I have been here for both brunch and dinner, and I wanted to give a 5 for dinner and a 3 for brunch, so I settled on a 4. The dinner was amazing and delicious - service was great and atmospher was very trendy and upscale. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for their brunch. We sat at the bar as there were no tables available (even though we had made a reservation). The bartender/waiter was horrible - very condescending and pushy in regards to what to order. I ended up getting something that I didn't like because the waiter practically guilted me in to it. Too bad the dinner and brunch menus are so vastly different in quality.

I adore Coquette. It's been a five-star experience every time I've dined. I always recommend this place to my friends and family from out-of-town that want a great meal in a beautiful setting... it always delivers! For starters, I like the plat du fromage (cheese). I've ordered a few different entrées, including the salmon (to die for), a vegetarian crêpe that I don't think is on their current menu, steak frites (agh, the fries!), and the Parisian gnocchi. Honestly, there is nothing on the menu I wouldn't be excited about ordering. The food is elegantly presented and since writing this review, my mouth has started to water. It might be the fries... As far as beverages... there is only one Chardonnay by the glass, but it's good so I can't complain about that. The rest of their wine list is extensive. I haven't tried any of the cocktails but after reading Gunnarr G.'s review, I'm already thinking about when I can get back to order a Coquette 75. Delicious!

The food was mediocre. We had the croque-monsieur, the cheese wasn't melted, the bread was not rustic and the béchamel was flavorless. The croquette burger was just alright. We had the steak tartare that was completely bland. The waiter was cold and quite rude. I understand we're in Raleigh, but when you ask a waiter to change the NC State game on the TV, I don't expect him to say No just because he's a fan. Do not recommend it.

Bf and I picked this place to celebrate his mom's birthday. Our party of 6 was back in the more private dining area. I loved being between the wine cabinets on one side and a collection of mirrors on the wall on the other side. Our server, Kendra, was helpful with the menu and we all enjoyed our orders. Bf ordered the lemon shrimp and scallop crepe, which was delicious. Kendra recommended he start with a salad to be sure he had enough. The beet salad was really good as I helped him eat some (especially the blue cheese). I had the coq au vin, which I really enjoyed. The leg meat certainly fell of the bone and melted in my mouth and went really well with the mashed potatoes. My second piece of chicken was pretty dry, so I kind of ate around it. Their bread was so good that I kept eating it throughout my meal. Bites were shared around the table, so I had a bite of the pork (yum), the tuna (yum), and the salmon (a little dry for me). Overall, I really liked the restaurant, as did our entire party, and I'd definitely come back again.

The croque madame left much to be desired. The sauce was floury and bland and the bread was dry and plain. I have had much better. My friend had the steak benedict and loved it. The service was good and the atmosphere was nice.

Very interesting place. I got the Cassoulet. It was ok but too greasy and oily for my liking. But the dessert and Hour De'Vres were spectacular! My wife loved her meal an also had a good time. The service was outstanding and we really had a good experience here. We will definately come back!

10 dollars for bottomless mimosa on Sunday?! Enough said! My friend and I had a Benedict and that was delicious! The place had a very nice setting and decor! Their staff were friendly! I love how as soon as I put my glass down she's there ready to give me another one!!! Parking was no trouble at all! It's in north hills so after we were done eating we walked around! Can't wait to come here again! :)

Wow. Just wow. We had an amazing brunch today! We arrived at our reservation time and was seated immediately. Rare for a party of 8. We had the best waiter ever: Demaris! We had such a fun time at brunch. Great food. Great staff. Great company. Add all that together and I was one happy diner! Highly recommend!

Went here for graduation, it was the third time I've been. Pros: atmosphere, presentation, and the steak tartar. Cons: The main courses were dreadful, no one at the table enjoyed their meal. I ordered the duck, and asked for it to be cooked, definitely recorded it closer to the rare side. The price range per plate compared to the food you receive is atrocious! Our waiter was slow to get to us and when she did, she kept pestering us for our orders. It was a Wednesday night!

This is the third time I've eaten lunch here and I'm just as impressed as I was the first go around. First, the fresh French bread and lightly salted butter is wonderful. How can bread and butter be a highlight? It is though. I ordered the steak frites medium rare with the Bordelaise sauce and it came out perfect - tender and juicy with enough sauce for my fries to be dipped in. Another at our table ordered the cream of mushroom soup which was the soup du jour and it was very rich and creamy. I personally like sliced mushrooms in my cream of mushroom soup but I suppose the pureed version made it all the more rich. Also, not to be missed is the profiteroles dessert. The ones I had were hazelnut ice cream sandwiched between pastry puffs, lightly dusted with powdered sugar and drizzled with chocolate sauce.

The design of this restaurant is just lovely! Its pretty classy and could easily be a restaurant in New York City. The service is good, too. However, the food I had lacked flavor (brunch omelette). If they could get better chefs, I'd say this place was tops. But the food was just... bland.

My mom, sister and I finally got the chance to eat a late lunch at Coquette over the weekend. I am really happy that we did and I plan to go back for dinner sometime soon! The prices at lunch are very reasonable. I know they are higher at dinner. The bread they bring out before your meal is very good. I was not a fan of the butter with salt on top that the waiter brought out with it, but my mom and sister really liked it. For my lunch, I ordered the croque madame. It was just like the one I had ordered during our honeymoon when we were in Belgium and the cheese on top was really good. My mom and sister both got quiche. My mom had the spinach and chevre quiche and my sister had the quiche lorraine. The slices were very large and both of them really liked their choices. The quiche as well as my sandwich were served with a salad. Our waiter was very attentive and quick to fill up our water glasses, which I really appreciated. The food came out quickly which was great because we were all very hungry! The restaurant is very large and open and very pretty inside. I will definitely be back sometime soon to try dinner, as well as brunch with the unlimited mimosas for $10!

Coquette's is one of our favorite casual, yet delicious restaurants, with A+ service and always outstanding food. Especially love the diversity of salads, light fare, hearty dishes, seafood, and wines by the glass.

Just ok. I have been here almost a year ago and they still have the same menu. The frites were extra greasy and my salmon was under seasoned. I don't feel as though the price justifies the quality or taste of the food.

Nice atmosphere. Love the bread. Beer menu is amall, but there are some great choices available. The steak on the steak sandwich was super tender. The bacon lardons on my husband's burger made it totally worth it. Would definitely go back.

We had Sunday brunch this weekend, we were a party of 8 with reservations. I am not from the area and was skeptical of the mall location. Where I am from mall restaurants suck. This was an exception. While this was not 5 star experience, it was very good. We were seated in the back room with the more comfortable, read, non bistro chairs. Our server was nice, a tad inexperienced and had a hard time answering some basic questions. Cocktails arrived in a timely manner and we ordered. I had the steak frite and my man had the Nicoise. Both perfect. Others had benedict, omelets and a burger. Everyone was happy. Profiteroles for dessert to share. Overall will go back for dinner for foie gras and lardon salad.

Just really great. Had brunch last Sunday. Eggs Benedict were wonderful and the service could not have been better. I will return again and again. Bread was so good that we bought a loaf to go.

Seriously bad! This is a poor interpretation of a French brasserie. Do not be fooled by decor or menu. The snails are from a can, the frisée has no taste as is poorly presented. The onion soup is made from canned stock. For the prices and what they are trying to be, this restaurant falls incredibly flat. It was always marginal and has now gone downhill. It is unfortunate because I feel Vivace (also by Urban Food Group) has gotten better. I was hopeful they would straighten food out here. As stated menu and atmosphere are nice. Food very poor. I am probably slightly unfair in giving it a 2 star rating, but it matches up to the price level and what they are trying to be. If you crave French then go to Rue Cler in Durham instead.

We have been back several times, and we gave the escargots another shot, and this time they were not too salty. Woot! Also, had a "quiche du jour" that did not taste as good as their quiche normally does. It was an herb quiche of some kind, and the dried herbs had all settled at the bottom of the quiche (as ingredients do in a quiche) and they were way overpowering. The staff noticed I wasn't eating my quiche and and asked if it was to my liking. I told them that their quiche is something that I hold in high regard, the stuff dreams are made of, and that this one just wasn't cutting it. They took it away and quickly brought me an order of Quiche Lorraine instead, and they didn't make a fuss about it at all. Grade A service, all the way!

Fabulous brunch! Highly recommend this for Sunday brunch. I had the apple, bacon brie crepe and was very sad to finish it! It was excellent. I actually said "goodbye old friend." My friend had arm surgery and requested a table with no obstruction for her arm when making the reservation, which they completly honored. That and the $10 unlimited mimosa made it a wonderful way to catch up with a girlfriend.

This is my fav place for Sunday brunch. There's always a wait so make reservations. I love the bottomless mimosas and the bread and butter. It's a salted butter which is just delectable on the bread. I've tried a lot on the brunch menu. My favs are the petite salad, truffle frites, monte cristo, and the omelettes. I normally stuff my omelette with whatever seasonal veggies they have and bacon. The staff is great.

Disclaimer: My address used to be in France. So yeah, I'll admit I'm a little picky when it comes to food that claims to be French! The spouse and I had lunch at Coquette with some friends for Triangle Restaurant Week, and while it wasn't a weekend jaunt back to Louveciennes, it was pleasant. The decor reminded me less of an actual French brasserie and more of a favourite French restaurant in Charleston, SC, but that wasn't a bad thing. Upon being seated, our drink orders were taken and in short order, bread arrived. I didn't have a cocktail myself (nothing says 'lunchtime tipple' like having the Harris Teeter next on your list, right?), but I hear the cocktail with the cassis is the one to choose if you do. Escargot was a must; though the snails were tender and nicely cooked, a little more fresh garlic wouldn't have been out of order. The oil made an excellent excuse to finish off the bread, too. We all opted for the TRW menu; two of us had the watermelon and heirloom tomato salad and two had the chilled bisque. There were exactly two pieces of tomato in among the generous serving of watermelon in my salad and one in my friend's, but that was fine because we both like watermelon! The feta and herb dressing provided just enough tang to tame the sweetness and point up the refreshing qualities of the melon. The bisque was pronounced 'very good', and its tartness praised. I tried a spoonful, and agree that the tartness cut through the richness of the bisque. All of us got the BLTs, two with no 'B' -- we joked that they should put our unwanted bacon on our friends' sandwiches, and when they came out we wondered if they had! There was so much bacon all we needed was a squeal and a tail and we'd have had a pig. Also in heavy presence were the fries. LOTS of fries. I mean LOTS. Easily four servings apiece were piled alongside the sandwiches, and I will say that about 90% were boxed up to be taken home to make cheese fries for a late-night snack. My B-LessLT was enhanced by the addition of tangy mustard, which balanced the egg and cheese. The bread, while not exactly Paris-standard, was neither too chewy nor too crisp, the tomato had a good flavour and the lettuce was tender and fresh the way non-iceberg should be. For desserts, I opted for the creme caramel while everyone else went for the frozen mango concoction that was a hit on a sultry summer day. Fruity and cool, it was meant to be slowly shaved away with a spoon and enjoyed. The mango flavour was full, and presentation was lovely. The creme caramel was lusciously silky and had the intensity of burnt sugar that I adore without any overwhelming sweetness, and the varied blackberries, red raspberries and golden raspberries provided a nice counterpoint to the almost whiskylike depth of the caramel. While I noticed other tables being served briskly, our server made note of our lack of business attire and faint sense of hurry, as well as the presence of cocktails, and tailored his approach to be a little more languid, which suited our mood well. While the food and the lingering lunch didn't transport me back, it was still an enjoyable experience and I'm interested to return and see how the rest of the food stacks up to my memories!

Quiche=unbelievable. Great portions and amazing flavor. This place almost makes you forget that nothing good has come from France since the French fleet sailed it's way into New York in the Revolutionary War. Global politics aside, this place is one of the best breakfast spots I have been in Raleigh. Price was not bad $30 for 2 with coffee and OJ and we left stuffed. Make sure you get maple butter for the bread!

Not a great experience -- granted it was Christmas eve but if you're going to accept reservations, don't run out of four dishes and bread. And if you don't have any bread, maybe offer something else. Otherwise the food we did order was good, hopefully it's better next time!

We had heard good things about Coquette, and I'm in a Jacques Pepin-inspired French omelet making phase, so we were so excited to get some authentic French omelets for Sunday brunch. Well, color us disappointed!! The serving sizes were miniscule for the prices. My first bite was the roasted potato, and that was my first indication that it wasn't going to be a great ride. The potato was undercooked and underseasoned. The omelet had none of the creaminess that a French omelet (or any omelet that isn't overcooked!) should have. My seasoning tasted like they had thrown some Herbs de Provence in hot oil, rather than using fresh herbs. My girlfriend and her mom got Salmon omelets and they didn't have much better stories. The cheese was lumped up on one side, the salmon portions were tiny. Oh but they had it even worse. My plating was poor (no presentation), but my girlfriend actually had to wipe the corners of her plate -- that's a restaurant no-no restricted for the likes of 'Kitchen Nightmares'!! I was tempted to nudge this to 3 stars because the ambience is sort of nice, but I'd still not be going back here EVER, so that to me is a 2-star!

La vie est trop courte pour boire du mauvais vin, meaning: "Life is too short to drink bad wine". This is a typical French saying, and the French do enjoy consuming moderate amounts of good wine with their meals, noon and evening alike. Coquette looks like an outdoor French cafe but inside. I'm not too crazy about the black & white tile floor here. And now for the meal. When you are seated, your table is given a nice serving of freshly baked French bread. The meal was started with escargots with a nice garlic & parsley butter for $8 and for the main dish, a delicious Coq Au Vin for $17. Bon appétit. First of all, I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place before, but I must admit that if I had it would have been a 4-star review (which of course, is wonderful), but not as wonderful as the at LEAST 5-star lunch experience four of us had at Coquette today. Seriously one of the best restaurant meals I've ever had. Let me introduce you to the most exquisite lunch experience: The sister and I shared three PERFECT menu items: PARISIAN GNOCCHI duck confit, dried cranberries, butternut squash, arugula SEARED SCALLOPS parsnip puree, sautéed spinach, lardons, balsamic-beet reduction FRISÉE AUX LARDONS curly endive, poached egg, grilled brioche, cider-grain mustard vinaigrette We started with their fantastic sunflower bread and another more plain bread that I'm guessing was a basic french bread) that are brought to the table first along with butter with a hint of sea salt on top. My goodness we enjoyed every bite of these dishes, each one with perfectly balanced elements...salty, sweet, savory...gnocchi so light it reminded me of miniature marshmallows (although way more flavorful), with the rich meaty duck and the slightly sweet cranberries and the squash...oh my! The perfectly browned/seared scallop with the velvety smooth puree and the just-right spinach with the salty lardons for texture and the amazing richness of the reduction...oh my, again! And their frisee salad is always wonderful with the perfectly poached egg that you break open and the yoke oozes down over the tangy frisee, with the delicious vinaigrette and some salty bacon...oh my my! Add in two others at our table who were also very happy...one relative who is allergic to garlic, decided on: SEARED SALMON bibb lettuce, english cucumbers, red onions, grape tomatoes, brioche crouton, remoulade vinaigrette We were happy to know she was not only in safe hands here, where she didn't have to worry about them being honest about whether the salmon was marinated, but they were able to tell her that the dressing that usually came with it did have garlic, but they could offer not one but several different dressing options that included a walnut vinaigrette and a pistachio one. (she chose the walnut one and was pleased). Our other relative is a vegetarian and chose: SPINACH & CHEVRE QUICHE petit salad He loved it! The sis and I were literally sopping up every drop on each of our plates that they were kind enough to SPLIT for us! Thank goodness cause doing battle with her for the right morsels on each plate might have ended in sibling World War 57! Have I mentioned how this was so much MORE than a 5-star experience? Dessert? Heck no, not for the FULL sisters, but out-of-town bottomless-pit relatives (uh, wait, they each only had ONE plate a piece), smartly went for dessert, and the garlic-allergic one chose a cup of fabulous coffee and: ENSEMBLE DU CHOCOLATE dark chocolate sea salt true, ourless chocolate torte, raspberry white chocolate mousse, cherry coulis And vegetarian relative went with the days' passion-fruit mango sorbet. Again, not a drop or crumb wasted by this foursome. What rates a 5-star experience in my book, especially for lunch? Well, it starts with perfect service, which we had from hostess to fantastic server, but it continued amazingly and most importantly with food that absolutely could not have been designed nor executed more perfectly...PERIOD. (my apologies for no food porn, but I was seriously overwhelmed when it all arrived at once) And price-wise? Oh my gosh, beyond reasonable for this quality level (and I'm not just saying that because garlic-allergic relative did battle with vegetarian relative (and won) to pay the bill. (Believe me, the sis and I have been preparing for and cooking lots of meals for the these and many other family-reunion members for a few days now, so this was not only a break for us, but made us feel great to know that we had recommended such an awesome place for all to enjoy!

This is my very favorite restaurant in Raleigh! The ambiance is perfect - it can be great for a date, but also for a group, and even family-friendly, especially during the day. The food has always been exceptionally and consistently excellent. I have been many times, for both lunch and dinner, and it continues to impress every single time! The service is always great - very attentive, helpful, friendly. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Coquette!

