Yes! Finally found a great Chinese place in F/M! Great Wall is the place to go and my new favorite! Had the Kung Pao chicken and was surprised at how good it was. The spice level was spot on; and the quality of ingredient was great! The chicken was moist and tender, and the veggies were crisp and full of flavor! Plus the peanuts and rice were a tasty addition. These combination plate come with a side order of sweet and sour chicken...a nice touch and complimentary taste. Gotta have an egg roll too! Crisp and wonderfully fried--more peppery spiced than any other egg roll I've had, but it works. Kind and attentive service made the experience better. Be sure to bring cash...no cards accepted here. Can't wait to go back and try other delicious selections on their menu! Clearly the best in town!

Fantastic food. Quality meat and veggies which is almost impossible to find in a Chinese joint.. The only downside to the place is they only take cash and it's location is ghetto, but neither of those things bothered me. Do yourself a favor and eat here, by far the best in Fargo.

First time sense I moved back to Fargo I have tried this restaurant service was exquisite as was the food. I had C7. Which was really good it had lots of pepper and onions with steak and rice I also had the hot I'm picky about my tea and I can say the taste and texture was different but delicious.

Open seven days a week and on holidays, I am forever hooked. I don't think anyone else in town comes close to Great Wall, and I love that the owners are always there. You know everything is done right. Favs: General tso and Orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken, Hunan beef, chicken with snow peas, egg rolls, cream cheese/ regular wontons are all awesome. Fried potstickers are great too.

I have never had a better egg roll. My husband ordered general Tao's chicken and he said it was super good. The staff is super nice. We have dined in before and sometimes there is a long wait, so if you have kids bring something for them to do and bring a good attitude and patience. The food is worth the wait. Great food, atmosphere is simple. Cash only.

Cash only, folks. This is the only Chinese place my wife and I have returned to in Fargo, and my wife is totally in love with their crab rangoons. Although the last order of chicken lo mein we got smelled suspiciously of shrimp... Still, it's pretty good. The spicy dishes have a fair amount of bite to them (I'm a nut for spicy food), and the egg rolls are delicious! I could be happy with a half dozen of those wonderful, savory rolls- crispy on the outside, just a little bit chewy, and stuffed with a great blend of meat and veggies. The texture and flavor are perfect- just make sure to ask for spicy mustard, since they'll only give you sweet and sour by default.

Pros: Mom and Pop store Cons: booth nearest door had a few grease ants, I moved to another seat Place sells food like the business next door sells oxygen. Just basic food.

I've been going here since the day they opened in 1994 - the food is mostly cooked while you wait, which isn't very long. The chicken is the best I've ever had. There isn't a buffet here so the only thing mostly pre-made is the rice which has always been good. The soup is excellent.

We had a "Chirstmas story" situation this year, and ended up eating here on Christmas. It was great, especially when compared to the countless other options for Chinese food in the F/M area. Stir fried string beans were great! Sauteed just right where it sill had a slight crunch, and a great garlic butter flavor. Chicken Lo Mein was done right, tasted great! Fried rice was also great, no old grease very fresh! Recommended! :-)

For starters...be sure to bring cash as they don't accept card or out of town checks. This is easily my favorite mom and pop Chinese restaurant in the area. No buffet means they actually make your food for you versus having it out like a place to graze. They have awesome eggs rolls. Everything I have had has been great. The Hot and Sour soup is fantastic.

Well, to be fair, I used to work here day in and day out in the early days of this restaurant. Nice clean kitchen. Always loved the hot & sour soup (learned to make it!), the double-style General Cho's (no other place I've been has had this juicy, huge pieces of chicken), the fragrant fried rice or the tasty juice-based sweet & sour sauce. Home-made potstickers are a must, as are the hand-made cream cheese wontons and egg rolls (no pre-made here so far!). A drive-thru! Well, don't order the long involved dishes, but most things can be done in less than 5 minutes. Not too bad. Tables up front, and staff at the register - they cook most things here immediately other than the rice and some of the fried things that they store up front. The service can be slow at times when it's busy, but the staff try to do temper your expectations. Used to be open Sundays, and deliver, but both services were removed after low demand.

Let me start by saying, I'm a business traveler. I generally do not carry cash, and I obviously don't have "in town" checks. That means at Great Wall, I have to pay with cash. Luckily I had some on me, because I would have been pretty miffed to realize that I needed to find an ATM after I had already had to seek this place out, not knowing the city very well. I was craving egg rolls. I asked the staff at the office where I routinely work when I visit Fargo where to go. More than one person told me to try Great Wall. This is definitely a little mom & pop operation, which I love to support. They even had their small daughter (and her artwork- adorable!) around the restaurant. The Won Ton soup was very good, but the noodles were a bit mushy. I very much enjoyed the Kung Pao chicken. But the reason I went there were the egg rolls, and I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed. When I bite into an egg roll- I want it to be firm- this one had a little too much give for my tastes. I also didn't get any soy sauce in my carry out meal, which made the fried rice almost not worth eating. I don't expect Fargo to be the Chinese food capital of the world, but I think I will keep searching.

My wife and I found this little place over 13 years ago when we were going to NDSU. Every time I get a chance to come back and visit, I go out of my way to eat here. We've eaten chinese in our hometowns of St.Paul, MN and Sioux Falls, SD and also in Omaha where we live now, and still haven't had anything near the quality of this place. The restaurant is family run, and the food quality never waivers. My favorite is the beef brocolli, while the missus prefers the Sweet and Sour Chicken. Thy're all good! The atmosphere is definitely very casual, and as a bonus there is no buffet. The food is always made fresh and not stewing in a warming pan. Be sure to carry a local check or cash though, they don't accept credit cards as a cost saving measure.

Yum. I have been going to the Great Wall for Chinese food for over 10 years now, and it's not just consistent, but consistently good. Keep in mind it's not a buffet, but that's a good thing. For Chinese food, it's absolutely great, I've never had a bad meal here, and I've learned to like so many types of food from here. The General Tso's chicken is of course their popular dish, but I think the very best thing on the menu is the Mongolian Beef. Whatever type of common Chinese dish you like should be on the menu.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
