We visited Kobe's August 30. Save your money! There were 12 of us at the Hibachi. The cook first of all refused to add teriyaki sauce to my shrimp saying that it would ruin them . They ended up bland and under cooked. Everything was burned; yes burned with charcoal on the vegetables, rice and entree. I really don't think he cared one bit about his customer. He was more into off color jokes and horseplay. The grill had a solid coating of char on it when he finished. We eat at many Japanese restaurants and are normally always satisfied or delighted. This was a disaster. Never, never again, Cost of this for myself and spouse? With tip $72.

Wow! Where to start.... First, the new building is absolutely beautiful. I was sad to hear you were moving, not only because I liked the old restaurant, but it would be a much farther drive. After seeing the new location, I know it will be worth the extra time to get there from Papillion! We loved the sushi bar! Next, I really loved the food. The ingredients were top of the line. It seems like the food has had an upgrade along with the move. All seven people at the table who ordered a filet said that their filet was the best they had ever eaten. I had the chicken and sirloin and it was wonderful! The best part, the food was even better than before, but the prices did not go up. My family has always loved Kobe's, but the new restaurant and food really exceeded my expectations. Great job! Finally, every staff member was incredible. My daughter and I showed up without reservations and the hostess was so helpful, shifting tables to fit us in earlier than we hoped. Even though they were fully booked, we only waited about 20 minutes. She made sure we were taken care of while we were waiting and even carried our drinks to the table. Our cook really took time and got to know the people at our table. He did a great job of interacting with the table. He was friendly and did an excellent job cooking our food. A few more weeks and we will return to celebrate three birthdays! I can't wait to return!

A typical Japanese tepanyaki grill experience which comes with the typical Japanese tepanyaki grill prices ($$$). They do the standards such as flaming onion volcano, tossing of the shrimp, and egg juggling / fried-rice-making shtick. The service is great considering you have the chef cooking right in front of you and interacting with you throughout the meal. The food is heavily Americanized Japanese food and is quite good. This place is great for special occasions. The prices are pretty steep, but you get good food and entertainment at the same time so it kind of evens out. While their food is good, you can get authentic Japanese food for half the price. You really just come here for the tepanyaki show and once you've seen it once, you don't really need to see it again. Hence, only three stars.

Kobe Steak House is a pretty typical Japanese restaurant where the food is cooked in front of you. I'm told that this is called hibachi, which is also the word used to describe the very small grills that burn down trailer homes in Oklahoma. Let me assure you that the grills at Kobe are much larger than those white trash fire hazards. I've had several different chefs at this place, and they all seem to have the same bag of food tricks that inevitably involve turning an onion into a volcano with sake and flipping various meats at your face. That last part sounds a little nasty, but I can assure you only meats from the grill made from cows and chickens are launched towards your face. If you choose to eat at a place like this, you're not often doing so because you think the food is stellar, but the food is actually pretty decent, and you get large portions to make the cost worthwhile.

I have been going here on special occassions for many years now. I love this place. The food is always amazing and enjoy catching an airborne shrimp or 3. Obviously a little on the pricey side, but that's what makes it a nice treat every once in a while.

Service was good. Drinks were refilled promptly and courteously. I had the filet mignon which was ok. A bit chewey and had a pungent smell and taste to it. As far as the steak goes, it was average, no where near the best I've had where it melts in your mouth. The chef was good and the "show" was standard, the volcano, flipping bowls of rice and shrimp at you. Probably won't go back but it's not a bad place if you haven't experienced this place. The dinner totaled $96 for 4 without tip.

I agree that "some" of the food is steep. The basics are really really cheap. Drinks are outrageously priced. Run for the hills if you want a cheap drink. Other than that... The service is pretty decent. I was disappointed for my last birthday. They sat 6 of us with 2 others. It was really crowded. They could have easily put the couple with another group that came in at the same time who wasn't there for a special occassion. They spent more time showing off for the couple than they did for me or my party. That obviously affected their tip. Whatever. I do have to add that they can make up some darn good Fried Rice (though, mine at home is better). I suggest that if you're going out for a birthday that you may want to steer clear of this joint. Unless of course the party is for your parents or a young child.

We always enjoy our meal at Kobe. Steak is excellent with the mild sauce. Service is prompt--maybe even a bit fast.

The food was amazing! I got the filet mignon, lobster, scallops, shrimp combo. AMAZING. Will order that everytime no doubt. Entertainment was decent. Overall great experience. Happy customer here.

