Iguana Azul is a great place to eat. Located on the square in Nevada, there are often events going on and there is plenty of parking on the square and in the private lot behind the restaurant. The staff are very friendly and will seat you when you come into the restaurant. Chips and salsa are served after you are seated, just as you would expect at a Mexican restaurant. The salsa is homemade and one of our favorite things about the restaurant. There are so many great options on the menu. There is a large variety on the lunch menu and the sizes seem to be a little smaller than the dinner sizes, but it is still plenty of food and lunch prices are lower. I love the "Popeye Enchiladas" and "Fajita Enchiladas." Health tip: substitute black beans for refried beans. They allow you to customize your meal if there is something that you don't like. Everything that I have tried has been delicious and the prices are pretty reasonable for the large quantity of food that you receive. You will not leave hungry!

Actually as Midwest Mexican food goes, this place ain't half bad. I come back to Nevada from Texas and get together with friends for dinner about once a year. The group is pretty large so we need a place with big tables - and booze. This place wins by default. Plenty of parking on the square too. Look, if you are used to Tex-Mex or authentic Mexican food this is gonna fall short on the spice, taste meter. If you just want a pretty decent taco and some hefty mix based margaritas then this will fit the bill. Tacos are ground beef and pre-packaged taco shells. But that's how my Mom made them, so I was good with that. My advice from the menu: I wouldn't get too fancy with your choices. Just go basic with tacos and enchiladas. It's a good bet they'll be something you will like and tastes like what you expect. The salsa verde and other more "complex" dishes I won't vouch for here. The salsa is nothing to write home about. It's tomatoey and free and comes with some decent chips. It's not over priced and the service is attentive and spot on. We usually sit in the bar because you can smoke in there. I couldn't tell you if the rest of the place is smoke free. The fried ice cream was a nice touch at the end of the meal for my godson.

Not bad Tex-Mex but no spice to the salsa or salt on the chips. The furnishings are a little tired and they allow smoking in the restaurant. Service was a bit inattentive even though there were only about six tables occupied. They did get the entrees put quickly but didn't refill the salsa.

Thanks to Siri I found this outstanding Mexican Food restaurant one block off highway on the square. Nice sized portions. Fresh food. Presentation beautiful. Great Drinks. Amazing quick service.

Good Mexican food in relaxing location right on the downtown main square. Food was great and came out fast and hot. Prices are just right, margarita was about the only disappointment as had a bit of a "pre-mixed" taste to it. Probably because it was pre-mixed... Not a lot of great dining in the fair city of Nevada but the Iguana is in the Top Five, no doubt...

We ate here 2 years ago while visiting my home town area. We were with friends from the area as well as a guest from Detroit and Seattle. We all thought the food was amazing. I don't remember all the meals we had now. But my husband who can't remember anything still talks about the food. We were very impressed. Prices also were very reasonable and of course lots of food. Looking forward to eating there again when back in town.

Good prices, clean. We loved the pork, shredded & nicely seasoned. Be sure and have it with green sauce, our waiter was happy to bring us extra sauce! Oh yummy, large margaritas!

Still think Iguana Azul is the best Mexican restaurant in the area. Need to mention one other dish there that is truly an original and you can't find at any other restaurant that I know of--Chipotle Fajitas. They are crazy good!

Food average like most Mexican is. They have the worst tasting margaritas I ever had. Don't know how they do it. Way overrated.

The food portions were well worth the price. The food quality was outstanding. The only negative feedback I have is the hispanic waiter/bartender seemed inconvenienced as well as the bus boy. We were very thankful of the service with nothing polite in return. I would see myself returning there in the future.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
