Hiro 88 has the best happy hour sushi menu in Omaha! Great selection, delicious cocktails, relaxing environment and wonderful staff. My friends and I go at least twice a month!

I almost gave Hiro 88 three stars, but couldn't do it. I've eaten sashimi at many, many restaurants. I had high hopes, but the sashimi tonight was not great. Service was fantastic. The salad with carrot ginger dressing was very good. I could have licked the bowl. When the sashimi arrived, the waiter introduced the fish, which I appreciated. Tonight's combo included striped sea bass, tuna, salmon, halibut and octopus. The highlight was the octopus. Octopus is chewy by nature, but the flavor overshadowed that fact and each piece was a delight. None of the rest of the fish wowed me. None melted in my mouth. The deep red tuna was dense, as usual, and not great. I will say this cut of tuna is never exceptional, so I wasn't surprised. The halibut didn't have much flavor, the salmon didn't have the mouthfeel I expect. I had high hopes for the striped sea bass, but again, it was not outstanding in any way. Add to that the price for 14 pieces, $27, and it was a disappointment. I've paid less for phenomenal sashimi in San Francisco.

Not really a sushi guy BUT! The rolls I've tried were amazing. I would give it 5 stars BUT again I'm not a sushi guy

Loved it! Super tasty. Friendly staff. First time I ever ate raw fish and I loved it. They have an awesome happy hour and great mixed drinks. I will definitely go back. Yummmm!

Our favorite place for sushi, we tend to go on Sundays for the 1/2 price all day menu. We get the spicy edamame and Korean short ribs for apps, and 10 different rolls for supper, always good food and great service. And if you have room for dessert their chocolate cake is wonderful!

This place is busy! The staff is helpful and friendly, very upbeat. Sushi was great, very large portions. 3 rolls for 2 people with lots of leftovers. The decoration is beautiful. I've heard the happy hours are great. Lots of parking,

All day happy hour is a good thing on Sundays. There are various bento boxes that you can do for lunch mixing sushi with various other Japanese entrees (tempura, teriyaki beef or chicken) etc, or just sushi and apps all day long. I have also tried some of the more expensive entrees for dinner on various other occasions and they are pretty good too. Other than Sushi Japan (my pick for authentic and delicious sushi in Omaha), Blue and Hiro are my favorite budget-yet-quality spots in Omaha, especially during the happy hour periods. The ambiance is nice and the staff is usually friendly. On our last visit, I was a little disappointed with the authenticity of the teriyaki beef and chicken- it was sort of cardboard-ish and I didnt really like the flavor. I still enojyed the sushi and the gyoza as well as the tempura. Overall, a great place to eat sushi, although I would say not the most authentic Japanese food I have tried. Again, it's Omaha so the fact that they're even trying is a huge plus.

Two words, Happy Hour! Sunday is all day happy hour and that's a good thing because our bill would have been an obscene amount of money. Bailey was our waitstaff, she was kind and attentive without being hovering. You know what I mean when it comes to up-scale restaurants. The decor was dark wood and dim lighting. I would have liked it to be a little brighter in the dinning room as it was difficult to see the menu. There were all sorts of people taking full advantage of the happy hour pricing. The menu has something for everyone, even if you are not into raw fish. It wasn't the best sushi in the world, that is reserved for the Hachinohe Fish Market in Japan but it was quite tasty and we will go back again. What I liked most about this place was how Bailey was friendly and approachable in what is usually a snooty place. I call it a snooty place due to the signage outside the front door about appropriate dress. 1 soda 3 apps 6 rolls 4 pieces of nigiri Total before tip $68.88 Go on a Sunday for dinner and bring friends, it's the best way to get a taste of everything.

Hiro is my favorite sushi spot in Omaha. The Las Vegas roll is my fav and Sami is the best server. Ask for him & you can thank me later :)

I don't understand how this place has so many positive reviews. Sorry but that farm raised salmon they're serving doesn't constitute as sushi in my world . Most of the food being served is either fried and/or covered in thick, goopy sauces. My sashimi plate was incredibly chewy. It was chewy due to the fact that my white tuna had a visible sinew (a piece of tough fibrous tissue). It's unacceptable to serve fish with sinew at a sushi restaurant. The sushi rolls were poorly wrapped. If you are into rolls with a lot of sauce and tempura in it to mask the fish, then this is the place for you! Sushi should not sit heavy in your stomach. It should be light, delicate, artful and subtle.

The best sushi rolls and Chinese food I've had in years! If you are in Omaha, you must try this place. The Yin Family is so gracious and welcoming!

I used to frequent this location but I hadn't been here for dinner in several years. We stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night a few weeks ago. It was very busy but they take (and more importantly, honor) reservations and we were able to get right in. My sister and I both ordered a drink to start off our meal. I don't remember what specifically I ordered, but it was a seasonal drink made with apple cider and vodka. The drink was way too strong, but our waiter happily brought me extra apple cider to dilute the alcohol and it was pretty good after that. I also tried my sister's drink and it was good. For an appetizer we ordered the crab rangoons. They were good, but not great, and the portions were pretty small. All entrees are served with soup or salad and they have a signature carrot-ginger dressing which I LOVE. For my meal I ordered the Vegetable Tempura Dinner. It used to be my favorite entree here but I was a little disappointed by it this time (granted it could have just been an off night). They do have an awesome variety of vegetables in this dish but the flavor was a little lacking. My sister ordered the Miso Glazed Chilean Sea Bass. It was a small portion but she said it was one of the best dishes she had ever had (I tried it and it was exceptional). The atmosphere is very nice. This place is very popular so the restaurant is pretty crowded and loud. We arrived early for our reservation and were unable to get a drink at the bar because it was so crowded (being popular is usually a good sign, though). The food here is sort of pricey and based on my recent visit I am not sure all the entrees are worth the cost (although the Chilean Sea Bass definitely was). I have been here for happy hour several times and the food has been pretty good and they have many reasonably priced options. I will definitely be back for happy hour but I will probably be saving dinner visits for special occasions.

The atmosphere is cool and the server was very attentive- so two stars there. Reverse Happy Hour was awesome too. Spicy edamame? Great. However the sushi was flavorless and the scallop appetizer was downright nasty- tasted like fish, not scallops. Overall ok but I'll still take Sushi Japan.

Amazing. Simply put. Service, atmosphere, and food are wonderfullllll. Go there, treat yourself!!

