PROS: Decent food, large portion, large selection on the menu, open late, good service, plenty parking space CONS: Food can be better, it's decent, but it has room for improvement. I had the fried chicken dinner which came with a simple salad, daily soup, dinner roll, potato, and the friend chicken. Everything was okay, but the chicken was a little bit too salty and on the dry side.

If you like your grandma's coffee house, this is your place. If you like fresh-roasted, single origin coffees, it is not. Based on what it is, I give it four stars. I wish these places would embrace modern improvements (not everything modern), but they would probably alienate the +55. EDIT: coffee was water. Three. Disappointed there is nothing about the coffee I am about to drink. It was probably not Swiss-water-process, and most likely an industrial offering. Sip... It *certainly* tastes that way. Way watered down too, like a teabags amount of coffee was used. And this was from a 'fresh pot'. I think I feel strange. Parking is easy, and I see top sirloin for $13.45. I want to spend my money in a place that takes more effort (although by no means was service bad) in the big, little things. This is the kind of coffee someone drinks when they want caffeine and no flavour. It's decaffinated.

Popular breakfast diner among locals and for those who don't have taste buds. I think it's severely lacking in taste, I mean, how do you even screw up an omelette? Hash browns needed massive seasoning too, even extra salt wouldn't be enough here, give me that hot sauce please! The sticky buns on the other hand are okay, very sweet. Service was mediocre, I think they were down a server too since someone came in late.

I didn't expect much from this place, but I always feel that you can't really mess up breakfast so we gave it a try. First off, the waitress looked absolutely miserable. She was overwhelmed and she let it show. She literally rolled her eyes at us when we asked for help. The breakfast food was subpar. The waffles looked like toaster waffles and they didn't taste very good. The toast was barely toasted and came out about 10 minutes after our food. The coffee was barely drinkable. Bottom line: try another place, oh wait there aren't any; you're screwed.

Simple American diner menu. They have these amazing giant Carmel nut cinnamon rolls. Get them early, because they will sell out!

Though the service wasn't exceptional, I would still go back. The food came out fast and tasted amazing. The coffee was fantastic and the price was good. Nice mom and pops kind of place...will return when I come through town again

Very tasty diner with daily specials for dinner. Their menu is huge! Make sure to leave room for the home made pie -- they always have a big selection. One of the very few places open past 8 pm in town.

My husband and I enjoy going here for breakfast. He always gets the cowboy scramble he says its the best. The staff is super friendly and always promp when we need a refill on our drinks. We love the decor: its old fashion fun with vintage toys everywhere

This place was a total miss for me. Nothing fresh on the menu; cheese was American and the ham was lunchmeat - not exactly what I had hoped for with my omelet. Our waitress was openly bothered by us not knowing exactly what we wanted when she came to take our order. The food was not very good; so all in all I am not interested in coming back. There must be a good breakfast somewhere in Hamilton?!

I typically love this place. The servers are always sweet and easy going. The portions are large and the cost isn't too high. However the last time I went here (yesterday) I ordered a breakfast burrito. I would guess the burrito is frozen and then when one is ordered they put salsa on the top and zap it in the microwave. My burrito was sitting in a pool of juices. The tortilla was soggy and dripping. I think next time I will try something different when I'm passing through Hamilton.

Coffee Cup Cafe was OK. Nothing special. I had the Denver omelette. It came with a cold slice of American cheese on top and was chock full of green peppers. Oh, the typical restaurant tomatoes were present as well. The toast was cold. The hash browns were tasteless. The wait staff was also OK. But it's Hamilton, MT. Beggars can't be choosers.

Coffee Cup This is where the locals go in Hamilton and from the surrounding area in the Bitterroot Valley. The food is simple and ample. Many of the older retired men eat most of their meals here as they have daily specials for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Be a cultural anthropologist in watching the customers. There are cowboys, trades guys and families. A good number of people from Salmon, Idaho eat breakfast here on their monthly early morning drive to accomplish serious shopping in Missoula, an hour further north. Everyone is nice and friendly. The owner is there every day and must have warehouses full of decorative "collections". Sometimes there are dog things, chicken and rooster things, toys. There will be photos, tapestries, hook rugs, objects and anything with her particular theme. Some of it is really antique, but that is her thing and it is interesting to take in. Their waitresses are wonderful, keeping up with orders and accommodating any particular customer preferences. And they know all the regulars and their preferences. Newspapers are in a rack at the end of the counter. The menu has standard stuff and you can go no-carb, substitute and even get senior, or smaller portions. Ask for what you want and they will do your best. Sunday mornings are very popular, so get there before the church crowds come in around 10am. Oddly, their coffee is weak and watery, but their customers are used to it and that is not going to change. It is not unusual to ask the waitress to do a "double pot" which is double strength, approaching decent coffee. But you better drink more than two cups each! Or you can get a shot of espresso to man-up your java. Pies are home-made and wonderful. If it is in season, like rhubarb, they make it. We many times have pie for breakfast or take come pieces home with us for later. Don't miss the pies. And they make a really mean sticky bun, goopy with raisins and melted sugar. Oh boy! Remember that this is rural Montana, so you are eating with real people who work hard to make a living and have a lot of pride in being responsible for them. Friendly is normal Montana behavior, so acting out or being angry/upset is inappropriate. If you have a problem with the food or service, which I doubt, take it up quietly and with dignity and they will take care of you. You get respect by giving respect. After all, you are a guest in their house.

Decent place, fair prices. I'd suggest to avoid them on Sunday mornings as they get busy and overwhelmed. We ordered breakfast, waited 40 minutes - only to watch the confused waitress serve our order to the wrong table. We got up, paid for the coffee and then left.

Well, my review is mixed, the service is good, the food is great but wow the prices are crazy high. Im here visiting from San Diego, arguably one of the most expensive cities to live in, and the food in this diner is MORE expensive than it is there. Great service, really good food, awful prices.

Hey this is your place for some good home cooking. Really great sandwich selection, salad selection, dinner plates. The prices are reasonable, the staff has been nice (both times I went) and everything appears to be clean. I like this place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and plan to return.

The coffee cup has the best breakfast and coffee in Hamilton. The breakfast special is always a good choice and the pricing is very reasonable.

Great place!!! Excellent breakfast and all homestyle cooking:) I love the veggie omelet with homefries, however I have not eaten lunch or dinner here. I'd definitely choose this place for breakfast.

The hostess in the morning was the same woman who cut me off at the bowling alley bar 8 hours earlier. Hmm, she brought me a cup a coffee while my head was down and my friends were talking about going to the hot springs. She smirked at me, I thought it was cute. This is pretty much the only game in town when it comes to diner-esque restaurants, and it is really good. I recommend the dinner salad and a myriad of quality breakfast items. (Omelets, pancakes, esp. good) :)

Locally owned and operated with lots of local color. Breakfast is better than the chain restaurants in town.