The food ok nothing to celebrate but not horrible. The chef was very rehearsed. His presentation was scripted. Again food ok. What really bothered me was there was an used lemon half on the ground when one staff members noticed and said to me "oh gross lemon on the floor not my job to pick it up". Then two other staff members walked by and even stepped over it before finally someone cleaned up the floor.

Went here for our daughters birthday most recently, but have been here quite a few times over the years. Depending on who your 'chef' is, I would say it can easily rank as a three star place, but the guy we had this time was a blast, and cooked our meal very well at the same time. I would say kids really like it, as the place was packed when we arrived, and 90% of the tables had kids. Basically you sit around a large cooktop, place your order (steak, chicken, shrimp, etc.) and your meal is prepared in front of you, with the chef cracking some jokes (usually the same stuff, but our guy went off script a bit so it was fun) flipping things in the air and performing little tricks as he goes. You end up with an Americanized Asian dish of meat, veggies and steamed or fried rice. Our meal this time was very good, the steak cooked well and very tender. The shrimp tends to get a bit over cooked, but they do save some to try and flip from the grill to your mouth. Overall, it is a decent meal, with a bit of entertainment to boot. Not a bad place to come from time to time, especially if you have kids in tow.

We've been here several times blah blah...I previous visits were more theatrical. Maybe that's because they were weekend and this visit was during the week. Anyway food is decent and its fun to watch them make it in front of you. I thought a bigger deal should have been made by the chef over the birthday we were celebrating. Blah blah blah, go on the weekend or prepare for somewhat blah performance and service.

Food is good and the sushi which was lacking previously was very good last night. Had three different rolls, as well as smelt roe, eel, and mackerel. All tasty. Our party of four enjoyed various entrees such as steak, chicken, shrimp and I also had calamari. All items were good (a bit salty). Best thing of the night was our cook; Josh. He is simply outstanding. Attentive, helpful and funny. Giving good recommendations and running commentary all the while demonstrating new and interesting tricks while cooking the meals. If you have the chance, see if you can get Josh as your cook for the meal. Very entertaining. He really made the evening worthwhile.

Kobe has a fantastic location, and the new building is great. Food was no better than average for a teppanyaki restaurant; nothing special. This company has stores in Omaha, St Louis, and Wichita. Chef was very accomplished at throwing shrimp into patron's mouths but a real smart ass. His "humor" was not appreciated, but his cooking was "good."

Very good show and the food is excellent! This is the only place I will eat Asian food. My children also LOVE this place. I've been here quite a few times and plan on being back many more!

At my most recent experience here, I sat on the sushi side. They don't have as big of a sushi sushi selection as some other places in Omaha but it is still pretty good. The Hawaiian and Mexican roll are very tasty. We also ordered the rainbow roll and was disappointed with this. They only had salmon, avocado and a very small piece of shrimp on the top of the roll. Typically I also see tuna and whitefish, but that was not present. If you are on the sushi side you cannot order anything from the grill. You can get some appetizers, but otherwise your only other options are going to be sushi. As far as on the grill side, it is always a fun experience whether you are with adults only or have the kids join. Keep in mind it will probably be difficult to get out of the Grill side without spending at least $100. I think there are newer location is very nice.

Fantastic food. The entertainment of our chef Jar was to good. Comedy gold with the cooking skills of a top chef.

Really? No one is sitting in the 2nd half of the restaurant and you won't serve me something vegan because it isn't on the "bar menu". Now, I see why no one was sitting in that area and why many others have given you bad reviews also. This place does not have good customer service when it comes to dietary restrictions and food allergies. Also, hire hostesses with customer service skills verses ladies that starring off all dumb like a deer in headlights when asked a question..........

  • Erika R.

The sushi is good but not for the price. $8.50 for a spicy tuna roll and $14 for a specialty roll?! Kinda crazy. We had the Hawaiian roll and the Omaha roll. The Omaha roll had a nice amount of tuna but it wasn't very flavorful. The atmosphere was great and the server was great.

I have never left unsatisfied here! The show is great and fun and the food is amazing. I like the filet mignon and add lobster, sooo good!!!

