I was really happy to find Patio 44. My next trip to Mississippi will definitely include a stop here. We were staying near by but the bar in our hotel didn't open till 5. It was only 4. There's no way we can wait an hour for drinks. Yelp to the rescue! A few minutes later we were walking into Patio 44 and I felt so much better about my day. The décor is really nice. Like, I kinda wanted some of the stuff for my home. It's a warm but open interior with a gorgeous patio. Now, had it not been 106 degrees(I'm not exaggerating) we would have sat on the patio and he would've had to restrain me from climbing in the lovely fountain. Luckily, we sat inside at the bar and had a few drinks. At some point I realized they had lillet blanc and was downright amazed. If you like a good vesper, and you know how to make one, you'll know how difficult it is to find lillet in most bars. The beer and wine lists were extensive and the happy hour prices were crazy (in a good way). We didn't stay for food because we neither of us wanted to drive back to the hotel after the drinks we were intent on having. But then we got back to the hotel and tried to find a cab service (or really just anyone) to drive us back for more drinks and some food. Needless to say, I will be going back next time I'm in the area.

My husband and I wanted to eat a real meal on our way south. We found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try for dinner. Needless to say, we felt out of place in our tshirts. We sat on the patio and it was a great atmosphere--would be great for drinks with friends. I ordered the blackened redfish. The underside of my redfish still had the scales on it. Maybe this is normal at higher scale restaurants but I definitely wasn't expecting it. It made my meal unenjoyable because I was constantly getting scales out of my mouth. I don't even know if the fish tasted good.

My friend and I enjoyed our experience here--the food and atmosphere were excellent. We were promptly seated outside in their covered patio area and the breeze was quite nice. I typically don't enjoy eating outside, but I was pleasantly surprised in this instance. We ordered two for one cocktails this evening, and I opted for their catch of the day entree, which was delicious.

Every visit here has been wonderful for me and my companions. The staff is lovely and very knowledgable of their chef and the food he cooks. I've had the Shrimp Alfredo twice and the Shrimp & Grits once. The hot crab dip is a fabulous appetizer to enjoy with a mimosa or glass of wine. During the winter, it is lovely sitting out on the patio to eat or drink!

Second time coming here. The first time waiteess lied to me when i asked her was the steak choice OR select meat. And she said yes, its choice-select meat. Very funny.(LOL) it can be only 1 or the other honey. Came back again after about a year and a half with my wife. Ordered the chicken and andouille gumbo. It was very bland. Also got the chicken and waffle, it was just as bland. The chicken had no flavor. I did like the crawfish etouffee alot though. It was spicy, which i like. And of course, had to like the 2 for 1 happy hour drinks. Also like the appetizer my wife got. It was corn bread, peas, okra, and topped with bacon with garlic aoli on the side.

I had lunch out on the patio a couple months ago when the weather was quite chilly. The heaters were perfect. I ordered the shrimp and grits. So good! Nice sized shrimp with creamy cheesy grits. I know that creamy grits sounds contradictory, but they had just the right amount of cheese for an awesome texture. Reasonably priced for the atmosphere. They advertise specials on their Facebook page! I'll definitely be back.

