of having both mozzarella and romano cheese. The spinach side salad was decent and the dressings are all homemade. The beef ravioli as an appetizer was great. Solid beer and wine menu too.

I was quite disappointed. In general, I like to support local businesses, and I've driven by it 100 times, but had never been. People told me it was pretty good. Recently, as a part of a group function, I finally got there. The group had ordered the pizza bar. I paid $15+ (including incorporated tip) for what was no better than those Totino's microwave pizzas and a generic salad (nothing special there, either). I ate 3 small slices and htat was MORE than enough. The crust tasted like cardboard, the hamburger on the "classic hamburger" was dry, the mushroom/other pizza was almost *chewy* (and not in a good way). There was little cheese, and less (real) flavor. The service was fair. Not spectacular, but not terrible. It definitely didn't make up for the bad pizza. Avoid.

For a thin-crust hamburger pizza this place is quite possibly the best ever. If you're in the mood for that type of thing, which fortunately I am quite often, then you will not be disappointed. This is the pizza that put them on the map, and when you have it you can see why. I think the people who come here and don't like it either A) do not like hamburger on pizza or B) do not order it. Quite fond of the garlic bread but it is rare that I am feeling like enough of a fatty to order it. The quattro formaggio pizza's also recommended. For other toppings I am not as much of a fan (probably 3 stars because they still put together a great pizza if expensive). My family has been coming here for as long as I've been alive for good reason. It is a bit on the expensive side for pizza especially with multiple toppings, but you get what you pay for. You can't go wrong when there's no crust to soak up fat and load your pizza with extraneous calories like every national chain.

I dream about this pizza and I haven't live in Omaha since 1988. This the first place that I go whever I go home. Crisp Crust, odd Romano Cheese combo that doesn't sound like you would love it, but it's amazing. Best Pizza in Omaha. Great sort of crappy, but awesome coctail bar at the downtown location. LOVE THIS PLACE!!!

Some of the reason I love this place so much is the nostalgia, so take that in stride. But every time I see that stocky mustached Italian mascot strumming his guitar in the neon lights, I smile on the inside. I love La Casa's toasted ravioli, which I'm pretty sure is the best in town. Their house dressing, creamy Romano, is also to die for. And, finally their pizza... Oh, so delicious and unique. Rectangular, thin crust, with tangy sauce and multiple unique combinations, although the pepperoni is still my favorite. Whenever I have it, I love it, but this isn't a restaurant I recommend to people. If you're not already a fan, it seems like a hard sell.

I love this place. BF just tried it the other night on our "date" and he agreed. I love that the pizza is thin, and I love the crispy crust. To be honest I haven't ever eaten anything but the pizza and the canoli, and both are great. The 4 cheese pizza is my favorite, but we tried the artichoke heart and mushroom and that was fresh and yummy too. It is not typical pizza and I love that.

So done with this place and their never-ending ineptitude. I'm too angry right now to write a full review, so I may come back at a later date and add to this one. For right now, all I can say if you're making a carry out order: a "45 minute" wait is meaningless to them. Not a single time in the last 2 years have I put in a carry out order and not had to wait at LEAST an hour. Tonight was a cascading waterfall of endless f#$k ups that resulted in a 2 hour time frame from my order to walking out the door. At one point, I was given the wrong food and realized as I'd walked to my car that they'd screwed this up. I watched them leave other food behind on other peoples' orders, as well. The manager was a spineless jellyfish who refused to even acknowledge our existence during the endless wait for our pizzas. By the time they'd made their 12th mistake and came to the counter to tell us they'd made one of the pizzas wrong, I felt like snapping. Did this manager, who stood right there during a good chunk of this debacle, offer to comp us the pizza SINCE THEY'D MADE IT INCORRECTLY? Nope. We were given a $3 off coupon for our next visit. I've been eating at La Casa's for over 20 years, and tonight they finally killed what inkling of remaining loyalty I'd ever had for the place. Dead to me. Your pizza is overrated, by the way. Great, you have pastry crust. Your toppings suck, your sauce is unmemorable, and you put about $1.00 worth of ingredients on your pizzas. $40 for two pizzas, a 2 hour wait, and spending the majority of my Father's Day dinner standing in a 100 degree waiting room instead of home with my f#$king family? To hell with this place.

