The beef brisket sandwich plate, at $12, was very good. The brisket was a bit dry, but the bbq sauce given with the order more than made up for it. I ordered coleslaw and fries as sides. The coleslaw had good flavor and was not over-dressed. The fries, however, were undercooked and too greasy. They also tasted like they were frozen for a while before being cooked. Overall, the food was great and I would recommend that the fries be dodged - perhaps substituting the baked beans instead. The atmosphere was nice, with the decor resembling many southern restaurants with plenty of folk art and pigs thrown into the mix because, hey, it's a bbq joint. Blues music was playing at a low volume in the background. The overall ambiance was excellent and I felt at home.

We had dinner here a Monday night and there were several locals. The place is in an old way, with a saw hanged in the wall, large booths and some old event posters. The food is quite good. I had the pulled pork which is good, we also tried the ribs that were good too. The beef basket was a bit over-cooked. The fries and the cole slaw were good too. The place offers an authentic experience and is worth the stop!

Delicious! I enjoy sniffing (literally!) out barbeque places on my travels and it was easy to find Pig Out Inn Barbeque in Natchez. I was tickeled to discover they offered one of my new favorite microbrewed beers--Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan. Definitely worth stopping here if you are in Natchez.

My wife and I ordered the chicken plate and beef brisket plate. Both came somewhat dry. Not sure if they were under a heat lamp but appeared to be slightly overcooked. The bbq sauce was not my favorite as it was more tomato based, but that is a personal taste. Otherwise it was pretty good if that is your style. The fries were very good as were the baked beans. Corn on the cob was grilled and carried a smokey flavor. We liked the atmosphere as it felt very local. Price wise we felt it was a bit on the high side based on prices we've seen in Memphis and North Carolina. Our vote would not be for a return trip to pig out inn, but we may have just been unlucky with our choice of food.

We stopped in here last weekend (April 12, 2014) after a day trip to Natchez. The Pig Out is apply named as there are pigs everywhere from the front entrance to the bathrooms. I guess with a name like the Pig Out, I shouldn't have ordered brisket. Brisket is my go to bbq choice so that's what I got. The brisket plate comes with an ample portion of brisket, and 2 sides(beans and slaw for me). The brisket was smoked but was rather flavorless. They had a bottle of their homemade bbq sauce on the table so that made up for the lack of flavor. The slaw was pretty good as it was not drenched in mayo. The beans were the star of this culinary production. They were smokey(like I wanted the brisket to be) with just a hint of sweet. Great! Beyond great they were perfect! The atmosphere is exactly as you would expect from a BBQ joint. Simple decor with a little bit of funkiness. The old doors for tables were kind of cool touch. I'll definitely come back but next time I will try the pulled pork because it's not called Cow Out Inn.

Was in town for business and found this place on yelp. The pulled pork was moist, tender, and very favorable. The portion was generous and the meat was not "over smoked". The sauce was provided on the side and was tangy with just the right heat. I choose the potato salad and baked beans. The potato salad was some of the best is ever had. The beans were great also. I'll be back when in town.

Really fast service! If you're looking for a run of the mill BBQ joint in the south, this is your spot! I didn't personally try the ribs, but my neighbors to the left and right had them, and they looked to die for! I tried the pulled pork and it was excellent. The restaurant reminds me of home with its relaxed atmosphere and good home cooking. Great little ma n' pa joint to try if you're stopping through the city and want a bite of the south!

Whoahhh! Awesome! Real deal BBQ! I had the pulled pork BBQ sandwich (they toasted the bun) with potato salad and baked beans, and iced tea. I wolfed it down. Was AWESOME! Especially the potato salad, AWESOME! Really, really good. The brisket looked good too. Bathroom was spotless. Service, very friendly. Walked out of there feeling satisfied. Great lunch spot.

  • K M.

By far the BEST pulled pork I've ever had! Everyone was very friendly. If you're in town, you need to try this BBQ joint. The BBQ sauce itself is an added bonus-yum!

Great bbq, great place. This is my favorite bbq resturant in Mississippi/Louisiana hands down. Never had a bad meal and always stop when passing through.

I thought it was ok. The service was fast but the fries were cold and the beans didn't seem fresh.

I was not impressed with the food. I got the house special which was a sandwich with 2 sides and a drink. I chose the turkey sandwich with curly fries and corn on the cobb. The turkey was sliced turkey sandwich meat that you buy in the grocery store but with a smoked taste. The fries were not fresh cold and a greenish color. I guess an old potato was used and the corn needed to be roasted a bit longer, actually they should try using sweet corn. The best thing about the whole meal was the price. Then again maybe not!

