One positive note our server was very nice and attentive. Friendly service! The food on the other hand is another story absolutely horrible stale bland crap. The salsa tastes like it came out of can and the chips are way to salty. I ordered the taco plate and the chicken was dry and bland and the vegetables were also very stale. The food here honestly made me sick to my stomach. Don't eat here you will regret it!!

I attend a bi-annual conference in Kearney yearly and a large of group of us usually eat at least once at Little Mexico in Kearney. It's easy to find and in a great location. The service, the staff, and the food are absolutely terrific. We have never had any bad experiences like the others that have posted on here. Not sure what they are expecting, but our group just loves to eat here.

I came here with a group of co-workers as it was close to our workplace. We were promptly seated and asked our drinks. Their chips and salsa was good, and one can definitely get full off eating just that. Their portions are huge so bring your appetite. One thing that could improve is offering a lunch menu with smaller portions. It is a tad bit greasy. Overall friendly service and the food was okay.

We have not been here for several years, but did lunch today. Just ok. No fresh jalapenos to grill/fry...what? This is a Mex food place and no fresh jalapenos....unheard of. Must be friends with Taco Bell...and the menu is similar! This is not Mex food. This is a little more than Taco Bell. Enough said.

Staff was friendly. Food was blehhhh. It's pretty much Taco Bell food with dine in prices. Actually, no, Taco Bell food tastes much better than this. The "spiciest" salsa they have tastes like tomato sauce. I know people around here don't eat spicy but come on! And I will never get over how they call the bar "el barrio". Yeah, I can see how they'd think barrio = bar, but it barrio means "the ghetto". One time we actually asked to be seated at the ghetto and they gave us the best "huh??" look ever. Anyway, food is bad.

This place used to be my favorite restaurant! I went here for years. But the quality of food and service has gone down hill little by little. From what the food used to be like compared to now you can tell they have found the cheapest ingredients possible to make the below average food. It's sad compared to what this place was like a few years ago. I keep popping in ever so often to see if anything has changed but I've been disappointed every time.

Good food at a reasonable price. Staff was friendly and attentive. I would suggest skipping the cheese for dipping chips. It's the same pump cheddar cheese you find at a gas station. That being said, the rest of the food was great. Had the shrimp quesadilla. Lots of cheese and shrimp!

Hubby and I were looking for an open place to eat on Memorial Day, and this was one of the only options in Kearney that wasn't fast food. We decided to give it a try. I think "Average" completely sums up our experience. There wasn't anything terrible, but there wasn't anything that stood out either. The decor was cute, the server was VERY friendly and kind, and the food was fairly normal Mexican restaurant fare. I've had better and I've had worse. This place gets the job done but I can't say for sure if I'll go back or not.

Absolutely terrible food. I'm not even going to call it Mexican, because the only resemblance is that they use something approximating taco shells. The "taco" I had here was horrific: greasy, overcooked meat smothered in--I'm not kidding--ketchup. I made it through two bites, and my wife did the same with whatever her dish was. Then we looked into each other's horrified faces and, without a word, stood up, threw some money down to cover the bill (though we should have demanded restitution instead), and left. Went straight to San Pedro, on 39th, and have never looked back. Now THAT is some damn good Mexican food. This place is an insult.

Absolutely disgusting food! Everything comes from a can and I'm not sure how they can call it Mexican food at all. Even the margaritas were disgusting (not sure how you can mess up a margarita, but it tasted more like a bad strawberry smoothie with no flavor). I will NEVER go back to this place. If you want good Mexican food in Kearney, go to #1 El Petrero or #2 San Pedro.

Not. Very. Good. I'd probably go to Taco Bell before here if I was craving Mexican. It wasn't the worst I've ever had but average at very very best. The worst part it everything you order is pretty much a la carte so you think you are getting these great prices but by the time you order a taco and an enchilada and beans and rice for what would be a normal meal ends up costing a lot more than expected.

To sum this place up in one word it would be 'horrible'. Having been born and raised in this area I remember as a kid our trips to Rep City to visit the original. That place was the bomb - just simply the best Fast forward 20 years and this namesake is nothing similar to the original. The chips and salsa are subpar and unfortunately they are probably one the best food items offered. We each ordered fajatas for $12-14/person. I was simply shocked by the little amount they served for the price and it came without rice and beans. The quality was just horrific. Having had shrimp fajatas at San Pedro a few nights before I was certainly looking forward to the meal after I selected the menu item. The portions of filling and garnishments were 1/3 of San Pedros. I will remember this meal for sometime due to the shrimp they placed into their 'fajatas' - they were much smaller then salad shrimp at 40/1s (think popcorn shrimp size and they tasted like they came from a can) - and there were like 12 of them in the whole thing. We also ordered an appetizer - the texas straws (like jalapeno chips deep fried) - they were good (probably because you can't screw up frozen food thrown in a deep fryer) but the qty was just stupid - think of a small fry at mcdonalds so there wasn't even enough to serve 2 people as a very light appetizer - even at non-pricy $6 they were still a genuine joke - Our service was subpar at best (we had to ask for every single thing - it's not that hard to see a drink is empty) - but the service could have been worse and been at the level of their food. THIS HANDS DOWN IS THE WORST MEXICAN IF NOT THE WORSE RESTAURANT IN KEARNEY. AN ABSOLUTE FAIL.

With a name like Little Mexico, there are so many possibilities. For example, you could hire a midget Mariachi band to go around your restaurant and sing to your customers. Midget salsa dancers. Little Mexico has neither of these things, but what they do have is decent Mexican food that doesn't cost a lot of money. I visit Kearney for business a whole lot more than I would like to, but Little Mexico is always an enjoyable place to grab a beer and smothered enchiladas.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
