Friendly to vegetarians?: If you look hard enough, yes. Tequilas is one of my go to restaurants in Oxford for a quick lunch. Staff is friendly, quick service and food delivery, there is always a table and never a wait. There is a small selection of vegetarian items to chose from including a vegetarian quesadilla and fajitas, all of which are delicious.

Though the service was decent, the food was bland and I left with more than 75% of the food still on the plate. The only redeeming factor is that they have the best refried beans I've tasted at a Mexican restaurant in Oxford

If I could give less than one star, I would. Went to Tequilas for a relatively quick lunch, or at least I thought it would be! After 10 minutes, our server asked what we wanted to drink, we told him and then proceeded to order our food. He said we could only order drinks now and food in a few minutes. What????? Who does that. Hey, at least we got a basket of chips to curb our appetite before we left for a place that actually appreciates customers. Needless to say, we will not be back! I'll stick with Papitos!

This is gloppy cheese Texmex. I mean it is not terrible, but no way is this 4 or 5 stars. Maybe 2.5. This is not real Mexican food.

"Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain..." And that's exactly how I felt when I went to eat here Friday night, May 8th, 2015, emphasis on the date, as it will live in infamy, service non existent. Mind you, if I wanted fast food I'd go to mcdonalds, but this was crazy! I had to flag down our waiter who seemed to be preoccupied with who knows what, as he just kept walking back and forth IN FRONT OF OUR TABLE not taking time to even give me a passing glance. When he finally got our drink order he brought them to us than walked away again and this time we couldn't find him. So when he gave us a minute of his time for us to order he was gone again. Waited 15+ minutes which if fine but Mexican restaurants are usually a lot quicker. And of course, the food was the topper. Bland, under cooked veggies in a bland deep fried shell that the menu said would have cheese in. Raw deer skin is easier to tear apart. Fish tacos were "interesting..." I'll let Bourdain's brilliance describe that it because I don't curse...anyway, that was the first whack. I always give a second chance...

Their queso/cheese dip is okay, definitely better than most. P5 sounded good but the meat was chewy and after a few bites, I felt like throwing up. Won't be returning any time soon. There was no music, so it was very quiet in the restaurant. Despite there being absolutely NO ONE here, they made us sit right behind another table.

LITERALLY THE NASTIEST FOOD I HAVE EVER EATEN IN MY LIFE. The food had no flavor at all and the "chicken" was soo gooey and almost looked like cat food. Terrible service. do not eat here. you will regret it.

Busy restaurant in a strip center. The people coming in and people trying to pay at the register, got all tangled up the whole time I was there. It was pretty nice decor, though needed some repairs. Didn't like store bought type chips and thin salsa. The fajita chicken quesadilla looked good and was very tasty. It didn't look or taste like other quesadillas I have had. For the first time ever, I liked restaurant refried beans and rice. The taco salad came sitting in a pool if water. The meat had no seasoning and looked only like grey ground beef. The waiter said all their taco salads were like that, the water from washing the lettuce. There was a little lettuce, a slice of tomato on top of grey meat, and a huge dollop of guacamole and sour cream. If they had good chips and salsa, I would have given them 4 stars. The Chicken Fajita Quesadilla was something I would like again. Employees don't speak much English, so don't bother to complain.

These are the same people who run La Perla Tapatia up in Collierville, TN. The owners are originally from Mexico and their menu is driven from recipes that "Grandmother used to make." The menu is exactly the same as La Perla, but the food is better at the Oxford location. My fish was simmered in garlic just like the menu said and the rice was nice and fluffy. I would come here again the next time I'm in Oxford.

Earlier this year when I was back home visiting, I had the taste for some mexican food. I would've preferred El Charro's but they were going through renovations and what not. We went to Papito's and they were extremely packed, so we decided to just change it up and go to Tequila's. Many of my friends and fam had been to Tequila's more than once, but I had never been because El Charro's was my favorite. Anyway, when we got there we were seated by this extremely rude waiter. He seemed really irritated and just gave off the vibe that he didn't want to be there. He didn't check up on us and when I was finally able to get his attention to ask him for a refill, he looked at me as if I was inconveniencing him. He is by far the worst waiter I've ever crossed paths with anywhere. The food however was ok. I had the shrimp chimichanga(my favorite)and it was just ok. I've had it better at other establishments. I don't think I'll be returning here again.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
