Grazies is my favorite Italian restaurant in Fargo. Such bold flavors and a cool ambiance. Amazing bread to start your meal, then you should try to cajun chicken or tequila shrimp. The calzones are huge. I think you can make just about any menu item a calzone. The service is always great and they have a full bar.

Pasta dishes are good. Not blow-my-mind good but pasta comes with sauces that seem to be seasoned well in good portion size. Weekday lunch offers pasta/pizza/salad buffet for $7.99 from 11 am till 1:30 pm. Usually very simple salad (lettuce and salad dressing with croutons), two kinds of pasta (spaghetti or fettucini) with tomato/Alfredo sauce and one baked pasta, and three kinds of pizza. Pizza is OK but I didn't like it much because the crust was too hard for me. Very spacious inside so it's a good place for a group lunch/dinner. Service is slow though...

Nice food and ambience. They have good pizza and pasta. Basil pesto tops my list. Love their bread and dip so much

First time trying this joint. Decor was very Italian as one would expect. Service wasn't bad considering there was a high school prom party and another massive party of people in the back. Ordered the chicken parmagiana. Two large chicken breasts covered in marinara sauce on a bed of spaghetti. The pasta seemed to have been cooked longer than it needed to be and the pasta to chicken ratio was off. Could have used more pasta and alot less sauce. Next time may be an alfredo selection. Prices are a little on the high side but portions seem to make up for it. Not sure if thats good or bad. Overall a good experience. Would definitely try it again.

We cawe came here for Valentine's Day and the service and food was wonderful. The waitress recommended the raging Cajun pasta for my husband who like something a little spicy and it was really amazing. I had the tortellini al forno which was a bit rich but very flavorful. The atmosphere is great and we had a great time.

Had dinner here with some coworkers and it was great! We had the best service .... A young guy with a very polite service. The food was great,we started off with a round of some chips and walleye fingers then all 5 of us ordered. Mine was the lobster ravioli with shrimp, will I have this again ...... Yes! Everyone's plate was was spot clean at the end of dinner, I had to soak up the sauce from my meal with a piece of bread. Good food great atmosphere. Don't eat at chains!

I usually go to Grazies several times a year. The food is always good and consistent. You usually don't have to wait to long to get a table which is a positive for me as I am not big on hanging out in a lobby for an hour. I'd recommend pasta or pizza. They have private rooms available for larger groups and don't charge any extra to use these rooms. I'd recommend you give them a try if you want to try a local restaurant instead of another franchise establishment.

Back again one year later, again for valentine's day. This time there were reservations so there was no wait. Service improved immensely, but food was disappointing. Either bland or over seasoned. Italian nachos were not heated all the way through. Not planning on going back anytime soon.

Visited on a Friday night and expected to find a crowd - but the evening was beautiful and a Bison game on TV - not many people were dining out. The biggest movement was a wedding party in the private dining room. Our service was good - but it should be for a slow night. My only issue was with the Lobster Ravioli. I fashion myself a seafood expert. But when I received my order, I guess the shrimp in the sauce should have been a dead give away. As I cut into the ravioli I noticed red specks - I disregarded those and took a bite. I gave my partner a piece without telling him, and he stated quickly "That's imitation seafood and it doesn't taste like lobster". As I cut further into it, the red specks were larger and flakey with fish (cod). The more I ate, the more it tasted like mock crab. A few days later, still bugged by the experience, I called my nephew who is a former employee of Grazies (Chef) - he confirmed that the solid white ravioli was imitation lobster ravioli Grazies uses. He went on to described the way the ravioli should look if it is real lobster. I described what I ordered, he replied, "That was the mock seafood ravioli made with cod... they buy cause it's cheaper". Think about it, if their Chef prepared a ravioli filled with real lobster - who in their right mind would throw shrimp in the sauce...right? We spent over $100 on our meal at Grazies. I paid for Lobster Ravioli - received mock mush - I will never go there again.

My first time having dinner here was New Year's Eve. The chicken picatta and chicken scallopini were excellent. The service was not spectacular. The waitress was not quick to refill drinks, the food took a long time to arrive and we had to ask for dessert instead of it being offered. Not what you expect for dining out on a special evening. The creme brûlée was good, but chocolate covered strawberries were not. Described as luscious berries in a chocolate shell turned out to be 6 small berries slapped on a plate drizzled in chocolate sauce. Overall the food and price were acceptable but would have expected better presentation and service on a holiday.

Admittedly, we came here not expecting much from any Italian place in Fargo. My husband is an East Coaster and is especially picky about his Italian. We found the service to be really good, the only thing she forgot was our water, but her timing was good: not too pushy, yet checked in to see we were doing alright. The only atmosphere problem was the party whose men were dressed in douche-bag t-shirts and one was so drunk his own people continuously shushed him. Lots of booths against the windows, tables in the center. Decor was typical, there was a replica of the Mona Lisa when you walk in. I had the eggplant parm. It didn't come in the classic layered dish, but individually placed on spaghetti. Noodles were light yet dense with flavor and not an overwhelming amount of sauce. Thick cuts of eggplant. The true killer was the Chicken Piccata. Again, not smothered in sauce, just enough, noodles great. The chicken cutlet was breaded in the same type of breading used out east. It literally brought my husband back to chicken cutlet subs we used to eat on the East Coast. We aren't wine people so I can't say much about that. They have the typical beer stuff available. They do have a few good beers (Ranger IPA being my fave). My Stoli and soda was strong enough to taste the vodka without falling out of my chair after having two. We will be back.

It's kind of sad to me that I can only give them 3 stars but even then I feel I'm being generous. I have been here over the years and had good food and service but it isn't consistent. I have also had very poor service, to the point of having to beg for water re-fills and not get them. One of the reasons I do like them is they always place warm rolls on the table with seasoned oil for dipping. If you get any it is delicious, the last time I was there we had to ask for bread and got a snotty reply about it not being ready....wow, ok just say so when you take our drink order and I would have been more then happy to wait patiently. So when we got our food it was good, would have been better with a water to wash it down, asked 2 times then my husband stepped in and asked before I got a re-fill. Hey everyone has a bad day but the deal was I saw our server giving excellent service/attention to other tables. Nobody at our table was being rude or deserved poor treatment...so yeah that was unnecessary. Decent food just be consistent about the entire package.

Stopped in Fargo for lunch and was happy to find this restaurant on yelp. Friendly service, nice atmosphere, and amazing pasta. The best part was the lunch buffet actually had food you wanted to eat on it.

Grazies receives 2 stars from me only because the food quality and ambiance were decent. We ate family style dishes, which I would say were just above what you would get at Olive Garden. Good flavor and portions, but made one of the cardinal sins of Italian food.... they drown the pasta in sauce. The atmosphere in the restaurant was quiet and fairly classy. However, the service is where the compliments end. The service was some of the worst I have experienced in a long time....it was almost as if our waitress had never served a table before. First, she asked us 3 times in the first 15 minutes we were there if we were ready to order yet. Then, when we asked for her opinion on a couple of bottles of wine, she had no knowledge and it appeared that she just made something up without asking anyone who might know. When the wine was brought out, it was already open and she just sat the bottle and 4 glasses down in the middle of the table....she did the same things with the dinner plates as well. When we were finished with salads, a member of our party had to bring the dishes to the kitchen so there was room after the main dishes came out. Overall, she gave us the feeling that we were rushed and inconveniencing her even to be there.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
