I now understand why they only have 2 stars! What I don't understand is why someone was being so generous. We walked in and the host asked us, "do we have a reservation?" (The response I wanted to give was of course, "I don't know did you make it", somehow he was part of my party now). Of course we didn't have a reservation. He walked us down toward the bathrooms, found the closest table and set our menus down. On our way there, we passed at least 4 available tables. They may have been for the patrons that "made reservations". I requested to not have that table. Our host said fine pick anyone you want that's clean, duh! We selected a table and sat down. We immediately got our water. However, we sat around for at least 10/15 minutes before anyone even looked our way. We finally decided that this "white table cloth" restaurant was not for us, still nobody has even said hello to us. It appears that the "white table cloth was mistaken for a bed sheet, because everyone was "sleeping". We never got any service, so we got up and left after 15 minutes. It's not like there were no servers around. They were busy cleaning and resetting tables, but too "busy" to take an order. What a shame for such a nice looking restaurant to lack in service. It's a too bad that the art of service is gone.

Great Food! Great Staff! Overall pleasant experience and nice comfortable lounge, bar, or dining area. All of the dishes are good, with the exception of their homemade pastas. The pasta is usually too sticky and gums to itself. The menu is extensive so avoiding the pasta is no problem. You can take comfort in any of their other dishes and appetizers.

If you like flavorless dry meat and pasta dripping with oil and butter for an insane price then you will love this place. I'm not trying to be mean but honestly your money is better spent at the Olive Garden and that's sad. Just go downtown instead.

One the best home town places in town. Mike, Ralph and the crew care deeply about your time at Ferraro's and always go out of their way to say hello

I am always surprised to see cars in their parking lot. ALWAYS. We were invited here for a party and the apps were ok, I'd give 3 stars for the party food. Then, we made the mistake of ordering food to go and that was a disaster. Everything was one cold, hunk of under seasoned mess. Italians use more herbs than parsley! This place needs an infusion of flavor and light STAT. If you like fake Italian e.g. Olive Garden, you might like the food here.

Great food, great service for a 20 person party. Everyone had an AWESOME time, thank you for everything.

Like every other review for Ferraro's the food was ok at best. I was hoping for a pizza from the wood oven and because a party of 20 was coming in they wouldn't make me one. Then I asked about the steak? Sorry the we like to make those in the wood oven. So I asked if they had pasta? Yes we can get that for you.

We are from the east and so generally avoid Italian places here because of the great Italian food we get at home. But on a Saturday night in August we decided to avoid downtown and we tried Ferraro's. It was a pleasant surprise. We were seated in a lovely enclosed courtyard outside. The wine list is extensive and all Italian. The waitress helped us choose and we were both happy with our choices. Bread was disappointing but at least there was olive oil for dipping. Salad is served family style and had a great balsamic house dressing, nice and light and not soggy. So good we had seconds. My husband ordered something not on the menu, chicken piccata, and they were happy to accommodate. I had another chicken dish. Both were very good and served with lots of veggies. Side dish of pasta is also served family style so we both had to want the same thing. We choose the garlic butter topping. As other reviewers have said the pasta is homemade and delicious. They would have brought seconds but we were too full. Overall a very good meal. Served professionally by nice people. Service was exceptionally good. A great alternative if you want to dine outside the downtown area. We will go back.

So tasty. Wonderful pasta made fresh every day. People who don't like Ferraros were looking for dominos pizza or maybe some Olive Garden pasta. It's good but only if you know what good food tastes like

Not impressed. Overpriced, up charges for about everything (no free soda refills, $6 charge to split entree on 2 plates), only one brand of soda (and it's not the good one) , limited leg room in the booth ( main dining room ) and the service was a average. My pizza was filling and very tasty. The sausage was spicier than expected. The crust tasted very good and was cooked perfectly. My wife had shrimp Spumante with linguini and thought it was excellent. Shrimp was cooked perfectly. Her cannoli was her first one ever so she said it was 'good'. Not going again. Don't recommend it for others unless you adore a huge wine selection and are planning on filling up on mostly wine. The food was not what it should be for the price.

