Love this place! Right off I-80 at the 84th St Exit, big breakfasts at small prices. Far better than Bob Evans or those kind of places. Very fresh - great cinnamon rolls too!! And be sure to check out Mangelson's next door, it is connected to the restaurant.

Yum, Yum, Yum! Come here for breakfast and it is always Great!! Cinnamon Rolls are the best! Pastries & Cakes are one of Omaha's Best! Will return often!!

Meat omelette and fruit, very good meal. Great service and lots of bakery stuff to go. This is now my go to breakfast joint in Omaha.

  • Eric H.

The freshly baked cinnamon rolls topped with the scrumptious icing is the best. I could honestly go there and just have a cinnamon roll and be totally satisfied. After eating the cinnamon roll, then comes the main entre. The prices are very reasonable and service was good. You don't have to be in Omaha to enjoy the cinnamon rolls because they can be shipped to your location along with the icing.

My favorite breakfast spot. Food is great and staff is super friendly. Get there early for great early bird specials. English muffins are the best in town. Saturday try one of the weekend specials, always something unique.

My favorite breakfast place in Omaha. Primarily, because of their outstanding quiche. Their baked items are to die for and their cozy atmosphere is lovely.

Convenient location right off the freeway, friendly staff and delicious food! Definitely worth a stop!

Stopped in while in Omaha for breakfast and wow, was this place PACKED! We had about a 10 minute wait to drool over the freshly baked pies and caramel apples that were in the waiting area. For as busy as this place was, the service was excellent! Someone was there to greet us within a minute of being seated, and our coffee cups never went empty! Wife had a scramble that had chunks of steak and hollandaise sauce that made me regret ordering the french dip! The dip was good, sure... but boy, that scramble looked AMAZING! (And according to the empty plate from a person that almost never finishes her food, must have tasted great too! We got a cinnamon roll for desert and it was big enough for both of us to share. Delicious! Recommend this place if you're out and about and need a hearty meal!

YUM! YUM! YUM! The menu is not typical, but no worries! You'll find something to drool over here. I met a friend for breakfast around 8ish. By 8:30AM the place was PACKED! My advice, get there early on an empty stomach.

I came here for breakfast on a Sunday. Like other reviewers stated, yes it was crowded. I have no complaints with service, but the food was unimpressive. I ordered a chicken & broccoli frittata with hollandaise. Unfortunately it was more of a baked egg casserole the size of a brick, containing more bread than anything. It also had shredded potatoes in it. I took home half of it, but ended up tossing it out as it lacked flavor & ingredients (other than egg and bread). My meal came with a wedge of cantaloupe, watermelon, and pineapple & my choice of bread (toast, muffin, etc...). The best item on my plate was a morning glory muffin, much like carrot cake, but denser. Other guests at my table ordered chicken fried steak (which was soggy and lack luster), a breakfast sandwich, and a scramble which was served with a cinnamon roll the size of your face. I only tried the chicken fried steak, which based on the breading and time it took to reach our table was already cooked before we ordered it. Their bakery counter is impressive. If you end up here, I would skip the breakfast dishes and head there instead. Otherwise, your best approach would be to have low expectations or go somewhere else.

Picked up a quiche to go and some pecan logs. Fed 4 adults for under 30 bucks. Delicious food.

Wonderful breakfast. Our table had a little bit of everything from the menu and it was all great. The cinnamon and pecan rolls are a must.

We ate here once 3 or 4 years ago. Don't remember what I ordered, but in my mind it was a positive experience. Not so much this morning. The menu was nothing special. Standard American diner breakfast fare. I ordered the German potato pancake which was served with bacon and applesauce. The applesauce was spoiled - sour, fermenting. I sent it back and expected a fresh replacement, but it never arrived. About 1/2 way through my pancake (which was basically reconstituted potato flakes with a few dehydrated scallions tossed in) I found a long black hair woven through the batter. Our waitress was apologetic and we weren't charged for my meal. But I won't be eating here again. There are plenty of breakfast joints in Omaha that have better food and atmosphere. All of them, in fact.

We have been to the farmhouse cafe twice. Each time has been during a busy rush time. Service was great, and the food was too. Good coffee, great pastry and good egg dishes. Definitely a go-to breakfast place.

  • Gavin M.

