This is a good Irish Pub. Not exactly like Ireland but close enough in the middle of the US. Good beers on draft. Smith wicks, Boddingtons, Kilkenny and Strongbow cider. Then try the Irish Stew, hearty and rich, very yummy, you can tell they made it and its been cooking all day. My husband had the bangers and mash and I had the Shepherds pie. The bangers are good pork sausage made in house. The pie was good too. The mashed potatoes really made both meals. Rolls served with cinnamon butter were just OK. Skip the salad, it's generic American. As a pub, McKinney's is an 8 but against everything else in town, a 6.5. Probably would taste better on a cold night. We will try it again then.

I had bangers and mash, my son had shepherds pie. Both excellent. Great service on the patio. Just wish they could get rid of the flies, then it would have been perfect.

Mondays seem a little slow. No patio seating until permit is acquired. Service a little slow tonight. Beer selection is great and the Irish Mule put the Moscow Mule to shame.

They weren't busy when my wife, daughter and I stopped by for lunch this Monday, (only three tables occupied, and a few at the bar), but the service was one of the worst experiences we've had. When the server brought us water, I ordered a pint of beer. She must have gone by our table at least ten times to handle other customers, before bringing my beer 20 minutes later. Our orders took close to an hour, even though two were just panini sandwiches and mine was fish and chips, When they arrived, both my wife and daughter got wrong orders, which they didn't notice until opening the sandwiches after the server left. Incredibly, when we notified the server, she took the order my daughter had handled and delivered it to another customer, whom I'm sure didn't know it had been fingered over before they got it. Because of the mistakes and long delays, the server said we wouldn't be charged for my daughter's order after it had been corrected. Yet, when she brought us the bill, we were being charged for all three orders; I had to go find her and get it corrected. All in all, the beer was good, the food mediocre, and the service terrible. Next time we're in Haymarket, we'll go elsewhere.

I love Irish Bars, especially those that know how to pour a good Guinness. Lots of whiskey to choose from and they also have a pretty good food options like the Guinness Onion Dip, Fish and Chips, and Bangers & Mash. We had a private party on their upper level which holds about 30 people or so. Overall a nice bar in the Haymarket area that's not to far from Pinnacle Bank Arena to hang out with some friends.

One of the best bars in Lincoln. Great vibes and amazing service. If you come in looking to get after it a little bit I would suggest the Irish trash can.

Five stars for being a great bar with spot on service EVERY TIME. There's a great staff who personally greet my buddies and I every time we walk in. Lauren, Lucy Aaron and Tim are my favorites, The owner is a cool dude too. The food is lacking. Their corned beef is average at best and the sandwiches are nothing to write home about. The bartenders tell me they are working on installing a bigger kitchen and revamping the menu though. If you're feeling like having a good time order a round of Irish trash cans!

First if all, I have to say that we found the seating uncomfortable. The base of the high top tables are wide barrels which leave no legroom, so we have to hunch over really far to get to our food, and we kept banging our legs into the barrel, which was wobbly to begin with. While we were waiting for our food, the smarmy blond bartender decided to open up the large "garage" doors behind us. We had elected to sit inside, eschewing the available outdoor seating due to the extreme humidity that afternoon. As we were the only customers staying inside, it would have been courteous for him to ask our preference, but alas, he did not. After he opened the doors, we were immediately made uncomfortable for the rest of the meal, and were surrounded by a swarm of flies. The food was extremely bland for the most part. We had shepherd's pie, which tasted of rosemary, but nothing else. We had to add a large amount of salt and pepper to wring any flavor at all out of the dish. We also tried the corned beef and cabbage. The corned beef was served in a shredded style and was acceptable quality and quantity if not exceptional in taste. Unfortunately the accompanying cabbage and potatoes were dreadful. They were quite over cooked and very bland except for the awful after taste from...beer? Overall we prefer the atmosphere, the staff, the tables, and especially the food more at the other Irish pub across the street.

Reasonable prices and great beer selection. Friendly staff and cool outdoor patio. Perfect place to hit up before the game.