Pros: Pizza+beer+onion rings=a good way to kick off the weekend Cons: After traveling around for a bit, this isn't as good as I thought it was, the parking is a nightmare I went to La Casa's many times with my family growing up and only have good memories. The unique pizza, the down-home atmosphere, it all was comfortable and nice. The pizza is still good, especially the beef one. The other pasta dishes are rather tasty, such as the lasagna. The atmosphere is still the same. However, it doesn't knock me over like it once did. It's still good, but it isn't this masterpiece that I thought it once was. It's fun to go there now with friends when I'm in town, get a pizza, some onion rings and wash them down with beers. For pizza in the city of Omaha, there really isn't anywhere better than La Casa's. Oh, and have fun finding a parking spot...

I generally eat "local" pizza whenever I travel. Still haven't found any better than La Casa. The crust is perfectly crisp. Also love the lasagna. I bring everyone from out of town here and they always love it.

We got pizza to go recently. The Romano anchovy pizza is unique and has distinctive flavor. Good for a taste or two, but I went for the hamburger pizza, too. Good ground beef & onions, but more like meatloaf than pizza. The rustica seemed to mask the mushrooms, peppers & tomato with overly baked ricotta. That last one cost them a star. Sorry, I'm a Chicago pizza snob.

I have mixed feelings about this place.....obviously the pizza is great but as far as anything else on the menu it's pretty blah for how expensive it is. I come here more often than I would like as it's my boyfriend's favorite place to eat in Omaha (he loves the pizza too) so every time I go I try something different with high hopes. Unfortunately, I am disappointed every time. When I tried the fettuccine with garlic cream sauce and chicken, my chicken came with bones in it and was way over-sauced. I tried the sausage and peppers calzoni and found it to be greasy and under-sauced. Whatever you do, don't order the Little Bambino sandwich.....it's DISGUSTING. Dry chunks of odd tasting beef with a tablespoon of sugar marinara sauce on a soggy bun. The service can also be a problem. The first time I had ever visited La Casa, the first thing the server said to our table was, "What do you want." Really? Since then, the service has been at least better than that but expect to wait a while for refills and your food whether the place is busy or not. Also, if you have a problem with the food don't expect your server to really care. If I had my way I would never spend my money here again, but I sacrifice for my boyfriend lol. Your best bet is to bypass the service and 90% of the menu by ordering one of their pizzas to-go.

My husband and I have eaten here twice and have yet to try the pizza. From the name I thought it was a Mexican restaurant (even the neon man looks kinda Central American to me, but I guess he can go both ways :) The only thing I don't like about this place is the strong pungent smell of parmesan cheese that hits you like vomit when you enter the door. It brings back memories of fraternity parties (blech) But it smells like this at another well-known Italian restaurant in town, so maybe they just need to clean their 1000 year-old carpets. Or maybe the smell has seeped into the walls and furniture. Who knows. I have had two pasta dishes here and have loved every bite. Stuffed manicotti and eggplant parmesan. Very yummy. The sauces are pretty damn perfect. Wine selection is not bad. Minestrone soup is good. The vegetable sides and the bread are meh. I think I got a little indigestion from a bite of one of my husband's meatballs, though, which was repeated when I stubbornly ate his leftovers the next day (that showed me about stealing his food :) The second time, our waitress was not so good. She did not write down the order and forgot to bring the meatballs. We had to ask for water well into our meal, and it was never refilled. She disappeared for maybe 20 minutes while we were waiting to get the bill and when she reappeared we could not flag her down. And she did not ask us if we wanted dessert (luckily we were too full). Maybe she was having an off day or maybe she had eaten a meatball. This is not a reason to not go back, however, because I don't think it was typical service for this place. Yes, it was very busy. We had to wait at the bar for a kajillion years and I gave up after standing over 5 minutes at the bar to get a beer (I was the only one waiting and there were 2 bartenders - one was the manager). But it seems they were filling the diners' orders first, so I kinda understand. One of the regulars eating at the bar noticed my plight and got the bartender to bring me a beer (my third choice, they had run out of the first two). I won't hold this against them. Perhaps, they need to figure out a better way to deal with this since they are so busy. I am not sure I want to try the pizza...

