Amazing food, price & portion! Just great homemade food and family run. No need for new age technology; simplify life with good food and service. Always have great breakfast & lunch specials! Try the Gert Potatoes (not on menu) - the beautiful marriage of the delicious homefries, veggies and then decorated with real cheddar cheese. Biscuits & Gravy are made with REAL, homemade sausage gravy (not just sausage flavored) and homemade biscuits! All the best in breakfast basics here!

The road repair was a nightmare getting there. But once inside the service and food were great.

I have driven by this place pretty much every day for a decade now and always thought "I should try that someday". I live two blocks from Leo's and a few more from Joe's Cafe and so the need never really arose. This past weekend I did finally decide to try it. I walk in and it is pretty old looking (good!), kind of dirty (good!) has that old cafe smell (kind of like Cecil's in Dundee back in the day) good!. I am excited! Waitress takes my order-not all that friendly-but I am OK with that in a place like this. I order the biscuits and gravy and hash-browns as that is the test of a breakfast cafe. My coffee is given to me...standard watered down coffee...which is to be expected. Then she puts this bottle of ketchup in front of me that looks like it is from the 70's, is called Red Gold or something like that, and is beat to hell. I look for an expiration date and cannot find it. I am a fan of worn out eateries, but this was too much of a risk for me and my hash-browns would have to be eaten nude. The food came out and looked pretty decent. The hash-browns were pretty good. The biscuits and gravy were the worst I have ever had. The biscuits were dry as can be and the gravy was not going to solve that issue. The gravy tasted kind of rotten and bitter if that is even possible. I could not finish it and that never happens. I asked for my ticket and was barked at "you are not going to finish?". I said I was not and did not elaborate why...I just wanted to get out. Waitress gave me a pretty crusty look and I was on my way. If you are visiting from out of town and looking for diners or cafes....head up the street a few miles to Joe's or Leo's. You won't regret it.

This is a meh restaurant. Before you read this review, go and read the others (there are 7 as of this writing). The five star reviews use phrases like "nothing special" and "nothing fancy." They say that because: 1) the place does not take credit or debit cards, but will point you at an ATM at the gas station across the street; 2) the place is a dive; and 3) it has big, cheap portions of blah food. Hell, even the three-star guy says his food tasted spoiled! Standards, people! Of those, #3 is the reason to go. It will fill you up. That doesn't make it good. Adding cheese, butter and bacon to everything doesn't actually make it "homestyle" - my grandmother (like many of yours, I'm sure) was an artist with butter and fat, but the artistry was in the cook, not her ingredients. The same is true here. We had eggs, pancakes, and chicken fried steak. All bland. Yup, the ingredients were real, including real sausage in the gravy. Still bland. I only have so many years to live, if I'm going to shave some off the back end, I'd rather do it with a smile, wouldn't you? That's for the food. As for the ambience, as others have said, it's a family run place with regulars. Your mileage may vary. For us, we got the hairy eyeball from the creep at the counter for walking in during one of his stories, and were shunted by the waitstaff to the furthest corner away from the regular crowd, by ourselves. You need to ask yourself if you're the type to fit in with the kind of crowd that frequents a place like this. If you think Ol' Murderin' Hank and Johnny One Eye won't take a shining to you, and you want some decent food for your caloric buck, go somewhere else.

If you are looking for a basic old fashioned diner. This is it. Basic menu with nothing to unusual and a old truck stop interior. Even has it regulars in telling stories and drinking coffee. Prices are good ($6.99 for two eggs, 2 bacon, 2 toast, hash browns, 1 biscuit with gravy).

Cleanliness 3 Service 4 Food 3 Likelihood 2 Environmentally Friendly 4 OVERALL SCORE 3.2 The three of us met today for breakfast and wanted to try a local place, so here we are. It has been 20 years since I ate here. A lot has changed. The service was incredible, she did a great job, attentive with refills and clearing away dirty dishes. Thank you! Food was ok. I sent my ham and cheese omelette back as it tasted as if something was spoiled in it. Not sure what. Portions were not what I remembered and were considerably smaller than what I would expect. I get larger portions at the 11Worth, Denny's, the Radial or Jimmy's Eggs. The mens restroom was not clean and when you washed your hands the water went from the sink onto the floor. My pants got wet. Kinda not a fan of that. As we were paying the bill I watched as plate after plate of food was microwaved. THAT is not ok, there is no need for a microwave in a commercial kitchen. A note to all they don't take any plastic, cash or check only. (Square Up is a great option for a place like this. I am sure glad I had some cash on me!)

I used to work here when I was a kid, I always liked the atmosphere, kinda old-school and truck stop-y, dark and dingy kinda, but in a good way, makes you feel like you're in the 50's, in an old snuff film or something. Food is good, & real cheap. Breakfast and lunch only. Neat little hole-in-the-wall. They don't even know they're cool, nor do I get the feeling they'd care~

New age technology...... credit card machine needed!!! Service was great until i went to pay. The girl at the register seemed to hate telling people that they don't except cards and that there was a ATM next door that i could use to withdrawal money. Its 2012 not 1957 (the first credit card made was in 1958). Its been a while sense iv been here, but the food is good and acceptable. Menu i think could have more items. I think they would do better business if it had more choices.

My husband and I had breakfast this morning at Homestyle Café at 8807 Maple St in Omaha. He had Steak and Eggs. His opinion was the orange juice was the best thing. And that wasn't saying much. His steak was more than likely "nuked", then over cooked. He ordered it medium and it came out dry and well done. The dogs only ate it because they inhale without chewing or tasting. I had the veggie omelet, which was substandard. Hashbrowns were just okay. He had white toast, I had raisin, again just ok. They seemed they could care less whether we were there or not and did not once ask us how it was. My favorite thing was their after dinner mints that were homemade from Valentines Day. I wish I'd have grabbed 2!

If you are looking for an 'old fashioned' cafe - this is the place!! I moved into this area recently and noticed this spot - tried it out for breakfast yesterday and went back for lunch today! Nothing fancy, the menu is one page - one side is breakfast and one side is lunch. The food is just plain GOOD. I had French toast, bacon, scrambled eggs for breakfast and a cheeseburger and onion rings on my lunch visit. Great food and great prices. Friendly people, great service. Love it!

Love this place for breakfast! Nothing spectacular about it, just fresh, tasty, diner food here. Servers are all really personable. Prices are really reasonable, and the portions are good. I live in the area, and I kind of think of this as a Radial cafe light. Not as good of food, but the clientele is very similar.