I've reviewed this restaurant before but wanted to update my review due to my last experience at Ferraros a couple of weeks ago. We went on steak night and they do the steaks in the wood fired pizza oven. I ordered the filet with Gorgonzola sauce poured over it. My steak was truly the best steak I have ever had. It was perfectly cooked with a buttery slightly carmelized and toasted exterior, with the interior so juicy and was so tender I could use my butter knife to cut. The side pasta which is made by scratch in house, was cooked perfect al dente. It had so much flavor and texture I could have eaten it without sauce (but their pink Floyd sauce is incredible). These noodles aren't even in the same league as the mass produced reheated mush noodles that you get at Olive Garden or Carino's. I'm truly surprised by the low scores of others, and think they must be so used to Americanized fast food (microwaved) chain restaurants they don't know what handmade quality tastes like. And lastly Sarah the manager has a great knowledge of Italian wines and recently traveled to Italy to visit some of the wineries that they serve. This is truly a treat speaking to a fellow wine enthusiast that knows her stuff vs. some college student with a list of house reds that are served in the wrong glass and far to warm, like I've experienced at numerous other restaurants boasting good wines. I've taken all of my friends, family and employees and we've never had a bad experience or bad food. Thanks Ferraros!

The food is pedestrian, at BEST. I am positive everything that was put in front of me came from a Sysco truck. On the plus side, the service was excellent.

I live in New York now and Ferraros is still the BEST Italian food I've EVER had. I am surrounded by Italian food now and I still think ferraros is the best. They make their own pasta and you can absolutely taste it. I had to double take when I saw the reviews on here. This place is great, a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. If you want cheap Italian make pasta at home if you want great Italian, come here.

I hate to beat 'em up some more, but seriously don't waste your money here. We were holding on to a gift certificate that was approaching three years old. We have been here three other times over the course of fifteen years, and nothing had really changed over that time span. The food is overpriced and nothing special. The salad dressing was waaayyyy too bitter (like it was almost purely basalmic vinegar), our crab cakes had shells in them and the dipping sauce that accompanied the crab cakes had a really bitter aftertaste. The lobster in the ravioli was ORANGE and tasted (what I assumed) like chum. It came swimming in a butter sauce that was tasteless just plain gross. My husband had the steak special and he was pleased with his sirloin. I had chicken ravioli, the sauce was okay but the chicken was dry and tasteless. The wait staff was friendly but way very over zealous when it came to clearing dishes off the table. I was physically mopping up some olive oil with my bread on a plate when a waitress (not our own) passing by asked if she could remove it the plate. Chr*st, can I at least finish what I'm eating first? It was like that with every course of the meal. I felt rushed, yet it took over 30 minutes to get our entrees. I can understand if it was busy, but there were only 4 other tables in the dining area that were occupied. Even with a $75 gift certificate, we still had to pay another $27 out of pocket for (2) glasses of wine, crab cake appetizer, and three entrees. I'm not sure if it was worth the $27.

First time around we found mediocre food at great food prices. We gave them another chance during half-price appetizer night. The lobster ravioli is maybe worth the price that night but the antipasto platter was decent. Overall, I'd prefer to cook Italian at home.

Normally I don't make an effort to write a negative review but the food at the establishment is so flavorless and ineptly prepared I felt compelled to protest. It was bland to the point of being offensive. I would rather chew on a stick.

This used to be my favorite restraint!!! Not sure what they changed but it is just awful now!!! Lobster was rubbery and over cooked, the steak was overcooked. WAY to pricy for burnt food!

Terrible food! The bread was stale, salad filled with grit, and manicotti was a joke. Everything was overpriced. Honestly, I don't know how they are still in business. The girl pouring waters did a fantastic job.

Been here once and I was not impressed with the food. I think Carinos is better. Spendy for the lack of good food. Avoid if possible.

