After 2 previously failed attempts, I finally made it in the door at Lucettegrace! The first 2 times I tried, I failed to check their hours (silly me!) and walked up to closed doors. But not this time! I went for an afternoon treat during a stroll around downtown Raleigh and I was not disappointed. Their dessert case was filled with many tempting treats and since I was so indecisive, one of their friendly staff helped me narrow down my choices. I told him I was a chocolate-lover so he suggested the Larry Meets Escazu since it is also their top seller. And it is their top seller for good reason. It was rich, chocolatey, creamy and delicious. It was also the perfect dessert portion. It satisfied my chocolate craving, but it was not too much to where I would get sick from the richness. I highly recommend it. Based off of the other pictures on Yelp, it looks like their desserts rotate because I do not recognize some of the items from when I went. This is a great excuse to go back and see what other goodies they have. Some of their dessert items did seem pricey to me, which is why I am giving it 4 stars rather than 5. I would not go here regularly but it is a great place to treat yourself!

We came to meet my family at this patisserie on a late Monday afternoon about an hour before closing time. I love the bright yellow chairs and wooden floors and casual decor in this cafe. Located right on S. Salisbury street, there are two big windows where you can sit and watch the street traffic or find a more secluded seat on the side wall. We had to try the famous Larry Meets Escazu (local combination of Larry's Beans coffee creme brulee and the South American chocolate confection company). The dessert was so rich and so exquisite. I also tried a bite of the brownie and it was one of the most decadent brownies I have had. I also indulged in a cappuccino for a little afternoon pick-me-up and it was served in a beautiful mug with frothy milk. The prices of the desserts are about $4-6 on average and everything looks like a piece of art. A scrumptious place downtown and I am happy I finally had a change to splurge. I follow Lucette Grace on Facebook as well and it was interesting to see that they were featured in the August issue of Delta's airline magazine as one of the top things to do while in Raleigh.

I'm embarrassed to admit I'm still not quite sure how to pronounce "Lucettegrace", but I know for sure I'll be back. For someone as directionally challenged as me it was difficult to locate the place from my parking deck, but it was definitely worth the challenge! The space was very modern and chic and super bright. The assistants behind the counter were extremely helpful and patient with me and my many questions. I ultimately decided on the BBQ Breakfast Cake with a glass of the House Made Agua Fresca. The BBQ Breakfast Cake (eastern NC bbq, pimento cheese, scallions, buttermilk skillet cornbread) was so delicious! It is difficult to find cornbread that isn't dry but I finally found some!! The breakfast cake's size was about that of a muffin. The cornbread was perfectly moist and the bbq was the perfect savory addition to it. The agua fresca was very refreshing, although a little overbearingly sweet. I had to mix in some of the water to be able to enjoy it. The tables are pretty close together so it did get a little loud and we definitely heard all of our neighbor's conversation. However, it was still a great experience and I'll be back to try more of their sweets!

I'm really glad I don't live closer to Lucettegrace, or I'd be totally broke. And when I showed up homeless on my parents' doorstep, and they asked me what happened, the only explanation I'd be able to offer them is a teary-eyed "...Macarons!..." Seriously, just go here. Go by yourself, or with friends. There's benefits to both. If you have really nice friends, they might let you sample some of their pastries, therefore making it easier to try a little bit of everything. But if you go by yourself, no one has to know how many pastries you order, or whether or not you go back for seconds (or thirds). My favorite play is to order a large box of pastries to go, loudly proclaiming they are for "the office". Then get in the car and eat them all yourself, in private, where no one has to know your secret pastry shame.

The cutest bakery in town! If a kid's tea party were to come to reality, I feel like it'd look a lot like this~ I was a bit cranky when I first got here because downtown parking was a pain. However, as soon as I entered the bakery, all the workers greeted me with a smile! I was waiting for a friend so I decided to admire the beautiful pastries. I kept asking about each individual pastry to one of the workers and she knew so much about every single one of them! I ended up getting the Canneles and kouign-amann. The kouign-amann tasted just as it was described- a denser, sweeter croissant! The Canneles had a crunchy exterior and a super rich, vanilla-flavored interior. I loved every bite. For the size of the pastries, they are on the pricier side but the taste make it worth your buck. It's a clean and modern bakery perfect for chit chatting with friends!

Left us all feeling sick., bloated., diarrhea and vomiting just half hour after eating macaron, macaron ice cream sandwich, latte and pixie. Not just one but all three of us. I'm not sure what's in their recipe but certainly didn't go well with our chemistry. The macaron ice cream sandwich is just ok the ice cream filling taste old or not properly processed as I can feel the icicles on every bite., not smooth experience at all.,weird flavor combination even their macarons. 2 stars is for their great staff. Sorry no seconds for us. Will update my review as soon as we get better and will taste the items that we ordered to go.

Super friendly staff, delicious coffee and pastries and great atmosphere. Nice spot for morning-afternoon perching to work on your computer or meet a friend. And also a great evening spot for a unique dessert.

Phenomenal desserts and very polite staff. I enjoy getting my wife treats from here and she enjoys eating them. I see big things for this restaurant in the future. Keep up the good work.

so much more than DELICIOUS!!! I went here for some sweet treats and was absolutely blown away! Friends have told me they also have phenomenal savory items as well (like warm gravy filled biscuit and pimento cheese and bbq sandwich), but I can't comment on those directly. I ordered a 6 dessert sampler, which was a special as part of the Food and Wine Festival. Each piece was unique and packed full of sweet goodness. I can't for the life of me recall the exact names and flavors, but I was a particular fan of one composed of rich chocolate mousse and a layer of something coffee. I am not a coffee drinker, but these folks created this with perfection. The macaroon was the best I had ever had and the mascarpone cheese/lady finger creation complete with a berry on top was delightfully new to me. Can't go wrong with the salted caramel brownie goodness!! Seriously- all 6 items I tried, in addition to my iced chia latte, where incredible. I can't wait to go back!!!

