Given all of the other reviews I've seen on Yelp as well as on other ratings services, I was fully expecting to be blown away by what was going to be awesome food at Choo Choo Bar & Grill. I was terribly unimpressed. It's average bar and grill food. They serve anything that can come off of a flat top grill or out of a fryer. I won't hold that against them as that is pretty typical of a bar and grill (after all, it is a "bar & grill" and not a "gastropub"). It does however limit their menu. I ordered the Choo's Classic burger (1/2 pound) with fries. The burger was well done. I wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked, but I also didn't specify. Burger patty was mostly bland. Onions had a strange texture. Not sure if it was because they were old or previously frozen or what. Fries were standard crinkle cut fries that come frozen from the supplier. Overall, the food was average to slightly below average. Everyone seems to rave about their buffalo wings, so perhaps they are the only decent thing on the menu. I'm sorry, but if you have 30 items on your menu and 29 of them suck, then I really don't care how good 1 of them is. So, if you're into dive bars and drinking domestic beer and you get the munchies after a few drinks, then order some buffalo wings. Outside of that, this isn't a place I would come eat at for lunch or dinner. Service was lacking. The two 40-something women working were more interested in chit-chatting with each other and watching TV than serving customers. I asked one of them whether I should get the pork tenderloin or the burger and she basically told me the tenderloin sucked. I'm guessing her employer wouldn't appreciate that much and while I like the honesty I don't much care for hearing that menu items at a place I am patronizing "suck." Iced Tea was disgusting. It obviously came from a concentrate and a poorly tasting brand at that. If this is your idea of what iced tea is, then do the world a favor and don't sell tea. You would never drink coffee that was made by mixing coffee concentrate with hot water, so why would you think tea drinkers would want to drink the iced tea equivalent of that? They have Budweiser, Bud Light, Coors Light, and Boulevard Wheat on tap. My burger with a drink, tax, and tip made for a $13 lunch. I expect way better for $13.

The food here is terrible. It used to be amazing a few years ago, but it is absolutely disgusting now. And it takes forever to get your food. I used to come in here for lunch and dinner frequently, but I won't be coming back due to the how long it takes to get food, the terrible quality and the higher prices. The wait staff is awesome, always friendly, and unfortunately, always having to apologize for the delays for food. This place has gone downhill in the last few years. It's a shame, it used to be such a great place to go for drinks, amazing food and great service.

Cool little div-ish bar. Reminds me a lot of a small bar back home. Wings were good, servers were friendly, and nice beer selection.

