The daily special we got today was a top sirloin which included steak, a salad, and either fries or rices and potatoes for only $9.99. This was a great deal, and all of the food was very flavorful and well seasoned. We also got my dad a triple cheeseburger (1.5 lbs!). This didn't seem worth the cost ($16.99) but we got it for him anyway. After seeing it, I still don't believe it was worth the cost. This didn't even include fries which we had to pay for separately. The fries were very tasty (just as all other reviewers have mentioned). We will probably try this place again but eat inside the restaurant because they give you more food when you eat there.

Your typical King Kong experience -- which means you go here for a hearty meal, especially if you're in the mood for burgers and gyros. On my recent visit here, I picked up the sirloin dinner for about $10. They also sold me some fries for an additional $3, which was unnecessary because the dinner comes with pita bread and Greek salad. The sirloin was good, however, and remains a great deal for a fast food steak dinner. I opted for drive through, and it's worth noting the fries were soggy by the time I got home. Perhaps King Kong is best experienced fresh when you dine in. Overall a little pricey, but still a great place for a gut-busting meal cooked fresh to order.

I've been working in Omaha now for several years, and after watching the commercial for this place over that time period wrote myself a note to finally visit... And it was just Ok. I ordered a Gyro sandwich with no onions... Got it to go so I could go through Airport Security. The sandwich was loaded (as in way too much) special sauce and tomatoes that are way out of season. I scraped off what I could (see image) and wolfed it down. I would go back (read that as glutton for punishment), but next time would try a burger (They looked awesome!) Here's the rundown: Was I satisfied: No Will I return: Yes Will I tell others: Uh... Maybe

King Kong is a fast food restaurant that serves a somewhat unusual combination of menu items - Burgers, Phillies, Gyros, Steaks, Salads, and Greek Pastries. They specialize in giant Burgers (King Kong!) that are at least 1/2 lb per patty, but they'll stack them up to make double, triple, and even ridiculously humongous 2 lb quadruple burgers. They serve gyros (from a real spit, or Shawarma, or whatever they call that spinning meat cooking machine), and Greek salads that look very good although I haven't tried one yet. I usually have the 1/2 lb King Kong burger and I can generally only eat about half of it (it's the smallest burger but it's big enough to share with a friend - however you shouldn't feel forced to share it because the price is very reasonable.) The burgers are very good and they taste like they're cooked on a "Burger King" type grill with a good charcoal flavor. The fries are coated, probably with some type of batter I think - not my favorite, but I don't have a strong objection. My only major complaint was that they don't offer brewed iced tea. I recommend you should definitively check this place out when you have a King Kong sized appetite.

King Kong steaks, Gyros and Greek Salads at a very affordable price. Huge dining area. Walk up counter where you order your food. Quality is excellent!

I've been here a few times over the last 6 years. Personally, I think this place is a bit over-hyped, overrated, and overpriced. Gyros are just okay. I think you can get better Gyros at Greek Islands or at John's Grecian Delight. Honestly, almost all gyros restaurants get their gyros meat from the same company (Kronos) and cook it in the same brand of vertical broiler. So, there really isn't much difference in the flavor of the meat from one gyro place to another. The only thing that does very is the texture as some places sear it on a flat top grill before serving it and other places shave it off in advance and that can cause it to dry out a little.. So, it's the pita, tzatziki, and veggies that really define a place's gyro. Baklava is a bit of a rip-off (you basically get 2 or 3 bites for $3). They put it in individual containers for sale, but none of the containers are dated. Also, instead of thin crispy layers of filo it can get soggy and taste doughy (too much moisture building up in the container?). Not good. Burgers are tasty and have a unique flavor (tastes like Worcestershire sauce to me, but my brother insists it's Greek seasonings). Their standard burger is a large 1/2 pound patty. Unfortunately, their burgers (when not on special) are close to $8 and that doesn't include fries or a drink. So, a burger, fries, and drink and you're paying close to $12 for a fast food burger meal. No thanks. Hamburger Kids Meal is $9. They also serve steaks, but they are rather thin. They look large from the top, but from the side they're maybe 1/2 inch in thickness when cooked. Lots of fat and gristle too (but at this price point what kind of beef were you expecting?). I suppose if you're going to order steak in a fast food restaurant, then this is what you should expect. Some people could care less about the cut or quality of their steak. They're just giddy to be eating a steak for cheap. So, I suppose this makes those people happy. The restaurant is set-up in so many bad ways. First, the counter is extremely wide, but you have to place and pick-up your order in this narrow area by the register. The concept of taking orders at one end of the counter and picking them up at the opposite end of the counter has not occurred to them. Second, the entrance is right next to the register. So, people lined up to order have to keep stepping out of the way so that people entering the restaurant can get in. Finally, in an effort to accommodate as many patrons as possible they've crammed far too many tables and chairs into their dining room. Putting four chairs around a table designed for two people does not make for a comfortable dining experience. I really cannot think of a good reason to ever eat here. Every time I am here it is because someone I am with insists on coming. Perhaps they will someday learn what good food is and stop dragging me here.

