Ate at the Rocking Chair several years ago with my mom and grandma on the way to and from Springfield and wasn't excited about stopping there when my wife suggested stopping. However I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant had expanded to include a fully stocked buffet. Good home-cooked catfish and fried chicken and lots of other good-tasting food. The bread pudding was excellent. I make bread pudding and I thought it was just as good as mine. The food was just good home cooking and our service was excellent. The construction is a little hodgepodge and reminded me of a do-it-yourself building and remodeling company. The men's bathroom is kind of the trip and it is near the buffet which is a little gross but all in all it was a good and delicious experience. We really got full and recommend the Rocking Chair.

Must Stop!!! On a roadtrip back from Rolla, MO to Enid, OK we needed lunch and decided to stop here from a recommendation from the gas station down the road. Its good diner food, if you're looking for good home-cooked food. There were 3 of us, we got the fried pickles, two servings of biscuits and gravy, french fries, home fries a bowl of vegetable beef soup and the world famous cinnamon roll. Let me tell you, that cinnamon roll was very easily the highlight of our day!!! It was HUGE! And so so good!!! The service was great, all of the food very tasty and if I'm ever headed that way again I will most certainly be stopping through there again!!!

Wow! Great food...diner atmosphere. Had the buffet; On the buffet, I chose ribs-great, fried chicken-good, baked potato mashed potatoes, fried okra and salad. Don't miss the cinnamon roll bread pudding on the buffet. Hubby had a hamburger, thought it was very good. Stopped by on our way from Texas to Illinois. Found it on Yelp. Might have to stop again on our way home!

I have to honestly say this is the best breakfast I have had in a long time. I can't remember a better biscuit and gravy ever being served to me at a restaurant. The ham steak was delicious, and the coffee was that great diner coffee that just tastes better when a nice country waitress is topping it off when you're getting low. Exceeded my expectations by far, I am from St Louis, and will be stopping in whenever I drive down to Joplin and Springfield.

Just finished enjoying the breakfast buffet. Bacon and sausage were really good, and the biscuits were mile high and perfect. Gravy had good flavor. Our waitress was friendly and kept the coffee filled. She even offered me an iced tea to go. Access from the interstate was easy and parking was ample, although we did have to park in gravel. The dining areas and the restrooms were very clean. All in all it was a good, family style restaurant with a homey atmosphere. Prices were good. The breakfast buffet was only $8.29 per person and the food was better than Cracker Barrel. We would stop there again.

Local people introduced us this restaurant. It is a old fashion style restaurant. Lots of old people and family here. We like our meals. Daily special was roasted beef about $6.99. It was light seasoned. Very health and good for old people. I like it. Reuben sandwich is about $5.59. It was really good. I added fried mushrooms for $1 more, worth it.

This is a great place to stop and eat. The portions are big and it is a great value also. This is a popular place with the locals to come and meet and just get together and hang out and have coffee. The food it's self is pretty good. It is just you down home cooking served up every day. The staff is always warm and friendly. B.

Stopped here for lunch on a road trip. Easy access from the highway and lots of parking. We were here on a weekday for lunch. Waitress was very nice and friendly. The food was good, nothing overly amazing but better than any fast food joint. Our meal was served quickly, an other bonus for lunch break on a road trip. My wife and I got burgers, I got the Joe burger which is two patties with cheese on Texas toast, while my wife got the mushroom Swiss. Burgers were not cooked to order, but brought out well done. I liked mine but Wife said hers was dry and mushrooms a little wet. My mother got the roast pork sandwich which she said was good. The fries were fine but nothing special, tasted like pre-frozen fries that were deep fried - exactly what you might make at home. My mother got the chips though which were obviously fresh made and very tasty. All in all was just good, not great, but good. Happy to have stopped but don't know that I would go again.

Rocking chair has been a place to get decent food in Conway for a while now. The food is primarily things you would want from a small city diner. I always get the same thing any time my grandparents take my girlfriend and I. I typically stay away from the buffet, due to the fact that the food taste like the cooks didn't put enough time and energy into the food on the buffet versus the food you order and they cook on the spot. The reason I gave four stars is because rocking chair is a nice place to get away from big city food and fast food at a decent price. My grandparents love it, which makes me happy, everyone knows each other. It's typical Americana.

I, as you can imagine, did not choose to come to the "Rocking Chair Restaurant" out of my own will. My grandmother wanted to have a Christmas dinner and invited everyone here. Let's start with the highlights. They had fried okra! I love okra, especially when it's fried: automatic one star. The second star is because of, because, um, well it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't that great. Oh, the buffet was only $9.49 a person, so maybe that's the second star. On to the not so great portion of the review regarding food. » The frog legs were bland. » The coleslaw had too much dressing. » The sweet potatoes tasted, odd. » The white gravy was too watery. » The "pot pie" was gross unless you ate part of the crust with the bite. » The red velvet cake looked odd, and my grandpa said wasn't good. » ... I could continue, but I think I made my point. The building itself needs more lighting on the outside so you can see it. When I walked in, I immediately felt out-of-place. Me in my Energy jeans and faux-fur-collared jacket, other people in their hick attire. :-) Okay, I'm just playing that up a bit, but you get the idea. Inside the restaurant was a little flea market thing of sorts along the wall. I mean, sure I want to buy a little rocking horse when I eat dinner? The buffet was clean, that's a decent plus. The service was terrible. I know the waitress was busy, but she had a hard time keeping drinks refilled and clearing away plates. The bathroom was cold, and to make it worse, the men's restroom is right next to the buffet. Gross! When you walked in, I saw a space heater on the counter and a curtain for a stall door. I really didn't question it. I mean, I was in Conway, so I'm not judging, but come on, make a little more effort. If you're starving and have $11 bucks, then sure stop by, but don't expect anything extravagant.
