We were looking forward to a good old-fashioned maid-rite, but this location was terrible. Trash cans were overflowing, bathrooms filthy, tables not wiped. We even saw one of the three teen boys "running" the place eating fries out of the basket. All of this even overshadowed that the onion rings were not cooked properly and the fries were super soggy.

After living in Rolla for two years, we decided to give this place a try. Looked at the online menu, picked what we wanted. I drove across town to order and was told "we don't serve the stuff the Internet says we do. Everyone knows that." Counter help was downright rude. Walked and and will never go back and never send anyone there

Really? Really? No love for Maid-Rite? What is wrong with you Rolla Yelpers? Home of the Crumbly burger. Get your yummy, ooey-gooey grease burger that taste so good, but is sooo wrong! You can feel it hit your booty as soon as you take the last bite! Their concretes are amazing. Check out their fried mushrooms as well. Fried Mushrooms, Cheeserite, and Snickers Concrete= two days worth of calories, yet a smile on your face!:) (as long as you stay clear of the scale a few days!)

It's a local thing! Awesome unique burger that's an experience as well. Old time soda shop feel and always clean. Family owned and operated for many years. Only an open minded out of towner could appreciate this burger. The fried chicken is amazing too!

Hubby and I just passing thru on vacation and stopped here to eat. The place was dirty and when I ordered a burger the lady asked me whar i wanted on it and when i told he wanted lettuce and tomato she told me they didnt have any. What kind of a place doesnt have lettuce and tomatos? Do people here even know what lettuce and tomatos are?

Weird, just weird. I got their regular made-rite burger, which is loose hamburger meat on a steamed bun, so everything just kinda sticks together. Like as in, stick-to-the-roof-of-your-mouth stick together. Not bad, I just think I like my burgers formed into....burgers. I also got the onion rings, which were good. I saw other reviews that said their ice cream was good. I'll try that next time instead. Sounds like a power lunch....

Maid-Rite in Rolla is a local tradition. Some object to what some people call "loose-meat sandwiches." LOL! We just call it a Maid-Rite! I admit that there have been times when the beef was spicer or blander than others. It happens in a locally-owned restaurant. Laste time I ate at Maid-Rite, just before Thanksgiving, was great! Lots of beef, well seasoned, and my Cheeserite (I had one of both) was very good! By the way, the Friend Mushrooms and Onion Rings are always hot because they are only fried on order. Yay! I didn't hear the phrase "loose mean sandwich" until I traveled to Iowa, where there are dozens of "Maid-Rites." Each one if different. And I admit, Maid-Rite is love/hate, just like Pryor's Pizza and Alex's Pizza in Rolla. Same can be said for Cookin From Scratch. As a former/future KC resident, there are bbq places that some of us love, and others hate. Maid-Rite has been a part of Rolla for 65-70 years. It's not perfect, but it's Maid Rite! And many RHS and UMR, Missouri School of Mines, Missouri S&T Alums make a point to eat when back for Homecoming. And of course I'm biased, it's my favorite fast-food place in Rolla! Keep going strong Brad!

Will I go back? Maybe. Apparently if you know the people behind the counter you get better service. A local as allowed to cut in front of me to order and then four people that ordered after me and appeared to order the same thing got their food before I did. We ordered burgers and fries. I thought the servings were okay for price but found the burger to be average at best. It was loose meat with onions, pickles, and mustard. Nothing special about it. The fries were hot and tasty. They saved the meal and this review. When compared to what I had heard about this place, my lone experience was disappointing.

Online menu was nothing like menu on site. No salads or wraps or chili fries. Just a local restaurant for locals. It was clean and people were nice but not quite what we were looking for.

Maid-Rite is tradition. Period. I am a Rolla kid who grew up with Maid-Rite, and in my heart, nothing compares. It's not fancy, it's not healthy, and you eat with plastic utensils. However, you'll leave with a smile and burp onions for days. :) We had two Maid-Rites in Springfield, and neither one compared to the one in Rolla. I don't know what it is, but this is a mandatory stop for me when I go through town. Cheese-rite with mayo, onions, and mustard, and an order of fried mushrooms, take my little slip with the order number circled, and sit and wait. The mushrooms and onion rings are a bit of a wait because they are made to order, and you only get about six mushrooms an order, but they are worth it. The concretes are fantastic, and they will make absolutely any combination of toppings that you want (including taking a banana split and blending it up in a cup so you can eat it with a spoon. A plastic one). So, if you've never tried one, be ready for a delicious crumbly steamed burger...like a sloppy joe without sauce. Order an extra for me, because I am not above microwaving a Maid-Rite the next day!!
