Vinyl Taco Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Mostly seating at bar, which we like. Good music. Good vibe. We ordered four different tacos. Overall done OK. I especially liked the fried capers on one. Other than that the four didn't stand out as remarkably different or unique. Three of the four were too spicy hot for my wife. More for me! Beer selection is poor. Five taps with Blue Moon as the only "craft" representative - if you call that craft beer. Bottles only marginally better. No wine. Wife had (bad) Sangria as her only option.

Pleasantly surprised to find a good taco here in Fargo. The place was packed on a Saturday night and we lucked out with the only available table. Our waitress Danell aka "Nelly" was friendly & quick to help us. Upon our request for something spicy, Nelly suggested the chicken tinja which was excellent. I also tried the vegetarian & fish taco which were very good as well. The Carne Asada meat was not the thin strips I was use to, (which tasted more like stew meat to me), but my husband chowed them down. Coming from California we didn't expect too much from a Midwestern taco serving establishment but this was a treat. I have tried several places here in town and the salsa is the most authentic tasting one I have had since my move here 6 months ago. Great selection of music played on vinyl which the bartenders took turn throwing on. Atmosphere was really good. The only thing about this experience that was hard to get past was spending $3+ for a single taco when they're $1 a piece back home, but lets face it, we aren't in California any more. It may not be Grandma's 100% authentic, but it is THEE place I will be returning to for tacos from now on.

Very neat place in downtown Fargo. Best for a late night snack. My favorite was the fish taco.

I really love the food here. It's a funny space, with limited area for tables, and can be terribly crowded. It's also pretty loud, given the brick walls and generally hard surfaces, so not a great bet for date nights or extreme hunger--you can wait awkwardly for a table for quite a while. They have the best guacamole I've ever tasted--even my husband enjoyed it, and he loathes tomatoes. The tacos are small. Start with one or two and add on if you're still hungry. They only cost ~$4 each, so you can do a delicious interesting meal for quite cheap. The fish tacos are exceptional, with lovely crisp fish morsels. Servers have been friendly and knowledgeable. I don't drink at bars often, so can't comment on alcohol prices at Vinyl Taco, but if you sign up for text alerts you can get drink offers via phone (my free sangria was yummy). The atmosphere is funky, the soundtrack 70s, gorgeous bathroom, fun tasty food. When I can get in, I love it!

This place is fantastic! Fun atmosphere and staff, Davin is a great bartender and very knowledgable about Moonshine of all things! A definite must stop while in downtown Fargo.

Best thing: Raspberry margarita Worst thing: very small portions I went there with a friend and got a shrimp taco, the rice and a raspberry margarita. The food was fresh, but be warned, the portions are small. It came to $18 altogether, which isn't too bad, but I wasn't really blown away. Not really impressed, probably won't be going back frequently. Maybe if I'm in the mood for a light snack I'll go back, definitely not going there if I have a big appetite, those $3.50 tacos would add up really quick. Is recommend going and trying the raspberry margarita though, it was very delicious.

Love this place! The decor, the red sangria, the LP's playing.. The crispy chicken mango tacos are fabulous!

This place fits right in with downtown Fargo and is a good addition to get small plates late at night. The menu is fairly limited to maybe a dozen taco types and several appetizers, but everything is very fresh and presented well. The tacos are all soft-shell and small (and the price is too) so its easy to try different types in one sitting. The bar is full service featuring a wide range of tequilas. There are a few taps and several bottled beers. Overall, its a great place to spend some time while eating small portions. Not really a 'dining' destination as opposed to a place to hang out with friends. I'm giving it 5 stars not because it is a 5 star "fine" dining experience, but because it has character, is fun, knows its place and handles it very well. Plus the food tastes great.

A dope ass bar, with a killer name! Great ambience even on Wed night. Guac with radishes pretty legit, the Spicy Chihuahua was on point (pretty much a jalapeno margarita) the mexi mule also legit.

