From singles, to young families with children, to neighbors, to oldsters, people gather here. The 50th and Dodge location has parking in the rear. The interior is dim and cozy with booths and bar seating available. Many of the staff are long-timers, friendly and efficient. Nice selection of good sandwiches and salads with dinner specials. Last Thursday's sixteen dollar prime rib slice with garlic mashed potatoes and green beams was worth every penny. The pico is a personal favorite. The place seems always busy, but it is usually possible to get a table without much of a wait on even the busiest evenings. This is a friendly and comfortable neighborhood favorite.

Recommended by a colleague we went in for lunch. Decent place inside and packed for lunch. A good sign. Food was good and hot. Service was very good. We'll be back soon!

Amazing pretzel bun and sweet potato fries! Goldbergs is a great place to go for a burger or sandwich that's both tasty and relatively cheap. I normally order the BLT which always comes out toasty and never soggy. Sweet potato fries and wild ranch wedges are to die for, always fried perfectly. Service is always friendly and fast. The atmosphere is relaxed. One of the better old school burger places in Omaha.

Going waaaay back, this place was called Goldbergs II, because the original is out west on Center. They also used to own a (then) popular local watering hole called The Chicago Bar. These folks have been in the bar and grill business for a long time, and it shows. They season the burgers very well. I like the mushroom burger, which comes with sautéed mushrooms and Swiss cheese. At $8 you expect a serious burger, and you get one here. We also get the potato wedges ($6.95 for a healthy portion), which are served with a thick, ranch dip rather than just a dressing on the side. My husband's go-to comfort food here is an order of wings ($11.95). These are not super-meaty, or fall-off-the-bone tender, and I don't even think they smell all that great, but when the spice of the cayenne sauce on the wings meets the bleu cheese dip, you have a good, old school flavor that just feels good to eat. Four stars instead of five because the mixed drinks here seem to lack consistency in strength and flavor depending upon who is bartending, and because the service is hit and miss here.

The Bloody Mary is a classic and deserves its reputation. The interior of the building is also classic and it has changed little, if any, over the years. Goldberg's is famous for its burgers and they are consistently good. I recall when they were bigger, but that's inflation. (Thank you Federal Reserve.) Ownership has updated the menu and my daughter had the pretzel bun for her burger. She liked it and she has a very sophisticated palate. I had chicken fried chicken with bleu cheese. It was delicious! It was served at a hot temperature and that is uncommon these days. Nicely spiced and with fresh onions and tomatoes. The malt was big enough for two. And it had a good chocolate flavor and real malt in the malt. Cold and frozen in a metal container in which you can pour into a proper malt glass. Goldberg's is a great Omaha tradition.

Cleanliness 4 Service 2 Food 3 Likelihood 3 1-5 (5 Best!) 3.0 It was about this time last year that I was in for a visit. And that seems about right. I REALLLLLLY wish local restaurant owners would understand that if you are to survive and thrive you MUST provide fresh, made from scratch food, in a clean place, with wow service OR you run the risk of losing loyalty from locals, and then it is a free for all to ANY chain restaurant. We saw our server 4 times tonight: to take our order, bring one round of refills, remove dishes and drop of check. After explaining that I drink a lot, and they have small glasses, I asked for two teas and two waters. They ALL FOUR went empty twice. I ate the last 1/4 of my meal with nothing to drink and she was no where to be found. The manager/owner was sitting at a table with friends/family. She walked by a few times and never checked in with us. She normally does not. It is the tone and culture. The salads where crisp, cold, and fresh. Thank you. The Club was good. Fries hot. Thank you. Chicken fried chicken was freezer to fryer product, hot. Mashed potatoes and gravy were warm at best. Very little gravy. Asparagus was overcooked. Onion rings were freezer to fryer product. The bill was $40. At Cheddar's, the bill would have been half the price, twice the quantity of food, made from scratch, and better at service. Help me owners understand why I owe loyalty to sub standard food and service? Yes, I was a bit rough with this review. AND I also understand that sometimes we all need a wake up call. Goldbergs, for me, 20 years ago, was a go to place. I took clients there all the time. The quality of food and service is just not there. That is why it has been a year since I was there last.

