Great atmosphere, good pina coladas and excellent customer service. Very accommodating staff. I had the Fat Cat, fried cat fish. It was was very tasty but the fried chicken was so delicious and don't forget about the mac and cheese.

I had the Mahi-Mahi sandwich Jamaican jerk style with a side salad with blue cheese dressing. The dressing was more potent than usual which I prefer and I could tell it was good quality. The sandwich was by far the best Mahi-Mahi I've ever had! Super delicious and filling! I would give it a 5 star but dropped one because the inside of the restaurant is very dirty and musky. I like how eclectic it is with all the trinkets they have on the walls. However, the chairs were torn up even though we sat outside. When I walked in I was actually afraid that the food was going to be gross because that is the kind of impression you get when first arriving. But in this case, do not judge a book by its cover! The food is fantastic and very very well priced! Way better food than Beach Bums!

Like Totally 20's!! Super cool joint!! My review is for the bar upstairs. Kick Ass!! Super fun, Super chill, Super folks and Super cheap! Seriously! Walk in and head straight upstairs and take a look around. You'll see a few pool tables a dancing area and what looks like a band area, (that night there was no band), also they have a cool old cigg machine that really works. A bunch of super cozy couches too! Very cool 20's style décor. Any mixed drink you'd ever want they can make it! They also have plenty of drinks you've never even heard of! Cold local beers and your favorite name brand beer if you not wanting to try something new. I went with Kona Big Wave and the hubby went with ShockTop draft. After visiting with a few other tourists we relaxed a bit out on the balcony and were blown away at the beauty of seeing the view of Jones Park and the Gulf of Mexico right across E. Beach Blvd (HWY 90). They've got tables with umbrellas but in the evening they were taking them down. Anyway, we both wanted to try something local so we decided to try Mississippi's finest, Stabello! Its an Italian lager. I guess its THEE only beer brewed in Mississippi. They serve it to ya in a traditional pint glass. Great tasting beer but too thick for me. I went with another Big Wave. Ended up having one to-go! YES I SAID A BEER TO_GO!!! They pour it in a plastic cup and your good to go!!! Hubby even had another something or other to-go! Walked across the street to Jones Park and kicked it with some friends and that other tourist couple!! Simple but clean bathrooms. Very cool bar tender....Jeff, I believe his name was! Was checking up with us to see if we needed anything. Plenty of parking.

Nothing to write home about, except for the shrimp skewers. Those were awesome. I guess i just expected more out of 62.00 that fed 2 adults and one child.

Stopped in for a late dinner....I had the fried cajon chicken sandwich that our server recommended and my wife had the catfish. Both dishes were great! They have 14 beers on tap including 4 locals. I tried the local ipa and it was very refreshing on a warm night out on the deck. Definitely recommend for a cold drink and a quick bite!

If you're looking for something different, this is your place. Great place to enjoy a cold locally brewed beer (try "chandelier's tin roof) sit upstairs on the deck and enjoy the awesome blues music. Oh yeah.... The food is great too!! Shrimp in cream sauce is amazing!!

We were from out of town and decided to check this place out. It was a Thursday night around 7pm, as we walked to the restaurant, there were a group of 4 patrons on the balcony. There were about 3 cars parked across the street from the establishment. We walked into restaurant, we saw what we thought was a hostess counter, stairs, and closed doors with a sign saying something like dining downstairs and bar upstairs. I opened one of the doors downstairs, I saw the dining room with nobody in it. We didn't want to eat outside so we didn't bother to go upstairs. We thought this looked pretty "shady". So we left this restaurant and proceeded down the road to The Halfshell. So, if the business wants people to enjoy their restaurant, then place someone at the door to direct confused patrons like us. Needless to say, first impressions are what brings customers back, it's safe to say we won't waste our time here again.

How this place is 2nd in my search I'll never understand. Wow. Low standards. Not impressed. At all. Average food. Rough staff. And NOT A SPEAKEASY.

Such a cool place! Sit upstairs on the deck of its open. Neat view of the harbor area on the Gulf & downtown. The Royal Reds are amazing! Super nice people, great food, full bar & interesting history. Cruise on over!

Passed this place a couple times driving around checking out Gulfport. Decided to stop in for lunch. It was fabulous! I had the Capone's Cajun chicken with sweet potato fries. It was perfection! I'm not a chicken lover but this was amazing! The crispy fried onions and spicy ranch compliment the amazingly tender chicken. My husband had the Swanky Speakeasy Chicken and Rice. He assures me it was great and since he did everything but lick the plate, I have to believe him! Also tried the speakeasy moonshine. Great fruity, beachy drink. It could sneak up on you very easily! The atmosphere is great and our waitress could not have been better!!

