High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Can't wait to go back! Tekken 5, my nephews loved it! Beercade allows under-agers until 7pm so my brother-in-law and I walked his two oldest up for a few games since its close by. While the kids loved the variety of games, we enjoyed the extensive variety of tasty beers on tap including some palate wrecking IPAs. My favorite :D On the establishment. They were smart enough to keep a similar set-up from the other popular place. Take 1920's tin from the ceiling, some old boards, and old games to go along with the classic Beercade sign and you've got a winning repurpose-styled tavern. Nicely done. The new soccer bar in the old location might need a little work though...

Stopped in during a pub crawl for the first time. Pretty cool concept for a bar. They have a nice selection of craft beers, and a good selection of old school arcade and pinball machines. If you grew up in the 80's - early 90's, some nostalgia will certainly kick in. Enjoyed a beer and spent some quarters on a couple games and enjoyed the scene.

Love this place ..Love the bartenders..they know how too make great drinks. Best night out in awhile.

Beercade is the bar that every nerdy/hip 25-45 year old guy wants to open. Located in a gentrifying area of Benson, NE, Beercade features all of the trappings of things guys want, while still maintaining an atmosphere that is friendly to both genders and families (children admitted with guardian until a certain time, else 21+ required). First is the decor -- very well done with a large video-game themed mural outside, and very smartly-done game-themed signage and tile-work inside. The tap selection is rather nice, with 15-20 items available, as well as what appeared to be a well-stocked full liquor bar. The game selection is interesting, though square footage allows for about 15 game machines, 4 pinball machines, and a skee-ball ramp, but it works for a place to stop in to spend a little time. We arrived during happy hour, which meant that our drinks came with a complimentary $1.00 in quarters (ostensibly $1 off tap beers, but really, what else are you going to do with those quarters but put them in the machines). We started off going co-op on the classic Simpson's game, and were doing well until an unexpected reset after the first boss effectively killscreened us. No big deal, but it would have been nice to get a bit further in the game I haven't played in ~20 years. Ended up playing a little pinball, and sliding in for a 5-minute game of Crazy Taxi in a full sit-down machine. Lots of fun, definitely a place I would be sure to visit when taking a little time on a pleasant, warm, Saturday afternoon. This is the third of a series of ~13 reviews about a weekend getaway in Omaha.

I like pretty much all the things about this bar except for the lack of tables. I was there a couple of times on the weekend with my husband and our friends. It's a good thing that they're busy but I didn't want to be hand-full with a drink in one hand and jacket on the other the entire time we were there till somebody seated left. Other than this small complaining, we enjoyed the drinks, atmosphere of the bar and bartenders who know what they're doing. Speaking of which, if you like a alcohol that's like a soft drink or want to try something that you can hardly have at any other bar but this place, order Rootbeer tapper. Many girls may like this one.

My husband and I visited here last month on a weekend trip to Omaha. The place is pretty cool - lots of fun video games and pinball. The beer board is easy to read and has a good selection. The only downsides are: no food and, given some time and effort, the place could be even cooler (some more decor, paint, etc)

Awesome place for a drink! Beercade has 20 or so beers on tap plus a bunch of classic arcade and pinball machines. While I wish they had some snacks or food available, it was great to have an Old Rasputin stout while playing Terminator 2 Pinball or Galaga. Beer Ball (skeet ball) was also a favorite of mine, which you can play for prizes like a dollar off of beers, a t-shirt, and more. Great place, would come again: for the ambiance and the games as well as the beer!

One word = TEKKAN I love beercade. You can't go wrong with cheep games, 1$ bags of popcorn, quality drinks, and a good time. I'd probably still come here only for the games. This place has all the old school machines - from pinball to street fighter to skee ball to, of course, tekkan. The downstairs area allows you to purchase a wristband for a few bucks and gives you access to unlimited games (and Wii) and also has a full bar. Upstairs has a wide array of beer on tap and they carry midori instead of cheap melon liqueur, which for me is awesome. The couple of times I've gone, they catered Chinese or deli sandwiches which is a plus. They also have a hand sanitizer stand = a super plus. Games are 50 cents and service is quick and friendly. Also, I love that this place doesn't blast music, so you can actually hear yourself talk or think. Fun and friendly crowd, good pit stop in Benson.

