    I heart Homy Inn :)

Oh, champagne on tap. In theory I love it. In reality, it's a lot of champagne. And the "champagne" part is questionable. Homy Inn offers a variety of flavors of their tap champagne included peach, dry, and sweet. I tried two different flavors and I think it was all pretty sweet, just as an FYI, but the novelty of ordering a pitcher of champagne cannot be denied. Neither can the novelty of this bar in general. A divey place with cool décor, a cooler, local crowd, and free peanuts and popcorn? It's easy to see why so many people enjoy it. And beyond the champagne, they have a pretty decent selection of beers. Pro tip: If you spend over $100 you get a free shirt.

It's easy to feel at home when visiting this old, cozy dive bar in Omaha. Decent beer selection, hard liquor, and they even have champagne on tap! Like something of a cross between a log cabin and a double-wide mobile home, the Homy Inn is not a large (and certainly not fancy) drinking establishment. No room for pool tables or darts here, but they do have a Golden Tee machine and a claw game stocked with adult goodies (like a breast milk mug). The walls are covered with old beer cans, Jim Beam bottles, and lacquered newspaper articles from decades past-- all of which is nicotine stained and sporting a fine layer of dust. Tables and chairs are crowded into the available floor space almost as an afterthought, which can make it difficult to maneuver around when the place is busy. Part of the fun, I guess :-) Curious about why this 'homey' establishment would be called the "Homy Inn", I looked it up on their website: "Originally named "The Homey Inn," the name was shortened to "Homy" after all the letters wouldn't fit on the original sign, but the name still serves its purpose of exuding a warm, homey feeling." Seems like a perfect explanation to me!

It was nice having a low key bar with a good environment in Omaha. The champagne on tap was tasty and there were a lot of craft beer selections. We went here on a Friday during happy hour and they brought in free pizza from across the street.

Good ol Homy! I am not from here but this has become the go to spot anytime family comes i in town to visit. I have since been there three times and always come in and leave with a smile on my face. Great beer selection, best peach champagne on tap, and always good shot specials! My cousin and I love getting the peanuts in a dog bowl for less than a buck, and free popcorn, we have even left with shirts a couple of the times (which turn out to be great conversation pieces when worn!). My favorite part of Homy is that it reminds me a bit of my grandma's bar she used to own, dark cozy and full of life. Love that sgt. Peffers across the street will hand deliver delicious italian food straight to your table. Will be returning again very soon!

Asti, champagne, and Woodchuck on tap! This place was a little sketchy and a very diverse crowd when I went late on a Saturday night. I didn't mind it, it was just anicent looking. Golf Tee and music videos that you can play.

On dive bars 5 stars plus. Multiple champagnes on tap, pickles & peanuts. Perfecto neighborhood dive. Order Sgt pheffers for dinner for a perfect night.

This should be the first and last place you visit in Omaha. Fantastic ambiance, good beer list, crappy-but-somehow-good champagne on tap, great greasy bar food (Sergeant Peffer's delivers and yes you should order more garlic bread than you think you can eat), and a great diverse crowd of people. Excellent place to hang out for any occasion.

Champagne on tap? What could go wrong? This fantastic little dive bar has the pre-requisite amount of dust covered random wall artifacts, including a nod to beer can history. It's small enough that you are likely to be stuck standing with the other sardines, but quaint enough that you won't mind. Definitely worth a visit, and a pitcher of champagne.

A dive with history! what else could you ask for. Rumored that the Hef (Hugh Heffner) visited from the drunk guy on a stool there, this one room, memorabilia filled piece of work has much to offer. Pull up a chair, talk to the locals, or grab some champagne or a bottled craft beer while trying to dig a dildo out of the adult bear claw arcade game. I rate it a must see on a bar crawl through Omaha but not sure if I'm up for the cramped atmosphere on a daily basis so a 4...

The Homy is a tiny, dive bar that welcomes all kinds and serves champagne on tap. You can't go wrong if you're looking for a place to chat with friends. No pool table, shuffle board, so come looking to enjoy company.

Been to this place a million times several years ago. Typical dive bar. Free popcorn and peanuts served in a dog bowl. Champagne on tap but it does not taste like champagne. No fizz/carbonation. Went on a week night. Old lady bartender was one of the grouchiest people I'd ever met. Horrible service and I even tipped well (twice!) in hopes she would treat me with a little decency considering I was a paying customer. Nope, didn't work. She made me feel like I was bothering her by ordering drinks and at one point she even told me to hurry up as it took me about a millisecond to decide what beer I wanted. Drinks, eh. Popcorn is popcorn. Won't be back. Only two good things about the night was that I left the homy and headed over to sgt peffers for a beer, and dinner.