They put their sandwiches on pretzel buns! That alone makes me love them. Their fries are also great. This is a great place to go for a good quality meal in a cozy atmosphere. I can't wait to come back here and try more food!

Good solid American food. I have never had a bad meal here. They also have plenty of options for those who do not eat meat and good wine and beer also. I have never had dessert there.

Goldbergs has been a family go-to for years. It definitely plays up that Dundee charm so many people love, with historic photos on the wall and even a mural of the neighborhood. The food is good, and basically ramped-up versions of American favorites, i.e., burgers and fries. My favorites: -Goldburger on a pretzel bun -sweet potato fries -craisin-pecan chicken salad -pastrami melt -Reuben -bread pudding -brownie a'la mode Things I'd suggest avoiding (just not as good as the tried-and-true staples from above): -tacos, enchiladas -fish and chips

I would consider myself a regular. I used to eat there twice a week when I lived in Dundee, and now still eat there often. My most recent visit was rather disappointing. I had undercooked chicken on a salad and $2 was taken off my meal.

Really nice atmosphere. Waitress was friendly and attentive. I ordered the Island burger and it was very good but my only complaint was for an $8 burger there wasn't a whole lot to the beef patty. The sweet potato fries were great!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOW I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!! I LOVE EVER BURGER ON THE MENU! They also have specials... like steak specials... So delicious! My favorite sandwich is the wild ranch chicken and the Caesar burger. Their fries are yummy. The sweet potato fries are GREAT. They toast the buns. Also- if you enjoy a salad... which I DO-- their pecan chicken salad and apply salad are pretty tasty!! I actually like the decor... a lot of photos of Omaha from back in the day...

This is where I take my friends to celebrate their birthdays. The burgers are great but the bread pudding is why i go there. I always order it for holiday gatherings. Today my order for chocolate chip bread pudding goes in! YUM!

Whenever i need a reminder of helpfulness when things life is rocky, i come to Goldbergs and order a cheeseburger with a less fattening side of cottage cheese to minimize guilt. The staff are super kind! They are smiling and helpful - and i don't even know them. The food is far better than typical bar faire. The tradition is sound. The bloody Mary looks beautiful, even without the alcohol. Thanks for staying around, Goldbergs!!

Was in the area and needed to grab lunch somewhere and this place was perfect. I got there right as the lunch crowd was arriving and was able to snag a table on the patio. The servers were fast and friendly. I had the BLT and it was simple but delicious. I've also heard the burgers are amazing so I'll have to try one next time I visit. I loved that they had off street parking in the back. The views from the patio weren't great as it was just traffic watching, but the weather was great so that made it enjoyable. The inside was pretty dark so I think I'd choose the patio no matter what the weather.

I love it because it's close to our house. I also enjoy sitting in a new spot each time we go so I can look at the old pictures of Dundee they use for decor. I always get a burger on pretzel bread. My husband has tried various things, and each time he comments that the food is "so-so". I'd say stick to the burgers and beers.

Good burgers and malts. They have lots of other fancier entrees and specials as well. Nice reasonably-priced casual restaurant choice in the Dundee area.

Awesome burgers and food! Great sweet potato fries! It's a pretty small restaurant, so never overly crowded. Good beer selection. Enjoy the central location. Parking located in the back if the restaurant. Only real negative: it's not open on Sundays. Great place to meet up friends for a nice dinner.

Food: Ordered the blue cheese walnut salad, but received the special teriyaki chicken instead. My friend ordered the fish tacos. I exchanged salads and was disappointed. Teriyaki chicken from previous salad had been raked onto the new salad, bread with bite missing had been returned, with bite missing on separate plate. Big bowl of iceberg lettuce, some walnuts, blue cheese, and a few sliced red onions...ten dollars. Fish tacos were lackluster. Service: When I returned my salad, I was told that I had order the special, but my friend agreed with me that I had indeed ordered the walnut blue cheese salad. A different server returned with my new salad, set it in front of me and just walked away. My friend sitting across from me said that when I returned the salad, the floor manager rolled her eyes and gave me the stink eye...nice. Price: Two meals and a beer came to $30. Didn't feel the overall quality of the food and experience was worth it. Actually left feeling like the staff would rather not have had us come in at all.