Great bbq. I had the brisket plate with baked beans & man n cheese. It was priced very well for the amount of food I got and their sauce was spot-on. Service was also very friendly.

Small place loaded with pig décor. You order at the counter and wait for your name to be called. The main dining room is small and those standing in line to order can reach down into your plate and help themselves. So we decided to eat in the second dining area which had no one in there. The tables are old doors which seem like a cool concept but there's no way the nooks and crannies can be cleaned. So if you can get pass that, the food is pretty good..... the baked beans are OMG good! I had the pulled port sandwich and potato salad. The beans by far had the best flavor. The rest of the food didn't have much flavor.

We read the reviews of previous patrons. Our expectations were high. Not disappointed. One order was the beef brisket sandwich, the other was a pulled pork sandwich. Mouth wateting excellent, both. Hated to take the last bite and be finished. Potato salad very tasty. We liked the warmed BBQ sauce too. Would definitely stop again.

This unassuming barbecue joint just off of the main strip in Natchez is a great location to grab a quick bite. When I went there on a Sunday there were plenty of locals coming in which is a great sign for any place. I go there just before the rush which seemed to be coming in after Church Services because everyone was pretty dressed up. The smell of this place is enough to pull you in off the street with that great mixture of woodchips, smoking meat, and carmelized sugars and barbecue sauce. I had the brisket sandwich with two sides of baked beans and corn salad. I was very happy with everything. The brisket was tasty and almost literally melted in your mouth. The beans and corn salad were very tasty as well. I tried several of the different sauces and they were all pretty delicious. I'd highly recommend it if you're in Natchez.

First let me say I'm from Louisiana and we love our smoked meats. This was an average place. You typical hole in the wall. The staff was pleasant but didn't get any smiles from this group. I had the pulled pork which was good but not great. The sauce provided was also just ok. I would eat here again but its not a 3 or 5 star place.

    (2)
  • Shannon J.

While I love BBQ, this was a bit sub par, only because I really did not like the fact that my meat was pink... Other than that everything is quite cute, and very homey... But way too tight around dinner time.

  • Ryan C.

The food was so-so. I have had better at Dickey's. The potato salad was the best thing we had. Very good. But the brisket was a little dry and under smoked, the same with the pulled pork. The ribs were great. Still not the best I have had but worth getting. And the turkey was stable. A little hammy from the salt cure but good flavor. The sauce is excellent. I would go again if I lived there, but wouldn't go out of my way or plan a meal around it. Probably best on a busy night. We went on a Friday and it wasn't packed or slow. I guess I expected more.

I'd go back to the Pig Out, but I wouldn't go back to Natchez just to go back. Passing through town, my wife and I stopped at the Pig Out Inn for dinner. Between us, we had the pulled pork, brisket, and smoked chicken, with baked beans and corn salad. The baked beans were amazing. I don't even LIKE baked beans, typically. I'll eat a few bites most often to try them, then lose interest. I nearly licked the plate clean with these. The corn salad was really interesting. I'd not encountered it as a dish before, so I can't compare it to any other corn salad. It had beans in it, and a bunch of other stuff - the net result was a pleasant, fresh taste (not wholly unlike black bean/corn salsa). The in-house bbq sauce was good. Not phenomenal, but it had a good flavor, which is good because... The meat was all sub-par. I don't know if it was cooked too hot, or too long, but virtually all of the meat had the same dried-out flavorless luster I've come to expect from the vast majority of bbq joints. Out of the three, the pork was definitely best. They had prepackaged tarts for sale, and we tried the buttermilk and the sweet potato. We consumed them significantly later in the day and they were good--much better pie crust than you usually get (from anywhere, really), and the filling was decent. The buttermilk pie was a lot like Amish sugar cream pie, which I always want to have a little more going on (like...some strawberries, or something), and the sweet potato was good but a little bland (would have been better with some distinct notes of allspice/cinnamon/nutmeg). Overall, I can only give the Pig Out three stars, because the meat should be the star of any bbq dinner, and this meat couldn't star in community theater.

I had hi hopes for some southern pulled pork, but it wasn't even pulled it was clever chopped not tender and wasn't falling apart, very disappointing. The ribs were good tho with quite a bit of meat on them I love the barbecue sauce that was the only thing that saved the rating on here

  • William P.

I'm from memphis and I will say this is the best BBQ I have ever had..I work on a steamboat and I had a chance to go to this restaurant and I will say its worth the walk and being hungry helps. And the baked beans were so good.

  • Chip W.