Probably Omaha's most famous dive bar. And for good reason. When everyone hears about their champagne on tap, they've got to go and try it. Indeed, this bar is very homy, decorated with old beer cans and -- if you're there early enough to grab a booth -- Omaha, sports and Beatles memorabilia From the old time day drinking regulars to the college kids and out-of-towners on the weekends, the staff is nice and plenty used to dealing with pretty much any crowd. Besides their signature champagne, "The Homy" offers plenty of nice craft beers on tap, including locals, in addition to your typical cocktails. As a tiny bar, this place gets crowded at night and especially during the weekends. It even gets overrun with frat boy types fairly often. Those last two points are atypical of a true dive, which is probably a testament to the Homy's enduring local legacy. One last note: I went here to watch the Huskers play Michigan last year (2012). It was a day game and the place was practically empty. I recommend this place for a nice, laid back game day atmosphere in contrast to the melee that's expected at your dedicated sports bar.

This is where the night went sideways and the next day I felt like ish. I have to say though, the charm and champ on draft was so worth it. The dog bowls of nuts and pretty tame crowd made the night all the more fun! Go here, you may regret it the next day but it will be a great time!

  • Mandy L.

Repeating what the others have said: Champagne on tap!??! Yes, please. 3 flavors at that. In addition to their famous champagne on tap -- They also have a hell of a beer selection (both draft and bottled). I was surprised to see San Diego local brewery beer sold here as well! It's certainly a dive bar feel, but I didn't feel like it was typical dive bar clientele - More like the place you go to after you went to the other place you went to.

HOMY INN! You are amazing. Have you ever in your life been to a bar with champagne ON TAP? NO?! Then you need to come to the Homy Inn. They had three varieties tonight- sweet, dry and STRAWBERRY. I had two glasses of the latter with no shame; they were out of dry. On a random Tuesday night, the atmosphere was relaxed. The walls are covered floor-to-ceiling with various ancient memorabilia and assorted nostalgic crap. There are two booths: Beatles and Elvis. We chose Elvis. They played nonstop 90s music all night and they have a machine that spits out pull-tab cards so you can gamble while you sip cheap champagne. It's basically amazing, and totally unique- I would go back in a heartbeat.

  • Christine S.

They have champagne on tap, which is awesome but the bar and seating area is very cramped. Tables are a premium and a group of college students playing card against humanity probably already took all the chairs. At least that is what is seemed like on a Saturday night. Good beer selection, and did I mention they have champagne on tap? Good dive bar to visit, but not the easiest place to plan meeting up with a group of friends because of the lack of space.

  • Jen H.

Champagne on tap. Warm peanuts in dog dishes. Ummm...yes please? This is by far my favorite dive bar in Omaha -- and we have a lot of pretty great dive bars. Yes, it's cramped quarters and the clientele can vary from a bunch of regulars to co-workers just off the clock to a bus full of bachelorette party-goers. But no matter who else is in that dark little room with you, you can guarantee they're having a good time. If you want to lose track of time with a group of friends -- or hell, by yourself even -- give the Homy a chance. You won't be disappointed. Expert tip: order a pizza from Sgt. Peffers. It's some of the best pizza in town, they deliver right to the Homy, and, most importantly, it will help soak up some of that pitcher of champagne you just downed.

Champagne on tap, super friendly and attentive staff, and a great dive bar feel. Fun place for groups with a good music mix.

This is the sort of place you describe to friends when you want them to know what Omaha is like and a place they should come visit. There is strawberry champagne on tap! They give out popcorn! Your feet kinda stick to the floor! There are sex toys in the game machine! Ok the sex toys don't totally relate but you get the picture. Its divey, weird, unique, and very fun.

What a fun little place this bar is! Totally kickin'! Of course, the first drink I ordered was the champagne on tap, but now there is a new option: add a shot of flavored booze for 2 bucks more! They had Alize and X-rated and some other choices that I don't remember...I wonder why...I also had a delicious root beer flavored drink. The old school look to this place makes it an awesome little hang out. I loved the "garage" feeling, like you had walked into someone's hobby shop. When we arrived it was pumpin'...then we got our hands on the juke box and the place cleared out. It was cool tho - more room to dance :-) For a Sunday night this was one hoppin' joint! I had to be dragged out because I didn't want to leave :-) While the bathrooms are small and the furniture is old The Homy Inn is an excellent watering hole to toss back a few or twelve!

  • Kathleen R.

