My son and step kids go ape shit for this place. It must just be a counter level viewing thing because it is no where close to 'heck yeah status". The hostesses have an air of elusiveness....but I'm not sure why, its just a buffet. The chandeliers are quite magical, like Lisa Frank Unicorns and polyester JCPenney curtains.

Really gross. I was craving some nasty/delicious Americanized Chinese food so we went here because this place had good reviews. Everything was nasty - literally!! I couldn't finish anything on my plate, and I am by no means a picky eater. Everything was cold and soggy - the frog legs, crab legs, crab rangoon, the stir fry, etc. I am extremely disappointed. For $13 (no drink included), the food could have at least been warm. The variety was great, but NONE of it tasted good. Even the jello tasted strange. Will never be back.

This is not your standard Chinese Buffet. Usually if I am at a buffet it is because somebody forced/made me go to it. This place is the exception. I have found this to be the only acceptable of any kind of buffet in the omaha metro area. The food is different. Fresh, not overly seasoned with sauces and oily corn syrup. Everything is fresh hot and very very appetizing. they have these crab rangoons that are more wonton size that are pretty amazing. Overall the food here is great. hand made sushi everytime i have been there that has been top notch this is a must try

I came here with my coworkers for lunch one day on a business trip. All things considered, this place defied my expectations. Coming from NY, where Chinese buffets are as common as McDonald's, I was pleasantly surprised. The place was pretty packed, even though we got there at around 2pm. The interior is pretty typical of any other Chinese buffet. The food selection is pretty standard, and is varied enough that you can have about 3-4 plates of completely different food. In particular, there is one table/area that contains all of the deep fried food, for those that are interested. They had stuff like sweet and sour chicken, wonton soup, beef and broccoli, etc. What's a little more unique is that they have a mongolian grill section as well, so you can pick a bunch of ingredients and have someone stir fry it up for you. They also had blue bunny ice cream for dessert. The waitress was also kind enough to accept the 3 dollar off coupon I found on the website while on my phone. I wanted to give this place a 3.5 since the food was alright and not spectacular, but given how cheap this was after the coupon I bumped it up to a 4. Also the staff were speaking Mandarin, so this actually seems to be run by Chinese people, which is a plus.

For an Asian buffet, this one does pretty well on the score sheet in both quality and price. Service can be pretty patchy during their dinner rushes, but its a huge establishment and I understand it can get hard to keep up. One time our table was overflowing with dishes and they were really apologetic when they finally got around to clearing it. I know many Asian families that will come all the way from Lincoln for the all you can eat crab legs and crawfish. Adults eat dinner for around $15 which is a steal if you're eating the crab (typically $10/lb+) ...Speaking of that, the crab and crawfish can be a hit or miss. Sometimes the meat can be overcooked and take on that powdery texture, but hey- I also gotta say they are quick with the turnover for bringing out new crab and crawfish as soon as it runs out. Thats when its a full house in there also!! I would say more times than not the qaulity of the shellfish has been good. They also have a large selection of sushi (for a buffet anyway) and other american chinese foods. I noticed they even had frog legs on my last visit which is pretty impressive. They have finger food for kids like chicken nuggets and fries, if your kiddos arent into the Asian stuff. There is real self serve ice cream and a Mongolian grill which I have never actually done. For Omaha, good Americanized Chinese food for your buck.

Average food. Not bad not good. For sure good value! This buffet is what you would expect from a chinese buffet in the Midwest. Lunch is $8. Used a -$3 coupon off their website (for 3 or more people) so basically with tax and tip, $9 a person for a lunch buffet. No wonder this place was like 60 percent full of people during lunch. Decent variety: american fried meats (chicken nuggets, onion rings), chinese take out food, with the usual lo mein, fried rice, sesame chicken, cheesy seafoods, Crab Rangoon, spring rolls, with maybe 1 or 2 traditional Chinese food (longevity and custard buns). Basic sushi (a lot of rolls with cream cheese.. Is that a thing in Omaha?) that was okay. Desserts were basic some fruits, jello, pudding, and premade desserts. There is also a Mongolian grill that I didn't try.