I came here for lunch on a Friday, and though never really paid attention to it when passing by, was decently surprised by the food! I ordered the turkey panini with fries and the portion itself was huge, so I finished the sandwich and maybe two of the fries. The fries were interestingly shaped and pretty good (idk how to provide opinion on fries, lol) and I liked the panini, as well. Can't say much about drinks since we didn't have any, but service was 10/10 and food was good, too!

My old review spoke negatively about the food. I haven't eaten here in awhile so I can no longer speak of the food. It sounds like they've changed the menu and it isn't as bad. 5 stars for one of my favorite places to get a drink. Awesome vibes, awesome bartenders, cool owner. Everything you can want in a bar. Prices can get high but hey, you're not on O street. Have a trash can for me. Brat

Stopped in for drinks and was pleasantly surprised at the wide selection! The hot buttered rum drink was amazing!! Their house butter mix was amazing on a cold day!!! Wait staff was very pleasant and their prices were really reasonable!! It was clean, warm, and welcoming!! The Black and Tan was one of the best that my husband had, had!! Great selection of beers and mixed drinks! I can't wait to go back and try the food when I'm back in town !

We just made a quick stop into this cozy little spot, but had such a great experience- I HAVE to YELP it up! Although this place is ground-level, once you head to the bar you might really feel like you're in an authentic basement bar in Dublin. The bartenders were uber-friendly, and made us feel welcome from the minute we walked in. This place has an impressive whiskey and beer selection, and even has some fun drink specials. We tried the "Breakfast Shot" on Sunday special for $4. It was a combo of Butterscotch Schnapps and Honey Whiskey with an OJ chaser. Strangely amazing! I could have wasted the day away in this homey spot if I wasn't careful, be warned Next time we'll come back for the food- the Guiness Onion Dip looks too interesting to pass up! The bartender told us they'll have some amazing St. Patty's day food- so give it a try!

It's not bad, but I much prefer McFarlands across the street. However it's got a fun atmosphere and the service has always been good. It's a smaller restaurant too, so anytime I've gone with a larger group I always go earlier to make sure there is enough space.

Good Irish pub! Came here on a Saturday night and received great service. The girl who waited on us was very knowledgable about all the beverages they offered. They carry a perky banana nut bread beer that I highly recommend you try! Also patio seating is offered which is always a plus in my book.

Stopped in for a drink on the way to another gathering and we were very pleasantly surprised. There is a great selection of both beers on tap and by the bottle. Of course, with an Irish theme like "McKinney's", there was a heavy emphasis on Guinness. They also have a very nice selection of signature mixed drinks to offer. Since it was cold out that might, we tried the hot buttered rum (and they make their own butter concoction in house). It was absolutely delicious and I would recommend it to any adult wishing to warm up with a delightful drink. I can't wait to go back and try the food next time!

I stopped in one night for the shepherd's pie which is a great way to judge an Irish bar. I found the dish to be lacking in flavor. Though it was supposed to be lamb I had a hard time discerning any lamb flavor which is typically distinct enough to pick out. Also the mash on top had a weird floury consistency and was not properly singed on top. What made up for a C-grade dish was the friendliness of the staff and some of the fun drink concoctions they put together. It's a good bar for having a few pints and making some conversation. If you are not sitting at the bar and not drinking perhaps its a pass.

Rough. Won't be back. I doubt these folks have a clue about Irish cuisine. I think the stew was Dinty Moore? The drinks were fair Haymarket price. Nice gal running the bar though. Skip it if you are thinking it's any thing like brazen head. You'll be sad. ** a few hours later: really bad gastro issues. Never ever again.

