Okay, the gorilla on the outside and the outside of the building made us drive around looking for somewhere else to eat. However, I was surprised. I got the chicken gyro it was good. Real breast of chicken, not processed. The fries were really good!!

I went here on Monday and got 2 gyros which was 10 something.. then again on a diff day or the week and got one which was like 8 or 9$ I think they have a special on Mondays for gyros. They where okay. They give free extra sauce. Wish I could have found Johns gyros on fort crook but I couldn't find them. @ least king kong place is easy to find and that's why they got my business. I still wanted to try Johns tho cause king kong wasn't exactly the kind of gyro I like. It was a little on the plane side as far as flavor. They do give a lot of.meat tho on the gyros.

Too expensive for us.! My son had a cheese burger (one patty) & fries. I had a gyro plate. We both had water $24

this place is very expensive for what it is. they charge separate for everything, and you don't get that much meat in a gyro. disappointed!

Came after going to to the zoo with the kids. I got the gyro plate and it cost about $13 after fries and a drink. The service was quick and the food was ok. Definitely not worth the price.

I have come to King Kongs (Dodge St location) for years but only for their Gyros, which are very good. A friend convinced me that their steaks are even as good. So being a little hesitant I tried one. It comes with a Greek salad and rice and potatoes. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. For the price you really cannot beat this. Maybe overly seasoned, but it is Greek. I will try them again for sure.

It's a sketchy looking place but the food is great! We tried the Philly steak, cheeseburger and gyro. We'd def eat there again.

I was hesitate to check in because of the big gorilla in front of the restaurant which kinda indicate I would eat gorilla meat but then I decided to try something new and I was glad I did. I had the Greek Gyro and it was really good, the fry is even better than McDonald. My friend said his Phillies was also good.

I love this place! The best Greek salad in town. They also have the closest thing to a real Philly cheese steak in Nebraska, or the mid-west for that matter! They have amazing fries and whatever seasoning they use is addicting. This is the best location to visit, other than the one in Lincoln. I love that they have a drive-thru as it makes for a great late night snack:)

Been a fan of King Kongs for over two decades now. You can't brat them for food quality. Their burgers are 1/2 pounders. The steak and gyros are cooked to perfection. The dinner plates are awesome. If you leave here hungry see your doctor. You may have a tape worm. Make sure to get some baklava to take home.

If you're visiting the Zoo, this is the place to eat. Although the menu features the Kong burgers, I usually prefer the other fare. They have the cheapest steaks in town, especially when they're on special on Sunday and Wednesday. The flavor is good, and they're fairly tender. The gyros are my favorite entree, though I usually pull off some of the onions. The Tzatziki sauce on the gyros isn't always consistent; recently it's been more like runny sour cream, but I still like it. The salads come with oil/vinegar dressing, olives, feta cheese, tomatoes, and a pepper. If you order an entree salad, you can get it with a generous helping of Gyro meat. Although there isn't much choice in how the salad is prepared, it's one of the best bets in this part of Omaha for something bordering on healthy. They have an unusual rice+potato+bean side dish. The fries are consistently good, with a generous helping of seasoned salt. Don't forget to try the sweet, flaky baklava. As of spring, 2013, prices ranged from $5.99 for a 1/2 pound single hamburger to $13.99 for a 2-pound Super Kong burger with bacon or mushrooms. Once or twice a year, as a gift to the community, the owner opens the doors and provides free meals to everyone. This is a spectacular act of generosity. The atmosphere is very informal, with all manner of King Kong and gorilla-themed decorations--if you have kids, "count how many gorillas you see" is a great activity here. These comments are equally applicable to all three King Kong locations in Omaha. Nearby alternatives: A few miles to the south, there's Stella's if you're after stellar hamburgers. If you want something creamy with a burger, and the weather's nice enough to eat outside, try Zesto's to the south and across 13th (Zesto's is closed for repairs in 2013). Fast food chains and ethnic restaurants abound if you head north on 13th St.

The family split two Gyro platters. Needless to say, we snarfed them up. The right amount of food for the five of us.

Fries, I see a mountain of fries. I got the gyro platter from the drive through window around closing time, I remember the same experience from the King Kong on dodge before the renovation. Basically if you order a gyro combo with fries, you actually receive a platter of fries with a side gyro. About the side gyro, it was pretty big, a bit hard to grab with your hand, yet was still dwarf by the mountain of fries. Taste wise, it felt fast food like: meat was pretty oily, pita was soggy. I try be critical about my food, but don't get me wrong it is still best bank for the buck.

$44 dollars for three kids meals and regular cheeseburger????? Are you serious ???? Hell No, this place is over priced and the employee was rude. McDonalds is up the street one block. Steer Clear of this Place!!!

When visiting Omaha and a friend told us to give Kong Burgers a try. SWEET BABY JESUS THE BURGER WAS BIG ENOUGH TO FEED A SMALL FAMILY FOR A WEEK. I am not joking. My friend convinced me to order the Super Kong Burger which was 4 patties deep and 2 pounds. It was amazing. Didn't finish it and hated myself for trying but it was an incredibly delicious giant burger. Wife had the Gyro's which she raved about for a good while. Overall great food. The only thing not impressive was the cleanliness of the place, not dirty, but not clean either.