I really like Beercade a lot. Makes for a great after-dinner activity if you're in the Benson area. We've been here a handful of times and will continue to go back. They change up their beers it seems every time we've been in there. I sampled the Heifferweizen and my husband got the Radler, which was pretty tasty. They have a variety of beers and something for everyone. They also have a variety of games including pin-ball, skew-ball, shooter games, driving games, and classic arcade games (Mario Bros, Pacman, Etc.). Definitely a great time and inexpensive compared to places such as Dave and Busters.

I love Beercade! What a fun bar!.....but I think that when you are in your mid 30's, you are no longer cool enough to fit in here (I fit that demographic, unfortunately, haha! Also, try to the 'Blinky' shot. The best.

  • Kurt S.

My wife and I went to Beercade a couple weeks ago and it was a blast! They had different beers since I last visited Beercade last year so I had to analyze the current beer menu. I decided to try the Radler, which was amazing and it opened my eyes to the world of Radler beers. their happy hour is awesome too. I believe they give you a dollar of quarters to play with when you order a drink during their happy hour times, which I don't remember that they are. The games are always fun. They are priced at the perfect price point, 25 cents to about a dollar per play. They also have some great oldie video games like Galaga that I LOVE. All in all, this place is always a blast to go to and I can't wait to go back.

This place is my new favorite bar. Lots and lots of different beers to choose from and reasonable prices and good service. The games are what makes it fun. Most that I played were only .25-.50 per play which I thought was amazing. They have everything from Skee Ball to The Simpsons to Galaga to Crazy Taxi and even Tekken and Street Fighter. Tons of pinballs machines to play also. I would say the only downside is trying to find parking but that's pretty much anywhere in Benson. Will be back for sure!

My kind of place. Nostalgic video game and beer!! Wish i could rent a room overhead. This was my first time coming to the new location and was nice to see one of the same bartenders from over a year ago. (Why have I not been to the new location sooner?) Happy hour is great and I ordered a pizza from down the street and had it in the new booths. Really great Idea. cant wait to go back and play some more old school games and some pinball.

Beercade takes me back to my childhood days, playing arcade games after school with my grandparents since they would pick me up from school and take me for a snack and a few arcade games. This nostalgia lives on in Beercade, a craft beer establishment that makes a night out more than just drinking. No real food here (popcorn anyone?) but some great beer choices and mixed drinks. They have all my favorite childhood games such as mortal combat, street fighter, pinball galore, pac man etc. You'll need some cash to exchange for quarters, and the machine only takes $1, $5. Alternatively you could come prepared with a roll of quarters or go to the basement for $3 all you can play for 3 hours. There are enough games down there to keep you occupied for 3 hours and you can even sit on a couch and play console games like Wii Mario cart with your friends on the big screen. There is a separate but smaller bar downstairs and it's own set of bathrooms. A very unique and fun concept for your inner child's night out.

This place is so much fun. The best part is it's $.25 to play the Simpsons game :). No but seriously this place is pretty fun and they have some good beer specials as well as friendly service.

Beercade is a good place to go on weekend nights - $3 free-play in the basement!

So let me get this right. Beer. Videogames. Great selection of both? Why the hell not? With 27 taps on hand and a selection of bottles, Beercade is one of my favorite places to lose my quarters. The menu is on a vertically hung TV monitor that can be updated instantly. The vibe is slightly hipster, slightly geeky, and slightly beer connoisseur. I have enough of one or more of these qualities that I can indulge in some of my favorite pasttimes. Out of all the games I like the ones that remind me of my youth. Namely all of them. Sometimes I play pinball and other times it is multiplayer 'the Simpsons' a la TMNT. I used to go to a place called Sega City in Irvine and all they had was games. If they had that concept and added good beer, they would have to move to Omaha. My favorite time here was the Stone takeover. 27 different kinds of awesome beer. It really didn't get better. If you don't like people you can indulge in the gaming and if you don't like games, then just sit at the bar. Downstairs has the earlier games like DigDug and Qbert, et al.... $3 gets you unlimited gaming there. TL:DR; great bar with some fun games. enough to pass the time until you want to go elsewhere. Pro Tip: Happy hour gets you $1 of quarters to throw back into the games, leave a tip, or keep

  • Will S.

Pretty simple concept here. A bar with a craft beer focus paired with an arcade equals: Beercade. For me, the best time to come here is during the day when the crowds are sparse, save for a few weird older guys obsessively playing pinball. Grab an IPA and go relive that part of your youth spent in dark video game arcades. While several of the games haven't really aged all that well (both in playability and the shabbiness of the physical game units), it's still fun to waste a few hours smashing buttons with your mind turned off. Know what would be super awesome? If they had a few cabinets set up where you could play classic NES, SNES and Sega Genesis games.