One of the most creative Mexican fusion restaurants in the area! LOVE, love, LOVE, their pork Belly taco- it's the only thing I've ever gotten here but I love their small dainty portions. Drinks are ok- don't waste your money on those.

Wao Im impress! The fish tacos are amazing! The Chicken tinga tacos are super too really spicy! The place was pack with pep but the service was really good! Right next to JL beers! They have a nice selection of beers and drinks too!

I just kind of love this place, as it hits my sweet spot. The tacos are flavorful, the beer is cold, and the music alwaysalways makes me a little nostalgic. The good: their chips and guacamole is fantastic. They make their own corn tortillas, and also make their own chips and guac, so you know it is fresh. The better: their tacos are all very flavorful. My favorite is the fish taco, with the fried capers, the pickled cabbage, and what seems like a yogurt-ish sauce. Warnings: they don't serve wine (there is a decent assortment of beer, bourbon-based drinks, mixed drinks, and moonshine drinks), they mostly don't serve Tex-Mex food (no big plates with refried beans, etc.), and this isn't a super-cheap fill-up. Vinyl Taco does a few things very well, and they leave the rest to the many other taco trucks/establishments in town. You have been warned.

Okay- these tacos are seriously amazing. I ordered two, but could have eaten at least four (or 10) more, 'cause they were that good. Great flavor, food came quickly, they do serve beer and drinks. Also love the records playing. Very fun.

Cool atmosphere, very small portions. I had to grab something else to eat after my lunch because I did not get much. Would have been nice to have been warned somehow that the tacos were mini-sized.

Best guacamole I've ever had! Shrimp, veggie and crispy fish tacos are all must haves. Delish!

  • James M.

The atmosphere was interesting. The food wasn't. Small portions and bland tasting. The price for what you get is also on the high side. I won't be rushing back to this one.

Grab some queso and chorizo and munch on their delish chips then try out the chicken and black bean chimi with the queso sauce. Oh yes! And, the Vinyl Sunrise drink is amazing.

I cannot get enough of Vinyl Taco. The tacos are insanely good, they are definitely my favorite in Fargo and probably the closest you'll get to street tacos in the tri-state area. I've been happy with every appetizer I've had and the spirits menu always has something great to drink. The music, the decor, and the location can't be beat. Vinyl Taco is always at the top of my list when dining out.

I really want to like this place because it's a cool concept but it just wasn't quite all there for me. The tacos are cheap ($3-4) each and have a wide variety. I had a carne asada taco and a crispy fish taco. They're both pretty small. The carne asada taco was one of the more bland tasting carne asada I've had but I liked the flavor of the crispy fish taco. The beer selection is small and the prices are pretty normal. (3.75 for 16. Oz PBR). The theme of the restaurant is kind of a mash of everything. Their logo is graffiti style and the inside is a mix of Mexican, Fishing, and Rock N Roll and the seating is very mashed together kind of like JL Beers even though they have more space. All in all, it's a place you should try for yourself because maybe you will like it, but it just wasn't quite there for my friends and I.

We had a few hours to hang out so we sat at a table and drank some beers. Good beer selection on tap and bottled. Tess was our server- she was super friendly and helpful. She was fine with us hanging out for a while not ordering. Eventually the food sounded too good to pass up so I ordered a fish taco and a side cobb salad- both were great with nicely flavored sauce and fresh veggies. I liked being able to order tacos singly. Amount was perfect for a late afternoon meal. Hubby had the chimichanga- had a tomatillo sauce that he wasn't crazy about. The atmosphere and mellow staff were nice and relaxing. We would go hang out here again!