This is just what downtown Raleigh needed! Kudos and THANKS to Pastry Chef Daniel Benjamin for bringing this level of expertise and tastiness to our ever-growing city. Not on the main downtown drag of Fayetteville St., it is one block behind on Salisbury. Seek and ye shall find! This is a very casual counter-service, get-your-own utensils, napkins & coffee after selecting from the mouth-watering choices place. We started with sharing two macarons...a cookie-butter one and passion fruit. Plus a Raspberry Pistachio Eclair. With a cup of perfect organic coffee for each of us, we were off to a $13 start. Macarons were fresh with just the right amount of chewiness and creaminess The eclair was light and flavorful while not too sweet. Items are on the small-side, which is great for indulging without that icky what-did-I-do-that-for feeling. Before we knew it, we (okay I) went back to choose one more to try. Went with the Blanc et Rouge for around $6: red fruit soaked ladyfinger, white chocolate cake, lemon cream, vanilla mascarpone mousse. Again, very light and delicate. Soft and moist and not too sweet. Highly recommend if you're into quality over quantity. And if you're wondering about the name, I read that Chef named it after his two daughters.

I've got to give these Daniel all the credit he deserves on this one. If downtown Raleigh wasn't ready for a patisserie, too bad, you've got one and it's spectacular. You might know him from his tenure at Herons. All of his desserts were memorable, but the rum cakes stuck out. Lo and behold, he makes them at his new digs. Anyone who knows me, knows I get dessert. I'm not one for one-note desserts, like cake, chocolate, or ice cream - don't they sound boring? Hit me with flavor and texture, a little crunch, a hint of spice, something warm, something cold, and even something savory. Our first time here we couldn't decide what we wanted. Tempted to get all them, cooler heads did prevail and we ended up just getting the big box with about a dozen items. Nearly everything Daniel put in our chic big box - stamped with "Made in Raleigh" - were perfect. The eclair was a lesson in restraint. Forget the over-sized eclair from your typical bakery, this one is carefully crafted and is as satisfying as anything thrice as large. My only gripe, and it's pretty minor, is too much air in the macarons. If you've heard me describe the perfect macaron, it resembles a soft cookie sandwich without the mess. 5 stars. Daniel knocks this concept out of the park. I almost don't care too much about the space. The offerings are so good I would rather grab a box and stuff it with as much of the pastries in the case as I can carry.

Items Selected: Larry's Coffee BBQ Breakfast Cake - Eastern Q, Pimento Cheese Dixie Cannonball - Cheddar, Sausage, Scallion, Sausage Gravy Center Kouign Amann Bourbon Pecan Pie Croissant Chocolate Caramel Nut Tart - Orange Cocoa Nib Caramel, Walnuts, Pistachios, Cashews, Almonds Coconut Cream Pie Choux Puff - Coconut Cake, Milk Chocolate Mousse Carrot Cake Verrine - Cream Cheese Mousse, Spiced Pecans, Chai Cream, Cranberry Recently opened in downtown Raleigh, and well praised by locals for its whimsical take on Southern cuisine reinterpreted through French Pastry, there was almost no doubt that Lucettegrace was a place prone to impress and arriving early on Friday morning to find the brightly lit space almost empty while two young ladies behind the counter sang the praises of nearly everything offered it was eventually on seven items that our order settled, the $40 tariff after tax and tip admittedly steep but entirely justified by the goods. Industrial-chic in design, with Edison bulbs and stools around high-tops plus a few heavy wood tables with actual seats, it was with items plated per our requests that dishes were carried to one of the later and able to watch the bakers work through a glass window as we indulged it seemed as though the large display up front was only a fraction of the team's plan for the day - brass canele molds, items appearing to be sheet cakes, and several other semi-constructed desserts being created before our eyes. Beginning first with savories, incidentally 2/3 of the items served warm, it can only be said that those interested in South's culinary traditions are likely to be shocked while at the same time amused; the BBQ Breakfast Cake a dense cornmeal muffin packed with everything good about Carolina 'cue and pimento cheese while the Dixie Cannonball harkened the technique of the egg centered chive biscuit at Craftsman + Wolves with warm sausage gravy turning the buttermilk shell into more delicious mess with each and every bite. Largely underwhelmed by a Kouign Amann that was oversalted and flaccid it was with a second cup of Larry's excellent coffee clearing the palate that the program got back on track and with a double baked shell that liberated boozy pureed pie filling upon shattering to the tooth I instantly wished we'd have visited Lucettegrace earlier in the week - a thought furthered by the perfect puff of choux surrounding coconut cream and milk chocolate, as well as by the sweet meets salty nut tart and aromatic cylinder of cake amidst pudding that made me wonder why I'd not previously associated the spices of chai with carrot cake, nor why others had not tried cranberry where raisins have for so long stood.

So I haven't been here yet, but had a custom made cake from here! Apparently the chef agreed to make a custom cake from my favorite three things which are peanut butter, banana, and honey bunches of oats! I loved it! It was amazing! Peanut butter plus banana plus a crust made of honey bunches of oats. I love that the chef was able to make it from scratch on the whim! Can't wait to actually go and try all the other desserts!

As much as I desired to give this amazing place five stars I just could not. One may ask was there any problems and I would say not at all. So I eagerly looked for at least one flaw but could not find any with the exception oft own. This five stars it is. So why four verses five? The service was amazing and quite informative about their product and the display case was pretty cool looking. However I simply wanted more. Perhaps the flaw is on myself due to the time I arrived. The case just was limited in variety. Had there been more variety my rating would certainly be greater. When one seeks out a bakery they enjoy all the fancy pastries but they expect some of the simple ones also. This is not supposed to be the case here because they are simply not a bakery, rather they are a patisserie. At a patisserie one would expect to find all the amazing goodness of Luttecagrace. From the 14k gold graced cake shimmering with chocolate ganache to the amazingly made macaroons no flaw was found in taste. My effort to find out everything good just kept getting better they had a kitchen visible to their guests to which I found to be quite clean. From the tables to the floors it was spotless. Not only material items but the staff was well groomed. Another thing that put me in awe was no off brand items were to be found only top of the line product went in the recipes. Next I journeyed to the rest rooms to find them well stocked and very clean. Whomever owns this patisserie takes great pride in maintaining a clean and desirable establishment. Finally, once one enters to when they leave from the ambiance to the quality of food you are sure to be pleased.