We had driven by this restaurant a couple of times...feeling the pull of the large patio. After checking Yelp, and finally having a rain-free afternoon, we joined a friend for happy hour drinks, small plates and dinner. It is an interesting concept of a patio restaurant. With most of the seating outside. There are 50ish tables surrounding the flaming fountain and a few hightops and stools lining the outdoor bartop, with a couple of windows opening to the bar inside. The indoor bar has stools along a dark wood bar, with maybe 10 tables. My target was that inviting patio. We arrived around 5 PM. They were almost empty. I was told that the $5 small plates were only available at the bar, not on the patio. However, they were willing to let us sit at the outdoor Bartop and open the window to the bar. We tried three small plates. We were looking forward to the duck...alas, we were told that they are no longer making smoked duck, and are subbing chicken...Everyone has chicken...duck would have been a much better option. We tried the blue crab fondue. It had a very good taste and texture, with large lumps of blue crab, topped with sharp cheese and served with crustini. The cheese plate had strong and flavorful blue cheese, a slightly tangy goat cheese and two very bland parmesan varieties. We wanted to try a few more small plate options, but it was now around 6, so they were no longer available...so be aware if you plan to dine tapas style, you have to order it all before 6 PM. So...transition to the dinner menu. We had the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were large and tasty. The plating was a little messy...with the shrimp spread atop a smear of house-made chunky cocktail sauce. It had good flavors, but the thinner part of the sauce seperated and ran all over the plate. You had to try to use a fork and spoon to balance some on top of the shrimp, as there is no way to dip it. The dinner bread basket was a bit strange. The loaf itself was soft. When trying to cut it, it mashed down and revealed a very leathery texture that comes with microwaving. The flavour was very sweet, simular to Hawaiian bread, which was unexpected. It was a shame that none of us could really chew it due to the leathery texture...so after a bite apiece, we all three agreed it was inedible. The crawfish etouffee was flavorful, a bit on the hot side, with a good amount of crawfish and served over rice(over pasta is also an option if that is your preference). Overall a good version of the dish. We had high hopes for this beautiful restaurant. The patio is lovely. The staff was friendly. Some of the food was very good, some could use a small change to be even better. The microwaved bread was unexpected and inedible. The small plate/tapas menu is a good idea, just wish they had it available past 6 pm, so we could have sampled a few more options. Good seafood. Nice patio atmosphere. Not all was perfect, but definitely worth trying again.

My company did nothing but RAVE about this place and the amazing custom craft cocktails that Terry makes there. I'm sure Terry does a great job and I'm disappointed I was not able to experience it. Before I begin with WHY I had to give this place one star, I want to make it clear that we came on New Year's Eve for a few cocktails around dinner time....so....that was probably the major source of the problem. However, they DID advertise "Custom Cocktails by Terry" on their New Year's Eve agenda so...they sort of asked for it. We walked in and realized there were no more places at the bar so we opted for an outdoor table amongst the patio and heat lamps. The patio seating area was only about half full. We sat down but were pretty miserably cold (it was 33 degrees outside) because the staff were moving all the heat lamps to the opposite side of the outdoor seating area per the customers' requests, and left our side with only one. So we literally shivered while starring at "heat city" on the other side of the patio wondering why they had FIVE heating lamps and we only had one heat lamp on our side. So we are sitting in 33 degree weather and we order a round of drinks from the infamous Terry....and I figured "so what if I'm freezing my butt off, we are about to get a great round of high dollar craft drinks!" So, we waited....and we waited....and waited..... We wondered if they forgot about us since it had been thirty minutes and our server had not came back to our table. She had three other larger tables and seemed a little overwhelmed so we tried to be patient. Once we finally got her attention she said she was still in the process of putting in our drinks. So....we have been waiting for thirty minutes and the server still had not had a chance to relay our drinks to the bartender? I mean I'm pretty patient but that's just plain annoying. Well, we figured we would be good sports on New Year's Eve knowing that the bar was probably slammed and wait some more.....thirty more minutes more to be precise. Still no drinks. Our server had not been back to our table so once again we had trouble getting her attention again so I just went over to the bar to ask them if they were working on our drinks. Pushy, I know, but I had no choice! My New Year's Eve company was cold and becoming grouchy and anxious! I was afraid of an uprising! Turns out the bartender never even got a drink order for our table yet....so perhaps this was an error on our server's part? I am honestly not sure who to blame in the whole situation but we just had to leave. I mean we literally waited an hour for drinks that NEVER came to our table. Not only that, but large tables around us all got served except us. One by one we watched our server deliver cosmos and wine and beer and even cappuccinos to the tables around us....but not us. It was just so ridiculous that all we could do was start laughing about it. I am sure Terry is a great bartender because my company does not give praise where it is not due since they are VERY picky about good service. Perhaps it was just a bad day to come because they could not handle the New Year's Eve crowd, or perhaps our server just couldn't get it together. I'm not sure which....but I was totally disappointed this place didn't work out after all the good word of mouth.

Just had the most fantastic lunch here! The food was amazing and our server/bartender Adam was awesome!! We have a child with food allergies and the chef came to our table to customize a meal that would meet his needs! They went so far above and beyond my expectations. A very great experience!

I was there with two groups from out iof town- Chicago & New York... for a life shaking event.... Everyone there treated us 'Yankees'. like we were family. Thank you Ron- and your family... even. D. a pretty young lady- who was handing us Bourbon to drink.... The food we had was top notch...great southern hospitality.. My 1 st time in Mississippi.

