    Beautiful restaurant and bar. Had a lively crowd and even live music (a classical guitarist one night and live band another) when we were there. Service was prompt and friendly. They have happy hour daily 4-6, with $1 off drinks, and appetizers on the lounge menu discounted to $10. My cousin had the flat iron steak, and it was really good. I already had dinner, but tried the MT Old Fashioned w/ their signature cinnamon cherries, and it was strong, but well made.

    Atmosphere and service is terrific. The specialty cocktails are delicious. I recommend the Spiced Cherry Mojito. They use their own house cherries and it tastes like cherry pie! Entrees could have been better. I had the Surf 'n Turf and my husband had the New York Strip. For a state known for it's beef it was cooked average. I highly recommend going there for a drink and appetizers.

    You don't go here for dinner, you go here for an experience! We just tried out the new menu, it was all delicious, there is not another restaurant in Billings like it. My husband had the beet salad to start, wow, if you love beets its a must try. I had the bean soup, it was actually a much larger portion than I expected and it too was yummy. For dinner we both had the lamb, I'm not sure what kind of magic sauce was on it, but wow, I could bathe in it. For dessert we had the bread pudding, it was not what I was expecting but still quite yummy. Chef Tim and his team really has something special going on here, and I think only more amazing things will come from TEN. Oh and our service was lovely.

    I am really disappointed. I booked reservations there for a business dinner. We arrived on time and were seated immediately. That's where it all fell apart. First, some of us sat for 10-15 minutes before we were asked for our drink orders. Then, we waited another 20 minutes for our drinks. Then another 20 before we were even told the specials. After the specials were given to us, the waitress walked away. Literally walked away before we could even get her our orders. When we finally DID place our order, we waited over an HOUR for our food. The reason? Apparently, they had a large party who just walked in with no reservation, and apparently, according to the waitress, the kitchen wasn't prepared for it. Excuse me? If you want to open a fine dining restaurant, you have to be prepared for situations like this. It's going to happen. I was told the kitchen was small and the orders had overwhelmed them. Huh? You don't have to be Gordon Ramsay to know that if you are going to do gourmet food, you have a large kitchen and more than one chef who can handle the capacity! When we finally got our food, my fish was lukewarm at best. One other person in our party had the same dish and his fish wasn't even cooked all the way through. While the staff was obviously upset at the way things were going in the kitchen, it could have been handled much better. They offered us free desserts, which was a nice gesture. But by the time we were finished with our dinner, we had been there for almost four hours. Most of them waiting for our salads, soups and entree's. Sorry. I really wanted to like you. Probably won't be coming back.

    For the most part, TEN is a win in my book. The huckleberry martini I had was great (although one is enough from a sweetness perspective). We also had the brussel sprouts which were very good, but also on the heavy side. I wasn't expecting that. Our service... We had an attentive waiter that gave us the happy hour pricing even though we missed the deadline. We had called ahead to ask when the HH was and whoever answered said it was 4-7. We arrive around 6:20 and were disappointed to hear it ended. I guess they recently changed their hours to 4-6 on the happy hour. As I said, they fixed it but it was slightly disappointing that we were only able to have one drink on the HH pricing. Overall, I find this to be a great restaurant and would give it another shot. Why not?

    For the bar. I went last night and there were a few people there. The bar tender was nice and apologetic when he told me they were out of Oban. (!). I thought how can you be out?!? Must carry enough back up. So I went with Glenfiddich, okay decent sub. Nice venue, decor. I guess only problem with ambience was it was a bit sedate which may be perfect for those looking for a quiet place to have a drink with a friend. I'll go back, maybe next time for dinner!

    We had the absolute pleasure of eating at 10 tonight. When the restaurant first opened the reviews were not so good so we havent eaten here yet. It is my understanding that they have a new chef. Tonight I had The best grilled pork chop I have had ever. The service was outstanding. The drinks from the bar were exquisite. The ambience is of course absolutely perfect. I cannot say enough great things about how my food tasted tonight. We will definitely be back many times.

    So, after sharing a poor dining experience here on Yelp, we were contacted by TEN staff, who offered a complimentary dinner as an apology - and to assure us that they had remedied the problems we encountered at our first visit there. We took them up on it - and were very pleasantly surprised. We were treated like royalty. The service, food, wine and drinks were all excellent. Based upon other fine dining establishments here in Billings, I am not quite ready to give TEN 5 stars, but if I could give 4.5 I would. And when we return for another dinner, I will be happy to upgrade my rating - IF service is just as good as it was when the staff knew they needed to impress us this last time :) Kudos to the management for recognizing what needed to be changed. And thank you for a wonderful complimentary evening. It was greatly appreciated - and WE WILL BE BACK!!

