This was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had since moving to the area. I'd looked forward to coming here because it looks great and is in a good area, which would suggest the quality would follow suit. We were sold on the crab fondue special. It was more of a tough crab cake and tasteless. In a party of three, we each ordered steaks. Not one was cooked correctly. When the server came by to check on how things were cooked, we were honest and told him they weren't cooked correctly. He made a joke and moved on choosing to do nothing about it. It should have been clear when three almost complete steaks were left behind on our table that we didn't enjoy them. At least the $70 bottle of wine we had was good. The 1 star is for the friendly manager who seated us and came by to say she was leaving about mid-meal. Can't imagine coming back here. Will have to keep looking for my fix in the area elsewhere.

Really not worth the high price. My rib eye was $30 and lacked any flavor, I could have bought a better one at WalMart for $7. The Cajun pizza was good and the hot bread was also on point. I wouldn't come back or recommend anyone spend the money to try this place. I don't eat cheesecake but the ones at my table who dud said it was some of the best they ever had. They get cakes from a special bakery in Mississippi and they are supposed to be the best. I ordered the strawberry cake and was later told they were out.

I went with my boyfriend and my parents for a birthday dinner. The place looks great. They obviously put a lot of money into it. The staff was very friendly. Mom ordered two appetizers - crab cakes and a prime-rib pizza. The crab cake appetizer only came with two. The prime-rib pizza was okay. Nothing to write home about. If Chili's did a prime-rib pizza this is what it would taste like. Plus, it wasn't cut very well. For the price, I would expect everything to be perfect. For the entrees, I ordered a filet and loaded baked potato. The filet was magnificent. However, the baked potato was far from being worth $6. It was large with cheddar cheese, bacon, butter, sour cream, and enough chives to choke a horse. They didn't put enough butter and sour cream in the potato for its size, so it was pretty dry. Mom ordered prime-rib and cajun grits. Again, the prime-rib was excellent, but the grits were just okay. Dad ordered lobster tails and lobster mac and cheese. He loved the tails, but the mac and cheese was okay. My boyfriend ordered chicken with garlic mashed potatoes. He said it was good, but wasn't worth $25. I guess they can do protein really well, but not side dishes. Our bill was $260 including two desserts and a bottle of wine. I just don't feel we got an experience worthy of that.

Worst steak I've ever eaten in Memphis. Cold dry and no flavor. Waste of money. Customer service was okay. Not coming back.

This is a fancy looking place w/ more than fancy pricing. Atmosphere - Exposed brick, woods, leather seating, booths, table & chairs, high ceilings, gentrified warehouse feel. Food - I ordered the mesquite fillet and sweet potato fries w/ a mixed green salad starter. The salad was just "ok". A setting of mixed greens, green apples, blue cheese, walnuts and a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I must say, for some reason, I think, the now in Chapter 11, Max & Erma's restaurant chain has this dish down pat....so take note Mesquite Chophouse. In this presentation, I miss the walnuts being candied because I feel it balances out the flavors. The main dish, the fillet, was tender in being prepared medium as requested. Unfortunately, for me, the mesquite smoke gave the fillet a Hickory Farms taste for which I am not a fan. The sweet potato fries, were too thin and had a highly refined cinnamon and sugar coating. If they were going for sweet, I would have actually preferred them being coated w/ honey, a presentation that I had once in Chicago. Service - Our server was pleasant but not spectacular. She did not seem that attentive because see never made an inquiry as to whether our steaks were cooked to liking. The Chef (possible owner) did stop by at the end of the meal but by that time I was already kind of blah with the experience. Overall - I hope they do well as I always like to see the small business guy survive. However, as for me, due to the higher than standard pricing I do not believe I will be back.

I was in southaven ms and asked for a recommendation. I was told this was the best steakhouse in town. I guess I happen to ask the owners wife (not really....I don't think). I saw the reviews and was a little stand offish but went anyways. Sat at the bar and i will say they have put some $ in the place. Also the staff was great. I figure 1 star for the facility and 1 star for the staff. That is where it ends. I love me some steak and I ordered a 6 oz filet. The steak was dry and well sucked. I hate to bash any place as it is obviously someones dream and way to make a living but really it wasn't good. For the price it was a joke. Sorry but I can't recommend at all. Go to longhorns at least their steaks suck and are price accordingly.

What a sad direction this place has gone in the last two years.....not surprisingly since the departure of Josh and the original management. We were regular customers, and have never missed a New Year's Eve here. Not anymore. My last meal was the quality of a Longhorn Steakhouse. The staff was inept, and unaware. This place used to be on par with Folks Folly and Ruth's Chris....it's now at the level of a TGI Fridays or Outback. Sad, sad, sad.

While the meals tend to be a little pricey, the food was delicious. I had the twelve ounce ribeye steak with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. The steak was done to order and was great. I have to admit, there are places that compare on quality of food for less money, but it was still a great experience.

The food is very tasty, I think I'd put this place at 3.5 stars. I'm surprised that the rating is so low. I like the food, the service is decent but the menu does seem slightly pricy for what you're getting. I travel to Memphis for business every other week & do look forward to eating at this restaurant. I would recommend it.

First experience at the chophouse with a group of my husbands colleagues and it was a very nice atmosphere. Servers were always there to fill drinks and offer more bread though we came after 8pm and not very many people were left. The food was okay. For the price I wouldn't bring anyone here. The bacon shrimp appetizer was good. The side house salad was drenched with dressing, wish the dressing was put on the side. I got the 8 oz steak stuffed with blue cheese which had good flavor but the steak needed more seasoning or char. All the sides are a la cart so my husband got a baked potato we split which I like eating the skin with my potato and there was no salt or seasoning on the whole potato. The best part of the meal was dessert, turtle cheesecake was delightful.

Great food, but overpriced -everything is a la carte. The only reason I went here was because I had a gift card. I understand you're paying for the ambience, but I'm a no-frills kind of guy when it comes to dining. As long as the food is high quality, freshly prepared, and delicious, I'm all set. That said, if I want a great steak, I'll head down to Como Steakhouse!

Decent steak at a high premium price. I went there on account of a business function mid week. The service was a bit slow and the food was ok, but nothing that you should expect when averaging 50 per person. It could work for a business function, but if you are looking to maximize your value, I would consider this an average at best spot.