I cannot gush enough about the Homy Inn. This divey, dark bar is packed with memorabilia, rad people and amazing offerings. I have never in my life been to a bar with champagne on tap - need I say more? On a random Thursday night it was jam packed with people playing cribbage and random other games. We sat in the Beatles booth and marveled at their collection of Beatles memorabilia while sharing our dry champagne. The bathrooms are single stall iterations you'd expect at such a place, small and a little gross but usable! And if you need your peanut fix you'll get a double dog dish full of em with the 'water' side open to put your shells. If you are EVER in Omaha go go go! You will not regret your decision but missing such a wondrous bar is fool-hearty indeed.

    (5)
  • Rob S.

Super fun place, one of my favorites. Prices good, plenty to choose from and warm nuts what else do you need. Been around forever and doesn't get old. Check it out!

  • Ginger M.

A good thing to do in Omaha is to visit this establishment. I don't mean only visit but really experience it. Show up early in the evening, take a seat at the bar and get ready to smile when you discover CHAMPAGNE on tap. That is noteworthy, people. Worthy of spending your entire evening studying the years of memorabilia on the walls, worthy of bellying up to the jukebox to play endless 90's music and just plain worthy!

  • Brenda D.

My fave new old bar. Perfect for me - drove from Lincioln and will become regulars. Loved the strawberry and apple champagnes. Slow crowd after opening on Sunday (noon) and it suited us fine. Football, peanuts, popcorn, champagne topped off bt a holiday gingerbread shot - what could be better on a snowy Sunday afternoon in Nebraska??

  • Nicholas M.

Complete dive bar! Which l like sometimes. Champagne on tap. (Ill let you go back and re read that last sentence again...go a head....I'll wait...) ok so yes champagne on tap I was fascinated by it. Do not expect Dom Perignon however, but all in all good staff average location and average venue.

  • Lindy O.

I love champagne, so this place having champagne on tap was an instant draw. I will absolutely be coming back to this place! I had the peach champagne, for example, and it was tasty. Also, the ambience is intriguing. The one time I have been there it had an eclectic group of what I can only guess were regulars. A refreshingly interesting place in a city of new and modern and trendy bars.

    (5)
  • Sarah G.

I like the homy but since my husband isn't a fan we don't really go there. That being said, it's kind of hit or miss. Usually I like the crowd, but you could end up there on the night of a bachelor/bachelorette/party bus night and that's not quite as fun. Regardless, it's without a doubt more enjoyable since the smoking ban went into effect. Now, if you get bored people-watching you can spend hours looking at all the random stuff glued to the walls.

    (4)
  • Christine B.

Small, dark, smelling faintly of spilled beer and the dust-film of the ages, it's easy to stop in for a beer and end up staying way past your bedtime. Don't let the diveyness fool you. They've got a decent beer selection and after a couple of big beers you can have a pizza from Sgt. Pfeff's delivered (via delivery boy walking across the street). Or if you'd rather, snack on some peanuts in a dog bowl or oversalted popcorn in a basket. An interesting mix of clientele - young, old and everywhere in between - you'll totally fit in.

  • Rachael L.

I love dive bars, and this place is full of college memories for me, I just don't know how much better it can get! I might be biased on this place, but definately go and have some champagne or one of their many beers.

    (5)
  • Andrea T.

Oh, I love my Homy Inn! One of my favorite dives I could spend hours looking at all the stuff on the wall and ceiling. Where else can you get champagne on tap? Where? Whenever I go, I like to order pizza delivered across the street from Sgt Peffers.

    (4)
  • Ben K.

Pros: Champagne on tap! Cons: Your standard dive bar There is absolutely nothing special about Homy Inn. It's your average dive bar, but one thing does redeem it: champagne on tap! That's what makes this place cool, as well as the stuff all over the walls and ceiling. Not a bad spot if you want to try something a little different, but not too pretentious.

    (3)
  • Erienne W.

This place smells awful, has sticky tables and dirty bathrooms but all that makes it a perfect dive bar. The champagne flows like water and I dare you not to make a new friend here :)

    (5)
  • Mark J.

A neighborhood dive bar, unique with wall-to-wall character, literally. You have to try the Moscow Mule. A vodka and ginger beer drink served in a copper cup. Oh, and they serve champagne from the tap.

    (5)
  • Phil V.

Just about the best dive bar you can ask for. Huge fan.