Excellent sushi. Our party of seven ordered a few rolls & the salmon & yellow tail (yum)sashimi. The tenderloin roll was interesting, but I prefer raw fish & doubt I'll order it again. I had the braised scallop dinner, which was good. The problem was the service. After we enjoyed sushi, the table was cleared & we were given rice and one of our party received his meal while the rest of us waited. 15 minutes later, one more plate arrived. 10 minutes later the rest of us were served. My food could have been warmer. We all agreed the food was good, but not warm enough & should have arrived all at once. I will give this place another try; the food was good, but the waiter was terrible. No raves tonight.

I LOVE IT~! WOW service + upscale + yummy food + great drinks! This place is HOT. I ordered Margarita on rocks with no salt, but somehow maybe it was because the noisiness, the server brought me Mojito which tasted awesome, so I actually didn't mind, but ordered Tequila with a splash of Sprite on rocks with lemon later, and the server brought me exactly what I wanted. As for sashimi, me and my husband are sushi epicures, the salmon and the surf clams were foogasm quality, plus the crab cake with the salad was pretty impressive. My husband wanted to give me a "Birthday" surprise, but I told the server Amy that it was our Anniversary which was also true, she then brought us a gorgeous and crazily rich chocolate cake... I was so happy, that's why I left a note to her to say THANK YOU and explained it was our celebration night for Birthday/Anniversary/Thanksgiving after my husband got deployed in desert for 5 weeks and 3 days.. What an unforgettable evening at Hiro 88!

Now, I'm not saying that I when I visit my in-laws I secretly hope that we get to go to dinner here. I'm not saying that this place walks the very fine line between modern cuisine with excellent table side manner. Heck, I'm not even going to take credit for introducing my wife's father to the magic of a quail egg on top of tobiko and the man loved it. What I am saying, if I'm saying anything at all, is that this is the premier sushi and Chinese restaurant in Omaha. I have had the good fortune to dine here on several occasions and the service and quality of cuisine has been on point time and time again. Much respect to Sammy and Eric as our 'go-to' servers. They have it down to an absolute science!

Disappointed after reading the reviews on here. The staff was very friendly but the sushi was not. I got a roll that had some crispy tempura on the top. The crispy tempura was stale and cold. The nigiri I got was chewy. Just overall disappointed.

Great location and great service! Not the cheapest place in town but for a special occasion it was well worth it!! I'm excited for a reason to go back! The sushi was fresh and they have a great variety of rolls as well!

This place has a great all day happy hour on Sundays & late night. I like this place. The drinks are stiff, the food is fresh and served at the right temp. They have the best crab rangoon in town, at least that we've had. My problems with this place are the atmosphere & the pretentious & down right snobby staff and the loud music. We circumvent these by always sitting at the bar and always coming in on Sundays, no more late nights for us. The only positive staff experience I've had is with Chris the bartender. He's a good guy, smart, funny, knowledgeable behind the bar - if you don't know what you want, tell him what you like & he'll make you something. He's a young guy, but he's old school good people. Favorite sushi is the rainbow roll and the spicy 2 in 1. Both are really really good.

There is good sushi in Nebraska!! And excellent service. Sammy was wonderful and really made it a relaxing and enjoyable dinner. Great ambiance. Ordered a variety of sushi, soup, salad, sake. All very good.

Would never go back to this location. Went to Hiro 88 on a Saturday night around 5:00 pm, and not only had bad service from our server but also the manager and had to refuse sashimi. Ordered: Crab Rangoon; Firecracker Roll; Las Vegas Roll; Washabi Stinger; Fatty Tuna Sashimi; White Tuna and Kung Pao Chicken. Had to refuse the Fatty Tuna due to the extremely bad flavor, that I couldn't get out of my mouth quick enough. Server couldn't seem to remember anything. Forgot that she delivered the crab Rangoon to our table and asked if we ever received it. Asked twice for a glass for my beer and finally had to go to the bar myself. Not only did we receive a wine glass that had an extremely large chunk of glass missing from it, we also received our sushi on a chipped platter. I'm thinking it's time someone looks at the quality control of their dinner wear. Not sure why they think it's a good idea to have 7 of their servers folding napkins in the dinning room. Thinking this is something that should be done behind the scenes, and really, do you really need 7 employees folding napkins. We were there at 5:00 on a Saturday and were the only ones in the restaurant. We've been to Hiro several times in the past, although it has probably been a year since the last time we were at this location. All of the sushi and even the Kung Pao Chicken was very bland. I had to ask for a chili sauce to give the Kung Pao Chicken any flavor. When we spoke with the Manager regarding the fatty tuna sashimi that had such a bad taste and the bland flavor of the sushi, he seemed too involved in making sure the dinner plates were even on each table to even care and couldn't understand why we were refusing it. From that point on he wouldn't even look at us. When we commented at the front desk about the bad service from the manager the hostesses laughed and nodded their heads. After paying the $115.00 bill and asking the hostesses at the front desk who the owner or general manager was they didn't know, but gave us a business card instead, we ended up heading to Blue Sushi for some excellent sushi and dessert. We will not be back to this location again.

My wife and I have been coming here for years. While I am not a sushi fan, I can say this is her go to spot in Omaha, as well as other members of her family when they want sushi. Myself, I stick to the Chinese side of the menu, and always leave happy. We have come to eat with the just the two of us, as well as with groups up to ten. With a group getting sushi, I have to say the sushi boat presentation is pretty cool. The Miso soup is very good here, and my wife simply raves about their seaweed salad. My go to menu items are fairly standard Chinese fare, Sesame Chicken, or their Yin's Chicken (similar to Sesame Chicken, but with a bit of heat). My entrees have always been consistent, which makes me happy to come back here (or bring take out home).

This is my favorite place to eat sushi in Omaha. The decor is nice and the atmosphere is too. I have found the staff friendly and knowledgeable with the menu. The wasabi stingers are incredible. If you're ready to eat great sushi, this is the place to go. They also have a good Chinese menu for those who aren't ready to eat sushi.

first let me start off with saying the service here is either great or absolutely terrible and the food here is sub-par at best. Normally I go to hiro downtown for lunch and get their bento box, which is fantastic, and i keep trying the hiro on maple for dinner time because it is close to my house. I always have wonderful food and service at the hiro downtown and the past three times i have gone to the hiro on maple I have had a horrible experience and to be honest it has made me not want to go to either one of the locations. A couple of examples of the maple location bad service is my group (there were only four of us) sitting down and not being greeted for almost 10 minutes then after we ordered everything and food came (two of the items we did not order and tried to send back for the correct items but were delivered by someone who didn't speak that great of english) our server was nowhere to be found for 15 minutes and i checked my watch that was the amount of time it took her to come to our table so we sat there waiting for our food when it was finally delivered it was barely even warm and not great however i think she may have been afraid to tell her manager because no one came to talk to us nor was anything done about it. Done giving the maple location a chance!!!!!!!