The smell of this place is my idea of Heaven on earth! Mmmmm Mmmmm! My wife had the turkey sandwich w/ sides of black bean & corn salad and baked beans. She was pleased with everything she ordered. I had 2 meat combo of brisket and hot sausage. I'm not so pleased. But I'm picky about BBQ, being from Texas. It just OK tasting... No rub and very small smoke ring makes me think they finish it in oven, not in smoker. But it's a nice place with good people, atmosphere and good tea and cold beer and Blue Bell ice cream so worth going to again. Locals and travelers rave about it, so don't mind me... Worth it to make up your own mind!

I heard that this place was good and I passed it many times so I decided to drop in and try it. Oh my goodness!!!! So so delicious! They have a special. You can get a sandwich with two sides and a drink for $10.00 and it is plenty of food. I got the pulled pork sandwich and it was smoky and tender. The BBQ sauce was flavorful with a hint of heat, and the baked beans oh those beans!!!!! You could taste the smoke in them and it was perfect. The sauce in the beans was so good. There was a little heat and a hint of smoke and not a bunch of extra junk in the beans like onions and peppers. My other side was the potato salad, and it was as delicious as the rest. If you like BBQ... Go!!! You won't be disappointed.

  • P M.

So good ate there twice during one trip and took some home too!!! Had a plate of ribs, chicken & turkey. All so tender, and the turkey sliced so thin and delicious. The sauce is sweet, tangy and soooo good. The beans are like none we've tasted before - better than all!. The restaurant has cool tables - made of old wooden doors with glass on top, with plenty of seating. Returned and got brisket sandwiches (a little pricier than some, but well worth it!!!) Absolutely no fat - just how I like it - and piled high. Will definitely go back on our next trip. If you love good barbeque, give it a try! :)

Ribs good but I ordered potato salad and beans on a takeout order Surprise I received coleslaw beans & ribs Sully service on Saturday evening at 5:00 and NO other customers Come on guys pick it up a notch or two

One of the best BBQ places in town! Never had a bad experience here, usually just get it to go. Would recommend to anyone!

  • Lauren A.

You know, it's not a fancy spot and the ambience leaves a little something to be desired, but the BBQ is warm and delicious, and you don't have to wait long to get it. The two-meat plate with sides and a couple pecan beers came to around $20, and it was plenty for two hungry peoples' lunches.

  • Danny B.

My wife and I both ordered the pulled pork sandwich. It was pretty good. We both ordered it covered with slaw. Their BBQ sauce was pretty good, however I'm more of a mustard/vinegar BBQ sauce person. The Baked Beans and Potato Salad were great! We showed up around lunch on a Friday. There was only one car in the parking lot when we arrived, but by the time we left there was a line of people ordering food. I would definitely go back.

I hope they just had an "off' night,, BUT,,, Our two dinners sat on their plates for 5 minutes behind the order taker as she was far more interested in "new" customers than getting our orders to us. PS - IT WAS NOT BUSY! This was at 5pm and 5 empty tables. There was only one person ordering in front of us. Finally, another waitress showed up and we got our now cold curly fries. I've had better Pulled Pork at Outlaws, Hog Wild and Eddie's BBQ here in Alexandria, LA. The baked beans were "canned" with too much pepper added. The slaw was Blah and the tater salad was flavorless too, and VERY chunky... Prices were kinda as expected for a "touristy" town, $10.75, so two substandard plastic plates with so-so food was over $26 with drinks... BUT what was not expected was a HAIR in my wife's dinner at the very last bite. Needless to say, we did not want to offend the party who took us there, so no outrage on our part, but We won't be eating there again..... Oh, and if drive a "low rider", DO NOT attempt to park in their provided spots... The "street" is now 5 inches higher than their pull-in spots. Our suv was OK, but a 911 would have scraped badly...

I've eaten at Pig Out Inn twice when I've been in Natchez, and I've loved it both times. I'd rank it up there with the more famous BBQ places in Kansas City in Memphis (to be exact, Oklahoma Joe's in KC & BBQ Shop in Memphis are the only to BBQ places I've eaten at that I've enjoyed more). The ribs were fantastic, and the brisket was awesome. The sauce here is incredible- it is by far my favorite BBQ sauce I've had. I actually mail order sauce from here occasionally. If you stop by, make sure to get a Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan beer with your meal- it just goes great with barbecue.

  • Robert A.

We were in Natchez last week. Ate here twice. I think these were the best Ribs I'd ever had. Really, Really Good!!! The BBQ sauce could have had a little more body, but the taste was very good.