La Casa is one of my favorite Omaha pizza places. I go to La Casa when I get a specific craving. It's a very unique type pizza. Not in some funky crazy way. Just like I like Zio's for their thick crust: if I want thin I take myself to La Casa. Their pizza specialties aren't anything out of the ordinary. They do however come out in square shaped thin crust. The service is good and the atmosphere is a little out dated but that just adds to the charm. Thurs-Sun I wouldn't be surprised if you were to find a waiting list. The regulars are many as this place has been around for a while. Also, parking can be a bit of a problem. It is limited and Leavenworth can be too busy to park on at times. Be warned. Despite the parking and the possible wait, it will be worth your time to try La Casa.

La Casa's has my favorite pizza. The taste is wonderful, the atmosphere is great and truth be told I could eat La Casa's daily. I always warn the first timer's though that this is not your typical pizza joint - this is a Sicilian type of pizza (I think, lol). I say it's like a gourmet pizza - a thin wonderful crust and they use Romano cheese - all you have to do is ask if you want mozzarella - I get a combination of both. I have tried many things on the menu, but my favorite is definitely the hamburger pizza.

Someone tried to convince me this was racist pizza, but it's not! La Casa is consistently good - delicious cheese, well-done crusts, thin pizzas with a lot of sauce. Mama! Eat it up. Though La Casa is often crowded (with a wait if it's before or after a Creighton game) and the parking lot is a fright....it's worth parking 1/8 of a block away (I know! Unheard of in Omaha!!!) and going there. Checkered table cloths. Lovely employees. A real independent, professional atmosphere here. I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could, because I think it's better than A-OK...but I think you should just go and see for yourself.

Good pizza. Always a fan of a good meat rug!! Not your typical style of pizza, thin waffer-like crispy crust. Chicken and artichoke in garlic cream is really good. ( think it is Pollo Carcofi? Bianco on the menu) There basic hamburger A.K.A meat rug is also good! Get it with both cheese's. Meatball's are tender in that sunday gravy, FORGETABOUTIT!!

A-Ok if you don't count a few things- about 3 dollars more than what I like to pay for non artisan pizza the 3 line caveat on the menu about their"special" baking process that takes XX amount of time for XX size of pizza...so they suggest we order an appetizer! Ha! It takes the same amount of time to bake thier pizzas as any other pizza on the face of this earth...the only thing special was their sneaky little marketing trick to get us to buy more food and get a little more fat...can't fool me La Casa!!! but on the flip side i can say pizza rustica is tasty albeit not the best i have had but is definately better than a chain pizza the waitress was friendly and offered samples of the beer on tap before I placed my order...which was nice-overall the service was good and then- i am just not sure what to think about the interior-the bar reminds me a cruise ship lounge circa 1989 and the main dining area reminds me of a renovated funeral parlor with paintings of owls, deer, and rotisserie chicken..,at least i was visually entertained for the evening...

La Casa serves Neopolitan style pizza in a relaxed atmosphere. The building is actually an old house, hence the name. The restaurant is broken up into the lounge (with bar) and main dining area, and you can dine in either place. The menu is pretty comprehensive, with a great selection of pizza, pastas, salad and more. The pizza is thin, with the perfect amount of toppings for the thinner crust. If you have salad, don't miss out on the creamy Romano dressing. The draft beer selection is solid, as they always have at least three beers from Empyrian Brewing out of Lincoln. Lots of bottled beer to choose from as well. Surprisingly, the dessert menu is filled with goodies from tiramisu to my fav, the neopolitan cheesecake. Nine times out of ten my stomach is too full after the pizza to enjoy it though.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