    Eating at the 10 restaurant is an experience! The chef is amazing and the staff really takes care of you. Sometimes it's nice to go out and have a really nice dinner and I love that you can do this right from your hotel. We had a great meal and honestly I was shocked it wasn't busy in there because the food was great!

    After a long day of flights I arrived at Northern Hotel and dined at Ten. I was aggravated from the day and was hungry. I was soothed by the friendly staff, Lindsay and company, they were both friendly and joking... I ordered off menu.. steak.. naked and steamed vegetables... it arrived in what can be called a perfect state of preparedness and presentation. Kudos to the Chef and staff of Ten for turning a long day into pleasantness.

    Had dinner at TEN two nights in a row while staying at the Northern. The menu features a mouth-watering assortment of steaks, seafood , game meats and pastas. Night 1= Pecan crusted Pork loin w/Caesar salad starter. OMG, get this! Just get it. Night 2= locally sourced Lamb Chops. Accompanied by a creamy Rosemary Polenta, you'll figure heaven can't be better than this. Prices per entree were not low, nor not too high but be aware that soup or salad is ala carte, and while they add to your dining experience , they also add to your bill. Dessert menu was priced too high despite the delicious sounding offerings, but dessert is easy to skip when you've got entrees this pleasing. Service= very good. Granted the restaurant wasn't busy, but I was attended to quickly. Overall this place comes with a high recommendation and it's worth it. The food is exceptional, and I really wanted to try every item on the menu. I'll eventually work my way through :-)

    What a wonderful find in downtown Billings. We enjoyed a elegant evening dining with the gentle sounds of a solo country guitar singer from the bar half of the restaurant. Our waitress was very attentive and helped assure we had everything we needed. They started us out with a chef's appetizer of humus and bread. One of my friends had the rib eye steak, it looked as good as it tasted and was huge. I enjoyed the roasted Beet Carpaccio and the pecan crusted pork chop. It was cooked to perfection and I savored the pecan crust. Too bad it is in Billings and not Los Angeles!

    I ate at TEN on the opening night and had a great time! My party had dinner reservations at 7 and were seated promptly. We enjoyed a bottle of wine and loved the 5-course meal that was served to us. The best part of the meal was the creamed Brussels sprouts that were served as part of the appetizer. They were so delicious! And this is coming from a Brussels sprouts hater! I have always hated them and now I can't wait to go back to TEN and have them again! Besides that I enjoyed the salad, asparagus, and chocolate covered strawberries. After dinner we moved to the lounge, which was very busy, where we were waited on by a very nice cocktail waitress who served our drinks as fast as she could with the large crowd. She was also very apologetic for us having to wait on drinks, even though we did not wait very long and were having a great time regardless. Overall, I was very happy with my experience with TEN and would recommend it!

    I finally had an excuse to visit TEN. My father in law's 85th birthday was the ticket. The service was attentive, almost to a fault. At one point I felt like the waitress and busboy were going to crash while taking our order and refilling our water at the same time. The staff was friendly and well informed. The biggest service failure was one busboy removed our plate from the wrong side. Realistically we had no complaints. This is a gourmet experience. Unlike your usual Montana steakhouse, the food was sophisticated, fresh and unusual. For example, my potato-leek-gratin was prepared with potatoes slivered and al-dente, and served in their own ramakin. Once I recovered from the initial surprise that they weren't baked to death, I fell in love with their creamy goodness. Not your typical heavy potatoes. The beef tenderloin filets were cooked exactly as ordered, with a wonderful demi-glace. The plank salmon was perfectly prepared, according to my father-in-law. The side was kale sauteed with onion. It was the best kale I've had and my wife adored it (I still don't believe kale should count as a food). Our waitress offered, "The meatballs are poetry". That might be an exaggeration, but they were savory and well seasoned. Unlike your classic Italian meatballs smothered in tomato sauce, these were dense with fresh richly flavored pasta and fresh tomatoes. The portion was large enough for my wife to get three meals. Dessert was an experience. Semifreddo is Italian for half cold. A shortbread crust, maple ice cream, and a bacon infused caramel sauce--topped with a slice of praline bacon. Yes, praline bacon. Bizarre, but oddly delightful. The quality of the presentation matched the exquisite combination of flavors. This is not the place for a standard steak with baked potato. Based on the guests we saw, from a just married bride to cowboys to oilmen, this is a comfortable, friendly and inviting restaurant. We had a great time and a great meal.