Grand China Buffet - this is the place to go if you don't care how many calories you you eat at one setting. I usually take my old man here when he wants to fill up on mud bugs and frog legs. They have just about everything from duck to chicken. The mussels w/cheese are the best I have ever had along with the bacon wrapped shrimp. They have crab legs but it looks like they don't last too long on the buffet table. Their service is pretty good for the amount of people that are moved through this place. There is something for everyone here! Sushi bar is very good... Cleanliness of plates and tables is sometimes an issue that is why I gave them 4 stars instead of 5.

I think it's fair to say we've all had our dirty cravings for a good ol' Chinese buffet...but this is no ordinary Chinese buffet. This buffet has so many selections: shumai, snow crab legs, salt and pepper crab, so many varieties of shrimp, Mongolian grill, and an extensive Americanized sushi selection. They even have a whole roast beef for those who aren't really interested at all in the Chinese food. Although the quality was so-so, the sheer number of selections really was the killer factor at this buffet. Come here, be hungry, go home full!

This place has gone DOWNHILL. My husband and I were craving crab legs last Sunday afternoon and decided to head there. Everytime I go to this place it is dirtier and dirter, food etc. all over the floor, dirty bathrooms, CHAOS! My biggest complaint though is with the crab legs, it's like they ration them out and intentionally create this stampede to the buffet line when the fresh ones come out. I feel like a loser even being a part of it. They intentionally let the dish sit empty for up to 30 minutes at a time, while people anxiously wait and start to casually circle around like vultures- you know it's getting bad when people actually start lining up in anticipation of the next batch. Come on! Either have the darn things or don't! Yes, I'm sure they are expensive, but I would rather pay a few bucks more than be treated like a scavenger just to get a few. Also, WAY too many kids wreaking havoc every where. This last time, I watched a girl who couldn't have been older than 5 take the last few puney crab legs out of the dish, only to be told to "put them back" by her Mom..since "more would be coming". She literally dumped them back off her plate into the dish (that they just refill by the way, not replace) along with remnants of the other items on her plate. I won't be going back here. I'm surprised I haven't gotten sick yet, and don't really feel like chancing it again.

Actually not too bad. I was prepared to see a place full of American Chinese food, but I ended up having a good time there. Even found 小龙虾!

Tried it for the first time today and I like it. It has a clean and ornate environment. The service was fast and friendly. There are 6 buffet bars as well as a sushi and mongolian grill station. They have a lot of authentic chinese dishes vs the americanized food you see at most buffets. The black pepper chicken was really good. I'll be back.

My girlfriend and I went here for lunch yesterday and we were both impressed by the variety. The food was good and we tried new things. I tried the Mongolian Grill and they did an awesome job! I didn't get to try everything, but I think I have a new favorite Chinese restaurant on my list. The only thing that I didn't care for was we had to pay for the hot tea. Other places don't charge for it. We ordered 2 but only brought 1 cup. Had to ask for another cup but that was the only thing we had to ask for. I'm going back again real soon!!!

Food is always fresh and tasty. Good assortment of sushi, seafood and hibachi grill. Usually go on Sunday night and have to Wait for a table.

Went with my family and boyfriend last night. The line was long but we got seated in about 10 minutes after arriving. The table was dirty when we sat down so my mother asked them to clean it again, and get a hot cup of water to clean our forks and spoons with. The cup they brought up us had dirty ring in it and made me think twice about putting anything in it. The food was okay to me.. the service is excellent, they're great to their customers and that's really appreciated.