Oh. My. WOW. Went here for lunch with friends while in town. We arrived & were seated right away. It took our party of 3 several minutes to decide what to have as everything sounded delishes. I chose the seafood crepes while the others in my party both chose various quiches. We had very little conversation once our food arrived as we were all digging in!! The portion sizes were more than adequate for the price. I will definitely go back the next time I'm in town.

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner for our one year anniversary. I chose the restaurant beforehand because I had heard good things and it was in walking distance to bars we could go to after. What we ate: Appetizer: Escargot - good, not great. of course not as good as you would find in France (we have been) Entree: Pan Seared Duck Breast- I love duck and this dish was AMAZING. Perfect portion. The lardons perfectly complemented the spinach and the cream sauce around the plate was delicious but I wished there was more! Trout Amandine - my boyfriend really enjoyed this!! Again, the portion was perfect and the fish was cooked well. Dessert: Profiteroles - so yummy- quite a large portion (3 scoops of ice cream in each pastry) so I couldn't finish the whole thing! They gave us extra chocolate sauce without asking too. They gave me a spoon to eat this with which was fine for the ice cream but difficult to eat the pastries with. Tart Citron- Great, wished there was a little more blackberry sauce but other than that it was a good choice. My boyfriend and I also got a bottle of wine with our meal and the waiter kept it chilled next to us and came back as soon as we would finish our glass to fill us back up! Great service and the waiter was very knowledgable and friendly without being stuck up. We came around 8/8:30 so by the time we finished our meal they were about to close. Not one minute did I feel rushed to finish eating dessert. I would have given five stars but the tables were a little small when you have a water cup as well as a wine glass and a plate. Overall great experience! (Just a little heavy on the wallet :) but you get what you pay for!)

4 of 4 stars (excellent, casual dining). (see explanation of ratings below) Average dinner entree price: $17. I think this place has gotten even better recently, Chef Beth Littlejohn tweaks the menu and preparation ever so often, but not so much that the staples are lost in translation. My mother claims the mussels here are the best she's ever had. My son is partial to the hanger steak. Again: best he's ever had. We all like Le Plateau: a selection of chilled shellfish with three sauces ($35). Allow 60-90 minutes (no dessert). About $35-$45 per person, with alcohol, no dessert, gratuity not included. About my ratings: Only fine dining establishments can garner five stars. Until yelp realizes that a fast food joint cannot possibly be ranked equally with a $100 per person place, I need to draw the line somewhere. If we were only talking about the quality and presentation of the food, it would be a different story. But, as we know, yelp's rankings take into account the entire dining experience. Therefore, I divide restaurants into three categories (and I wish yelp would do the same): 1) fast food and "fast-casual" (no table service). 2) casual dining (table service, average entrée price: $10-$20). 3) fine dining (linen napkins, no plastic cups, no TV's in dining room, average entrée priced at more than $20). Fine dining can earn a max of five stars. Casual dining can earn a max of four stars. Fast food can earn a max of three stars.

So for those of you who don't know me, I'm a French food whore. I love nothing more than chowing down on some mussels, escargot, and foie gras. Finding good, authentic French fare, however, is a bit of a challenge, especially in a tiny "city" like Raleigh (yeah, I said it). Before moving to the area, I frequently dined at the wonderful Bistrot Du Coin (see my review) in Washington, DC. I never imagined I'd find a place (almost) on par with my BDC, but Brasserie Coquette proved to be fantastic place for me to get my French food fix. Naturally, I started with my beloved escargot, which was pretty good, while my friend ordered the petite tarte flambee--pretty much like a small French pizza. For our main courses I ordered the duck and my friend had the beef bourguignon. Both meats were tender and well-seasoned. We ordered two different bottles of wine, both highly recommended by our waiter, and they paired exquisitely with both the duck and the beef. Although we were two of only seven or so diners (it was late on a random weeknight), I feel that the staff would've been just as attentive and helpful had it been 8 pm on a Saturday. Overall, my dining experience at Brasserie Coquette was excellent, and it will be my new go-to French spot in Raleigh.

The ambience of the restaurant was appealing. The service was excellent. The food was prepared well. However my omelette was lukewarm. My wife's scallops were well done. And my daugh mushroom Sandwich was also prepared well. Pricing was unexpectedly pleasant. We had an overall good experience.

Count me in as one of their best fans! Have been there numerous times, took friends and my family when they visited. And all before they were showcased on TV. It won't go to their head, why? because they know the food is good and hopefully won't want to change that a bit. The atmosphere is charming and the service is friendly and conscientious. I never miss an opportunity to stop in, alone or with my spouse, to enjoy the bar, food and my new friends. Magnifique!

We ate here for the first time last night and we are fans! The atmosphere is like a bustling Parisian restaurant and rather casual (if you are looking for quiet, intimate and formal, you may want the other french restaurant further north). Our server, Brett, was awesome - very attentive, engaging and knowledgeable. This place was packed and the waitstaff was busy - evenso, our service was very good. We commented how it may be fun to come in some time and try several appetizers as small plates - we had a hard time choosing! I started with Steak Tartare and my husband, Steve, had 2: a half dozed Oysters and the Onion Soup Gratinee. Mine was phenomenal - the steak was already mixed with the grain mustard and shallots with the raw quail egg on top, cornichons and crostini on the side. The grain mustard gave it a nice little punch! Steve's oysters were some of the best either of us have ever had...no cocktail sauce but a mignonette sauce that had a wonderful flavor and didn't overpower the delectable oysters. The onion soup was done very well: hearty, cheesy, piping hot in the crock. For our main entree, I had the Parisian Gnocchi and Steve had the Cassoulet. Brett explained that the gnocchi is only made with flour, not like the Italian-style potato gnocchi most of us are familiar with. The combination of the crawfish tails and the tasso ham cream sauce was divine...could have easily been eating this is New Orleans! Steve's Cassoulet was to die for - pork, duck confit, bacon, andouille sausage, white beans baked together. This is a hearty serving - it was delicious...moist, savory and perfectly balanced. Both of us would order both dishes again. We weren't going to have dessert because both of us were already stuffed but figured we could split a creme brulee. However, Brett told us about the Coeur a la Creme and I decided to try it. First, the creme brulee was perfect (as one would expect); traditional style with some fresh berries on top. The coeur was decadent...think: cheesecake - but very whipped and light - minus the heavy crust - with raspberry sauce on the side. We are going to try and make this at home - it was delicious - so light and simply flavorful. So - there it is - we will come back. Great location and reasonably priced. For all of that (plus 3 glasses of wine and 3 drinks), the bill was under $160 not including tip. Great dining experience!

I have only been to Coquette for dinner, and their food is spectacular. I'm surprised at how many people are intimidated by French cuisine - fortunately, Coquette makes it easy to enjoy. The environment is a little busy, but not deafening, and the wait staff is extremely good. The seasonal menu is also a plus; it seems like it changes four times a year (not strictly with the change in seasons). It features consistent dishes like coq au vin and beef bourguignon as well as dishes that are similar but vary depending on the time of year. The Parisian gnocchi is excellent much more frequently than not. I am not much of a wine connoseur, but they have a good selection of draft beer from local breweries - which is, in my opinion, the sign of a good restaurant.

I had a truly spectacular dinner at Coquette recently, one of several amazing meals I've enjoyed there over the years. Great wines, paired with traditional French brasserie fare, in an open, yet fairly intimate space. Sure, you have to deal with North Hills Mall to enjoy it, but c'est la vie. I was blown away by the pan-seared foie gras, which was unctuous, melt-in-your-mouth creamy, and devoid of that unpleasant metallic flavor I've experienced before. I'm now a foie gras convert. Seriously, I think I dreamed about it last night. The moules frites and steak frites were also delicious. Maybe it's insane to order two "frites" menu items, but that's just how I roll. And both were excellent. You can choose how the mussels are prepared (different sauce/broth options), but the steak came out unadorned, simply seasoned, and cooked to a perfect medium rare. The menus at Coquette is expansive, with lots of great sounding items that I'd love to go back and try. I'm also eager to make it there for brunch. All-you-can-drink mimosas for $10? Oui, s'il vous plaît!

Not impressed for the price. I got the French toast and it was really dry. I've spent less on brunch at much tastier places.

Steak au poive benedict!? Yes, please! Overcooked poached eggs, overly sweet bearnaise, and an overdone, underseasoned, rubbery "tenderloin" (Seriously, a crime was committed if that is tenderloin)? No, thanks. All of the flavor was in the bread. The meal's highlight was also the French bread. Service was great, but even the coffee was below expectations.

Being European, the idea of creating French France for American is always an interesting conundrum to me. Asking for Ricard caused a little confusion, served in a balloon glass with warmish water in a 1/2 pint glass. The addition of ice improved things. I saw cassoulet and ordered. I've not had it with small chopped duck pieces, in fact the sausage and pork was also chopped into small pieces? One of our party asked for the tuna not too rare and it was. I don't know I just couldn't put my finger on it. When does a brasserie become a bistro?...Je ne sais pas

Seriously excellent. Our waiter was very friendly and prompt, and while we were waiting for brunch we received some fresh baked bread with whipped butter. I had the coffee which tasted more like an Americano but was still very rich and well-flavored and my boyfriend had espresso. For brunch I had the mushroom & brie quiche special which I highly recommend if you get the chance. My bf had the turkey (& pesto?) sandwich which I tried and it was no ordinary sandwich. The only bummer was that he ordered truffle fries to start (which were great) but then when his sandwich arrived it came with fries. I thought the waiter should have informed him of this and perhaps offered him some other side, or offered to upgrade those fries to the truffle fries (for a additional cost). All in all it was a very good experience, and the restaurant itself was lovely inside so we didn't mind sitting around sipping our coffee after our bellies were full.

Great atmosphere! Had the French onion soup that had croutons and the gratinéed cheese on top! So cheesyyyy! The fresh bread accompanied it perfectly. I also ordered the hanger steak sandwich and side of the fries for lunch and they were beyond delicious. Would have loved to have tried the fries with the truffle oil as offered as an appetizer. Definitely next time!!

I have eaten here 3 times, and I have yet to have anything that was less than delicious. The atmosphere is so charming, and I recommend a seat by the window. As far as food, I have had the Croque Madame and the Beef Bourguignon, and both were wonderful.

OK, finally getting to review. I guess that I've eaten here about a dozen times in the past couple years. I'll keep it brief. This place is generally consistent and good. Never been blown away by anything, and only once disappointed (the raw bar platter... very weak and rubbery). I do trust them enough to have the steak tartar, however, which has been very good. I like the room, the service is usually better than average, and the food always good. Again, nothing exciting, but consistent, good, and worth the money they charge. So go and try it! CinCin!

We got the seafood crepe, which was delicious as well as the baked brie which was also really good. The french onion soup was disappointing as it was bland and the cheese didn't have the flavor it should. I got the steak frites with the filet and the filet was cooked perfectly. My friend got the scallops which she did not like at at. The tomato based broth was too sweet. Overall, it was good and I would go back if I wanted french food.

How did I not know about this place until now?? Great menu at very fair prices. Had the Croque Madame with petit salad for brunch today along with a bottomless Mimosa for ~$20. Left a bit loopy. Yeah, I got my money's worth! Then I looked at the dinner menu and some of the pics on Yelp and I will definitely be back! Great ambiance and friendly service. Can't wait to test the patio in the spring with a bottle of wine.

Fantastic!! One of the best meals I have ever had. I took my mom for her birthday and she loved it as well. We shared the Gruyere and potato coquettes and the brie appetizers. I wish they had been larger! The croquettes were nice and crunchy and the Brie had the perfect mix of cheese and jam. I also had the French onion soup which was delicious. Sometimes French onion is really salty, but this wasn't at all. My mom had the beef and said it was so tender it fell apart in her mouth. I am so glad I found this Gem. We will definitely be back.

I love the concept of this restaurant. I enjoy French cuisine, and I was happy to see a trendy bistro in Raleigh. However, Coquette needs to be better! I have tried several menu items. The grilled tuna niçoise was perfect - exactly like something you would eat in France. Everything else I have tried has been comme si comme ça. Please make this restaurant better! I would love to return and try something new and delicious!

Well, it makes me a little sad to only give 3 stars to Coquette- because I really, really wanted to love it. We went recently w/ a friend to celebrate all three of our birthdays. Made reservations for 3 at 7:30 on a Saturday night and we were glad we did. When we walked in, we were seated promptly. The ambiance was very nice, but the chairs across from the banquettes really weren't very comfy. Service was great though and we started w/ cocktails all around. The corpse reviver, coquette 75, and kir royale were all tasty, but just seems a dollar more expensive then what they should have been. Next up were croquettes-not really as tasty as I expected and a little boring and the truffled frites, which seemed absent of any truffle- anywhere. My companions ordered the Coquette burger and steak frites and both enjoyed their choices, though were overloaded on fries at that point. The burger really is a little over the top served on the croissant and the filet portion of the steak looked more the like filet mignon 'tails' that Whole Foods sells for half price, rather than an actual steak. I wouldn't order either of them again. I ordered the french onion soup- which i absolutely ADORED and the beet/Roquefort salad- which i wanted to love, but it was just kinda meh. Dessert was the best part of the meal- i had the peanut butter bombe and others ordered blueberry clafoutis and creme de brulee. All three of us enjoyed our desserts and finished them completely. In summary, I'll definitely be back to try brunch, but probably will pass on dinner again. Food was good, but not really worth the 100 bill for 2.

Fantastic brunch in the North Hills area AND they take reservations. The decor is great, a hip, modern bistro vibe but very spacious. I had the Florentine, a croissant covered with confit tomatoes and spinach topped with two perfectly poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. Amazing. The nutella and banana crepe with toasted hazelnuts was awesome as well. The bread and butter before the meal was great, service top notch, and the illy coffee superb. I can't wait to go back for dinner, it has a lot to live up to with this brunch!

This place was OMG awesome! The Le Plateau seafood platter appetizer was more than amazing, in fact, that's the most seared in my brain memory I'm going to take from this place. Did you see the size of that platter? We had a party of several with reservations for a (cough) "work" (cough) dinner. I will rave about the wine and that seafood appetizer platter forever and ever. Oh, and the seared scallop dinner wasn't bad either. Our server was consistent, assertive and always making sure our glasses were full. Nothing went unnoticed. There's not a lot left to say that hasn't already been said by other reviewers.

I had the duck confit and quiche. They were both delicious and the bread with salted butter is also quite pleasant! The lunches are not expensive at all would recommend this place for groups!

We were staying at The Renaissance at North Hills, and they recommened this place for a late dinner - how perfect. This place is nicely decorated and softly lit, though the tables are a little to close together to provide an intimate feeling. The large bar area is attractive, and can get busy. There is plenty of outside seating, and it was well used. Our waiter was simply excellent, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, the wine list, and the Raleigh food scene, as well. We decided we would graze among the Hors D'oeuvres and small plates. The Steak Tartare was excellent, the quail egg was a nice touch. The Escargots were old school prepared, and perfectly so, the garlic butter sublime. The Seared Foie Gras was beautiful, and the blackberry jam complimented it very nicely. We finished the evening with the Charcuterie & Fromage Board, and it also was very nicely done, fresh sausages, nice cheeses. Our waiter was very helpful with the wine pairings, especially sensitive to our request that the white wines be limited - great job. We popped in the next day around lunch, and the windows give the place a bright, inviting quallity during the day. We'll be back, and soon

I've eaten at Coquette Brasserie many times. Friday January 30 2015 at 2:00 pm was horrible. The restaurant was full, I later learned to be likely because it was Restaurant Week in Raleigh- possibly why our lunch was abysmal. Escargots were teeny tiny swimming in an ocean of butter. Charcuterie was sparse and uninspired, and we got the end cuts of the duck confit- unrecognizable. The crispy trout was 1 and 1/2 teeny tiny strips of trout. My son's salmon looked OK but as soon as the waiter placed the trout in front of me the table immediately smelled rancid. The accompaniment to trout is now lentils, which I love. But lentils should smell earthy sweet. These lentils smelled bad. I ate them anyway. Two hours later I felt horrible and had a headache. That night and the next day I was sick. Foul. Sick. You're going to kill somebody, Coquette. All this food was brought out nearly simultaneously, for which Lori did apologize. Just horrible.

Where has this place been hiding? The food is so rich and delicious. It was prepared perfectly and the serving sizes are generous. Very fun atmosphere and everything on all of their menus looks so tasty. I cannot wait to come back!

Food and presentation were excellent, and the atmosphere is reminiscent of a early 20th century French bistro. The fennel pork chop was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Service was a bit slow but well worth the wait! The cotes de Rhone hit the spot. Definitely a repeat visit is in order.