Great food, great drink, and prolly the best bar tenders on the coast. Karaoke on Saturdays is always a blast. The upstairs bar is laid back with a great view. I have never been to the restaurant part downstairs but the bar upstairs has great food from there. Prices are reasonable on food and drink.

Great lunch specials and cold beer. Fun place! The patio doesn't open until 3pm, and it looks really nice. We will need to come back so we can sit on it next time!

Food was absolutely delish! Cajun chicken sandwich and homemade Mac and cheese is the bomb. Food hot and good portions. Staff friendly. TRY IT!

Thanks to the percocet after PRK, I was able to get out of recovery and eat on their deck. The view of the water at dusk is beautiful and the temperature was just right after the rain. I got the chicken and shrimp pasta, which was tasty and a good portion size, meaning not to huge because it is heavy. It came with garlic bread and a salad for $13 which is pretty good. Not everything on the menu is good though. My friend got some sort of shrimp appetizer that didn't seem too appealing.

Good environment. Very good/engaging staff. The food was good too, portion sizes were a bit large though, still I would recommend big mikes!

Love love the atmosphere! And the macaroni and cheese is a must!! On pleasant evenings, we love to sit on the deck which overlooks the harbor, beautiful!

Loved the atmosphere in here. The food was really good. Passing through on our way home in Louisiana. Definitely will stop again when I am in the area.

I'm rating this place as a drinker, not as an eater. It usually takes forever to get a drink here, even on a slow night. The staff will wander around away from the bar, or get wrapped up in conversations with their pals. There's not many better ways to piss me off than to leave me sitting there with an empty pitcher while I sit there for 10 minutes while you talk to your friends. The beer is also overpriced, compared to other bars in the area. The pool tables aren't impressive, and I've had to get refunds on several games due to balls not dropping. The staff also has refused to give me quarters for the pool table about half the time, instead pointing me to a change machine. I hate that machine, because anytime I use it, I end up with WD-40 or some similar crap all over my hand. I've been there for a few events (live music), and they're all pretty annoying. It's almost like this place is trying hard to be a club, and it's not working. Oh, there are no dart boards here. I'm also curious as to how handicapped people get in here, as you have to climb upstairs to get in the place. Based on previous reviews, I believe this place should just stick to being a restaurant and give up on trying to have a good bar. The only reason I've been here a few times was to meet friends that were already here. Friends, by the way, that don't come here any longer. Yes, sadly, this review is based on about 5 or 6 visits. Lastly, the name is sort of irritating, too. How is this place anything like a speakeasy? It doesn't resemble anything from the 20's or 30's

Can not comment on the food we just stopped in for a drink and to watch a basketball game. We go to the gulfport area a couple of times a year for a weekend get away. We discovered Mike's one night were trying to find a place to watch a game. This was definitely my kind of place it had a very dive bar ish feel. It has deer heads on the wall old pictures everywhere, funky looking couches and of course what every dive bar needs....a stripper pole. From what the bartender told us they have bands and karaoke all the time...I wish I had seen that I bet it gets a little crazy. The upstairs patio is also really nice to just sit back and relax. Most of the servers were nice and helpful but as they got busy that kind of faded it became harder to get their attention and get a drink...think they were just under staffed. But, we will definitely be going back and hanging out when we come back through town.

My boyfriend and I stumbled into Big Mike's in search of a sandwich on our way to the beautiful beach across the street. I am so happy we did. We opted to sit downstairs at the bar, and our server/ bartender Ellen was fantastic: helpful, personable, and entertaining. My boyfriend got the half pound cheeseburger, and Ellen promised it would be one of the best he'd tasted. Obviously this is a huge claim, but she was right-- it was cooked perfectly, and the meat and the bun were both very good quality. The french fries were also pretty amazing. I got the Speakeasy salad with mixed greens, feta, pecans, avocado, and about 9 other million ingredients. The home made balsamic was off the charts. Apparently they make most of their stuff in house and it shows. A few very affordable beers paired very nicely with our lunch, as did the killer view of the ocean. Thanks so much, Ellen and Pokey (the chef responsible for our meal.). As promised, we will definitely be back!!

