This place is fannnnn-tastic. As far as I know, it's really the only Viatnamese place the local area has to offer but that is totally fine because it's excellent! Located conveniently enough on Lakeland Drive, this is a small, humble little spot. You might miss it if you don't know what you're looking for. Once you step inside, it's nothing super fancy. In fact, it used to be a Wendy's! (The Wendy's is now located a bit further down Lakeland, if you were looking for it and ended up at Saigon.) It's a quiet little spot. There is often a pretty good mix of families, college age kids, and older folks enjoying their meals. When you walk in, the employees will typically tell you to take a seat wherever you like. It's a spacious little spot with plenty of tables. I've never seen it very crowded. It's a great place to bring a group, as you can always push some tables together to make room for everyone. The main attraction is the pho, of course. You cannot go wrong with any of these dishes. On a cold or rainy day, I pretty much crave pho constantly and Saigon always takes care of me. Everything is super flavorful, and every dish comes with extra toppings and sauces to dress it up if you're into that. The employees are super friendly and the food comes out pretty quickly. When your meal is finished, you pay up front at the register. The food here is crazy cheap for the quality, in my opinion. If you're craving pho, or wanting to check out some new food you maybe haven't tried, definitely head to Saigon. You won't regret it!

This place is so dope. Pho is the main attraction. If you don't know what that is, it is a big broth bowl of noodle soup. They also have some rice bowls and hot pot dishes. The food is very tasty and very very cheap, you cannot lose. The atmosphere is that of an abandoned Wendys, because it used to be a Wendys. You don't come here for the atmosphere. The service is great. You order, food comes out quickly, and you pay up front when you leave. If you are lucky, the owner will walk around with his grand baby who is ADORABLE. All of the food is very tasty. On a cold or rainy day in Jackson, this is just the treat to get you through. The Pho is very flavorful and is served with bean sprouts, cilantro, and some other things to dress it up. They've got Sriracha and Sambal on the table to spice it up too. This is a place that is certainly worth checking out. I know that there are probably better, cooler vietnamese places in other cities, but this is the only one in town. If you live here, keep this in mind as a quick little treat for yourself or friends.

The biggest bowl of Pho I have ever had! Loved it. The guy working was super nice and friendly but my only complaint was that it was so hot inside! They had a fan blowing but it felt like there was no air conditioning at all. Other than that the food was great. Will return again sometime!

The broth of their pho was pretty good and portion is heaping. The egg rolls were finger size; four per order. It was good but not as good as Pho Hoa Binh of midtown Memphis. It was still a decent dinner and will be back when I'm around this area again. Hopefully they have some Vietnamese chicken wings this time. I asked the owner and his reply was "It is in process being added in the menu."

I came to Jackson, MS on business from Boston. Had a super long day and all I wanted was some Vietnamese comfort food so a whim, I decided to search for one on Yelp and found this great place. The Pho was delicious and authentic, the spring rolls were perfect and their lime drink was fantastic! The next closest Vietnamese restaurant is about 2 hours away! So if you're in the Jackson, MS area, definitely stop by here!

Don't come here expecting this to be a five star restaurant and you won't be disappointed. Our food came out fast. But it was fresh and hot. My boyfriend and I got the Pho with well done brisket. The herbs and spices they give you to compliment the dish were fresh and plentiful. Speaking of plentiful you get a lot of food for your money. This was my first time eating Pho, so I guess I have nothing to compare it to. But I know quality food when I taste it. So don't let the appearance of the place fool you, it's great food. Will definitely be back for date night.

Ordered the pho with shrimp and eggrolls for carry out as i always do and noticed that the price had gone up by $1.50. I still find $8 for a bowl of deliciousness with large shrimp to b very reasonable for the amount of food you get. The vegetable accompaniments are always crisp and fresh. The broth has always been wonderful to me, not sure what the other yelpers are complaining about, maybe i have a naive pallet lol. They have new carry out menus at the counter with updated prices. The eggrolls are great. I noticed another review that said the sauce served with them was oddly just carrots in water. Ha ha. I adore fish sauce and think it goes great with everything Vietnamese. I think maybe some people go looking for authentic Thai and instead get Vietnamese. I mean, it's not a Thai restaurant, so... well, anyway. Try the curry dishes too, they are great!