    (4)
  • Cam V.

This was our first time here and while I enjoy the concept, it was a little crowded (or I was MUCH smaller when I used to play arcades). I also learned that night that I really suck at pinball. Great place as you're spending an evening in Benson and passing through. They could probably make more money if they served hor dourves, however, that would also mean people with greasy fingers are touching the games all the time...ewww. Go check it out!

    (3)
  • Joseph L.

Came in on a slow Saturday night, waited for drinks at the bar in front of the bartender who was chatting up a cocktail waitress ignoring me completely. Like the games but the service is a joke

    (1)
  • Daniel K.

The sound of this place was a lot better than its execution. 70% of the games were less than interesting. They have an excellent selection of beer. This is a first date type venue... Things to do while allowing yourself the opportunity to put a few back and get a little handsy!

    (3)
  • Alicia R.

A cool hangout in the Benson neighborhood, it is a bar with 24 beers on tap (which would be enough to attract me), but they guild that lily by adding video games (including pinball machines, a bunch of video games that cannot name, and...[trumpet bugle]...skee-ball). They also have a nice long happy hour (starting at 2, through 7), which includes $1 in quarter with any draft beer. They sell snacks like hot dogs and chips...but how can you eat when your hands are full of delicious craft beer and a skee-ball? I will visit again when I am back in town, since it has something to appeal to anyone, even if you do not LOVE video games, they do have a few tables and a full bar to people watch and soak in the ambiance (including the great murals painted on the walls).

  • Dave P.

This place is perfect. Great selection of games and beer. Pleasant employees, good background music, and plentiful seating. I only wish that they opened the downstairs during the week (even if it wasn't set to free to play). Its super painful to know that there are 20 more cabinets down there I can't play. But I get it, they'd have to have an extra person down there keeping an eye on things too. I'm visiting from Seattle. I wish we had a place like this.

    (5)
  • Jim N.

Great and fun place. Only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars is they don't have limits on numbers of times you play games, and keeping people from hogging the games. Wanted to play a pinball machine, but couple not only kept playing, but leaned on the game to keep others from playing, when they weren't. We ended up leaving.

    (4)
  • Mike D.

Beercade's a great place. What's more fun than playing video games? Playing video games while you're drunk. That's right folks. Pinball, shooters, galaga, pac-man, all while you're wasted! But honestly, it's awesome. Last time I came with a couple buddies we managed to beat Crisis Zone. Sure it cost us a few bucks and a few more for beer, but we owned that $#!%! Lots of good beer choices, I had the Grainstorm Black Rye IPA from Boulevard since I hadn't seen it anywhere and wanted to try it. Prices are about average, a little more maybe. It's owned by the same people that own Jake's so you get a rewards card for both at the same time. That's pretty nice. Did I mention you can play arcade games while you're drunk?

Beercade was a fun take on a bar with arcade games, they have about 20/30 games and pinball machines.served with some suds went on a Friday after noon with Mom and Dad and you should've seen them.on Asteriods and the pinball machines haha kid friendly during hours we went 2pm til 5 idk about later times but a must go

Absolutely loved this place! Great beer selection, fun bartender. Lots of games to choose from. Wish we had one in my town!

  • Nicholas P.

Absolutely the best bar in Omaha. Great service, old school games, pinball machines for pinheads, and excellent craft beer. People can complain that they sometimes get crowded but that's because the concept and the staff make it work. Best time to go is during the day for the happy hour deal until 7pm and because you can better hear the games you're playing and not background music or people chatting. Super Fun Awesome Time!

  • Bryce H.

A great arcade bar. I've been in a few times since they moved into the expanded space and basically all of my critiques of the old space have vanished. They have much more seating and walking space and twice as many pinball machines! Nice bartenders, a cool happy hour that gives you four quarters for every draft beer you purchase. The bar has some really subtle and clever design elements that make it visually appealing and a perfect homage to all the great classic arcade machines they harbor. A unique bar in Omaha that is worth checking out.

I like the new bigger location. Nice atmosphere. Low rating due to the emotionally unstable bouncer.

  • Karen H.

Seriously one of the coolest bars I've ever seen! Gorgeous arcade mural outside of the building made me excited just to go in. Bar had a decent selection and I had a blast playing a bar version of skee ball and other arcade games. If you're in Omaha, it's worth checking out.

    (5)
  • Kevin M.

This has been some of the fastest bartenders I have seen. It only took 2 mins for the bartender to serve us after serving 8 people. Hands down the fastest in Omaha and its a win in my book. Only wish they didn't run out of Nebraska Brewing Company beer.

