My family just ate at Space Aliens Grill and Bar. We were so excited to go there, but it ended up being the worst place at which we have eaten. My daughter ordered a garlic cheese bread pizza. It tasted so bad she spit it out. I tried it and I had to spit it out. There was something that had a strong bad taste like it was rotten. After we complained, I over heard the cook making fun of us. I will not be going there again.

As a Sci Fi fanatic, I could not resist the concept. But wait for main dining area was long (young familes) so went into bar area for dinner and beer. (21+, so just travellers) .not much sci-fi atmosphere there. First free popcorn, but ultra salty, so not for me. Asked waitress for recommendation , she raved about the 5 cheese grilled cheese. Not sure why grilled cheese took 25 minutes. And nothing special. Hotel was just across the street but so are other food choices. If I come back on next trip, it would only be to buy a tee shirt.

****review is only of the bar I really didn't know what to expect walking in. This place is definitely one of a kind. We went around noon for happy hour to kill some time before meeting friends. The bar is a little separated from the main area which is refreshing as tons of kids are running around enjoying themselves in the main area. Drinks are reasonably priced. They had about ten beers in draft and a full liquor bar. Bartender was more than accommodating to let me try a few before settling. Free popcorn also :) After trying three beers I can tell you the glasses are not that clean. All three glasses I had to sample out of looked disgusting with water stains on them. I looked at the menu but didn't order any food- they have a wide selection to choose from. All in all seems like a good place to take the kids for some fun and games. I wouldn't recommend It for happy hour or drinks with friends.

Very good ribs and the cole slaw & BBQ Beans were excellent . The bar is a good place to watch a game and the decor was very entertaining.

I have had muchhhhh better - This is a great place to take your kids to play and have fun in the gimmicky eatery ... don't go there hungry - the food is horrible. Service is horrible too. I was expecting mediocre service - but not dismal.

By far the best space alien themed bar/restaurant/arcade I've ever been to in North Dakota.

Sure the space alien theme is a little tacky, and maybe even a little poorly executed, but the food was actually pretty good. I had a Cajun chicken sandwich and a loaded baked potato. Both were well prepared and tasted good. My wife had some wings and she said the wings and the buffalo sauce were good. Our server was friendly an attentive too. The restaurant itself has a family dining area and an adults only bar. There is also a video arcade with a variety of video games and other amusements. So would I go back? No, probably not. But it was worth a try and I'm not disappointed we choose to eat there.

Fun enough place. Looking for a quick bite when tired and traveling with the fan and this more than did the trick. Their cheese/jalapeño apps (forgot the name) were very testy. I had the brisket sandwich and it was very good. My wife had the pulled pork sand and said it had a good taste but bun was too doughy. Kids had typical kid meal stuff. This place will surprise you and they have a game room as well!!

My husband and I went here for our Friday Date Night and they recommended the bar for us since the tables would be awhile and I'm so glad we did. We had the best bartender ever, and they were always right on top of everything, anytime or drinks got a little low they got us another. The food was fantastic we had the Whiskey Bourbon Steak and Fiesta Taco Baked Potato they were both amazing. Also their fries really are superb! Loved this place, definitely going back!

Known for the quirky decor and great pizza...naturally, I ordered a grilled cheese. Much to my surprise..this was no ordinary grilled cheese. I have since forgot the flamboyant title, it is best described as a cheese crater of awesome. The staff was fast and friendly. The food was great. And who doesn't like dining with aliens and Buzz LIghtyear at every turn?

I need to voice a complaint at my experience with Space Aliens Bar and Grill, Fargo. My wife and I went on vacation traveling the good ol' USA. We just got back home July 29th. We arrived at the restaurant on June 30 between 12:00 and 2:00 pm. The young cashier and waitress explained that we could not get a table because the tables were for parties of four or more. "We can only sit you at the bar," they explained. They offered no explanation as to why and looked like they didn't know what they were doing. No apology or anything. We started for the bar, but it was very dark and musty smelling. We simply walked out. I sent a letter to corporate explaining my experience. The rep said, "Oh, the guy that handles complaints no longer works here." That was his answer!

Fun joint for the kids. Good food, if you can manage all the sparkly lights. Reasonably priced.

Space aliens: How a tacky restaurant satisfies childhood dreams. You all had it. Sure you may have been eight years old, but you had the vision. The place that serve pizza, rocket ships, and video games. How could it fail? The only thing your inner child needs to let loose inside Space Aliens is 1 and 3/4 beers and maybe some chicken wings. That's when it sinks in; the memories come flooding back; this is what you always dreamed of but never had. Pizza, rocket ships, and video games all under the same roof, all painted in technicolor. It's really here and now you need to slough off your shackles of adulthood and go whack some space moles while inebriated. Maybe if you can even win that infuriating light catcher game that you could never beat as a kid. You're bigger, stronger, and more suited to dominate. So let go eat your pizza, drink your 1 and 3/4 beers, and play.

Good for kids, but not for adults. Coffee was cold and only had 3 chairs at the table when we had 4 people. We came here another time and the bench was broke.

  • Jon T.