Took my little 3 year old son to the pub, yes I'm British! We ordered the Fish n Chips and Bangers n Mash. The Bangers (sausages to you yanks) were homemade and very authentically produced. The seasoning was pleasant with a light sage flavour from the bangers which were nice and crunchy after grilling. The mash potatoes were definitely homemade with the potato skins included, a nice touch. The gravy was savory brown with hints of onion. The dish was topped with some butter leaf lettuce drizzled in vinaigrette this added a nice zing to the meal. This was the first actual bangers and mash I've eaten in Nebraska that tasted authentic. Sadly the Fish n Chips were a bit of a let down, the oil used to cook the fish was not quite hot enough so the batter came out soggy. Also the fish needed to be rubbed with salt and seasoning prior to frying, this caused a lack of flavour. There were 3 good sized filets of fish and the potatoes were in copious quantity. I look forward to coming back to try their Sheppard's Pie which is amazingly actually made with minced lamb meat (not with beef which is Cottage Pie). I will be back and found the service to be prompt and friendly. This is a pub not really a restaurant but still impressive.

Five Stars based on the Food, tap Beer options and the Owner, Nathan. Was meandering through the Haymarket on a trip home this past weekend. I love seeing all the new life and businesses down in this historic area. Anywho, beautiful Sunday afternoon I see folks out on a patio and NFL games on the TV, the perfect place to stop. We sat at the bar, ordered draft beers first n got the menus. We ended up ordering Guinness Onion Dip, Bangers and Mash and a coup of Stew to go with. Everything was perfection- we were informed they even case their own bangers. Any way, then we got a drink menu and ordered some of the custom Summer drinks and was happy. The owner Nathan was working the bar and was great. Super friendly and knowledgeable. He made the trip fun and interactive. Anywho, then while getting ready to pay the bill we got to call a coin flip for Luck Of the IrishSunday- dollar off everything ordered. We called wrong but still got the deal. Love it. A place I would go back to when in town next. Keep it up McKinneys you'll do just fine down there!

Great food, great adult beverages, great service. Went in for a drink with intent of going somewhere to eat and ended up eating dinner based on great bar staff. Excellent upper-end pub food. We went with open-faced turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy; and, the fish and chips (actually baked fish). Authentic Irish beers, and specialty drinks (Irish Trash Can was great / lethal). They make home-made butter, sauces, tartar sauce, etc., so you know they are serious about their food. Excellent bargain prices for quality of food, drinks and service.

Went there before a husker bball game. Great atmosphere with a great game day menu with food and local drinks. Had a Bloody Mary made with local vodka and mix, followed by a few shots and more great drinks. The bar manager was a great friendly guy and I plan to be back soon.

Though it's not anywhere close to an authentic Irish Pub, this is still a great place to spend some time, have a few drinks, and get some food. The Saturday evening crowd was lively and everyone seemed to be having a great time. There are a good selection of drinks available, especially Irish beers, whiskeys, and Guinness combos (Black and Tan, etc). If you're interested in trying some of the more expensive Irish whiskeys without buying an entire bottle, this is a decent bet. The place was clean and the servers and bartenders never seemed to stop moving. Always busy is a good sign. Our server was extremely nice, helpful, and attentive, even though it was starting to get pretty busy. The food was surprisingly good, and I would have no hesitation in ordering the Irish stew or shepherd's pie again. After mooching a sample of the fish and chips, I found those to be good as well, with the fish actually not being over-battered, which was another nice surprise. For me, the wings were decent, but nothing special. If I was here and craving wings, I'd get an order - but my preference would be some other place for wings when planning ahead. Overall, if you're not dead set on an authentic Irish Pub feel, then this is a good place to consider. I'm sure I'll be returning.

Fun atmosphere, the entire staff seems to be genuinely happy to be there, even the bouncers are fun (one of them even photobombed us). The last time I was there they had an authentic Irish band playing upstairs. Just an overall fun place.

They have a good selection of craft and Irish beers on tap, which was nice. Definitely the best Irish beer selection in town, that I'm aware of. They also have a nice selection of Irish whiskey. The space is nice, with a small upstairs area that overlooks the rest of the bar. I was hoping for a little more of an old Irish pub feel on the inside, but they did a good job overall with the decor. They also have a outside space that looks like it will be nice when it warms up. It sounded like they are adding a kitchen soon as well. Hoping that the beer selection remains strong, as that and obviously the location near the arena make this place appealing. Looking forward to returning here.