If you're looking for Vietnamese this is one of the only places where you can find it in Jackson. Decent prices and decent quality of food. It's located in what seems to be an old pizza joint lol. But you should definitely experience this restaurant if you're looking for Vietnamese in Jackson.

We go here on an almost weekly basis. Never been disappointed. The food is excellent, and it's owned by very friendly people. The Pho is really good and is served in large portions. Hot Pots are also great.

LOVE Saigon! It is my 'default' place to go when I can't decide. The two brothers who run the place. Phien and Phong, make sure you have everything you need for an awesome meal! The Pho Ga and Pho Tom is awesome (chicken or shrimp soup). The portions are huge. The lemongrass chicken with diced eggrolls, over rice noodles is also a definite winner! End up with lychees in a glass of ice or a blended jackfruit smoothie. Then sit back and enjoy a French inspired Vietnamese iced coffee, Cafe Sua Da, freshly dripped onto the sweet condensed milk, right at your table. And all this in a refurbished Wendy's hamburger joint! I think you'll love it as much as I do!

I wanted to have Pho while in Mississippi and it appears that this was the ONLY Vietnamese restaurant in Jackson, period. I was stoked, but not at all surprised since we were in the Deep South after all. I searched prior to arrival here and there's nothing within a 50 mile radius - not even a 100 mile radius either. Jackson was Mississippi's capital, but surely they would have more, but unfortunately they didn't. You'd have to drive to a neighboring city in MS or search yelp for another Vietnamese restaurant in MS, but thankful that I found one here. Quite awesome actually. Saigon Noodle is located off the I-55 on Frontage Road. It was a few miles from my hotel, so a group of my friends and I decided to come here for good food and good company. There is private parking here and they accept credit cards, so that's always a plus. The ambiance here is like any other upscale type Vietnamese restaurant. Very clean, but the service can be spotty at times. There were a few tables that were occupied when we came in at about 6pm on a Friday night. It was those restaurants where we had to go up to the front to pay. We didn't realize this and waited for a good 20 minutes after finish eating to flag the server down and he told us. Lol I had the large combination Pho, Pho Bac Diet, along with the shrimp summer rolls. The rolls were a bit cold, but palatable, whereas the Pho was alright. More soup than noodles, but that's how it is really. The soup base was okay. A bit more watery than I was used to, but in all things considered, it was pretty good. A shot of shiracha sauce in the peanut sauce always does it for me with the summer rolls, although shiracha sauce in the Pho doesn't do justice anymore, since the broth can be compromised with that level of spiciness that may or may not be needed. Still, it was a good meal to be had while in my short stay in Mississippi. The service here, as mentioned before, is hit or miss, but glad in my case that it was definitely a hit. The experience was typical, but still a nice option for dinner for anyone. Recommended for those who heart pho as much as I do, or for those seeking somewhere and something different, especially in the Deep South of Mississippi. I enjoyed my time here at Saigon Noodle and hope you will too. Support local! B

One of my favorite places!!! Delicious spring rolls! I always order the marinated chicken plate with rice, but the pho is pretty delicious too. Customer service isn't bad and food is always delivered fast!

Disclaimer: Having been raised on Vietnamese food. I'm sortof a Vietnamese food snob. The food was okay considering that this is one of the few places in Jackson to get Vietnamese food period. I ordered the Bun Tom nuong cha gio (vermicelli noodles with an egg roll and shrimp). Not that great. The shrimp was flavorful, but the presentation, greens and noodles was subpar. Our Goi cuon (spring roll) appetizer arrived after my noodles. Gr! And my boyfriends pho broth was just decent. Overall, it's not bad. Just not great either. The reason I gave this place 3 stars is because the owner was very nice. Dunno if it had anything to do with the fact that I am Vietnamese.. But still.. Very nice.

