Showed up on a Friday night without reservations so we sat in bar at the door guys suggestion. Thought he was kind of rude about it. Within a half hour there had to be at least 4 open tables probably more and this is a small place. Very warm inside, probably should turn the ac up a little. Ordered an appetizer, some meat and cheese plate that was tastey. A guy other than what we thought was our waiter came two take our order. We ordered some wildboar bolognese dish and asked to split and they said great. So they bring it out already plated on two smaller dinner plates. Which was nice. So about 5 minutes into eating dinner our original waiter comes over and said oh you guys ordered 1 dinner to split ? and we were like yes. Nothing else was said and we continued eating kind of wondering if they served us two orders but Didn't really think so as the plates were pretty small, at least for a pasta dish you order anywhere in the United States. Food was ok but regardless of our issues would never order this again. So anyways when he brings the check he says well they served you two meals and you ate it so they want you to pay for it. Not word for word but pretty damn close. Very strange customer service execution. I paid in full and stiffed the tip which I feel bad about but good gracious it was handled so poorly It wasn't worth discussing. I would never consider returning. Too bad cause even though it was two warm in there I liked the intimacy and probably would have visited often for the atmosphere

Their salted caramel tart is insane. If I weren't so embarrased, I'd order an entire baking sheet full of these to take home. You're crazy if you don't try one when you come to Henry's! :)

We only stopped for drinks and dessert but it was a nice neighborhood place. My only warning nag is that there is no A/C so on a warm night it can be pretty toasty.

My wife and I are adding Henry's on South to our date night rotation, for sure. After reading other reviews, we made a reservation, which was a good plan; the restaurant was full from when we arrived to when we left. The host was friendly and the waitress was top-notch, but the food is what really matters and it was delicious. The four people in our party each had a different entree and we were all in flavor heaven. I loved the Hungarian crepes. The menu is smart - you'll see what I mean when you get there.

This is, by far, my favorite restaurant in Lincoln. I love the atmosphere, it's cozy, classy, and friendly. Andrew does a great job of walking around to all the tables and making everyone feel at home. The menu is ever-changing and exciting. I've never had a bad dish here. I tend to be much more adventurous at Henry's than other restaurants, because I trust them to make anything delicious. Also, the bartender is wonderful. I can't remember her name but she's always working on Friday and Saturday nights when I'm there. She always gives the best recommendations for wine and her cocktails are on point! I'm contemplating moving to South Lincoln, just to be closer to Henry's.

Service was good. No problem at all with the service. The food was edible but not any better than you would get at a school cafeteria with fancy plates. Wife had the chicken. It had to be buffalo sauce on it. My friend had some walnut linguini stuff not impressed. I had wild boar. Just like grandma's goulash left overs. My other friend had ox tail it was really pretty good. Won't go back. 3 out of 4 is bad.

I absolutely love Henry's. I've had the oxtail, steak, crepes, and meat board. I've also tried the lemon financier cake, the chocolate torte, and the sea salt caramel tart. All have been fantastic. The place is usually busy and the atmosphere is very comfortable. The potions are small and a bit pricey but worth it for special occasions.

The May menu is fantastic. My wife had the pork chop and green beans while I had my favorite Hungarian Crepes. I'm not sure how they do the red sauce for the Crepes but it's the best. And the bruschetta appetizer is great. The personalized service is worth going back. Always a good time here. Make a reservation before you go to be sure to get a table. The biggest reason we return to Henry's though, is the staff. They are simply the best.

Nice place. Quick and friendly service. Fairly priced and food was delicious, hot, and good portions. Good wine selections for Lincoln

On the road. Stopped and sat at bar. Good very special and wonderful. I gad Hungarian crepes and spouse had polenta and kale. Loved them both. Bartender such a treat to talk with. Made a great nada drink for spouse who was driving. Hope to return.

Our second outing to Henry's on South was just as impressive as the first... We had their house special bottle of a Napa Rose, cold cucumber soup, berry salad and grilled shrimp with mango salsa. Amazing flavors, fresh and just the right spices. Looking forward to being regulars. My favorite spot for a fancy dinner in Lincoln!