I tried this place for the first time last night, and I wasn't disappointed (for the most part). The concept of the place is a classic rock-and-roll vibe, with brick walls (including Pink Floyd's) and colorful pictures of classic rock legends throughout the bar. The waitress was very friendly, and helpful when it came to the menu. The menu consists of a couple appetizers, and about a dozen small tacos. I was fairly hungry, so I decided to try four of their tacos. I had the Carnitas, Carne Asada, Shrimp a la Parilla and BBQ Pork. Each one was excellent, and a wonderful representation of what can be done with a concept like this. They all varied in price from $3-4 each. The place wasn't very busy when I was there, so the head chef came out of the kitchen to chat with me for a bit; really nice guy! I was slightly disappointed with their beer-on-tap selection (five, two of which were Mexican), but they do have about 20-25 bottles to choose from. Considering JL Beers is right next door, I guess if I wanted a craft beer badly enough... I had a Dos Equis Amber with my meal, and I decided to give their mixed drink menu a try afterwards. I had a 101 Sour (Wild Turkey 101, lime juice, simple syrup and hibiscus tea) and an Algonquin (George Dickel Tennessee Whiskey, dry vermouth and pineapple juice). Both were excellent, especially the 101 Sour, but they put so much damn ice in the glass you're actually only getting about half of what you're paying for, so I'd steer clear of the mixed drinks and stick with the beer. While the employees there (waitress and chef) were great, the bartenders were just ok. Don't get me wrong; they knew how to make a mixed drink well enough, but when there are just six people in the entire restaurant, you're the only one of those six at the bar, there are two of them, and it takes one of them nearly 15 minutes to ask if I need anything else after I've finished my last drink... I know this place is still fairly new, but the bartenders might need to brush-up a little on their customer skills. Just sayin'! All-in-all, I really liked Vinyl Taco. It reminded me a lot of Yayo Taco in Las Vegas, and that place was amazing! Another feather in the cap for downtown Fargo!

Stopped in today for the first time at Vinyl Taco for lunch. Loved the ambience, decore, the vinyls being played, the buffalo on the bar, the brick, etc. I had the gringo and potbelly tacos, along with the tortilla soup. My wife also had the potbelly taco, along with a fish taco and a side of rice and beans. The meal was a flat spice, which was the main flavor. The cost of the meal was a bit spendy for what we got. The highlights was the ambience and the music. Free Bird was playing while were there. THE best part....:)

The name does not blend nor does the food or price. The name does tell you everything though not worth a stop or your hard earned money. Too many other good spots to spend time and money at. So I guess iff you are in need of vinyl records spinning stop by? To bad they don't sell those? I though it was a food spot! That why I stopped. Very disappointed. It's not too good at that so as long as you know which of the two names you will experience and enjoy then give it a try. I had all I heard on my I Phone and a better sound? Tacos a big disappointment. Enchiladas only alright. My rice was cold black beans weak! I know I'm spoiled living and traveling through south and southwest. Maybe they can learn bison burgers or bison tacos! They will not get any more of my money. If you stop there and to the staff good luck you'll need it.

Vinyl Taco is a very fun place to meet for your friends for a cocktail and llight-fare food! The atmosphere is great with the brick walls, oversized wall hangings and albuma covers! I also apprecicate that they have two turn-tables throwing out the music that plays in the building. The booths seem a little small, but the table and bar add more seating. During my visit, I tried the Red WIne Sangria, which was very good. Especially if you like red wine, since it had a heavier wine overtone than I am used to. I had also tried the the On-Tap Margarita, these are fun! The medium is served with a 4-5oz glass and your own vessel about the size of a mini kietchup bottle. Vinyl Taco makes all of their own mararita batches and are then tapped. So the batches or kegs are not necessarliy the same taste. One could be more sweet than the previous. The bar staff are quick to try and remedy that though, if you have an issue. I also ordered the Chicken and Bacon taco. Although, the taco's are a smaller portion, they are very tasty! They run about $3.00-$4.00 and have about a dozen to choose from. Others with me had the fish taco or the pulled pork, and both really enjoyed them. We also shared an order of their guacamole that was really yummy! Very fresh and with a lime taste. The salsa's are great too! I will be going back to Vinyl Taco both for the music and the food!

I am going to miss this place when we move away next month. The atmosphere is fantastic, funky and modern. Food is always outstanding, though spicy. If you want to make it less hot, just ask the server to hold the Serrano sauce. The outside patio and garage style door is very cool.