This place has a decent selection of reasonably tastey hamburgers at a reasonable price. The way its set up is really cool and gives it the feel of a 1960s steakhouse but a little more casual. The service is great and the experience very nice. Its nothing too original but the execution is very well done.

This is an old school, high back boothed restaurant with a lot of character. The food is not gourmet by any means, but it is done very well for what you get. We tried a burger, a reuben sandwich, and a chicken sandwich. All three were very tasty. The sweet potato fries were also delicious. There's also a full bar if you're so inclined. Parking in the back was not an issue. The waitresses are very fast and don't waste a lot of time chit-chatting. In fact ours was a source of amusement for us. Each time she would stop by to ask a question, she'd be gone before I could finish my sentence. So it was a bit of a challenge to order something extra or get extra sauce etc. She was just way too fast! Overall it was a good experience, good food and a cool place.

We hadn't been to this place for a couple of years. We were pleasantly surprised to find everything that we ordered was very good. Montana Reuben, Turkey Burger, Fish and Chips and the potato salad was wonderful. ( My wife is a potato salad critic ) Can't wait to go back and make sure this wasn't a fluke.

Goldbergs is a good place. Good American food, good cocktails and beer. Good, not great. An Omaha staple for a reason. Reasonable food, freshly prepared and decent size portions. Sometimes I forget about Goldbergs when I'm always on the lookout for the latest and greatest in town. After my most recent visit, I think I need to put this on a go to list when I don't want to wait at other places. My Montana Reuben was a nice change, and the Long Island Ice Tea was perfect to wash it down. I will be back soon Goldbergs, I promise!!

  • Nicholas M.

Burgers are good. But I can think of four other places in Omaha to get a better burger. The ambiance and staff make that experience at Goldberg's. They are not reinventing the wheel. But it's a good family restaurant.

  • Carter B.

Blue burger was pretty good - nice burger meat cooked perfect (little pink), and pretzel bun was toasted perfectly. I prefer crumbly blue cheese but dressing style was ok and had some chunks. I also got the sweet potato fries which were pretty good too. They make a special dipping sauce for them which is a good compliment to the fries. The bread pudding with ice cream definitely stands out. I think it is a good contender for best bread pudding in Omaha when compared to Upstream's version. Overall the waiter was nice and attentive. I would visit again and recommend.

There's a reason that you have to wait for a table on weekend nights at Goldbergs. When those of us that live in the area want a burger, that's where we go. In fact, I can't think of anywhere else in town I'd rather go in town for a burger. Start off with some potato wedges or Sweet Potato Fries, and make sure to get extra sides of their homemade ranch. You'll want to bathe in the stuff. I'm fairly certain that I can't get enough of their Wild Ranch chicken, burger and wedges. As another review posted, it almost should be illegal it's so good. Of course, all the other burgers are good (Black & Blue, Cesar, etc) but Wild Ranch is as close to perfection as it gets for me, so it's hard to deviate. Oh, and beware the mushrooms - they come from a can (icky.) In all the years I've been going to Goldbergs, I've never had dessert there. Probably because by that time I'm almost ready to float away in a ranch-induced coma. So save room for another Guiness instead. :) If you don't want to hassle with parking and waiting for seating, go on a week night. Lunches can be equally as busy as weekends sometimes. Parking behind the restaurant. There is some outdoor seating, but it's not accomidating enough for a large group (6+), and the only other time we sat outside it was raining buckets so we relocated. Servers and bartenders are always friendly and accomidating, no matter how busy they are (which is good because they're always busy).