Having dined at many french cafes and restaurants, this one is at the top! My husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary. We were able to sit on the terrace with open-air dining. The environment was literally like taking a trip to dine in Paris, including my trip to the restroom- don't ask! With french jazz playing overhead, Sara helped us with suggesting a wine and food choices. We began with the bread with the butter that was délicieux and were so excited to dine on our Steak Frites! For dessert, profiteroles with a cafe au lait ice cream and the peanut butter bomb. If you are looking for a great getaway with an upscale, french flair, this is the place! Oh la la c'est marveilleux!

coquette, noun \kō-ket\ : a woman who endeavors without sincere affection to gain the attention and admiration of men Ahh, who doesn't know a flirty woman who's more talk than action? And that sort of sums up my experience at Coquette! This French brasserie is definitely a great looking spot. Innocuous entrance hidden with a heavy red curtain, step inside and you'll be struck by the black and white tile floor, cafe lamps hanging from the ceiling, polished woods and open space. With the music crooning from the speakers it feels as if you've stepped into Paris or at least, New York City. Waitstaff is all neatly decked out in white aprons and shirts giving Coquette a very sophisticated feel. But it's all about the food for me, I went off the TRW menu after seeing a great looking burger and frites pass by the table. We started off with some croquettes, lightly fried and filled with gruyere cheese. Good stuff but not on another planet like Gravy's risotto balls. My main, a hanger steak sandwich was well done. A tender filet with aioli on great bread but missing some flavor and kick. The fries were really good, skin-on and well salted (like Only Burger). Finishing up with the banana-nutella crepe, I was so excited. I loves me some nutella and the roasted hazelnuts on the plate looked great. Another let-down, there just wasn't much to the crepe and I could barely taste the nutella, ugh. Maybe I'm just not a huge fan of French bistro food but Coquette had batted her pretty eyes at me and left me hangin' in the wind. Great decor, great service but the food? Sigh, I don't like being disappointed but it could have been so much better. Maybe it's the North Hills effect, lots of beauty but not so much substance. I'll be back to give you another try, Ms. Coquette but I'm guessing there are better and less superficial options out there in Raleigh...

I've been coming to Coquette for brunch for +/- a year and a half or so, in the beginning everything was great food, servers, atmosphere. However, as of late it has really gown downhill. First, you absolutely have to make a reservation for Sunday brunch - otherwise enjoy a 30+ minute wait. Some servers can also be a bit snooty - probably resentful of the overcrowded brunch clientele. We've sat at a table for 7-10 minutes before the server comes over, then when he finally does he even said to us "I guess you can order now, you've been waiting a while" lovely. As others have mentioned tables are close together, it's very loud, and I'm kind of over it. Anyways, the steak sandwich is really delicious.

I have dined here for lunch twice and dinner once. My previous meals at this restaurant were delicious. My most recent lunch was disappointing. The steak sandwich was recommended as a popular choice. The sandwich was cold and the beef tasted off. My wife tried it and did not like it either. Her entree was two large scallops, which she enjoyed very much. However, the portion size was comparable to an appetizer at other establishments.

NOT a good idea to hit this place up BEFORE trying on your wedding dress. With that said, it's probably fine to go at any other time :) I was a little surprised by the ambiance of the place, it was busy like a cafe but a sit down family dinner. The service was fairly attentive. The place was a little loud but tolerable. I had a ham sandwich which was extremely heavy. I only ate half of it and felt like i was going to pop. So my idea of soup and sandwich was bust for a light meal. It was a yummy sandwich, but just heavy for an afternoon meal. I had a French onion soup right before that so I'm sure that combo didn't help. The soup was pretty good though. not the absolute best French onion, but good enough to order again. I'm a French onion soup snob, i know this kinda stuff, trust me. the prices were fair for the quality of the food. I'd visit again, but next time i want to save room for dessert. I was really jealous of this lady sitting near us who came in and ordered her self ONLY dessert. it was something drizzled with delicious looking warm chocolate. I wish i had a picture of her face when this dessert was brought out to her, cause it was classic - you know that feeling you get when your favorite dessert is placed in front of you in all of it's glorious freshness - like your dream just came true? THAT was the look on her face, and i WANT a piece of that dessert!

Love love this restaurant ..their quiche is light and fluffy not like any other I have ever had anywhere. Wait staff is unbelievable..very helpful with suggestions and attentive. You have to try their kir royale ...freshly made cassis and perfect..which brings me back to their bar! The whole place is nicely laid out and airy..they open the windows to the outside during the nice weather. Just overall a great place to eat and people watch

The food here was some of the worse we've ever had. There was nothing French about the cooking especially the Beef Bourguignon. It was served with under cooked store bought noodles. The salmon was sent back twice to be cooked more and it still wan't edible. This is no French restaurant for sure. We will not return. The atmosphere isn't even French.

I forget about it because it's in a shopping center, but it's a lovely space with consistently excellent food. It's the kind of place where you remember to slow down and savor every bite because ever bite is delicious. The butter is the perfect temperature with the exact amount of salt on top. Every morself of the charcuterie plate is worth savoring. The salads. Everything. I'm a bit tired, or I'd give more detail, but I love this place. I hope I stop forgetting about it.

This is a great spot for a casual, lunch date and service is impeccable! I had the gruyere/potato croquette as an appetizer and the croque monsieur sandwich, both which were tasty. It isn't memorable enough to travel over half an hour to this brasserie, but if I was in the area, it would be a decent lunch spot to visit.

I can't think of anything negative to say about this place. Everything we ate and drank was delicious. The duck was cooked perfectly and was absolutely delicious, the lamb was awesome too. The onion soup was quoted by my boyfriend as being "the best he had ever had, by far" (and he orders it everywhere!) The drinks were fantastic. I have had my fair share of French 75s before, but their Coquette 75 is made a little differently: they use apricot syrup in place of lemon juice + sugar. It was to die for. Beyond the food and drinks, I also think the atmosphere is really unique. I like that it seems more like a large, open dining hall than a standard swanky, intimate little French restaurant. It's definitely worth a try if your French food experiences in the Triangle are limited to places like Vin Rouge in Durham. Not that I don't love that place too, but both are so different and both so great in their own distinct ways. Try them both!

The food was great as promised but the service was TERRIBLE. I have never not left a tip, in fact I am always a 20%+ tipper but in this case today - no tip. My girlfriend and I stopped in to the bar area for a quick order to go. Our intent was to order and eat at the bar and take the rest to go as we had time constraints. While the server behind the bar looked busy helping serve tables it took a good 5 minutes for him to even acknowledge us. I won't mention his name because I can't - he never introduced himself. He took our order in an obvious rush and never offered us a beverage while we waited. However a "regular" patron walked in several minutes behind us and his food and drink was quiclky placed in front of him ( call ahead or daily routine?) Finally our food was brought to us and the check quickly placed for us to take care of. We asked if they had Ranch dressing and he abruptly stated NO (with obvious irritation) and went on about his business. This guy had no clue how to serve! Our order was 24 bucks- would normally have been a minimum 5 buck tip from me. I have been in the service industry over 20 years and I was just appalled at the level on non-engagement. Would try this place again(maybe) because the food was good, but will make sure I get a different server...

After being dissapointed from dining at other places around town, specifically for mussels, I was compelled to write about Coquette and the amazing experience we always have there. We are fortunate that this little gem is in our neighborhood. The outstanding atmosphere and service keep us coming back for the most delicious mussels( chorizo) in the city. Do not let the idea of the cliche, stuffy, french dining experience keep you from walking in the doors, because that is not the vibe this place gives. The many accessible or familiar menu items will not dissapoint. Chef please bring back the dessert crepes, we miss them.

Since my original review I'm now on a gluten free diet so I wanted to update from that perspective. Coquette doesn't have a GF menu or indications on their menu, but so far the servers I've interacted with have had a very good knowledge and can guide you in making choices. The most recent time I ate here was for lunch with coworkers and I ordered Moules Frites. They were amazing, and the server told me I could even eat the french fries because they used a dedicated fryer which is not something I find very often. There are many choices, and usually even a GF dessert choice.

Coquette and I have a wild and sordid past. I was here for their soft opening, and multiple times thereafter. More often then naught I was pleased and quite content with the meals I've had. More recently they went through a change in the back of house and Rob Bland moved on to Helios and Kevin and Stacey Jennings (Of Urban Foodgroups) moved Ian Sullivan from Vivace to Coquette. It has been a good 8-10 months since I've been here, my favorite bar tender has moved on to bigger and better things but here I was ready to meet up with a couple of our good friends for drinks and dinner. The bar area is still beautiful although the liquor selection and on hand inventory appeared more depleted than I am accustomed. The bathrooms are unbelievably attractive with small euro subway tiles and dark mahogany partitions. The ceiling tiles and floor tiles are stunning and help make this an appealing dining experience. Brit and our two dining companions started off with some house made cocktails at the bar. I went with my standard Cotes du Rhone and reaffirmed to myself that, yup, I still like this wine. We made our way to the table and started with bread and apps. Brit and the two ladies that accompanied us all ordered the Mesclun salads. It was pointed out by one of my dining companions that the salads were the main area where you could tell the difference between Rob's kitchen and Ian's kitchen. While Rob would basically use a hint of dressing, the things coming out now are a bit more dressed and at times according to my dining companion over-dressed. I for one finally tried their French Onion Soup. Wow, this was so very tasty. Lots of onions, great beef stock and the croutons and cheese just made me want to curl up and nap for the evening. Our sever Meg (previously of Frazier's and Poole's) was excellent. it's a shame that she too will be moving on to another opportunity, but I'm sure that the 2nd graders she will be enlightening are going to be in for a treat. I've inadvertently followed Meg around through her years and she never fails to be professional, courteous and attentive. She knows her food and gives great recommendations. I was looking for some wine for all of us to drink, and really didn't want to break the bank so she recommended a bottle of Toulouze which went great with dinner and wasn't too overpowering, but definitely had some deep earthy notes and pungent fruity overtones. For dinner Brit had the Tuna au poive. She enjoyed the fish, but thought the peppercorns robbed some of the flavor. Her side of asparagus was crispy and tasty. She rounded out the night with what she said was a "damn good cappuccino". My dinners original order consisted of an order of Parisian Gnocchi, to which poor Meg had to break the bad news and say they were out of. She recommended the Duck Confit Crepes. Three crepes folded on the plate with shredded duck layered down the middle. The duck was flavorful, but I felt that the crepes lost their way in this meal. I think another type of starch would be better served here-(rosemary roasted fingerling potatoes anyone?). I did have a great side of lentils and sausage-the flavors worked well together and they were quite filling. I'll be back but I don't think Brit will be as her and my post dinner discussion came to the conclusion that she is not the biggest fan of this type of French food. Saint Jacques on the other hand was clearly excluded from the list of 'personna non grata' Parisian restaurants.

I was visiting my BFF in Raleigh and she suggested Sunday brunch at Coquette. We were concerned about the potential wait on a weekend morning, but she was able to secure a reservation on Open Table and we were in business! The restaurant is located in part of a fairly new "upscale" strip mall and I thought it was cute inside- black and white tiled floors, tall wine cabinets along the walls, and country-styled light fixtures. What I didn't like, and didn't really get, was the red curtain you walk through to enter the restaurant. Kind of weird and unnecessary. Around the time we arrived(11:30), the wait was 30-40 minutes. We were seated promptly at a table along the banquette, which was probably 25 or 30 feet long with tables spaced about a foot apart all along and chairs on te other side. We were very near to our neighbors, but it's wasn't a romatic meal, so it was really okay with us. I tried their sweet tea and my bestie just stuck to water. They did have a mimosa deal going on, but I had to work that afternoon and wasn't able to drink- we saw lots and lots of them coming out, though- must have been good!! We also noticed that everyone else had baskets of sliced baguette bread and butter on their table, but we did not. I overheard the girl at the table next to me talking about how fresh the butter was. We never asked for it because we assumed it would come, but our entrees came out and we just dove in to those instead. I went with the Spinach and Chèvre quiche, which was served with a salade of baby greens. I also noticed they had something called Grapefruit Brulee on the menu. The server described it as a sliced grapefruit with a crunchy sugar topping. Sounded intriguing, so I ordered it too. The quiche slice was HUGE. I mean gigantic! I cannot even imagine how big the total quiche must be from which this was sliced! It shook like Jell-o when I pressed my fork into it and tasted light as air. I actually was able to finish most of it, as it just wasn't a heavy quiche- that is a good thing! I was disappointed by the amount of spinach, though- there was just a piddly amount along the top of the quiche. The accompanying greens were delightful- with finely sliced onion and a light vinaigrette, this was a pretty good brunch choice. My friend ordered the Florentine, which, judging from all the posted user photos, is popular here. It consisted of poached egges, tomatoes confit, and spinach on a croissant, covered in hollandaise. I had a bite and it was quite good, though rich. She was happy with her choice. Okay, onto the Grapefruit situation. Now, I love pamplemousse! It is truly one of my favorite French words to say and it is truly one of my favorite things to eat! In fact, I don't want to brag or anything here, but not only do I have several utensils at home dedicated to grapefruit-eating, I even have a plastic version for traveling that won't be confiscated by TSA so that I may have my tasty citrus on the go. Now that you understand my passion for grapefruit, I need to tell you what was wrong with this- It was literally a grapefruit half in a bowl that was covered in a hard, crystallized sugar layer. But what bugged me was a) before the brûlée took place, the seeds were not removed- see the picture I posted. The black spot in the middle is a burned seed. There were 6 or 7 seeds total under the sugar, but you had to break off the sugar layer to get them out- defeating the whole idea. Secondly, the dish was not served with a utensil. I asked my server for a spoon for the grapefruit, expecting that they would have a grapefruit spoon. Instead, I was given a stumpy soup spoon. To eat grapefruit. I was not a fan. For $4.50 for half of a grapefruit, they should remove the seeds and either section it out for you or provide a proper utensil for doing so yourself. Overall, it was decent, but a bit arrogant and I would probably find another place for brunch next time I am visiting.

First time i checked in with yelp while I was at this restaurant. I liked this place before they were on chef wanted and I still like the food. The portions were a little smaller then I remember, but the food was good. They do have options for folks that need gluten free options and their waitstaff is good with making the recommendations.

Dinner at Coquette is a wonderful treat. The lighting is dim and even throughout dining area; comfortable and inviting for date night. Wine and beer options abound, we unadventurously opted for the chilled water. Escargot starter was firm with a subtle buttery flavor. This muted flavor was probably due to the massive amounts of homemade butter I had already devoured with the complimentary French bread. Nonetheless, I wasn't too excited to mop up the sauce. The truffle fries were amazing, yet seemingly just as simple as the menu item description. Why can't I make them like this at home?!?! Cassoulet was a hearty, rustic looking white bean casserole with huge chunks of pork and andouille sausage, served in its own bakeware and covered with crispy breadcrumbs. I always clean off my plate at French restaurants, but didn't come close to finishing even half of the dish before I was stuffed. I had imagined the seafood crepe to be a dainty little fluff dish, but it was filled with huge bits of fresh scallop and wrapped in a thick pancake wrap. I've only ever had the thin, crisp variety of crepe... it feels like Coquette would rather not have any patrons leaving hungry. Service was friendly and didn't interrupt dinner for us. Drink levels were attentively monitored, and we never felt rushed. Nice establishment in North Hills...

We were thrilled by our dinner here! We don't want stuffy and formal, but we love great quality and great service. This was the first dinner meal "out" that we have both said WOW to. My wife had the trout almondine and I had the seared scallops. A dinner worth every penny! We look forward to our next visit. Great service too. Nothing to complain about. When is the last time we could say that? Can't remember. Highly recommended!

Coquette Brasserie was a very nice place to have dinner. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding! I had GRILLED PORK TENDERLOIN with grilled asparagus, lyonnaise potato, and roasted garlic compound butter and my date had the PAN ROASTED DUCK BREAST with sweet corn purée, Fingerling potatoes, and spinach. Both dishes were fabulous and we will be going back!

I wasn't expecting France when we decided to eat here, but it wasn't half bad. The oysters were fresh, but the foie gras was very disappointing. It was overly heavy and not enough brioche for the massive amount of foie. The crispy trout was perfectly crispy, but still moist enough on the inside. 4 stars for the service and decent french food. 1 off for the foie.

We had some initial delays in service, which our waiter told us because someone called in sick. I actually have not docked them for service at all in my review, because he was so apologetic all throughout the meal that the apologies almost became worse than the initial delay. But otherwise service was good an on par with a nicer restaurant. We ate during restaurant week and the food was decent, just did not seem French styled at all. Portion size was good. Risotto was good, lamb shanks were decent, but the creme brulee was terrible; cold on the onside and burned on the outside. They have a full bar available.

I went to Coquette today for brunch; my second brunch there in the span of a couple months. I had the florentine, because I'd pretty much eat anything with hollandaise sauce on or near it. It was a good-sized portion, and the hollandaise was delicious. No complaints about the service. The waiter was around when we needed him but stopped short of being overbearing; and was around with sufficient frequency despite us coming in right around the busy brunch rush.

Coquette Brasserie is a very good choice for lunch or dinner in a French restaurant that is not too fancy. The food is very good with a nice range of entree's. If you like escargot this is a good place, The lunch and dinner options are typically French and the desserts are excellent. They also have a full bar with a good selection of wines. The wait staff varies between very helpful and not quite as helpful as one would like, but overall good. Even when I have a reservation I usually am not seated immediately upon arrival even though I see empty tables, which is curious. Overall, however, I like Coquette.