Hiro is my Hero... I think this place is the best sushi/Japanese restaurant in town. Is it expensive? Yes, but only because I over order. Compare the sushi to any sushi restaurant in a large city, and you will understand how reasonable it really is priced. While I usually get the sushi, other dishes are just as good. The Mongolian Beef is tender and delicious. The Crab Rangoon is an excellent classic version. I am a huge fan of the sesame dressing for the salad. Finally, I have been to Hiro many times and the staff has always been helpful and friendly.

The problem I always have with sushi places is finding a good one. The first few that I tried in town used copious amounts of MSG in their food, which inevitably led to exhaustion and nap time afterwards and while the food was good I do not enjoy trying to drive home across town trying to fight off the lack of energy caused by the MSG. I loved the difference with Hiro, I never walk out of there feeling tired and the sushi is absolutely amazing. The nicest touch of the restaurant though I think is the restrooms, not only are they clean but they have a very unique design to them that makes it almost worth it just to visit Hiro to use their restrooms. The restaurant itself is always clean and the waitstaff are always polite and attentive, as well as knowledgeable. I have taken newbies to the world of sushi there several times and have always been able to get help finding something for them to try for the first time that is easy and will bring them back to the world of sushi that we all love so much. There are no silverware, you are left with a package of chopsticks and soy sauce is served in a small pot at each table, with small dishes for each person to pour some into for their own personal use. Other than the sushi, my absolute favorite dish is the Hiro Roll. This is definitely a must dine at and a great location for small celebrations or just to get out with some friends and enjoy a bite to eat. It is also a relatively cheap restaurant as far as sushi goes, though the bill can add up. Well worth it though.

My husband and I are always debating wether Hiro or Blue is the best sushi in Omaha, I choose Hiro and this is why... 1) The atmosphere at Hiro is much quiter and conducive for a romantic dinner or visiting with friends. 2) Their happy hour offers large discounts off of ALL of their sushi, not just a few rolls like Blue does. 3) I absolutely love their Mai Tai Tini, it is delicious and strong and under $5. The drinks at blue are great, but they usually seem to be on the small side. The service at this location is consistently great, and we have never had to wait to get seated. I have read reviews of the downtown location that it is always super busy during happy hour, but we have never ran into that problem here. Be sure to try the Husker Roll!

  • Jamie B.

Good quality with real sushi chefs and simple, well done sushi. The interior reminds me of some very high end establishments in NYC. The rolls are not overly-Americanized (fried/sauced) aimed toward beer-gutted Midwesterners, rather simple and elegant sans obnoxious amounts of sauces. It's hard to find a place that doesn't cover their rolls in sauces,. especially in NE.

  • Molly S.

I went to lunch there and had 30 minutes. I was in and out in that exact time frame with a great experience and a prompt and kind server. I ordered a glass of wine and peanut butter chicken. Served with a good sized side salad and sticky rice. Soooo good. I saw so many other items I wanted to try that I'm going back tomorrow. I've also been here before with a group of rowdy girl friends and everyone enjoyed their food and experience. I would recommend to friends.

The best sushi in Omaha. I LOVE Hiro! Awesome staff, great atmosphere, A+ for cleanliness. Don't even get me started on their sushi. I'm craving it right now!

I have eaten at Hiro 88 twice now. Once for dinner and once at Lunch this weekend for my Birthday. I'm not big into Sushi so I just stuck with a drink and a dish off of the Chinese part of the menu. I had the Imperial Shrimp and it was fantastic! My boyfriend had the Imperial Chicken and he loved his dish as well. The portions didn't seem all that big at first, but by the time we finished lunch and one drink each, it was just about right. Our waitress was very friendly too. She didn't bother us too much, but made sure we were well taken care of. This will probably become one of my favorite places.

I love Hiro and definitely prefer it over Blue. I've eaten at both Hiro locations in Omaha and recently at the Lincoln location as well. Always great service and of course an excellent menu at all locations. The Hiro Crunch Roll and the Firecracker Roll just might be my favorite items on the menu, but I've truly never had anything here that I DIDN'T like! They also have a full grill menu for those who don't like or are apprehensive to try raw fish. Also the west Omaha/129th St. location offers happy hour pricing on takeout all day on Sundays and during their late night happy hour. Another reason I prefer it over Blue. I get sushi takeout for CHEAP at least once a month from here!

Best sushi in Omaha, this and their downtown location. The typical date night location for my wife and I. Go after 10pm on the weekends for half-price happy hour sushi!

  • Matthew D.

My wife and I like to hit Hiro for happy hour. It's among the best sushi I've had in Omaha. The service is usually good, too. Happy hour is an excellent deal, I definitely suggest checking it out. You can get some great rolls for about $5/piece.

  • Katie W.

Highlight was the salad, as I love carrot ginger dressing. Sushi was kind of expensive, and not worth the price in my opinion. Lots of rice, but not a whole lot of fish. Spicy salmon roll had hardly any spice to it, none that I could taste at least. Overall we just felt underwhelmed by the meal. You're better off at Tokyo downtown or Hutong in La Vista. More fish and flavor for your money.

  • Kelly C.

Just divine. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely. From start to finish a fantastic experience. We ordered the large nigiri plate, the large sashimi plate and several rolls and a few extras like tobiko with quail egg and sea urchin. Every bite was delicious. The sashimi was rolled like little flowers. Beautiful presentation. And huge pieces too. The miso soup was delicate and flavorful. The staff was friendly and informed. I like when everyone at the front desk greets you with smiles and laughter and makes you feel like they've been waiting for you to arrive so the party can begin. They do that here. Our waitress gave info on items not on the menu and when I asked about a specific dish she complimented me on my knowledge of Japanese food, commented that it was a traditional dish and recommended where I might find it in Omaha. I don't know that much but she made me feel great. We spent about $160 for 3. We didn't have alcohol. Just yummy green tea with toasted barley. ( gen maichai). When we left, same group asked if we were happy smiles and jokes and please come back soon. Oh yes indeed I will!