Goldbergs is consistently delicious. You could order anything on the menu and you would be pleased with your order. The ambience is pleasant, and the staff are friendly. I love this restaurant! This is one of the only American eateries that my family and I go to. It is conveniently located, reasonably priced, has good variety, is family friendly. Definitely worth trying!

Pros: Delicious burger with a great location, bloody marys! Cons: It can be quite the wait Goldbergs II is the best place to get a gourmet burger in Omaha. The juicy, tasty burgers are pretty great, and they taste even better when you wash it down with a spicy bloody mary. The potato wedges are hearty and filling, and the location is one of my favorite parts of all. Get here early, as the wait can be very long. That's the only reason I give it a 4 instead of a 5. Otherwise, anytime I'm back home and want a great burger, I head to Goldbergs.

Good bar & grill in Dundee. They reliably serve good food and have late night hours on the weekends. My favorite thing to order is the Montana Reuben - turkey, cole slaw, swiss cheese on grilled marble...soooo good. They also have a good array of burgers. My husband loves the Bleu Burger, and I have a friend who swears by the Caesar Burger. Oh and don't forget to order sweet potato fries with the creamy horseradish dipping sauce. They are one of my 2 favorite places in town for sweet potato fries. By the way, do not confuse the Goldbergs in Dundee with the one on 132 street. They are not the same and you will disappointed. Make sure you visit the Goldbergs in Dundee.

The service was good, but the food was just okay. Ordered the Goldfingers and they seemed overcooked. The ends of them were hard and shredded the chicken when bit into. Everyone else seemed okay with their burgers.

When I'm glancing through Yelp to see the latest and greatest reviews, there are very few instances where I feel that the overall rating that a particular establishment has achieved is greater than what it actually deserves. In those cases, like Goldbergs II, I feel obligated to inject a small dose of reality. Goldbergs II has a reputation in certain circles that it's a cool place to hang out and eat dinner or grab a drink. Consequently, people who want to seem cool will write a favorable review of such a place to give you the impression that they are also cool and fun to be around. I would say that the rating of Goldbergs II is inflated for this reason. The food is typical bar fare, so I'm not sure why others want to make it seem like Wolfgang Puck is hiding in the kitchen flipping burgers. I don't care how stellar your pub food is when the service is as routinely awful as it has been each time I've visited. I've never eaten any other place where I feel as if the staff resents the fact that I am there. Occasional spotty service on a busy night is completely understandable, but the consistent indifference that must be some sort of job requirement to work here is one of the biggest reasons for a 2-star rating. Spare yourself the agony. You shouldn't have to pay someone to treat you this poorly.

Goldbergs is another Dundee gem. Nothing too fancy but definitely worth stopping by. They're known for having a great selection of burgers. (Black & Bleu Burger: Cajun spice & Bleu cheese! YUM YUM!)They also have other items on their menu like appetizers, sandwiches, soups, salads. They have corned beef and cabbage for St. Patrick's day too. They're not too authentic so if you have a picky eater in tow, Goldergs would definitely have something for everyone without getting too crazy authentic, ethnic, or over priced. They also have full bar if you want to just stop in for a drink and something light to eat or a full patio. Note: They are located on busy Dodge St. so if you do want to sit out side prepare for noise. Regardless, I have enjoyed many nights out on the Goldbergs patio.

Goldberg's is great. Always a dependable option, varied menu, classic decor. I love this place. The sweet potato fries are the best in town, the burgers are delicious and made with fresh ingredients, and I'm told the bread pudding is great. It's not my thing, but at least one person at my table orders it each time. Really respectable cocktails as well. The restaurant is right on Dodge, so the patio can get a little noisy, but there's ample parking in the rear. The kitchen's open pretty late, too, so it's a great place to go after seeing a movie or a play.

Had a cheeseburger with pepperjack cheese, onions, tomatoes, and lettuce. The buns were soft and delicious. Substituted sweet potato fries for the chips. It was decent. The burger was good but forgettable. The best part was the dessert.... the Brownie a la mode with ice cream. One of the BEST I've had. I'd come back solely for dessert. My friend had the bread pudding and it was meh. Everyone else enjoyed their food but no one was rolling their eyes in delight by any means.