On our way out of REI we saw Coquette and decided to go check it out for a snack. The crepe is the easiest dessert and a staple in the list of French desserts yet I can't even describe what it tasted like. The batter was too salty. The profiteroles, a pain to make fresh and easily recognizable from the frozen kind which I suspect those were (the filling is a dead giveaway), tasted better than the crepe, oddly enough. The cappuccino was good, then again one would have to try hard to mess that up. The place looks amazing and true to the real deal, which earns them two easy stars. The staff, although frazzled (in a semi-empty cafe in mid-afternoon) were doing their best, remained courteous and pleasant, which is always appreciated in my book even if I have to wait or ask twice. No biggie to us. Will be going back to try out the entrees based on the previous reviews.

Was in the area for business and happened to pass Brasserie Coquette while out searching for a place to lunch. After a quick check of the yelp reviews I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. I sat in the bistro area, as I was alone, and the barternder was my server at the small table. To start I ordered the French onion soup - which I happen to adore, so I get it any time it's on a menu. This one was pretty good. A little too much bread for my liking, but had great flavor and I didn't feel the need to add anything to it. For my entree I had the pan seared trout with fingerling potatoes and green beans. The trout was delicious - very flavorful, the green beans were firm, fresh and perfectly sauteed and the potatoes were fine (nothing to write home about, but not bad either). All in all I was pleased with my lunch.

It was OK. This place would not compare very well at all with a restaurant in France. I would hardley call it French.

Made a reservation for New Year's Eve dinner and was very satisfied with the food, service and ambiance. Since it was New Year's Eve they had a limited menu which was to be expected. I had the lamb shank which was very tender and fell off the bone. Seasoned well and hot when it came out. My wife enjoyed her snapper and she-crab soup as well. The decor is very nice and not too noisy inside. The waiter was very encouraging (he told me "well done sir" when I finished my beer- that was a first) and was attentive and helpful.

Really great atmosphere. Really great food with good portions. Wines by the glass selection was too esoteric--for someone like myself, I have a pretty good idea about wines and even I didn't understand the by the glass options. That said, I loved the food. I had the French Onion Soup and Coq au Vin. Both were very well made. The problem I had was the server was rushing me the whole time. Within the first five minutes of sitting down she asked me 3 times if I was ready to order. Once I ordered the soup as an appetizer I wanted to enjoy it. I even specified, "please wait to bring my entree." Two minutes later it showed up. I wanted to sit and enjoy my meal but it was hard with the feeling of being rushed the whole time.

Had vegetarian gnocchi. Just a little bland for my taste, but tasted much better with just a little bit of black pepper (already available on the table along with salt). The gnocchi was interesting, soft cheese like texture. A la carte brussel sprouts (vegetarian version without lardon) had good taste too. Wish it was a little more crunchy - just being picky though! Overall, atmosphere was busy, but not loud during lunch, service was good, food was good, and I would definitely return for lunch.

Beautiful restaurant. GREAT presentation. Elegant, wonderful ambiance. Even the acoustics are great with the way they draped the ceiling in the far room towards the back of the restaurant. The creme brulee is to die for! The waiter definitely wasn't Mr Personality but he was nice and accommodated us. He didn't come over to check with us to see how everything was which I found unusual. He did come over and check but never asked. We were a large party so we were all talking so maybe he didn't want to interupt? Hmmmm.... I ordered the duck after asking him about it. I LOVE duck esp when it is cooked right and is not chewy. It WAS cooked to my liking and the presentation was gorgeous, however my meal was COLD. and I mean COLD. My significant other's meal was cold also. A couple of other folks in our party said their meal was hot, but mine was definitely COLD. Not good when you are paying those high prices.

I went to Coquette recently with my boyfriend to quietly celebrate my birthday. We had a lovely evening. We arrived early for our reservation, but they were able to seat us quickly. I was pleased to see we got a table by the french doors opening onto a small terrace. The terraces are kept private from passers-by with a tall railing and beautiful overflowing flower boxes. The decor is very close to authentic. The giveaway that you are in the US is that the building is new.....almost no brasserie in Paris is in a new building! Our server was just attentive enough. Several times she came by to fill our water or take a plate, but her presence did not require us to stop our conversation - much appreciated. The food was excellent. I had the frisee salad (dressed perfectly with a light vinaigrette, poached egg, and lardons) and the duck breast (cooked perfectly medium as requested, with sweet corn puree, jus reduction, sauteed cabbage). Both excellent. My man had the mesclun salad and the hamburger and raved over both. The hamburger was huge and clearly freshly ground beef. We each had a cocktail - manhattan for him, sidecar for me. These are staple cocktails for us, and both were perfectly mixed. I had a glass of sparkling wine for dessert - be warned, it is a BIG champagne flute! The aspect we appreciated the most was the *pace* of the meal. We were there for 2 hours, which is what I expect from a nicer restaurant. We never wanted for anything, but we didn't feel rushed at all. Right as I was finishing my dessert drink, I heard Non, Je ne regrette rien come on and had to leave before tears started flowing down my cheeks. Truly a perfect evening!

Whenever I crave French food, I think of Coquette. I love the brasserie decor and the look and feel of the restaurant. Their offerings are everything I'd want at a French restaurant. The bread is always delightfully crisp and the butter perfectly salted. Some of my favorite classic French offerings - such as, the escargot and chicken liver mousse - are prepared carefully and consistently. I've tried several of their specials and have never left feeling disappointed. If you're a fan of mussels, you should definitely try the moules frites (mussels and wonderful french fries). I order the mussels "a la mariniere" which is prepared in a delicious garlicky, white wine broth. Furthermore, if you've managed to save space for dessert, their pastry chef is extremely talented and often prepares exquisite homemade ice cream. I was won over by the profiteroles (essentially a cream puff filled with ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce) which were served with salted caramel ice cream. Pure indulgence.

Normally the family and I stop in for Sunday brunch, but a trip to Raleigh on a Saturday afternoon family fun day brought us to Coquette for dinner. The service on this day was impeccable and the food was top-notch. I ordered the moules frites(mussels and fries) while the wife decided on the seafood crepe. Both meals exceeded expectations but the seafood crepes won out as best meal. While Coquette will remain a brunch staple, it is good to know their dinner offerings are great as well.

Outrageous burger. Completely outrageous! My wife and I ended up at Brasserie during a shopping trip mainly due to the swanky outdoor seating. Nothing like a sunny meal and glass of wine to make a weekend lunch special. Our server was prompt and super causal (in the good way). He made excellence wine suggestions and let us sample before committing. The lunch menu had a great selection of dishes and spanning from meat/cheese plates to sandwiches to full entrees. My wife got the grilled portobello napoleon, which had a really nice favor balance and perfectly soft french baguette (rare; no roof of mouth damage incurred). My choice was the highlight of the day. The Le Coquette Hamburger lives up to being named after the restaurant. It consisted of house ground steak, brie, caramelized onions, sunny sideup egg, and lardons on a bun that looked like a croissant. The lardons (chunks of pork belly) and the decadent bun pushed this burger into the ridiculously good area. Plus, they actually cook it the way you ask for it. I asked for medium rare and medium rare is what I got. The center was similar to steak tartare in texture and taste (probably due to the quality of the in-house ground steak, yum). Being a french joint, the fries were properly cooked and crunchy. Good thing I did my pants shopping before our meal...... I looked over the dinner menu and we will soon be making a return trip to check it out.

My girlfriend and I had our first visit for sunday brunch, which turned into quite the day after bottomless mimosas. We always heard about this place but never got around to it because we lived relatively far away at the time. I remember the day like it was yesterday. The weather was perfect and the inside was a bee hive! The only thing was, I dropped her off and it took me forever to find a parking spot. The location is prime time real-estate, which you must take into consideration if you have other things to get done that day. Fortunately for us, this trip we had nothing but time to enjoy ourselves. That being said, waiting 25 minutes for an open table of 4 wasn't so bad, knowing that we had bacon with a side of champagne and vitamin C right around the corner. The service was just fine, but was better than the food. I won't rant and rave about their dishes as they were just par. A neat look place as the bathrooms were stupendous.

This was my second visit and first during the dinner rush -- our group did not leave disappointed at all. With a large group going to a busy spot on Raleigh for dinner you are never really sure what type of service you will get. Thankfully Coquette has a large back room where they usually sit all of their large tables. We had a group of 10 and had made a reservation a few weeks ahead of time. Server was very attentive about filling drinks and getting our orders as well -- He certainly had to be working there a while because he knew how to move around the table well and get our table going on ordering too. My cocktail (I ordered and Old Fashioned) ended up tasting more like a Manhattan then I am used to. I usually make my own at home and they didn't' have a similar color at all. Our food was really solid - we had a number of the appetizers to start -- the mussels were a hit -- and for our entrees a few people ordered the duck while I went with the monkfish that I really enjoyed too. Even those that ordered salmon had it cooked correctly too -- we were all pleased with the meal. Some of our table got desert that they all enjoyed too. We will certainly make sure to go back again.

I came here for dinner a few months ago and remembered having a good experience so I thought I'd come back again to try their brunch! We ordered the Eggs Benedict and Croque Madame, but was thoroughly disappointed. I was wary the moment the food came out, because of the plating - or lack thereof. Unfortunately, the food was equally disappointing and seemed mass-produced. Both dishes were bland and mushy, and both were drenched in sauce as if they were trying to hide what was underneath. I really liked the charming decor of the restaurant, but will not be returning for a meal!

I visited Coquette Brasserie last week as part of a business function. Perhaps the server was just trying to pace us because we were involved in conversation, but the service was a little slow. I don't think I have ever ordered lamb shank in a restaurant before, but I decided to try something different and was pleasantly surprise. We had the petite tarte flambée for appetizer and it was delicious. The bacon lardons were an awesome addition. I would go back.

Of course I had to review just about every review before I/we tried it. Our waitress was so nice and knew the menu very well. I ordered the Pan Seared Fois Gras - yum! It us some vanilla compote that really added the extra touch and it was seared to perfection. We had the Oyster Du Jour. They were delicious, but I would have rather had the mignonette sauce frozen and on top of my oysters. My husband had French Onion soup and thought it was delicious. Most French onion soups (in our opinion) are really salty/full of sodium unless it's homemade done right. Well, this was done right. Delicious. He then had Coc Au Vin and said the chicken was very moist and overall was very delicious. We ended with the profiteroles. They came out filled with ice cream and the server poured a hot chocolate sauce over them. Yum. I'd have to say - so far, I liked it. I was a little sketchy when I walked in and the decor reminded me of an older restaurant - but those went away as the restaurant packed very quickly.

Have only been for brunch but all the things I've had have been good. My favorites I've tried are the salad nicoise and eggs Benedict options. Their omelettes are ok but nothing special- I'd go with something more unique. The menu is small but good options for sweet or savory. Will have to try it for dinner sometime!

I'm glad to see they finally let go of the illusion that "Le Plateau" is actually petite; it is not coming on a plate either. This abundant "fruits of the sea" still comes in a gigantic basin ice bed, with half lobster tail, 6 oysters, 4 clams, 6 jumbo shrimps, 6 mussels and 4 halved scallops. CAUTION: It is market price. I already know that plate was going to be awesome, but what about this fix menu for the "Taste of North Hills?" ~First Course~ 1. Frog Legs Meunière - Pan seared with lots butter, on top of roasted potato fingerlings and sautéed swiss chard 2. White Bean Soup - with basil pesto added for flavors ~Second Course~ 1. Flounder Fricassée - Pan seared, pomme puree** with creamy vegetable sauce 2. Pork Au Poivré - Roasted pork loin to almost perfect medium, adds garlic & leek butter, pomme puree and grilled asparagus ~Third Course~ 1. Crème Brûlée - serves with fresh fruits 2. Flourless Chocolate Torte - with raspberry sauce, whipped cream, and chocolate flakes All these, added up to a very happy meal, right before movie time. **pomme puree is just fancy way of saying mashed potato, or at least this is how I always make my mashed potato. I love it, but kinda wished not both dishes came with it. If these are the only two choices on the fixed menu, at least give them a bit variety!

I'm only giving this place 3 stars for the manager and wait staff. The food was truly sub-par and quite a decline over the last year. I have frequented this place many times with friends and family for its location and beef- bourguignon. Sadly, on my last 4 visits, the food was truly lackluster! See the photo of the quiche, and know it tastes just as it looks. The steak was much worse, with absolutely no flavor! Can ANYONE please explain why there is such an infestation of flies in this place?!? When the doors are open AND closed! Bread anyone? (If you've been there, you know your bread is the landing spot for the flies, as it remains uncovered all day in the open)!

Someone described it as 'wonderfully average' and I have to agree with that description. It hits the spot and the prices are reasonable, so it was an overall pleasant experience and I would return if I was in a pickle and had to find somewhere to eat around the area. I would not, however, purposefully return as nothing on the menu was by any means creative or enviable. Overall, wonderfully average

4.5 for sure...nearly perfect!! Brunch is not just for the post-church crowd. It's clear that if you aren't sipping bottomless something on a Sunday afternoon, you aren't alive! Seriously, check your pulse next Sunday. With out a mimosa in your hand, your heart finds it difficult to pump. That's why on my most recent visit to The Triangle I had my buddy line up reservations a month in advance. We STILL had to wait 20 minutes for our table, but how can you ask people to rush in a restaurant themed after people known for ordering 1 cup of coffee and setting for hours?!?! With pieces of quiche the size of your head, a bread basket of crusty fresh bread and butter sprinkled with sea-salt, and mimosas that really do just keep appearing before you can see the bottom, this place had me before I even cracked open the menu. The space, large and industrial is Euro-sized by large wooden cabinets that house their extensive selection of wines, exposed brass fixtures and that classic white apron on the smiling staff. With plenty of natural light, the restaurant was a buzz with energy. There are no less than three people taking care of your table which means the service is excellent and fast with out being pushy. With plenty of pork on the menu, I opted for the burger with thick cut bacon bits and a runny egg on a croissant! ZOMG!!! Done perfectly medium, the patty was great, the bacon, amazing and that yolk just put it over the top. Heaven forgive me, I had to eat it open face and left the second bun for my bottomless-pit friend.....the mix of yolk and buttery croissant almost stopped my heart (hey....good thing I was holding that mimosa to keep it beating!)!! My friends got an omelette (MASSIVE) filled with a bechamel sauce that was very tasty and a Monte Cristo sandwhich pressed to perfection. There was NO room for dessert, and I opted for more mimosas instead of coffee! With reasonable brunch prices, great flavors and great service, there will be long lines at Croquette for years to come. Keep alive, keep drinking!!

This was the most expensive, worst meal I've had in a very long time. Tilefish that tasted like rubber, both co-dinners steaks had to be sent back. Rude flippant wait staff. Steer clear of this place!

I went here Saturday night with about 20 colleagues and had the private room rented. It was a nice room with a presentation of their wines in beautiful cabinets, providing a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, this was the highlight. Overall, neither my girlfriend or I were overly impressed by any course of the meal and we had something different for each course. The service was adequate. However, they didn't even have forks for the hors d'oeuvres. They forgot to put salad dressing on the mesclun salad. The medium filet mignon was so rare that it could have walked off the plate and the salt encrusted butter was just terrific for promoting high blood pressure. The soup was luke warm as was the main courses. Serving burnt French fries with the steak reminded me of Long Horn or similar. Maybe that is the new target audience more accustomed to thinking Mac and cheese is upscale. The $2,600+ basics bill was outrageous for this experience especially requiring a minimum $2,000 food charge. I wouldn't recommend it as I consider it well below value expected. There are much better places in town to blow that kind of money. Time to switch the place back perhaps to one of those low end chain restaurants for 20 somethings. Overcharging for average at best presentations by pretending to be elegant, preying on people's perceptions of a French brasserie seems to be the business model. Give it a miss unless it is free.

The atmosphere was great (aside from having to swat at flies because of the outdoor environment option). The food was great! And the mimosas were GREAT, thanks to Meredith! I'll definitely be back when I come back to Raleigh. However, the mimosas are NOT bottomless but they are two dollars and worth it.

Dear Coquette, how do you continue to provide a fantastic dining experience with every meal? Is it the professional, friendly, well-trained servers? How about the flavorful, authentic, French-themed food? Or could it be the pleasant and relaxed environment, especially when weather is nice and side doors are opened? Wait a minute. I know - it's all of these! Seriously, I just wish you could make nice weather all year long so I could feel like I'm in Paris in springtime LOL!

This is a wonderful place for girls afternoon lunch. The lemonade is made at the bar with fresh lemons and the steak sandwich felt sinful but a nice "real" portion- French NOT American! Staff was genuinely friendly and accommodating. Lunch menu was different and you knew you were OUT to lunch! They grind their meat onsite so hamburgers are fabulous- the fried egg on top is outstanding!

Was in North Hills shopping on a Saturday evening. Walked right in. Nice atmosphere, good soundproofing. Cozy. Had a great server-Randy- who was efficient, helpful and super friendly. I wanted to try a seasonal cocktail and he described the Cranberry Rye as "Thanksgiving in a glass" Who could resist? It was exceptionally good. My husband and I split a French Onion soup the Le Coquette sandwich. Both outstanding. The Le Coquette is a delicious steakburger served on a round flaky croissant bun, with softened Brie, grilled onions and a fried egg on top. Beyond delicious!! For $12 and served with delicious, plentiful thin fries, it was a bargain. I highly recommend this little gem for lunch or dinner. If I didn't live pretty far away, I would go often.