We walked in and were greeted by a very friendly hostess who sat us at our reserved table immediately. I had purchased a groupon to this new place quite a while ago, and we'd tried to get in on Friday but had to settle for reservations on the following Tuesday. Warning to you all: get reservations here anytime you want to eat (not just the weekends). The place was full and they turned lots of walk-ins away during our hour and 20 minutes in the restaurant. Our waitress came and took our drink orders. We both ordered Zipline beers ($3 for this awesome locally brewed beer, definitely a bonus). We received them and ordered a flat bread pizza for an appetizer. Then, we waited and waited....and waited some more before she came back to take our dinner orders. We waited long enough that I was afraid she'd forgotten about us entirely. We received our appetizer and were both pretty pleased with it over all. It had perfectly cooked steak, cheese, balsamic drizzle and awesome seasonings. However, the crust was pretty crispy. Borderline burnt crispy, but we hungrily ate it up with minimal complaints. It took a very long time after we had finished our appetizer to finally get our entrees. Our waitress never asked to refill our beers, though someone else came around once to refill our waters. Finally we got our meals. I had shrimp over coconut rice with a mango salsa. The rice was amazing. Well done on the flavors in this dish. The coconut shined but wasn't overpowering and the shrimp was perfect with it. The mango salsa was a great compliment to the whole dish. The gent had a crepe dish filled with slow cooked chicken and topped with a red paprika sauce. The two bites I had were pretty good. The chicken was wonderful but the sauce was a bit much. Overall, we both enjoyed our food but neither of us feel the immediate need to go back. The fact that we were the only people under the age of 60, the location, and the less than stellar service will probably keep us away. Add to those things the fact that you pretty much have to get a reservation to eat here...

Some small things to add which don't really change much but keep the restaurant from going higher in the ratings. One of our party asked for iced tea and was told it was 'out of season.' Excuse me, if you can make hot tea you can make ice tea, right: brew the tea put in ice. I wanted an NA beer, and was told maybe next summer they would have it. I think I was there a year ago and got a similar answer. How hard is it to keep a few NA beers around? One of our group noticed no salt or pepper on the table. I guess the cook thinks everyone should like the food exactly the way he spiced it. My wife asked for some bread and the waiter thought he could find some extra which he did. He also said he thought the olives he brought at the beginning was a good substitute. My wife wanted the bread with the meal, not as an appetizer. In spite of these quirks the main dishes were very good, service was fine, and prices reasonable. Portion size is such that it is unlikely that you will need a doggy bag.

My wife and I love Henry's. The menu is amazingly well crafted and rotated frequently. The wine selection is one of the best in town and always improving. The ambience is exactly what the bistro is, a small niche eatery with a macro-based culinary worldview. We've never had a bad experience, and we show up with high expectations! If you're looking for an Applebee's price and portion, Lincoln has plenty. Henry's is for the foodie without the pretention.

Some friends and I walked in around 9:30 and had amazing service from the bartender and what I think was the manager. Had a bottle of wine. Manager, I think, brought us some olives that were great. Here is where this experience turns. The Owner. This guy had apparently had someone pee in his Cheerios that day. As we were the only people left in the place we had just finished our first and only bottle. As we asked for another from either the bartender or the manager, the owner from across the room yells "No! Closing time, gotta go!" Now, I can understand if it was 1am or even midnight but this was around 10:30. I'm sorry for trying to give you my money. I have worked in foodservice for many years and this was mind blowing. You own a restaurant, you do not get to go home early on a Saturday night. That's how it works. Also if you are going kick your paying customers out, you shouldn't be pouring drinks to your staff that just ended their shift. Your staff is great, and you sir, are not.

excellent food, even some vegetarian options for those who are not meat-eaters. i had to spaghetti squash and i just absolutely inhaled it and i am not normally a fast eater but it was sooo good. huge selection in both wine and beer including local brews so it can be hard to choose which ones you want. at least it was for me since there were so many high-quality wines and beers to pick from.

Great pace to a meal. Liza was our server and performed excellently in our party of six. We ate the Greek plate, Margherita flatbread for appetizers and had the French onion soup, all were excellent. I had the Flat iron steak and macaroni and cheese, extremely happy with both. For dessert we had the Cheesecake and salted caramel chocolate tort which were fantastic. The cheesecake was fresh and amazing. Wonderful experience and excellent food. Would return.

Second time here. Service was MUCH better than the last time I was here. Ran like a well oiled machine with us being a table of 6. All apps ordered, French onion soup, flat iron steak and salted caramel chocolate tart. Everything was phenomenal! Hungarian crepes remain absolutely the house favorite. Leeza our server was fantastic. Can't wait to come back.