Food: 5.0 Ambiance: 4.5 Food/Price: 4.0 Best bakery in the triangle. Macarons are off the charts. If I had a choice of eating a Lucettegrace macaron or being 12 years old watching Mariah Carey's seminal video "Butterfly" in my room while my parents weren't home, I 'd choose the macaron. My buddy described his confection as "heavenly," a word that's never escaped his lips in my two years of knowing him. My only complaint is the central location with high visibility and what looks to be a robust security system. Luccettegrace should consider moving to a dingier strip of Raleigh possibly behind some tall buildings and as far away from the police station as possible. Doing this, in addition to removing all security cameras would add up to significant savings which could be directly passed on to the consumer. On an completely unrelated note, if anyone knows where I can get an affordable glass cutter PM me.

While I'm more of a savory guy over sweets, lucettegrace is a sweets and pastry shop that's worth the calories! Pastry Chef Daniel Benjamin, formerly from Herons has set out to change the pastry landscape in the Triangle and I'd have to say mission accomplished! From the outside, lucettegrace is unassuming but glows lightly in the night. Inside you'll find a beautiful hardwood floor and Edison lights around the space. Of course the action is in back at the pastry counter. Baked goods to the left, fancy pastries to the right, I've tried out their kouign amann, a salted caramel brownie and pouf. While they all taste quite good, what's different is the complexity and presentation of lucettegrace's sweets. Definitely on a different level here in the RDU. Along with the pastries, lucettegrace serves up tea, coffee and will soon have savory sandwiches and taking on more of a cafe feel to the menu. But congrats Chef Daniel on bringing lucettegrace to Raleigh!

Holy. Wow. Talk about something really special and unique popping up out of nowhere on an unassuming downtown sidestreet. If you're looking for the perfect way to make someone's day (could be your own... no judgement), pick them up a cute little happy-meal-for-grown-ups box of Lucettegrace pastries. The selection here is expertly crafted, meticulously presented, and instills a sense of wonder before you've even taken a bite. And then you do. And that's how this review started. After my first bite of the chocolate/peanut butter/toasted marshmallow/rice crispy treat thing I believe they called a Spoonfull. (Let me clarify, it's more like 10 spoonfuls, and you will eat every one yourself without sharing). The staff is extremely knowledgeable about ingredients and process and will tell you all about both until you can't help but buy one of everything. Apparently they also offer a savory menu with soups and sandwiches, but having started with dessert, I'll have to save those for my review update. While prices may seem a little steep to some on first glance, the expertise, effort, and attention to detail when it comes to the high quality ingredients that go into each dessert make them well worth the price. Bonus points for complimentary WIFI and a full coffee bar. Lucettegrace is the type of place you expect in New York or San Francisco - discovering it for the first time today felt like being a tourist in my own city. Really excited to have them in the neighborhood. Lauryn C. is definitely going to have to keep creating exercise-related Yelp events to offset the damage I'm going to do here ;)

We've returned many times after the first trip because I wanted to feel as if I were in Paris on my way to Cartier. I may as well have been in a jewelry store for all of the gemstones were expensive, pretty and very good. Now all they need are two pretty French looking boys very St. Laurent to explain the exquisite sweets on display. The girls behind the counter looked very serious but we got a few things and felt as if were making out with heaven. It's expensive and very chic without too much gaudiness.

Lucettegrace might be my biggest surprise of 2014. I knew about the chef leaving the Umstead Hotel, but I had no idea they would open so quickly in full force. Inside, the shop is modern and light. Grays, dark and light woods, stone - all accented with the yellow bar stools, aprons, and to-go boxes. Behind the counter, there's a lot of activity with fresh baked goods constantly rotating. It's a very nice, and the only complaint I understand is that the style echoes a lot of the newer restaurants that have opened up. After enjoying a light lunch at Capital Club 16 around the corner, I stopped by Lucettegrace with some coworkers. The steps lead you right to the pastry counter and case, and you're faced with a tough decision. If you're looking for something chocolately like I usually am, you can safely make a quick choice with the salted caramel brownie 2.0, the Escazu chocolate eclair, or a cookie. I'm looking forward to trying more, including those macarons. It looks like a good place to get some work done for a couple hours - they have plenty of outlets for your phone and laptop.

I've been a lot of places in my (relatively) short life and tried ALOT of good food over the years... Places like Lucettegrace and making me rank Raleigh as one of my all-time favorite foodie cities ever. Everything here is just such a higher level of quality in comparison to a lot of places i've been! Quality is obviously top-notch here, which explains the price for many of these very pretty deserts. I won't lie, it does pain me to pay $5 on something that will only last a few bites, but when i'm all done I definitely find it worth it. A lot of people tell me that a good way to judge a bakery or patisserie is by their macaroons, so that will definitely be my next treat to try! So far what i've tried has been top-notch. The girl at the counter was also super nice and patient with me while I took my time to figure out what I wanted! The space is very clean and modern, with an industrial feel to it. It's not really made to sit and spend hours getting work done, but instead to grab dessert with friends after dinner or a treat after working downtown. Despite being metal the chairs are surprisingly comfy (and a cool shade of yellow) and there are plenty of tables for when they are busy. The counter area is well lit, displaying all the treats, as well as well stocked for you to top off your coffee with cream/sugar/etc. Also, random note. Their plates are very cool. Dunno why that caught my eye in particular but I want them for my house! All in all I will definitely be back! Perhaps it won't be daily or weekly, but Lucettegrace is a absolutely wonderful place to throw all calorie-and-money fears out the window and just treat yourself!

Yes y'all!! Lucettegrace is really a fantastic place to hang out, sip counter culture coffee, have a macaroon, people watch. You can do it all! The inside is fresh, simple, clean, open. I like the vibe. You walk up a few steps and head for the glass case of sin. The amount of delicious looking sweets and treats is enough to give me diabetes just by looking. I've had a chocolate chip cookie, a latte, and drip coffee. All of which are delicious. And the staff - SO friendly. If I lived closer, I'd be in all the time. Thank God my office moved from downtown Raleigh to Cary so I won't continue to gain weight by justifying a stop in. Parking is kind of iffy - you're lucky to grab a spot on the street, but a stroll on a nice day to burn off some of those calories you're going to consume isn't too shabby either.

Since I can't have Payards (NYC) I have found the next best thing!!! I AM IN LOOOOVE! The Larry meets Escazu along with the pistachio macaroon was just FABULOUS! I AM SOOOO GLAD THAT LUCETTEGRACE IS HERE

My favorite sweet indulgence in Raleigh, NC. When you want a special dessert - for yourself or to share with others - this is the place. The buche de noel cake we special ordered for our Winter Solstice party was gorgeous and oh so delicious!