I am sorry y'all - I am so partial to this place that its gonna be hard for me to give you a critical review. A couple of other yelpers pointed out the key reason on why you may want to go here, in Jackson you have Mexican, Chinese, BBQ and Soul/Country food restaurants all over the place. I wanted something to challenge the taste buds, I wanted something to awaken them from the dubious amounts of Tony's, Lawrey's, paprika they have been receiving for the last 15 years! lol!!!! I always wanted to try vietnamese cuisine, but living in Jackson - there was no where to go? Then all of a sudden, got a new phone book some years back and was thumbing through it to see what new eateries embarked in the metro area, then BAM - I heard the angels singing when I came across Saigon's add in the phone book! I made a beam line down Lakeland Drive when I called and they stated they were open. This is what I usually order, the spicey beef soup (but instead of udon noodles, I have them substitute the rice noodles instead), vegeterian noodle soup, or I get the thin sliced beef, with tripe. The vietnamese egg rolls reminds me of filipino lumpia. The spring rolls are good, I guess I like the freshness. My ol' lady is from Ackerman, Mississippi - so you know she is not that cultured, however she loves the Hot Pot (basically their version of fried rice). These same fella's put me on to Van Hung Asian Market in Ridgeland. I was running out of Sirracha (due to me getting to go a lot) and I tried to buy a bottle from them and they gave me a business card to Van Hung! lol!!! Really nice people, but one word of caution - your food comes out piping hot! I never knew food could get that hot, temperature wise. If you want something different from standard americanized chinese, mexican, bbq and country cookin' - definately try Saigon! Also, don't be afraid to ask questions, because they will tell you what may tantalize you or they will let you sample.

I am relatively new to Pho (a vietnamese soup that is like a magical cure-all when you have a cold) and have only been to a few places and this location was A-OK for sure. If you're not familiar, Pho is a huge bowl of soup (even when I ordered the small) that has onions and a lot of broth with rice noodles at the bottom. I like the Pho Ga, which is chicken pho, and I was happy to see they used white meat chicken here. On the side you'll have an assortment of things you can add in, don't just throw them all in! Each thing adds a specific flavor. The lime can add a little sour citrus flavor, the pepper can make it hotter (i love it!), you can add a little of the various herbs (usually cilantro and coriander) and then bean sprouts if you like their earthy flavor and want a little crunch. This is really the best thing ever to eat when you have a cold, and the pho here is pretty good, I'm just used to a stronger flavor in the actual broth. For a starter I got a half order of their vietnamese rolls, which are their version of egg rolls. They were pretty good, but nothing fantastic and they were actually pretty small for $2.50, and came out after my pho. The dipping sauce they came with wasn't so much a sauce as water with slices of carrot? Couldn't figure out what that was supposed to be used for. Last, I had ordered an avocado drink (maybe a smoothie?) and had added boba (these little tapioca pearls that are delicious in teas). I had especially wanted it because I figured the cool drink with the cool avocado in it would be a nice balance because I pour on the chili sauce in my pho. Only problem? My drink didn't come out until after I had finished eating. By then I was full and relatively uninterested in the drink. It had an okay flavor, and an interesting texture. I probably wouldn't order it again, but it wasn't bad. Boba were good, and I'd want them in a different drink. The place just seemed disorganized, my food came to me out of order and it was just strange. Pretty good, but probably not worth a return trip when there are so many other awesome options in the area.

The pho is great, very savory and flavorful. My boyfriend and I eat it 2 times a week when it's cold, and usually once a week any other time. The egg rolls are great and the owner hand wraps them. I've also gotten their oCom Ga Nuong Cha Gio (char-grilled marinated chicken) n several occasions and it's fantastic! The owner is very friendly and easy going, but the rest of his staff, not so much.

I called and asked for a menu item and the owner said it will be $7.50 but when he rang me up he rang me up for $8.72 as though we never had a conversation very bad take-out experience but good food

Just ate here for the umpteemth time and is as good as ever. Order any of the pho, make sure you get a small though unless you have two other people to share it with. I mean this huge bowl is $5 with fresh basil and bean sprouts and cilantro to throw in there. OMG, the best deal in Jackson. I'm just impressed we even have a vietnamese restaurant. Great fresh spring rolls (you can also get the kind where you make your own). Hotpot looks good although I've never tried it. Also they have some special with a fried egg I am dying to try. Make sure to try the boba smoothies. My friend loves mango, I love avocado without the boba, and the soursop is also good I've heard. You can also not go wrong with lychee. Food is fast and cheap, definitely a go to.