Pig Out is on my list of semi-regular spots. I go here when I get the craving for a smoked turkey sandwich, Black Bean and Corn salad and their Potato Salad. They have real brewed tea and their BBQ sauce is served hot in a squeeze bottle for your drizzling pleasure. While you're there check out their wall of "What I Love About The South" along with some pretty cool old pictures and other memorabilia.

Very good. Every time i'm in Natchez I get a beef brisket sandwich from here. It's always yummy.

While we were in Natchez we had a few good meals. This was a place recommended by the locals. Which is almost always a good thing. We weren't sure where exactly we'd end up for lunch but by our good fortune we bumped right into it when were out exploring. The food was delish! Some of the best brisket i've ever had. Pulled pork was very yummy as well. If you're anywhere near by i suggest EATING THERE. You won't be disappointed! The atmosphere is awesome, completely over the top and hilarious. The bathrooms didn't disappoint either. It's not too often I take pics of a bathroom. But, this isn't a a place that makes up for lousy food with over the top decor. The food well out shines everything. Finger licking delish! I wish I'd bought a t-shirt. PLEA to the OWNERS - Please, pretty please open a location in the New Orleans area!

    (5)
  • James B.

Not as good as your average gas station BBQ. The atmosphere was good as were the service and the sides but dry pulled pork was a disappointment.

Mm mmm... Dry rub. Full rack, each one falling right off the bone. If you have one meal in Natchez, make it a Pig Out!

    (5)
  • Mary Jo S.

We have been reading about the Pig Out for a few weeks now; there were so many things we wanted to try and so many reviews raving about everything on the menu. I had the pulled pork sandwich with the most wonderful smoky baked beans and potato salad and the husband had the brisket dinner. I had a Southern Pecan beer, yes beer that was tasty and even went well with the pecan pie tartlett. Service is great and I would like to say one more time the smoky beans are wonderful. I heard they smoke the corn on the cob and I will be going back for an ear before we head home to Denver.

  • Laura V.

This place was fantastic! The only reason I didn't give it (5) stars was because they weren't very friendly. We showed up minutes before closing time so maybe that's why they weren't better with the customer service. Although I don't think closing time is an excuse for anybody to have poor customer service. My husband and I had the brisket and it was outstanding. They gave us both more than we could eat. If we're ever in town we'll definitely go back. Run to this restaurant!

  • James T.

Decent BBQ, a bit over priced. I got the 2 meat plate and a drink and it was $20 something. Pork was OK. it is chopped not pulled like really good pork BBQ is. The briskit was actually awesome. it fell apart when you tried to eat it. never seen that before. Sauce was pretty good.

BBQ pulled pork was great. Great spot to get lunch whilst visiting Mississippi.

Wow! The best chopped brisket, baked beans & potato salad I've ever experienced.... & the sauce. Mmmmm. Not to be missed.

    (5)
  • Jenna H.

Best chicken sandwich ever! I don't mean grilled chicken, I mean fall-off-the-bone, chopped, tender chicken on a huge bun and BBQ sauce. It's the only thing I ordered, so it's hard to rate the place as a whole, but I would go back and try other things. There is plenty of indoor seating, and it's very casual with friendly employees. YUM!

Everybody in Natchez is a fan of the Pig Out Inn. Now, we are fans, too! Fantastic bbq, great sides and a heapin dose of southern hospitality! I had the sliced bbq beef plate and I swear, there was enough succulent fat free perfectly smoked beef on my plate to feed three people. I had the macaroni salad and slaw with it and took a ton home. I had a tiny sweet potato pie for desert. The decor is cute without being cloying. I thought it was a cross between a true bbq dive and a southern belle's fantasy of what that might look like! Loved it and we will be back! AND, they cater!

My wife and I have never been to Mississippi. Yet, we have had BBQ at many restaurants, and we love it. The Pig Out Inn Barbeque happens to be one of the most incredible finds. PLEASE EAT HERE! Zeke's from Los Angeles wishes their ribs tasted as good as this place. I had the BBQ Pork Ribs, and they were unbelievable, so tasty, and perfectly cooked! Their potato salad should go on the top 10 list in all of America. It has the delicate blend of dill, scallions, and whatever magical substance they have in there, I think I'd fly from California just to come eat here again. I'm a huge fan, and you must try their ribs and potato salad. in addition, the sweet helpful staff, and the artwork, ambiance, you will be glad you ate here, if you're looking for a fun atmosphere. It's not elegant dining, it's home cooking at its finest.

not bad for BBQ but I was expecting a lot more for Mississippi. Best part of meal: Warm BBQ sauce served in a bottle with every order!

