Best Mex food in Kearney. Prices are good. You can order in Spanish. It's packed during the busy hours and can seem almost claustrophobic at times, so if quiet and spaciousness are required for you then this isn't the pace. But if you can live with some bustle, you won't be disappointed.

We had Tacos De Carne Asada and husband had Enchiladas Suprema. Both were very good. Very reasonable, very tasty. We would eat here again and recommend to others.

Hey, this is Nebraska not Taos NM, so get real about "Mexican" food. Tasty, fresh, good to very good service, very mild, and reasonable. I'm a fan (but I'd rather eat in Taos!). I requested verde instead of cheese sauce, and that was no problem. Everything was very fresh and quite tasty. Next time I am in the area, I'll stop by again.

Lunch here today and was quite good. I asked for fresh jalapenos deep fried and got a nice portion of 7 large beauties. Wife had a nice burrito which was very good. I had tacos. Real good service. I am constantly surprised that quite a few Mex restaurants actually DO NOT have fresh jalaps. Well this place does and they did a great job. Overall, the food quality here was very good.

Decent food for the price. Service was good and friendly. Compared to El Potrero (also in Kearney), this pales. Margarita lacked flavor and salsa is just ok.

For Kearney, Nebraska, this is as authentic as you'll get. I only order the tacos Guadalajara since it's very similar to authentic Mexican tacos. I'm from Southern California so I'm a Mexican food snob and this place is alright. If you want more authentic Mexican food, you'll have better luck at La Mexicana in grand island or just go to lincoln or Omaha.

I had the tacos de carne asada. They were pretty authentic and very good! I had 3 tacos with fresh pico de gallo. They were very filling, I could only eat 2! It came with refried beans, which I was not too impressed with. I wanted to order horchata, but they were out :( the food came out pretty quickly and the service was decent. I would come back.

Mediocre food and shoddy service. Ate here twice. First time was for lunch. The food was passable and the service was prompt in a lunch place get-em-in and get-em-out sort of way. When I returned for dinner several weeks later, the guy who would be my waiter was on my side of the counter with his back to me, talking to the host. When I told the host I was "for here", the waiter, without turning around or acknowledging me, took a menu and walked to the table between two occupied tables (one of which was very loud) and tried to seat me there. Since the restaurant was nearly empty, I asked to sit at a quieter table and I moved. I ordered the carnitas, which were disappointing. They weren't nice and tender, nor did they have the nice caramelized bits that make carnitas so wonderful. They were also too salty and I'm a big fan of salt. When I wanted some hot salsa, I gave up on waiting for my waiter to come check on me and I hunted him down and found him sitting in a booth, playing with his phone. By that time, another waiter had seen me and I asked him for the salsa instead of my waiter. By the time I was done eating, I couldn't wait to get out of there. Between the bad food and horrible service, I was so done with this place, I couldn't pay my bill and get out fast enough. I'm all about cutting Nebraska some slack in the Mexican food department, but there is no excuse for such poor service!

I'd probably only give it 4 stars compared to better Mexican in other cities, but seeing El Maguey with more stars made me a bit crazy. Best Mexican in Kearney. Order the real food - the shrimp, fish, and pork dishes. Standard "Mexican" is good too, but they seem to put more effort into the main courses. Oh, and always ask for the hotter sauce with the chips. It's much better. maybe if enough of us ask for it, they'll start to make it the normal fare.

For Kearney, this is the place we go. Service is all right, good beer and drink specials. Huevos rancheros [you have to ask for it] is very good for the hangover. Food is quick and hot. Overall, nothing fancy, but they get the job done.

Best Mexican food in Kearney for sure. I've been here twice and I got the carnitas the first time, which were extremely well prepared, maybe a little too much fat on the plate, but other than that it was well flavored and very good. The second time I went in here I figured I'd try something different so I went with the carne asade plate. It was OK, the meat was pretty tough in some spots which i can tolerate from a cheap cut of beef, but the flavoring wasn't where I thought it should be... All in all I'd say this is a perfectly acceptable place to get a decent Mexican meal in central Nebraska.

Service is abrupt to the point of rudeness---drinks are nearly slammed down on the table--I ordered oysters on the half shell--I know What was I thinking??? Anyway they were served over a few ice cubes and wilted lettuce--and they were Warm Update have been back several times and ordered Mexican dishes and all were good. Service better and I recommend . this place

It gets 5 stars because for Kearney NE it is their 5 star Mexican restaurant. Margaritas A+, authentic Mexican food B+, the person from Texas who probably thinks Tex-Mex is authentic Mexican food you get a C- The staff is friendly, it is a bit crowded, but the food is great.

Average Mexican food. But the prices and service is what really keeps me coming back. It's probably the best Mexican food in Kearney, but I still wouldn't go out of my way to eat here unless I was craving Mexican.

We were looking for a place to eat while visiting in Kearney, and decided we'd give San Pedro a try. Being from Texas, it is hard to find Mexican food here in the Midwest that really measures up to many of establishments back home, but we figured it was worth a shot. The restaurant was clean, and the staff was courteous if not particularly outgoing. For a Friday night, it was not very crowded. Chips and salsa, of course, are brought out; the salsa, alright, if somewhat a little strangely sweet and almost no heat; the chips, clearly the cheapest money can buy. I ordered Nachos Fajitas, which were actually pretty good (besides the chips). My wife ordered cheese enchiladas, but was brought beef, which my wife ate anyway even though they offered to correct the error. They were so- so at best. Overall, I'd say tolerable, okay, ... fairly unspectacular, but again, there are not a lot of options around as far as Mexican food.

Fantastic food and service. The chile verde (pork) and chile rellenos are outstanding. We stopped here on the way back to Colorado from the East Coast and were extremely happy. You'd think most Mexican restaurants would be able to make good chips and salsa, but San Pedro truly does them right. Light touch of cumin in the salsa ads an extra touch. Not a great selection of beers on tap (but yes on Dos Equis).

Chile Verde was excellent, chile relleno not so much... Prices were reasonable... hard to imagine there is better mexican food in Kearney NE

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Kearney. The only reason I give it 4 stars is the place is somewhat cramped and the service can be a little slow during the busy times. Otherwise they have great tasting food and a wide variety of items on the menu. They also have cheap margaritas on Fridays and Saturdays!

It is not hard to find "ok" Mexican food. This place rates a little higher than ok. The homemade salsa (though a bit mild) was great, and the chips were homemade - always a place. By all accounts, everything people ordered at our table was good. My chili colorado was a bit odd, but not bad.

I thought this place was pretty good. The re-fried beans standout. No homemade tortilla's so wish someone would wake up in Kearney and introduce homemade tortillas! Salsa was decent. Prices are great for the food portions and I usually opt for the rellanos which are good as well. The margaritas are excellent as well.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