LOVE this place! I love that it has both sushi & Chinese entrees to order. If you want some spice in your life, try the cinco de mayo roll. & the Miltons chicken is my favorite meal here!

The whole time I was in Omaha, I wanted to try Omahan Chinese food (I love Americanized Chinese food). But was surprised by the following facts when I went into Hiro's. Bombshell #1: You can order Chinese food at... a sushi restaurant. I had the Milton's Chicken and it was a good stir-fry containing chicken breast, red bell peppers, napa cabbage, asparagus, and shiitake mushrooms. Bombshell #2: A classy ambiance Asian restaurant that's not P.F. Chang's? That exists? (Yes, yes. P.F. Chang's really isn't THAT classy, but I'm really only familiar with dives) Bombshell #3: Beef sushi (Husker Roll)? And it's actually yummy? Yes, yes. Sushi for white people, but it's oh, so delicious. Bombshell #4: Delicious cocktails at a Chinese restaurant? This just gets weirder and weirder. I highly recommend the Raspberry Wisp. Super delicious and fruity.

Will never come back again. Would not give even 1 star. Doesn't deserve it. Don't bother to go to this restaurant. What a horrible experience.!

Meh. Tried because I had a groupon. I took one sip of a mixed drink and left the rest. The sushi didn't seem anything special.

    (3)
  • Jennifer B.

My friend and I used a groupon and enjoyed a very good dinner. The shrimp fried rice was the best we'd ever had, and the General's Shrimp was pretty tasty too. The hot and sour soup wasn't very hot which makes it just mediocre in my book. Fortunately it came with the meal. My only issue is the food is overpriced for what you get. I will stick to the lunch prices to enjoy that fried rice!!

Portions and service have changed over the years. But the quality out west is one of the better in Omaha. Service is OK Drinks are OK The food staples are what keep this place above average. And everything is clean and tidy at this location!

  • Lauren R.

i lived in asia for many years-- and heard this place was good.WRONG--bad sushi, way way way too much cream cheese in the philly roll, I was not able to eat it after one bite since it was 75% cream cheese. I got the fried dumpling, which were okay but the price for 6 tiny fried dumpling was $7.50! So these tiny little things were more than a dollar each? I would expect at least 8 for that price.Service was good, and I could see how people who've never experience good sushi would think it's "the best"--obviously thrown off by the lounge atmosphere and fancy decor. Either way it doesn't hide their bad knowledge in sushi making.

Went here for my daughter's birthday dinner tonight. Sushi was good according to my family. Service needs some work as our wait time was quite long based on what we ordered. My wife's food and mine were not very good considering what we ordered. I ordered combo yakisoba and she had Mongolian beef. I have never had so sweet Japanese/Chinese food for dishes that are not normally served as dessert. I got the chicken yakisoba instead of what I ordered. Server still offered me a takeout box even after I told her that my food was too sweet. When bill arrived, my incorrect order was still on the bill and an automatic gratuity was added - guess that 6 people mandates automatic gratuity. Won't be a return customer!

This is perhaps the most expensive sushi restaurant in town, but is also perhaps the best. Hey, you get what you pay for. I like the simple, clean lines of the place. I've never had a problem with service. I've never experienced un-fresh fish, a problem I've seen elsewhere in town. The sushi and sashimi are the freshest I've had in Omaha. The toro (fatty tuna) sashimi is particularly wonderful, though pricey; each a little mouthful of heaven. One reviewer suggested this is a Chinese restaurant with sushi. I would suggest the opposite, that this is a full sushi restaurant that serves Chinese food. I admit I have never tried the Chinese food. The sushi and Japanese dishes are far too good; I never seem to get around to trying anything else.

Amazing sushi! Great prices! Bottle of wine and over 12 rolls and an appetizer was under $90!!!!!

BEST sushi in Omaha!!! I go here every time I'm in town! The wasabi stinger is the best if you like a kick in the mouth. Also, they offer a great variety of Chinese dishes as well. Service is top-notch and everyone is super friendly. Great environment and good for kids too!

What an amazing experience as always dining at Hiro! The quality of food never disappoints and the service is out of the world! Kevin has to be one of the finest servers in town. I applaud Milton for his quality of servers! Brought a new age group there and my daughters loved it! What a wonderful way to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Thank you Hiro for staying true to yourself. Such a pleasure to always get great food and service!

As has been said, "HANDS DOWN THE BEST SUSHI IN OMAHA"!! Not one for writing reviews but felt the need to comment after reading a review posted on this site earlier this year. Our family and friends have eating here for years and it remains our favorite place to go in Omaha. Have friends that say they don't like/eat sushi? Take them to Hiro's and they will leave loving sushi and wanting more. I say this from personal experience having taken many a sushi virgin to Hiro's. As for the professionalism of the staff all I can say is they are a blast and will make your night. If you go make sure to ask for a table with Sam. Ask to see pictures of his son Maize or the latest pictures of the crew's vegas trip and you'll see what I mean. He makes our night. As for the comments on this site regarding John Horvatinovich. That is definitely not the person who has served me all this time. My take on your rant is that you took a forum to spread helpful information and turned it into a chance to take out your personal dislike for this individual. It comes off as very small and petty. If you don't like the food fine say so, but your prolonged diatribe leaves me with the impression that the only reason you wrote the review was because you didn't get your way that night. I am sure the staff at Hiro's would have another view of your party's behavior that day. But I digress, go to Hiro's see for yourself food, service, environment is top shelf!!

Have eaten here several more times. Always delicious and always friendly service! Still might rethink a New Year's Eve reservation in the future but every restaurant is crazy that day. Drew the short straw on birthdays I guess.

This was my favorite sushi restaurant when I lived in Omaha. It's right on par with some of the sushi restaurants in San Francisco and the Bay area. I believe if I'm not mistaken, the owner/head chef there was a sushi chef in Los Angeles for a number of years before coming to Omaha. Too bad to read the service has gone downhill. I never had a problem when I went, but then again, it's been a few years.

My first sushi experience in Omaha and it wasn't a positive one. Food: Had four rolls, Spicy Tuna, Soft Shell Crab, Rainbow, Shrimp Tempura (They had different names at Hiro, but you get the point). The rolls all tasted the same, almost greasy. The fish was not bad quality, but not as tasty as you would expect in a top notch sushi restaurant. Atmosphere: Modern and cozy. No complaints. Service: The service was pretty slow, especially considering it wasn't that crowded when I went. I doubt I will be back, especially with all the other options in Omaha.