Bathrooms smell, service is slow food was cold. Service was way below average all the way around. Avoid.

The potatoes are good... Its really for kids.

There is absolutely no reason for this restaurant to be tagged vegetarian. I can get pizza or salad anywhere. It was disappointing as a traveller counting on Yelp to steer me to good veggie eats.

    (3)
  • Scott M.

Well it was an experience. I fully believe the past reviews on the salads and pizza. And how do you turn steak into jerky? Ask the aliens. Once was enough

While in Bismark North Dakota, we ate at a few restaurants that were out of this world! Our favorite by far was Space Aliens Grill & Bar, where Earthlings are welcome. We walked in and immediately felt like we were in a different galaxy. The decor features a 30-foot-high domed ceiling that displays a view of outer space. A force field of alien sculptures in the dining room, bar and arcade, showcase a variety of extraterrestrial settings and distinct personalities, encouraging each earthling to relax and enjoy the moment. It was a great atmosphere, lol. My husband had the Bar-B-Que ribs which he really enjoyed a lot. I was going to try a steak but ended up trying the Whiskey Bourbon Chicken. It sounded good and tasted even better! It was definitely the best meal I had our whole trip to North and South Dakota. I am disappointed that they don't have one closer to the Denver area. They are only in North Dakota, and Minnesota. Maybe someday they will venture down this way. After we ate, we walked around and stopped in the bar for a bit. It is really a cute little restaurant, and the staff was very friendly. I even talked to the manger and told him how much we enjoyed our visit, and that as Earthlings, we felt very welcomed, lol. I will definitely go again if we are back in Bismark one day. You can read more about this restaurant and other restaurants that we liked in Bismark on our travel blog at ourtravelingblog.com/201… . This place was a huge hit with the whole family. Our four year old kept calling it "Pizza Planet" and our one year old was pointing out all the crazy decorations. The food was MUCH better than we expected. Kids pizzas were delicious and the stuffed baked potatoes were glorious. Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone with kiddos. So much fun!!

  • Tristan M.

This place is such a trip, and never ceases to amuse me. Everything has an extraterrestrial or futuristic theme, from the decor to the dishes to the food itself. And the food's pretty good, too--I love me some space fries with space goop. Always worth stopping for lunch here when passing through Bismarck.

So when you're driving through North Dakota, what kind of restaurants do you expect to see? Space alien restaurant....not so much! It's so out of place that I had to give it a try. During a week of travelling through the state on business, I think that the Martian munchies appetizer was the best food I had. They are basically strips of meat flash cooked and covered in a bbq sauce. They were great! Decent beer prices and free popcorn in the bar made me a fan of this place!

  • Nicara L.

If I could give this place no stars I would. The worst service I have ever got and I have worked in good industry's before. Takes 10 minutes to be greeted another 7 to get your drinks and not to mention all the servers just walking Around slow not looking like they even know what they are doing. This has happened more then once to! So frustrating! Wouldn't recommend this to anyone who doesn't have a lot of patients. Only thing good is the food but it takes forever to get.

  • Drew R.

Everything was very good, my ribs were so-so but our party had about 6 coupons and they accepted them all without question. Pizza was good as was the chicken. Service was also very good.

Space Aliens is a Bismarck restaurant staple. A local business that went 'big-time' (and by that, I mean they have locations in Minnesota), Space Aliens is known for their BBQ and pizza. I have never been a big fan of their pizza, but I have many friends who swear by their Chicken Ranch Pizza. This is also the time in the review where I mention Space Aliens currently has THE ONLY ARCADE IN BISMARCK! As a gaming enthusiast, this is what the kids these days call a BFD. The food is average to above average (depending on the cook/waiter combination you happen to get) and the atmosphere is pretty obnoxious for anyone perfectly content with being an Earthling or anyone above the age of 8. I have been known to frequent Space Aliens without hitting up the arcade, but the trip isn't nearly as fun. Even if you aren't huge into arcade games, do yourself a favor and go check it out anyway. The closest other option is 2 hours away.

  • Layla L.

LOVE IT the food is great and the area is fun, we didnt even make it to the arcade area. We were passing through and saw the outside, had to check out the inside, we didnt even mean to eat there...

Do not order the spaceship salad. It is only slightly larger than a side salad but is priced like an entree. I even asked while ordering how big it is... the waitress gave a hand sign about as big as a dinner plate, so i thought alright that'll do.... but when she brought it to the table... I thought it was the side salad of my friend's lunch. Oh man.. if only i had a time machine I would go back in time and tell myself to order something else... and while i was at it... i would tell myself to go to a different restaurant... and maybe i would even give myself an hour long lecture about the importance of reaching for my dreams. In conclusion... dont order the spaceship salad. You're welcome.