Straight and to the point, Grand China Buffet is China Buffet on roids with a lil less attention to the Mongolian Grill. If you have eaten it at China Buffet you probably eaten about half of what this place has to offer and that's were this place shines. The sheer madness of the amount of food on tap is the main reason why I will drive from Bellevue (which has a China Buffet) and drive to Grand to get my happy tummy goodness. Along with the usual flare you will also find a few new gems in there and some stuff to test your openness to food. Also on tap is a sushi bar with above average sushi which for me was a surprise for a ok priced buffet. A word of warning to all you crab leg lovers, this place is a practice of patience because apparently people around here inhale them as soon as they come out the back. Now by no means is any of the food out of this world but I don't leave dissappointed since there are so many options that it would b almost impossible to not find something that puts a lil smile on your face. So if you like China Buffet its prolly just because you haven't been here yet. Now I will never go to a regular China Buffet...its Grand all the way for me! Eat up Minions!!

Grand China is a GREAT place to go with family and large groups. This was evident in the numerous times I've gone here with my boyfriend and his family =) Even on busy days, the staff finds a way to accommodate everyone, they rock!! The restaurant is quite large and they have two rooms off to the sides where overflow peeps can sit in or if you have a private party. If you are coming with a large group it's best to call ahead of time so the staff can be prepared to set up tables to accommodate your group. They're really friendly and helpful. The times I've gone here the staff has been as attentive as they can, even during busy times. Sometimes, they may not be able to get to bus your plates right away, but you don't have to wait too long. The actual buffet area is pretty large and they have a great variety. From warm crab legs served with drawn butter, to sushi, to hot & sour soup, chow mein, fruit salads, and a bunch of desserts---including blue bunny ice cream! Whatever you're craving for and even if you're a selective eater, there will be something that you'll like. It may not be as 5 star tasting as a fancy chinese restaurant or one of the resort buffet places in Vegas, BUT it has a lot to offer a big group and it's a reasonable price as well. I enjoy coming here with my boyfriend and his family and looking forward to those crab legs very soon! =) #Yelp 365 challenge-- 49/ 365 (NE)

I realize that for the most part, buffet places are all the same. Steaming food under chicken egg incubators, cross contaminated tongs, and more obese people than a Texas bingo hall. However, when you love to binge eat like I do, learning which buffets out do the others is important. For this very reason, I am happy to review Grand China Buffet. If you've lived in Omaha long enough, you'll know that there is a long standing establishment called China Buffet across Dodge street which has a good reputation for quality Chinese Buffet food and Mongolian grill with a tradeoff of paying a price premium for a 99.4% chance of leaving the establishment with no tummy problems. I myself have been a long time fan of China Buffet which made me want to try Grand China Buffet to find out what is so grand about this place?!? As I walk in, I noticed that the place was bustling, everything looked clean and new, and I could see several binge stations filled with MSG yumminess that I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into. I did my standard four-plate food smorgasbord making sure to try a little piece of everything and if there was a series of four thumb war matches between Grand CB and Regular CB, below would be the results: One, two, three, four. I declare a thumb war... (sorry, I couldn't help myself) Round 1 - Food Variety - Winner: Grand The selection of food at Grand is greater than that of Regular. You will find all your greasy AmerChinese favorites such as mysterious meat stick, general/sesame/teriyaki/honey/etc chicken, soups with crispy wonton, random fried things, and of course freshly cut bananas in questionable but yummy red fruit sauce. Grand goes beyond that by providing three different kinds of mussels, dim sum, large variety of sushi (today they had kiwi mayo?!?), McDonald's chicken McNuggets (yes - the boot shaped ones), Blue Bunny ice cream station, shrimp wrapped shrimp, and believe it or not... veggies!! Round 2 - Price - Winner: Grand I've been a fan of Regular for a while and I have lived through several price increases. Below are the prices for Grand and Reg: Mon - Sat 11:00 - 3:30pm $7.50 Mon - Thu 4:00 - 9:30pm $10.99 Fri & Sat 4:00 - 10:00pm $11.99 Sun and Holidays all day $11.99 You might be asking how much is it between 3:30 - 4:00pm... But really, with any of those prices it is cheap enough! I don't remember what China Buffets prices are now, but I know it is more than what is above. Round 3 - Overall Environment - Winner - Tie I think that both establishments are very clean and won't have you wondering how long you will be sitting on the toilet later that night. The staff is your standard buffet style staff so no surprises. For some reason, Regular's staff is mostly comprised of Eastern European students where Grand sticks to the standard Asian ' Herro and Wercome' staff. If your eating experience is somehow enhanced with various Asian art and random samurai swords, you will like Regular's ambiance better - but for me, binging is binging and has little to do with the atmosphere. Round 4 - Mongolian Grill - Winner: Regular The best way to describe the difference is this. At Regular, Mongolian grill is part of the experience. The station is large, there are several choices, and for newbies there are suggested combinations to deter M-grill failure. At Grand, Mongolian grill is an optional side... it's the coleslaw on the plate of food that people might not even know is there. The station is small, there are no suggestions, the selection is smaller, and the location is to the side and barely noticeable. The biggest pain point is that there is no gong at Grand... so there is no way to show your appreciation of the grillers other than in monetary form. Boo. So the overall winner.... GRAND CHINA BUFFET! I'm sure this review was way over the top and long, but by all means check it out and if you ever find yourself having to choose a decent, well stocked, low bacteria, yummilicious place to binge... my recommendation is to give Grand a try!

