I was in Omaha for a week on business, and had a craving for Indian food. Living in Seattle with so many great, authentic Indian establishments, I was skeptical I'd find the same in the Midwest. In fact I found the best Indian food I've ever had! We've even dined in London's Indian district, but this was a pleasant surprise to find in Omaha of all places. The building and furnishings are by no means great, but the food simply amazing. Don't go expecting luxury. Only go here if you want truly authentic Indian cuisine with no frills.

Kurry Xpress is located in an obscure corner of Roxbury Plaza. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Marsala, Samosa, garlic naan, samosa chaat, Hyderbadi 65 (recommended by the staff) and a Mango Lassi to wash it down. I know that seems like a lot of food and trust me, it was. Every bit was good. Lots of boxes were needed that were conveniently( o_O?) located by the self serve wall of tops, straws, napkins etc. This place takes the phrase "help yourself" to whole new level. The Mango Lassi was AMMMMAAAAZZZZING, though. Probably, one of the best I have had. Thick, rich and sweet yum! The Lassi alone is enough for me to return. The Chicken Tikka Masala was decent, a bit sweet for my taste. Not the bright reddish orange that I look for and the texture wasn't as creamy, but it was good. All of the food was good. Nothing really out of the ordinary (except for that Lassi and the..... HYDERBADI 65. Never ever have I heard of this before and it was sooooo goood. It is essentially an Indian version of sweet and sour chicken. Try it you will enjoy it. Why not four stars, Annie? Well I do prefer buffet. style when eating Indian. I honestly believe that Indian Garden offers a better variety of food, better flavor, better atmosphere, and a better price. Dennis M. was right. This place was kinda ghetto and offered no service. I am a stickler for cleanliness and service. Last, item to note they took the trash out through the dining area which to me is totally gross.

Loved the food. Super disappointed with the atmosphere. The place was filthy dirty, outdated, with inappropriate Indian videos blaring in the background. I love Indian music/movie, but this was not enjoyable on any level. Even the trays our food came out on where dirty. The staff seemed bothered to take our order. Rude. So frustrated with that, because the food was amazing. Being stressed about the noise/images (Indian woman doing a pole dance and gyrating with another man), treated like we were a nuisance and afraid to touch anything because of the filth...killed it. Even for amazing food, can't go back or recommend to others. Sorry....was hoping for so much more.

I can't believe that I haven't done a review for this place yet. Despite the obnoxious spelling of this establishment I love the food and I need to tell the world!! I'm going to try to break this down for you as easy as I can: MY INDIAN CUISINE BACKGROUND - Unless there are secret Indian places I don't know of, I have eaten at every Indian restaurant in Omaha - I judge Indian restaurants by their Chicken Tikka Masala and veggie samosas. If you can't make those things.... NEXT and thanks for playing! - I LOVE and miss Chaat (Indian street food) I had a lot of it in SF and more places around here need it! THE GOOD - This place has my favorite Indian food in Omaha! - Only place in Omaha to get Indian Chaat!!! Never heard of it? Google Pani Puri (that's the one I always get) - Cheap @$$ food! - More than generous portions. There are some starving people in the world that could benefit from these large portions THE BAD - The service is half self-serve and awkward - No buffet (I'm a binge eater so this is important to me mmmmkay!) - Your clothes will for sure smell like you just rolled around in a pig pen of tandoori curry masala saag THE UGLY - The place is so ugly that I try to look down when I walk in! I feel like I want to bust out some "Yo mama so ugly...." jokes and replace the word 'mama' with 'Kurry Xpress'. So you walk in and order at the counter. Then you sit and wait for your food. When it's done they tell you to come get it. You get your own utensils, napkins, and you bring your food to your table. They usually have Indian MTV playing on the TV and that's pretty much the extent of anything Indian in the store. Other than that, nada!! I know a lot of people like atmosphere, but the ghettoness combined with no atmosphere makes me like the place even more. MY FAVES HERE - Chef's Special Biriyani Rice (Holy F#%& this $*^! Is BOMB!) I honestly can't explain everything on here, but it's a special kind of biriyani from the village where the chef came from. It's like rice, then soft chicken, then a circle of fried chicken (no bones) in red sauce with an egg in the middle?!??! LOVE IT! - Pani Puri - Like I said before, I'm sad the other Omaha places don't have Chaat, but it's awesome and can be shared as an appetizer. It's messy to eat since you use your hands, but well worth the sloppy mess!! - Chicken Tikka Masala... I mean... this is a given otherwise I wouldn't bother reviewing this place I don't want to knock other Indian places in Omaha because I know that everyone has their own tastes when it comes to Indian food. But Dennis, you should really eat at Mother India... I will review Mother India in due time and I do like their veggie samosas, but Mother India has quickly become the hipster trendy Indian place and I think the other places need to be given a shot too! So don't judge me when I say that MI isn't at the top of my list mmmkay! When it comes to buffets, my favorite in Omaha is India Garden (which I will also review) but for sure they don't have special biriyani and chaat so for the non-binge days. Kurry Xpress is MY choice of Indian!!