  • Emma D.

Kouign-amann was delicious, perfectly crusty and sugary and buttery. Coffee macaron was a bit dry, but raspberry macaron had great crispness on the outside and velvety smoothness to the innards. Why are the caneles so expensive though?? Even for a high-end pastry shop... Everything in the pastry case was beautiful, packaged prettily, too. Great for impressive gifts for the host/hostess.

Lucettegrace is an impressive addition to the downtown Raleigh restaurant scene from former Umstead/Herons chef Daniel Benjamin, whose skills as a master pâtissier have been generating good foodie buzz for many years. These are some world class goods here, seriously high end restaurant desserts made accessible to anyone in downtown Raleigh who wants to stop in for a bite. Chef Daniel's ingredients as well as his skill and creativity are top notch, and you can't really go wrong with anything in the shop. Try closing your eyes, turning around three times and pointing to something at random in the pastry case. It simplifies the painful process of decision making when you want ALL THE THINGS because every single one of the magnificent edible jewels on display looks transcendentally delicious. Offerings on opening day included some impressively polished looking and complex pastries such as a chocolate tart with locally made Escazu chocolate, apricot gelee and vanilla cream in a meltingly tender short crust. The macaroons (three flavors today; pumpkin-passion, salted caramel and vanilla chestnut) are impeccable, and his signature cookie with sour cherry is addictively delicious. On the savory end, a bacon-Parrano Danish was impressively tasty, and there were a few other delectable-looking offerings like the Dixie Cannonball and BBQ Breakfast Cake. Larry's Beans will be brewing up the coffee to go with this amazing spread. It is worth noting that this isn't a place you can expect to grab cookies and coffee for 99 cents; his prices are commensurate with his top quality ingredients, with cookies starting at $2,25 - $2,50 and most pastries from $4 to $6. Absolutely worth it, and much less than you would spend for the exact same dessert in a high end restaurant. The atmosphere is simple and pleasant, with a limited amount of rustic table seating. The cafe really revolves around the pastry case - as it should; his elegant creations speak for themselves - and the open-window kitchen where you can watch the chef hard at work. Highly recommended for a downtown stop. They have elegant to-go boxes, and some especially for macaroons. Don't ask me how I know it holds eight; surely I didn't really buy that many. Okay, I admit I did, but I promise to share. Maybe. Those are really good macaroons. Look, I left some crumbs for you.

Incredible baked goods! Love the sweet and savory selection. Their menu is constantly changing but I love the variety of treats based on what's available seasonally. Service was excellent. I left with a big box of treats (macarons, cakes, breads) to go.

Perfection. Most delicious pastries in the Triangle. Each pastry is so delectable and balanced that it completely satisfies...You don't want to eat more, because you want to hold on to the memory of the first. So really, it's an effective weight loss strategy...ok maybe that's going too far ;) Ham and cheese croissant and bourbon pecan pie pastry are to die for.

What isn't there to love about this place? It's an excellent coffee shop in DTR with great baked goods, cookies, and coffee. The decor is simple, open, and inviting while the staff is tremendously friendly and helpful. When planning a day downtown, this is usually my starting point.

A true patisserie, and what an addition to downtown Raleigh! This bakery is conveniently located in a highly walkable area adjacent to tons of restaurants and bars. The inside is very open, with a hip-chic yellow-and-grey accents vibe (especially love the "carelessly" artful draping of Edison bulb cords wrapped and wound 'round lighting fixtures). The bakery cases feature the most gorgeous pastries I've seen in the Triangle. As someone who prides myself on baking skills, I am quick to admit it would take years to perfect the architecture and artistry of these individual beauties. The first thing you'll notice is the careful, precise outer construction of the desserts; but inside, you'll discover they are just as intricate, with delightful layers of varying flavors and textures. I saw some of the dessert 'blueprint' sketches on Facebook -- proof that they are craftily engineered from the inside out! Bottom line: these are not the types of pastries you can get just anywhere; the effort, time, and expertise is evident. How do they taste? Just about as divine as they look! I've had three chocolate pastries (my favorite of which was the rocky road eclair; although I thought the choux was a bit soggy, the restraint with the chocolate and marshmallow pairing resulted in a surprisingly delicate balanced dessert that could have too easily been sugary and over-the-top) and a carrot cake (with a lighter-than-air mousse-like cream cheese frosting). Even the one savory item we ordered -- a chickpea sandwich -- was tasty and ideal for summer. The baguette was quite dense and crusty (great baguette qualities, to be sure! but it does make for a tough sandwich to bite into and chew!). The only real disappointment were the drinks. It being a hot day, several of us opted for iced coffee (expecting a basic iced coffee); instead, it's a small dose of coffee and a heavy dose of cream and sugar. My mom actually loved it; she's Vietnamese, and thought it strongly resembled Vietnamese coffee. But others were put off by the sweetness. I ordered a Lebanese iced tea; the description sounds herbal, mentioning notes of rosewater. Like the iced coffee drinkers in the group, I expected this to be a basic steeped tea poured over ice. But it too was very sweet (not unlike Southern iced tea). Some more detailed descriptions might have steered us to a better beverage for our tastes. But that's a small suggestion for an otherwise stellar spot.

I once read somewhere that desserts is stressed spelled backwards. Coincidence, I think not. But I thank my lucky stars (5 in this case) that my stresses have finally met relief and effortlessly melt away with the unique treats at Lucettegrace. It brings me back to my days living in France, where the art of handcrafted pastries and baked goods reminds you just how good life can get, especially after you've just shrunk half your winter wardrobe because you mistook the Celsius temperature on the washing machine for the wash time. But, I digress. Everything I have tried here has been unforgettable, and the passion Chef Daniel has for his work is clearly evident in each bite of his tasty pastries. The place has great coffee to accompany your selected treat (I recommend the iced coffee with condensed milk), and now serves a tempting lunch menu. Also, I'm thankful that the manager Jon is always helpful to recommend a selection when I'm too stressed to think. I will say that the Brown Butter Cookie is quite frankly the best 'chocolate chip' cookie I've had, but I can't ever seem to choose a favorite. It's just that good!

