A friend and I went in for lunch. Lovely decor. Very clean. Excellent service. Prompt and very friendly. I had the rainbow trout. It was AMAZING! My friend had the pot roast. Her comment was "I wish it wouldn't end-so good." We had mini carrot cakes and cinnamon ice cream for dessert. Perfect ending to a great meal. I will be back and would recommend to anyone. We had reservations which I would encourage. We were there on a Tuesday and the place really filled up.
Even on a rainy day, one can still find happiness when you step inside a place that serves great tasting food that will get your taste buds dancing with joy! The setting melts the troubles away and the peaceful dining experience was altogether terrific. Maybe sitting by the window watching the rain fall helped but that was the feeling I got dining here in the early evening. To start with, they offered some carrot humus which was quite tasty. I had a glass of Cabernet and ordered the dry rubbed & grilled Geisert farm pork chop with fresh baby spinach, mashed sweet potatoes and drizzled with some balsamic reduction. I wanted to try an appetizer but I wasn't too hungry so perhaps next time. The pork chop was cooked perfectly, I wanted it more done than how they normally would cook it but it didn't turn out tough or anything. The sweet mashed potatoes as well as the balsamic reduction complimented the flavor of the pork really well. After finishing my meal, I've saved just enough room for a slice of their vegan and gluten-free dark chocolate flourless cake drizzled with chocolate sauce and salted caramel. One word: Heaven! I wish I had taken a picture of such delicate perfection but I was too excited and I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into some drizzled dark chocolate deliciously sinful goodness (it was that good that I don't even care if my description goes well together). The cake was moist and rich and I loved the salted caramel! Oh my... I might just come back for that alone. The service was wonderful as well and the place was well-kept. I can't wait to come back and try their other menu items or just for another slice of heaven.
Wonderful experience. Got a reservation for 11 (not easy) for a Friday at 730. Between us we ordered the majority of the menu and can honestly say that no one had a complaint about any dish. I couldn't recommend any restaurant more than Big Sky.

Saint Louis Bread Co.

21 Allen Avenue
Webster Groves, 63119
Reviews:
Your typical bread company, this one has a weird parking lot (straubs claims the parking spaces directly in front of this location), but there is always parking within walking distance. The inside had two distinct areas - one for more work and coffee, the other for truly sitting down and eating - hello booths The staff here seems friendly, with one notable exception (an elderly woman who tends to give me a hard time depending on what I order) The food is obviously the same as other bread co/paneras. I tend to always get the same thing though: pick two with the Bacon turkey bravo minus Gouda and tomato and turkey chili (now that they have that) Both are quite wonderful.
Panera Bread Co, what would we do without you? We love your wonderful sandwiches and soups and creative dishes. Quick and healthy-er. And since everyone loves you, you tend to be full, especially around lunch time. I come here often to work in the afternoon while the kid practices with her orchestra. Two things I do not like about Bread Co, 1. sometimes I just want quiet. It's not that I don't like kids, I have four of my own, but having other kids that are noisy by nature (they're kids for goodness sake) easily distracts someone who is already easily distracted and doesn't need the extra help! That said, most kids at Bread Co are relatively well behaved. 2. I have yet to find a Bread Co that has enough outlets for our ever burgeoning digital world of devices. Ok, generally the service is very good, friendly and prompt. As an example, this time they didn't have Smoothie I wanted so they made a kale super smoothie instead. And was told that if I didn't like it they'd make another for me. Good service. Good food. That's why people keep coming back.
I would like to add - without reflecting on this Panera as a whole - there's one person who works here who's usually a bit crabby to the customers. Good old Joe, who complained when I put in a big bagel order like it was inconveniencing him, even though you'd think a big order would be a GOOD thing. And who argued with me when I noticed the "skim milk" was way too white (and too tasty) to actually be skim. I've been pouring the skim milk in this Panera for ten years, and I know what it looks like, but Joe had to disagree and tell me their skim was really white. Uh huh. It was 2%, but Joe won the argument anyway because he's the guy with the Panera nametag. Just avoid Joe and you will enjoy the customer experience a little bit more.

Tei Too

8158 S Big Bend

Reviews:
This place is absolutely amazing! The customer service is something to talk about! Everytime I recommend this restaurant to anyone, I always add "... and the workers are amazing" because I feel that is one of the many things that make them stick out among the rest. The food is absolutely the some of the best in STL. I absolutely love Asian cuisine. I used to live closer but now live 30 minutes away and still drive the distance for the food. It's that good. Anytime I go anywhere else I always end up saying "not as good as tei too". If I had to comment on an improvement I would say it's that they aren't open earlier on Saturdays and they are closed on Sundays.
First, their Crab Rangoon is amazing. It comes with this delicious sweet and sour sauce. I also love their Thai fried rice -- it's nice and light, and when I get it for takeout, it lasts at least 2 meals for me. When I try other dishes, though, I'm sometimes disappointed. Their beef was very dry when I had it. My boyfriend had a bad beef & noodle dish there and now will never go back with me. I'm always happy when I get my fried rice & Crab Rangoon, though.
I give this place 4 stars for Thai/Asian restaurants just because there is probably a better place out there somewhere in the Lou, but I do recommend this place with no reservations. Could be 5 stars if I had some other places to compare to. My family gets take out here 4 or 5 times a year. Nice/clean enough inside so I would not hesitate to dine in. I usually call in the order and pick it up, it is always hot and ready when I pick it up and the staff is always friendly. Chicken satay with peanut sauce on the side, chicken pad Thai and spicy basil beef stir fry were all great on my last order. Entree portions are large enough for two adults to split and prices are reasonable so overall great value. They have beer and wine, but no cocktails. As with other places in Webster/old orchard, parking can be a challenge at times.

Jersey Mike’s Subs

8567 Watson Rd.
Webster Groves, 63119
Reviews:
Standard sandwich place. Solid sandwiches. However, I do not do carbs... and this is the ONLY place I have been able to get my entire sub mix up in a bowl with all of the same stuff that I would have on a sandwich, mixed up in a bowl! Low carb option for me, while my spouse can still get a foot long! Also, try their red pepper sauce. Delish!
The ruben sandwich on typical sub sandwich bread left a lot to be desired. The water on the soda machine was out of order. My guest ordered a turkey and bacon sandwich, the employee created a supreme with bacon. When we asked him to change it he just igored her and went to the next customer. The fella ringing us out had to put on gloves and make a new sandwich when the mistake was pointed out. This place was not horrible, but for lunch choices, I can find many places better who care a bit more.
Today I visited Jersey Mike's for the first time in my 35 years and I now how a favorite sub place! The place was clean and the staff was super friendly and personable. I had the turkey and my sister had the Philly cheese steak. Both were fresh and delicious. The regular size of subs are a lot of food and good for the price. Ask them to cut it in half and boom! You've got a meal for tomorrow! There are chips, daily soup, and potato salad. If you're tired of the Subway yoga mat sub game, go try Jersey Mike's. It's worth it.
