I love Taco Shop hard shell tacos. I haven't had much else here, so I can't speak for that. But this place is disgustingly expensive. Hard shell tacos are a 'treat' for me when I stop at this place. Love the tacos, but it's rare when I visit.

Everyone forgets how awesome this place is. Here's the jist this place sorta reminds you of the 1960s in the Midwest. It's literally been around since then, and there not trying to be anything more than a taco. It's meat, cheese melted on the meat, and lots of hot sauce, very good hot sauce, if sauces are your thing HEAD HERE. I like the inside seating of the University Dr location. It hasn't been remodeled a lot and leaves room to sit and relax, and read one of the local rag papers. The employees are usually college type kids. Anyway, I approve of this place, and if you want to pay 4 dollars some place for a taco, good for you, but this taco has style, which surpasses the overly thought out tacos of the future. Pizza and tacos are what this culture is all about now, and it's gone to ridiculous degrees. We almost need to rewind 40 years ago because pizza and tacos are both very good food that is almost Americanized like a adopted foreign exchange student. But somewhere along the way we've lost sight of the Taco. This place makes the taco which we are all yearning for. Go devour a taco on your way home.

Love the food and prices, Taco Monday is my favorite time to go. The only drawback to this place is the service. They have the worst attitude of any restaurant I've been to, and it doesn't matter which branch you go to in Fargo. The food is great and it's definitely still worth going, but it makes you wonder if it's a terrible place to work..?

Bla bla bla. The killer sauce felt like a paper cut. It's the red pepper of GF in a different format Boring food like most ND based restaurants. It's like they don't even try. Taco burger ? Gawd

After I read positive reviews on another site, I was hoping for something reasonably good. I was disappointed. This is just a local fast food place that lacks charm and flavor. It would be a stretch to call the food mediocre. I got onion rings and a cheese enchilada combo. This was almost $10, and would have still been a bad value at $5. The enchilada was microwaved and still cold. The rice part of the combo was okay, but the beans had no flavor and a chalky texture. Blech. The onion rings were the best part - not a good sign for a Mexican place. The restaurant itself is well on the way to dilapidated, which is saying something for a place where the decorative motif is painted cement blocks and vinyl seats patched with duct tape. It seemed clean enough, but dumpy. So, all in all, the facilities were about as good as the staff. Maybe - although I doubt it - the tacos are better, considering it is the Taco Shop. What I got wasn't good, though, and I would try any other place for Mexican food instead of going back here.

Love the Taco Shop; I eat here once a week. Basic american-mexican, delicious breakfast burritos, reasonably priced. You'll never leave hungry! Always generous amounts of meat and cheese. Deluxe nachos are awesome. Make sure to get the jalapenos.

This wont be a place that I return to any time soon. Food was cold and more grease then flavor. It didnt help that the girl behind the counter seem annoyed to have to be bothered with our order. Gas station food in a resturant, enough said.

3 honest reviews for The Taco Shop were filtered out for some reason. The only review posted is a bad one. What gives? This place has been around since the 1960's for a good reason. It's very good. I grew up in Fargo and every time I go home this is the first place I stop. Period. I never get past the softshell tacos but I know the grinders are also the bomb. Perfectly seasoned ground beef taco meat. Not cold, not greasy. They actually put such an ample amount of cheese on the tacos that you can tell there is cheese on your tacos. They make their own hot sauce which you can buy to go because it is so good. Especially the Killer Sauce. Wonderfully fresh flavored sauce that could burn the paint off a car. I love that sauce. Only reason they don't get 5 stars is that the South University location has employees that just seem bored and annoyed that you have come to eat there. It's not the same employees that have worked there forever but seems to be a culture at this location. It's a way different vibe than the North Fargo location but still the same awesome tacos and Killer Sauce. Maybe turning the South University location back into a King Leo's would not be such a bad idea.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