The ridiculous commercials made us want to try this place and their huge burgers. The inside is odd, with stuffed gorillas all over the place (still not sure how King Kong, burgers, and Greek food all go together). My husband got the King Kong burger (just as huge as advertised) while I got the chicken gyro plate. The chicken was extremely dry and underseasoned, and the burger was ok. The side salad, pasta, and baklava were average. On the other hand, the fries! I would make a return trip just for the fries. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My description can't do them justice. We did have fun taking silly pictures with the big gorilla statues out front, so there's that.

Since I'm new international student and just been there for weeks. It's hard to say more since I'd just tried American food for 1 or 2 times. The steak was very good. You should try it on Wednesday or Sunday, the meal only 9.99$ with a huge top sirloin and fries. The salad also yum. I will try it again!

Had the Gyro Combo Meal which is Monday's Special. Comes with fries and a small drink. Food is good. Gyro and fries were tasty. Fries are nice and crispy with a bit of seasoning. Service is quick. You order and pick up at the counter. There are daily specials to try as well. Only drawback is that the gyro, fries and small drink cost 11 dollars. Thought it was just a bit expensive for what was received with respect to portion size. Quality was good though. Would eat here again.

This place is probably one of the better fast food experiences you'll have in town, albeit it on the slightly pricier side. I would give it a better score if Yelp was a fast food reviewing website, but alas! Don't let this stop you from trying this bizarre and awesome Omaha staple. They have such an odd selection there and they are not always on their game with all of it, but it is really close to work and I've only been burned a few times out of the countless times I've been there so it will always be a regular lunch choice for me given the dearth of worthwhile options in and around Ralston. I would have to say that while their burgers, phillies, steaks and gyros are pretty dang good, I would suggest to try their greek salad sometime (with any meat you'd like or without) and you will be pleasantly surprised. The vinaigrette on there is pretty incredible and you will get some feta, cucumbers, tomatoes and a few pepperoncinis added in there for good measure. Oh! It also comes with a toasted pita bread to dip into the remainder of the vinaigrette! You can also get a 2lb burger there if you so wish, though If I'm going to burgtown, I always go for the smallest (1/2lb!). The combo of that along with a heaping pile of deliciously crunchy fries usually makes my stomach feel as if it is going to rupture...in a good way... If you dine in, prepare to be confused by the bizarre stuffed gorilla rock band that is set up at the end of the dining room. It is so awesome.

My family and I make stops to king kong about every 4-6 weeks. If you are hungry this is the plave to go. There dishes are very large and often times have to take home left-overs. They make good fried and are relatively quick. However, you are not going to King Kong for the qulaity of their hamburgers, steak or Greek food. As there are other Greek establishments that are far and away better than king Kong. The greek salads are big but often times I will get lettuce, feta and olives without any tomatoes or Onions. Remember quantity not quality. The food is OK. There prices have increased over the last few years so the value has declined some. Overall, the food is "just OK, at best" But it it meets a need after spending all day at our kids ball games on our way home when everyone is really hungey and dont want to make something at home.

Customer service could be better but you definitely get your $$$ worth and the fries are the bomb. Love it when we are super hungry for a huge burger.

Every locations service is slightly different, but the steaks are consistently amazing! 72nd and Q is top tier!

The gyro meat was poorly sliced (see picture posted), the tzatziki watery, and the prices outrageous. Next time I'll stick with the tried and true and go to Grecian Gyros in Papillion, or Legacy Gyros in West O.

They had a good burger and gyro. The fries have good seasoning and I would deferentially go again.