    Great looking restaurant and bar. The true to Montana menu is heavy on wild game options and steak. All of the steaks come off the broiler/grill without sauce. You choose your steak sauces and they come on the side. There were 6 of us and almost everyone enjoyed their orders. I ordered a smoked pork chop that was about 3 inches thick! It was good but because it was smoked, it was less juicy/pink in the middle than I prefer. But that is the nature of smoking meats. The andouille sprinkled grits were cooked just right. My wife had a lobster risotto. The lobster meat was all claw meat and must have been prepared in a fish base. The flavor wasn't quite right with the blander seasoned risotto. On the plus, the risotto was cooked properly. But the overall performance of the dish wasn't on par with the price. Wait staff was good and handled a few issues well. The hostess, however, didn't seem to care about anything or enjoy people. Her interaction almost flavored the whole experience in a negative light. Overall, the food was good and the experience positive. It has the potential to be better though.

    Valentines dinner...no regular menu, just a "special" ...$80 for 4 course meal for 2. Didn't sound too bad, but here's what we got. The Fondue appetizer was a small bowl of yummy cheese fondue accompanied by 2 thin slices of apple, 2 pieces of broccoli, 2 pieces of cauliflower, and 2 very hard slivers of baguette. Our salad was a tiny pile of arugula lettuce coated in oil and topped with one pear slice. At this point we are thinking of their huge profit margin, as our starters were nothing fancy and cost about $0.50 to throw together! Then comes the real punch...we get to SHARE one Cornish game hen on a plate set between us. So here we are on a special night acting like 2 coyotes over the carcass of a tiny 3oz bird, trying to get one more morsel off of it! At this point we are still starving and the service has been mediocre at best. Twenty minutes after our "feast" the dessert arrives and leaves us with a pleasant taste...really...5 yummy bits of chocolate (2 were covered strawberries, yum!). We should have shared a drink as well, because a crummy glass of house white wine and a shot of whiskey on the rocks cost us $16. We won't be back. I give the TEN restaurant a TWO.

    Just tried to make a reservation for Christmas dining at the Northern and I was just told that the chef is NOT allowing people who are not hotel guests to eat at TEN. Hmmmm, isn't the Billings the community the bread and butter of this restaurant? We thought we would give TEN a try on Christmas as we have had TWO bad meals at the restaurant. Not a good move on the restaurant.

    My family just had Easter Brunch on Sunday and we were all so excited to be going to a place that has given us such good memories in years past, but I am sorry to report that brunch disappointed us all. We were expecting the same quality food that has always set The Northern apart from the rest. The prime rib was literally the only thing that was great. There were no outstanding dishes, no salad bar, and the deserts were so tasteless and stale. It is hard to believe that at $42.00 a plate, they couldn't have thrown some lettuce together with dressings and all. I know they are just starting up, but it will be quite a while before we will be trying them again.

    The atmosphere is beautiful, the service very upscale and the food is quite good, if a tad elaborate. What I go for mostly though is the Guinness on tap. They have a fancy mix gas (75%N & 25%CO2) dispensing system that makes for the most awesome and tasty draw of Dublin's finest you can find in Billings.

    I had a very tasty dinner on Oct. 1, 2013 at Ten. We were in Billings, and by chance we decided to stop in the bar at the Hotel where Ten is, and have a drink. An excellent bar, nice bartender. Looked at the dinner menu and decided to try it. My friend had the Halibut and raved about it, and since he lives near Billings, has already made plans to bring a friend there. I had the wild salmon and it was good, very tasty, the garlic mashed potatoes were delicious. Over all mine was a 7 out of 10, but then again I really tend to favor ethnic dining and this was more American (?) cuisine. The server Michael (?) was very nice, efficient. The place is simple elegance. Both our dinners were $25 I believe, with veggies and potatoes, salad is extra. I would recommend this place if you want a nicer dining experience while in Billings.