Update to my previous review. Ok, they sucked me back in with their fabulously yummy curry. I'v been back their several times since my last review. This place has the best indian in omaha. Yes, they are extremely slow, so show up early. Every dish i'v had there has been great...biryani, curry, masala, korma, naan. Everything is soo flavorful. This is my favorite place in omaha.

I have been spoiled with Mother India for so long, that I hate to compare other Indian restaurants to it, but c'mon! When you have the best, all others seem sub par. Picked up take out on Friday, and the interior of this place was disgusting, grime on the carpet, dust and dirt on the counters. Just didn't seem taken care of. I'm sure most of their business is take out, but try to make the place look somewhat put together. Ordered Malai Kofka, Lamb Vindaloo, samosas and naan. Naan was chewy and rubbery not crispy at all. Vindaloo had fatty, tough pieces and NO heat, just tasted like tomato sauce, this was a huge dissapointment. Malai Kofka was decent, I wasn't blown away, but it filled the void. Mass quantities were really the only saving grace to this place. It was about $26.75 for everything, and I had the leftovers today for lunch, and I was reminded how not good this place was. Although it was close to my temporary home, I do not plan on coming back.

I write my reviews based on the food, which is why this place gets 5 stars from me. I've tried the samosa chaat (reaaally good), chef's special chicken biryani, chef's special chicken curry (my favorite), lamb korma, butter chicken, and naan. The food was all plentiful and delicious. It's the best Indian I've had in town, beating even Mother India. Food aside, there really isn't any service because you order at the counter and refill your styrofoam cup with the water cooler yourself. You will eat off styrofoam or paper plates with plastic cutlery. Expect to wait a while for your food. The interior is bare and uninviting. But you will see a ton of Indian people eating here, which for me is another indication the food is authentic and good. I haven't been in a while, so I'm not sure if they still do it, but if you pay in cash, you get a 10% discount. For the best experience, I recommend ordering ahead, paying in cash, and taking it to go.

I have ordered spl chicken biryani. The chicken pieces are half cooked and smells bad.

First Indian food experience in Omaha. It was a good lunch fix. The two dishes we split and naan, nothing stood out as spectacular.

This place is totally unassuming! It is really hard to find (the sign wasn't lit up at all). The place is not that nice (clean though). The food is really good!! It compares to really expensive food that you would find at the The Jaipur not that far away. The staff is very friendly. They even have Bollywood music videos playing in the corner.

Lived in Nepal for 2 years. This is the BEST Indian food in Omaha! Hands down. These guys are legit.

Their food is awesome. Do not come here if you need a fancy looking place to eat or if you are in a hurry. Expect to wait 20-40 minutes for your food. Deal with it! That's just the way it is and it will be well worth the wait.

This is only for vegetarians , non -vegetarians can ignore this. I am born vegetarians and I always order veg biriyani or any other veg dish from here but recently I noticed that every time I order veg biriyani he has either egg/chicken in that biriyani . I am like boss you have separate egg biriyani and chicken biriyani when I am ordering veg biriyani it means that I want to eat veg biriyani its not like you add egg or chicken in that.I wouldn't be writing this review if this happened with me once, It happened to me more than 1 time and I am so pissed off with this guy. When I call him and question why do I have egg/chicken in veg biriyani he is like sir please take off egg/chicken and eat the veg biriyani. I was surprised to see this response from him . He also says "in every veg dish here you have either veg or chicken mixed so you might see a veg biriyani from outside but internally it surely has either chicken or egg in it " ( this statement from Kurry express guy made me resistant from not going there). once upon a time this was my fav restaurant as day's progressed the quality is reducing. I request the owners to look at this post and try to have a better food service for vegetarians. I would be eagerly waiting for corrective action on this issue from owner and would be really happy if this restaurant comes in my top 3 fav food places again .