I'm kind of a sentimental guy and that's why I like places like Spaghetti Works and Goldberg's more than I probably should. I've been going to each for as long as I can remember. First with my parents and now with my wife and probably with my kids one day. Don't get me wrong, the burgers aren't bad but they aren't spectacular either. If the burgers are one thing, they are consistent. I'd rate them somewhere between above average and good. There are many other places that have better burgers. Burger Star, Tanner's, and Ted's just to name a few. But I find myself at Goldberg's a couple of times a year just because. The decor itself is nothing special and it's not really a hot spot in town though it can get busy. At the end of the day, Goldberg's is what it is.

The owner is so rude every time I go in. I'm done with the place.

Goldberg's II is absolutely A-OK in my book. And then when you factor location and competition into the equation, this place is really fab. Reasonably, appropriately-priced food. Nice, warm ambiance. Decent service (nothing usually above that), good bar food. Their potato wedges will cure any hangover, and their wings are a guilty pleasure worth the extra loopa on my fupa. Winter just may be the best time to try this place out - it's cozy atmosphere and warm food will make you forget it's miserable outside.

It's true, they do make a mighty tasty Bloody Mary. However, I've had bad customer service experiences both at the Dodge location and at the one out west. In case you're wondering, I seldom have customer service complaints. At the Dodge location, it took so long to get our food one evening that one couple in our party had to leave in order to make the opening of a play for which they had tickets. When the rest of us refused to pay for those two meals, someone who claimed to be one of the owners came over with a lame excuse about "a rush" of patrons causing the food to be delivered so slowly and a claim that it was therefore not the restaurant's responsibility and we still owed them for the two meals. Oddly, though, at no point in the whole time we were there did it ever seem especially busy, and there was never a time when there weren't empty tables. At the Goldberg's out west, one of the wait staff called one of the women in my party a "bitch" following a special request on an order. Her intent was to say it under her breath at a level she thought no one would hear...but I did. I complained to one of the managers on duty, but she didn't do anything about it. Based on the way I've been treated and on the fact that the food is palatable but nothing special, I have made it a point to spend my money in other restaurants instead.

We absolutely loved Goldbergs. The burgers were perfect, as was our appetizer. The bloody mary was perfect as well.

Good bloody mary's, OK burgers (and +1 for having vegetarian options in a place seemingly filled with meat loving, gun toting red blooded americans), atmosphere is weird. I felt both at home and completely displaced. Something about it reminds me of my beloved Jewish delis back home in Montreal, and I love that. Definitely what you need to soak up all that tequila, or to cure the post drinking blues.

  • Claire B.

Not a bad joint, and sad that it shares its name with the Goldbergs out west - because it is a damn sight better. The food at Goldbergs II is great - sure, it's bar fare, but it's GOOD bar fare. I wish other Omaha establishments would figure that out. In my opinion, they have the most reliable french dip in town (they call it Pot Roast Dip, but same difference I think). My problems with Goldbergs II are the seat-your self nonsense, slow service, and drink prices seem disproportionate to the menu prices. Why am I paying $5 for a tiny glass of beer that nearly doubles the price of my meal?

    (3)
  • S A.

When my friend suggested this place for dinner, I groaned a little inside - not because I didn't want to try it but because I had heard about the great sweet potato fries and knew I wasn't allowed to touch them until I could fit my backside into that darn satin, strapless bridesmaid dress I have to wear in 4 weeks. But, it's a couple blocks from my place, so I went along with the plan. I actually wasn't disappointed that I did. I had the apple chicken salad and it was really good - I especially enjoyed the nice touch of apple chips. I am looking forward to going back after the wedding (and thus, wearing of the tight bridesmaid dress) for a juicy burger and some sweet potato fries with horseradish sauce!

  • Lou M.

This place has one of my all time favorite burgers. The Blue Burger. I eat here about a 4-5 times a year and always get that. It's always been really good. NOTE: The Goldbergs on 132nd street is horrible. No where close to the same - even though it is suppose to be. I'll never go the 132nd street again. TERRIBLE. This one on 50th in midtown Omaha is really a nice place though.