Ok I felt rushed... We sat down and she says you want to order.... I said no can you take my drink order first.... But the sushi was actually really good! I would go back but slow down!! If I wanted fast food I would go to McDonnalds

I don't know if it's just because I'm old and cynical, but this place has REALLY gone downhill. We've been out to the new location a couple of times now on different occasions and while the decor is updated and really quite nice, I can assure you that nothing else has been improved upon. The food is just okay. They start you out with an overly salty soup and a salad. And while the ginger dressing is actually quite good, you'd think that for $20 a plate they could splurge for something more than soggy iceberg lettuce to serve it on. The fried rice and veggies are also quite good -- they're the first two things cooked on the hibachi grill and arguably the highlight of the meal and one of only two parts of the "show" I find entertaining anymore (the other being the shrimp toss). Then comes the meat. They ask how you want your steak cooked, but since all of the meat is dumped on the grill at the same time I have yet to have mine cooked to order. Maybe if I order it rare, they'll get to it a LITTLE sooner and I'll have a chance at medium rare?? Finally you get the "show" of shrimp tossed into your mouth and an onion "train" and "volcano." Not exactly the kind of show that makes the otherwise lack-luster food worth twice the normal price. The service also leaves a lot to be desired. On our last visit, my husband never got the beer he ordered and a friend in our group had a full bowl of salad spilled on her wool coat. I can absolutely forgive an accident -- but I can't forgive a lack of service recovery. She had to ASK for them to pay for her dry cleaning. Classy. All that said, I'm sure we'll be back when the kiddo gets a little older. It's worthwhile the first time around -- after that, there are plenty of other places to spend the same amount of money for a much better meal.

Everything was great! Tried the "yummy roll" for an appetizer, and it was just like the name, yummy. The food tasted great from shrimp and scallops to filet, and there was a ton if it, and the experience was fun for the whole family. Fried rice and veggies were awesome and plentiful. It's not cheap but at least everything tasted amazing, and we had fun.

I'll try to keep this brief. If you're looking for any sort of flavor combination, this is not your place. Everything served to us was drenched in soy sauce. I would like to actually be able to tell the difference in flavor from the veggies to the meats. I've heard that your food quality greatly depends on the chef you are stuck with, but every chef I saw was using a ton of soy and special seasoning. . The steak temps were all well done (requested med rare), the mahi mahi was dry, the lobster was chewy, the shrimp was nowhere near fresh, and the scallops were ok. If you choose to eat anything from the grill here, be sure your heart is in excellent condition or you bring an AED. I consumed a full weeks worth of sodium in my rice alone. The only reason I gave a 2 instead of a 1 was because the service was OK. Our bill was about $200 which included 2 apps and 4 dinks for a party of 4. My advice, if you want good food, go somewhere else. If you want to see an onion volcano, make your own.

This was an amazing place to go on a date! My boyfriend and I got to seat on a table with other couples. Which made our experience even better, we had the funniest man cooking for us! He was making jokes the whole time. The food was so delicious! I cannot wait to go again!

Our experience here was really good, not perfect (5 stars), but almost. Pros: 1. Nice new location was well put together. 2. Good lighting 3. Food was pretty good 4. Our chef was awesome, really entertaining and knew how to work the crowd. Cons: 1. Really warm in there. Our room was completely packed (all cooking stations were occupied) on a Thursday evening and I wish they would have had better temperature control because it was at least 78 degrees. 2. Can be really loud. Unfortunately, half of our room was filled for a 21st birthday party and as such, lots of chattering/yapping 21 year old girls. 3. The teriyaki sauce has a banana flavor. I ordered the steak and salmon dish and chose teriyaki sauce and it seriously taste like soy sauce mixed with banana extract...a mixture between interesting and unpalatable. Overall, we would probably come back maybe on a less busy evening/time of year and NOT order the banana teriyaki sauce. Compared to Genji, this place knows what they're doing. See my Genji review here: yelp.com/biz/genji-japan…

Good food BUT, don't think for a minute you can walk in and eat. Plan ahead at least 1-2 weeks. Seriously?????? Not a spur of the moment decision place!

I always enjoy dinner here. Not only do you get a show but the food is always good. Compared to other reviews, I think you get quite a lot for the money. The vegetables, rice, salad and soup are all very satisfying in addition to your selected meal.

This was such a fun atmosphere last night. Our chef was absolutely hilarious. The food was delicious from the soup to the salads, fried rice and steak. My date had the salmon and she was not disappointed. Can't wait to go again!

so back when it was in regency my family went there as a tradition, one time we found a bug and that bothered my mom and dad so we stopped going. yesterday was the first time i had been there in a long time. The soup is different (bad) as well is the salad everything else was good but it really made my mother sick

No problems with the cooks or the staff.. The Food just not good at all. The Chinese buffet has better tasting food.

Great atmosphere and the Chefs are great entertainers. Our kids (6 & 4) loved it too and they tried a lot of things they wouldn't have elsewhere (due to the entertainment factor). Steak, shrimp and lobster were all seasoned well and quite tasty. Only drawback - no one offered us dessert for a birthday party. So we took our money across the parking lot for yogurt.