Came here for my mom's surprise birthday dinner, and the whole process was effortless, from the reservation to the cake we brought for dessert. Absolutely loved dinner at Coquette, but warning: if you don't like the whole North Hills persona/essence, then this might not be your top choice. The entire restaurant--from the short menu to the cursive "water closet" signs--embodies the shopping center's aura. I ordered the trout and was so pleasantly satisfied. It was so soft and tender. I had bits and pieces of my family's dishes and also fell in love with each of them. Even the hamburger was deliciously pink in the middle and their skinny fries tasted far from the oily, overcooked frozen fries at most other restaurants. The steak frites were tender and completely doused (in the sauce of your choice. Their options are quite extensive and super French). I enjoyed the chicken as it was also very tender, but probably wouldn't order that as my own entree when spending $20/dish when fish, scallops and steak are also featured on the menu. Loved loved loved the bar and the huuuuge wine collection they have available. Definitely wouldn't mind coming back just to sip on glasses of wine at the bar.

When you live in an area long enough, you get to remember what used to be in a certain spot. Given this location has gone through 3 different dining establishments, we took our time in trying this place. Well I am happy to report that given how good it was, I see Brasserie Coquette staying for a long time. I loved the interior and almost felt like I was at the Paris in Las Vegas. Service was great and the food was delicious. I wouldn't hesitate to go again and look forward to our next visit (hopefully soon!)

Meh. I wonder if maybe the star chef was out the Wed I was here. I had the gnocchi appetizer: it was okay. Then the moules frites. They were average at best. The white wine sauce was too thin or lacking flavor and the aioli served with the frites was runny. I asked the server and he said that is the normal. It was all okay, but not the best French bistro I have been to. Service was good and atmosphere excellent.

I came here on Christmas Eve around 4:30 with my family. There was a large group of about 12 people eating next to us, and they were served the dinner menu. Even after asking to be served the dinner menu, they said that they couldn't do it. It was really disappointing to see the family next us enjoying a lovely dinner while we were stuck eating French fries and sandwiches. Wouldn't recommend this place at all, especially not their lunch menu which has about 4 items on it.

Came here with girl friends after a lovely Sunday morning of complimentary yoga at LuluLemon across the street. We all liked the feeling and look of the place. I had an Omelet Lorraine, which was not bad, but I would not have again. There was definitely no flavor beyond the ham, bacon and cheese. The potatoes on the side were nice. Bottomless mimosas for $10 were a fantastic deal. They were rather weak, but you usually can't get two glasses of OJ for ten dollars!

So I have a lot of friends who like this place, so I have been back twice since the original review. (Yes, I know it's only been a month). The star rating remains a 3-3.5, but I can comment more on the overall experience. Return visit #1 - Dinner on a busy Friday night. We took a table in the bar area. Service was excellent. Prompt, friendly, attentive. I had the oysters (fantastic) and the salmon (also fantastic). Overall a great night and I would have given it 5 stars for this visit. Return visit #2 - Brunch two days later. This visit would have gotten a 1. We made a reservation after hearing that they are popular on Sunday brunch. That much was true.. The place was packed. We got our table for two without any trouble, but our server wasn't quite with it. No personality, not knowledgable about the menu, not very attentive. We ordered grey goose bloody mary's - $12 a pop in a skinny glass with lots of ice. I did appreciate that they were made with fresh tomato puree. I did not appreciate that it only took me 5 sips to get the bottom of the glass. I ordered the monte cristo - It resembled a traditional monte cristo, but was drowning in syrup. Tasted good, but not what I would have expected from the menu description. My friend ordered the bacon and onion jam crepes. She was served the banana and nutella crepes. She finally flagged down the waiter, who simply took the plate away and came back a few minutes later with the correct order. No apology, no nothing. The crepes were ok...I had considered ordering them and was glad I went with the monte cristo. Again (as with my first review), I had the "no side, no garnish" moment. Not sure why that bothers me so, but I just feel like it's a lot of the same on a plate, with nothing to break it up.

In honesty, I didn't expect Raleigh's food scene to be all that exciting, and to call this place exciting would be an overstatement. However, it is definitely a restaurant worth checking out if you're visiting the Research Triangle. Brasserie Coquette reminds me of the chain, Mon Ami Gabi; though, it's more charming and has, in my opinion, better food. My boyfriend and I started our meal with the escargots and truffle fries. After trying truffle fries at Eventide in Arlington, VA, I've been absolutely obsessed with sampling more versions of this luxurious spin on a classic comfort food. The truffle fries smelled more like the fungi that they were infused with than tasted. I would have liked a little more of that umami quality to come through in the flavor. The escargots were well-seasoned and perfectly cooked. I thought the parsley was a bit grassy tasting, which the bf appreciated. Me, not so much. For our entrees, we ordered seafood crepe and cassoulet. According to him, the cassoulet was flavorful and had the right amount of salt. (Disclaimer: he likes his food salty.) The seafood crepe was tasty though nothing extraordinary, and it didn't really set itself apart from other crepes I've tried. The thing is, savory crepes seem to be one of those dishes that you can't go wrong with but that you shouldn't have too high expectations for...kinda like omelets...It's a safe choice that can never be too good or too bad. Overall, dining here was a good experience. For me, the noise level was perfect. I could hear some chatter but it wasn't distracting and didn't force me to raise my voice more than normal to be heard. The service was slow in the beginning but it picked up towards the end. In summary, this was an above average dining option in a city that is, to my knowledge, not known for its food.

Short and simple. Best Restaurant in Raleigh. We go there for our anniversary every year (and anytime we can think of an excuse for celebrating!) That being said the lunch brunch is totally reasonable and excellent. (Poor beer selection, go with wine or one of their cocktails)

Excellent restaurant. The bacon jam is out of this world and Beth (the chef) will walk you through recommendations. Great atmosphere as well.

My favorite place for French cuisine in Raleigh at a reasonable price. Great decor with very good service. I tend to always order my favorite dishes, but everything that I, and others, have had has been spot on. Several French friends noted that the creme brulee is better than that in France. Some vin rouge, charcuterie, and coq au vin and I'm back in Aix for a few moments!

Good food, good service, flies everywhere though. The waiter boxed my food because I was tired of waiving my arms to keep the aggressive flies from landing on my food. I ate the food in my car in the parking lot.

Having a few hours to kill before at 6pm flight, I decided to have a leisurely lunch at Coquette. It was the only place in Raleigh I knew of from having seen it on "Chef Wanted". It is in a bustling shopping plaza and perhaps is not as intimate in a décor as it looked on television but it looked close enough to a brasserie as one would see in North Carolina. The staff was very pleasant at the door and the waiter was very nice and helpful. We had a nice conversation after the meal ended. Other staff kept the tea glass filled . I really did not even thoroughly check out the menu as I was 95% certain, steak frites would be my choice as it is one of my favorite dishes. I liked my meal--it wasn't the best I've ever eaten but at $15, it was certainly a good value compared to other places. The steak was cooked perfectly but the brandy peppercorn sauce was on the bottom of the plate and somewhat watery and perhaps not as peppery as I would have liked. A generous portion of frites accompanied the steak and they were slightly undercooked--not enough crunch but it did not stop me from eating them all. A basket of fresh bread and butter was served before the meal and the bread was excellent. After hearing someone at the next table rave about the sorbet and even wanting to talk to the pastry chef to find out how he made it so light (she was a culinary student), I decided to have a dessert, I chose French Beignets that had some custard fill and came with a trio of dipping sauces--the chocolate ganache sauce was terrific and the beignets were light, somewhat slender and dusted with powdered sugar. These are not what you get a Café du Monde in New Orleans--these are more refined. Overall, I enjoyed the meal, service and atmosphere and thought it was a good value. If I am ever in Raleigh again, I would return.

Awesome! Visiting from NYC and went here for brunch. I had the steak sandwich. Baguette was perfect, gruyere was excellent and the steak was cooked perfectly rare to melt in your mouth. I also had the opportunity to try the steak frites with the bordelaise, the sauce was to die for! Excellent light meal that hit the spot!

Sitting at the bar with a dozen oysters on the half shell (their's are always cold water) and a bottle of Lucien Crochet, Sancerre. It doesn't get any better than this. Maybe two dozen.

Duck Breast: Very good. Paired well with vegetables. French Onion Soup: Just OK. Was a bit sweet for my taste and not as good as my Mom's. :) Beef Tartar: Finally a place in Raleigh for it. Awesome. Was mixed with mustard tastes and paired well with Cornichons. Esgargots: Really good taste. Recommended. Atmosphere: Felt much like a Parisan restaurant, but with the rain it wasn't opened up to the outdoors so missed out on the full atmosphere. I haven't seen a better French restaurant in Raleigh. Definitely would return as the menu had plenty of interest and we couldn't touch it all.

We went to Coquette on a Tuesday night to try and liven up the week with a nice dinner out. The restaurant was fairly empty as the weather was poor with a tornado warning in the area. We passed on the wine and went straight to appetizers. We had the gruyere and potato croquettes and the terrine de jour. The croquettes were really crispy on the outside, and soft/creamy on the inside. The flavor was great even though the sauce they came with for dipping was a little bland for my taste. The terrine was awesome though it seemed a bit too cold and I would have preferred it to be a little more room temperature. We had their coq au vin and beef bourguignon for entrees. Both were spectacular. Both the beef and the chicken were fork tender with great flavor. The sauce in the bottom of the bowls was pretty salty, which I thought went great with a bite of mushrooms, what looked like bacon, and pearl onions. For dessert, we had the frozen mousse which was so rich we had trouble finishing it. All in all, we enjoyed the meal thoroughly and the service was incredibly quick (though it was probably due to the fact that there weren't many people there that night). 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 1 desert came out to $55 without a tip. I'd say that is a pretty good deal and would certainly be interested in coming back soon!

I received a gift card to Coquette last Christmas but have never made time to go to North Hills to redeem it. Well, shame on me! My partner and I chose to have lunch there one gorgeous Saturday. Upon enter the restaurant, I was impressed by the large bay doors that were open and guests seated at cute cafe tables just inside wrought iron fencing that was screened with foliage and blossoms. Although I have never been to France, I imagined I was stepping into a quaint cafe in Paris. The atmosphere and decor were incredible. The bar itself was a work of functional art. We were seated immediately and our waitress quickly greeted us recommended a crisp Sauvignon Blanc. The lunch menu offered many standard French dishes, but with a bit of a twist here and there. We started with a meat and cheese tray with healthy portions of house made sausages, terrines, compote, mustard and fresh breads. FANTASTIC! We joked that we wanted to order 2 more to complete our meal. For our entree, my partner ordered the Steak Frites with compound herb butter. Although he ordered it to be medium, the steak was still suculent and tender. The compound butter was rich yet floral, and the thin cut fries were crisp and elegant. I opted for the signature, house-ground beef burger with raclette, lardons, caramelized onions and brie served on a crusty croissant. FABULOUS!!! We passed on dessert only because we were so stuffed from the delicious lunch. I can't wait to go back and further explore this gem of a brasserie. Bon apetit!!

Let's keep this place going, I am not a fan of chains like Ruth Chris', and that seems to be one of the only choices we have here in Raleigh for half way decent dinning. The cheese plate was lacking, especially since we do have good local cheeses, they are not taking advantage of our local resources, I believe. One of the only chef's choice vegetarian entrees I have ever ordered that I have actually liked. It was very thoughtful, and extremely tasty. We tried the cherry clafoutis, and that was decent too. My wife got the pate, which wasn't that good. It was too course, and not smooth. All in all we need to support this place. It is ten times better then the previous restaurants that have been in this spot.

It seems like the Urban Food Group (which owns Coquette, Vivace, Frazier's, and Porter's) is 0 for 2 at this point. Coquette is a cute French inspired restaurant although the food wasn't quite French enough. It tasted like southern food trying to be French which was a bit weird. I had the croque madame which was just ok. Nothing interesting going on with the cheese and ham or bread or even the egg on top. The wine was blah and waaaay too tanny. The dessert was fantastic though. I highly recommend the clafoutis. Verdict: Expensive for mediocre "French" food. Come only for the dessert. For actual French food that's worth the price, go to Saint Jacques.

The brunch here is one of the BEST brunches I have had in the Triangle area. It is consistently delicious, with a decent variety and very reasonable prices. The atmosphere is cute. I will say that going during the spring or fall is always a treat because they open the glass doors in the wall running the length of the restaurant and it really opens the restaurant with a breeze and fresh air. The service can be hit or miss. I have only had one very frustrating moment at Coquette where I finally had to flag down another waiter because I had been waiting for the check for over twenty minutes and my waiter had disappeared. I have not eaten lunch or dinner at Coquette, but have been at Coquette for drinks before a late showing of a movie and the service was adequate. I will say that the individuals who handle reservations at Coquette have a lot to learn about customer service and organization. Three times now have I made reservations here only to find out they entered the date in wrong, or the time in wrong, or the number in the party which caused some annoyance and confusion.

We enjoyed dinner at Coquette. Much like dining in France, though, the service was slow. Chalk that up to authenticity. I had onion soup and dauphinoise potatoes, which were great. I also ordered a side of asparagus, which was served with an underwhelming and bland butter. The husband had cassoulet and he described it as very rich and flavorful. We skipped dessert solely based on the service. This is America and we don't want to endure a four-hour meal at a restaurant in North Hills.

When I lived in California, my favorite comfort food restaurant was a French bistro called Left Bank. I had that in mind both times I ate at Coquette's so that did set them up to a rather high standard. Never the less, I have had lunch at Coquette twice now and it is ok. Nothing spectacular, nothing outstanding and nothing inspiring but nothing awful either. The prices are a bit high and the drinks bit weak but the food is neither the best nor the worst I have ever eaten in the Triangle. The atmosphere is fine for lunch, if you are dining with a shopping buddy but I wouldn't recommend it for a rendezvous, real or imagined. I doubt if I will go back since a restaurant that is just alright doesn't inspire me to spend my money when there are other options to try in the same area.

I gave it five but this is really a four and half review (if it matters to you...not 100% perfect, but really outstanding). Wife took me here this evening for my first Father's Day dinner ever (two months away from our boy!). She knew I have a passion for French food, but good places in NC that do it right are hard to find. This joint didn't disappoint. The food was excellent. We had two appetizers (steak tar tar and escargots) cause I just couldn't decide. I spent some time working in Paris years before we were married and the menu brought me back. The snails were excellent. Not of the shell though so mildly disappointing, but taste wise everything you would want. (Super rich though as a warning...done right, but if that's not for you heads up). The tar tar however was the best I have ever had outside of France. If you don't know what to get as a starter go for it. We had a cheese plate to follow. Nice variety with excellent condiments complimenting (honey and berry relish, bleu cheese and relish was a highlight). All hard cheeses for us, though I believe it is a variety of the day / season. Very happy though. Only misstep being there were no grapes to accompany...perhaps a non-issue and me only missing my favorite bistro from back in the day. Top quality flavors. I had Parisian gnocchi and wife french beef bourguignon. Both could have been from the Latin Quarter. Enough said...but I'll add 90% of places either over or under cook gnocchi...this was perfect. We did creme brulee for dessert. So good we split one, and then ordered a second. The real deal. As good as the food was it was he service that made the joint. The wait staff was attentive but not intrusive, which is rare and exactly what you want. You have waiter and sommelier both knowing the house offerings well. To raise the bar they were also extremely classy but not at all pretentious. An almost never find. Top notch service. Though perhaps over exaggerated in my opinion for speedy refill of my Manhattan, which is a personal favorite of mine and specialty of the establishment that you rarely find on drink menus. Also if you look at the online menu note as well the y have specialties of the chef of the day which all sounded fantastic. I wanted a nice braised octopus starter as well, but with two starters planned already my wife told me i was being a fat boy and needed to make a choice like a big boy. Best service in the triangle...the little touches of class without snootiness that I can't describe.but you will appreciate. The only down side I would give to this joint is that most seatings are tables and not booths, and you are quite close to the party next to you making it a little louder than my personal preference would opt for during a classy French meal. But it certainly isn't a meal spoiler, and all by preference. Actually kind of the same feel as an outdoor cafe on the Ehamps Elysees with a little hussle and bussle. But you're not rushed. We had a two hour dinner with no pressure to leave. Great experience. Best part though that with high end service and atmosphere (without pretentiousness), two starters, cheese plate, two entres, two deserts, and three cocktails the bill came in at under a Benjamin. Most places in this area for comparable you could double that bill and half the portion sizes (we have leftovers for lunch tomorrow). Not cheap, but high value for your what you pay. We will definitely be back.

My first experience here was wonderful. I am generally reluctant to give 5 stars based upon a lunch. However, our lunch deserved it. My wife had scallops and I had beef bourgineon and we shared beignets for dessert. Everything (except for the bread) was wonderful. Great food, service and ambiance.

It was weeknight dining at Coquette. The inside of Coquette is much like a real French brasserie, but there is a lot more room between the tables. The staff was attentive and the food quality a good value for the price. I sampled the duck liver pate and a seared tuna. What made the night memorable was the profiteroles with chocolate sauce poured table side - I would go back for those and some coffee again.