  • Rosalina R.

Gooolllddberg's (wasn't Goldberg a wrestler in the early 90s?) , I just like saying it it out loud! I loathe the day I will no longer be able to eat their sweet potato fires whilst reminiscing and philosophizing over the greatness that is their horseradish dipping sauce...I almost must pay homage to their large salads and homemade dressings. Oh yeah, I also go here for meat burgers too. Yip Yip! Get me a beer to wash it all down plz!

Great neighborhood joint with friendly service, delicious food and, quite possibly, THE BEST BLOODY MARY ON THE PLANET. Handmade from scratch -- none of that crappy mix stuff -- and served in a HUGE glass rimmed with salt. A meal in a glass. Love. Truly some of the best hamburgers in town. Try the Bueno Burger - an open-faced hamburger smothered in chili, nacho cheese, chopped onions and jalapenos, and served with tortilla chips. Or, ask them to make you a "Super Burger" -- a cheeseburger with bacon and sauteed mushrooms. I like to put mayo on mine. Mmmmmm..delectable. Great French Dip sandwiches too. And finally....the bread pudding is killer. There is nothing particularly hip or cool about this place, but it's always yummy bar food with great, friendly service. I have to wonder when some people say they get bad service if it's more them than the restaurant. Just sayin....

Good solid bar food. Burgers are well seasoned and cooked properly. We were by far the youngest couple there on a Tuesday night. It gets a fourth star for the homemade ranch.

I like their burger and wings there. Prime location right on Dodge not too far from downtown or midtown. Nice atmosphere. Very crowded at lunch. There's another Goldberg's at 132nd and Center.

Goldbergs has always been one of my favorite, go-to restaurants for a casual dinner or drinks with friends. We recently went here for a friend's birthday party. The staff was very accommodating of our large group and happily pushed together several tables for us, split checks, and even stayed pleasant when we lingered a few minutes after closing. To start with I ordered a Ranger to drink. The have a great selection of beers and mixed drinks. The prices aren't low, but they are comparable to similar restaurants in Omaha. I usually order one of their burgers because they are consistently good. I have tried their Western Burger and Caesar Burger in the past and really enjoyed both. On this visit I tried the Blackstone Burger which is topped with swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and thousand island dressing. I ordered it on a pretzel bun (because pretzel buns are delicious), but you can also get it on grilled rye bread. For my side I ordered the sweet potato fries with Goldberg's dip because this combination is amazing and ruins all other sweet potato fries for me. This burger was incredible and a great and different flavor combination. If you are looking for someplace in the Dundee area to get a casual meal or drink, Goldbergs is a great option. The quality is consistent and, although it is usually pretty full, I don't think I have ever had to wait for a table.

The menu was wonderful. Food was excellent! But the service was not good at all. The server barely spoke to us. She came to our table once after we good our food and that's because we called her over to let her know she forgot our salads. If we go back again were doing takeout. I hate not leaving a good tip, but i don't like being at a restaurant where a server doesn't strive for excellence.

I have been going to Goldbergs since I was a kid. I definitely have my go to entrees, but I've never been disappointed when trying something else out. I usually go for the pot roast dip, it isn't the largest... but the meat and au jus are great and it hits the spot. If I am really hunger I might go for the pork tenderloin sandwich or the Caesar burger which has guac on it! And if I'm just splitting an appetizer with friends over drinks I go for the Super Nachos, huge plate with great toppings. Also, you can't beat the patio when it's nice out. Even with Dodge street right there it is where I like to meet up with friends for a bite.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Omaha. Hands down. I have been coming here for 9 years and the food has stayed consistently delicious. I have never had anything I didn't like here. This is the epitome of Dundee because it's definitely family friendly, the service is great, and the food is amazing. They're closed on Sunday's, but hey - awesome people need a day off too .

I really like Goldberg's buffalo wings. They are very meaty and I love their buffalo sauce.