    I have now dined at TEN on 3 separate occasions and enjoyed every one of them. I have been fortunate enough to be with large groups of 10 - 12 each time. This has given us the chance to experience the majority of the menu from appetizers thru the delicious sweets at the end. We were with middle school aged and Middle Aged guests and all enjoyed our time there. First the atmosphere; I love the attention to detail in the wall textures, interesting cutlery and dining cloths on the table. I enjoy the sounds of a great restaurant with conversations, laughter and seeing people truly enjoying themselves. Appetizers were interesting, creative and above all delicious. The meat and cheese plate was fantastic. Salads and soups like a Curry puree get you anticipating the mains. Entrees truly were fabulous from the cowboy chop to the duck. This is not a classic steakhouse but they can sure fix a great cut of meat and serve it with a creative and innovative set of sides. Desserts that make your mouth water like pralined bacon strips with custard and chocolate cake are just the beginning of a great end to a superb meal. With large groups we have ordered all of the appetizers, most of the salads many if the entrees. ( some twice). And most of the desserts three times. We have not been disappointed. No concerns about the pace or quality of the service. Just a great overall dining experience. Love that the Northern is back and TEN does it proud.

    I have eaten at TEN a couple of times now, and am already looking forward to my next visit! My first visit was on their Grand Opening evening, and was taken back by everything from the enjoyably unique atmosphere, to the food that has already made me a return customer, and will continue to do so. That evening being the official opener, you can imagine how many people came down to enjoy the new attraction in town. However, you would have never guessed it thanks to the way the wait staff was able to handle the rush, remain on top of the situation, and make sure that meals and drinks were delivered promptly; keeping the customers at ease. At the end of our fabulously prepared 5 course meal (the meat platter was truly something to write home about), we figured that the bar was going to be completely slammed, and that a night cap would probably need to be found elsewhere. Not the case! While the bar certainly had attracted a good number of us wrapping up our meals, along with countless other passers by, my group was able to sneak into a table towards the back corner, and were immediately waited on and served shortly after. Needless to say, a solid first impression was made. Some time later, I met a friend for dinner at TEN, and was pleasantly impressed yet again. While it was still noticeable that the Northern Hotel was still attracting a good number of those interested in Billings' newest attraction, the crowd was nothing compared to opening night. Again, the staff was the first thing to make an impression. With fewer folks to tend to, the staff opted to give full attention to those of us that were there. Offering up recommendations on everything from selections off the impressive wine list, to their personal favorites from the kitchen, the wait staff tended to us seamlessly throughout the evening. I could go on about the drinks, the food , the service and the overall "scene" that TEN has to offer, but I honestly think it better to experience for yourself. There is a reason that I am awaiting my return to TEN, and I think it will be fairly obvious to anyone who goes for a visit.

    This review is for the bar only as we have just been there for drinks and not food. Although at first glance prices might seem high for alcohol the size of the tumblers is greatly worth the price. Last night we had exceptional service from Jeremy and would highly recommend anyone who goes here to ask for his service. Just dont even look at the drink menu and have him masterfully create something of his own. Great job Jeremy. KCCO!

    This review is for TEN. My wife and I had dinner here last week on 3/25, a Monday, after much anticipation and it was interesting to say the least...very uneven service AND food sums it up. I had called early in the day for a reservation for dinner which I was told by the hotel staff we would need as they are "reservation only". I left a message as the restaurant staff would be due in shortly and would return my call. More than two hours passed and as our reservation time was approaching and I had not heard from them I decided to call again. Well, no apology followed for not calling me back but the staff seemed cheerful on the phone so we put it behind us. When we arrived, things were a little disjointed from the start. We entered from the hotel lobby and ran into the chef conversing with two other gentleman who then directed us, by pointing, to proceed around the bar to the host station. We were seated and waited on by a friendly, wide-eyed server named Moses who we came to like during the meal - clearly he was trying very hard to provide good service. The food and the length of time food was served were problematic however. We waited nearly 15 minutes for our drinks though we were only one of two or three tables at 5:15pm. No bread or small bites were offered while we waited which is unusual for an upscale or fine dining restaurant. Our first course was the Blue crab cake. What came out of the kitchen was a plate with a bland "cake" breaded with a sandy and oily crust (from the oil not being the proper temp when frying ) topped oddly by a (baked?) soft-shell crab - very odd, quite bland and really not good, though the sauce was alright. We finished a third of this dish, mostly to be polite. Ok, so we both ordered the Alaskan Halibut as our entrees since Billings restaurants have not had a lot of good northwest fish options in recent months. Wow, really big thick pieces of chewy, overcooked Halibut arrived, the cardinal rule of leaving the fish slightly clear in the center overlooked by the kitchen. My wife and I concluded this was a lot like cruise ship food that has been cooked in advance or "bulk" cooked, as it had the same dry, chewy texture. I am not at all sure they hadn't microwaved it to "refresh" it before serving. I had fresh fish many times at Triple Creek Ranch in western MT. last summer and not once was served anything close to that level of overdone fish. It was disappointing (for $25 a plate, no sides) and a very basic kitchen error that shouldn't be repeated twice. Especially so when the place is 10% full. When I mentioned this to the waiter he said he would consult with the chef to see how the chef wanted it to come out but he clearly wasn't willing to take ownership of the two mistakes. I nearly mentioned that the chef hasn't tasted it, isn't eating it, nor paying for it. Of course a manager or the chef himself should have come to address our concerns, which did not happen. At the very least in a fine dining restaurant, the chef should be tasting everything that is about to be served or be willing to hear customer concerns firsthand if he hasn't. What struck me the most was the level of having lost sight of the customer (and valuing customer service first), which we kept being reminded of this evening, starting with the lack of a return phone call for the reservation. Real value has gone missing here; the food is pretty dreadful by any standard and it is very expensive. Maybe they bought their own hype before they established a reputation? This restaurant does not seem ready for primetime and I seriously doubt I would ever return in the future. Not recommended.