I don't mess around when it comes to hotwings. I will do terrible things, with socks filled with quarters, to bags full of my Ex-Wife's possessions, (had she not been tragically eaten by D'Brickashaw, the Ex-Wife eating T-Rex) in my quest for the mightiest, besterest hotwing in the Omaha area. I actually did research on the matter and found this place. I researched "Omaha Hotwing"...using the interwebz...Google'd that...no shame. Making single and enjoying it look good. So I got wind of this place and made a mission of it. I called a nearby friend to accompany there, along with his son, as we engaged in what would be called... (wait for it)...MAN-WING-O DAY!!!!!!!*trademarked. We met there in a little strip mall that's in the middle of a few more strip malls. Kinda like a Strip Mall-ducken? Deep fry that and I may consider that Godly. Upon entering the Thunderdome of the Wingolocaplyse you get greeted by the bar portion of this place. Its...bar...y. Meh. Not my concern. My trophy comes bone-in(don't go there). The bar is actually a small bit of this place. It's rather spacious and looks like it can take in well over 17 adults, 6 kids, and 3 midgets. We were lead to the side room, which I will dub "The Husker Shrine Room of Infinite Why Don't They Win Anymore Like All These Signs Say They Use To". This was a good sized room too. So much...Huskers(Hello darkness, my old friend...). "Place is fine, get on with the wings!!", screams the angry mob...fine...plebeian welps. As I said, I don't mess around on my version of Lord of the Wings. I'm Gollum, my prrrrrecious is the One Wing. One Wing to rule them all....So I need more than a tasting. I went full Bro-team and got the order of 15-16 (how the menu has it listed) with the hottest sauce it comes with...YOLO. More wings were ordered by my Wing Squad. We had a lot of wings. And under 10 minutes later we had a lot of wings before us. Good job. Now the wings. I read tales, legends, songs, homeless people ramblings, that these were up on the top of the Best Wings of Omaha. I'm happy to report that they are the OK-est Wings in Omaha. (Trumpets and Angels singing) Yea...they were ok. They were really good but when you come in with the legend of John Henry's hammer and turn out to just be really good...it makes it seem just ok. Let me emphasize: These are really good wings. But they didn't make give me the religious experience I was hoping for. They were just good wings. Then wings, themselves, were big and packing meat so yay to that. The sauce was fine and had an ok kick for being the place's Butt Burning Blood Farters. But that's it. They were just good wings. So...I have to say the quest continues. This place gave it a solid shot and they are better than other local attempts at my life. The place is nice and the service was great. But this isn't the Zenith of the Wingeth I wanted it too be. Still a good wing place. I'd eat their wings again. I just wouldn't go out of my way to drive to Millard, specifically for these wings. It's a good, solid attempt. I can't push it more that they are not bad wings...they are really good. They just aren't the Holy Grail. Sorta in the realm...Just not quite. I can still recommend it though. With good praise. It's not you Choo Choo's, it's me. In your facehole!!! Eat up, Minions!!!

I don't think I would have ever found this place if not for someone recommending to check it out. It's not to food or drink specials that will draw you in but more of the interesting atmosphere and excellent staff. The food was average and typical of any other bar and grill in town. The waitress was very attentive. She never let a drink go empty (water or beer), stopped by several times just to see how things were, and smiled each time she passed by us. She also gave us her personal suggestions on what she liked best on the menu. The look of the place is in the dive bar category for sure, but it wasn't as dark and dingy feeling as some other places. The place looks like it hasn't seen an update since 1970 and that's what makes it great! Karaoke was going on and it was not your typical ballads being belted out by drunken patrons. The songs ranged from a 30 something signing Peaches by The Presidents of the United States to a 70 something singing a German polka. In between we had a little Elvis sung by a man who was on a mission to entertain us with a lesser know Elvis song. These people sang their hearts out and it was really great to listen to! Don't walk in here expecting an amazing meal BUT do walk in here expecting great service and a friendly atmosphere. A great place to meet some friends for drinks and enjoy some karaoke!

Make sure to try the fried cauliflower! One of the few places in Omaha that sells them! Their wings aren't too bad either...

Wings are bomb!!! If I crave wings its Choo Choos. If I get them to go as soon as I get them in the car my mouth is already watering for the taste before I can even get them home. Great atmosphere. Karaoke, bands, keno, smoking room, great food and clean place.

Maybe 3.5. Bonus for really cleaning up the place. Bathrooms super clean (throw a coat on that door though ok?!). Food was basic good bar food. Had the train wreck burger. Cooked fine with good crispy bacon. Waffle fries where good. Service was sllllooowwwww. Nice. Friendly. Slow! Food not quite as hot as it should have been. Other in party's gin and tonic drink was all gin (I guess a good thing) but she requested more tonic and would normally drink 2 or 3 but only had the one. You guys are teetering on a 2 star review but keep improving. Great prices on the food. Will be back again.

In all honesty, there is absolutely no consistency in any of their food. Go in once the wings will be amazing, the next time they will be terrible.

Cool little local bar. Nothing special....just good folks drinkin' and conversing. Fair price ... fair bar food. Kind of the old school welcome home bar.

Wings are fantastic and plentiful. My wife had the BLT, which she said was good. All the staff were friendly too.