Very good! There was a good variety of food available. And it was tasty. I also feel that the price is very reasonable. I can't wait to go back for my next Chinese food craving.

Stopped in for lunch after a morning full of errands and an empty stomach. Looking for quick Asian, so my friend and I thought we'd give it a go. Sushi bar was ok (hey, it's a Chinese place after all). Mongolian grill was decent. They have standard American-Chinese buffet fare with lots of fried goods that seemed to appeal to the Americans lunching. Although the food wasn't superb (it's a buffet people), I'm giving them four stars for super-friendly service, whole baby octopus, tilapia "chunks" with the bones and skin still on, the squid dish, red bean buns and clams (me and the Chinese families were eatin' it up). Slap a little soy sauce on clams and YUM! There's a ton of food so I can't review everything, but I'm willing to give it another go. Sometimes you need quick Chinese...you're starving, got small kids, a large group or what have you...so it's a decent change of pace as far as Chinese buffets go. We'll see if they manage to stick around. It's a huge place and right across the street from the "other" Chinese buffet with a loyal following. $8 for Saturday lunch...not a bad deal...of course, I ate my money's worth in clams.

I am not a buffet person. Conjures images of Great Grandma Hazels birthday luncheon at her beloved Bishops buffet. BUT Grand China Buffet would be the one to go to when in the mood for gluttony. Decent sushi. Shui Mai, coconut shrimp, bacon wrapped shrimp, hollandaise mussels, Japanese chicken, salmon, lots of cubed jello, tapioca and little pastries. Sesame balls and longevity black bean buns. Mongolian grill. Some traditional. Some Americanized. Some purely Midwest. The staff is very nice and efficient. They have their system and it works. They keep the place pretty clean and stocked and your glasses full. This is no small feat as, in every Buffett setting, you have the inevitable oafish person juggling three plates and slopping food everywhere. The staff handles it all stoically and never have I seen them bat an eyelash. Plus my now deceased Mom loved this place and whenever we go, they always mention her. That says a lot about the staff considering the volume the do. Best of all, I didn't have to cook this holiday!

Nice Buffet. Would be better if staff was friendlier. I guess they have not gotten used to our Nebraska hopitality as yet. The staff coldness is a Major turn off no matter how good the food is.

  • Joel U.

The buffet has alot of food selections. Whether it be lunch or dinner, there are many that come to enjoy tasteful chinese and sushi. The crab legs are delicious. It's warm not frozen, which I prefer. Aside from the wide variety of desserts, there are 6 different types of ice cream. If you decide to come here make sure you have an empty stomach, try everything once, and to take your time. It is a buffet so try indulge on the other selections. The waiters are very nice and accommodating.

  • Jessica K.

