Strick's is a great place for smoked meats and BBQ of all kinds. Pulled pork, brisket, smoked chicken, and my favorite smoked chicken drumettes. It doesn't stop there, as they are a great place for seasonal Cajun dishes like hot boiled crawfish and red beans and sausage. If you love crawfish but don't want to go to the trouble of doing a big boil, Strick's is the spot. I've saved the best for last though. The homemade old-fashioned cakes are fantastic. I'm convinced they are made with magic. Kudos to the master baker there at Strick's. I challenge you to find a better coconut cake anywhere in the city outside of some grandmother's kitchen. I order whole cakes for special family get togethers and they've never failed to be a hit. Whether it's coconut, red velvet, German Chocolate, or their special strawberry cake, it's sure to please.

This place has been around a long time but I don't know how. I ordered the pulled pork. Definitely wasn't smoked meat and was very bland. I promise this meat had to come from walmart already cooked in the frozen food section and just warmed in a crockpot with BBQ sauce. and the BBQ sauce wasn't that good either. Go to Leathas BBQ for real deal, real good BBQ. They do have a good red velvet cake though.

Where should I begin.......? Stricks has been the goto BBQ spot in Hattiesburg for several years. Despite it's popularity, I never tried it until 2013 (by the way, I've lived in Hattiesburg 32 years). Needless to say, I heard about their cakes and had to give them a shot! Well, the red velvet cakes is AMAZING!!!! But their BBQ....ummm not so much. I am AMAZED better yet I'm FLABBERGASTED at the size of the crowd each and every time I pass by or stop by to order a piece of cake. I commend them on their ability to corner the market and establish a strong consistent customer base, I just wonder how in the heck they did it!!!! If you want cake, whether a slice or a whole Strick's is the place but If you want BBQ, go to LEATHA's or if you want something quick head to Dickies. I have them 2 stars for their cake and customer service! I also like the country style ambiance!

I can't believe the two bad reviews on this restaurant. I am from Texas and Stricks has a fantastic buffet of BBQ ribs, sausage, pig, brisket, fried chicken, cat fish, lots of fresh vegetables. As any buffet you need to get there before they are shutting down. We have eaten at Stricks every time we come through and have never gotten a bad meal. You can also order off the main menu and if you have room, the cakes are incredible. We were lucky to be in town when he was making his crawfish and they we're great! To find out how good this restaurant is, try it for yourself and just look at how many people are eating there too. The staff is wonderful and the atmosphere is rustic!! We are on our way back there for the whole pig they serve on Fridays! If you're not there you're missing out.

Awesome BBQ . They have a lunch buffet from 11-2 that is as good as it gets and they also have alot of space and tables. The food was very good. Plenty of Cakes and banana pudding,

Well Alrighty. I had to really really think hard on how to give this place 2 stars. And boy the only thing I could do was say that this place has cute decor. Somebody worked very hard at making it nice and country. Oh and plus the place is very clean. BBBUUUTTTT.......that is were that stops. I usually judge a BBQ place by its brisket. Sorry but i do it is hard to do right but when it is, oh wow. But this place failed badly. I should have known when it showed up in a tin little bowl with water/beef juice looking stuff in the bottom. The meat was dry and tough. OH i get it you have to dip the meat into the beef juice/water to make it moist. DUH. Guys just to let you know when your smoked meat shows up this way it is a big warning sign and i should have left it be right then and there. This brisket felt and tasted like the package roast beef sandwich meat from the store. heated in a microwave and tossed into a bowl of water. Now the BBQ sauce was pretty OK but hey making that is not hard to do. Now we were given two sides, I got cole slaw and fried okra. Well the cole slaw tasted like nothing and i really mean that . Nothing. Like eating air. The okra was over fried and hard as little rocks but hey it was hot. My husband had the same thing but he just poured a ton of BBQ sauce and hot sauce on it. But just to let you know he is in the Army(I am very proud of him) and he's like Mikey he'll eat anything LOL. His motto "enough catsup and hot sauce will make anything good enough to choke down". Goodness me. I do love him though. I will say this i did not get to try and taste any of the desserts and they did look good. But having that Brisket slam into my stomach like a brick was not going to allow me to put any thing else in there. The Web site said world famous and that they had been doing this since 1980. Well after all this time i figured you would know how to do good Brisket. Oh well not going back there.
