Love this place. Everything I've had here is good. I usually get the chicken pasta salad ($8) which comes with a bed of lettuce, some veggies, a sliced fresh chicken breast and a scoop of their pasta salad and a slice of grilled bread. It's so fresh and delicious esp with the balsamic. I usually have them add a deviled egg on as well. The paninis (avg $6) are equally good - we favor the turkey with romas, olive salad and fresh mozz. The ham and gouda is great, too. I imagine they all are but I can't break away from my favorites. Their fresh bread is the key. They also do a whole panini that serves 4-6 hungry people for $24.95 - that's a great deal and a great option for casual parties or tailgating. For the price, this is a keeper - freshly prepared, great tasting food at an affordable price.

Love me some Basil's! They also cater. Whatever you choose you cannot go wrong.

Try the bang bang chicken salad (romaine, chicken, peanuts) but get the comeback dressing with it! Save room for a peanut butter cookie

Wanted something to woo my mouth. So off to Basils I go!! I ordered the State St Pizza! Of course it was a tad bit pricey but at the same time well worth it!! The crust was the very light and full of flavor the ingredients were cooked perfectly to perfection!! As I wanted a mouth watering delicious meal! I got it!

This place is awesome! I had the veggie panini on homemade focaccia & tomato basil soup. Fresh ingredients & seasoned perfectly. Will definitely be back!

This is the spot when you want a special lunch, the panini selection is good, and the breads amazing. I recommend the #8.

The 904 Pizza was delicious... White Sauce, Spinach, Roasted Garlic, Italian Sausage & Pepperoni!

For Jackson, very pleasant place with good pizza. The State Street is a 12" pepperoni, bacon and sausage combo in tomato sauce. It does leave behind a greasy box, but if that worries you, you shouldn't eat pizza! The crust is hand made and fresh, the ingredients real and baked just right. I love the lettuce combo of the salad, packed full other ingredients. The focaccia was a disappointment, cold and tasteless, don't recommend it. Order at the counter, get a number to put to put on your table outside or in the common area of the building. Love the Fondren area!

I ate the Turkey Panini and the Chess Square for a late lunch!! They both were very tasty. I told the owner Michael he should name the Chess Bars; Holly Jesus or OMG. They are exceptional. Super lunch and great owner!

This is one of the best and most affordable restaurants you'll ever come across. I've recommended it too many times to count, I had them cater my wedding, and our visiting friends from out of town have described the "John Wayne" pizza they make as "Obscenely Delicious" and "Upsettingly Delicious", expressing a vague desire to kidnap the owner and head chef of the restaurants afterwards. Their customer service is great, and my wife and I could share a delicious pizza for the reasonable price of under $14,00, complete with exceptionally good dipping sauce, which led to it being one of the places I'd suggest the most whenever we were hungry and not up for cooking. You won't find a better pizza for the price within 100 miles of Jackson, and their paninis are likewise worth every penny. The owner of Basil's. Rooster's, and the Feathered Cow is also a great guy, who works harder than almost anyone else I know, and he has a gift for coming up with new and absolutely amazing food, which in turn he doesn't charge you an arm and a leg for. Nathan makes the restaurants not just a success, he keeps them affordable enough for the locals to come to on a regular basis. I've moved to Seattle, a great big city with a wealth of different restaurants, but I have yet to find another place like Basil's or Rooster's, and should I ever return to visit Jackson this will be on the short list of places I'll be eating.

The old location was actually open for business. The food was good, and had seating. I wouldn't know how to review this location since it may or may not be open for a few hours for lunch (they've always been closed when I go there). It's basically a broom-closet with no seating. What am I supposed to do, order a pizza and eat it in my car? They might as well install a drive-thru. Nope.

Basil's is always such a treat! I always get a soup and salad. Their tomato basil soup is fantastic, I highly recommend. They have a selection of beers and sandwiches as well. They don't stay open very long but other than that they are wonderful.

If you're looking for a great, quick lunch in Fondren, Basil's is an excellent option. I've been a fan for years. I was bummed when they closed their Belhaven location, but will still often trek to Fondren (haha, "trek"... it's a 5 minute ride away) for a great lunch here. The menu is mostly paninis, salads, soups and pizza and you really can't go wrong. The pizzas are really yummy and a great option for splitting between friends or coworkers in a group. The paninis are super flavorful. I love the homemade bread they make them on-- it's SO good. My favorite go-to meal is the chef's salad with grilled chicken. It's a pretty standard menu item, but Basil's uses super fresh and delicious ingredients which makes a hella difference. Their comeback dressing is really great, I highly recommend it. Located in the Fondren Corner building, Basil's is central to everything in Fondren. You can grab your lunch, eat it on the porch, and people watch as folks do their shopping and businessing in Downtown Fondren. Basil's does not offer coffee, but they're conveniently right between La Brioche and Sneaky Beans so you've got really excellent options for where to grab a cup before you head to Basil's for lunch. My dream lunch? Grab a coffee at Sneaky Beans, a salad or panini at Basil's, and dessert at La Brioche!

Wonderful food! The turkey was savoy. The bread was delicious enough to to eat plain. The sweet tea was fresh, and the service was friendly. Good idea for a quick date.

Hard to find, but the Panini is excellent. Drive to this address and you will see Roosters in a blue building. Park on top of the 2-story parking garage behind Roosters. Go up the steps into the building. Basil's is the last shop inside on the right, before the exit to the sidewalk. Alternatively, you could come in from the front side walk. However, there are probably no empty parking spaces near there.