Beautiful decor (including the bathrooms, nice) friendly staff and convenient location. I had the portobello sandwich, which was oddly presented with three layers of decrusted toasted white bread with cheese and veggies between served just above room temp. The flavors were great but it was hard to eat as it all just came apart as you tried to slice it. The French fries were perfection, as was the tea and bread. All in all, lunch for two for just over twenty bucks? My definition of a good deal. Just next time I want my 'sandwich' to be a sandwich, not a tower of sandwich ingredients!

Always a good spot to get some good French grub in Raleigh. I ordered the Frisee and Lardon salad which was very tasty with loads of bacon and a poached egg. The one dissapointment was that they changed the dressing for the salad to a more consumer friendly vinaigrette (the old recipe had duck liver in it and was delicious). For my entree I went with the Crispy Trout with haricots verts and fingerling potatoes. It was the perfect portion and cooked superbly.

Honestly, I have never been disappointed with this restaurant. Their menu is great, and their special, non-menu items are even better. Whether you're looking for a romantic, dimly lit venue for dinner or a bright and airy Sunday brunch, this is the place to go. I've had the mussels for dinner, and I highly recommend any of their crepes for brunch. Friendly, but sparse service makes this a lovely way to sit back and enjoy your food with friends in the non-American way (i.e. having a conversation/enjoying others company).

I have been here for biz lunches and dinners, parties, and with kids. Service is always great and I have never had a dish I did not like. Kids love beef bourg and French onion soup. My hubby will even order fish here! Recently hubby took young daughter who wants to be a chef here for a special night. Chef Beth gave her a tour of kitchen and fancy drinks were sent to the table. Wow. Oh and dessert! Save room. Great place for a drink and oysters in the beautiful bar. We have been to Paris a lot and the decor is spot on. I could live on the bread basket alone. Great for romantic dinner. Also have been to large parties where we had the entire place- wonderful!

I like to go here for lunch when I am in the area. Nice place, a little different. I can't speak to the authenticity of the cuisine, but my wife loves the Moules Frities, and the Parisian Gnocci. If you want something simple Le Hamburger with raclette cheese, or the Tarte Flambee are great options. If you have just won the lottery or robbed a bank, they have some very tasty, expensive beers to try; I do occasionally (taste the beer, not rob a bank).

Wife and I went with friends for a Sunday brunch there. The french onion soup was great. Steak and pomme frittes reminded me of my last visit to Paris. For dessert, I was going to go with the tried and true creme brulee. However, the waiter talked me into the cherry clafoutis. Glad I listened and enjoyed this dish for the first time.

We really like Coquette in N Hills. My husband is from Belgium and he says this is the closest to a bistro he has seen in the States. We love Le Pain Quotidien in LA and miss that a lot, so this is a good substitute for a light lunch. We haven't been for dinner yet. We have been to Coquette several times for lunch and the food is good and consistent; although the French Onion soup was terrible I have to say. Maybe we got a bad batch, but I won't order it again, very vinegear tasting and salty. When I told the waitress, she didn't seem to care. The quiche is very good and the croquettes are must. We went for brunch once and I didn't care for the menu. Overall, it's a nice place to go. Weather permitting, it's fun to walk/shop afterwards and you can make a Target run too.

Love this place! So I've never been to Paris, or France for that matter, but this restaurant makes me feel like I have at least an idea of what it might be like. The atmosphere is fun, the waitstaff is knowledgeable and the steak frites is delish! Any time I have the opportunity to eat at Coquette I get very excited. I've never had a bad experience here.

One of my favorite spots for lunch. If i lived a little closer it would probably happen more than once a month. The food is delicious. The Croquet Madame is phenomenal. They also have a great wine list. Never been here for dinner but lunch is always exceptional. Don't be surprised if you have a short wait but it will end up well worth it I'm sure.

my girlfriend and i went for triangle restaurant week. i got the 30$ three course deal and she got an app and another entree. the waiter was knowledgable and fun to talk to. he said "the chef" about 10 times which made me laugh but it was good service. i got a lamb shank that was kind of small but very good. my g/f got the coq au vin which was awesome. i love pearl onions. we also had the truffle frites (great), mushroom risoto (okay), and the peanut butter pie (not french but by far the highlight). the pie is awesome.

I went to Coquette for a girls night out this week and really enjoyed it. I got the daily special which was a really nice monkfish dish and a green salad. The salad was quite boring - the vinaigrette didn't have much taste, but the monk fish was really good. Everyone really enjoyed their meal and the service was great. My 2 complaints: It was a Tuesday night and we had a reservation for 7 people. I was the first to arrive and the very friendly hostess showed me to our seat - right beside the kitchen door in a very empty restaurant. I requested a table that wasn't right beside the kitchen and she told me that this was the only table that could accommodate 7 people. There were several tables that could've easily been pushed together but I decided not to push it. As it turned out it wasn't an issue, but I was surprised. The other complaint is that they only have French wines. I know it's a french restaurant, but I would expect a broader list.

My Croquet Madame sandwich was OK but nothing special. My wife's steak was good but small for $15. They don't skimp on fries though. The creme brulle was very dense and burned on top but fairly good. I might give it another try but I'm in no rush to go back.

We came here for a date night. The inside is very clean chic open and airy. Small tables outside also if you like The service: Perfect 10/10. Our waitress was friendly but genuine and gave us brilliant advice The food: really tasty we got onion soup- traditional and delicious (hot as all hell so leave it a minute) and a flat bread. we both got delicious steak for main course and were nicely full after that so we skipped desert. would 100% go back!

Stopped by this place early afternoon for Sunday brunch. Ordered "omelette du jour", basically a vegetarian omelette filled with mushrooms and spinach. The omelette was not any different than other place(s) in town, not mention the potatoes on the side was cold and dry. I had to wait forever and ask them twice to get my coffee..... Location is convenient (N Hills area) with plenty of parking spaces, but that's just about the only positive about this location. Atmosphere/vibe is decent, but not worth the hype (at least for brunch).

I came here for the triangle restaurant week and they had a great lunch special for $15. Out of the pre-fixed menu I chose the Bourride (fish stew) I was pleasantly surprised to see how much fish was actually in it! For my main course I got the Choucroute Garnie Sandwich, which was simple but still filling with nice flavor. The creme brulee was delicious and light. My friends got the torte which had a tiramisu-esque taste but was still equally as great! Overall, it was a great experience and our waiter was really nice and attentive. It was my first time here and I will definitely be coming back :)

I came here with my mom on a Friday night for an early dinner and I was surprised with how empty it was. Even when we left around 6:30, a majority of the tables were unoccupied. So it was lacking in atmosphere, but our waiter was nice and our food came out quickly. I ordered the Le Coquette Burger, which is topped with brie, caramelized onions, sunny side up egg, and bacon on a croissant bun. I'm not convinced that a burger on a croissant qualifies as French cuisine, but it was definitely tasty! The burger was juicy and cooked perfectly. However, the croissant does not do much to soak up the juice or hold the whole burger together, making it pretty messy. I would not recommend this as good "date food," unless you don't mind your date looking at you with burger juices and egg dripping down your chin. I wasn't a big fan of the fries that came with the burger and ended up not eating most of them. They were thinly cut and there was nothing really special about them. Overall it was a good experience. If half stars were possible, I would give it 3.5/5. While the food was a solid 4 stars, it was not a lively atmosphere and it isn't a place that I would put at the top of my "regular" restaurants. It is just barely above average for me.

    Came here for brunch on a Saturday when some girl friends were in town. Really loved the atmosphere and the service was great! I did find the food portions to be a bit off though. I got the seafood crepe which was good, but left me still hungry. One of my friends got the quiche of the day which was delicious and more food than one person could eat and my other friend got a sandwich which she enjoyed and was the perfect size. We also ordered a side of truffle tries which were fab and they serve yummy bread before you get your meal. I would come back here, but definitely make sure the meal I am ordering is filling - that was very disappointing :{

I have been here for lunch, service is better during the day. It wasn't busy but we waited a bit for the waiter, my husband had the coq au vin, it was very good, I had the red snapper and wish I hadn't, it was fishy and dry, wouldn't order it again. The escargot was tasty and served bubbly hot. I do enjoy the atmosphere here so I'll probably be back.

I love Coquette! Classic, well executed French food with very high quality, fresh ingredients. This review is specifically for a family wedding that I recently attended as daughter of the bride. The waitstaff did a top notch job, synchronizing the service and all of the dishes were served were perfectly executed and absolutely delicious. Whitney was the manager that we worked with to set up the event, and she is as lovely as can be and did a wonderful job pulling together all of the details, providing advice on timing, services, etc.; however, unfortunately she was not able to attend the event. The manager on duty did an exceptionally poor job of managing the event, didn't introduce herself to the bride/groom, no congratulations or enthusiasm for the big day. When I arrived, the event space was very warm and I asked over 5 times throughout the event to cool down the event dining room. Rather, all of the windows were open in the restaurant and we were not able to cool the room. The end result was that the bride overheated and the icing melted off of the cake (completely unacceptable). Overall the event was beautiful and the event space, despite problems with overheating, was intimate and lovely for a small wedding party.

I'd say this is a legit spot to go with a date! Came here on a weekend and was so pleased with the food, dimly lit/cozy atmosphere, and professional service! The crowd is a bit older- but probably because the entrees run at about $20-30. Honestly, worth every dollar! Definitely treat yourself to a drink here. My drink, the black rose, was fruity but still strong, whooo~ I ordered a seafood crepe which was so rich and creamy. I don't like to repeat meals but I just might have to next time I'm here because it was that good!!! The truffle fries were a slight disappointment. I was expecting them to be more "truffly" since they weren't very cheap... Regardless, the fries themselves were crisp and delightful. Our server was on point despite the crowd. She knew everything on the menu full well. A top pick out of all the restaurants north hills has to offer!

Inquired about the oysters. Waiter: "I think they are $14 for 1/2 dozen". Fine, I decide on mussels. Later, ask waiter to add in a 1/2 dozen oysters order. The oysters come out and they are filthy on the outside, as in covered and dripping with dark green bottom-of-the-ocean gunk. Some of the gunk is dripping from the outside of the shell back into the oyster itself. Oysters should be washed before shucking!!! Basic stuff!!! I mentionned it to the waiter. "Sorry about that". He brought me a dish with one of those fancy rolled wet, hot towels with a lemon on top. I unfold it to clean my hands of the oyster gunk, and in the inside the towel is just straight nasty, brown spots everywhere. Like an unwashed dirt rag. Oh and it turns out the oysters came out to $18. Despicable! The mussels were tasty, yay.

We tried Coquettes this past Sunday for brunch as a group of 14. Dining in a large group can present some challenges but none of those were seen here. Our waitress (Charlie) did an amazing job. Drink orders were taken and promptly delivered, correctly. We were served several baskets of bread with their salted butter. (I would make this my meal if it wasn't frowned upon). Our meals were delivered as ordered, to the correct person, and all at the same time which is a feat in itself. Nothing bad can be said about the service. What I can gripe about is the food. I chose the Grilled Tuna Nicoise salad trying to be good. The tuna was a good size and severed to temp and the anchovies were very fresh. It just didn't wow me and I didnt care for the lettuce. My husband and another diner complained their poached eggs were overdone and another commented that their frites were bland. I think the winner of the group were those who ordered the Quiches. I think it's also safe to say everyone enjoyed their $2 mimosas :). Judging from other reviews it looks like Coquettes would be better for dinner and I can second Ozge U. and say I didn't find anything very special with the food either. Service and atmosphere was top notch though and I might try them for dinner if I could pry my husband away from Vin Rouge.

An admittedly biased review, because I have fallen in love with this place. On a friend's recommendation, this was the first restaurant I visited in Raleigh after nearly 10 years away, and three visits later - one lunch, one dinner, one takeout - it may be my favorite spot in town. Why? A few reasons: 1. They let you order off the menu, as long as you're reasonable. Want something from the lunch menu at dinner or vice versa? No problem. 2. Champagne cocktails that are simple and delicious. They make their own cassis, so try the Kir Royale. Also, I just ordered one while typing this review and heard a bottle poppin', which means that they're also fresh. 2b. An impressive wine and beer list, as well. 3. Their chicken paillard. It's better than some I've had in France. 4. Super yummy bread with lunch, dinner or takeout. Without even having to ask for it. 5. Almost everything on the menu looks delicious. It's varied, which is great, while also somewhat limited, which indicates that the chef truly cares about the dishes. TRY THIS BAD BOY. I think you'll not be disappointed.

My co worker and I dined here for a quick dinner after work! The Creole Bouillabaisse was fantastic. It was nice and light and perfect for a later evening dinner! The seafood was fresh and full of flavor. The servers were great and knowledgable - and the ambiance was great with the open air seating option! #hancockhelping - we'd be back for sure!

Came here for a lackluster brunch. I really wanted to like this place. There was a long wait so we sat at the bar. Our food was pretty bland and I didn't care for it. I'm pretty sure the guy next to me thought the same thing cause he kept reaching across me for the salt!!! They do have $2 mimosas tho! I suppose that's what they have going for them on the weekends.

Having been raised on French food I am very picky about French dishes. Coquette does not disappoint. Not only are the dishes well prepared but the restaurant is just plain beautiful. I am partial to the Tarte Flambe, , the Coq au vin or Beef Bourgignon, Mussels and Frites and the last time I was there the wonderful clafoutis-blueberry and lemon. Any of the soups de jour are wonderful- I could make a meal off the bread alone! I'm in love!!

I have been to Coquette once for dinner in my pre-yelp days and remember it being very enjoyable and the food being very delicious. My most recent visit was for Brunch on Sunday and we arrived promptly when they opened and were seated in the open and airy dining room. There is a nice long bar showcasing French wines and you can either sit in the dining room or even at the bar. I love the black and white floors and they are very reminiscent of the decor in a cafe in Europe. The waiter was very friendly and brought out fresh baguette bread and a delicious homemade bread with sunflower seats. Fresh butter accompanied the bread and it was a perfect start. I ordered the Omelette Lorraine and it was a sizable omelette with bacon, Gruyere cheese and ham. The omelette was served with oven-roasted potatoes and very tasty. The menu also had sandwich options and the prices are great at around $10-$15 an entree.

Oui, oui, Monsieur! I've always wanted to try this spot and I finally got to yesterday for a work lunch. I tried the Croque Madame sandwich and les frites (GUILTY: I asked to subsitute the salad for fries....I know. I know. I know.) Scrumptiously delicious. Pretty, warm, cozy atmosphere. Great service. We were a party of 8, but our food came quickly and efficiently. Aside from the fact that North Hills is an annoying place to park, overly busy during the holiday season, and appears to have a lot of chains, Coquette is a gem that defies the North Hills prototype/stereotype/typical venue. When can we go again? Allons-y!

Picture It. Calm spring night, breeze blowing through the restaurant's open veranda, a wine carafe and a classic selection of French cuisine. While I don't necessarily venture to Coquette for the food, the atmosphere is one of the best in Raleigh. The wine selection is impeccable, and the quality of your meal is always consistent. I highly recommend the Viognier , as well as the Duck.

This place was delicious! Incredibly spacious and pretty inside, it would be a great restaurant for a big brunch get together. We just had the two of us, our 3-year-old and our two dogs, so we opted for one of the two little tables available outside. Our waitress was fantastic, went above and beyond. We got the quiche lorraine, which was a towering piece of jiggly-ness. Thought for sure there was no way such a large piece could be good, but wow. It was amazing. The croque madame was delicious but felt like it was missing something - couldn't quite put my finger on it. And their pancakes were awesome, a hint of lemon I think. All in all, we will definitely be back.

Flirting begins Inside! Charming! Why does this place remind me of Amelie (the Film)! Not the Cafe (Two Windmills [Café des Deux Moulins] where she worked and I did not think this place was quirky, though much more Casual and Fun than I imagined! Romantic? Oui!!! I know very little about French Language or Food! Burger ! Whoa! So glad my eBay Bride ordered a Medium Rare Burger on a Croissant and they brought what I would consider a Perfekt RARE Burger! We enjoyed this Very Much! 5 yelp stars ! Hanger Steak Sandwich was Good 3 yelp stars, A-OK Good, wish I would have ordered the Burger too!!! My Sandwich was exaktly as I ordered (Even Rarest Steak they had), easy to eat except the flavor of the Beef! Disappointing! The Bread, Caramelized Onions and Cheese made it better, though the meat itself should have been Much better! Fries 4 yelp stars at least! Thin and Limp, though I might have enjoyed them a little more if they were a little more crisp, I canNOT say for sure since most of my favorite fries are of the light and limp variety! Surprised to learn my Bride enjoyed these as much as I ! We usually have Very different ideas of what makes fries GREAT or Very Good! These make my "Lonely Fries" yelp list with ease! Dessert Menu was Very Tempting, flirting continues!

