We tried this place on recommendation of travel channel. We were SORELY disappointed. We got sampler platter, wings, nachos, and sausage sandwhich..EVERYTHING was dry and overcooked. There was no seasoning on any of it..even dripping in sauce all the meat was dry and hard..ribs were NOT tender. The service was just as bad. Apparently after we got our food our waitress clocked out. No one ever came back and gave us refills, offered us dessert, or even gave us our check. We had to go ask and they KNEW she left but never sent anyone to check on us. They don't care at all about their customers. I wouldn't spend one penny there again and recommend u find a better bbq place to visit.

I had been waiting to eat here since I saw the neeleys on food network. The bbq was really good. Probably close to 5 stars. The restaurant is probably closer to 3 stars. Not dirty just really dated. All in all I thought the food was good enough and I will be back!

Hey, now! I don't know what's up with these bad reviews. I was born and raised in the Memphis area, and this is my favorite casual BBQ joint, by far. To me, Interstate BBQ is the epitome of Memphis BBQ. The original location is the best, but when you're in the neighborhood... Hiding out in an old Pizza Hut, this unassuming spot has the best pulled pork sandwich you will ever try. It's saucy and messy, and is served on a white bread sandwich bun which will probably fall apart by the time you finish it. Perfection. Get your sandwich with the slaw on it, or ask for it on the side. The beans are pretty good, but you're missing out if you don't get the BBQ spaghetti. There's nothing in the world like it. True comfort food. This isn't five star dining, y'all. Don't get anything fancy. Keep it simple and cheap. This is Memphis style BBQ, after all.

On my BBQ tour while in Memphis. My coworkers and I decided to stop in. I had the small Pork rib platter with baked beans and potato salad. The meal was pretty good. The ribs were seasoned, the sauce was just right, not too sweet and not too tangy. The baked beans and potato salad complemented the ribs. The sweet tea was just right.

Hole in the wall in a converted old Pizza Hut, but cheap prices and delicious BBQ!!!!! Not fine dining, and a little divey, but food was excellent. Get the ribs!!!!

I have no idea where the poor reviews are coming from either. The staff has always been friendly and the bbq pulled pork sandwich is always huge and delicious. I love swinging through the Stateline location south of the airport for a to-go order on my way south to Mississippi.

This location is OK. Hit or miss depending on the day and the freshness of the food. Invariably the service will be stupid or worse. Shouldn't let unsupervised kids run a restaurant. I much prefer other BBQ joints around town.

Beef ribs where great. Service was good and I will be back. I really wish I would have got try more things on the menu. But they give you enough food to take home and I'm a big guy.

Memphis bbq redeemed itself here after a poor experience earlier in the day. As always interstate seems to delivery some high quality cuts of meat that deliver with some top notch taste. This was my first time at the Southhaven location. I ordered that rib tips. Was this was a lot of food for the price. I was really happy my friends wanted to go here after a disappointing trip to another Memphis bbq staple other in the day. I payed 33% less here with 500% more flavor and a ton more value. I do think the Interstate has became my go to bbq whenever I am in the Memphis area.

Came south to visit family and eat one of my favorite foods, BBQ. Food was good but the presentation was lacking. Rib tips came on a large plate with nothing but tips swimming in sauce. Not appetizing to look at and tough to eat. Wait staff was great but I'm not used to the table cleanup staff rolling out a cart to throw the dishes in. That was followed with a broom and dust pan. I will not be back.

Tried the rib plate and OMG!....I ate it for 2 days. They give you sooooo much food. Some of the rib tips were a little tough but they were still tasty. The baked beans and potato salad were pretty good too.

Interstate! That's what this place is called. I couldn't remember. Anyways, my healthy self ordered turkey. Shut up. Don't judge me! It was real good too! The slaw was great! Had a lil kick to it. I like kick! :D And the beans.....awwhhhhhh! I love them beans with the meat and so sweet! Mmmm. Loved it. Now...why 3 stars? I'll tell you why 3 stars! No matter how you present white bread to me as a side dish (sliced on a diagonal, stacked) I don't want it and I won't eat it. There was no mention of white bread with my meal. Take that mess back. Don't want it. Also, I asked for lemon with my water. My waitress said something about lemon packets on the table the 1st time but I didn't hear her. When I asked her a second time, she said they are on the table. I look over toward the wall...sure enough...lemon juice packets. Whaaaat? Who does that? I don't want preservatives in my lemon juice! I want a slice of lemon. See....that's why Ima take my ass back to California where everything grows....shoot....I can pick a lemon off a neighbor's tree....if my boyfriend doesn't Lebron James smackdown block me from reachin one......triflin'. :/ Service wasn't all that great. Like they don't really curr. That's fine. I had a good tasting meal and I didn't get sick. That's all I really pray for. Like Drake says, "No new friends, no new friends, no new friends no-no-no." LMAO! I know I'm crazy for that one.....LMAO! Toodles Yelpers!