Ferraro's serves overpriced, mediocre food. Searching for a new restaurant on a Sunday night, we decided to try Ferraro's. I'd heard tell of high prices and uninspired food, but the intrigue of a new restaurant overwhelmed my better judgment. I'm sad to say that Ferraro's disappointed even my low expectations. We arrived to an empty restaurant--never a good sign. The on-duty waitress (one of three visible staff in a restaurant large enough to seat 300 people) seated us at a table for two, nicely set with oil, vinegar and tea-lite candle. Prices ranged from $10-$14 for appetizers, and $16-$30 for entrees. Eschewing wine and appetizers for the evening (the wine list ranged from $60 for the cheapest bottle to $375 for the best), we ordered our entrees straight-a-way. The waitress brought out a romaine salad, made with a raspberry vinegarette and served with crumbled Gorgonzola cheese, that proved the highlight of the evening. Despite the restaurant being basically empty (there were three other parties present at the restaurant), our entrees were slow to arrive. My Quattro Formaggi was served warm (not hot). The rigatoni pasta was undercooked, and the vast amount of cheese (imagine an alfredo sauce, but made of entirely molten mozzarella) quickly coagulated into a solid mass. Artichokes overwhelmed my date's entree so much that she didn't even want to take the rest of her plate home. The service, similarly, was sub-par. Our small water glasses, never refilled, sat empty for most of the meal. Ferraro's atmosphere was pleasant--but the service poor and the food far worse than your average Italian chain restaurant, and twice the price. I won't be going back.

I went, I ate, and I'll want a 50% off coupon if I ever eat there again... Whats good... The wine list. My dad went with me to dinner and hes a pretty distinguished guy, and really likes a good glass of wine. I commend Ferraro's on their selection of wine. All types of wine are available and the wine list is a well rounded collection. However, the wine does not cover up for average Italian food! The staff. The people who work there are pretty darn cute! They weren't much for conversation, but they did their job fairly well and they were quick to keep my glass full. Whats bad... The food! I would say that without a doubt, an olive garden could make a better eggplant parm than Ferraros. When served my dinner, I was extremely disappointed. There was no real presentation involved, and it seemed to me that the sauce came out of a jar, the eggplant was cooked "so so" and the pasta was quite stiff! The taste was absent. I felt like I was served an Italian meal by a poor college student. Sorry Ferraro's. I tried to like you. And lets be honest, its not me, its you.... The environment of Ferraros was OK. One room was for drinks and appetizers, there was also a small bar area, centered around a wood fire oven, and lastly, there is one great room for dining. The great room was all chairs, no booths. It catered to an older crowd, and that was the majority of the people who ate there. The art on the walls is for sale, and if you have deep pockets, maybe you can afford some. The staff wore white dress shirts with, black pants and women wore skirts. Noting too surprising there. I'm guessing that the owner of the restaurant was in attendance when I was there. He was greeting people at the table side, and I was surprised to see him wearing all denim... Maybe he really likes Paul Newman... He was kinda loud and rarely helped out his staff. I couldn't tell you why I'm writing about him. I guess I found his presence annoying since he wasn't the server, didn't wait on tables, and wasn't a Maitre d'.... Ferraro's may have good pizza, but like most things on the menu, its probably over priced. Look elsewhere when thinking about Italian food....

We ate here a few nights ago after a couple years layoff, not having been impressed the first couple visits 2 or 3 years ago. I just read the two prior years review, bot on target still, but I think the place has apparently improved some recently. Yes, seems to cater to the older crowd, but I ands my wife are 60+ as were the friends we ate with. Service seemed fast and friendly and lots of ongoing attention to our table (and they were fairly crowded). Our two rib eye steaks were good....cooked to perfection for each of us (not overcooked like lots of places), tender and reasonably priced. I personally think a bit of fat trimming before serving would be better.....I know rib eyes are very riddled with fat that makes them so tasty, but I don't enjoy sorting through the large areas of fat, piling them on my salad plate, to get to the steak. Sizable servings demanded a take home, but it was great sliced on bagels the next AM. The dinner salad/ appetizer was real good (I ate the seconds left in the bowl).....we had a family bowl and lots of cheese crumbles (gorgo' I think) with some sort of Italian vinaigrette. The glass of wine I had was a weekly or daily special and it was a good full-bodied red, better than what I have had in many Italian places.....can't recall the name, sorry. Our friend like her Margarita as I recall. Overall, Ferraro's is a bit too spendy for sure, for what you get. One of our friends had a pasta dish with scallops he said was good. The other had a seafood special with a fairly small piece of very expensive fish! She said it was OK but not for $28.50 as I recall. Four of us spent over $113.00, before tip... and that only included three alcoholic drinks and no desert. If you sign up for it, your'll get periodic $10 discount coupons . Only one per table though, which is NO GOOD for two couples having dinner together. :-( And the coupon is only good one night per week....not very user-friendly either, since we can never seem to plan for that night. Our friends like the place better than we do. Overall, average food at higher than average prices. But the service was outstanding this time.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