I went to Henry's the other week to meet up with some friends. The place was packed and they had managed to get a spot at the bar. You need to make reservations any day of the week. They probably can only serve 50 people at a time. The kitchen is open air but the restaurant is intimate in size. The place is connected to a wine shop and an art gallery (which just opened). My party of 5 all ordered a variety of drinks from cocktails to beers. Everything we had was great. They offer wide selection of wine and beer and a moderately sized bar. The appetizers were pretty much gone when I got there but they sounded good. I ordered the baby back ribs which were really good! They do have a bit of a kick to them. (Someone on here complained about them being too spicy...Hello?!?! It's BBQ, what do you expect?) Other folks in my group got the mac and cheese (very tasty) and some fish dishes which were also good. The desert is a must have. Great cheesecakes and torts. Overall, I really enjoyed this place. I hope it makes it. I think they might have a few glitches to work out according to other reviews. I think the chefs and owners know what they are doing.

We had takeout from Henry's tonight. We had four dishes. The best was the savoy bistro pizza - it had steak and goat cheese and onions on a flatbread with a sauce drizzled over it. The steak was very tasty and the flavors were well-balanced. We give this dish a 4 stars. Unfortunately, it was all downhill from here. The next best dish we had was the Indochine endive. The dish was four pieces of endive with a Thai-inspired topping. Unfortunately, the downfall of this dish was large chunks of lime rind - note, not lime zest, but the entire rind with the bitter pith and all. This took away from an otherwise decent appetizer. We give this dish 3 stars. The hungarian crepes and the avocado and quinoa salad were our least favorite dishes. The Hungarian crepes were filled with chicken and tomato and topped with a paprika sauce. The ONLY flavor in this dish was paprika. The crepes were really too thick and led to a strange doughy flavor and texture - the texture was more like Ethiopian injera than a nice thin crepe. The filling had no noticeable flavor on its own - a little tomato taste, but the primary flavor was a strong paprika. We couldn't finish the two crepes between two of us. We give this dish 1 star. The avocado and quinoa salad was heavily overdressed, and had a strong taste of mustard. It had beans and corn mixed in with the quinoa, and none of the nutty quinoa taste came through. If anything, it had a slight southwest feel to it. Strange for a place that is European inspired. Again, we couldn't finish this dish and give it 1 star. The general feel was that these four dishes didn't work together, and generally, didn't work on their own (other than the pizza). The ordering process was a bit confusing. The young woman on the phone didn't know if the restaurant did takeout (although it had just been posted on the Facebook site that they did), she didn't know when to tell us when to pick up our meal, and they weren't quite ready for us when we arrived to pick it up. We are disappointed because we had really hoped that a good local place would take over for Caffe Italia which had been a favorite.

I've been to Henry's three times so far and every experience was wonderful. They are pretty busy most of the time, so reservations are recommended. I had a reservation and went with a group of four on one occasion, on the other two occasions I went with one other person and we sat in the bar area with no reservation. The food is excellent. Everything I have tried was delicious, but the swordfish steak stands out the most. The drinks and the service were also really good. Henry's has a small-plates theme, and we typically ordered about 1.5 dishes per person. The portions are great though, and I really would have been satisfied with a salad and only one plate of a main-course. Overall, I'd definitely recommend giving it a try!

My friend and I decided to try Henry's on South because they advertised a great happy hour on their website. When we got to the restaurant, however, we were told that there wasn't a happy hour. I pulled up the website on my phone and showed the manager (owner?) who said that the info was incorrect. He was ready to leave it at that, but I pressed a bit (indicating that we only came because of it), and only then did he offer to honor the happy hour prices. That was a weird experience in customer service. One would expect him to immediately honor what was advertised. We then ordered an appetizer, and our server brought out the wrong one. We were hungry, so we said we would just take the one he brought. He did take the price off our check though. The appetizer we ended up with was a meat and cheese plate... pretty hard to mess up. I had the mac and cheese, which was bland. My friend had the Hungarian crepes, which were decent. To tell you the truth, it was difficult to even focus on our food. The restaurant is small and the open kitchen is right there next to the dining area. It was HOT, so hot that I had to step outside for a moment to cool off. I was hoping for more with Henry's, since it is in my neck of the woods, but the overall experience was just "meh." I doubt I'll go back.