Nice atmosphere. The Place looked very clean and well kept. The bartender was fast. The carne asada taco was good but not enough carne. The fish tacos were great. The tap beer was fresh and cold. I will eat there again when I am back in Fargo.

Ate here with a friend from Fargo, so I already had high expectation going into it. Although it's in the north, the tacos were fairly authentic in style yet had their own creative flair. The guacamole was excellent, and had fresh onion. We ordered Mexican Mules, which are basically Moscow Mules with tequila in lieu of vodka. Those were great, but a bit pricey for the drink. I was really happy about the atmosphere. They keep their turntables stocked with excellent records and have a pretty great music-oriented theme on the walls. My favorite was the silver buffalo in the bar. They actually have a lot of legitimately vintage items and explain them on the menu. I had the fish taco and the barbacoa taco. They both rocked, and their sauces made them taste unique.

I have eaten here twice. Very pricey and not so great. Last time a friend and i each got a drink - mine was bad and was maybe 5 oz (i think four) he got guac (which was brown and only half mashed) and one tiny taco. $30.... And i was reminded why I haven't been back since November.... I have been to similar places like this and loved it. They are doing it wrong. Esp their drinks are terrible, small, and not at all cheap! BAD combo!

Neither a restaurant nor a bar. Food is not good. Taco bell is tastier. Beer selection is limited and bar is not great for socializing. They need to pick one venue and do one or the other right. Disappointment on the delivery of a good concept. Great interior theme had me expecting great tacos. The food and the chips were average at best. Maybe the owners could go non-GMO and organic to differentiate themselves. Without great food this bar will be for overflow from HODO or JLs. A second or third choice for food and drinks in this area of Downtown. Not a destination restaurant bar. There are much better choices for tacos and bar drinks and socializing.

The tacos are a nice change from the standard fare. Great atmosphere and great service. Fun night out for dinner and drinks. Didn't like the fried chicken skin. Other appetizers were good.

Solid tacos, only place to get fish tacos in fargo. The beer selection is ok. I wish the hours on Friday and Saturday for the kitchen would be 12 but kitchen is only open till 11pm. I get why they are not open during daylight but it would be nice if they were. 4 stars because like I said solid tacos and service has been good every time as well. These to me don't have knock your socks off type of tacos. Would still recommend to anyone looking for good tacos in downtown Fargo.

  • Nate N.

Love the tacos! Small plates with small prices so I can eat ten of them. Fun atmosphere with a couple of turntables that provide the music that is a great selection of classic rock. Limited tap selection (not what they are trying to be) but a great selection of scotch, whisky, and tequilas. Check it out. Gotta have more cowbell!

My niece isn't even 5 months old and she has been kicked out of a "bar" (shocked us- it looked like a trendy, fun restaurant). This place takes it U-21 policy VERY seriously. Four of us adults, accompanied by the baby, were looking for a lunch spot on 4th of July (read: very quiet- the whole town was at the lake) and this place looked great. We were refused at the door because the infant sleeping in her carrier wasn't welcome. Slightly offensive, slightly hilarious, but all the way - we won't be back.

I live in the Denver/Boulder are so new sort of trendy restaurants are commonplace for me. I love Vinyl Taco and I really enjoyed my experience. Good music, good service, good food and the prices were reasonable. I had chips and salsa, the salsa was good but the chips were thick and I like the thinner chips. I also ordered fish tacos and they were very good, crisp whitefish with a very tasty red slaw. The atmosphere at Vinyl Taco is so comfortable and the people who work there are very friendly and aim to please. Then they spin vinyl of old rock and that just makes you want to hang out and enjoy. I love this place.

Amazing flavor for $3.5! Great stuff. If you have pasted them by you have made a mistake. The flavor is on par with top tier restaurant at a fraction of the cost. Small sizes make it easy to choose a variety. Owned by the same folks that own JLbeer.