Best place in Omaha, hands down. Amazing sushi, the best Chinese food you could ever put into your mouth - I suggest the peanut butter chicken. I'm not sure what their secret is, perhaps it's unicorn tears and panda fur, but it's delicious. They also have the best staff ever. They know what drink to bring me and what I order. If I could eat here everyday I would.

I am not a sushi aficionado so I've been going on the recommendations of my foodie friends. This place came highly recommended and I can see why. Service was great, food was great, atmosphere great! We went early so there wouldn't be a crowd and the waiter could help us pick thru the menu. The menu was very straight forward and not confusing at all. While you're waiting get the edemame it's laced w/ garlic and some spicy peppers...but it's not hot....it's perfect..... I can't wait to go back. The Husker Rolls were our favorite.

This is probably one of the highest class places I've dined at in these parts. Great food and over-the-top fast and friendly service. I wish there was better lighting at our table. Don't leave without checking out the restrooms!

Fabulous happy hour with a decent assortment of rolls on the happy hour menu, quick seating and fast, friendly service.

I love Hiro's reverse Happy Hour and used to go on almost a weekly basis. Let me also say I've never been disappointed with the food. Service, however, is another story. It seems that it's either really awesome or really awful. I can't remember all the details, but last year I came to a 'final straw' type of moment and wrote a letter to the management - to which I never heard a response from. Things like servers not knowing items on the menu, lousy bar service, etc would make me shy away from returning to a restaurant, normally. But the food and atmosphere at Hiro are definitely exceptional. Even with the lackluster service I've experienced here I'm still giving it 4 stars. I'd highly recommend the Hiro Crunch and Husker Roll as well. Their edamame is also great. It's been suggested that I rephrase my previous comment about the server "refusing to split the check". I understand that it's the manager's policy not to split the check for Happy Hour. But that wasn't always a rule. One week, we came in and were told 'we don't do that', after having the server split the check for us the week before. No, "sorry we don't do that anymore" or any explanation... that was my issue. So, no, they don't split the HH check for anyone.

We had a very nice experience here. Neither of us is into sushi, so we stuck with the Chinese menu and were very pleased with the Sweet & Sour Chicken and the Peanut Butter Chicken. The waiter was fantastic-- super-friendly, kept the drinks and water filled. The place was crazy busy (Friday night), but we had no trouble getting seated (the reservation was critical, I'm told) and the food came out pretty quick. Glad we visited!

The Hiro's Crunch is so good. Loved the Spicy Tuna roll, too. Get the free appetizer when you check-in! The servers are great and welcoming too!

Pros: Great sushi, awesome happy hour Cons: Service is spotty at best Hiro has by far and away the best sushi in Omaha. I've tried Blue, Matsu and the other places and they don't compare. Anytime I'm back home and have a sushi craving I get some friends together and hit up the happy hour. What a deal. Great sushi, great drinks for low prices. My family is friends with the owners, who owned probably one of the best restaurants in the entire city, Imperial Palace on 120th and Dodge. They shut that restaurant down a long time ago, but it's great to see them back, with all of their old recipes. I recommend the Orange Chicken or Fried Rice if you want something that isn't sushi. I really want to give this place a perfect five, but I have to take a point off for the service. I've been here a few times, both when I lived in Omaha and when I visit, and everytime the service isn't that great. They are slow and not all with it. Other than that, Hiro is great sushi and is the closest thing in quality to San Francisco and New York City sushi places.

This is my favorite sushi restaurant in Omaha after Sushi Japan Yakiniku Boy ( yelp.com/biz/sushi-japan… ). I like its modern design and open kitchen. Avoid dinner and go for lunch because it's less crowded and more relaxing. Like a kid in a candy store, I need to have the Husker roll ($7.95) every time. It has beef tempura, asparagus stem, cream cheese, and mango sauce--doesn't that make your mouth water? The Firecracker roll ($10.95) is great-tasting as well and beautiful enough to be in the Louvre Museum. The best item on the menu is surprisingly the Mongolian Beef ($8.25). The dish is so balanced in flavor and texture; I can't imagine being tired of the sauce in my life. Hiro Sushi is great ticket for Japanese fare. Even if it were in Boston or San Francisco, I think it would do very well.

This has become my favorite stop for sushi in Omaha, and surprisingly, there are quite a few decent choices. When you come here, you get good quality food with many creative options without all the puff and fluff and pretentiousness that you may find at a couple other local sushi joints. Although there are many non-sushi options available, I always hit up the rolls. Some of my faves: -Husker Roll: Cooked tenderloin/asparagus/eel sauce. Not a huge roll, but delicious! Beef on a sushi roll was a hard thing for me to get comfortable with (hey, at least it is cooked!), but this is one of their better options. -Wasabi Stinger: Pricey, but don't leave here without it! They will tell you that this is their "signature" roll - and is filled with delicious goodness such as tempura shrimp, cucumber, jalapeno, *REAL* crab (not that "k"rab stuff...) and topped with a delicious wasabi cream sauce. It sounds nuclear hot, but it is really pretty mild. -Hiro's Crunch: More of the *REAL* crab, avocado, cucumber, then fried in a tempura batter. The service has been great on our trips here. Very attentive and willing to recommend based on your tastes. I have heard they have some good happy hour specials, but I have always come during the lunch hour (and it is never too crowded).

Tonight was a phenomenal date night for us young married folk. If you can score Eric or even Sammy as your server, I don't think you can go wrong. They both walked around having fun with their jobs and big smiles on their faces. Such a joy and pleasure to have Eric help us with a great "experience". We don't get to have dates that often, so it's a big deal when we really walk away bragging about the wonderful night out. Eric was fun, interactive, and had some excellent recommendations. This was our second visit total, the first of which we were somewhat satisfied, mainly from the lack of food direction, and not the best of server. I'm so glad we took advantage of a groupon for a second chance! This will be a great place to come back to when one of these guys are working. Food was phenomenal with making recommendations based on our preferences and even taking a few risks. So worth it! Blue sushi has nothing on this place if you're looking for a great ambiance, fun people, and phenomenal food. During the week would be our personal preference to go. Don't be shy...give it a try!!