    Came here with a fairly large (7) group for dinner on a Sunday night. The interior looks great, sort of a modern take on old school American luxury. The server, while seemingly a little nervous, was very helpful and knowledgeable, not to mention good with the children in our party. I ordered their signature filet, and it was excellent. The crab butter on top didn't overpower the steak, like a béarnaise sauce can and the potato cake and garlic spinach that accompanied the steak were both delicious. I had heard mixed reviews of Ten since it opened but I was very happy with the meal I had there.

    So disappointed. We have tried the bar menu twice now and both times our food was cold and hard as if it had been sitting a while. In fact our food was delivered to a shelf close to where we were sitting until someone had time to deliver it. It did not taste well, it tasted old. The wine is always great. Although our server did not administer a proper wine presentation, which we would have appreciated.

    Go to Walkers or head to Jakes! We had been to the bar before, but not the dining room - so gave it a try. Overall, just mediocre experience. The waitress was nice, but there was an air of body odor and it was not coming from our table. The meal was COLD from appetizer to steak to hot??? Apple crisp. The New York strip steak was grisly - didn't think you could find one that way; the fried mac cheese had no flavor. A VERY bland event for the taste buds. Ambience was nice, but food not a quality value for the Price!

    This review is for the bar, to include food from the full menu: I've been here three times now over the course of two months, and I have had a very pleasant experience every time. The bartenders Trevin, Rae, and Greg are all wonderful, kind, and fun to talk with (sorry if I'm butchering the spellings of your names!). They also each provided guidance and offered suggestions about the drinks and food on the very ample menu. I've had the salmon (excellently prepared and had a really delicious accompaniment), the pecan-crusted pork loin (also excellent and was a favorite), the Caesar salad I've had twice and I love that the romaine is not cut up for you but more of an event than Caesar salads usually are! I've also had the desserts: the donut thing which is crazy good, but super filling. I still ate the whole damn thing by myself. I also had the shortbread dessert that wasn't bad, but I'd not order that again. Disappointing. On one night during one of my trips, they had live, classical music, which really added to the ambience of the bar itself. Which, incidentally, is really beautiful. While sitting at the bar the restaurant is located just across from the bar seating area. The restaurant ambience is striking! It's hard to believe that one is in Billings Montana. However the staff is not at all pretentious, as one may expect from such a high-end looking environment. Lastly, the cocktail menu offers a lot of fun drinks, there's a very comprehensive wine list, and I enjoyed trying local brewery beers. Of course, I plan to come back during my visits to the Billings area and I highly recommend TEN bar or restaurant, (unless of course you're someone who just orders a bowl of Mac and cheese when you dine out).

    TEN I wanted to love you. The idea of you is awesome. Unfortunately TEN comes off as just another montana steak and potato place that is attempting to be fancy so they can up charge you. The first visit they were out of chorizo for the paella, my steak was over cooked and the waitress was short on patience. The 2nd time; out of chorizo again...My steak was raw and my potatoes had hair in them! The 3rd time they were no longer making the chorizo and instead put duck in the paella! It is not paella w/o chorizo.

    This was probably the best high end restaurant I found while in Billings, which doesn't say a lot. Cesaer salad was nice. Dessert OK. The main course was overcooked, cold, inedible. Their diner was much much better.

    Staying in the hotel so stopped in for drinks. Nothing too fancy but okay just for a few drinks. Our waitress was a little lacking. They had a guitar player (it was a Friday night) that was nice.