I heard that one day someone made the mistake of pronouncing gyros like "jy-ros" when ordering and where promptly swarmed by the staff. After a quick double-powerbomb through a table on the ignorant customer, it was decided to feature the correct pronunciation in their commercials. True story*. It's also true that the burgers here are really big; they earn the King Kong name well. I come here hungry (that's the only way) and always think that THIS will be the day that I go all-out and get the insane quadruple two-pound burger. But remembering that I don't want a heart attack not quite yet, I stick with the single half-pounder. That, plus an order of fries, or more than enough to make me think of skipping dinner (if I visited for lunch) or skipping through lunch the next day (if I visited for dinner). The fries are always hot and crisp, and you get a lot of them. The seasoning for the fries is also very good. The burgers, as I've already said, are huge and very tasty. They also don't skimp on the bacon here; if you order it, you will get plenty on your burger. Like I've said in a past review, I hate spending extra money on bacon and getting a puny piece of limp crud bacon that looks...depressing. Not here. You'll get several chunks of big, healthy, All-Varsity, All-American bacon. The food's not cheap, though. You're looking at 5.99 just for a plain burger. They don't do combos here so the fries and drink are another three or four bucks. Right there you're looking at about 10 bucks a person, or 12-13 if they want bacon, cheese, or other toppings on their burger. Can't give the place more than three stars though because of the service. I understand that it's a family kinda place and most (if not all) the employees are Greek (I think) but it would be really, really, really, really helpful if they would place someone proficient in English on the registers. Every time I have been there they have either messed up my order or someone's order near me in line. I've had to dispute over-charges before, as well. I've seen the entire place come to a grinding halt as the cashier, kitchen staff, and customer attempt to successfully communicate the correct order. Oh well. I tend to forget when I (eventually) get my order of gut-busting and yummy-tummy food. *never happened

Okay! Warning to the feint of heart. Their King Kong burger is really huge, but very delicious. Apparently this place was started by a Greek cook in the 60's decades ago and somehow he got the right to use the King Kong name and silent movie era pictures as his restaurant decor. The fries are a bit on the salty side, and I highly recommend you tell them to ease up on the salt they put on yours. Also, great gyros here.

I went here because I heard that King Kong served up one of Omaha's best burgers and was surprised to find that the menu was packed with Greek dishes. I was tempted to try a gyro and greek salad, but had to stay the course and order the smallest burger on the menu: a hefty half pounder. The patty tasted similar to gyro meat, in terms of the spices and flavor, which made for an atypical burger experience. The burger was good, but I would probably go the feta and baklava route next time. My favorite touch was the extensive collection of ape statues chained to the ground out front. Rockin'.

What comes as a surprise is that the sauce on their gyro's is nothing more than sour cream. It is a generous sized sandwich, but do something to flavor the sauce. The one time I had a hamburger, it looked great, but was a bit on the dry side. I have yet to get an order of French fries with lite or no salt as requested. I will say though that if you go there and there is a heaping fresh pan of lettuce salad, order the greek salad with gyro meat...it is their best offering and enough for 2 people if you wanted to share. . And what is with the cash only deal? They do have an ATM that they own that you can use your debit card in, but then you add another 2 dollars to an already pricey dining experience. The counter help doesn't always appear to understand what you are saying, so it is a crap shoot as to the accuracy of your order. Maybe 11-12 dollar meals at fast food joints is becoming the norm, but it is no bargain here. One thing is for certain though and it is a positive, the food is consistent, not overly good but not bad either, just ordinary.

I went there last night and wanted something semi-healthy. I ordered their grilled chicken salad through the drive thru, which I have gotten before. I asked for dressing on the side because I have learned that they will drench the salad if you don't ask for it on the side. I got it home and it didn't look like any one I ad seen before. The chicken was a greyish/brownish color and it was semi-shredded. In the past it had always been a grilled chicken breast cut into strips. I also received no dressing. After I couldn't clearly identify the meat substance on the salad, I picked it off and ate the bland lettuce, soft tomatos and a few bits of feta and olives that I had just paid $8.99 for....I don't think I will try this again.

This places makes a mean gyro. They also have daily specials, but their best one is a sirloin steak/salad/greek rice served on Sundays for $7.99. Other than the good food, there aren't many frills. The staff are not usually very friendly, but you only interact with them for a short period of time, so who cares? Usually, the dining room is clean and the drive-thru service quick.

I do like their burgers and gyros, but there are so many gray areas that simply can not be overlooked. Quality control is nonexistent here. Sometimes your food is hot and fresh, other times it leaves much to be desired. French fries range anywhere from perfectly cooked with the right amount of seasoning to oversalted mushy crap. I like my burger fresh off the grill with a little char on it, you'll get that here about 25% of the time. Other times they will just pull a precooked patty out of some container where it has been sitting in fat - disgusting. You get plenty of food, not too much to handle but be sure to bring an appetite. Employees are always rude no matter what, so don't even think about customizing an order because they will invariably and purposefully get it wrong. The last thing I must complain about is price. I think the owners might be confused about the location, the prices seem like you are at an airport or ball game. Sorry, but this is the suburbs, and the value is just not there considering the quality of food.