Very cool place. They spin old vinyl classic rock records-- loud and cool. Think Hard Rock Café only it is, thankfully, not corporate. The taco's were super yummy. I got a very cool sweatshirt to bring back to my honey--- TA/CO in AC/DC font. The service, on the other hand, meh. Slow, which can be understood by itself without the lackadaisical attitude. And she didn't even know how much the sweatshirts were. She said "I don't know".... pause....... wait...... wait...... awkward silence........ UM, Can you find out??, I would like to buy one if it's not 50 bucks". Other than that, we liked the place.

I love Vinyl Taco. It's so good! I tried the chimichanga. It comes with this amazing sauce that strangely tastes like chicken tikka masala, lol. All the tacos I tried were great and pleasing to the eye. I liked the chicken and mango because it was crispy chicken, and I've never had a taco like that. The shrimp a la parilla (I think it was called that) was my favorite taco. The shrimp had a nice smoky flavor to it which went really well with the avocado sauce. Chips and guac were also good, as well as the margaritas. Everyone needs to go here!

You should know I am from California. Feel free to poke fun at me when talking about winter but when talking about Tacos, spice, and Mexican food, trust me, I know what I'm talking about. The fish tacos here are near perfect. The spicy chicken tacos are actually spicy, a Fargo-Moorhead first for me. The Tortilla soup is some of the best I've ever had and the margaritas are decent. A little on the sweet side, but they are yummy and not too strong. Prices are decent and they get bonus points for having a Goslings Ginger Beer, go Bermuda! Better if they also had Goslings Rum. I asked. They don't. They have a spice indicator on their menu. Believe it. A 2 is recognizably spicy to me. A three is nearly perfect spice.

Absolutely one of my favorite bars/eateries in Fargo. I've eaten here a couple of times, now and really enjoy the food. I'm a huge fan of tapas, so the ability to order a wide variety of individual tacos is right up my alley. This last time my sister and I shared the crispy chicken & mango, the vegetarian, the crispy fish and the chicken fajita. All of them were terrific, though the crispy chicken really stood out. And the queso appetizer was pretty good, as well. Love the tacos and the atmosphere!

  • Ian C.

The food is good, but everything is way over priced. 8 oz margarita is 10$ and the tacos are at least 3.50 for a single small taco. I would rather go next door to JL Beers and grab a burger that fills me up for a dollar more and have a choice of 25 beers on tap.

I've been to Vinyl Taco several times and I dig this place. Every taco I've tried has been outstanding. I really enjoyed the crunchy fish taco, as well as the chicken & mango taco. The guac with the chips are great. The chicken tortilla soup is good as well and comes with a nice amount of chips on the side. While I've read some reviews comment on the prices being high, I actually don't think they are too bad considering the quality and ambience. This isn't a fast food taco joint. Far from it.

Having passed by this place, I had not tried it until now. Vinyl Taco prides itself on playing music from vinyl records (hence the name) and the clincher that made me try this place - it was the fact that they were playing the Beatles "Hey Jude" and "Revolution" when I was debating on whether to try it. The decor is neat as there are actual turntables at the bar with plastic windows above them showing what album they'll be playing. They play lot of the "classics" like Beatles, Bob Seger, CCR, Bad Company and so on. So how does the food hold up? It's excellent and that's no lie. The chicken tortilla soup is a good starter and you can't go wrong with the queso chorizo, a cheese dip with bits of sausage meat and tasty tortilla chips on the side. If you want something spicy that will knock your socks off, go for the chicken tinga. That will really set your mouth on fire. The chimichangas are good too with a crispy outside and a moist filling inside (I went with shredded chicken). There's a fair selection of beer both on taps and in bottles & cans for drinking with your food. The verdict? Vinyl Taco is worth a trip or two...or three or four...

I like this joint. It's got a great vibe to it and the food is great. The servers are friendly without attitudes. As their name states, Vinyl Taco spins albums of classic rock bands. The night I went they were playing Queen. I thought it might just be a CD or hard drive with recorded 'pops' until they tried playing Led Zeppelin. No luck - it skipped. And back to Queen it went. Maybe they only have two albums?!? As my bartender told me, their tacos are small but 'heavy'. I ordered the Carne Arsada taco first and then the Chicken Tinga. Both tacos were heavily spiced with bountiful flavors in the mouth. Think quality over quantity. Much better than the average taco joint. I also tried their rice and beans. Again, very spicy and flavorful. I plan to come back here next year.