This is probably the most french food I have had since my visit to Corsica as a child. The staff is friendly and willing to oblige most reasonable requests. The crepes are what I ordered. They came with a peach and bacon jam, which was delicious. I also ordered a side of fries that were nice and crispy. I hate soggy fries like vampires hate the sun, so I was happy with them. The coffee is served with real milk and the sugar is provided in Demura sugar cubes. The bread is made in house. If you are a fan of French cuisine this is the brunch place for you. I would not recommend bringing children. This is an upscale brunch place, not a Denny's. There are no children's menus and no coloring papers.

We stopped in this morning (Saturday) hopeful for brunch. Totally had to change gears when our waitress came up and we asked about the brunch menu and we were told that brunch is only served on Sunday's but they get asked that very often and it's an easy mistake. Hang with me here - if a lot of people are coming in asking about the weekend brunch and show interest, maybe offer brunch on both Saturday and Sunday?! Anyway - onto the food review. I had the turkey baguette which was sort of on the verge of being bland. It was ok and I would try something different if we went back. The bread served prior to the meal was good but as I was sitting there noming on the bread I thought to myself "self, you're about to eat a baguette and a side of fries. Stop eating this delicious bread immediately." So needless to say, I was kind of getting full by the time I got my sandwich. The atmosphere is nice but felt awkward at times as all of the wait staff were standing in the back carrying on conversations near our seat, so it sort of lacked the charm I was hoping for.

The appetizers were amazing. My friend said the cocktail was also very good. However, the entrees are really not exciting at all. Everything was "meh" and not well seasoned. BTW the dishes ordered were the beef bourguignon, the gnocchi (how can they do this with flour instead of potato????) and another one that I don't remember. I believe the restaurant needs to review the entrees as it's not matching the quality of the appetizers.

Ordered some burgers for takeout and they were ready 15 minutes later at the bar. The Coquette hamburger didn't dissapoint and it was awesome with a very generous helping of fries. I really want to come back and try the rest of the stuff on the menu because the burger was amazing. If its your first time you cant go wrong with it. Really cool restaurant and theres free parking in the mall parking lot although during the holidays it will get increasingly touch to navigate.

It wasn't very busy on this Saturday morning and we came here for brunch only to find out that's Sunday only! We had to quickly adjust our taste buds! The beef bourguignon was good but the turkey baguette was better, in my opinion. It was creamy, the sauce and noodles were good, meat was tender. Excellent choice if you aren't in the mood for a sandwich.

I will start by saying we are habitual brunchers. Every Sunday, come hell or high water, we gather, we eat, we sip mimosas. We started coming to Coquette because of the bottomless mimosa special (may that RIP), but keep returning for the excellent food and the consistently good service. Every time we have had a group of 10 or more, they have been accommodating in handling our reservations, assembling our table and handling our party, which can be quite the task as we flip-flop our orders from the steak frites to the quiche Lorraine, all while speaking in horrible French accents. Bless those servers. The mimosas are now $2. The food is all very reasonably priced. The atmosphere is wonderful. Go.

I love coming here for lunch or dinner. It's always a promised great meal. I have been coming here ever since my friends introduced me to it for my birthday dinner. OMG it was love at first bite. I first ordered the foie gras which was simply amazing. Like butter. I highly recommend trying this. I followed with the steak frites (filet of course) which I can't even begin to explain how amazing it tastes. I got it with the bordelaise sauce and I'll never be able to change.

Saw the good reviews so had dinner here. We ordered: Coq Au Vin Beef Bourguignon Coquette Burger Crème Brulee All the dishes were excellent! We also loved the Black Rose cocktail. Too bad none of us live here or we'd be back often :)

Came here for the first time this past Sunday for a girls brunch and had a great time. VERY glad we had a reservation as the place was packed! Our server, JB, was awesome and totally made the experience. He was very personable, helpful, and attentive. The food was excellent (I had the French toast) and the $2 mimosas were pretty good as well. We did all order cocktails after and they definitely don't skimp on the alcohol which is appreciated. Nothing worse than paying $8+ for a glass of juice. Overall, I would come back here again for another brunch or to try out their other menus.

Previously had wonderful meal here but this time I was very disappointed. The service was good the salad was good as well as the desert but the Beef Bourguignon was tasteless. It was as if they had left out a key ingredient. I liked it so much in the past that I will try one more time, but for this visit I would give it only a two star rating.

I cannot rave about this place enough! The ambience is beautiful, the service is always fantastic, and the food is to die for! The fries, bread, croque Monsieur/madam, quiches, and oh their COFFEE! So so so amazing, one of my favorite places in the area.

I discovered this restaurant about 6 months ago. I have eaten here at least 6-7 times and every time it has been absolutely delicious. The lunch sizes are perfect and. Very reasonably priced. The food is fresh and delicious. My favorite is the lunch salmon and the gnocchi with the cranberries. So delicious. I haven't been there yet for dinner but lunch is 5 stars for sure!!!!!

Why aren't their more French restaurants in Raleigh? Seriously, we need less Ale Houses and more classy bistro dining. But, I'll settle for the two I know about and what they do, they do well. Coquette, which I can only spell with the help of google, is an unexpected spot tucked into the corner of North Hills. The ambience will surprise you. It actually pulls off a Parisian flare without being tacky. Well done. What I don't like is that it's generally very loud in there and it's extremely difficult to hear anything the person 3 inches from you is saying. Food... Being a gluten-free gal, the menu doesn't offer a ton of choices, but if you invite me to eat there, my mind will instantly think back to their duck breast dish. Prepared to perfection. Sold. Can we go now? Brunch...mehh, mom and I were less than impressed. They were trying too hard and the selection just wasn't there. Bevies... well, I ordered a glass of chard this past go round and it was probably the worst glass of chardonnay I've had since the NC Wine Festival at Koka Booth. NC Winemakers have no business making chardonnay. I should have known better. Anyway, I digress. I'll try something else next time. The pinot noir I tried was much better, but didn't wow. All, in all. Probably my favorite spot in North Hills. You really can't go wrong....well, as long as they keep my duck dish on the menu. Hint hint.

Love this place. The atmosphere is comfortable & inviting, kind-of resembling a large French bistro; good for casual & dressy outings. Service is always exceptional. Great wine list. Love the beet salad & the quiche is the best, fluffiest I've ever eaten. Seriously, I have no idea what they do to it, but it's worth going just for the quiche! Perhaps not the ideal place to go often for the exceptionally health conscious (of course, there's always the beat salad!); lots of butter & meat fats done up in decadent euro fashion, but your tummy will thank you for the indulgence. Always a pleasant experience & treat!

This place is serious French cooking! We lived five years in France, and the ambience is "bonne" et le cadre is "agreable". (Oh well, we've been speaking Franglais all our lives!) The generic Merlot by the glass was well above average, people tried snails and frog's legs for the first time, and everything no matter how "unusual" was great - don't worry, it will taste fantastic no matter what you order! (Except the burger - that's good, but just a burger. If you want a burger, go to a burger joint, you Bohemian!) Pour le chef: boeuf bourguinion, normalement avec des carottes?! Mais c'etais bon...

I was at Coquette for brunch. I like the environment a lot. I deal for large group meals. They have a large back area where they host groups. Food was really good. They serve a variety of bread before the brunch starts and it was really delicious. I didn't find anything very special with the food, but internal design is really cool. We were at the back area with friends and they one of the walls was filled up with mirrors with really cool frames. I was amazed by decoration.

Bland, pre-made and over priced. As you will find and as our server admitted, most items are pre-made for their brunch sitting... Which I am sure happens in all their sittings. I ordered the steak eggs Benedict. The steak was cold, the poached eggs over cooked. It literally was cold steak with a poached egg and over salted bearnaise sauce. No tomato or onion. Just salt overlooked and cold. The potatoes it came with were exactly the same. The drinks were remade sugar syrups with a touch of alcohol. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME GOING HERE WITH SO MANY OPTIONS IN RALEIGH!! I will relish the day people write honest reviews based on the execution of the food and spirits as opposed to the setting or time they had with their friends. Yes the outdoor setting and location is great but the food and drink are poor at best.

For me, this place is a 3.5*. For my wife, this is 4*. So, a four it is. If you're female, this place will automatically hold more charm for you. It has the atmosphere you're looking for. The service is attentive. The beer list is short, but decent. I had a very nice belgian on the day I was there. My wife really enjoyed the steak tartare. It was a small portion, but just right for her needs. I received a generous portion of quiche with a fresh, green side salad. Very good. Portions are small on most things. I'm still not wowed, but my wife has informed me we'll be going back the next time we're near North Hills.

Tasteful food, excellent service, casual ambiance, and amazing prices. What more could you ask for? A few friends and I went to brunch here. I split two entrees with a friend - we got the Croquet Madame and the Spinach Quiche. Words cannot describe either. I kid you not. The quiche was so light, fluffy and delicious. It was like eating a cloud of cheese, butter, and spinach. I've been to restaurants costing twice as much and more often then not think of something to adjust in the dish I am devouring. Here, there is nothing to suggest for a change. And you can't go wrong with the Croquet Madame. Surprisingly filling and heavy for a sandwich, it itself is a masterpiece of balancing so many flavors textures. And the frites were on point (suggestion, dip.. no dunk your fries into the sauce the sandwich comes in). And to top it off, cheap mimosas and excellent bloody mary's round out a meal that was surprisingly inexpensive considering the quality of the food and service. Give it a shot, and you'll soon find yourself a regular. Just like I plan to be each time I return to Raleigh.

Made a reservation for Sunday brunch, which I recommend and were seated right away. $7 Mimosas which you can't complain about. Sure there was a lot of OJ and little Champagne but we never had to ask our waitress for refill she always had it before we could even think of ordering. The monte cristo was very amazing. I had not had one in a long time so was super excited when I saw it. Very very good!!!

I came here the day after Halloween to enjoy a nice brunch with two of my buddies. I'm so glad this place is open all day, because we all woke up around 2pm and there is no other breakfast/brunch place open past 2:30pm! Excellent business hours aside, the food here is fantastic. We ordered from their midday menu, which includes appetizers, hors d'oeuvres, charcuterie, quiches, sammiches, beers, and cocktails. So we ordered what any self-respecting group of graduate students would order: drinks. Oh, and food. We got a charcuterie to share and one of each quiche. If you're getting drinks, definitely get a le fleur if you haven't had one before. It's a mimosa with a shot of St Germain. I know, right? Makes you wonder why mimosa is even a thing... The charcuterie board is pretty standard and comes with 3 of each of the following: cheeses, sauces, and meats. Each one was really flavorful. I just wish they served it with some thin toasts. It's a little weird eating triple cream brie and terrine on fresh bread. A word of warning to those dining with vegans- only the mustard sauce, jam, and baby pickles are vegan. The third sauce is honey. The quiches are amazing! If we knew they were going to be that large I think we would have skipped the charcuterie. Each slice was wide, tall, and jiggled a little when our server set them on the table. It looks like they cook the quiches very gently before torching them on the top, which gives them a nice airy texture while still having that umami look. Unfortunately that means that the other ingredients tend to settle at the bottom, but if you slice your fork in from the top to the bottom like a normal person, the heterogeneity is going to be lost in your chewing. You're going to love it. My friend finished the whole thing, and she never eats more than an appetizer most days. Very impressed.

Got into Coquette a little after 6pm on a Wednesday and it was pretty dead. I had some colleaugues from work and was concerned I brought them to the wrong place. I asked the hostess if it was always this slow and she said it usually picks up around 7. It did, the place was pretty full by the time we left around 8. The crowd is a little older than what I am used too. Must be North Hills. I think the woman across from me was asleep, sitting up. The food was good. Not a huge fan of the potato Croquettes but the trout was excellent and the hanger steak my colleagues ordered look very good also.

French style for sure. Entree portions were small-medium and I left a bit hungry after my Lamb shank... more bone than meat. Can't really complain as I was with a group and we had our meals paid for, but if I returned to POPocket I would have been dismayed as that entree was $26 and really not worth the $ to me. Wine by the glass starts at $8 which is reasonable. Service was prompt and very good. Our servers were attentive enough. Atmosphere was bustling and a bit noisy, not too good for a business meeting where conversation is important.

We had a gift certificate to the Urban Food Group, and decided on Coquette as our choice for a much needed date night. I made reservations, and we were seated within 5 minutes of being there. It was a busy Saturday night, with gorgeous weather, and we scored a nice 2 top next to the window, which was open, which made for a very nice setting. I really like the feel of the place, but not sure if I would have been happy sitting at one of the table against the back wall, as they do not have the same open feel as the front part of the restaurant. Our waiter came and was very nice, and explained some specials that were very French, and my husband and I just weren't following (we are not very versed in French food...at all). We both ordered a cocktail, and I got a salad as an app, and Jeff ordered the filet with bearnaise sauce and fries, and I got the same, but I got the hanger steak. Our cocktails came out fast, and were delish. I got a champagne cocktail that had gin and apricot syrup and champagne - so yummy! Jeff got a Rye Collins, which involved whiskey and sour, and he loved it (smelled so strong to me). My salad also came out fast - endive, poached egg, bacon, croutons, cider mustard dressing. If this came in a large portion, I could have eaten this for my meal. It was so wonderful. I don't love bacon (gasp), but this was GOOD bacon. It was more like pork belly I guess. Our steaks also came out relatively fast, and we both ordered a glass of red to go with dinner. I ordered the Bordeaux, and although it was $10 a glass, it was worth it. It was really good. I was disappointed with the presentation of both of our meals. The steaks were drenched with sauce, and bearnaise is really rich. Also, my steak (hanger) was sliced for me, but not in nice even slices...it looked butchered. And then the fries....although they were good, there was so many of them and they were just thrown on the plate with no care whatsoever. It just didn't feel like the chef cared about this plate of food at all. The flavor was good, but again, way too much sauce overpowering the steak. Jeff agreed that the sauce was too much, but he also enjoyed the flavor of his filet. We had a lovely evening here, and did enjoy our meals and drinks. I am teetering on 3 and 4 stars, but I just feel for the price of the main course, the presentation could have been better, so I am giving 3 stars. We will go back, and I recommend this place for sure.

My wife and I love this restaurant. Having a toddler has prevented us from visiting as much as we would like, but over the last 5 years we have dined here close to 25 times. The food has always been fantastic. We went 2 times just in the past week, and I decided to try the Zucchini Charlotte, it was phenomenal! A few times our service hasn't been as spot on phenomenal (waited close to 5 minutes after being seated for water/bread), but overall we are happy and will continue to offer this restaurant our patronage.

Only been here once. Almost twice, but it was packed on a Sunday and there was no way, no how I was eating without a reservation ahead of time. Guess everyone knows it's the place to eat. The one time I had been there I had their steak sandwich. Holy smoke! That's all I have to say about that. Get it, thank me later. My wife had the quiche. Three words: Big and good. Great ambiance here. Great food. Worth it. Can't wait to get back here.

I thought this restaurant was considered serious dining? Glacial service, along with ersatz french cooking left a sour taste in my mouth. The beef bourguignon was a very poor excuse for french bistro cooking, 2 measely pieces of grisly beef with undercooked pasta parading as egg noodles, swiming in a sea of pearl onions. I'd be ashamed that plate left my kitchen. I wasn't impressed in the least and won't waste my time again.

Love the space! Disappointed by the food. I expected a more French bistro menu. Only the dish names were French; otherwise, it seemed pretty American to me. Staff was friendly and attentive. Thank God that had sound baffling on the ceiling because otherwise the restaurant would have been deafening!

Something has changed! We are regular guests and always liked Coquette but yesterday the aioli was completely tasteless and so was the quiche of the day, it was like a big wedge of jelly. We pointed it out but had no response.

There are few restaurants in Raleigh that serve brunch. I was lucky to find one that not only served Sunday brunch, but also serves great food and fresh orange juice. I highly recommend the Quiche Lorraine. The eggs Benedict was not that great, the eggs and Hollandaise sauce was placed on top of regular toast. The egg and sauce fell right off of the toast while I was attempting to consume it.

Well first off let me just say if your going to eat here everyday you've got to be filthy rich WOW. The food was impressive though " secretive " and skimpy. i use secretive because the item I ordered was a lorraine sandwich that supposedly came with a side salad? However when it arrived it was open faced which wasnt bad. inventive enough that it reminded me of a new take on a chicken cordon blue. the side salad you ask? that is pretty much what i'd like to know also. the meal itself was presented with a side of leafy green garnish that had no obvious dressing to it and appeared to be decor. The waiter was rather stuck up towards me because I wasnt dressed like Fred on "Scooby Doo". Though for allergies they are very sensitive and accommodating ; so much so that the chef himself came out & asked if everything turned out well. My other cautionary point would be very careful of fried items here as I discovered they dont tend to use seperate deep fryers & also dont clean their oil. As they clearly cross-contaminated the croquette's I had ordered. how? well I ordered a potato / chive croquette the fried part tasted exactly like fried chicken. There fore I believe these people need to visit a health inspector. Restaurant setting wise ? it was very " Euro " style seating and interesting how they have 1/2 their restaurant split for seating in for lunch the other dinning room seating. EITHER that or they just practice " social class " segregation & discrimination. with no parking and snobbish wait staff, yeah Im never going here again.