The food was ok and the price decent, but neither was enough to offset the crappy service. Our server was slow, rude, and unhelpful. She didn't refill our drinks and even complained - loud enough for us to hear - that we were there too long. We will not be back.

I had a business lunch here today. A cafe is not a place I would normally consider taking a client, but Farm House is an exception. The food is fresh and delicious. Portions were huge. Service was good. Value was great, especially for the baked goods. I love the fact the the food is made daily. Food: A Value: A Service: B+ Environment: B

The food is okay for a change of pace. Plus i rather like truck stop food. The wife raves over the fried pickles at this restaurant. They have a lot of desert if your into that kind of thing.

We went here looking for a good place for brunch on a Sunday. We arrived around 12:30 and there was a 45 minute wait for a party of 7. I figured based on the long wait that meant that the food would be great. After we ate, I'm confounded as to why this place was so busy. The food was definitely nothing special. I'd rate it at about the same level as Village Inn. I got a TomTurkey Omelette. The turkey in the Omelette was lunch meat... Not ground turkey sausage, just plain old lunch meat. The cinnamon roll was smothered in about an inch thick of icing. I had to scrape it off to get to the actual cinnamon roll. It was stale and not very flavorful. The whole party agreed that while the food wasn't terrible, it wasn't very good, it definitely was nothing worth coming back for.

Fast and friendly service, reasonable prices, big portions and the food is terrific! This restaurant has American classics down with an excellent bakery. I have never had a bad meal here and my family enjoys coming here when I take them to breakfast / lunch. Busy on the weekends, but it was worth the wait.

Cleanliness 3 Service 4 Food 4 Likelihood 4 1-5 (5 Best!) 3.8 It has been over two years since I was last here. My score is a little higher! I was not greeted upon arriving. I then went to the restroom. I then proceeded back to the host station, I asked to be seated. I used the restroom 3 times. The men's restroom smelled similar to a cat-litter-box. The stalls and toilets were very dirty. Trash was full. Food was hot, fresh, and tasty. Good job. The server was most efficient, good job. at least a 25% tip. I had the hot turkey meal (I know, that is "sick" considering T Day is a week or two away. LOL) it was MUCH better with EXTRA gravy.

Great breakfast right before a long drive to Denver. Awesome cinnamon rolls with tasty icing. They're ingredients are so fresh! The eggs were fluffy and perfectly scrambled. Waitress was awesome and quick. She never let my coffee mug go empty, what every coffee lover wants in the morning.

Their catering is pretty good, but eating "in house" is something I can't recommend. They consistently taste like food made in bulk, overcooked, salty, with poor presentation. Services is generally poor so be prepared to have an empty glass. I just can't recommend this place to anyone. With food this bad, I always feel like I have overpaid.

No reason to return to this hyped up place. It truly belongs in history books and close the doors. Food-my french toast "special" alright- was cardboard dry. The bacon was excellent! Crispy and tasty. Service- was horrible. A 30 min wait for a table, Folks at front part of store have a painted on smile with apathetic gazes. Our server brought us water and then one drink at a time after that. Food delivered one at a time by a different server. Brunch items. A member of our party got up to get condiments for the table. The place-Its old and dirty. Time to close doors and retire the whole place.

This is all American cuisine. We had a very warm reception. The service was very good. Our 2 children ate their food happily. The potato chip encrusted chicken tenders lacked salt. The fried chicken chefs salad was gigantic. The fried chicken was deeelicious. The other ingredients lacked quality. The iceberg lettuce was wet. The 2 tomato slices were soft and 2 cucumber slices were corky. The blueberry muffin was one of the best I've ever had. The blueberries were large and fresh and plentiful. It was great to try a local restaurant.

Awesome family place with great service and food. We were in from out of town for a baseball tournament and we're looking for a place to eat during a rain delay. We picked the right spot.

Great local restaurant in the middle of town. We usually go on Sunday morning and the place is always packed. However they keep the tables turning and we never have to wait more than 15 or 20 min. Staff is always friendly and everything I have had has always been good.

  • Tricia D.

Saw others had rated this place high and sounded like it had something for everyone. Tried the pancakes and they were heavenly; Light and fluffy. Potato chip chicken club sandwich was excellent. Best chicken tenders ever! The portions were huge and the prices very family friendly. The bakery case had many tempting looking cakes and pies. From reading other reviews we decided to try a cinnamon roll and lemon bar for the road. They were both a little disappointing. Both were a little dry and crumbly.