Went for dinner tonight. It was our third visit to this location. It's safe to say we keep returning for a reason... The food!! We had the same chef as last time (guy who looks like the thief "Marv" from Home Alone). As usual he rocked it. Mostly same jokes but he mixed it up a little bit tonight. Which was refreshing. I was telling my fiancée, as veterans of the establishment, I could do with a little less back and forth between the chef and a little more with just focusing on the delicious food! However, I understand the appeal to most. Side note, sign up for Kobe's email specials. Every few months or so there are really good deals that we capitalize on. We each got chicken and shrimp combos with fried rice. Total bill.. $30 even. With TONS left over. Well worth the value in our humble opinions.

Great food. Decent entertainment. A little pricey. Once you been here you can guess the routine of the chefs. But once in a while they will surprise you with something new.

The food is good, but this is the kind of place where you pay a premium for the experience (read: melting pot), except there's no 'do it yourself' action here. You're just supposed to sit back, watch your cook, and try to keep up as they load you up with soup, salad, veggies, rice, and meat (approximately in that order). If you've been more than once, you already know the jokes, the tricks (volcano, spinning egg, tossing shrimp), etc. But it's especially fun with a large group (at least 8 to fill a table) or with an even larger group (so you have two tables filled and can heckle each other). But I always was very excited to go there growing up because as a kid the fire and spectacle is much more amusing. Still, I thought it was fantastic when I was younger. Not really a place to eat on a regular basis ever, but with a large group it's a great time.

deff loved this place when it was over in REGENCY but now that its all hyped up and new it kinda drained the mood out of the resturant that i fell in love with. it didnt help that the ENTIRE table next to us was 5 kids and one adult. PARENTS: dont freekin bring your kids here. its a date night kinda deal and it really irritates me when theyre are screaming kids. i took my hubby on his last night here before he deployed and it was horrible -_- other then that the food is always good! but here at the new one the flavor seemed drained and the cook was not friendly at all, if your used to their show then you know the cooks have to be very friendly and this time they were not! i told the manager about my expierence and how i could go out there and do this show by meself thats how many times i had been a REGENCY

I always leave this place happy. The presentation never ceases to impress. A large group is preferable but my wife and I have fun even when it's just the two of us.

This place was absolutely HORRIBLE and the chef, if you can call him that, was inexperienced and it showed!!!! Everything was either overcooked or bland! The waiter on the other hand was attentive and the only bright spot of the evening. This was our first visit and probably our last!

This place is interesting to say the least. If you're not familiar with the concept, it'll be worth going here just once to try it out. Order first, then you're seated around a table with a central grill and your own private chef cooks the food for you. It's supposed to be impressive, with tons of culinary tricks and funny jokes. Google tepanyaki to find more. Our chef was a klutz. He was clearly new, as he was pretty conservative when doing the tricks. When twirling around his cooking utensils at the start of the cooking session, he let go of the knife and it flew halfway across the table - probably not one of the safest things ever, but we'll let it slide. I'm not going to rate this restaurant badly based on one chef, but bear in mind your entertainment experience here may vary depending on the chef you get. The food was pretty good. All of the entrees come with a clear soup and an interesting salad with a bright orange dressing. Both were pretty good. We ordered the Crab Rangoon, but they weren't very good at all - filling was mediocre at best. A typical cream cheese dominant deep fried wrapper. The fried rice was stellar. Seriously, it really accented a lot of the food. Our chicken was a bit overcooked, but we'll blame that on the inexperienced chef again. All of the vegetables were well seasoned and flavored, and the shrimp and steak were both delicious. On a side node, the crabmeat they offer is imitation, which really bothers me and its why I gave this restaurant three stars. Imitation crab meat is heavily processed, fully cooked fish. Not sure why I was paying premium prices to watch some klutzy cook "masterfully" grill some fully cooked process fish.

I really find it hard to believe that this place is as popular as it is! Don't get me wrong, the food isn't bad, but it's just "ok". I travel on business so I've been to hibachi restaurants all over the country. There was really no show here, it's almost as if they didn't even care. The fillet was decently cooked and rather tender. The rice, very dry and far too many peas. The salad was dried out and the dressing wasn't the best. For the shrimp, they don't use anything to grill them in, just a little seasoning. I'm usually used to a little soy, just like the steak. I was seated quickly enough even though they were terribly busy right at opening. From arrival to walking out, around 45 minutes so pretty good. Wish the quality of the food was a bit better, but all in all it was ok.
