Looking for a no-nonsense breakfast spot? This place is worth a look. I've been coming here almost since they opened this location. Most of their clientele and the people who introduced me to Cedars have been going for much much longer. Prices: Bargain low. Food style: Classic breakfast diner. Portions: Large. Very classic breakfast diner menu options. I like the chicken fried steak breakfast. I always go eggs sunny side up, hash browns, and toast. You can also order most items as a dinner but let me tell you. The portions are large and its easy to hurt yourself as most dishes are made in a classic heavy way. They do have lighter options but I've always stuck with the classics.

Cedar's South should be on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives. It's that homey and good. You can get a chicken fried steak dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy and veggie-of-the-day for LESS than 6 bucks! That also includes a basket full of fresh hot rolls with honey butter. Are you asking yourself; "How can they do this?" I think I have the answer: I marveled at the light, flaky, delicious onion rings my son got as a side item and asked the waitress if they made them there. She said, "Oh yes, we make our own onion rings from scratch. We also hand cut all our own meat and make everything from scratch." I know I tasted something different. It's called quality! You can't get THAT at a Waffle House. Cedar's food is like what your Ol' Southern Granny use to make when no one cared about calories or cholesterol. Didn't have a Southern Granny? Well, you don't need one. Eat at Cedar's and pretend you do! The place is small and sparsely decorated. You might even walk in and think you made a bad decision, but DON'T leave. Give them a chance. The menu is short and sweet with something for just about everyone, unless you're a "new-fangled vegan fella". In that case, order the onion rings and a sweet tea and you'll still have a good time. My husband, myself, and 3 kids aged 11, 9, and 2 were all extremely happy with our food, the service, and the "where everyone knows your name" atmosphere. Cedar's is now on our list of places to stop when we are passing through Springfield. I have reviewed Lambert's Cafe and I think that place is great, don't get me wrong. But Cedar's is like Lambert's little cousin. Good home-cooked food at half the price and no wait! Last but not least, I split a piece of chocolate cream pie with my hubby and baby and he summed it up in one word, "Nummy!"

I wonder, after reading other reviews, if we all ate at the same place. Cedars is Fantastic! I have never had a rude waitress, or burnt breakfast. A couple years ago, Cedars on Campbell was having some issues with food taking too long and then arriving cool. Not great for eggs. Then we noticed more management on the floor, and the problem resolved itself. Food is great, inexpensive, and downhome. The Cedar Hashbrowns are my ultimate LOVE-IT Sunday breakfast food!

I am a hearty eater (not at all picky), I like greasy spoons, and I do not have a sensitive stomach. That said, I went Cedars for lunch and was queasy all afternoon. The place is small and doesn't seem very clean. I had a turkey club - it tasted funny and there was way too much mayo on it. I didn't eat very much of the sandwich, and instead opted for the bag of chips that came with it. My friend ordered a salad with poppy seed dressing on the side, and they brought her a soup-bowl full of dressing.

Cedars is a local hang out spot that serves large portions of food for an inexpensive price. The food is not that great (just decent). I have no qualms for going here but I would not make a trip myself for this place.

I never have issues with food except when I eat at Cedars. Great price but question the cleanliness of the kitchen.

Cedars is a locals hangout and offers large portions and freshly cooked food. The Cedar hash browns are delicious if you want that good ole home style flavor and you are not watching your weight or counting calories.

This place has the most discusting wait staff I have ever seen. No manager presence and the service line is in view of many guest. Problem begins with everyone eating at waitress station. This is ok I guess but not one of them while eating toast bothered to wash their hands before handling breads and rolls for guest. Then one older woman with black hair actually licked her fingers after eating and immediately went to feeding bread in the toaster. Won't be back .

First time here in several years. I got burned on a few dinners here, but the breakfast has always been solid. I recommend the breakfast but that is all. Service was really good and the food was much better than I expected. Great prices also, much cheaper than Village Inn.

Solid breakfast. Classic, no-frills breakfast menu. Toast was burnt. But, I could have gotten the same food or better at Waffle House (along with better service).

Visiting my family in town, went here for a breakfast- && I'll be craving this for months!!!! Best breakfast I've had in along time. Great atmosphere&very clean. I got the two egg with bacon daily special- eggs were cooked exactly how I asked for them, bacon was AMAZING- which is rare for a restaurant. Got hash browns with cheese and gravy with a biscuit. For only $4.99! Coffee was fresh and tasted amazing as well. My brothers GF got the omelet, and she loved it. My brother got their French toast with strawberries and cream, and he loved it as well! Can't wait to go again whenever I'm in town!