Another great reason to have Yelp. In Ralston for HS basketball and found Farmhouse on Yelp. Great wait staff and cool dining room. Could have just lingered by the pie case!! Tremendous menu. Went with Yelper recommendation of open face Hot Beef with mashed potatoes. Lotsa food and most important it was served fairly hot. (I count off big for lukewarm food). A great find a block off I-80.

This is a great place! Just moved to Omaha and have been here 4 times and enjoyed every visit. Friendly staff, great quick service, amazing delicious plentiful food, clean and comfy environment. Always leave super full and with leftovers. We have tried different items each time and have loved them all. Being in a wheelchair it is easy to get around and very accommodating, easy accessibility even in the bathrooms which is sometimes hard to find. This for sure is a place I recommend to family and friends. Also you can't forget to mention the amazing bakery smell and delicious treats.

Anytime I'm in Omaha, I go to the Farmhouse Cafe. It's good food, big portions and at reasonable prices. I have tried many things and haven't had anything that I didn't love. Their cinnamon roll with icing is freakishly awesome! Cheese Frenchies are delish. I get the potato chip crusted chicken sandwich most times and it's fabulous!

While FarmHouse does have a smaller breakfast menu, it is safe to say that everyone could find something that they like on the menu. My favorite thing about this place is their insane cinnamon rolls, they are HUGE and I usually end up taking half of it home for later. Several of their breakfast items come with a cinnamon roll, which is the best of both worlds. Te service has never been bad when I have gone, and the servers are usually very attentive. My friends and I always get an orange juice for the table and order orange beers, they are delicious.

Was with a large group, very nice waitress, food came quickly, had the Turkey, spinach quiche served with fresh fruit. Yum! Birthday girl got a very, light, heavenly piece of cake complementary. The bakery in the entrance of the restaurant is inviting and smells awesome.

Other than a 40+ minute wait, on a Sunday, which was to be expected. Decent food, kind of on the bland side...except for the cinnamon rolls...DEVINE. What got me was that we were charged $2.35 for an ice tea and $2.35 and they were refilled once....and both glasses sat empty more so than full. Not cool.

Farmhouse is my favorite place for breakfast and brunch! Absolute comfort foods and very affordable. The portion is quite big, too. They have daily specials for both breakfast and lunch so you won't be bored with the selection. I highly recommend the cinnamon roll :) we are talking about heart blocking and artery clogging foods here. My favorite is the tuna avocado sandwich.

  • Kurt S.

I have always heard that Farmhouse is a pretty good comfort food restaurant. My mother and I stopped by on Friday afternoon for lunch and it was so loud in the restaurant. And it also took a few more minutes than I would like to get a waitress to greet us after we were seated. My mother got one of their Potato scrambles and it was good, not great. You can tell that they use fresh ingredients but that was about it. I think it needed a little salt and pepper. I had the open faced hot beef sandwich. Again, good, not great. I just think it lacked some seasoning. The gravy was a tad bland and the bread was actually a little hard. But the mashed potato's that they used were delicious and the beef was moist and tender. I don't think that I would go back unless my wife REALLY wanted to go back, but I would try something else.

DO NOT GO HERE ON SUNDAY! I think things would have been much better had this place not been so busy. It was a zoo and they simply couldn't keep up. What the hell is wrong with you people, can't you find some place else to eat?! The food was pretty good, but my Dad was extremely pissed off after looking at the specials menu and salivating over the top two items as we waited 20 minutes for our flamboyantly rude waiter to take the order, only to discover that they were OUT of both items. You could have told us that when you gave us the menu, ya jackass. Don't blatantly advertise a special if you are out of it, that is entry level restaurant 101 type shit, it goes without saying. Also, the waiter seemed awfully pleased to be delivering bad news. At this point I was ready to walk right out of the damn place considering how amateurish things were running, but we had waited so long we were pretty much committed. The chicken fried steak was really good, fork tender and just the right amount of breading. My scrambled eggs were undercooked and runny - insulting. Asked for sourdough bread and received white. Coffee tasted like it was brewed with dirty dish water. My Dad reluctantly ordered some sort of healthy Sunday scramble off the special menu (remember, he had to make a quick choice since his first two choices were OUT), it had a bunch of bone-dry turkey in it, he was not satisfied. I would probably return again, but if I walk in there and see any sort of a crowd, I will just walk right out; they don't know how to handle it.