I love Hiro so hard. As a disclaimer: I'm not much of a seafood eater. The extent of my seafood eating is usually cooked maki rolls, so there isn't much I can say about their sashimi or nigiri (I've heard from credible sources that Hiro does an awesome job). That being said, I enjoy eating here: the ambiance, service, and quality of food is just noteworthy. Also, something that newbies to Hiro (if there are any left!) need to know: although Hiro is known and respected for their sushi, one CANNOT overlook their amazing Chinese menu. You've never had lo mein until you try theirs. You've never known the potential of sesame chicken until you have tried Hiros. (repeat for each other menu item . . . ) Hiro is where I usually take all my out-of-town guests. They are shocked that something so perfect is located in Omaha. I smile and nod - I get to go here all the time!

Best sushi in Omaha! We've eaten at Hiro numerous times. The food, wine list and service are consistently great. We usually go for the sushi, but have tried some of the other dishes (chicken teriyaki, vegetable lo mein, black miso cod), those are tasty too. Be sure to try the negi hamachi, las vegas (great to share) and the wasabi singer.

Went for the first time to Hiro on west Maple last night. Service and food were both terrible. Old Market seems to be a different story. Perhaps the owners should spend some time out west?! Overpriced!!! Decor out west is weak, as well. Lesson learned, if you want sushi out west, Blue, Blue, Blue! Hi ho!

I think I like this place the best. It's better than Blue and Sakura. The restaurant is nicely decorated, clean and very chic. The service was excellent and so was the food. I tried their 3 items bento: tuna sashimi (fresh and melts in your mouth), spicy tuna roll (very good and has crunchy dough in the middle), seaweed salad (delish). I was a bit amazed that this sushi restaurant also serves Chinese food -a little strange since you don't see this in California, ever. However, I thought everything was pleasant and I will definitely come back again next time I come to Omaha.

Hiro does NOT care about my business. I typically can't complain much about Hiro because the food is normally pretty great but today I experienced something that was completely jaw-dropping. I was dining with several coworkers and had a pretty decent meal. At the end of lunch, someone tried to use an expired daily deal. Our understanding was that bargain price is no longer valid but the purchase price was redeemable for expired Daily Deals (so the expired $30 deal was worth $15 - the amount originally paid). Frankly, i didn't and still don't care if my coworker saved the money. The problem lies with the manager, John Horvatinovich. My coworker tried arguing her case about the daily deal which I'll admit was probably annoying, however John's lack of patience and condescending attitude was embarrassing. John informed us that the "five minutes spent listening to our complaining, could have been better served with other customers." Brother you haven't seen complaining!! In my younger years, I would have taken sport in humiliating John loudly in front of the other customers but instead I sat back and soaked it all in while my coworkers handled their issue. John, I hope you or your owners are reading this review. Everyone dining at our table is a successful sales professional. We have spent thousands of dollars in your restaurants between happy hours, lunches, holiday events and entertaining clients in the backroom. I live near Pana88 and Hiro88 and wrote a previous positive review. You totally blew it today. You weren't wrong by saying you didn't think the daily deal was still valid, again I honestly would not have cared if you hadn't honored their coupon. My issue isn't about assessing right or wrong with regard to coupons. My issue is with your behavior and how you spoke to my colleagues. Your poor attitude and the example you set for your employees are not very deserving of a management title in any organization. I'm a Sales Director, my job heavily revolves around customer service. The five minutes of time that you "wasted" with my table cost you far more than a $15 daily deal. We were loyal customers and we dine out EVERY day of the work week and we happy hour almost as much. As we were leaving, my coworker stated that we should have gone to Blue Sushi instead. John your comment to "enjoy Blue next time" just solidifies the fact that you truly don't get it. If you had chosen to just keep your smart little mouth closed, we would have come back regardless of the outcome of the coupon. Instead, you acted like a jerk and that is a direct reflection of how people choose to view Hiro. I was only an observer in this situation but as a witness, this was off-putting enough that I will not return until you accept responsibility for your mistake and apologize. I DO NOT want a free meal. I want you to recognize that you acted like an immature child and that you treated my coworkers with disrespect. If you or your management choose not to reply to this message, it makes no difference to me. I'm confident that your restaurant does well enough that you probably don't need my money but when the five of us tell five of our friends, it will eventually translate to thousand dollars each year, which could eventually negatively affect your salary. I hope you learn from this experience. In your line of work, you don't always know who is observing your behavior whether it be customers or your employees. I'm confident as a manager, you would have reprimanded another employee for conducting themselves the way you did. John, even if the customer isn't always right, you need to treat them with respect. You made an amateur mistake today and I'm willing to give you an opportunity to make it right. You are welcome to respond directly to this message.

What a disappointing lunch that was. We have gone to this location multiple times with our office and have spent lots of money over the last few years with company lunches, birthday lunches, and take out lunches for our office. Today we went with an expired Groupon. We were told that they would honor the amount spent on the Groupon, but not the full amount since it was expired. No issue with that, the Groupon was expired so it made sense. When it came time to pay, our server told us they would not honor the Groupon. After telling him they should, he went to get someone else. Next, a guy named John came over. Without introducing himself, he very rudely told us that they will not honor it. We told him that Groupon let us know that restaurants honor expired Groupons for the purchased amount ($15), but not the full amount ($30). He walked away for a while as we talked about how surprised we all were that he was being so short with us. He came back and tried to argue with us again, saying he was doing us a huge favor by honoring it. He also told us that the reason they don't like Groupons is because "This issue took 5 minutes of my time that could have been spent with other customers." We were shocked. Nobody knew how to respond, so I said "Well, we certainly didn't mean to inconvenience you with our business today." He responded with "Well, as I was saying before all of you started complaining was that we don't honor Groupons. . . " I interrupted him and said "Actually, I think you might be making this situation worse, can we just have our checks?" He said "I think you're right, why don't you pay so you can be on your way!" WOW. We all just sat with our jaws dropped. He walked away with our tabs. While he was away my boss talked about how much money we have spent here and how none of us had ever been talked to like that. We talked about Hiro vs. Blue and how the service and food is better and if we are going to be treated like this, we'll just go there next time. John came back with our tabs to sign with no apology or any attempt to make things right. He simply dropped them off and walked away. As we all got up to leave, John glared at me with an angry scowl from the host stand. Was he trying to stare me down?? I walked right up to him and said "Excuse me, are you the manager here?" He said very confidently, "Yes, I am." I said, "Could I have your card?" He said "Yep, here you go. Enjoy your next lunch at Blue!" My boss said "Did he just tell us to enjoy our next lunch at Blue?" Yes. Yes he did. We walked out still amazed that someone would treat customers like that, and he was the MANAGER. I will never go back to this location and it would take a lot for me to even spend money at Hiro again, even though I love the downtown location. We used to have large company lunches at Hiro out west, but my boss was so angry I know we will never give them business again. I still can't believe he said "Enjoy your next lunch at Blue!" We will John Horvatinovich. We will.