We were driving back to memphis from NOLA and craved us some pho and we actually found this place. It looks a bit shady from the outside, but the people were nice, and the food was good, i mean pho is pho, I don't see how you can go wrong. I got the shrimp which was good, but the chicken wasn't that great. The broth does have a hint of ginger in it, which is not what I'm used to. Oh and I think its the only one in jakson. It's cheap and reasonable.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Saigon yet - I've been eating here for years and it's one of my favorite little-known spots to eat when I'm on the Lakeland side of town. I have a hard time deciding what to get when I'm there. Do I want the super cheap $6 vat (er, bowl) of Pho with seafood and bbq pork or the spicy house pho? A bun noodle dish, or should I go with one of the super tasty hot pots? It goes without saying that I HAVE to have a fresh spring roll appetizer with that addictive peanut sauce to share with a friend, and typically I get a cup of iced jasmine tea with my meal. Sooo good! They also have boba drinks and desserts but I've honestly never had room to try these more than once - but the bean pudding I had that one time was super tasty. I should try another dessert one day. I believe they're related to the asian market (also called Saigon) on Spillway. A handy little grocery on that side of town for sure.

Sure, others will question my review....perhaps it may not add a whole lot to my credibility to say we are Asian, so we definitely know what we're talking about. I still stand by my review. Observing many asians there does not a good restaurant make. After all, how many authentic asian (I didn't say good though) restaurants are there in town for asians to flock to? Also have you ever tried to make pho broth at home? It is a meticulous task and takes ALL day to make a good pot! The asians there probably don't want to or cannot spend all day at home. That's why we used to go. I didn't even get into cleanliness/freshness in my first review, but now I will. The numerous times we have been there.....twice, a hair in food....once, sour milk used to make my jasmine tea and when I asked if it was supposed to be sour, they laughed and spoke native while carrying it back...spoiled shrimp in spring roll...and the last too gross to mention! Not good for the kiddos right? And I would convince the fam to return even after the first couple incidents! I thought we were the only ones, but since I've followed the Cynical Cook, some people have validated this place's uncleanliness in the comments section!! ARGH Ban can de lam sach! The employees are nice, and we appreciate that. We have never exchanged unpleasantries. But again, the food doesn't cut it for us.

Awesome pho and egg rolls. We have been to Vietnam and the pho is very comparable. Great service too.

The food and drinks here are simply outstanding, and prices are very reasonable. If you are a spice masochist like me, order the spicy beef soup. You can request to have the spice level bumped up on many menu items, with varying degrees of success. Be sure and have them bring you some chili paste, the real hot stuff. For the timid, try the chicken hot pot, vermicelli dishes, and most of the soups. You can get some killer fruit drinks there, as well, made on the spot just for you. It's hard not to love the papaya. The one whose awesomeness simply surprised me was the avocado fruiter, though. If you, like me, enjoy marble-sized tapioca pearls, these are often available as a fruiter add-on called boba.

Don't let the building say your decision to go elsewhere! When you walk in, make sure they see you sitting down. Grab a menu and look a that e spring rolls. Awesome! Also recommend the chicken noodle soup "ga". The pot dishes are really good too. The lemon grass chicken is also very tasty. If you cant decide on one thing, I would recommend the house special. It has chicken, pork, noodles, salad, shrimp and a few other tasty things. The seasoning is awesome. Highly recommend the house special. Prices are good, but the service...just be patient, they have gotten better.

The waiter was friendly enough when he sat me, but I waited 20 minutes at a table right in front of the door, and he never even came back to my table to get my drink order. They were not that busy.

Located in an old Wendy's building, Saigon looks almost as sketchy as Asian restaurants get. DO NOT be deceived by the unappealing venue, Saigon is awesome if you're looking for something truly authentic. DO NOT expect your typical Asian cuisine, DO NOT be afraid to be a little adventurous in your order, and most of all, DO NOT hesitate to laugh at the hilarious English translations on the menu. If you are not familiar with Vietnamese food, let me recommend trying something authentically Vietnamese--Pho. PHO IS AWESOME!!! (Beware the "meatball" pho, though, it's suspect)

    (4)
  • Nicole L.

Definitely one of my favorite restaurants! Although Saigon may not have many competitors around since it is the only Vietnamese restaurant, the servers are always welcoming. There is also a lot to choose from pho (best hangover cure) to seafood hotpots.

This place is not as good as the Vietnamese restaurant my wife and I ate at in San Antonio (VN Bistro); it was ok at best. I got pork and shrimp with noodles, and they were stingy with the shrimp - I got two of them. I didn't like how they sliced the cucumbers with a little of the skin left on, and their lettuce was sliced rather largely which made it awkward to eat; also it was iceburg - VN Bistro used a darker salad green. I also prefer wooden chopsticks to the plastic ones they utilize; but I imagine they employ them as a money saver. Overall, I was a little disappointed after the wonderful introduction I had to Vietnamese food while vacationing in San Antonio, TX, at VN Bistro. I'll probably be comparing every other Vietnamese restaurant to that one. This place should also seriously consider renovating their restaurant.