All the following judgements are based on my experience and own opinion. Locations: downtown Raleigh. Parking: park on the road or find somewhere else. Downtown is always harder to find a pot to park. Service: nice, friendly but not fast. It may not be the place if you need a quick bite. Atmosphere: chilly. The decoration of the whole store is modernized. Bakeries: where should I even start? I would say the croissant is multiple layers, really crispy and tendered. Cherry is mixed well into croissant. Dixie Cannonball is not too salty, which is really surprising. Even though I am no fan of salty food, this pastry makes me wanna go back and have another bite. Crust with inside is balanced well. I recommend warmed up before you eat. Only disappointed part is the size of the cake. It is just a cake bite size so if you are in a craving sugar mood, you probably end up with another one to eat. Price: pricy. I had eclair, white chocolate cake, dixie cannonball and cherry pie croissant, and it was 10+ dollars (cannot remember now) Overall: I highly recommend this place if you are looking for quality pastries and hangout with ya friends. This is one of the few bakeries that I recommend to go.

I hate to say it, but I was a little underwelmed. I had a very tasty (albeit small) pastry with a buttery flaky crust and some hazelnut and chocolate creamy stuff on the inside. The store was a little too bright, a little too sterile, and a little too cold. I get what they are going for, but just nothing seemed warm nor cozy. I can't imagine curling up here with my laptop. Service was okay. There were three or four people behind the counter, just staring at me as I contemplated my decision. No suggestions. (Although, they did greet me with a hello when I initially walked inside.) Also, they rang me up and gave me a cute little box, but didn't offer a receipt or anything. Kinda weird. Nothing was really *bad* per-se, but nothing about my visit here stood out. And that's too bad, because I think that tiny little pastry was pretty delicious. I dunno.....I would try it again, but I don't imagine this will be a go-to spot for me.

This place rocks! My wife and I were in the area and looking for a little bakery/cafe to hang out in and this one came up as new on yelp. We were not disappointed! The place has a really cool vibe with lots of yellow and different types of wood, a minimalist display case of some of the most gorgeous desserts I've ever seen and really nice people who served us. We shared the caramel nut tart and the coconut creme pastry (sorry I can't recall the actual names but I'm posting a pic as well). They were both fantastic! Not overly sweet or heavy and really hit the spot. We had some of Larrys coffee to go with it and thoroughly enjoyed our time! Can't wait to go back and try all of the rest of the awesomeness in that case!

Very cute cafe! The atmosphere is hipster and chill and I love the decor. We got a croissant and cinnamon pastry with a chai and a cup of earl grey tea. We lived just sitting and chatting there. Would definitely hang out there with my friends and munch on their many pastries.

I stopped in on Wednesday after seeing they were closing early today. The website had beautiful photos which wet my appetite. After arriving there was a line of people blocking the counter. I managed to browse through the people to see a rather picked over selection of items. Apparently by 130pm the good stuff was gone, as the selection looked rather picked over, and not as nice as the website photos. There were a number of cookies and baked goods available. I decided to skip the line and the wait until another day. I do wish the hours were a little better. My work schedule generally rules out M-F. Edit: Stopped in and grabbed a couple of items. The chocolate eclair was a perfect combination of puffy, crisp and not too sweet.

I had been wanting to try this place for a while. Today I made the trip downtown. Prices: I'm very familiar with french pastries having spent a lot of time in France visiting my french family. French pastries are very labor intensive, hence the price. But these prices are astronomical! I just could not justify paying nearly $3 for a tiny one-bite macaron. I skipped the pastries because of the prices - too small and too expensive. Service: was weird and awkward. We walked in and were greeted quickly. After that we were ignored as we stood at the counter staring at the girl behind it hoping she would notice us and take our order. There was another person busying herself with putting up silverware as the line of customers grew at the counter. Not sure why the silverware couldn't wait. Bread: I judge all french bakeries by the bread they serve. I ordered a ham and cheese sandwich and was disappointed. It was stale, chewy and mostly tasteless. A true french bakery bakes bread daily and would never sell day-old bread. This bread tasted two days old, at least. The cheese was bright orange and reminded me of Kraft slices wrapped in cellophane. The ham was forgettable.

When it comes to cafes and pastries, I'm always excited to try it. I was intrigued by the name and all the reviews about their goodies so I made my way to Raleigh just to try lucettegrace. It's not so much a cafe IMO but more of a patisserie. They do have your basic coffees and some teas--which come out in random mugs; you probably won't get the same cup as the person in front of you (I think), and that's unique and cool. But those pastries!!!! First of all, they all look so pretty. But it's also scrumptious and not overly sweet. I love the perfectly small and different flavored eclairs. They have breakfast pastries, macarons, and other goodies. The space is very bright like Laurie V. mentioned, and there's not much privacy especially if you're the only ones in there. I also wouldn't want to stay but rather take all my pastries to go. But seriously, absolutely freaking delicious and gorgeous pastries that are a step up from what I've seen at other places.

Love the care and pride this business puts into their creations. Very nice atmosphere, I could totally use this place as an alternative to my home office. Would like to have a better coffee offering than being offered a cup and being directed to the pump-o-mastic around the corner... Starbucks has you on that one. If you are a coffee specialty drink person your options are better but for plain Jane coffee people like myself that part of the LG experience could definitely be improved upon. Do go visit this place even if you don't like pastries. They have other savory offerings and it's just pretty to look at!

Nice space- love those cute yellow seats! The Dixie Cannonball was good, if a little on the small side for $5. But the brown butter chocolate chip cookie was oddly sour. I like dark chocolate, and I like artisanal chocolate, but this was kind of mushy and gross. It looked so good; it tasted so bad. I'm glad that places like this are stirring up the downtown scene, but I wasn't blown away by lucettegrace the way I'd hoped. That said, their pastries looked great and I'll update when I go back and try those.

Had a lovely dessert after an early dinner downtown. Decisions decisions. Everything was beautiful. Was worried they would be prettier than they were tasty, luckily my worry was unfounded. Delicious! Had a cherry cheesecake macaroon. Perfect fluffiness of the meringue. Fresh. And filling was executed well. Also had the peach pouf. The pastry and cream were to die for good, but for me the peach overshadowed the cream. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Will be back! Kind of wish I didn't know how good this place is now! Would be such a fun place to meet up with a friend for dessert.

I don't believe most people realize they offer lunch, and I've had some great sandwiches and soups here. I think this is the best spot downtown for a quick bite. Of course the pastries are fanrastic as well.