I rolled in here shortly after 11 AM to enjoy some tacos for lunch and was shocked that I was ID'd as soon as I entered. This place seems to place as much or more emphasis on the alcohol than the food. As soon as I sat down my sever asked if she could get me something to drink and informed me that it was "Margarita Monday." I resisted and asked for a glass of water. Then I saw they had 5 oz margaritas for only $2. And they had a Strawberry Margarita. So I caved. And it was worth it. A chalkboard in the back of the restaurant listed the huge offering of whiskey, bourbon and tequila. Foodwise, I ended up going with two tacos and an appetizer of chips and salsa. While chips seem simple enough, these were actually really really amazing, possibly the best tortilla chips I've ordered. They were obviously homemade, were extra thick and extra crispy. The salsa was also very good and had a nice kick. Of my two tacos, I much preferred the veggie over the pastor. The veggie was too big to wrap into one taco, so I ate half with a fork before being able to roll it up. It was such a nice combo of textures, with the grilled queso fresco, black beans, corn, avocado and other stuff I can't remember. The pastor was less inspiring. The pork was served minced like bbq and wasn't at all like the tender, flavorful pork chunks that come on the pastor tacos I order at my hometown taco place. It wasn't bad though. The atmosphere was fun. Nice big bar in the middle of the restaurant. Industrial-style decor with brick walls and dim lighting. And a Pink Floyd wall.

The atmosphere was fun and inviting. Our server was efficient and genuine, however it seemed that we waited for our food for longer than need be. The tacos was good but nothing outstanding like I've heard from my peers. I enjoyed the guacamole and the salsa was a little too spicy for me, and I love spicy. I would come back, but would not be a regular.

Great place to go for some unique and fun tacos, with tasty drinks! I'm a big fan of their queso con chorizo and their side of black beans, which is very flavorful...yum. After 9 pm, they have $1 margaritas, which are a fantastic deal! The space can be pretty tight and can get crowded fast, and so I've found that it's best to come with a smaller party (4 or less).

Service was accommodating. Tried the pork belly taco with au jous sauce, nice and salty. Preferred that a bit over the chicken and mango taco but probably only because the mango didn't taste very ripe or sweet. I can't wait to try some of their other dishes. They don't have a very large beer selection but you shouldn't have a problem finding something to settle on.

This place is really delicious. I am not from town and have had real authentic tacos and this is pretty good. Authentic tacos don't come from Taco Johns or anything like that. This is the real deal. Very good.

Hip, cool, trendy upscale taco joint that played old vinyl records... Very cool decor, cool and delicious tacos and a friendly staff. The music could have been a little better, but I don't mind 80's tunes... Just not for more than ah hour or so (suggestion... Put a vinyl menu together and let the customers make requests)... Not the best tacos I've ever had, but I did like the crispy fish taco (they are called Baja tacos in Cali). The shrimp looked good even though I didn't try them & the barbacoa tacos were good, but not great & I will try a few others in my next visit for sure. The guacamole was yummy, but the radishes were a little odd for my liking. The drinks were a little pricy and they did screw up my order once, but I did like this trendy spot. Food 3.5 stars Beverage/bar 3 stars Decor 4.5 start Overall 3.75 for me... But I'll round up this time.

We love this place! GREAT tacos for being relatively inexpensive. Excellent, fresh ingredients and eclectic flavors. Highly recommend!

If you're looking for authentic Mexican, this is not the place. This is Americanized Mexican. They do their dishes a little bit different but they're not exceptional. The tacos came with taco shells that were cold, The chips were overly salty (and I ordered a second bunch) and I drink I ordered for the bar was *meh*. I wouldn't suggest this place unless you're coming with the group and you're not really interested in food.