My #1 favorite sushi restaurant is a place in Boston called Fugakyu. On my review, I complimented it on using cucumber as an alternative to wrap maki, and wondered when other sushi restaurants would start incorporating that trend. Lo and behold, on my yearly visit to Hiro while back in Omaha, I find they've already started doing this! Yet another way that Hiro is adopting modern trends faster than many of its coastal competitors. Hiro rocks!

Happy Hour hits the spot. Half priced specials on sushi and sashami! We always go with 10-20+ people. The boss loves us and the waiters love us. Get to know them and they'll hook you up with the private rooms, sake and food. They'll even drink and party with you. If you're throwing a party, its best to pre-order so you don't stress the cooks out with your big order. Its the best spot for Sushi in Omaha.

We drove up to Omaha from Lincoln last night. We had planned to dine elsewhere, but when we finally made it to the Old Market and realized there was no parking thanks to the Summer Arts Festival, we immediately hightailed it to Hiro. By then, we were starving and it was prime Saturday night dining time. Luckily, we were able to get a seat in the bar, and we had the most wonderful time at Hiro. The server, John, was very attentive and knowledgeable. I was dining with my vegan sister who'd never tried sushi, and he made some excellent recommendations based on that. Overall the sushi was probably the best I've had in Nebraska. We enjoyed vegetable rolls (really tasty with avocado, shitake mushroom, cucumber & asparagus), the roasted gourd rolls and the 2-in-1 spicy rolls (spicy salmon & tuna with tempura flakes on the outside). The menu is very diverse, so if you're not into sushi, you have plenty of options, including Japanese and Chinese dishes. Prices are probably equal to most other sushi restaurants and the wine list ranges from $5-$9 glass. Cocktails are $7.50-$10. I'm surprised by everyone's complaints about the service. Though some things felt exceedingly slow, like the drinks, we were pleased with John's warmth and knowledge. I plan to bring a group of friends back to Hiro so they can enjoy the wonderful ambiance, service and food!

I like this place its a really nice environment very cozy yet modern feeling.. All the People who work there a really nice and the price is very reasonable sushi is delicious and those husker rolls are Yummy for those of you who are not crazy about fish :-) the only thing is that its not the greatest place to take the kids if you have any....

There is no better sushi in Omaha. Everything from a simple spicy tuna roll to the most complicated custom rolls are perfectly executed. The rolls are always nice and tight. The rice is always perfectly cooked. The ingredients are fresh and tasty. I have never had bland food at Hiro. In fact I often have to taste the wasabi plain, because I love it, but I can't bring myself to spoil the sushi with it. Hiro also has excellent Chinese food for those who don't enjoy sushi. Their orange chicken is amazing. In fact, their Chinese menu offers the second best Chinese food in Omaha after P.F. Chang's. I've always had good service at Hiro too. Although we tend to go at off peak times so that might make a difference. My single complaint is that their hours suck. We tend to be out and about in the afternoon and they aren't open from 2pm - 5pm. Otherwise we'd eat there a lot more.

Oh Hiro, how I love you. The Poke appetizer here is absolutely delicious as is the sashimi. The salad is delightful (I get the two salad dressings mixed together) and always fresh. The staff is funny and friendly, without the "trying to flip the table" feeling that I get at Blue.

Went w/o reservation on a busy Friday night and had to wait an hour to be seated. Bar area was a nice place to hang out and wait with drinks and some appetizers. Hostesses were a bit rude when asked for status of the wait list. Once seated, waiter was very attentive and food was excellent. It is a pretty lively place, so if you're looking for a relaxed quiet place, this is not the spot.

Having waitressed in the past, I pay attention to the service the most when I go out. At Hiro, it was impeccable. Samiel, our waiter, was fantastic. He was personable, but professional, and extremely quick. He took care of my boyfriend and I, and the other wait staff were attentive as well when it came to clearing plates and getting water refills. The food was well plated and classy looking, and well priced; Delicious too of course. Very rarely do I go out to eat and have such an enjoyable experience. I never complain when I don't, but when it's as good as this, I feel compelled to write a review. I tend to try each resturaunt in Omaha at least once, meaning I rarely return to the same one I've dined at before. However, from this point on, whenever I'm craving sushi, I will be sticking with Hiro. Thank you for such an enjoyable dining experience!

The vegetable rolls here are decent, but not my favorite. Prices are about average for a sushi place. The atmosphere is nice, but the beer is a bit expensive. Overall, I would return to Hiro, and next time I will likely try one of the dinner entrees instead of sushi.

After going here a few times I have to say that I have not had a bad meal here. I normally order the small sashimi platter and that gets me drooling. It's about $20-$25 and probably should be shared but what the hell.... Not ready to dive right into a big plate of raw fish and octopus? Try the California Special rolls. What's special about them? They have a slice of heaven (Unagi) on them. If you cringe just hearing about eating eel, you really need to suck it up and stop being a baby. Trust me.... You will not be disappointed!!! (Also great is the Crunchy Blue at Blue Sushi, they have eel sauce on them) They have a pretty large selection of entrees, pages for both Chinese and Japanese. They also have a decent looking saki list. I say decent looking because I really haven't had it enough to know what is good and what is bad. I have tried a few of my fellow diners entrees (fellow diners as in the people I'm with, not the table next to me) and I have to say that everything I have tried has been great. All this greatness is not cheap. Dinner for two with a few drinks may set you back around $75. Light eaters with no drinks may be able to squeak by on $30-$45.

Food here is really good. You probably cant go wrong w/ anything you get. My favorites include the mongolian beef, hiro's crunch roll and the teramisu. The only problem is, is that sushi prices are a bit high, but for great sushi in the middle of nowhere, im not complaining. One incident though, the owner (the wife of the owner anyway), kicked my party of 20+ people out while it was my friend's birthday after just 2 hours b/c the place was overpacked and they needed the space. Not cool. Not polite, and not professional.

In my opinion, Hiro has the best sushi in town. Granted, we're talking Omaha here, not some coastal big city, but even with that said their food is definitely head and shoulders above the local alternatives and could compete respectably in larger metros. Hiro is our go-to spot for girls night out happy hour - we usually stick around longer and order off both the happy hour and regular menu - but it's a good excuse to get everyone out. And with our diverse group of non-fish eaters (red meat or chicken, please), a vegan, some sushi newbies, and a few more adventurous types (count me in!) we can all walk away satisfied by a trip to Hiro. The ambience is great, the staff is friendly (remember to take care of your server), the food is fresh and delicious, and the prices are reasonable - what more could you ask for?