I came here for the first time last week after having several friends and coworkers bring some of their treats to my office. The desserts are absolutely divine and the environment is so classy but not stuffy that you feel sophisticated just walking in. The desserts are very rich so sharing or leftovers is expected. But its so good you won't want to share a single bite! I can't wait to go back...yummy!

Pâtisserie Gallery with some GREAT Savory Breakfasterie kind of Works! Looks VERY ac though looks can be deceiving, I heard they know each other, but Hearing something does not make it true Industrial though cozy, yet OPEN and comfortable Decor, Staff were also friendly and Helpful describing these pastries! The Food reminded me of Amelie's Bakery (not the film) though much better tasting with more Beautiful and thoughtful architecture Eclairs :: SMALL ! ! ! and SIZE Matters a LOT to me! I LOVE Small Eclairs and these are more unique, beyond Size! One was Chocolate Cream Filled and though my Bride enjoyed it, it was too lite for me! The other Eclair was my favorite which surprised me Rum Cake was in the description, though seemed more like Bread Pudding in a Canneles on a plate, everything was, on a plate, each on a separate plate Macaroons :: Seasonal Flavors and Beautiful... Looks Matter! Cookies and other Sweets were and will be a reason to Return Breakfast Beyond what I already mentioned, though my Breakfast was what I already mentioned! Sweets work for any meal for me, or EVERY Meal!

I love this patisserie, lucky to have found it shortly after their opening and now it's my go to place. My favorites are Blanc en rouge, Larry meets escazu, Vacation and Carrot cake are yummy. The chef pâtissier is on par balancing flavor, richness, with just the right amount of sweetness, without adding so much sweetness to dull the flavors. I'm sort of glad it's out of town, otherwise I would go regularly and I fear it would all go to my waist (oh my)!

This place really deserves 5 stars not only for their great desserts, the vibes are an a+++++. We ordered the earl grey and coffee salted caramel macarons. OMG!!!! The earl grey flavor wasn't strong enough but the coffee caramel was spot ON!!!!! We also got the eclair with pistachio raspberry filling which were ok. The whatchamacallit wasn't too sweet which is so much better than the ton of sugar at most places. We also got the Dixie canon and the bbq breakfast cake and the bit two. I'll give that review when I have enough stomach space.

I had planned to go to Lucettegrace during Animazement weekend as a meetup with friends. We were staying at the Marriott so the venue was within walking distance, and not tedious to get to, which was super convenient. Upon entering the venue, the modern interior was quite inviting. The staff was super friendly and didn't gawk at us strangely for our cosplays, I even got complimented on my bizarre contact lenses by one of the staff :D. The desserts were a bit on a pricier scale, and as I was buying for myself and friends that couldn't make it, it did add up, but the taste and quality of the desserts made it well worth it. I'm a sucker for macarons and I loved the flavors available. There were quite a few desserts we got between all of us and shared, I ordered a rosewater lemon iced tea, and not one thing was disappointing. I will definitely be revisiting Lucettegrace when I attend Animazement again next year!

Nice size for a coffee shop downtown. Didn't have any problems finding seating. I got the iced coffee and it was great! The iced coffee has some condensed milk mixed in so it is on the sweeter end. If you come here after 5 the a good portion of the bakery pastries are buy one get one free - so that was a nice little surprise!

My girlfriend & I checked the place out yesterday, Bastille Day, by complete coincidence. Wow. This hidden spot on Salisbury street is amazing. Pastries that catch your attention and make your mouth water the instant you walk up to the counter. We arrived just early enough to catch breakfast and decided to stay for lunch as well. We each had the Dixie Cannonball (I believe it was the name) & we were truly blown away. I wanted two more they were so good. You have to check this place out sometime! You will not regret it, I promise!

Very nice bakery. The inside is clean and bright and although a little on the modern/conservative it it's still inviting. The staff is friendly and offered to help with suggestions if we needed. All of the pastries were pretty much the best looking ones I have ever seen and their display cases pretty much make you want to try one of everything. I had the ham and cheese croissant and tried a bite of the mushroom and oyster quiche. I was more partial to the croissant myself but both were delicious. The only bad thing I could tell about this place was the prices. This is a upscale bakery and their prices very much follow suit. I doubt I'll make this place a regular stop but would certainly try it again.

First time visiting this little bakery. We ordered 2 savory muffins and 2 sweet concoctions and all 4 were very good. The 2 savory muffins were great; one was a muffin with scallions stuffed with sausage gravy, the other was a cornbread muffin stuffed with BBQ pork & pimento cheese. The 2 sweets were the Pixie (chocolate mousse & caramel) and the Blanc et Rouge (Lady finger with lemon cream and mascarpone mousse). All were excellent. The coffee was good but not great. The price was a tad high for muffins and sweets but worth it given the level of decadence. We'll be back for sure to try the rest of the menu!

When you first enter Lucettegrace, you are immediately greeted with tasty treats. Since it was after 11 am, they were offering their savory menu. I decided to get a mushroom and oyster quiche, a brown butter Escazu goat milk chocolate chunk cookie, and a cappuccino. I enjoyed everything especially the cookie. My boyfriend got the ham and cheese croissant, which I really liked as well. Lucettegrace is the perfect stop to go to after spending the day or after dinner dessert place in downtown. Looking forward to checking out again!

5 stars! I came here an hour before closing on a Saturday night and had a wealth of delicious options to choose from. I chose the coconut cream puff and a coffee to dine in, and a lemon meringue tart to go (for breakfast). All were perfection, and I LOVE that they warmed my coffee cup with hot water - I do that at home. Hate pouring coffee/tea into a cold mug because it results in a lukewarm drink. I also appreciate that they offer milk in addition to half n half. I love milk with my coffee. My friend loved their salted Carmel brownie. I had a bite and I agree - delicious! Service was very friendly and I can't wait to come back and try their savory selections.

I'm going to save space here and just say ditto to all the wonderful reviews that have been written before. Lucettegrace is a fantastic addition to the Raleigh food scene, a one of a kind place that will not be duplicated. My only down point is that I find a strange, slightly unpleasant taste to some of their chocolate dishes. I wish I could out my finger in it, but I can't. Regardless, the pastries are fantastic and it has become at least a monthly treat for us, if not more often.