Love this place! We've had lunch here a few times on the weekend and the place is always packed, which is a good sign. I had the chicken fried steak and my wife had the BLT. Both were great and such large portions we couldn't finish them! Great food, generous portions, this is quickly becoming one of our favorite places!!

I'm told that this place is an 'Omaha favorite', but I don't really know why. I live close by, and I really tried to give this place a chance because I like to ride my bike to dinner (It makes me feel hip). The food is /always/ mediocre: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The service has been mostly crap every time I ate there except when I was there with a big group. Even my old favorite, the cheese frenchee was poorly executed. How hard is it to fry a cheese and mayo sandwich? Pretty hard apparently... This place sells itself as 'high end comfort food', but I would describe it more as 'comfort food as envisioned by soulless robots'

  • Zachary Sam Z.

Let me save you some time. It's Garden Cafe + food fried with potato chips instead of straight up batter. Fried with potato chips, you say? Yeah, that novelty is cool for about... the first bite of a chicken finger. It's an extra bit of crunch, and maybe a bit salty. But you know what I'll eat if I want crunchy and salty? POTATO CHIPS. The idea of using it as batter for more food adds a ton of unnecessary calories. This place went the way of Garden Cafe far too quickly for my taste. I avoid it. If I want Garden Cafe style food, I always go to Summer Kitchen. Same menu (minus potato chip fried things), less suck.

I love the Farmhouse. The food is fresh and delicious. The service is quick and comeptent. The desserts are decadent and made on-site. I eat here once a month as a part of a group that holds our business meetings in their private room. I have a hard time choosing from the menu because everything is absolutely fabulous.

I tend to think of Farmhouse fits into 'the Hickory Park of Omaha' category for me. People rave about it, and tell you things like 'you have to go there'... but that's not something I'd ever tell a visiting friend. The place is always packed for breakfast - but then again so it Village Inn - although I always find something to stuff myself with beyond the point of reason - it leaves me feeling greasy afterwards. Still, Breakfast is the only meal I would go to Farmhouse for. I'd recommend the cinnamon rolls for sharing only unless you're feeling especially glutinous. And the fresh squeezed orange juice is good too.

I think it's the best breakfast I've had in Omaha, and I feel like I'm a breakfast connoisseur. I'm very surprised at the negative comments on here. I only go on sunday mornings and the patrons always seem very nice. Not trashy or anything of that sort. The service is slightly slower but that's because the place is PACKED on sunday with people packed in the entry waiting to get a seat. It's that popular. The breakfast food has always been great and others we bring agree. When I want to impress people with an amazing sunday breakfast, we come here.

Great place for breakfast or lunch. The prices are a little steep, but the food is worth it. I could eat here everyday! Defiantly check it out. Also, the staff is great to the customers.

While service here can often be slow, the amazing food more than makes up for it. Delicious potato casseroles, hot sandwiches, gooey cinnamon rolls and other delicious comfort foods satisify even the pickiest eaters! The Farmhouse Cafe easily has some of the best comfort-type foods in Omaha!

    (5)
  • Dan C.

Well the service was way below mediocre and the food was slightly below Denny's on a real bad night and it cost 13 bucks! Any questions?

  • Melissa W.

I really wanted to give the Farmhouse a good review but since there are only a few things on the menu that have impressed me I cannot go higher than 3 stars. My favorite thing on their menu is the hot roast beef sandwich. It's warm, flavorful and reminds me of home. I also love that this place sells homemade bread and has a fun country atmosphere but I do have some complaints... first, the place is always slightly dirty. Every time I've gotten any sort of bread product here it's been dry. Fresh bread should not be dry unless it's old. There are better places for breakfast in Omaha.