What more can I add? Nestled on Saddle Creek, The Homy Inn, on its best nights, borders on perfection. Why? 1) I'd guess it has the most beers on tap per square foot of any establishment in Omaha. And they aren't afraid to get a little funky. 2) The bric-a-brac covering every square inch of the barroom (ceiling, walls, table, the passed-out guy at the bar) is enough to stir nostalgia in even the crustiest of souls. There are old presidential and Omaha campaign buttons, long-forgotten restaurant menus, decades-old promotional items from alcohol and soft-drink brands that have (and have not) survived the test of time. 3) Champagne on tap. Better not let the wife learn of this, otherwise it'll be me and the kiddos, showing up nightly to carry her home over our shoulders. 4) A scale that is accessable and reminds us that not all things great come in large packages. This place is cozy and intimate. I agree with the reviewers that recommend The Homy on sleepy weeknights. The greatest compliment one could pay to The Homy is that it will never be replicated. O sancta simplicitas!

    (5)
  • Scott M.

To me Homy Inn is the perfect dive bar, and I make sure to visit any time I am in Omaha. The regulars are a friendly bunch and the bartenders I've had so far are awesome. The antique beer collectibles everywhere create a great ambiance. And you can't beat having champagne on tap! The first time I visited it was because I'd heard those rumors, but I still didn't believe it until I saw it with my own eyes.

    (5)
  • Jen H.

I like the Homy, I really, really do! Drinks are reasonable, and they have a great selection - deceiving considering the small space. Service is great, the bartenders and waitresses are friendly and fast. Love the fact that all types pull through the Homy - makes for awesome people watching! Definitely a chill place go for a few drinks. Or more.

My man in Omaha, Ryan, took me to this bar. How did he lure me to such a dive? He said just three words: "champagne on tap." I was actually in the car, seatbelt buckled, dorky sunglasses on, before he had finished enunciating the "p" in "tap." And, honestly, when you go to a bar that has champagne on tap (and for about $15 a pitcher), there's really no question about what you're going to be drinking. Pleasant surprise: the champagne was actually decent. Fruity, bubbly (despite being served in an acrylic pitcher), etc. Drinking it out of a pint glass probably didn't do it any favors, but you can't always chose these things. One wall is completely covered with menus from...oh...1922. Stapled to the wall. Neat to flip through. Not so neat: the amazing amounts of baked-in nicotine tinting everything lung-butter-yellow. The wall o' menus at Homy Inn is probably the most persuasive case you could make for why you shouldn't smoke. "See kids, look at how brittle and disgusting these menu pages are. And these are made out of trees, whereas your little pink lungs are made of flesh. Yucky, huh?" I wish I could remember more about the place, but the champagne on tap is kinda a twofer to your memory: first, it's so awesome that, unless you run into David Hassellhoff or Macho Man Randy Savage at the bar, the champagne on tap is pretty much going to blot out your other memories; second, once you split a pitcher of champagne with one other person, the champagne is pretty much going to blot out your other memories. Like, of the rest of the night. P.S.: Despite the sign out front, I saw absolutely no homies there. Some honkeys, though.

    (5)
  • Sarah B.

Ah the Homy. Homy, even though you sometimes smell like wet dog and the smoke is so heavy I feel like my lungs are incinerating on contact, I love you. You are the dive to end all dives. You have tobacco stained walls, champagne on tap, peanuts served in dog bowls, and all manner of crap lining the walls and ceilings. You have business men who dont want to go home to their wives, hipster kids who are too cool to care, semi-famous musicians, drunk college kids and 30 somethings just trying to get their drink on. You are the bar in the neighborhood that I always want to go to because all the other bars are full of douches. Thanks Homy.

    (3)
  • David A.

Homage to Homy If there is a nuclear attack on Omaha, the Homy Inn will be left standing. The champagne on tap will still be pouring. And some regulars will still be playing the golf game in the corner. This is a great bar to escape from work, life, and most of all cleanliness. This is an excellent location if you want to be engrossed with your party and have an affinity to inexpensive drinks. The Homy has a great happy hour and eating peanuts from a dog bowl while sharing a $5 pitcher seems too good to be true. This may not be your cup of tea if you're looking to people watch, be seen, or exit the bar in the same condition that you arrived. If you have not been to the Homy before, I recommend trying it out after a long day at the office, classes, or work site. **Tip: don't play Conor's music on the jukebox.

    (5)
  • Mitch L.

The Homy is about as a dive as it can get on the inside. Complete with a tar-stained ceiling from the days smoking was allowed in bars around Omaha. People come for the champagne and moscato on-tap. The beer selection is pretty good, but I wish they would rotate in some kegs from lesser known breweries. They are also good about letting you order in outside food to eat.

    (4)
  • Ryan t.