My fiance and I just returned from a trip to New Orleans. Since Memphis is about the halfway point, we decided to stop there for lunch and barbeque naturally came to mind. We checked a couple of reviews and decided to get off at Presley Blvd. to try Marlowe's. Unfortunately, Marlowes is only open for dinner so we go down the street to Pollards. We had some pork and beef combo platter that we ate.... Oh well, this wasn't one of our recommended places so we just chalked it up to experience and moved on. On the way back we had more time to plan so we decided to try Neely's Interstate bbq on State Line Rd. We decided on the beef and pork combo platter with two sides. Our server was adamant about our choice not being enough food so we went with her suggestion. She brought a platter of ribs and meat and sides. At first our eyes grew wide but it didn't take long for the excitement to wear off. Beyond the portions, there really wasn't much to be excited about. In fact, underwhelming would be the word I would use. If BBQ is supposed to be the specialty in Memphis, we've certainly missed the mark. The sausage was perhaps the most disgusting we've ever tasted. The sliced pork and beef, while not terrible was just eh. The ribs were certainly nothing to ooh or ahh over either. In a word...keep on driving if you see the sign. And, please, if there really is great BBQ in Memphis, please tell us where it is because we certianly couldn't find it! I know I'll be back this way but for now I had a very underwhelming experience of Memphis barbeque. We wrote this together.

One of the big four of Memphis BBQ... except this one is across the border in Mississippi with the suburbia nightmarish gridlock of Southhaven. Its a hole-in-the-wall - old and converted fast food joint. But I digress from the important stuff - the BBQ. The ribs were extra meaty (and fatty!), wet with sauce. I personally prefer dry rub with sauce on the side, but I can appreciate wet ribs. Personally, I thought their ribs were too drenched rather than lightly brushed with sauce. Still delicious though! Potato salad and slaw were good. I would have liked some cornbread or biscuits, but the slices of plain white bread were good for dipping. Sweet tea was definitely needed for some sugar and caffeine to balance out the food coma. Half rack (e.g., large plate) was $9.50, and everything runs around $10.

I enjoyed my food at the Interstate Bar B Que. The service was friendly, and the price was just right. If you like sauce on your sandwich, I would say that you should ask for extra, because I did not get a lot of sauce on mine. I liked this restaurant much better than its counterpart down the street... (The Opposite of Bottom's)

I am an Interstate FAN, make no mistake. But my previous (and preferred) experience has only been with the one I take to be the orginal, in Memphis. Here, I was greatly pleased with the meats, themselves: this go-round, I ordered a big combo/sampler. Loved the slaw! Loved the beans! I want to take a gallon back in a cooler, next time I'm up. (And I had leftovers for lunch today!) But the downside was dessert. The "peach cobbler," served in a plastic container (though I specifically noted "for here"), was part cold, part warm, and wholly UN-good. The thin juice in which it was awash had a cloying sweetness that I can only liken to something along the lines of rosewater (which works just fine in, say, Lebanese desserts) or, sad to say, the juice from really cheap fruit cocktail. The breading was thrown together...the peaches themselves had a "can taste." I refuse to believe it's made in house...but if so, they need to stick to the ribs and such and leave desserts A-LONE. I know I will. It was an unpleasant way to cap off a VERY PLEASANT meal. In fact, the only reason I came to Memphis that day (rode with a friend, for kicks) was to hit up Interstate. So the dessert experience, alone, is why I knocked off some stars. I think I'll go to the old one, next time, even though that would have added to our drive time in this case. So, my advice? Eat here if you want good BBQ. But DESERT the DESSERT!

Interstate Bbq @ Southhaven Was Very Disappointing. I Visited This Place On The Forth Expecting Memphis Best But Was Soon Let Down When I Waited In Line For What Seem Like Forever. When We Got The Food The Ribs Were Huge. I Ask For Beef But I ReallY Cant Say What It Was. Gross. Waste Of time And Time

Goo food and lots of it. If you like yours dry, mustard/vinegar slaw, and creamy potatoe salad, then come on down. The service here is sllooooooowwwww so do not be in a hurry or you will be agitated. PS did I say this place is cheap for the amount of food you get! Cheers