I don't love the choice of food (very little that is healthy), but what I've had has been all right. The crawfish étouffée was so spicy it was difficult to actually eat. Other stuff I can't really remember but nothing to write home about. What's great here is the outdoor patio area and the fact that you can kind of come here for whatever whenever. Been here for lunch meetings, for dates, for reading alone with a beer, etc., wearing everything from a pretty nice dress to sweaty yoga clothes. That rules.

Nice portion size. I could barely finish even half my meal (sweet hot pecan fried chicken). Food was tasty, great caramelized onion and garlic mashed potatoes. Shrimp and grits was also good. Nice outside seating area with heaters and fans to keep it comfortable in varying temps. No beers on tap, but reasonable selection of bottled beer. Looks like they had a good sound system, but no music was playing. There was also no decor to speak of. No particular ambiance at least for a weekend lunch. Food was served with house bread. It was sort of warmed on the top, but still cold from midway down which was a bit odd. Service was decent.

I feel compelled to write a review to counteract the rather poor review that was made. I had no service issues at all, the food was quite good, I had a great time. I can wholeheartedly recommend - maybe just avoid on New Years?

First time here. Just moved here for graduate school from Jackson. Ordered the chicken breast entree and it was fulfilling. It comes with the peas but my waitress recommended mashed potatoes. I should've gotten the mashed potatoes instead! Service was attentive and food was great. Will be back again! :)

Definitely one of my favorite spots in the 'burg! I was a Branch Bar regular, but bartender Terry's hospitality and the tasty food is making me a Patio 44 convert! Amazing deal at happy hour: 2 for 1 wines and special $5 a plate menu. The debris fries are so delicious and a great bourbon selection definitely left us happy. Sit at the bar if Terry is working - he's a delight!

Blackened chicken lunch with field peas was scrumptious. Just passing through town but probably a cool place to hang for a while. Thanks for the great service Erin!

First review! My husband, son and I went to Patio 44 for dinner last night. I knew it had just opened but apparently the staff had been well trained. Everything flowed perfectly. Everything we had was really good. I highly recommend the crab cakes and the crab meat fondue for appetizers. My husband and son had the duck breast and both raved about it. I had the trout and it too was fantastic. Our waitress Kaitlin was super. Can't wait to go back.

I went to patio 44 today for lunch and had amazing service and pretty good food! I come to Hattiesburg for business sometimes and struggle to find a nice lunch place that isn't a chain or full of fried food. We sat at the bar and it was very clean and our bartender, I believe her name was Mindy, was professional and friendly. She was able to recommend a drink based on what I told her I liked and it tasted delicious. The French fries were also amazing. I will definitely be back.

I had dinner with friends at Patio 44 recently. The spicy bloody Mary was outstanding and the side salad and warm bread were good but the entree I ordered was not. I ordered the seafood pasta and it was totally bland. The pasta water had not been salted which any home cook knows is a major faux pas because you can't salt cooked pasta. The sauce had no flavor whatsoever nor did the seafood. The tiny crab cake on top was pretty good. I should have requested hot sauce or Cajun seasoning. I didn't complain to the server because he was so nice and quick to respond if we needed anything. I wish I could remember his name; he was a young guy with short blond hair. My friends enjoyed their entrees, however, so I must have ordered the wrong thing.

Amazing food in a small town. Prices were very reasonable for the high quality. Service was great and the food came out very quickly.

This place was amazing. I was amazed when I opened the menu and it lit up. That was an elegant touch. The waitress brought us warm towels to wash our hands at the table. Kudos! The drinks were strong. The food was good. The service was unforgettable. The atmosphere was welcoming and the restaurant itself is beautiful especially if you get a seat near the fireplace fountain. Went there in a date and he definitely impressed me with this choice.

First time trying this place. Had the BBQ shrimp. Came out in about 7 minutes, which was a bit surprising. Shrimp looked cheap, and the entree only had 8 pieces of shrimp for ~$20. Definitely overpriced for mediocre shrimp. Service was average, not particularly friendly but not really bad. Definitely better places in Hattiesburg for shrimp. Shrimp seemed to be pretty cheap, refrigerated and pre-pealed. They had us in and out in about 20 minutes, which is very strange for this type of restaurant. Seemed like they had the food pre-made or something since it came out so quickly and tasted warmed up. Would not recommend and will likely not return.