Are you looking for a bar with good on tap beer selection, reasonable drink prices, and a refreshing lack of people who use words like vibe and phrases like "outside the box"? Let me introduce you to your new favorite bar. Go for Big Ass Beer Night and stay for a giant dose of peanuts served up in a dog bowl for a $1. The Homy Inn is not a proud sponsor of the American Lung Association, so if you don't like smoke, move along. They have two different kinds of champagne on tap as well, which I'm sure you'll find compliments the overall sophistication.

    (4)
  • Nick B.

Always has a great selection of beers. Cannot go wrong with hot nuts and salty popcorn. Always a good game of golden tee or bags or silverstrike bowling for an arcade game.

    (5)
  • Abby H.

Every time I go in here, I get mesmerized by the crap on the ceiling. I mean, it's just a ridiculous amount of quirky pictures. Besides it's great entertainment when you're stuck with a crowd of douche bags. So, if you have to hang out with a crowd of DBs, I would recommend bringing them to Homy Inn because they will always be in awe of the veneer of Conor Oberst in the boozy, cheap champagne yellow lighting. Then you can just transfix yourself to the ceiling, or maybe one of the toothless regulars. It's awesome.

    (4)
  • Jonathan A.

My dad actually introduced me to this bar, which I think is pretty cool. Popular among young and old alike. A great dive bar with some character and good clientelle. Stuff to look at on the walls, decent beer on tap.

    (4)
  • Anthony K.

The Homy has something for everyone - great beer selection and prices, good tv, rarely used Golden Tee machine, friendly bartenders, warm peanuts served in a dog bowl, and great italian delivered from Sgt Peffers across the street. And it pulls all of this off with absolutely no scene, which is the best part about it.

    (5)
  • Friedrich N.

Shiite Suni! This place is top 10 in Omaha.

    Smoking ban has helped.

  • jane f.

Never in a million years did I ever think I would try champagne on tap, but when you are at the Homy - you have to at least try it. I have to say for what it was it was not that bad. I was there on a Saturday night and it was a good mix of 30 somethings, college students and others. It was packed and a little loud but what do you expect from a dive bar. The decor is fun to look at with everything [plastered on the walls and ceilings. Even though I went there after the smoking ban had started, I still reeked of cigarettes when I left. I will definitely be back for some more champagne on tap!

    (4)
  • Daniel K.

I heard this was the "cool place to be" in Omaha, perhaps so, it was more stange and unwelcoming than "cool", they did have champange on tap and peanuts served in a dog bowl, which was pretty kitchy. Otherwise it was a bunch of drunk dudes trying to get laid, same as any other bar.

    (3)
  • Joel T.

Watch out for flying peanut shells! The champagne on tap is a nice "touch of class" with a fluffy sweet taste that lets you say you've had champagne on tap. The beer selection is pretty decent for a mid-sized bar. Sure, plenty of hipsters stop in, but it's still primarily a working-class joint, so we usually see a good mix, hear a nice combo of indie and southern fried rock on the jukebox.

    (4)
  • Rosalina R.

Yes they have champagne (sparkling wine) on tap- but don't let the allure trap you- cuz it's not that good- the bar itself is crowded yet fun- the vibe really did feel like a Homy / Cozy Inn...

    (3)
  • slayerela b.

I really like eating peanuts but not from dog bowls. Get a whiskey sour at Homy Inn and put some Pixies on the jukebox. No, actually, don't put Pixies on the jukebox because everyone else will, anyway, and you'll end up hearing the same song over and over all night. The champagne on tap is a cool little gimmick, but it tastes like fizzy apple juice and I have no reason to believe that's not actually what it is. This was the first bar I ever went to, when I was 17 or 18. They have a Tuaca machine and it's where the Brothers' crowd goes on Sundays since Tray and Lelaya need to rest on the holy day.

    (4)
  • Matthew B.

Great vibe, nice bartenders (esp. Jenn who is quick, friendly and pours a mean cocktail) and cheap (or free) snacks...peanuts are a buck, popcorn is free. Pitchers of domestic are like seven dollars and they have Big Ass Beer Night, which is 22 oz. glasses of beer for $3.25. The crowds get overwhelming big and awful on the weekends, though, so save this one for Sun-Thurs and AVOID on Sat-Sun.

    (4)
  • David K.

You have to go to this bar. Champagne on tap. I'm not kidding. The decor of newspaper-lined walls, old beer cans and signs is a little contrived, but this is a great place to meet with a group of friends. Peanuts are creatively served in a dog dish with two partitions: the second one is for the peanut shells which, thank god, they don't encourage people to throw on the floor.