For a North Dakota Mexican restaurant this place is pretty good. And for just a Mexican restaurant compared to all the vast array of Latin American cuisine out there in the good ol' US of A - this place is still pretty damn good. And that's coming from a native Texan. After digging into their fresh and abundant guacamole, I was ready to indulge in their staple soft taco dishes: the vegetarian, the fajita, and the chicken tinga. All With corn tortillas obviously. They were robust with a ton of layers of taste. The flavor profile of the chicken tinga was pretty spot on when it comes to pepper heat and use of queso blanco and the chicken marinade. The best part, of course, was the awesome classics playing from what is imagine a vinyl record. Such a great concept and combo of two good things: tacos and music.

THANK YOU, Mezzaluna, for having a hour wait! Otherwise we would have never eaten here ;) This place is crazy good. Do you know how street tacos are usually greasy?! Not here! We ordered the chicken & mango taco (my favvvv), crispy fish taco, & the chicken tinga. We also ordered a 16oz(?) bottle of strawberry margarita - perfect for two people. It wasn't too sweet & it gave us a good buzz. Great food, great music, & great service. Nelly was our server and she checked on us frequently even though it was busy. Please open a Vinyl Taco in Las Vegas!!!!

Best mixed drinks in town. My favorite is their house made margaritas they are masterpieces. I'd give them 5 stars for this alone. I have chosen to give them 4 stars for their constantly changing menu. Since they have opened menu has changed every time I go. While much of it is great, and has expanded from a smaller selection of tacos and a few appetizers. A few things I really miss, but understand they are trying to appeal to a broad pallet. Originally corn tortillas were the default and they are amazing. They quickly switched to a flour tortilla. I believe corn is still available which is good, just not sure why they made the switch. Many of the items added seem to be to satisfy a bland pallet, not that it's bad. However I believe spice is where Vinyl shines. If you pick at item with at least 1 bell, 2-3 even better. They create flavor combinations that will wake up your taste buds and although spicier are well balanced. Now that they have added the Gringo flavor. I hope they will continue to develop their medium to hot recipes. They are muy caliente! And Perfectly paired with a margarita or 2.

Yum!! Today was my first Vinyl Taco experience and I can't wait to go back. I tried the fresh guacamole and chips it was fresh and delicious. I also had the chicken and mango taco as well as the fish taco. My favorite, hands down, was the chicken and mango. I also had the beans and rice which I felt as an unnecessary addition. I would have ordered the chicken tortilla soup or just another taco to try. To drink I had the no mas pantalones. I was surprised how small it was for the price but the taste made up for it. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is fun. I can't wait to go back and try more items off the menu. I don't think they will disappoint!

This place is great! The ambience is fitting with the vinyl playlist. I went for late night dinner with friends and ordered almost every taco. All the tacos were well made with really generous amounts of filling. Order a side of chips to help eat up everything that fell out. The food isn't that spicy - contrary to other reviews and word of mouth. Margaritas are also really delicious. We went on Friday so after 9 they were only a dollar! The raspberry flavor is my favorite - It isn't too sweet. I would recommend to anyone looking for a good lunch or dinner. It does get a bar-only vibe after 9 on the weekends, which is to be expected.

WOW! I was expecting great from this place and received nothing. The portions wouldn't satisfy a child yet the price will hurt an adult. I waited for a long time before anyone even acknowledged me and after that it continued to go down hill. The food was portioned badly, tasted badly, and not sure how they could even call it a taco. The staff had no interest in taking my order, or giving me my drink. I have no intention in even giving this place another shot.

I must say I am really impressed that Vinyl Taco is responding to people's feedback! They updated their menu now it indicates spice level so you know what you're getting yourself into. CON: Now they changed the queso dip and it's no longer as amazing as it once was. You do get more with this updated change, but I was okay with the quantity last time because it was just ooey, gooey, and perfect that you didn't feel like you were getting jipped. The new queso was just okay.