Outstanding patisserie with abundant and delicious choices. You'll find a range of meticulously baked goods along with a complete coffee service. It's exciting to see the pastry arena getting competitive in Raleigh. Suddenly we've got several excellent choices and the competition will benefit us as consumers. This patisserie is another huge step forward for the area. The store is sleek, bright and perky. It has plentiful seating and a bunch of electrical and USB outlets. This is a great place to hang out, meet with others or just sit and get some work done.

I just ate a bourbon pecan croissant and it was delicious ! It took me a few minutes to decide on what to get because there were so many awesome looking choices! The store is very clean looking and fresh looking! I like the wood floors and the bright yellow chairs. There is also a window that you can see into the kitchen, which is pretty cool. They also have a selection of yummy looking lunch items. The staff was pretty friendly but I was maybe looking for more suggestions and conversation in general. If it wasn't 3 in the afternoon I would get a cup of coffee. The prices are a little steep but the pastry was very tasty! I would like to come back in the morning and get a cup of coffee, this is not somewhere I could come often because of the prices but for a nice treat it's perfect!

If your on a diet when you come in here you will get cold sweats. I've only tried some of the savory options, but wow are they good. Awesome to have a place like this in Raleigh, a bakery that would be at home (quality wise) in any major metropolitan area.

I had the pleasure of discovering Lucettegrace during a "Friendsgiving" gathering one evening after work. You walk in to sweet and savory goods that the view/smell simply make your jaw drop. The server asked if I wanted something sweet or savory. There was still a full selection at 6pm. Upon seeing the Two Bit Cake, I was sold! You can purchase a personal cake or a large cake. The Two Bit Cake is pure chocolate divinity. I tried to wait for my friends to arrive, but the beautiful chocolate that was before me was simply calling my name. Once I dove in, I was welcomed by a soft chocolate mousse. Complete deliciousness!! I was a good wife and took the husband the Salisbury Cake home, also very good. I understand why Chef Benjamin has developed the reputation he has, it is very well deserved.

I stumbled upon this unique place yesterday. Since I'm a foodie, I had to try. Presentation of the bake goods is different however beautiful. My choice was the Cherry Pie Crossiant in honor of my good friend and foodie partner. The Cherry Pie Crossiant was absolutely fabulous! Also the iced coffee was great and prepared differently. I would most definitely return.

Extremely disappointed in this place! I happened to be downtown at around 8:45pm with a low blood sugar. I realized it was nearing closing time for them, but as I was right at the entrance feeling sick, I knew I had to get something here quickly. I waited at the counter awkwardly as I didn't know if the girl behind the counter was ready to take my order. She just kind of stared at me with glazed over eyes. I knew it was the end of the day and didn't think much of it, and told her I was ready to place my order. I ordered a chocolate & coconut type of cake with mousse (I can't remember the actual name), I also couldn't pronounce the name, and when I attempted, the waitress behind the counter gave me a rather annoyed look as she took the pastry/cake and put it in a box. She then rushed me out pretty much, and that was that. I went outside, again because they were closing, and tasted the cake. I have never been more disappointed in something that cost $6 in my life. I could honestly remake the entire pastry/cake (I actually have no clue what it really is to be honest) at home. It tasted as if someone mixed snack pack chocolate putting with water, until the chocolate flavor completely disintegrated, then made a chocolate box cake with no oil (as dry as possible), cut out a tiny circle of the dry cake and put it on top of the pudding mixture, then smashed a marshmallow and put on top of that. Oh and don't forget to sprinkle coconut shavings over it (the best part actually). Then to top it all off, let the entire thing sit out for about three days. This is the equivalent of what I had. I honestly ate about four bites and had to throw it out. I am so disappointed I spent $6 on this. The only thing I got out of this experience was the cake thing raising my blood sugar. Which was a plus. For that, they get one star.

I've been to Lucette Grace a couple of times since they opened. The first time I got the vibe that they were a pastry and coffee place; it wasn't until my second visit they I got to try their more savory items. This place has awesome coffee (my favorite being a simple vanilla latte), delicious brunch creations (biscuits and gravy merge into one with their Dixie Cannonballs), and sumptuous desserts (these change regularly but are all amazing). They take pride in paying their workers a legitimate wage, so there's no tipping. Grab your coffee and treats and enjoy!

Lucettegrace was EXACTLY what Raleigh was missing. I'd tried multiple places for desserts and pastries and always ended up disappointed. Well, Lucettegrace has never disappointed and continues to impress me with everything I try! They are also amazing to work with for specialty cakes and macarons.

The best macarons I've encountered in North Carolina. My favorite flavors are coconut and gingerbread. The coconut has a delicate creamy texture rather than containing chewy coconut shreddings. It's perfectly accented with lime. The gingerbread is well paired with cranberry filling. The yuzu is also a solid choice with it's lightly flavored cream cheese filling. Unfortunately, the pistachio was cloyingly sweet for my taste and the citrus was also oversweetened and lacked the zing I expected. However, all things considered the coconut, gingerbread and yuzu more than compensate for the weaker flavors. Each of the staff members I've encountered have been willing and able to provide excellent, knowledgeable customer service. I look forward to visiting again the next time I'm in Raleigh!

Tried the morning bun and a piece of nougat and they were both pretty good, but unremarkable. However, my wife tried the chocolate coffee cake and thought it was amazing. I think I need to try more of the menu before I make up my mind. The restaurant itself had three people working who didn't really greet us or offer any advice. They seemed more interested in talking to each other than to us.

The atmosphere and desserts were awesome! great new addition to downtown. All the desserts look like little pieces of art and the two we tasted were as delicious as the looked. The chef obviously puts a lot of passion and thought into every aspect of every dessert. I love the whole concept and will definitely be coming back.

I finally got a chance to check out Lettucegrace and wasn't disappointed. All of the pastries sounded delicious and looked like little works of art. It was hard to pick just one, but I decided on the bourbon pecan croissant and ate every last crumb. I will definitely be back to try out more of their scrumptious looking deserts.

I've been to Herons many times in the past and the desserts and pastries have never disappointed me. Here at lucettegrace, I am never disappointed either! I love the pastries here. If you're not into sweets, then you won't be disappointed by the amazing selection of savory goods here! There's something for everyone and I can't imagine not coming here on a weekly basis. The staff are friendly and they work quickly! I love it here and I honestly can't wait to go back for more! Finally, a place that makes french macarons on a regular basis. I can't believe how long I've gone without their Dixie Cannonballs. This place is a must!