I was on the fence about whether to give it 3 stars or 4, but ultimately I feel like 4 is fair for food and overall experience. The service was just a little iffy...and I have heard that this place is family owned so I guess I was kind of hoping for actual Greek people making Greek food, but I guess they do have multiple locations... Anyway. I can't get enough gyros in my life. Theirs didn't disappoint, and they have enormous portions. I'm pretty sure their kids meals have the same amount of food as the adult portions, and I'm also pretty sure we could have split one meal between our 3 kids. My boyfriend got a burger the size of his head and an order of fries, which I shared with him. I could barely finish my gyro and knew I probably wouldn't need to order anything else. We stopped here for lunch on our way to the zoo, it was fairly busy but clean and they were pretty fast and efficient. My little kids were impressed by the gorilla statues/sign and all of the stuffed animals hanging inside. We probably could have skipped the zoo.

I am giving this place three stars only because I enjoyed my gyro. We were visiting Omaha from out of state and saw this place because it was right by the zoo and decided to try it even though it looked a little sketchy. We walked in and it smelled terrible, but wanting to try something we didn't have at home, we still went ahead. My husband ordered his meal, a double cheeseburger with bacon, fries and a drink, the total was $18 before I even ordered. I figured for that price, the food must be pretty good. He took a bite and did not like it one bit. I tried it just to make sure he was telling the truth. It tasted like a frozen patty you buy from the supermarket-definitely disappointed. He did not even finish his meal. He said what was even worse than eating it was when he kept burping it up the entire time we were at the zoo. I would recommend the gyro but nothing else.

9:35 P.M. All exterior lights off. Drive thru menu off. So I called the number listed next to their hours of operation which states closing at 9:00 P.M. At first the young lady said we are closed, than back tracked when I told her It says online that your open tell ten. So went back and ordered our food. The cook was yelling at the drive thru attendant obviously regarding our order. Which again was placed at 9:35. Bad business operations.

Coming from Colorado.....I have no idea what the people of Omaha are smoking. ((I would like to note that this review only applies to the burgers)) Driving thru town I really wanted to avoid the typical fast food fare and was delighted when I read all the good Yelp reviews for King Kong. When we pulled up, I was a little taken aback by the odd menu format, but who cares we are getting 2 burgers, 2 fries and 2 cokes. I was pretty stoked when I opened the takeout box and saw a giant burger, it looked so good I took a huge bite......a combination of custom season and 5 year old gyro grease filled my mouth. It was odd, but I tried to power thru because I had lobbied hard to make this stop over others. 3 bites in was all I could take, we threw the rest away and got back on I-80....so sad I had high hopes for that giant ape....but in the end he fell off the Empire State Building....somewhere in the back of my mind I knew he would. Again, note that we only tried the burgers.

Please note that the star ratings are only applicable to other establishments within the same class: Fast food. Considering I can go through drive-thru and get a cooked to order steak that is thick and juicy AND cooked to my temp (Mid-Rare) This place is wonderful!!! They also do great gyros and HUGE burgers!!!! For fast food steak and burgers this place rocks!!!

For fast food, there may be none better. I had the sirloin with fries and a salad, best fast food meal I have had in a long time. Wife and kid both got a single cheeseburger and fries only to find out they could have split one order. The servings were huge and the prices were fair, would def go back.

I came in here after being at the zoo all day and was looking forward to a good meal. Aside from the service, it was OK. I waited for someone to take my order for like 5 minutes. Mind you the place was dead. Finally the cook came around and asked if I have been helped. I said no and he walked off and few minutes later someone finally took my order. I ordered a fish plate, it came with rice and a small salad. The sandwich was OK. It was really greasy and not much flavor to it. King Kong specializes in hamburgers so maybe they are a lot better.

Driving down 80 on our way west, we spotted King Kong. This place is awesome. First of all, there are amazing little ape statues outside that child-adults as well as children can climb on for awesome instagramming. Then, you walk in and the decor is amazing. Hanging plush primates from the ceiling, 2 skillcranes, and a 2 piece Ape band with a black ape on percussion and a pink ape on keys. I mean, before you even get the food you are just drawn in and amazed!!! This place specializes in gyros, so I got the gyro salad. It was a giant portion of romaine, olives, feta, tomatoes, greek dressing, gyro meat, and a side of sauce. It was great, and I finished up with a big piece of baklava. Such a wonderful alternative fast food stop to all of the other boring corporate chains you are usually limited to while on the road. They are a local chain, with 4 locations, so you can feel much better about supporting them than adding to Mickey D's giant profit. Ooga Booga!!!!!

For some reason when I see a giant gorilla and sign that says King Kong, it doesn't make me think of Greek food. Despite the identity crisis, this place actually measures up. Now this is not a 4 star establishment, but it's a solid for stars for what it is... fast food Greek! The portion sizes are ridiculously huge, but I guess that shouldn't surprise me in Nebraska. (The home place of my giant sized boyfriend! =). I ordered a kids grilled cheese sandwich, Greek salad, and a piece of baklava for dessert. It was served in a pita, and was enough food for about 3 kids! The fries were fantastic and the baklava melted in my mouth... sooo delicious! The salad was very tasty with huge hunks of fresh feta, very impressive for a fast food joint. The group ordered a variety of platters and gyros and everyone seemed to be pleased and had more than their fair share of food. I would definitely recommend getting your hand stamped, and heading to King Kong during trip to the zoo. You'll spend half the price and get a better quality and portion of food for your money.

Eh. Greek, burger, fast-food joint. The only reason I would come here, is to avoid the food in the zoo...which is why I'm here.

I love the gyros! Priced well for what you get; offering daily specials also. I stay with the gyro & fries but have friends who get the burgers and they love them. Steak on the menu too.
