I love The Signal Grill! tThey serve the best Rueben west of the Mississippi !The last time I ate lunch there a couple of weeks ago I had to try something new so I ordered the Crab Toast! oMG! It was delicious! The also serve the best Fish and Chips I've eaten in Montana to date! I love the atmosphere ! It's elegant Montana style ! The service is always friendly and as perfect as it can get! My biggest problem is trying to figure out what to order! By far my favorite place to eat in the Bitterroot Valley!

I'm honestly sad to give this review a 1. The Signal used to be wonderful for date night; the atmosphere & decor are both inviting & you can tell before you even look at the menu the food selection is going to be gourmet. I don't want to spread misinformation, so please correct me, but I've heard either cooks were lost or there has been a change in management. The change hasn't been a good one. I ordered a salmon sandwich & my boyfriend got a burger. What disappointed me was that his burger was a smaller portion than my salmon. How does one make sense of that? I tend to be a light eater & always expect leftovers, but I could've eaten his burger & still felt hungry - yet the salmon, one of the most expensive proteins, was a serving size far more generous than beef? Also, the bun looked like generic, bottom shelf quality. I'm willing to give it another shot on account of the sudden change in quality.

Went here for dessert and drinks. The dessert was good, but not great. Paid with a credit card. When I got my credit card statement, the Signal grill had overcharged me by $27. I gave them a chance to make it right with me, but they didn't respond to my voice mail. Now I am letting my credit card company take care of it. Won't be going back to the Signal Grill.

New owner - Terry Marasco - gracious, friendly and funny! Menu - excellent selection - Seafood, Steaks, pasta etc. etc. Wine List - extensive, varied, would like to try them all (Terry claims he has). Bruschetta - bold and bountiful! Filet - cooked to perfection, tender as it should, seasoned to my taste, baked potato, not microwaved! We will definitely be back!

Food was delicious and unique, there is always a long wait for your meal but it is worth it.The employees were friendy and the atmosphere is nice. Its a little crowded at some tables but again i think the menu saves this place!

Service is slow, but food was wonderful. Mountain high steak was tender and delcious. A bit pricey but worth it.

My husband and I went in for lunch today - about 1pm. It wasn't busy, but had it been, I can assure that our waiter would have been just as attentive. A kind, courteous gal greeted us at the door and let us know we'd have waitstaff with us shortly. The atmosphere and decor was great, the food was delish, and the bill was reasonable. We will certainly go back!

My mother and I had dinner at the Signal Grill. Excellent rib eyes, salads, grilled vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes. Not pretentious. Excellent food, low prices, great staff. We are happy.

In response to the owner who tried to excuse this behavior, here is that weak attempt, first: "From our server, Marci: "Please tell me if I dress inappropriately. I do not act like I hate my job. I love my job! I do not remember who was cooking. I do know that there were a lot more than two tables. There might have been two tables by the time they left. When I took out their food , both dishes looked as they should. I can't imagine the chicken being under the beans, can you? If there were only two tables, there were a lot more, you can bet that I would have made it back over a lot sooner to check on them. I do not stand around and I do not drink soda! The lovely lady had finished her salad and part of half of her flatbread. I had no idea that anything was wrong. Why did he not speak up? I would have not charged them for her meal! A Smirk? I thought everything was fine! And yes I was cheerful. A lot of customers are traveling thru in the summer and choose not to take their leftovers with them. I find it so sad that posting on the net can have such an effect on so many lives. Even sadder that we believe everything we read without question." Now, here is the response/reality check to him: *If you can't see how they dress, get your eyes checked or retire. *Yes, she does act like she hates her job. Marci defines how it can be acted out, because it's clear as day. *The cook was a kid who was clearly under 18 years of age, and it sure as h*ll came out that way. If she can't remember THAT, medication is required. *Remembering "a lot" more than TWO tables, is a one h*ll of a cry. "Oh no .... there were 14 tables ... not two!" B.S. If she remembers how much of my wife's dish was finished, she remembers how many tables were occupied at that time, including who was on staff. *MY WIFE DIDN'T SPEAK UP BECAUSE WE NEVER GOT THE CHANCE! Am I not writing in English here? There is no chance to say anything, WHEN THERE IS NO ONE TO SAY IT TO! Got the food, then received the bill. It was that unprofessional. *Great defense (yeah, not really). However, reading beyond my own review is proving a trend that I simply don't need to point out. Case closed.

Through many evolutions the Signal Grill is one of the rare classy restaurants in the Bitterroot Valley. The owner cares and sometimes is there greeting customers wearing a kilt. Nice menu, more arty and "fancy" than standard Montana fare and it has a warm cosyness about it. Full bar and a number of draft beers. Could be four stars, but depends on who is cooking when you come in. Mostly it is very good and the service is excellent. At times it is slow and not up to snuff. Please do give it a try as they try and the quality of supplies and meals is excellent. Lunch and dinner and it is more of a dining experience than any other place in Hamilton.

Nice classy-but-casual atmosphere. I had the Rib Eye, which was average. Good sized portions, but nothing that would make it worth the price. Service was not good. For example, our waitress brought out our salads and left immediately. She brought the wrong dressing for my salad, and my wife asked for dressing on the side and it came mixed in. Ok, people make mistakes, but since she left so quickly, we could not bring it to her attention. Then she waited and delivered food to other tables, NEVER ONCE looking at us as we tried to get her attention. It took so long to get someone's attention that my wife went ahead and just picked at her salad. I finally flagged down another waitress, who sent our waitress over. I told her I asked for the Balsamic, not the Ranch, and she started flipping through all her tags RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. (I'm thinking, ummm... do you not believe me? Why don't you just go fix the problem?) When she finally found our tag, She grabbed the dressing, ran off, and brought the correct dressing, muttering an apology. WOW, I thought, sorry to inconvenience you! Sounds like the same grumpy waitress noted in other reviews. I'd rather just go somewhere else, especially for the price.

We were a little reluctant to eat there because of the bad reviews. Our first choice of restaurants was closed so we gave the Signal Grill a try. We were pleasantly surprised. Tonight, at least, they had their act together. It was Italian Night so we kept it simple. Food was good and service was prompt and friendly.

Hands down, the worst food I've ever had. It was a cold day so I wanted some soup. It was suppose to be creamy vegatable. What I got was a bowl of purred carrots with so much pepper, it was literally not ediable, it was apparant the cook was a 3 pack a day smoker who had long ago killed their taste buds with booze and cigarettes. I ended up drinking water and had a roll for dinner. My fiance's dinner was also very disappointing. I wanted to get up and leave, but my fiance has far better manners than I, it was by far the most disgusting food I've ever had in my life. Don't waste your time people, save your money, make your food at home!

fantastic food! service was a little slow considering there were 3 waitresses for 5 tables, and a it's a little spendy for Hamilton, but the taste made it worthwhile- $11 for three awesome fish tacos, and $18 for butternut squash ravioli- sauce was to die for! one of the only late night restaurants in town! great wine selection too with ample amounts served per glass