The cinnamon rolls are TO DIE FOR! If you like omelets, order the Gardener's Omelet - so cheesy and full of vegetables! Also, the general manager/owner (Dann) is a total sweetheart and his son is quite a hottie! :)

I guess I don't patronize the Farmhouse Cafe often enough to experience the mediocre service that everyone in this forum knocks them for, but to each their own. Yes, this place serves "comfort" food. It isn't supposed to be known for its healthy meal choices. It's an upscale unhealthy, buttery, gooey menu choice kind of place. Yes, they are ridiculously crowded for weekend breakfast/brunch times, (and I agree on the creepy after- church crowd) but the fact that those people are there and happily waiting for a table should say something. Oh, and by the way, not all midwesterners are ignorant, fat, or unhealthy. We do love our hollandaise sauce, though! San Francisco and Chicago (which is also in the midwest) have plenty of unhealthy eateries (trust me, I've been to them). My favorite appetizers are the fried pickles and sun sticks (sweet potato sticks), and when there for breakfast, I love an egg white omelet with ham, broccoli, onion, and hollandaise sauce. Their "honey fried" chicken is pretty good, too. And, oh how yummy their cinnamon rolls are. They are a little pricier than the chain greasy spoon joints, but the wait and price are well worth it.

Can't believe that this place has gotten such a low rating. We had fine (not extraordinary, but fine) service on our breakfast there. The cinnamon roll with icing was *amazing* and the rest of our food was also very good. Granted, we only stopped through and have only had one data point. But our experience was great.

If your looking for a solid, big portion, country style breakfast, this is a good place to go. This is a casual family place, one reviewer took cheap shots at the people here. If you go to a place called the FARMHOUSE CAFE your not looking for a Frensh Bistro.

I remember when this place first opened and I thought that it was some of the best food I'd ever had! However, the past two times I've visited this establishment, I was far from impressed. I agree that the food portions are HUGE and you definitely get more than what you pay for in that regard. The most recent time I visited there was actually today and the host sat us down at a table that had not been wiped down and there was still the previous customers signed credit card slip sitting on the table. I know that sometimes these things happen when places are busy, as I have worked as a server for a long time, however there were only about 5-7 other tables sat in the entire restaurant. Okay, so our waitress finally makes it to our table, picks up the credit card receipt and proceeds to ask us what we wanted to drink. She never really greeted us or even offered to wipe off the table that was obviously not clean. I ordered the hot roast beef sandwich and my mom had the tuna avocado melt. In my mind when a place is as slow as they were, these two things should take no more than 10 minutes to come out of the kitchen. After 15 minutes had passed, I asked my mom if it was actually taking that long or if it was just me and she agreed that it was taking awhile. I started to get the suspicion that the waitress had forgotten about our food and that it was frying under the heat lamp. When I glanced across the restaurant and saw our waitress rolling silverware, my suspicion grew stronger. She finally brought our food to us after 20 minutes and I saw right away that there was a thick crust over the top of my mashed which confirmed my heat lamp suspicion. I'm not a huge advocate of sending something back as I would rather just not eat it than risk pissing off a cook that has to re make my meal. So, I peeled the layer of crust off my potatoes and dug in. The beef had pretty decent flavor to it, nothing mind blowing, but not to bad. There were many spots where the meat was chewy and almost rubbery which was also probably a result of the heat lamp. After my mom and I had finished our meals, we waited about another 10 minutes for the server to come back with our bill, I finally got tired of waiting and actually got up and walked back to where she was rolling silverware to let her know that we are ready for the check. Instead of apologizing for making us wait so long, she brought the check and actually thanked me for coming to get her and told me how big of a help I was. Mind you, I am a server and have been for a long time so I have a lot of respect and understanding when it comes to a server making a mistake here and there. However, this was some of the worst service I've ever experienced, she never asked once how our meal tasted and the only times she came to our table on her own accord was to get our order, bring our drinks and drop off our food. Maybe my food would have been good if the server would have brought our food out when it was fresh, but I will never know because I will probably never go back there. Prior to that visit I had the Monte Cristo and was far from impressed with that as well. I gave it a two star rating because my mom enjoyed her tuna sandwich, otherwise it would have been a 1 star review.

This place has excellent vegetarian options, my favorite being the steamed veggie sandwich. My parents always want to stop here for breakfast on their way out of town. I have never had a bad meal here. The only bad thing about it is the morning crowds. Sometimes it's an extremely long wait for seating. Other than that, I love it.

