I met a customer here when in Springfield and they have quite an extensive menu. I was really in the mood for Fish tacos but there weren't any on the menu that I could see. I asked our server and he said that they weren't on the menu but they would be glad to make me some. Then asked me if I wanted them grilled or fried. I ordered grilled, they were awesome and I told the manager that he should really add them to the menu or at least offer them as a special one or two days a week. Great food!

Have been going here for years before it changed names - remodel is nice and food is great. Their chips and salsa are the best anywhere...fajitas and enchiladas mexicanas are amazing. Will continue eating here!

Yesterday evening (5/31/14) we decided to take a chance on Plaza Mexico. We had not been there since it was La Hacienda which had gotten several really, really, bad health inspections.I knew even before reading the inspections that for some reason the quality of the food had gone from wonderful to barely even warm back then. I won't go into what those inspections revealed but it was enough t shut them down for a while. We did not got back....until now. It's now called Plaza Mexico. Their recent restaurant inspection was 0 critical violations and 0 noncritical violations. However that was a reinspection. Hopefully they can keep it that way. This is the only reason I put a 4 star instead of 5 star. We were hoping the recipes were the same and they did seem to be. We both loved what we had (#4 on the lunch menu). It was piping hot and delicious. Their chips and salsa are great. Can hardly stop eating it. The staff was very friendly and the place appeared to be well kept. We will definitely recommend it and will be eating there again.

If you've ever had Mexican at a small town restaurant then you will know exactly what this is. It's okay, nothing more but it's not a bad kind of familiar. I got the fajitas and they did the job. Salsa is just salsa, nothing special. White queso was good as well. All in all it looks much better on the inside then it does on the outside.

While the food was good (had the chicken tacos) the service was horrible. The lady that took my drink order didn't know English so I got coke and not diet coke. Then when I ordered the chicken taco, soft shell - I got hard shell with beef. You would have thought after two mess ups they would have least given my meal for free, but nope they even charged us the extra dollar for the soft shells. Never again!!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