The service and food were excellent. The bar tender made us peach long islands....fabulous. The chef, Pokey, came out and talked to us for a while and explained how he makes many of the items on his menu. He was very kind and patient with us out-of-towners. We ordered our meals, the Bonnie and Clyde (shrimp & grits) was amazing! I don't even eat grits and I couldn't get enough off this dish. The royal red was delicious also, and the portion sizes were very generous. Everything from the staff to the drinks to the food were excellent....we wool definitely visit again!

Mac and cheese is the bees knees. Service a bit slow. Different environment than most places. Primarily a bar, but had pretty good food. Good view of the gulf.

I've grown an addiction to their "Big Cheese" burger..The fact that the mac and cheese (totally awesome btw) is offered as a side should be a crime!! I skip on the fries because they offer you the home cooked potato chips with your drinks. If you want a table downstairs away from the action (and the smoke for the little ones) Just ask! They are more than happy to seat you anywhere.

This place rocks. Down here painting our new house and stayed in a hotel close by here. We came here two nights in a row and had a blast. Jeff, our bartender, helped us each night. He remembered our name the second time we came in and was awesome. The food was good and the atmosphere was even better. A place to remember.

Not a bad spot to have lunch or grab a drink after work. I had the french dip (**** stars) solid sandwich with tons on meat. On another visit I ordered the fish tacos (** stars) first of all a flour tortilla wrapped dish is a burrito, but then again I am mexican maybe I am wrong... Service is great and the kitchen will have you in and out in under 40 minutes.

Went on Sunday on a friends recommendation. Was pretty slow but any bar/ restaurant is on a Sunday before noon. I had a great sliced pork tenderloin sandwich it had these little fried onions on top. And man the macaroni and chews is to die for. It has a great view of the harbor. I will be back

The grilled chicken sandwich with bacon was good, the side salad was too - and the house vinegrette dressing was awesome! Mike came by and asked how my food was - not too many owners that I've seen really care that much. Not been around indoor smoking in a few years, getting a headache and smelly clothes as a result would be the only reason not to go back - unless it was nice enough weather to sit on the balcony.

i still love this joint. jeff is the best bartender ever. my food is always hot and plentiful. next time, try the mac n cheese and ask for bacon on top. or, get the roast beef sliders with horseradish. trust me. i just wished they had a "brunch" menu on sundays.

This is a bar. Smoking in the bar kind of bar. Good food, but it is bar food - exceptional bar food. People who work there are great too. I would def want to go out drinking here but probably not do lunch again (unless I was getting drunk too).

Big Mike's Speak-Easy is located in the same building that used to be the Mexican/Indian restautant. The service was good when I stopped in for lunch. I had the BBQ'd jerk shrimp and it was very good. I'm looking forward to trying something else off the menu.

The bar is nice. It is a smoking bar so beware. I ask Courtney my bar tender what she recommended and she gave me a couple choices but settled on one of favorites, the fish taco. The taco looks more like a burrito and is seared on the outside. I could have 5 of them they were so good!!!!! She also recommended the Mac and Cheese as my side which I did and it was great. Sit outside if you can't handle the smoke and enjoy the views. Near place!

Big Mike's may have a biker bar type feel, but don't be scared, the food is worth it. Most men find themselves searching for greatness at some point in their lives. For some, it's that perfect job or the prefect invention that will cure some horrific disease. I've already got a pretty awesome job and have solved many of the worlds problems while sitting on the throne, so my quests are a little less likely to draw wide media attention, but they are still important. These days I am on a quest for the greatest burger known to man. My quest for that epic burger led me to Big Mike's and I was not disappointed. Big Mike's has a very dive bar type of feel. I mentioned that it has a biker bar type of feel as evidenced by the long row of Harleys parked outside, but don't let that scare you. Everyone I encountered was friendly and pleasant even if I did seem to stick out a bit in my plaid shirt and shorts. There was interior and bar type seating, but the place to sit is on the balcony. While not beach front, you can see the beach and get those salty breezes off of the Gulf that I love so much. For food, the meal began with an appetizer "not recommended by the American Heart Association", their Heart Attack on a Plate. This dish was fries, onion rings, cheese, jalapenos, onions, chili and sour cream. If this is what a heart attack is like, bring on the pacemaker. I was a little skeptical of the onion rings intermingled with the fires, but it worked. The burger (Bugsy Moran) was a hand formed half pound. I think it was slightly overcooked, but still juicy and full of that beefy flavor that I search for when trying burgers. I don't know if this the best burger on the coast, but it is definitely a solid contender. Service was friendly, but a bit slow. This may have been because the place was packed, but I didn't mind so much since the balcony was so pleasant. If you find yourself in Gulfport and want a good burger, head to Big Mike's