I will now write a sentence no San Franciscan has ever written before: I don't visit Omaha often enough. Aside from being the home of one of my best friends, Omaha is home to two restaurants I love, for very different reasons: Espana and Farmhouse Cafe. Now, these two restaurants almost couldn't be more different. They are united only by my love. Every time I go to Farmhouse, I rediscover why, statistically speaking, people who live in the middle of the country are...uh....more girthy than those other places. In fact, Farmhouse IS the reason these people are more....husky than your average San Franciscan. Farmhouse is advisable only for breakfast, and that's the only time you'll catch me there. Gravy is used more as a lubricant than a condiment, applied generously to pretty much everything (I'm sure they'll put some in your coffee if you so request). Meat is more a condiment than an ingredient, spicing everything you eat. Portion sizes are Flintstonian. The food is good. Certainly not inventive, but that's not why you come here. You come here for 4 pancakes as big as your head, 3 eggs, 3 sausage links, 4 strips of bacon, 2 sausage patties, a landing strip of hashbrowns, and 3 buttermilk biscuits. And that's the kid's platter.

I can't comment any on the breakfasts, but I did stop here for lunch a few months ago. Totally forgetable name I guess, but I did have a nice big Rueben, at a place like this you stick with the local basics. The place was pretty packed, service decent. Like a fool I thought I could get a cappucino, no but they were pushing their flavored coffee. Who needs a whole pot of flavored coffee? It's next to this ticky-tacky gift shop which I suggest you don't waste your time in. They didn't even have the goofy Nebraska postcards with big ears of corn and such.

I would have given this place 3 stars since my salad was huge and full of greens (i have an issue with small portionsof greens) BUT I am absolutely positive that our waiter was on drugs. We were there for over 2 hours trying to eat brunch (this does not include the wait time which is negligible in this case) He was incoherent, slurred his speech, had sweat oozing out of every orifice in his body, and seemed to be eyeing down every customer for a hit of crack...This was such a truly bizarre experience that I actually considered the fact that I might have been the one on drugs, but alas I was not. SO if you need to score some crack/meth/blow go to the "farmhouse," because I'm sure our 'squirrel with alopicia' of a waiter can get you some.

Ho-hum midwestern "comfort" food. VERY creepy after church crowd on Sundays.

I was referred to this restaurant by a few locals. Although I have not been too impressed with some of the items on their menu, their bakery is quite impressive. Their Wedding Cake is by far the best cake that I have ever had. Service has always been very good, and portions are quite hefty.. At least go for the cake..

Farmhouse Cafe...you get two big stars because you are attached to a store that carries games, crafts and costumes. Our breakfast didn't taste very good but I did leave with a variety of photos of Santa and myself, so I was pretty satisfied.

For us, this remains to be a good breakfast spot. We are not fans for dinner...lunch is ok. This restaurant has rested on its past kudos for too long. The service is rather weak and pompous. They are not always happy to see people. The hostess is typically annoyed by those around them, especially people who care to dine. As for the food, the breakfast items are large and rather good. The cinnamon rolls are divine and gigantic. As for the salads and other dinners...they lack taste.

Let me start by saying that the Farmhouse is not a place that I would go out of the way get to. If I happen to be in the neighborhood, sure, I will stop by for breakfast, lunch, or one of their bakery items. Otherwise, there are other places that probably do a better job. I stopped in for breakfast recently and this was my experience. Service: On the Monday that I stopped, it was self service seating. Fine by me. The only worry I have with that is "will I get noticed after I sat down." We were noticed by the person wiping the tables who went and found our waiter. It wasn't really that long, but it always seems that way when you don't get prompt service. The server greeted us coldly at first, but I kill with kindness (and it worked.) On the other hand, a "regular" customer sat right next to us and was greeted warmly. Who knows. Our coffee came quickly and our food was served promptly, correctly, and hot. Back to the "regular customer" bit. It seems there were quite a few of them. The waiters were very friendly with them, laughing, joking, etc... I wanted that for me! Food: The breakfast menu is in my opinion a bit light on options. It has your standards; pancakes, omelet's, eggs meals, etc... It also included an eggs Benedict dish (a favorite of mine.) I had an omelet that was done well. The best part was that it was loaded with cheese. Very tasty. My wife had the Eggs Benedict. That was the highlight of the meal, all that creamy Hollandaise sauce and an added treat, asparagus! Baked Goods: The FarmHouse claims to bake everything in house. I have no reason to doubt that. The bread and muffin we had with our meal was fantastic. It was also accompanied by a homemade jam of some sort. Very tasty. They also have a bull bakery counter for carry out items. Cakes, pies, muffins, breads, etc... All looked amazing. The Space: The restaurant itself is actually a well thought out space. There is an enormous banquette running almost the length of the place. This allows for multiple tables with chairs on one side. It would work nice for large groups. There are also plenty of booths that fit 4 to 5 comfortably. If tables are your thing, there are a bunch of 4 tops that could be put together into a larger table if needed. The carpet may have seen better days, but as long as this place has been open, the decor still works for them. Tips: If the low rating scares you, at least TRY THE BAKERY. If your meal doesn't come with slices of bread or a muffin, order it on the side. You won't be disappointed. Conclusion: Omaha is a tough market for restaurants. The FarmHouse must be doing something right if they have been open this long. They have solid food and a wonderful bakery, if only the service would match, it would be easier to rate them higher.