It's a buffet, but the food is definitely sit-down-and-be-served quality. The selection is phenomenal, the food is delicious, and I get to satisfy my need for immediate gratification. There are crab legs all week long (not just on weekends, like most buffets), there are multiple veggie dishes worth eating, the sushi is far better than you'd expect at a buffet, there's a mongolian grill, and the ice cream for dessert isn't soft-serve cheapo stuff - but real hand-dipped Blue Bunny in a variety of flavors (peppermint stick!) Nothing sits on the steam table long enough to get weird and gross looking, the way you find at other buffets. This place is as classy as one could expect a buffet to be. However, it's still plagued by ill-mannered and lazily-parented children who run and yell. That's just a fact of buffets that can't be avoided. Oh well.

    (4)
  • Amy Y.

Well, a lot of food to choose from but really none of it very good. If you are looking for a lot of food at a good price, this place is for you but if you are looking for quality too, then this place is not for you!

best cheap Chinese food in town. my wife and i take it to go that way we spend about $30 on food for leftovers and we don't have to gorge ourselves in the buffet. price compared 1 lb of crab Rangoon = 4.99 at china buffet 4 pieces of crab Rangoon =4.99 at hyvee

this buffet is quite large compared to others in omaha but i am not thrilled by it really. i'd much rather go somewhere else.

This place frankly is barely acceptable. Even though they have not been open long (six months??), they receive a "C" rating from the County health department ( douglascountyhealth.com/… )!! The only worst rating one can receive is "Fair", which mean's you'll be shut down if you fall below there. THAT causes me a great deal of concern. What is going on in "the back of the house" that causes this place in a former car dealership building to get such poor ratings? I believe it's just not good cleanliness. Their Mongolian BBQ is an absolute joke.. They have about 6 items from which to choose and only a couple sauces. The employee at the grill speaks almost no English so you have to point to what you want.. He also does not understand the term "Please Cook My Food With Water So It Does Not Get So Dry" OR "Please cook my broccoli all the way". Their food on the buffet is barely warm even at the height of the dinner rush.. Most of the fried foods are far greasier than they should be and they are not on racks so the food is kept out of the grease. Instead of having an ice cream machine (expensive, at $15,000+ for a good one), they have the large 5-gallon buckets of ice cream into which you dip a scoop.. This means people who do not wash their hands are grabbing the same things, touching the ice cream, etc. 2 blocks north of there on 114th street, HuHot (West side of street) and China Buffet are far better choices, although the China Buffet on 147th & Maple near Lowe's is cleaner and better than the 114th location. Restaurant Name Address Rating InspectDate HUHOT GRILL 710 NO 114 ST EXCELLENT 09/23/2009 CHINA BUFFET 3605 NO 147 ST EXCELLENT 03/31/2009 CHINA BUFFET 737 NO 114 ST STANDARD 10/2/2009 GRAND CHINA 11226 CHICAGO STANDARD 03/18/2010 Given how bad this place is, I cannot recommend them LESS... Lots to choose from, fair prices, lots of seating. Don't forget to go around the sushi so you can find the scoop your own ice cream.

As far as buffets go, this one is pretty decent. There are many different choices as far as the food goes. We take our kids here and our daughter (who hates Chinese) will not complain. I am not Asian, so I can't compare the food to authentic Asian food, but as far as American Asian food it is pretty good. It is worth the money for sure and the wait staff is very efficient.

Chinese Buffet at its finest, Came to Omaha on a weekend get away with my mother and son. Son ate Happy Donalds as he calls it. Mom and i tried every weird food this place had to offer. From two kinds of crab legs, to frog legs, to sushi and dumplings. To squid and octopus, and stuff in shells both hot and cold. We ate very little traditional chinese food and experimented. It left me wishing we had a nice buffet like this in Kansas City. We ate very late in the evening so the place was kinda a disaster but we got great service and they keep the buffet filled even as they approached the closing hours. We enjoyed the meal and had fun bringing each other little treasures to the table as a challenge. No weird tummy issues afterwards even with all the weird delectables we tried.