Love the new place! Great beers and drinks!!! Lots of room and brilliant video games!!! My FAVORITE BAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kara G.

My fav...pinball is my new hobby. Also live skeeball, trying to get a free t-shirt!! Service is awesome on weekdays but can be slow on weekends due to high volume. $2 tall boy Tuesday with Rich as the bartender is always the best night to enjoy a low key night here. Also Sunday Funday here is low key with fast personable service.

  • Taylor J.

This bar is one of my favorites in town. We love to go there with a group because there are so many games to play. Make sure you check out the basement games when they open it up, it will be worth your while. The bar tenders are also really fast and respectful.

  • Dana T.

I really enjoyed this place. They have plenty of beers on tap and may have found a new favorite beer! I really liked how kind the bartender was he was attentive and did his job well. The games they have were fun and a good time for two semi competitive people on a date. The night we went it was a relatively slow night for them which suited me just fine I don't quite like crowds. I loved the atmosphere The decor is beautiful and nicely done. Overall I really enjoyed this place and both of us said we would definitely go back!

    (5)
  • Matthew S.

Great beer selection, fun atmosphere, staff is very nice. Unfortunately the games don't work very well. My wife and I jumped between about 5 different games because they kept taking our quarters. The money isn't that big of a deal, but when you're trying to have a fun night, it's frustrating to not be able to play the games you want to.

    (2)
  • Cecilia H.

In a nutshell - go here, but go during non-peak times if you want to have your pick of the games. This place has been recommended to us for a while (new to the area). We thought about going one Friday night, but we drove by and it was packed - good for them, but we thought we probably wouldn't get to enjoy the game aspect as much. We went on a Saturday afternoon, and it was perfect! We were the only ones there, so we got to talk to the bartender about the history and future of the place, plus learn a lot about video game acquisition and restoration. The beers on tap were a great selection of flavorful craft beers. The arcade theme of the bar is carried throughout the restaurant (except for the bathrooms, which I think is a cool opportunity for the owners to explore). My husband and I were able to have our pick of the games, beat The Simpsons, and try out lots of others. I love how they have ledges to set your drink on right next to every game. We'll be back, but probably not on a weekend night.

  • R M.

Great concept and beer. They also play really good older punk music. My only issue is it seems their games start on a harder level. Therefore playing a game can be pretty quick. But a good spot for a couple of hours.

    (4)
  • L. G.

I always have a great time at this bar, tons of fun,the crowd is very pleasant plus service is super quick! You sorta forget you are at a bar and not a house party. They have a small alley in the back for smokers,no need to leave your drink behind. Oh and there are nights when they sell hot dogs ha!

    (5)
  • Sarah G.

It's love. The design, drinks, bartenders, crowd and games (obviously) all make for a very unique and enjoyable experience. It's like the classier version of playing video games in a friend's basement. If you're actually interested in playing though, I'd recommend getting there a bit earlier in the evening before the place fills up with game lurkers and barflies.

    (5)
  • Derek S.

Beers change frequently: Good if you like trying new and fantastic beers, can be bad if you like one specific beer, as it might not last long. If the games take a quarter or mess up, let the bartender know. You'll be refunded or taken care of. Don't try to top my score in Galaga, for it is not possible.

    (5)
  • Eric W.

Out of all the bars in Omaha this is one of the most unique. I was very impressed by their bar display. It fits the arcade theme perfectly, with the arcade style backlit signs above their impressive display of liquor. The selection of beer was also impressive, very unique beers on tap with some cool looking taps. As far as arcade games go, they had some awesome classics as well as a few newer arcade games. I had a great time playing and hanging out. Definitely will be back

    (5)
  • Phoebe R.

Drunk Bar Poet--- Most games are a quarter. (Except Skee Ball, the love of my life) A decent selection of drinks, but hark! The Bloody Mary's are awful, The Bloody Mary's are awful,The Bloody Mary's are awful!

  • Michelle M.

Beercade was just OK. They have a pretty good beer selection that can't help being dwarfed by certain others in the immediate neighborhood. There is a decent selection of games to play, including my personal favorites, Pac-Man and Tetris (skee ball appeared to be dead, though D:). I even made it to the high score list on Tetris although don't ask me to prove it because I couldn't figure out how to change the initials to MMS. BUT my cocktail (Princess Peach) was honestly lousy and tasted mostly like stale ice with a little peach schnapps. Hmmm. It was also pretty dead inside but it was like midnight on a Monday so I probably should have expected that! Definitely a decent place to have a beer/play some games but for more elaborate evenings I would head elsewhere.