Amazing! Lucettegrace takes pastries far above and beyond average. My favorite is the Bourbon Pecan Pie Croissant but a close second is the savory "Dixie Cannonball". I haven't had a chance to try any of their other lunch options since they extended their menu but I have heard great things. It may be a tad pricey but Lucettegrace is definitely worth trying!

I've been there 3 times, each time trying something different. Between my wife and I, we've tried at least 10 different items. We are so pleased they are here. Chef Daniel does a great job every time! My wife says the selections were just as good as what she had in Paris last year - without the cost of a plane flight!!! I'm hooked!

lucettegrace is as good as it gets if you're looking for pastries and sandwiches. My wife had the Dixie Cannonball and she let me try a bite. Simply perfect with the gravy on the inside of the biscuit with sausage and cheese infused into it. I had a French toast pastry and morning bun that were awesome as well. So many ingredients in all of these that they're hard to describe, a flavor explosion for sure. There are lots of bakeries in the area but lucettegrace is the place to go for something a little different that offers higher end pastries that I haven't seen duplicated elsewhere.

  • Andy J.

We went to visit Lucettegrace yesterday. This bakery looks very clean and modern. The guy on the counter was very nice and polite. Unfortunately he was not very helpful. Only asking if we need help, but never really offer explaination for the cake that we were currently looking or discusing/considering, and then when we said we want this cake, he would say that he likes that one too. The macaroon, eclair and canneles were all very good. The Ardeche was good too but we had to stop eating it halfway since we found a strand of hair in the cream. Overall, it's a bit expensive but good stuffs and worth the price. Would have given 4 stars but dropped it to 3 because of the hair.

Great coffee and desert spot! Prices range from $2-6 for a fancy pastry and they have a large selection that beats their nearby competition. There is a small savory menu that appears more geared for lunch. Since the lunch menu is not very large, I think of this more as a good go-to desert or coffee shop .

  • Gillian S.

Super impressed. I came to meet up with a friend and I was blown away with the incredible menu. The staff was amazing and knowledgable. The desserts were ridiculously good. I wish I could go there again and again but I am just visiting for a few days.

Really can't think of anything else you would want in a coffee/dessert shop. The decor is great, the food is as much artwork as it is delicious, location downtown, prices good. Great spot to chill at and drink coffee, or just stop in for a quick treat. Even the to-go boxes are fancy! One negative thing: everyone trips on the top stair into the place! It's taller than the other ones so it catches you off guard. Pick those feet up :).

Are you looking to purchase a dozen half frozen, then baked in store bagles and cream cheese and some bear claws? YOU HAVE COME TO THE WRONG PLACE! Are you looking for Sweet and Savory treats that are elegant delectiable treats that are not only a work of art for your belly, but also a delight to the eyes and your senses? Ah, well then my friend, you have entered the art gallery of Pastries: Lucettegrace. If you allowed me only one word to say how I feel about Lucettegrace I would have to pick 'Smitten'. I am TOTALLY smitten with this place. But lucky for me (maybe not so lucky for you), I have 5,000 characters to express my obsession, :D. As you may have read in some of my other reviewes I really don't like going downtown, unless I have a darn good reason. Lucettegrace is my darn good reason. We (in Dec) decided to go check it out one saturday morning right as they opened in an effort to find good free parking, and before the crowds.....I have been feening for it every since.....and somehow I talked hubbie into getting up at 630 5 consecutive Saturdays in a row to be able to drive from Youngsville to get here when the doors open at 8. Stalker much you might say? Maybe.....probably......yeah, guilty. I'm pretty sure I took something like 1,000,000 photos here.....or something pretty close to it....so check them out if you don't want to read any further. And while I'm thinking about it, not only are the pasteries eye catching so is the shop/cafe. There is plenty of space to sit, relax, and enjoy your treats and the company of good friends! For the Savory we have tried: Dixie Cannonball: Think fluffy Cheese biscuit filled with white sausage pepper gravy....it's the classy version of biscuits and gravy. Southern elegance at it's best! BBQ Breakfast cake: BBQ, pimento cheese, and a sweet but light cornbread cake....I've personally never liked pimento cheese, but this IS AMAZING. Dare I repeat my previous comment from above? I have to....Southern elegance and charm on a plate! Bacon and Parron Danish: flaky, cheesey bacony goodness, you can't go wrong with this either! For the sweet: (all of these were amazing, and I can't reccommend one over the other, so really, you're just going to have to make multiple trips and try them ALL) Blanc et Rouge: White Chocolate, raspberries filled with a vanilla bean mouse, this is light and airy and doesn't make you feel over done by sweet. Coconut Cream Pie Choux Pouf: another wonderfully light, but not overly sweet treat, with a lovely coconut flavor. Nanner Budino: This is NOT your mom's instant Nanner pudding! It's AMAZING! mouse-y like, a little chocolate and short bread......and a piece of art! sooooo good! kouign amann-Available Friday and Saturday only: What is a Kouign-amann you ask? Well, it is an old French recipe, like 1860's old. The easiest way to describe it is to think about a Croissant. it's made in a similar way. With a Croissant you fold a sheet of butter into your dough and then you keep folding it, and rolling it out, making buttery layers in your dough, but for the Kouign-amann, it is a sheet of butter/sugar mixture, so that when the pastry bakes, it is folds of caramel-y, sugary goodness and it is A-MA-ZING. (pronounced Queen Amann) Do not miss this spectacular treat.....I predict it will be bigger than the Cronut! Canneles-Crunchy outside with a buttery, almost custardy delicious inside. Larry meets Escazu: Probably the richest treat I had there, but it was still light and mouse-y Coffee Eclair: Lightly sweet, delicate, coffee eclairy goodness. So that is most of what we tried there.....and if i can convience hubbie to go for a 4th week in a row.......lol But seriously, if you're looking for something unique, different, delicious and beautiful, and something worth going downtown for, THIS is your place. You can go for breakfast, lunch, or even in the evening for a relaxing environment to visit with friends and delite your senses. Hopefully you'll be just a smitten as I am. By the way: Staff are super friendly, and well informed on what's available! So if you have questions, just ask! They'll let you know!