The Farmhouse Cafe probably represents everything I dislike about brunch places-- loud screaming children everywhere, boring menu options, and unnecessarily large portions that make me feel like my arteries are automatically clogging. I get the appeal of this place for some people--- and the vibe is definitely very Nebraska/down home cookin like Grandma used to make. Well I don't know about your Grandma...but mine would have at least cooked the potatoes that were in my dish! Anyway, I tried approach this place with humor, and should have ordered something simple that couldn't be screwed up. But no....I ordered something called the 'Poor Farmers Benedict' listed under the 'Eggs Benedict' section. I was a little tired this morning, so I guess I didn't read the menu close enough and merely ASSUMED this would somewhat resemble a classic benedict with hollandaise/english muffins/poached eggs, etc. What I received was a plate full of scrambled eggs on top of uncooked potatoes heaped with bright nasty orange cheese. I also received a huge piece of toast. It was disgusting and really had no flavoring to it. Apparently the Rich Farmer's benedict is the one I should have ordered, but alas. The atmosphere is also kind of unappetizing. I can not count how many people were eating their famous cinnamon rolls (these things are the size of a bowling ball) along with their gargantuan, calorie-laden meals and it really made me sick to think how un-healthy all of the food is there. It's obvious why the midwest is prone to obesity, eating at places like this. Overall, Farmhouse is a breakfast/brunch place for people that probably have eaten 'down home cookin' kind of food their entire lives, so they don't know what else is out there. It is a place where there are crying/screaming children during your entire meal. It is a place for people who want to cover everything in gravy and/or cheese and follow it up with a cinnamon roll. On the bright side, the muffins and orange juice got good reviews from my breakfast companions.

I bought a load of take-out for a business lunch here. The menu has some unique one-pot-dishes and casserole items you don't see often. The food was fine. I longed for a little more seasoning, but I like hoisin and sriracha on just about everything. Most people will enjoy the food. But those looking for BIG flavor or refined cuisine need to stick to bakery items and move on.

I love breakfast and this place did not disappoint. I would have given it 5 stars if my omelet was a little bigger (did not like the open face style) and "chunkier" (too much cheese) but overall it tasted good. The smell in the entire building was fantastic! They were baking sticky buns, muffins, danishes, etc. The coffee was solid as well and service was great. If I lived in the area I would come here often.

Not sure what's up with the bad reviews here. We went for breakfast. Service was great, fast, and very friendly. We didn't go on a Sunday, but anyone who goes to breakfast on a sunday should expect a wait and a slower service. The food is exactly what you should expect, large portions, decent prices, 3 adults and two kids ate for 37.00 bucks. They even substituted egg whites for me. I would go back for sure.

Great local restaurant in the middle of town. We usually go on Sunday morning and the place is always packed. However they keep the tables turning and we never have to wait more than 15 or 20 min. Staff is always friendly and everything I have had has always been good.

  • Lindsay B.

Love this place! Right off I-80 at the 84th St Exit, big breakfasts at small prices. Far better than Bob Evans or those kind of places. Very fresh - great cinnamon rolls too!! And be sure to check out Mangelson's next door, it is connected to the restaurant.

The cinnamon rolls are TO DIE FOR! If you like omelets, order the Gardener's Omelet - so cheesy and full of vegetables! Also, the general manager/owner (Dann) is a total sweetheart and his son is quite a hottie! :)

One of my fav's!!! I usually get the Reuben but everything I've had is awesome. If you are planning an event order their wedding cake. White cake covered with strawberries. Yum!!
