I am wholeheartedly a fan of St. Louis style pizza. There is no denying that I was spoiled on it due to living the last few years smack dab in South City St. Louis, and having in my opinion, the best Imo's Pizza in the city right by my house. After discovering that the remaining Imo's Pizza here in Springfield are an insult to the brand, and essentially serve you hot garbage on a plate, I was fearful that I may never find a place to get my thin crust fix. I followed some leads, and recommendations to other pizza joints (e.g. Pizza House, which is pretty much a Totino's Pizza), but all where mediocre in comparison...that was until I found Mr. Biggs. I've eaten here 4 times now, and its safe to say they have nailed it with their thin crust pizza. It is as close as you can get to being a top notch, delicious, city of St. Louis Style pizza. I don't know how long this place will remain operating since every time I have gone in there it has been completely dead, but alternatively their lack of clientele upon me visiting has made for great service. The interior is nothing special, but its clean, the pizza is cheap (XL, 1 topping for 10.99!), and they have a full bar. My only recommendation is that they move or put a t.v. on the western wall (when walking in) that faces the bathrooms. I don't know how they missed that one. So if thin crust is what you are after, this really is the only place in town worth going to.

The location seems oddly large and disjointed and seems like it's been two other things within the past year. Oh wait, it has. Well, I kind of hope Mr. Biggs stays around b/c the food is perfectly decent, the variety on the menu is appreciated (salads, pastas, pizzas, and sandwiches; oh, and basically an appetizer menu that reads "something-or-other-fried-with-dipping-sauce"), and they offered me my fountain soda to go after sitting in for lunch. A fountain soda the size of the Bistro fountain sodas, and this place is like 1/3 block from my work. Hey, I think I may just go in there and order a fountain soda to go. Really. I may just be that pathetic, so thanks, Mr. Biggs for giving me that opportunity. Also, they have a decent sized bar. I'm sure this could be a good location for dinner and a few drinks with friends or something like that.

Disappointed this time around, unfortunately. I came with my coworkers yet I was the last to get my sandwich. It was so late that the waitress gave me my bill before I even received my food. I think they knew how late it was because I received it in a to go box. Just wish I would have been able to eat with my coworkers. My coworkers were done eating and then I received my to go meal.

First of all: this location is cursed. I came here a few weeks ago to finally eat at Miguelito's and it wasn't even Miguelito's anymore! Remember Rendezvous? And Boca Mocha? Yeah, me too. Me too. Fast forward to last night when some friends and I ambled down this block to check out a business that didn't end up being open. A pizza night cap instantly sounded good to us, so we walked in to Mr. Bigg's to split something. First impression: half the decor, which isn't much to begin with, seems to be from the Rendezvous/Boca Mocha days. That's fine, that's sustainable - EXCEPT for the elephantine hanging lamp in the entry room. Seriously, it teeters on absurdity, it's so big. Why is there a paragraph forming about this lamp? I don't know. Overall, I feel like if the aesthetic here could talk, it would say "Yeah, pizza and stuff, I guess?" Our waitress was very nice. When we tried to order a large, she told us it would actually be cheaper by like three bucks to order an extra large (???) so we did. It was some kind of special deal we didn't know about until our waitress told us, but who wouldn't be game for that? We ordered an extra large half pepperoni, half bacon pizza and a side order of Bosco sticks. Before I talk about the pizza, let me say what needs to be said about a restaurant offering Bosco sticks as a menu item - YES, they're tasty and YES, they pair well with Italian stuff, I guess - but it's still kind of a cop out for a restaurant to do IF it wants to be taken seriously because everyone knows they come frozen in a box. How do I know the rest of the menu's ingredients didn't come frozen - know what I'm sayin', Yelpers? That doesn't mean the food was bad by any means - it was fine. The Bosco Sticks were good with added oregano (although the marinara was lacking in any flavor - my guess is that it also was not made in house) and the pizza was good, although not particularly memorable. They used actual bacon strips on the bacon part, though, and I'm always down with actual bacon strips on anything. My experience here was average in just about every way possible, but average won't cut it in a place that has hosted more businesses than a terrible networking conference in Reno. Can't we all just go to Pizza House in the first place?

Great pizza! The NY style is actually pretty spot-on, not just a big pizza! However, their specialty is St. Louis style (thin crust, square cuts, toppings to the edge, often with Provel cheese). They also make a thicker crust, and they have a bunch of specialty pizzas as well as build-your-own. The sandwiches we've tried (the Bigg's Stallion and the Turkey Bacon) have been... just okay (mainly because they're so bready, and the bread's not that great). The pasta and everything else has been really good for a pizza place--especially the manicotti. They also have a pretty good beer selection, liquor too.

Didn't get what I ordered. I called and they said I got what I ordered. Never got a receipt for my delivery. They said I could drive there and get a receipt. Girl on the phone repeated my order. Manager offered no solution. Never again! Screwed me once. No second chance!! Horrible customer service! Fyi: Chicken Cordon Bleu sub had 2 chicken fingers on it. Terrible!

Was ignored on entry, was able to have quite a lengthy conversation waiting, until we finally left about 10 minutes later, which was odd as we were literally the only people there.

Finally, St. Louis-style pizza that's not Imo's! Don't get me wrong--Imo's is good for delivery, but affordable it is not, and Springfield Imo's employees always seem just this side of surly, like they're doing you a favor. Not so at Mr. Bigg's; they were more than happy to help in any way they could, including saving me a buck by setting me up with the weekday lunch special on the weekend. The food is basic St. Louis-style pizzeria fare--it was unexpected to find mostiaccoli on the menu!--but if you're hankering for Provel, you can't go wrong here. I was only sad that I had somewhere to be after and couldn't take my leftovers with me, so I made sure there wouldn't be any!

We started out at pizza plus, but we never should have strayed from Mr. Biggs. The service is always amazing and the food has never let us down. The bosco sticks and super deluxe pizza is what we order every time. Love this place. We don't even bother with Imo's anymore.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