What a concept! What an execution! I can only imagine that the Beercade is the brain child of a few friends talking about their favorite things, when one just happened to say, 'well why don't we combine them?' And the Beercade concept was born! Pluses, of which there are many: - A huge array of arcade games, the only drawback of which is the necessity of quarters, ranging from pinball to pacman to skee ball. - A fantastic selection of local, large and craft beers, putting most of my favorite local pubs to shame. - Quick service, a lively attitude and a buzzing energy that make it a great stop on a pub crawl. I would love to see what other fusion businesses could be made following the Beercade 'let's just mix them' concept. Because Beercade does it so, so well.

After stepping foot inside Beercade, I wondered why this hasn't been done before. As Kyle states, it is a cool concept and it is executed well. They have a number of video games from my youth and a pretty decent selection of beer. They even had some muchies should you get hungry. My only complaint is that I wish this place was a bit bigger so it could have a wider variety of games.

Pretty cool concept. And fairly well executed. There is a great beer selection, so points there. The game selection is mostly "classic" games or at least "classic era" for lack of a better grasp on the gamer lingo. In addition to the dozen or so video consoles there are a few pinball machines and a skee ball game! Some note able games (for my taste) were original PAC Man, Asteroids and Galaga. Definitely a spot worth stopping into if a good beer and some quarter fed fun are a winning combo for you!

Excellent atmosphere in the heart of Benson! Lots of games to play, and not long of a wait for the game you want. One of the games was eating quarters, but the bartender just gave us back whatever we lost and they unplugged the game. The people were fun too. Lots of beers on tap and most games were 25 cents a play.

I've been to this place twice. Both times I couldn't get a drink. Waited 15 minutes at the bar cash in hand. Walked out both times. Games would be fun if you could play one. I'm going to try again, hopefully I actually get a drink and a game in.

Beercade has a young good looking crowd. Very trendy! But we still enjoyed the games and beers.

I really do love coming to Beercade. I always have a lot of fun playing all of the arcade games. That having been said, I am disappointed at how run down a lot of the machines are. They should really have a lot of those fixed or consider replacing them. Otherwise it is always fun playing old school games and having some cheap drinks!!

First, i most admit I am not really a "Beer" drinker. However, I do enjoy ciders. To my delight not only did they have a great cider.. but it was on draft. Finally, I get to feel tough and drink my beer out of a mug. Great time.

What more can you want in a place? Great beer selection and tons of classic arcade games. They had a few of my favorite beers on tap. So i drank those and played Mike Tyson's Punch Out for hours. Perfect place for a grown up video game kid.

As a gamer visiting Omaha, this place is a must see. The drinks are all fair prices, just 4 dollars a beer with a great variety of flavor choices. The games are all also just a quarter or two. You can have a great time for a low amount of money with your friends here. Also, from the outside I was concerned it would be small and crowded. I was very wrong on this. It ended up being very spacious inside, and not too loud, I was able to talk to my family just fine! This was all on a Saturday night, so I definitely recommend this to everyone.

This is one of my favorite bars in Omaha and a must stop for anyone that comes into town, even for a brief moment. They have around 20 taps with GOOD beer. The cheapest you will find is a $3 PBR and prices do not go much higher than $5 or $6 on the rest of the good stuff. The bar is fully loaded with all the gins, vodkas, and whiskeys you would need. They also have a hotdog, chips, and PBR special for $5. The happy hour is 2 to 6 and it is simply, buy a draft beer and get $1 in quarters in return. As far as the atmosphere...they have roughly 10 stools at the bar and one long community table. It is definitely not a place you go to to chat and that was by design. They have a ski-ball table upfront, 4 pinball tables on the east (bar) side of the establishment, and roughly 15 to 20 video games that line the wall. Last time I checked, they had 76 arcade games. They rotate the games every couple of weeks, so the games do not get old. The games are all their original prices and not up-charged like Dave and Busters. The games are a mixture of classics from the late 70's to the mid 90's. It is like returning to the Tilt or Aladdin's Castle...but better because there is beer!

This place is great. The drinks are very reasonable and they have a fantastic selection on draft beers and all sorts of booze. That being said the best part of this whole place are the old school games. Most are only a quarter and just as fun as they were 20 years ago. It can get a little cramped in there at night. Its a very nice change from the usual Omaha scene.

About Applebee's

Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak.