Words can not describe the awesomeness of this restaurant; the food was absolutely amazing, the decor is beautiful, our waitress and the rest of the staff kicked ass and the prices for the large portions you get were perfect. The only tiny cons I had was the escargot had a slight "I have been frozen one too many times" aftertaste and it got to be a tad on the warm side in the restaurant towards the end of the meal, but I can't really hold that against them. All in all it was amazing, best french meal my boyfriend had outside of France, my mum practically had to tackle my father so he wouldn't hug the manager when we left.

What a wonderful restaurant. I was here last Wed with my daughter and her family. The flounder was exquisite and beautifully presented. Appetizers, French onion soup and cocktails were also excellent. The weather was beautiful that day and we thoroughly enjoyed eating with the open concept, feeling the fresh breeze and gazing at the beautiful flowers in foreground. To top it all off, our server was impeccable. We look forward to visiting this brasserie again!

Fantastic French restaurant! It lives up to the hype without a doubt. The chef de cuisine is an accomplished chef with an abundance of fresh ideas that always surprise and surpass my expectations. The service is extraordinary and I always look forward to my visit. Put Coquette at the top of your dining list. You won't be disappointed!

Oh my wow. My bookclub hosted a gathering of 14 there last night. The service was impeccable, unobtrusive, but seemingly always appeared when needed. The appetizers shared across the table were delicious. Specifically the pate, fromage, and ratatouille. The entree's were spectacular as well. Between us all we favored the braised short ribs, duck breast confit, and cassoulet. The coq au vin was definitely up to par as well. The desserts were all incredible. The chocolate bombe and the cassis sorbet were the perfect cap to what I can only describe as one of the Top Ten best meals of my life. Try it, you will not be disappointed.

We've eaten here at least three times for lunch, dinner, and a Sunday brunch. Service was excellent each time. This is not a high end dressy French restaurant which is great for just casual lunch or a nice dinner for two. The onion soup is my favorite starter which can be split into two if you want to share. We had the petite tarte flambée, gnocchi, and beef bourguignon and all were good. Last Sunday brunch they were offering bottomless mimosas for $10 which is okay unless you plan on downing many glasses of it. Would recommend making dinner reservations, it was pretty busy on the Friday evening that we went and there was a private party going on as well. Overall, the food, service and ambiance are good so I'm always looking forward to going back again.

Great food. Great service. Great ambiance. We came for lunch and ordered a variety of dishes including the salad, the croquettes, quiche, and ratatouille. The food was filling and delicious. I'm not from here and when the options are a chain restaurant or Coquette, I'd be happy to go to Coquette again.

For some reason, I had it in my head that this was going to be just like La Farm (maybe because they are two French restaurants that both have stellar Yelp-utations). In any case, I was surprised to step into a dimly lit romantic restaurant (especially post-Western movie with a group of 4 pals expecting more of a cafe environment!). But we did not let the scene --or prices-- deter us. I had a mere sampling of what they have to offer, but was really pleased with everything I tried. That included the escargots (6 plump ones), truffle frites (where the truffle oil is actually evident), and French onion soup (one of the better instances I've had in a while -- though we agreed it benefited from a little salt). Our waitress was tops: I never saw my water glass dip below half full. And she even put up with our wily conversation on topics such as peeing in the oven (yeah, don't ask). Expect me to be back for brunch and a full dinner sometime!

On beautiful spring days in April and May, do not pass up the chance to enjoy this gem in the North Hills Mall area. Coquette is a great restaurant to enjoy brunch, lunch, or a nice dinner. During brunch and lunchtime, the place maintains a laidback café feel that lends itself to enjoying a great cup of coffee and conversation by the open windows. At night, the ambience takes on a stylish/romantic feel that is perfect for date night or a fancy girls-night-out. I stopped by for lunch this afternoon and enjoyed my "go to" item on the menu. The steak sandwich is my absolute favorite dish for lunch, and it comes with a generous portion of their delectable fries. After lunch, I sat and enjoyed a strong cup of coffee (I also recommend their espressos!). As always, the food and service was superb. Over the last year, we have returned to Coquette for nice dinners, late night dessert, and drinks after an evening movie. It is (for me) a no-brainer and guaranteed great choice in the mall.

Coquette comes dangerously close to being another overrated strip mall restaurant from the outside, but they do a surprisingly good job. The only thing keeping this from being five stars was a bit of a lack of creativity in the menu. They had all of the staple items, and my steak and frites last time were done well, but I would say that it's more of a "comfort food" menu and less of a culinary experience. But what they do, they do well, and it seemed to be a very "hip" spot on the weekend to see and be seen.

I worked for a month to pick a date and time that worked for a group of 7 to celebrate a milestone birthday, for someone who never celebrates birthdays anymore. Well Coquette decided a few weeks before that they wanted to book a private party in the restaurant and canceled all reservations. They have their priorities and it is not the everyday patrons. They helped organizing one event by ruining another. Makes me think of Seinfeld at the rental car agency, they can take the reservations, but they can't hold the reservations. Plan for somewhere else, they are unreliable, especially if you want something to be special.

My boyfriend and I went for his birthday dinner upon his suggestion. I have to say the ambiance was great I felt like I was stepping back in time. We sat at the bar while we waited for our table (they were busy on a friday night) and then took our drinks to the table. Everything was delicious we ordered the Truffled Pom Frittes and the Salmon. Any place that uses wild caught Salmon gets an A+ in my book. The only thing was our waiter disappeared for like 30 minutes when it came time for the check. Will I be back?! You can bet on it!

Not great, went here for brunch. Chef and server had no idea what kind of quiche they were serving. The place was full of flies.

Not only was I impressed, but I was actually transformed back in time to when I used to cook at my Father's restaurant, making french onion soup! This has got to be the "Creme Brulee" of all french eatries for Raleigh! This town has got some really great places to eat, shop, frolic or what not. Boy has Raleigh come a long way from when I first moved here some 20 years ago! The place is reminiscent of the French Bistros, I see in the movies! All the way down to the brass ,black and white tiled floor and the whole design/feel of the place. The service was great, very attentive too.. Taking advantage of going during Triangle Restaurant Week was a good choice. Good servings and choices. Thanks Kathy, you rock! VALENTINE'S DAY REVIEW! Wow! To the hilt last night! Frisee' Salad, Saphron Risotto, Petite Fillet Mignon, and a scrumptious chocolate desert...All to die for! Complete with chocolate covered strawberries, a glass of champagne and Bailey's Jewelry promo box! Sweetness all around! EAT, PRAY, LOVE movie experiment #4!!!

Writing this review makes me so sad. Actually, I was so depressed about how horrible the experience was, that I went back a week later, much to no avail. I am not sure if the management has changed recently, but I normally sit at the bar and receive great experience. The past two times... ghastly. A group of friends and I went to Coquette on April 1 for a birthday brunch celebration. We had a table of 9, and were looking forward to the $10 unlimited mimosas (Oh yeah, you read that correctly), and a fabulous brunch! Our server's name was Phil, and in the beginning, he was really funny, a bit sassy but a waiter can pull off sassy if he is a great waiter; however, this quickly turned to perceived arrogance and a lack of concern about our table at all. First... he lost our order. He said he laid down the paper, and it just disappeared, so after looking for it for a while, he came back, and we had to resubmit our orders again. Next, out of 9 of us, only 4 orders came out correctly. 5 people had to send their orders back b/c they were wrong. Ham on the vegetarian's plate, omletes, when they order quiche; it was just bad. The kitchen and food runners can only be blamed for so much. I'd say the errors came from the data entry of poor Phil, or maybe he lost the paper again and had to guess what we ordered. One of my favorite moments, was watching the managers stand at the wine rack, right behind our table, looking out over the floor to see what tables are opening up, and they never came by to apologize for the food errors. Meanwhile, people did not have silverware to eat with, water or mimosas were never refilled and Phil is lucky the two servers next to him took such good care of us after we basically tackled one for help. They really stepped up and pre-bused our table, refilled our water and tried to help him as much as possible. At the end of the meal, our bill was still charged for the added gratutity for large parties (REALLY!! you guys know I am former restaurant server/bartender and manager... he had the nerve to screw up a birthday party and still grat us 18%???, ballsy... that's all I can say....). But, the bills were wrong. He went back at least 5 times b/c he split the checks incorrectly. The last time he came by the table, he said it was his first day and apologized for the orders and the check issues. SO.. .I am going to believe that this was his first day, and for that... I say "Shame on you, Coquette Management."... The managers really scheduled a new guy for a brunch shift?? A table with 5 out of 9 food errors should have brought the attention of the management. Management should have come by the table, and then, they should have kept an eye on him, helped him pre-bus, manage his checks, and overall, ensure the guest have a great experience. Notice, I said nothing about getting food comp'd. I have no issue paying for food, and I am not complaining to receive a free meal, but a restaurant manager's job is to ensure that the guests are happy, to support staff and ensure that the shift runs smoothly. Major FAIL to the managers, even if this WASN'T his first day. Since I love this place so much, I went back on 04/06 for lunch with a friend. We sat in the bar, at a little table near the window. Poor service. Our waters were not refilled, we did not get offered a second glass of wine or dessert. I agree with everyone else. Food is normally very good. The ambiance is so quaint and wonderful. But, the management and staff service have really disappointed me by their lack of attention to guest service that I am not sure I can go back.

I went here on Father's day with my sweetie. I was in Paris not too long ago so I thought mmmm, let's see if I can get a blast from the past. .. I liked this restaurant. It's a sexy restaurant! Nice ambiance, sidewalk cafe seating. The wait staff was lovely and patient. they smile a lot. I LOVED THAT! It was not outrageously expensive at all. Heck I've spent more on my family in the drive through of chic-fil-A but we won't go there! So the menu was a little limited. Not a lot of choices at all, but we found something we liked. We had the Plat De Charcutererie & Fromage which is a bunch of fancy words for cheese, sausage, pate with some interesting spreads on the side. Delightfully delish! I had the Quiche and let me tell you, it was a HUGE portion and it was so light I thought it was going to float right off my plate but believe it or not, I didn't love it. The problem was it was supposed to be a vegetarian type Quiche but only the very bottom was lined with just a few veggies. I am a veggie-aholic (yep just made that up) and so, I was disappointed but I didn't hate it. The texture and flavor was still worth the experience. I am also a unsweet tea snob! There is an art to this folks trust me. Their unsweet tea was perfection! My suga-wuga had a burger, with a fried egg on a croissant. I rarely eat red meat so it was already too kinky for my taste buds but you talking about a man who once ate some deep fried Monkey in Korea okay? So he said it was.."different". You be the judge on that one. I love him but the stuff he eats..... The biggest disappointment for him was...HIS FRIES WERE COLD! Not warm even, stone cold! I dunno, cold fries are just criminal! Like play that Psycho music in the background.... point blank period. Okay so I didn't have the heart to give them a totally bad review because I liked this spot, and they deserve another chance so I'll go again. I recommended it to my sons for a cheap though impressive date night. Next time I'll sit outside and wear a flowing white off the shoulder dress and borrow someone's labradoodle to lay by my feet while the wind blows my hair gently and I eat my exotic cheese and sausage pate and sip on my unsweet tea (if I was a drinker it would be a bellini)..yeah harlequin romance or something like dat right? lmao! I'm trying to tell you...it's a sexy restaurant!

Come here if you want a real feel for French brasserie food. It's worth returning to over and over again when craving french food. I had the salmon hashee small plate which tasted delicious and just right for a light lunch. Salmon was cooked perfectly. My husband had the roasted beet salad with mache and roquefort cheese which was tasty as well. He also had the best coq au van outside of Paris. Of note, it was a white coq au van, very unique! This is only served during dinner. The restaurant has moderately priced wines with a good selection. They also offer a variety of belgium beer outside of the usual bar offerings. Service was excellent. The place has that french feel with open space and high ceilings. Bar area is sleek and clean.

I live near north hills and come here quite a bit. The dinner is pricey, so we come for $1 oysters mon-fri from 400-600 and for lunch/brunch. I recommend the truffle fries (you can ask for them of they aren't listed on the menu) and all sandwiches and quiche lunch entrees are great. I love the atmosphere! It makes me feel like I'm in Paris!

Came here for the first time for lunch and was very surprised how delicious it was. Wasn't aware that it was part of the Vivace group. Service was top notch and food was great. We had the French onion soup, beet salad and quiche Lorraine it was the best quiche i had ever had. It was probably 2,000 calories but so fluffy and tasty. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Raleigh.

I travel a fair amount throughout the year and always rely on Yelp to help me find the real foodie destinations. Most of the time, Yelp doesn't let me down, but Coquette was a sad sad exception. I probably shouldn't have even gone inside after seeing that the restaurant was connected to a cookie-cutter shopping complex and after taking around 20 minutes to find an available parking spot...but French food was sounding pretty good at the time and Coquette was already my backup restaurant (I was originally planning to make a 2 hour drive out to Chef and the Farmer in Kinston but bailed after sitting in rush hour traffic for half an hour). We started off pretty well...ambience is nice and my server was friendly. Had the gruyere/potato coquette with some kind of spicy aioli that was pretty good. Also tried the beet salad with roquefort (turns out I hate roquefort--I'm sorry, but it tastes the way horses smell...how do people love this stuff?), which was just ok. The real low point was my entree--the hangar steak (peppercorn style) was one nasty cut of meat. I ordered it medium and the middle was straight-up raw. I would've sent it back to be fixed, but the cooked portion of the meat was kind of fibrous/stringy so I knew that wouldn't have done anything. Frites that came with the steak were just basic fries--definitely had better. Overall, skip this one and make a drive to one of the nice options in Chapel Hill. Or go crazy and eat at Heron's in Cary. Now that's good food.

My boyfriend and I were going for dinner and a movie. We were in the mood for sushi, but fortunately Mura was very busy. . We walked over to Coquette while waiting to be called back for a table and decided to give it a try. The atmosphere was great, quiet enough to have a conversation and jovial enough to relax and enjoy ourselves. It's not quite a formal/dressy restaurant, but not really a t-shirt and jeans place. Service was excellent, I wish I remembered her name, a shorter white woman with longer blond hair and a friendly face. She paid us just the right amount of attention. She was helpful in suggesting wine and helped us choose entrees we were pleased with. I had the pan seared salmon over potato and parsnip puree and braised kale. Daniel had the brioche crusted flounder. We started with the beet and roquefort salad and we both enjoyed the sunflower rye bread. It was accompanied by a carafe of Cotes du Rhone. It was very nice to have a nice relaxed date night dinner before going to see a movie. We did not feel rushed and meal was well paced, without having to worry that we'd miss the movie. If you're up in north hills for dinner, I would recommend this over most of the other restaurants. .

My boyfriend and I do french food for our special romantic meals and we were looking forward to a nice french dinner in Raleigh. Coquette is a beautiful restaurant, the front reminds me of the great brasserie's I've seen in NYC (never been to Paris, so I can't compare it) and the back room is very romantic and intimate, which is exactly what we wanted for this evening. Our waiter was named Joe and was incredibly attentive, almost too much so. We got a beer and a kir royale, which boasted homemade kir (and it was yummy). I had oysters, also a tradition, with a great mignonette and remoulade (also house made). My boyfriend ordred the croquettes, and our first order came out ice cold in the center. Our waiter promptly too them away, told his manager, apologized and got use a second batch in a pretty good amount of time. He also put a hold on our entrees to make sure we had time to enjoy the croquettes, which would have been wonderful, if the croquettes weren't bland. My brioche crusted flounder was excellent and I couldn't begin to say enough about the orange and anise vinaigrette to do it justice. My boyfriend's lamb shank was perfectly tender, but again, dreadfully under-seasoned. The fingerling potatoes didn't even have a flavor, which we both found disappointing. With dinner, I had a champagne cocktail called the Coquette 75 and it was fragrant and yummy. The wine my boyfriend had with dinner was also superb. Then there was dessert, which was a religious experience. My boyfriend's peanut butter pie was so yummy, but the profiteroles...oh...the profiteroles. These pastries were the best french pastries I have ever had and the hazelnut crunch ice cream made them 100 times better than I could ever imagine. My only wish (and this is me being picky) is that the chocolate sauce had been a little more dark chocolate. An entire star was lost due to the fact that our ice cold croquettes (which were $5) were not comped. I totally understand not discounting hefty items if a customer eats the seconds due to cost, but I found this a little classless. I would love to return and give coquette another chance, I probably won't be ordering croquettes again.....but oh the profiteroles :-)

Hubbs and I set out on a path on Saturday morning for a tasty and relaxing brunch spot. We got started late by making a pit stop for our favorite coffee spot and then struck out on a path for some good eats. We went to Coquette about 6 months back for a Sunday brunch and were disappointed they'd run out of croque madame. Oh dear! However, never fear - they obviously overcame this previous shortage of madames because these were flying out of the kitchen this past weekend. Our server was friendly and attentive during our entire meal. The crusty french bread and butter that is served prior to your meal coming out is absolutely amazing. If my body was more carb friendly I would have asked for a refill. The waiter carved the loaves up fresh right behind our table, and just the sound of the crusty bed makes your mouth water! I tried the seafood crepe. The crepe is served with an orange saffron sauce which was absolutely amazing. The seafood was fresh and abundant. The crepe was fabulously priced at $8! The setting is cute and very french bistro, the perfect place for a relaxing and enjoyable weekend brunch! Bon Appetit!