I love coming here for happy hour. I usually come here with a group of people and order a ton of rolls. Some are hit and miss--I used to come here awhile back before it got really popular, but stopped after discovering most of our rolls had cream cheese in it. Not bad for some rolls, but it lost creativity points for having all the rolls having the same thing. Now coming here once again, I've discovered that though some still hold cream cheese in it, it is thankfully, not the prominent ingredient. Unlike some reviewers, my favorite rolls are the ones that they deep fry (so unhealthy but so good!). I enjoy the warn rolls and really think that it's a nice touch! Ambiance during the evening, very chic and young. It serves as a great ladies night place--having a couple of cocktails with a group of girlfriends, pretending to be younger than we are. Waitstaff was prompt, friendly enough, nothing too special.

I really like this place but have had issues on some of the quality of the rolls. Especially the eel. Other than that, their other rolls and food are good. Service was also sub-par. I rated it 4 stars because it's not badly priced, but my experiences there haven't merited a 5 star place for me.

Hiro is under-appreciated. If you ask people in Omaha about where to get sushi, they will mention Blue or Sakura Bana (previously Sushi Ichiban), but not Hiro, which is bad for you, but good for those of us that consider Hiro a top notch sushi joint. They have a tremendous variety of rolls and sashimi, and the menu has something for everyone. I would recommend going at 10:00 pm on Saturdays for sushi happy hour. Everything is half-price. $3 appetizers. Great drink specials. Definitely show up early or you won't be seated until 11:30.

This is my favorite place to eat for sushi. Their food dishes are decent. If you want to eat Japanese food entrees I would recommend trying Sushi Yakiniku Boy (across from Oak View Mall, by Old Chicago) or the Sakura Bana (on W. Dodge road across from Crossroads Mall). I would recommend sticking to the appetizers, side dishes, sushi and drinks. Come for lunch, dinner, and/or happy hour (it's at night, I forgot what time it starts, so call to be sure). Oh, and the restaurant is really nice, inside and out. It's a contemporary designed Japanese restaurant.

Best sushi in town and by far the highest quality ingredients. I've tried all the other places in town and no one else even comes close, not even Blue. Friendly and competent staff. I just wish their happy hour menu was more extensive on the weekdays.

Not the place to go for sushi in town IMO. Spicy tuna wasn't spicy. When I had a private birthday party in the private room, they began cleaning our table to prepare for the next party, but they made sure we paid our $800 tab. Go to Blue (any location) if you want good sushi and an atmosphere that doesn't make you yawn. The service is good, the food is not so good.

Just moved here from San Diego and in search of good sushi. A friend told me about Hiro. It was excellent! Fresh, a great variety of rolls, excellent service. Our server Adam was great. Definitely make reservations on the weekend though. Was told they were opening an Old Market location at the end of the month. Check them out! I have found my go to sushi spot. This place blows Blue out of the water!

Hiro is great sushi! I was introduced to this place by a Chinese girl I went to college with. We had a little "class is over" celebration there after the "capstone" MIS course. They have excellent sushi and sashimi as well as a variety of other menu items, so it is a great place to go if not everyone in your party likes sushi. The atmosphere is very nice, and the food is even better!

  • Chris K.

Best place in town for good sushi. Reverse happy hour is a great time but you need to get there a little early or you will be standing around for a while. My favorite rolls are the West Coast Roll, and if you are feeling spendy the Wasabi Stinger. Get the beef tips for an appetizer! Salmon Nagiri is always a solid choice. They have a great selection of nice Sake. Service is always top notch! Most people in Omaha will tell you to go to Blue Sushi, those people are not your real friends.

I'm not a fan of this place. The sushi rolls were warm, I like mine made with cold ingredients. Flavor wasn't that great either. I felt like I was eating in some elderly asian woman's house.

This place has gone tremendously down hill in the last year! The rice is often gummy, which is a criminal offense in my opinion. Sometimes you'll get rolls that come out warm and others (on the same plate) come out chilled, which makes it painfully obvious that not everything is made to order. That is totally unacceptable for any sushi establishment, let alone a place like Hiro that has sky high prices. The worst part is that they are REALLY getting skimpy on their fish. If you expect me to pay $16 for a couple slices of toro sashimi, each slice should not resemble a stick of Wrigleys gum! Outrageous lack of value. Even the overpriced nigiri had slices of fish that were just ridiculously small and thin. Not enough surface area on the cuts to generate any amount of flavor or texture that a sushi snob would appreciate. All you can taste is poorly cooked and improperly seasoned rice; I thought sushi was about the fish? Wait staff is also becoming relatively worthless, which is the exact opposite of what I have come to expect at this restaurant. Raising prices, becoming more greedy with your fish, and hiring subpar staff is a sure way to lose faithful customers; the only reason I will be coming back after this many consecutively negative experiences is for the sake selection.

I've eaten here many times over the years. The best sushi I've ever eaten was had here. That was then. I can't express how disappointed I was with meal yesterday. One of the highlights is usually the rice. And it should be; if the rice is bad the sushi will be worse. The rice this day was bad. Real bad. Uncle Ben's, bland as newspaper bad. All of the fish tasted watered down, like it was recently thawed from a conventional fridge. I found bones in the salmon. There was no variety. The server made the bare minimum of visits to our table. I would have rather saved the fifty bucks and eaten at Chipotle. Hopefully they'll be able to recover, since when they're on their game they're the best in town. But for now go to Sushi Japan.

Hiro is wonderful. My husband and I have a tradition of going there for our anniversary because of the great atmosphere and GREAT sushi. No, it's not cheap, but for the quality and atmosphere, it's appropriate. Somtimes the waiters seem a little, ummm... giggly/young/silly which doesn't really seem to fit, but I'm willing to forgive. That is probably the worst I thing I could say. It is more of a date-night, upscale atmosphere (although I have seen people wear jeans there), and if you are wanting a happening, lively party-style place, I recommed Blue Sushi. Kid friendly? I say kid-tolerable, as in if you have a child running laps around your table, you might get some dirty looks.

Probably one of the better sushi in Omaha, but hey this is Omaha. One thing that's interesting to me is most of the Sushi/Japanese place in the U.S. are owned by Koreans and Chinese, but rarely Japanese.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