Vinyl Taco is a restaurant/bar in the heart of downtown Fargo that specializes in offering a diverse sampling of gourmet tacos. They supplement the taco options with a limited selection of "street" style Mexican menu items, including enchiladas, chimichangas, and sides. The hybridization between bar and restaurant can, at times, be a little confusing. On some nights, the atmosphere feels like a bar with loud music and drunk people--it would be great with a rowdy group of friends. Other nights the dining is quiet and intimate, and the focus can really be on your friends/family/date or even the food itself. The margaritas are affordable/passable, and can even come by the pitcher, which complements the street style Mexican food well. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by the tacos that I've had here. I spent an appreciable portion of my life in the southwestern US, and I had resigned to having almost no decent Mexican style options when I moved this far north. I mean, cheese covered everything is fine in its own right, but it's sub-par after experiencing the foods of the SW in their native land. With that said, Vinyl Taco really nails the gourmet taco styles that have rocked the food scene in the SW and elsewhere, and they are the only ones doing it right in Fargo-Moorhead. Rather than strive for an authenticity that can't be attained for lack of Mexican ingredients, they aim to make really excellent tacos (and I assume other items). I've seen many of these tacos throughout my travels so there is nothing particularly unique. Rather, Vinyl Taco brings a "best of" the taco scene that has grown in recent years, and they are doing it with gusto. As far as food goes, try all of the tacos to find your favorites. Honestly, the vegetarian options are some of their best tacos, and I particularly like their shrimp taco (shrimp a la parilla) and the cheese taco (vegetarian). The pork belly taco (pork belly agridulce) is fantastic, and they make the only fish taco that I'm aware of in town. I haven't tried their other menu items, but they do make a great guacamole that has no equal in the FM scene. Each taco is about $5.00 (a little less), which may seem expensive, but really 1-3 tacos could be a filling meal. All of the tacos are provided on flour tortillas by default, but purists and afficianados may want to ask for the corn tortillas. I've found that some of the menu items work much better with corn tortillas, so you're encouraged to experiment. They also have a habanero salsa that you can ask for--it's very, very hot, but satisfies a need for heat if that's your kind of thing. Bottom line: Vinyl Taco brings an unexpected, trendy food style to downtown Fargo-Moorhead. They aren't trying to reinvent anything--opting instead to offer some solid, best-of tacos that almost everyone will find appealing.

Food was good, service was very poor. Waitress only came to our table twice. When asked how we would like our bill, my friend said "Combined, I will pay for it". She ran my friends card and gave her the receipt, only to find we were charged for several items we did not order. She never returned to our table so we had to go to the bar and explain our bill was not correct. The waitress was so upset and rude about it the bar staff had to ask her to calm down! If we return we hope the staff improves!

Love, love, love the theme and ambiance!!! Had the Mexi Mule (similar to a Moscow Mule with tequila instead of vodka) and guacamole with slivered radishes - - - nom nom! I will definitely be returning to have these two plus more the next time!

I've been here on two separate occasions. The first time I ordered a chimichanga. The meat and tortilla were cooked to perfection. It was smothered in a roasted tomato sauce which I found odd. I grew up in the west so I am used to a green or red chili sauce. I liked their tacos much better.

The tacos are certainly elegant, and perfectly satisfactory, though they aren't ultimately a featured draw. The drink selection is good but overpriced. Can be fun on occasion but not something I'd make a regular destination.

Very fun.

BAD combo!

The food is good, but everything is way over priced. 8 oz margarita is 10$ and the tacos are at least 3.50 for a single small taco. I would rather go next door to JL Beers and grab a burger that fills me up for a dollar more and have a choice of 25 beers on tap.

I've been here on two separate occasions. The first time I ordered a chimichanga. The meat and tortilla were cooked to perfection. It was smothered in a roasted tomato sauce which I found odd. I grew up in the west so I am used to a green or red chili sauce. I liked their tacos much better.

The atmosphere was interesting. The food wasn't. Small portions and bland tasting. The price for what you get is also on the high side. I won't be rushing back to this one.

BAD combo!

  • Kurt K.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