I have gone from loving their Chicken Biryani, to being just a little bit obsessed with it. The flavors are just amazing, and after trying some of the other Indian places in town, there really isn't anything else like it. Also their tandoori chicken (in the Chicken Tikka Masala, or in the Butter Chicken) has a smokiness and depth I also haven't found anywhere else, and is wonderful tender and moist. Then the combo of have the Butter Chicken on top of the Chicken Biryani, it just is fantastic. This is a place I crave constantly and try to get to weekly.

Probably the best Samosas I have eaten. Usually Samosas are frozen and nuked. These were great. The service could have been a bit bettter.

Will agree with the other reviews on the atmosphere of this place. Definitely a whole in the wall and I wish there was better napkins and silverware. However, this is the best Chicken Tikka Masala I have had in Omaha. I have had Indian food all over the US and my favorite has always been in Chesterfiled MO and Chicago. I finally found dish in my home city to complete! The only downside was the garlic naan, it was more of a cracker bread.

I've just relocated to Omaha for a new job and found this place on yelp. I love Indian food and have had it at establishments from LA to NYC and in between. I agree there is no decor, but the service was friendly and quick. They even gave me some free raita because I forgot to order it when I called in my order. I had the paneer saag, lamb vindaloo and garlic naan (along with the free raita). The paneer saag was creamy and the paneer was an excellent texture with just the right amount of chew. The lamb vindaloo was the spiciest I've ever had and I love it. Usually it's not enough for me but this one was just about right. The raita was lacking that cucumbery essence for lack of a better term. All in all the prices were great, service was quick and friendly and the food was decent enough to satisfy my craving.

Ok. I will be gentle and forgiving about some little things. After all, they did spell curry wrong... In all seriousness the food was decent. I have had the chana masala, chicken tikki masala, lamb vindaloo, samosas, and the naan. The vindaloo had maybe thee potatoes in it as well, still fairly tasty though. All the food was edible, the chana was flat out enjoyable, but the cost for the location and atmosphere was too high. I decided that since they were close to my office I might get some delivered. Well, the ten dollar delivery fee scratched that off my menu list very quickly. If you want to call ahead for to-go chana masala and rice, worth it, otherwise I feel bad to say it, but take the trip to Mother India. Oh, and you get your own water from a water cooler. And they charge more to use a card over cash. This place is ok if you need curry, especially in an express fashion. But if you are like me and love your Indian food, you need to see a little more effort.

Kurry Xpress: I don't know how you do what you do but I hope you never stop doing it. This food rocks! I had the yellow lentis, my main man had the chicken tikki and we shared some spicy cauliflower appy. Watch out, people, this food was fresh, spicy and each drop of saucy Indian goodness was licked up. Do yourself a favor and don't dismiss this place by its name (or how it's spelled) or by the location and awful decor....they put all their effort into the food. It's freshly prepared so expect a 25 minute wait. But don't spend that long waiting to go. Damn good place in omaha!

They've been open for awhile and I can tell with better timing and more consistent food and service. The saag and chicken tikka masala are regular staples - it's that good. The lamb/goat biryani is super tasty and the vindaloo is a party in your mouth. We've resorted to over-ordering entrees so we have leftovers. Sheesh...I might have to order carryout tonight.

Another Indian restaurant in town, but I like desi food so why not lol. The menu's are decent. I had chicken biryani first time and it was ok. I tried some veg samosa and they were real good. Good thing about this place is the menu items are not expensive. Try it out!!! Pro: cheap. Cons: I thought there would be a drive thru. They said they will have soon. Let's see. Othewise wouldn't it be cool to get some samosa on the go....haha.

Finally found it and tried it today, and was greatly disappointed. Ordered the flagship dish, chicken tikka masala. It was just OK. Sauce was not as spicy as I had hoped, the chicken was dry, and it had green peppers in it (wtf is that all about). My meal cost $10 bucks with garlic naan. The portion size was ridiculous for this price. Not enough rice and not enough chicken. It was served with two fried dumplings (I think aloo tikki) which were cold, soggy, and flavorless. The depressing iceberg salad had no dressing on it. Also, no mulligatawny? What the hell? Naan was not good, little flavor and NO sauce. Barely could eat half of it. Was still rather hungry at the end of the meal, which is not typical at a curry joint! Won't be coming back, sorry. This was as bad as it gets.