Prices were very fair, and the place was bustling with people! Food was hot and a huge variety of choices. I don't eat sushi but like everyone else has said, its something CB doesn't offer. Never tried the Mongolian grill out either, but it was kept busy no less.

  • Jesse T.

It's pretty good, as far as buffets go. They have the usual Chinese buffet items, but also add some atypical stuff, like mussels, sushi, and octopus. Dessert, instead of being a lousy soft-serve machine (like a popular pizza buffet in the area), includes self-serve hand-scooped Blue Bunny ice cream.

  • Angela W.

Tried this one on a whim, after a foodie friend recommended it. It is my new favorite Chinese buffet. There are 6 large buffet 'tables', sushi area, and a Mongolian grill. It's huge, and the food selection is fantastic. I would prefer that they focused less on dessert, though; Asian cuisine is not known for great desserts. ;-) Even the sushi rolls; you get more than cucumber. My only small complaint is that the ice cream area is "scoop your own Blue Bunny"; everyone sticking their hands into the ice cream just doesn't seem as hygienic. I will keep going, as long as they can keep this level of quality, up.

#209 This buffet has certainly gotten it down to a system. There's plenty of seating throughout the place and the atmosphere is incredibly jovial and infectious. There is HUGE variety in all of the stations and it'll be a feat for anybody to sample every item that they offer. The most menacing one to me was the fried foods station ... it looked like a coronary bypass waiting to happen. But, the others looked interesting enough. As a pescetarian, I had plenty of options - fried shrimp, fish, noodles, fries, etc. The sushi bar was a letdown because none of the fish tasted fresh and the rice-to-fish ratio was underwhelming. I didn't get a chance to try out the infamous Mongolian grill, but I'm sure it would have been a nice treat, considering what I saw in terms of the veggie options. Their employees are constantly refilling the trays and they don't hold back. The desserts weren't perfect, but they were enough after a fattening meal and an even larger view (hint hint).

I personally went there for sushi and i like the price for their lunch menu. alot of variety. but their chinese main dish was okay i thought. they also have really good selection of appitizer! i always get millions of fried scallops!

With how much I travel I've gone to Chinese Buffets from California to Florida. And I can honestly say this is my favorite one, right in my home town. They've covered all the elements, from plenty of room to Mongolian Grill to plenty of sushi to 3 big rows of buffet items to Blue Bell ice cream for dessert (and fresh cashews from the Mongolian Grill right next to it to top it with). Omaha diners must have few sources for crab legs because there is a constant line and constant flow of servers keeping the legs flowing, but they have a pepper crab that is outstanding and no one (except for me) seems to devour it. Sushi is well above average for a buffet. They run through so many customers that everything remains fresh. My only complaint is that the Grill chef assumes that everyone is an idiot and is overbearing in "recommending" what to mix together. Sorry dude, I can out cook you, I know how to mix it.

  • Pond S.

if I have to pick a place in Omaha to avoid at all costs this would be the place that I would choose. anyone that worked in the kitchen for any length of time can just look at the food put out and pick the ones that will make you sick later that evening. Most was just so over cooked I couldn't finish it. Just dirty and bad inside and out. the grand finale of my meal was the waitress riding my heels on the way to the cash register acting as if I was going to run out on the check, push the cashier out of the way to ring me up and then asked if I wanted to change back from my 20 as if it was automatic that I would tip her the remainder of that bill for her bringing me two sodas and clearing away four plates. when I hear people rant and rave about how good this place is I look at them like they have lost their god-forsaken mind. when they say avoid this place like the plague you avoid this place because you're pretty sure the plague is there.

I didn't like this place 8 years ago and I still don't like it now. It's a cheap joint and that's exactly what you get. Lots of screaming kids and very slimy sushi. If you know anything about Japanese sushi, stay away!!!!!