I was in Jackson for a few days and stopped in at one of my local favorites. For those who don't know me, I am a Pho fanatic. I found this spot back in 04 when I was living up there and try to stop by whenever I am in town. Again I started with the fried spring rolls (**** stars) and for my main dish I had the Pho Dac Biet (**** stars) it was almost like being back in Westminster. At least at this Pho spot the prices are much like the prices back home. On other occasions I have had the rice dishes and most were really good. If you are in South Jackson and looking for something a little different, then Soul Food then Saigon is a great alternative.

Great pho it was actually better than I expected from looking at the outside but wouldn't advise you to get the egg roll when I went there it tasted funny... Other than that I liked it

This is one of those holes-in-the-wall type of place. As soon as you go in you will notice a few things: the eriee familiarity of a fast food layout, the lack of cosmetic maintenance. However, this is a food review and I am personally not concerned with the ambiance of this eatery. Now on to the food; we ordered two appetizers the spring rolls and the fried quail. The spring rolls were good, but the quail was a home run, I woudl recommend you try them even if you never had this fowl before. My main entree was the Pho and it was to die for, if you are not too familiar with oriental food, start with this plate specially if you love soups like me. You can add different cuts of meats to the Pho and I had mine with round steak and tripe. The fresh basil and bean sprouts complemented this dish superbly. Make sure you go to this place for the food oNLY. The service was horrible and that's actually very common of eateries with extremely good food. Go in and enjoy, we ate, we had a great time with another couple and time flew-by enjoying a great meal!!!

where do i start with saigon? i go at least 2-3 times a month! if you're looking for a good healthy restaurant with dishes that don't top $8 a plate, go to saigon! you walk in and yes, it was obviously some sort of fast food establishment before, but the food is amazing. i've had most everything on the menu...the pho (noodles and meat in a delicious broth that comes with bean sprouts and herbs) is delicious and a great intro to vietnamese food. (it's also a good hangover meal, fyi.) the vermicelli noodle bowl is also delicious...noodles tossed with cucumbers, lettuce, peanuts, and whatever meat you specify. for the purists, there's the rice plate, which is simply rice, meat, and lightly pickled vegetables. it comes with some of their soup as well. today i had one of their vegetarian dishes - tofu, bamboo shoots, and mushrooms all stir fried together with noodles and YUM! i recommend the spring rolls for an appetizer, and the AVOCADO FRUITER DRINK for dessert! just think avocado (or whatever fruit you like) milkshake...yummm! OH, and they have the BEST COFFEE. it will keep you at attention for hours! seriously, i have eaten nearly everything off the menu, and i keep going back. it is that good. i mean, when you walk into an asian restaurant and most of the people there are all types of asian, i think that's a terrific sign of a great restaurant.

I came here solely based on the Yelp reviews above mine. Going through Mississippi for business and my stop in Brandon MS craved for something lighter than a week of BBQ and soul food. Decided to look up vietnamese cuisine on yelp and found this little place. Not the typical Neon Galored hole in the wall, this farely large and empty place does have left over resemblance of an old fast food joint. I ordered the #3 pho, along with the Egg Rolls. Lets start with the price, I'm not sure about the quantity of the place's daily customers, I think the price of the menu is very cheap considering the lack of competition. The ingredients were fresh and chrisp. Noodles were firm and not stuck together, beef sliced perfectly and fresh, basil, cilantro and sprouts all clean and crisp. The egg rolls werent that great. Mine came semi cold on the inside and despite the crispy fried shell, the inside had an extremely soggy texture to it that was unpleasant. The bowl of pho was mediocre apart from the fresh ingredients. The cultprit, the broth. It tasted a few hours shy in the pot and quite bland. Perhaps too much water and not enough bones during cooking. There was also a hint of sourness to it, perhaps the cook added lemons during the cook process, which may not be favorable to all customers (myself included). I'm quite picky in terms of food and with my obsession with pho, I'm quite harsh on my reviews. If you're like me, this wouldnt be the 'to die for' bowl you'll fantasize about. That being said, knowing Mississippi isn't quite the place to be world-renowned for it's vietnamese cuisine, this could possibly be the best bowl of pho in these southern states!