So I have been back to Pig Out a few times since my first review and can say it is definitely hit or miss, but I think that is just BBQ in general. I have tried everything now and the meats are really good 90% of the time. The other 10% they seem to have been over smoked a dried out. I do not like any of their sides here though. I really wish that I could get Pig Out Inn's Meat with Big Momma's BBQ's sides.

Stumbled across the Pig Out Inn while visiting Natchez, we ran inside soaking wet to get out of the pouring rain and were greeted at the door with dry towels and hot coffee. We decided to stick around and take a look at the menu while we were waiting for the rain to pass and ordered a few pulled pork and BBQ brisket sandwiches as well as a pecan and sweet potato mini pie. Not only was the food delicious (I was told that the brisket sandwich was the best brisket this far) we were graciously offered the undercover patio seating despite the fact the restaurant was closing up. I can't remember the name of the employee/owner who took care of us, but it was obvious just how much pride he takes in this business. Be sure to stop in when in Natchez and enjoy some of the best BBQ you can buy, and support a young local businessman at the same time. Great show!

We went here a few years ago on a previous visit to Natchez, and it seems to me that it's gotten much better. The food this time was really good. Also just a nice vibe from the staff.

    (4)
  • John T.

I had their pulled pork sandwhich and some potatoe salad. The pork was pretty good, the potatoe salad was delicious, but for the serving size it was a bit over priced. I do like how I got a bottle of warm BBQ sauce with my food however, it does need a little more flavour added to it.

    (3)
  • Carey H.

All great, except beans and slaw. Beans need a recipe - like chopped onions, green pepper, and bacon bits baked in. Tasted like right out of can. Slaw needs something too - like celery salt, or onions, or better dressing. Meats are great, they know how to take care of a rush. I'll be back every time I'm in town. Don't miss this one!

Excellent place, eat here! Nice atmosphere, friendly people, clean, awesome restroom, oh and yes the food is wonderful. Great brisket, good sides.

    (4)
  • Linda N.

The BBQ here is okay. It's not the best we've ever had. Memphis joints are much better. It is a bit expensive for BBQ. The service is great and the place is cool but the food is only ok. There are better places to try. The food is bland so you end up dousing the meat in the sauce.

    (2)
  • Duane P.

I've eaten here a few times and although I've had better barbeque, its passable. The atmosphere is about what you'd want in a Mississippi barbecue joint. They play blues and the walls are covered with folk art and old photos, as I recall. They give you a squeeze bottle of warm, spicy sauce with your plate.

Awesome environment. Super friendly service and the food is superb and the price to match. A must-try in my book.

    (5)

Some of the best BBQ ever! The brisket is awesome and the links are out of this world! The black bean and corn stuff is great too! Go take a visit if in Natchez, MS.

  • Jack X.

I always like to make a stop at Pig Out Inn BBQ if I'm in Natchez or passing through the Natchez area. The BBQ itself is, like many people say, a tad overpriced with the portions being a tad skimpy. That, and the way most of the meat is cooked is rather uninspiring. The selling points, though, which bring my rating to a 4 star are the BBQ sauce (always worth picking up a bottle or two in the area), which is available warm and in copious supply with all meals, and the corn, which is awesome if you are a smoked corn fan (many are not, but I enjoy it). Another potential demerit for some is that there is only one free refill per customer. In short, pros: BBQ sauce, many side orders, the environment (list of things I like about the South is a fun read, and its painted on one of the walls), general "atmosphere" Cons: relatively expensive, meat portions are relatively skimpy, and seasoning is a tad bland, and potentially parking (very small private lot, but parking on the streets is usually not a problem).

Pig Out Inn was so good. For me and my girlfriend it was the brisket and the potato salad that got us hooked. Don't miss this spot if visiting Natchez.

We all got pulled pork sandwiches. This was the 2nd time eating here. The flavor of the sauce, served warm, is very good. The meat was a little dry. The coleslaw and beans are good.

Good BBQ. Decent variety. And ice cream for dessert. While Natchez, is limited on dining, the Pig Out Inn is a must-visit. Love the mural on the wall, celebrating all the wonderfulness of the South. Owners have done a great job with decor and vibe. It's even been featured in Southern Living. Not to worry though, it's down-to-earth good BBQ.

Ate here twice during a recent 4-day stay. Good food, and local beer, and great atmosphere.

  • Fred F.

Discovered this by accident. Nice location, not too silly inside. BBQ was just OK but what was really nice were the sides. Many were non-traditional takes on "normal" BBQ sides, such as a corn salad with cilantro. A bit high priced, but they probably have higher rent because of the location. Overall we were hard pressed to find decent food in Natchez so this was a refreshing discovery.

Four of us each had something different - we all raved about it! Delicious BBQ, neat quirky atmosphere.
