The food is excellent, fresh humus, hot fresh tasty pastries, mouth watering tabouleh, crunchy falafel, flavored grills, we enjoyed the meal very much... This is the best middle eastern restaurant in town... Take it from a person who lived in the Middle East for a long time and can tell the quality of the middle eastern cuisine ... Bravo bravo bravo ... From Elina

This place used to be called Ranoush. The food and the service was great however it is far from "authentic". It is a nice replica of Arabic food but it's quite not the same. When I visited overseas the food was much better and much more flavorful. This Arabic food is "Americanized". During lunchtime some items on the menu are roughly half off which is great because regular prices are overpriced. The food portions are very generous. I would visit this place again but if you are looking for true authentic Arabic food this is not it.

Excellent food, drinks and service. The hummus/peta bread is the best I've had. Very personable staff too, our waiter Tom was fun and very helpful navigating the menu. We'll definitely go back. If you're looking for something a little different, I'd highly recommend it.

We are returning customers (we came to the same place previously when it was Ranoush) but this time we were very disappointed. We were not even served water until 20mins and from the time we came in it took them a little more than an hour to serve us. The meats were good and so the 2 stars, but nothing else -- the hummus was bad, salad was below average, rice was absolutely bad (they didn't even check even after we telling them twice), fries were ok.

We ordered mixed grill, a hot mezza platter, and a variety of kebabs. Everything was divine. My husband is Turkish, so we have high standards for our kebabs. :) We will be back!

Not the same, but not bad. I wanted to give it 4 stars but there's a few things that have to be corrected. Food was good, the waitress was very nice and the service was real good too. Decorate a bit and fix the wobbly table to start. I was disappointed by the Baklava it's not what I'm used to. We will be back again though

Wow - a new name and owner has put this place back on the map. We've only had lunch but everything falafel, chicken schwarma, salads have all been excellent.

My friend & I went to Petra for lunch today after a bike ride. My friend has been to Jordan and knows Arabic, and she is familiar with middle eastern cuisine. Right away we were greeted by the waiter who told us where we could park our bikes. We sat outside on the covered patio. Quiet and pleasant. We ordered off the lunch menu but you can order off of the regular menu if you want. The lunch entrees were $8.25. My friend ordered Chicken Shawama which is seasoned chicken in a pita bread with a large salad, It was a generous serving but she managed to eat it all!. I ordered the vegetarian plate which contained five different items. It was an enormous quantity of food with pita bread in a basket. The plate contained hummus, baba ganoush, tabbouleh, falafel, and moutabal which is grilled eggplant mashed up with peppers and garlic, served on lettuce. The flavors of all the items were so fresh and I thoroughly enjoyed everything but was only able to eat about 1/3 and took the rest home. It would have been enough for 2 people to eat. My friend saw "Rosewater Kahwa" on the beverage list. It is a Turkish coffee made with rosewater. After our meal, it was brought to the table in a metal coffee pot with a side pouring spout and small espresso-size clear cups. Add some sugar, it was smooth and delicious. I loved it. It was a wonderful end to a nice meal. I was glad she wanted to eat there. My last experience was not so great but this visit totally made up for it.

So, I won't visit this place again! Wandered in on a Saturday night in August, when my in-laws didn't want to wait 40 minutes at Dewey's. Wish we'd waited. It was busy and they seemed to be short-staffed, but that is no excuse for tables that were never cleaned off. All around us, dirty dishes sat on tables for the 90 minutes we were there. The nail in the coffin, however, was when I went to pass out the appetizer plates, only to find that a few were covered in hummus! Really made me question the cleanliness of the rest of the tableware. The food did not make up for the gross atmosphere of this restaurant. In fact, it was only a month ago that we went and I can't remember what I ate, it was so forgettable. I do know I went home and had a bowl of cereal since dinner was not satisfying.

Petra (formerly Ranoush) was one of our favorite restaurants in Kirkwood, and we frequented it often once a week. This past time we went there, however, everyone in our party who consumed the beef had food poisoning. This is disappointing as we have loved this restaurant for years.

The Chicken Shawarma was fantastic, one of the best chicken dishes I've had in some time. The outside seating area offers a great view of life in Kirkwood. Definitely give Petra a try if you're looking for something different than a burger and fries.