I was pleasantly surprised this afternoon when my family and I first tried Grand China Buffet. It's huge!! Also, the sushi was actually FRESH. I couldn't believe it. I went to Blue Sushi just a few days ago, and the sushi I had here at GCB made Blue's basic maki rolls look like pre-made gas station quality. I never eat buffet sushi, and this was the exception. Also, the hot n sour soup was surprisingly good. I wasn't as impressed with the standard fare, (sesame chicken, egg rolls, and other chicken dishes were very mediocre) and a few things I had I hated, as per usual when you go to a buffet. However, the seafood selection was great, especially for $8 on a Saturday, and the Blue Bunny selection was way better than the soft serve commonly found. Overall, the sushi was unexpectedly my favorite part. I might stick to that and try the Mongolian Grill next time, then finish off with a scoop of Blue Bunny. Try this place!

  • Khoa T.

Really decent food at a great price (~$9-$11 for lunch). They probably have the greatest variety of azn food for buffets in Da Big O. For a pre-made buffet place, they actually have a nice variety of sushi too. I also like that GCB is really spacious and I don't feel too cramped whenever I come here (I need my space when I do AYCE, naw mean?). With the money you save by eating here, you can go to Costco and buy more groceries and food! Maybe even a Costco hot dog?? O.O hahah just keeding you'll be too full from Grand China Buffet ;]

One Sunday noon visit was enough. There's a lot of what variety there is, but none of it is particularly special - and for the high price, I'd really expect it to be special. I won't go back.

Scary. We have been here twice. Food is fine, not great. Not always the freshest. The desserts especially seem a little stale. Reasonably priced and decent service for a buffet. But the second time we went the shredded cheese on the salad bar was MOLDY! We won't be back.

  • Daniel M.

Food is great, tons of options...on a Saturday it was Crowded...so be ready...good sushi and lots of non-fried options Plus, we were dining with small kids, and we were just traveling through town - so it was easy, affordable, kid-friendly, and the food was GOOD.

This is my favorite Chinese buffet. And I love the sushi they make too. I just wish they had sashimi on the sushi line. My only problem is I live in Council Bluffs, so I wish they would open another place closer to Council Bluffs or even better in Council Bluffs

The lunch buffet was a great value ($7.50 adult). Much better selection compared to other smaller restaurants. They have Mongolian Grill and decent sushi. Great service - very kid friendly.

This place BARELY keeps 4-stars. The coconut shrimp with my own addition of chili paste and the nice sushi items keep this place rated high. Service is always good here. The wait staff is attentive... constantly refilling, clearing and sweeping, keeping the place clean.

Food is great here. They've lots of variety of food, more than what you normally find at other Chinese buffet. They even have a terrific Sushi Bar. Lots of desert and variety of ice cream flavor.

If you're looking for some healthy Chinese eating...stop right here and look elsewhere. Otherwise, this yummy salt and msg laden buffet is the spot for you. The price is right so wear your elastic pants and take a pepsid before you go. They have an amazing spread of dishes from seafood to meat to veggies and lots of sweet items. I load up on the coconut walnut shrimp and get real heavy handed on their stir fry green beans. Afterwards I stuff my face with some sesame/mung bean balls, some steamed sweet buns and a serving of fresh fruit. To wash down all that grease. Can't say much about the ambiance at it is a buffet. I think most people come in knowing that it's the food they're after...not the color of the walls.

Being on the road 3 weeks per month, I can only survive 2 days without rice. Lo and behold, comes Grand China Buffet. Selection is great, food is okay and the staff are very attentive. Can't really compare to San Francisco Bay Area buffets, but anything with rice will do for tonight.

3 rows of buffets, sushi bar, and mongolian grill. Mongolian grill and sushi bar were good -- but the buffet was scary. Lots of fried food and non-typical foods you would expect at a Chinese place. Overall not impressed and will not return.

I went for lunch during a busy Saturday thinking maybe things would be fresh. The rice was soggy and overcooked, and everything from the sushi to the standard entrees tasted strange. The food they newly brought out from the kitchen didn't taste fresh either. The lady serving us also brought the wrong drink the first time. This is the second time I've been greatly disappointed by this place. I won't ever be returning.

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city.