Driving through North Dakota on interstate 94 and needed to stop for lunch near Bismarck. Found this place on yelp and gave it a try. The inside looks much nicer than the outside, friendly staff, fun, entertaining and alien spaceship decor. Pizza was good, we ordered it to go. Got a large garlic and cheese pizza and a large vegetarian pizza which was really good and included pineapple! At about $25 we thought it was worth it, glad we stopped, it was fun and filling. And we got a bumper sticker too! "Alien On Board"

The Alien, as I like to call it, is a must-stop restaurant for me when I'm visiting Bismarck. I go especially for the pizza. This is a locally owned joint, and since they've opened I think they've done rather well for themselves. I like sitting at the bar. The service is always good and that way I can avoid the plethora of children. They also serve tasty popcorn. I'm a fan of the cajun ranch chicken pizza, buffalo chicken pizza and taco pizza. They have pizza specials on Thursdays! The martian munchies (deep fried pork tenderloin?) are rather worthy, too.

Wow! Space Aliens Grill and Bar: I love their theme! I felt like I was a kid again! It's good to bring young kids over here. They have an arcade! The neon lights was cool. The service is good. The foods are nice. I love to go back here and bring my niece and nephew. I know they will have a good time and thank me later.

  • Rego S.

This place really taps into my inner child. Someone must have spent a lot of time decking it out with all the sci-fi toys, decorations, and neon lights. They even have skee-ball in the game room, with is a big plus. The only "normal" corner of the restaurant is the bathrooms, but hopefully they'll decorate them too. They already have the most powerful had driers I've ever used. Their food seems to be standard american diner fare with expanded BBQ items and sauces. I shared a full rack ribs platter with another person for lunch, which was a very good deal.

Bad pizza crust. Out of a freezer. However, kids won't notice. .

I have been here a few times in the past. It's a great place to take kids as there is an arcade for them to play games in. They are known for their ribs and fire roasted pizza. They also have pretty good loaded baked potatoes. Our table ordered a BBQ Chicken potato, kid's chick strips, grilled cheese, and a 10 inch make your own pizza. The food was pretty good. The only issue was our waiter typed in one of our orders wrong and we had to wait a good amount of time. Our food definitely suffered and wasn't as "hot off the grill" as I like.

  • Kevin C.

Bizarre. I don't know what else to call this joint. To call it a "theme" restaurant seems too mild - it's WAY over the top. I think if I'd walked in wearing full Brak regalia, I would have fit right in. We viisited on a weeknight and the place was packed, generally a good sign. There were signs up in the dining areas, claiming to have the best BBQ in the state (or galaxy or some large region). So, I ordered ribs. Not bad. Not sure I buy the notion that it's the best around, but plenty decent. If you can handle the screaming kids and over-the-top crazy sci-fi theme, it's worth a visit.

Okay, so I found myself on a 7 week consulting assignment in Bismarck, ND. My hotel didn't have any kind of food and there was nothing close by, except for chains. Actually, they did have breakfast, which wasn't bad at all. But at night I refused to have pizza delivered to my room. I found this place one night quite by accident and it was worth the trip (actually, I spent a lot of time driving around the area - there are roads that just peter out from asphalt to dirt outside of town). You have probably figured out the theme of the place and, for the life of me, I don't know why this is in Bismarck. Why not Roswell? If you ignore all the "space" paraphernalia, the place is actually quite good. Great wings and burgers with tall, frosty beer. If you are ever there - hey, anything is possible - try it out.

    Hahahah... And then great food.

  • Joel D.

Expect fried food. Ribs and fries good, salad was drowning in dressing. Games were sub par, the better ones were broken. Go find an arcade and eat a nice supper elsewhere.

Another fun stop on our weeklong vacation. The kids loved the place, especially the arcade where they could earn tickets to trade in for cheap plastic prizes (just like at Chucky Cheese). The food was OK, but nothing spectacular. I got a burrito, kids got burgers. More a place for parents to take their kids than anything else. Lots of kitschy space-themed decor, noisy, and hectic. Not the sort of place that draws in the crowds because of its menu.

  • Jaysen M.

A great place to eat with unique atmosphere. Since I was a kid, this has been THE place to eat since it has an awesome arcade. I can't say much for the food since I haven't eaten here for a couple years, but it is above average. A bit on the pricey side for what you get sometimes; I just had an order of fries once and it was about 7 bucks, not sure how that's even possible. I'll have to eat here again soon to see how they have changed over the years.

Space Aliens is a great theme restaurant. Full of cool area 51 types of stuff. The owners sold out of the McDonalds Chain and took on a new idea. Food is good, this wont be the best you have ever had but for Bismarck ND you will be happy. I usually ate the buffalo chicken pizza with an order of fries. Fries are one of my top five..all those years at mikey d's must of helped them here. They used to have one of my top five burgers. THE TACO burger! It WAS a big burger covered in jalapeno's nacho cheese and tortilla chips. Due to the recession they must of down sized the burger and lost many points with me due to that. Cool arcade..free popcorn in the bar..great place for kids..have fun.

We ate here over the summer. This is the worst BBQ I have ever eaten. It was so bad that both me and my GF could not eat our food. In addition, The bathrooms were filthy with one toilet clogged, tables were sticky, menus were filthy (should have walked out right away with this one, lesson learned!). The hostess was not friendly, and service was slow because 10 people were staffed in the empty bar area. The assistant manager was quite rude.Save your money and go somewhere else.
